This small, humble Thai eatery offers spicy curries, noodles & other classic fare.
Unclear what palates the one star reviewers have but this is one of the best Thai places I have ever been.
Have never had a dish that was not at least good if not great. Bon appetite.
I have given Thai Kitchen a very positive review in the past (so not only negative)....however this evening I ordered some dinner that was not good at all! The drunken noodles was very doughy, the bbq chicken we ordered I am quite sure was just straight up Costco Rotisserie chicken with some steamed carrots and broccoli, the shrimp rolls were decent but, much smaller than usual and, the crab fried rice was a little over cooked with not much flavor. I will probably try them once more since 1 out of ten isn't horrible (just need consistency) but, if it's anything like this evening we will never come back!
The food was great. A little slow on the service.
All around terrible experience. I love thai food and eat it at least 3 x a week. I live in Dallas so I tried this place because it was close to where my partner lives.
Don't waste your money here. We ordered two entrees and a dessert, our total was just over $50. I ordered drunken noodles, way too sweet and doughy, hardly any meat or vegetables. It was very wet, lacking flavor.. my partner got the seafood entree. That was so disgusting.. It was just rotten scallops, the worst calamari I've ever tasted, with vegetables in a very sweet terrible tasting sauce.
Long story, it was the worst meal we've ever had and I had to pay over $50 for it!! I'm all about second chances and I understand that many times it's just the person's pallette.. but not in this case, we were fed horrible food that shouldn't even be available for human consumption.
I should have asked for a refund immediately on the seafood entree because we couldn't eat any of it. We did pick through the drunken noodles looking for the cooked noodles and vegetables.. but ended up throwing everything away. What a rip off 😭
(Their mango sticky rice was the only thing I was able to enjoy.)
Thai place that's kind of hole in the wall, and it's pretty good. I like to get pad woon sen, the noodles are very delicious. Pineapple fried rice was my previous go to before that, and what is good is that they will substitute brown rice so that's helpful for dietary restrictions. I'm a regular and so occasionally they have surprised me with some small snacks when I get the receipt like a mandarin or a cookie. I liked that :)
First time here. Good was good. Great flavor. Loved the peanut sauce!! Friendly staff. Good atmosphere.

Never disappointed. Always a good meal. Friendly and accommodating.

The nicest people work here
Mmmmmm, garlic chicken!

Good food, slow to get it to us. Atmosphere pretty basic. Go for the good food, not the ambiance!
food was so good , like really good
Nothing special; staff was kind and friendly, but the food was meh. A good location for a quick lunch in Oregon city, but there are other places that are probably better.
Every once in a while, I will try Thai Chef, since it is geographically convenient. Unfortunately, every time I do I am reminded of why I do not regularly eat there. The food is just average, at best.
Great little place. Not fancy, just good fresh food. Thai Chef is a hidden gem in Oregon City.
This is a little “hole in the wall” gem. Great food and the staff is great.
Ordered the Pad ? Ewe. So good. This little shop is unpretentious. I would say they are a little spicier than others I have been to. Flavors were awesome. My entire group was pleased with their meals.
Food is usually good, but sometimes inconsistent in quality and flavor. They charge more for beef than chicken. Their prices have increased quite a bit from when I first started going here.
Overall would recommend as an occasional take out.
Love the pad Thai. Some of the best I’ve had. Wonton soup is also very good.
We enjoyed our visit here. The pad Thai and curry was very delicious ! We haven’t had good luck at other places lately. But this was very very good. We will come back when in the area. Friendly staff! :) we saw lots of people come in for take out.
We've eaten here a dozen times over the last few years and have always enjoyed the food. Takeout tonight with a mere 20 minute wait time. Crab puffs were great, salad rolls good. It ends there. Chicken satay was very dry as was the Lemongrass chicken. Thin slices that looked and tasted like they were cooked earlier and left out until orders came in. Very dry. Couldn't eat them without lots of peanut sauce. Lemongrass had little flavor and veggies were also dry and bland, almost like the veggies were steamed.....no wok oil or sauce whatsoever. The pad thai noodles were dry, not sweet, spicy, and slightly oily like other visits. Overall, it was a bad experience. So sad. Always want to support a local shop.
Good food and friendly service!
Waiter made mistake on my order so I had to wait and watch my husband eat most of his meal. Thom Kah soup was delicious but not worth extra waiting when I was hungry. I watched the host handle dirty dishes, fresh food orders and money then back to food all without wearing gloves or washing hands between. He also liked his fingers to open a plastic bag for a to go order.
Would not return unless owners are able to better train their food handlers.
Definitely the worst I’ve had in a while but everything else was good on the menu previously. What happened?
Their chicken Pad Thai is absolutely to die for, I've been getting it for well over 10 years now.. it's the best chicken Pad Thai I've ever had, if you've never been here or tried it, you must asap! Its worth the trip, Great food and reasonably priced!
Love the food. Had the pad Thai and the crab fried rice it was great! We have been going there for awhile. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Finally a place with REAL flavor. There are 4 flavors. Mild, medium, hot, Thai hot. I got hot and it was just enough spicy but not TOO spicy. Was just perfect.
Amazing food for a great deal. Staff is fun and friendly.
Great food, friendly family owned business. Try it you’ll like it. Happy basil chicken and drunken noodle are 👍🏽👍🏽
The food was very good 👍 😋.
Favorite Thai food place.
The food is fresh amazing.
One of our favorite!
Foods good but pricing is getting to be a bit much. 10 bucks for 6 crab puffs is getting to be to much. I use to come in here 1 or 2 times a week. Now It's gotten to be to expensive for the hit or miss quality that has been had lately.
Good food but it was cold inside a little
This place makes really good yakisoba noodles. I really enjoy coming here and it's fun by some really nice people. I'll definitely come back and will continue to eat here.
This is my go-to Thai place in Oregon City. I've only ever ordered take-out, so I can't speak for dine-in service. Would recommend calling ahead because sometimes it can take 20-30 mins.
Reasonable prices, friendly staff and delicious Thai food!
It's always delicious!!! 😁
Pad thai was great and thai tea was excellent!
All taste the same, Peanut sauce is ok.
Food hot and staff very nice
My husband & I got the chicken satay, tom kah(****hot), panang curry(****hot) & koa pad ka prow(**med). We were both so pleased with the service, the food was excellent, very flavorful with good heat level. Will definitely be back 🙏
I (wife) ate there with a friend.Great taste, plenty of food, offers GF sauces! Friendly atmosphere. Cute place. Looking forward to going again!
Food is always outstanding. Perfect in every way. Staff is very friendly.
Good food, quick service
Great Thai food.
First off only had food from here twice. Both times just Pad Thai. First time the noodles were gummy. About 2 years later I figured I'd give them another try. You guessed it, gummy noodles again. I'll stick with Arawan or White Orchid Thai going forward.
We got take it from them today. The food was delicious and flavorful. The veggies we're cooked perfectly. The city was so tasty I couldn't stop eating it (even though it was a little spicy for me). I also felt like the price was very reasonable for everything I ordered. Plenty of food for my family of 3 for under $30!
Pad Thai was very tasty and the service was quick. Easy access off of and onto I-205.
Fantastic food and service! I will definitely be back.
Also if you want it spicy, they've got a level for you!
Their pad Thai is good, but their salad rolls need Jesus.. lol they tasted fine but they fell apart like 2020!
2: Edit Feb 2021:They arnt doing lunch anymore with construction going on. Staff did not communicate this when placing order.
1: Their yakisoba noodles are delicious. Their wonton soup I wouldn't recommend. Good service.
Delicious! Best rice
Pad Thia was dry and not at all spicy when ordered medium spicy.. crab puffs were burnt and not very appetizing.. some QC would be nice. Ill be back and hope for better outcome. Sorry
Was good but could be better.
Adorable place and tasty food. Medium is quite spicy! 🔥
I have been eating here for years and I have never ever been disappointed. BEST thai food all the time, super friendly
Super good. right about of spice. Perfect proportions.
It was ok... kind of dry.. over priced.
This place has been around for quite a while. My husband and I ate there when it first opened and weren’t impressed. Now it’s COVID19 and we wanted to get take away so gave it another chance. The salad rolls weren’t bad, but too large and badly wrapped. The Tom Kha soup looked good but it was watery as was the green curry. Either a lite coconut milk was used or water added to stretch it. The other item we ordered was the “spicy” eggplant. It was neither spicy nor did it have much eggplant. The taste was good but it seemed again like they are cutting corners to stretch their products. It’s better to give everyone the authentic That taste that we all expect.
I have been getting food here for years. Today i purchased the same item, as usual. Same cost but with their new packaging came half the portion. Not pleased and will not be back.
I absolutely love this place! My husband and I just found it last month and we’ve already order there 3 times! The quality is great and the prices are great and we love supporting a local business. Their customer service is great, they are always friendly. I always get the yellow curry and it’s my favorite thing ever!
Wonderful food!
Delicious thai food, fresh, and cooked to perfection. Also a wonderful staff.
Only been here once, but the pad thai was really good!
We love this place. The food is consistently good and it's run by the nicest family. Most people gravitate towards the Pad Thai but the yellow curry, pra ram, and the tai chicken noodle soup are my favorites. One of the best places in OC to get an order to go.
Delicious Thai dishes in a cozy atmosphere
The best pad thai I've ever had!
Love this independent Thai restaurant. Great variety and decent portions.
If you like Pad Thai you'll love Thai Chef. The portions are large I have for dinner and lunch the next day. Staff is attentive and friendly I've never felt as they are rushing me to order. Food is fresh, hot, and ready quickly.
Nice find. Just tried them out with a friend, a pair of chicken pad thai on take-out.
Very happy, and will return again. She got mild, I got medium. We both found them to be a bit hot compared to other restaurants, but not terribly so. And they also embrace more of the sweet textures over savory.
Definitely can recommend trying.
My sister loves the chicken Pad Thai, and so do I.
Always have a great meal at this place! Family run, great service and can get really busy at times.
There pat tie is always the best thing ever. Best place to go. Try it out
Good buffet food here. Enough said.
The food was great and the service was fine I'd eat there again
Nice family and the food is pretty good!
Authentic best Thai around!!😁
I love this place!! There Coconut Milk soup is amazing and the salad rolls with the peanut sauce, so yummy!! I am excited to try other things on the menu but will have a hard time as I will crave the same until next time!!
Don’t let the location foul you, this place is top notch Thai Food!
Super good food. Family business vibe.
I'm not sure how we have missed this restaurant for 20 years, but so glad to have found it! We had amazing service and all our dishes were unique with distinctive flavors and that great sweet/hot balance. We will definitely be going back!
SO GOOD
One of the only places in the area that takes the spicy level seriously! I love the heat and they'll give it to you, plus they have the house hot oil and table spices to add. Vegetables always perfect, fresh, tender- never over or under cooked, just right. Shrimp, crab and chicken dishes all prepared masterfully. Dishes are served in the order they are done, so don't get upset when one person's meal comes out before the others. I love the small kitchen and knowing how much attention they give to every dish! Price is very fair for the portion and quality.
Able to eat there and easily accessible to me on foot
Best food and service!
Food is great.
I've only been going to this place since early 2008, but in that time I've never had a bad meal. The food is excellent though can be a bit on the higher price for Thai food. The building they are in is old and could be updated, but that isn't the reason I go. The people are very nice and willing to please.
Amazing Thai food! I’ve been eating here since I was a teenager! Never been disappointed.
Always delicious, especially the wonton soup and salad rolls😋
Love the coconut soup please just right. Their chicken fried rice is my favorite.
Look, the place is tiny and they lock up for lunch but the food is so good. Green curry, choc-a-block full of veggies, got me like whoa! Like Thai should, it burns so good.
Generous portions of yummy food at a decent price.
Having lived in SE Asia for a while I miss this kind of food!!!
I've been trying to find something authentic for over a year now and I'm very glad I found this place!!!
The Larb is on point!
Good lemongrass chicken. Reasonable prices. Good service.
I have driven by this place a bunch of times without ever trying it. I finally did and it is my new favorite spot. The food is delicious, and the people are very friendly.
Rude and refused to do lunch at 2:32 after taking forever to answer. Use to eat there all the time and the last couple times prior to this, their portions have gotten smaller and smaller, and the flavor isn't the same. It was convenient for me, but now I'll go else where.
Great food! Great service! I recommend it highly.
Decent Thai in OC. I wouldn't say that it was mind blowing, but it wasn't bad either. If you simply want some Thai and you don't want to venture out of OC then you will be just fine eating here.
Love!! Fresh and authentic.
Great spot for authentic Thai cuisine. Thai tea is on point
Good food... a bit pricey but so far my preferred thai place in Oregon City...
I have always LOVED this place and I will say they have the best Pad Thai around! BUT their service is TERRIBLE! My husband has stopped more than FIVE times at four pm to order dinner and each time has waited for over thirty minutes for someone to arrive (their hours on their menu say they open at 4pm) he has called and knocked, no one has shown up and this has happened more than 5 times! As of now we won’t get our Thai from Thai chef anymore
Best Thai food around, you have to try the crab pad Thai and you will be sold on how good it could be, do medium heat
This place has the best Thai in town but they know it and you pay for it. Be prepared to spend $30 plus if you're doing couple main dishes and an appetizer. We always get take out and add at least ten minute to the time they tel you it will take. We love it and it''s worth the extra penny if you're into great authentic Thai.
Best Thai Iced Tea I've found! Service is always outstanding and food is never disappointing.
Great food, I go there several times a week and have yet to be disappointed.
Food is delicious! Peanut sauce is a well balanced gravy with peanuts in it. I order the Tofu Pad Thai with extra egg & peanuts. Not all Thai restaurants serve peanuts or lime but I want them! I save to eat here. Only bad thing is how long it takes to get home so I can eat it!
Yum
I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was.
Pretty good if you're in the mood for some heavy Thai food! If was really good! The place is tiny, family owned, and legit!
I haven't had Thai for a while and saw this in the area. Got the Red Curry which said medium heat, didn't want to take a chance on the hot. Gotta say it was fantastic. The heat was just right for when you don't want your face blown off but you still want a kick in the teeth. I would definitely come here again next time I am in the area. The staff are so nice and polite, absolutely recommended.
Very good and inexpensive
Excellent food and service. Great specials.
Not a fancy atmosphere, but food is fantastic.
The food is delicious and made to order. We have multiple food allergies and they do a great job of making us a variety of dishes. The staff is so friendly and the prices and portions are good. One of my favorite places.
Good thai fare ....
Like the pad Thai, love the drunken noodles!
, this place is awesome and the owner is so sweet the nicest ladies you'll ever meet
Great Thai food, i have tried a few different dishes and each time they are good quality and i enjoy them all.
It's a nice quiet little restaurant just a few seeds food was good there's a lot of unusual things there to eat service is great had a very wonderful dining experience
Always get it to go. Very delicious thai food!
A lovely family owned Thai restaurant run by the sweetest people you'll ever meet! Been eating here for many years and they never fail to treat us like family. Food is very tasty, and the daily specials are always yummy! Lunch or dinner you can't go wrong!
Wrong hours. Not open Saturday and their phone number doesn't work.
Just ok
I come here often. It's always good. Satay, Pad Thai, pad kee mao, pineapple fried rice. Never been disappointed. It may not be the best in Portland, but they have the best Thai food in Oregon City.
Great Thai food with quick service, green curry is terrific!
I don't know what to order, what's good?
I eat here once or twice a week as I work just right around the corner. Hands down she makes the best Pad Thai in town. It's timeless and ridiculously delicious. I'd also recommend the Pad See Ew and the curries.
Quaint. Small family run restaurant. Food is very good.
So good, priced well.
Love this little gem. Tasty and owner operated.
I see some bad reviews on here but in the last 5 years I have eaten here at least 20 times and never had a single complaint. The food is always ready when I come to pick it up and absolutely delicious. My wife likes the pad thai and I love the curry with vegetables, both my kids like the pineapple stir fry. Definitely good food and the prices are fair.
The salad roll wraps were rancid you could smell how bad they were before you even unwrapped them from the plastic. My pad Thai was lukewarm and the sauce tasted like katscup. I have not been in awhile, now I remember why. I will never go back, it needs to be shut down. I paid $14 for food I had to throw away.
Wonderful food!
The food is amazing
We were the only people in the place, and the food and service were terrible. Our "tempura" was luke warm frozen onion rings and french fries and the main courses were no better. I can't urge you strongly enough to stay away from this place...
I've never ordered anything here that wasn't delicious! My brother commented on how I was forgetting my restaurant etiquette because I couldn't keep from shoveling the food in my mouth.
New Owners, Back to Basics and Good Food consistently.
They have limited hours on weekends as the owner/operator wants to spend time with her grand kids.
I appreciate that....and yes the owner is Thai and coached me before my own trip to Thailand last winter.
Small but cute. Friendly service but the food is not the greatest Thai that I have had. The sauce they put on my Pad Thai was very odd.
I have been multiple times and the food is always good. My hubby loves the cashew chicken. It doesn't look amazing, but looks in this case are deceiving.
Visit was pretty unremarkable. The Pad Thai is made with that cheap ketchup-tasting sauce and is not an authentic recipe. My husband had some beef dish and that was also quite basic and forgettable. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't anything I'd go back to. Might try the curry some day to give it a second try... but probably not. I was hoping that since it was owned by a Thai family (as I've heard) that they would include some traditional family recipes, so that was disappointing... nothing like the Thai food in Thailand (or hole in the wall places in East Portland). If I could give it 2.5 stars I would.
People are always very friendly and food is consistently good! I have never been disappointed.
It's tiny but who cares?! I don't go to Thai restaurants to sit and eat, I get it takeout for lunch. That being said, I love it. I go there often for Pad Thai, and it's great. Will continue to be a lunch choice for me indefinitely.
Don't let the decor fool you, there is good food to be had here. This is a little hole in the wall Thai restaurant run by a Thai family. The food is authentic and well prepared. I eat a lot of Thai food and the noodles I was served for lunch were just as good as any I've received at the popular downtown restaurants for twice the price. I would avoid the fried spring rolls as they appeared to be factory made and re-heated. Otherwise, everything out of the wok has been excellent.
