Thai Restaurant- Authentic Thai with a modern upbeat style. Beer on tap & Top Shelf bar. Come watch a game at the bar.
We come here a lot. They have the best peanut sauce! I went and spoke with the manager tonight though, because we had a bad experience on Sunday. Burnt food and way too spicy pad thai. They also changed their noodles. I had written a review about how good they were, and I'm going to keep that. Because everybody makes mistakes. And she said she wants to make it right. I did not want to NOT come there anymore. It would really be sad. So anyway my fellow Thai lovers. Just check your food before you leave. But believe me it's good food 99% of the time.
Vegetarian Food Review: 4.5. Very very good food. Fresh and light. Ordered the Papaya Salad and it was delicious. So was the Stir Fry Basil and then the Mango Sticky Rice. The owner is lovely and the customer service is great. I am really happy that I went there and look forward to trying other things as well. (Google it’s time to introduce .5 to reviews.)
Curry was super delicious especially with the red onions and lime added in, spicy mango margarita was flavorful and balanced for tequila lovers. The detail of the flower using the straw paper was a nice touch. Service was very attentive and friendly, will definitely go again and explore their menu. I said $20-$30 just because we got some drinks.
The stir fries are the best thing on the menu. Good curries too.
The service was phenomenal, the food was delicious & extremely FRESH. I enjoyed a tasty Thai iced tea and the phad thai noodles. This was my second time here and I will be back. This is the best Thai cuisine in the area! A must try and make sure you leave a review too.
Delifood, big portions, fare prices, friendly staff. Vegan and vegetarian options.
Friend service, clean, and very delicious
Crispy basil chicken...try it!
The salad rolls were great. The pad thai was AWFUL. The chicken was like plain, boiled chicken. The spice level was also off. The mild and the medium were exactly the same. Burning hot. I'm sad we spent $80 here tonight.
Love the food and the staff!!
The food was too hard and difficult to eat we ordered crispy chicken and crispy basil. It was too hard to cut and no flavor of chicken
I've honestly never had bad Thai food before this at some 30+ different Thai restaurants. It wasn't terrible, but below what one expects at a Thai restaurant. Won tons tasted like they were flash fried from a frozen bag, and neither the massaman nor Tom Kha Gai had the expected flavor or quality I've had at numerous other places
Food comes off microwaved. Inconsistent. Cut corners
Best Thai food in Beaverton! Fantastic flavors and very fresh ingredients.
In the past I liked my food but tonight the food is flavorless except for the salad rolls, the service was awful and disappointing since I paid online and gave a nice tip. Won’t be going back.
Food is always on point and the folks working here are super warm and welcoming.
Food and service was fantastic!
look no further if youre aiming for an authentic thai meal.
due to the density of thai restaurants in the portland area, sometimes this place often gets overlooked. but i would rank this in one of my top 5.
i would let the food speak for itself because its justified.
Delicious and vegan friendly!
food is on point 🙌
We come here a lot. They have the best peanut sauce! I went and spoke with the manager tonight though, because we had a bad experience on Sunday. Burnt food and way too spicy pad thai. Returned twice and was disappointed the disparity from my first impression of the pad see yew. Either they lost a chef or food quality was alright. Pad See Yew was wet, pale colored, and little egg. Poor presentation of this dish and totally has no wok heat temp and other dishes are alright too. With a lot of thai restaurants in this area, I am unlikely to return.
My family comes here to eat here when they want Thai food. Since we live near this restaurant, whenever we want Thai food we drive here to eat. My favorite dish is the pad Thai and the beef!
The Thai cuisine here is outstanding. The freshness of every dish really stands out. Portions are just right for a single meal, and the prices are very fair for the quality you get. I loved everything I tried. The person who served us, possibly the owner, was extremely kind and attentive. They even have adorable straws. Highly recommend checking this place out.
The service was excellent and friendly. The food was delicious!
The crispy chicken crispy basil dish was very good. I will order it again.
Khao Yai Thai Kitchen is simply some of the best Thai food my partner and I have ever had. Dining in the restaurant tastes even better than picking up food to eat at home—and that is really saying something. Do not skip this place!
The owner is super rude. Went in to use restroom and once i was leaving he grabbed my shoulder and told me to clean his restroom. Just disrespectful and not professional at all you shouldn’t put your hands on people. I stayed respectful. But just a rude guy.
The food was pretty good. We got potstickers, pad Thai, and yellow curry. There were just ants on the table and wall next to me. There was a tiny spider on the table that crawled under my plate, and a tiny flying thing on my cup. So I was just grossed out. Maybe it was because we were in the corner and that’s why there were bugs?
Very good authentic Thai food.. A lot of delicious choices
Unfamiliar area for us. Thought we could please most of our family with Thai. Food was fresh and tasted very good. Service excellent. Looked very clean. In a nice little shopping area.
The curry with roti is where it's at.
Great Thai food. Everything is super fresh. The portion sizes are great for one person per meal. The prices are great for the quality. Absolutely loved everything here. I believe we were served by the owner and he was very nice and attentive. They also make the straws really cute lol. Definitely recommend
I don't go here often enough. Their prices are good and the food even better
Delicious food & excellent service: I especially loved the pineapple fried rice, spring rolls, salad rolls & chicken wings.
We love Yai’s Kitchen! Awesome food and vibes, good vegetarian options as well. Menu has a good range, with everything from noodle dishes to drinks to desserts.
I went to Thailand last winter, fell in love with it and have been diligently searching for the PDX Thai food place that came closest to my experience there, I can happily report I finally found it! This place is spot on with flavors, portion size, quality of ingredients and friendly service! I was there two days in a row to test this and I am now the hugest fan of what they are doing there! (it's not on the list here to recommend but try the Nam Khao Tod for something not always on a West side Thai menu, delicious!!!)
I eat here often. The food is always great!
We’ve never eaten in only takeout so this review is just for the food. We keep coming back for more says it all.
We were greeted with a friendly smile. Several other patrons in dining area. Clean, neat, simple surroundings. Our food was excellent, ranging from noodle dishes to soup to sautéed broccoli with pork belly.
Fried sweet potatoes and papya salad was delicious.
Attentive and quick customer service! Fresh, piping hot and savory dishes! Generous portions. Bright atmosphere. Whether you want a quick bite or a longer, more relaxing experience, good for both solo diners and couples sharing plates. They bring your food out quickly but they don’t rush you to leave. I will be back.
Clean space, friendly and attentive staff, good food and reasonable prices. We will definitely be back.
Good Thai food. No Cashew Chicken, but other, more authentic dishes were fantastic! Service was exceptional, very happy.
Great little neighborhood restaurant! The menu offers the Thai dishes you expect, plus many you don't. The massaman curry and pineapple fried rice, the two dishes we had, were delicious! Excellent service, and a nice atmosphere. Give them a try!
We ordered take out but still I don’t think that’s a good reason for overcooked Crispy Basil Chicken or tough Calamari. I was taken by the good reviews. Won’t be back.
Pork belly spicy basil. Excellent!!
Fantastic, legitimately Thai and every dish was well worth the trip to it. Would go back for sure!
Amount of food is too small. Taste is not good either
Some of the best Thai food I've had. Staff was very frindly and the food was delicious. The pork belly dish I had was so flavorful. Will definitely be back.
Get the #29 curry. It's amazing and I get it every time I go here!
All the dishes are top notch!
First time ordering from here, but the food is amazing! Very flavorful.
Food is great. Servers are friendly 🙂
Very tasty food. Would eat there again. 😋Tom yum creamy soup, crispy chicken wings and pad Thai with chicken and mildly spicy were great. Also enjoyed the Thai iced tea.
Came in tonight to pick up my phone order. There were 3 people near the register/counter/bar when I walked in. The guy with the glasses at the bar looked directly at me and said absolutely nothing. No-can I help you? Nothing. The lady didn’t acknowledge me either and after some time a guy helped me , but it seemed like he was also reluctant to help, but did end up getting my order. So customer service- not great-at all. The food had a nice spice, but the chicken used, was gray in color so I didn’t eat the chicken.
Update-it’s been awhile, but just came across the response. What a thoughtful response-greatly appreciated!! I plan to try again soon!
The yellow curry was the best I’ve ever had. The crispy basil chicken was amazing as well. The staff was kind and the service was fast. 10/10 recommend this place!
Delicious Thai food, clean restaurant, and consistent great and friendly service. I usually order the crab fried rice here and it never disappoints. I find myself craving it and ordering it routinely, mostly to go but I’ve also tried other dishes dining in and every single one has been excellent. Will remain a loyal customer.
I ordered the pineapple fried rice and it was phonamenal but it seemed a little pricy based the on the amount of food I got. Rice is pretty inexpensive.
I ordered the Pad Thai, and my hubby ordered an incredible curry. The flavors were there for the Pad Thai, but it was like I was eating mush. It was almost like it was two days old. Even the chicken in my dish tasted iffy. However, when I tried my husband's curry, I was in heaven. Everything was great with his meal, even the chicken.
The service was fabulous, the place was clean, I just wasn't thrilled about my dish.
Quick and good portion sizes.
Tasteless
One of the best Thai spots on the west side of Portland. The fried sweet potato was crispy good, crispy stir fry basil chicken delicious, beef noodle tasted like in Thailand.
The fried rice with Chinese sausage is delicious. Small restaurant with limited seating, but they were able to accommodate our party of 7. Really good food and drinks.
I had lunch here with a friend. The Pad Thai, Some Tum Thai (green papaya salad, and Massaman Curry were all excellent. The rest areas sparkling clean, and the proprietor was warm and welcoming. Food portions were a nice size. I'll definitely be back.
Does not seat people in order. Clearly been waiting to get our name in and the hostess let people cut in front of us
ordered take out and the food was delicious. the service was great and really happy with the whole experience. highly recommended.
Such yummy food and very good service! Definitely will come back. highly recommend :)
Great food and good service. Arroy Maaaaaak!!!
Great fast service , friendly staff, good quality noodles and rice. Loved the beef salad medium spicy was perfect ! Will be back again and again !
This is a sit down cafe in a fancy large strip mall. For a work lunch, it was excellent. Quick service, ample portions, very tasty! I like more veggies and the Tofu was sliced, raw, and plain. There was lots of it! Not so much of the pickled mustard greens which I love. I'll go back and see if something else doesn't satisfy me better.
Great food fun atmosphere
Very mid. Thia tea with coconut milk was very mid.
Good stuff
Amazing food!! We got the crab wontons, pumpkin curry, pad khe mao, and best of all, the mango sticky rice. Everything was cooked perfectly and the staff was awesome. Will definitely be returning soon!
I come to this place all the time and the food and service is always extremely good. It’s the perfect Thai restaurant in a great location. Also they keep the interior of the restaurant in top top clean shape. Great place to eat at. 10/10 recommend.
I enjoyed vegan salad rolls. There are not many vegan options but they do list an icon by each menu item indicating if its vegan which is very helpful. Why many curries can't be vegan is because of the use of fish sauce or the curry paste they use has shrimp. If they offer a paste without shrimp then many more great items can be vegan. Thank you.
Thank you
I am so thrilled
The food was good
The customer service was good
My first time here
(Definitely not my last)
I highly recommend for
Good food
Good customer service
Nice calm place to eat and chill
Thank you all
The noodles that they use for the Pad Thai dish here are basically the noodles used for pho which are very small. These are not traditional noodles used in the overall Pad Thai dishes and result in not so great consistency and not good.
Excellent food and hospitality!! Friendly staff. Definitely will be going back.
Ordered mango sticky rice for two, with ice cream and they forgot the ice cream.
Second time ordering for 3. The pad Thai was really plain, not much flavor. The meat looked and tasted of low quality. The crab Rangoon tasted old. Not the best quality food, for Thai food, lacks in flavor.
Khao Yai is the place to experience amazing Thai cuisine, an incredibly welcoming atmosphere, and excellent service. I had the Thai tea with coconut milk that was creamy and delicious (it came with a lovely rose straw topper made of the straw wrapper!). It paired nicely with the Miang Kham we had for our appetizer (which was a pleasant surprise of different textures and refreshing flavor). I had the Khao Soi for my main course which was just sooooo delicious and well balanced. The curry was creamy and extremely flavorful. The crunchy noodles garnished on top gave a satisfying contrast to the noodles in the curry. The waiters always checked on us and refilled our waters and the staff created such a vibrant atmosphere to the restaurant. I am so glad that I went to Khao Yai and recommend it as a must try for anyone that is searching for an exquisite Thai food experience!
Fantastic food and service. The Khao SOI was top notch.
Lovely and attentive staff presented us with delicious options. I had the crispy chicken basil over rice. So good!
Delicious food and fantastic service
This place never disappoints! Our go-to Thai place for the area, we order from here on a regular basis.
Don’t go to any other Thai place anymore
This is the best by far
They were friendly and they were accommodating of preferences, but the food was just ok.
The Thai iced tea was good, no complaints there.
The tom kha was much thinner and less flavorful than I'm used to. It's possible it's a regional difference as I've just moved to the area and have been used to SF Bay Area Thai food. It was an ok soup, but just ok. It wasn't the flavorful, creamy soup I was expecting.
The pad Thai was light on flavor, color, and non-noodle components. The noodles also seemed more like glass noodle soup type noodles than pad Thai noodles.
Again, entirely possible it's a regional difference as this is the first Thai I've had since moving, but I found it to be underwhelming and definitely different from all the Thai places I was used to before moving. None of it was unpleasant and it felt relative healthy, it was just all light on flavor and failed to live up to the expectations that I came in with.
I've been coming here for over a year. It used to be weekly but not so much anymore. Anyways, I don't think I've ever had a bad meal here.
Great food
We have never been here, so i was looking at the menu the guy taking the order was a little pushy not very helpful, my wife got the pad thai she liked it i ordered and got some sirloin salad which i didnt even no it was a salad when odering it was my bad i just needed a little more time. The salad was way to spicy way to i could not eat it. The waiter should have seen that there was a problem and if they could fix it or replace it no such luck.
Drove by this Khao Yai Thai restaurant several times and finally had a chance to try out their food today (2022 Xmas day 🎄). The place was clean and nicely decorated with pictures from Thailand.
Their food was so yummy with the authentic Thai flavors which reminded me the food in Bangkok in 2019 (before Covid shutdown). Sai and Aood were so nice and welcoming. I thought Aood is the owner of this place (he looked like one) but he said no when I asked 😀. Same as Sai.
My favorite disk today was Pla Pad Cha. The fresh pepper from this this was great d from this dish 👍. Definitely will come back with friends and relatives soon.
Hi Sai, will visit later day - but not this eve for dinner as per your pleasant invitation when we left 😅. Highly recommend this Authentic flavor Thai food with reasonable prices ❤️
The food was delicious and the workers were very friendly. Never been disappointed!
We had to come back second time to make sure the good food we got was repeatable. They are! The frying technique of the chef is superb. No over-cooking here which is important for taste and nutrition. No real negatives to note. Fast and efficient staffs and the Best Thai food in Beaverton for sure!!!
So delicious I forgot to take pictures until most of the food was gone! The coconut breaded fried sweet potato and sweet and sour sauce was an excellent appetizer. The black sticky rice and sweet mangos dessert was the best I’ve had from local Thai restaurants. This soup in the picture is Tom Yum Gai and it tasted fresh and delicious, not too spicy. We will definitely come back!
TIP: Happy hour (4-6pm) appetizers are $1 off.
YUM YUM YUMMMY!!! Best Thai in town, great staff!
Great food and great staff!! One of our new favorite Thai places in the area
It was ok. I came here because its literally in my backyard and i didnt feel like driving to my normal place. I got Pad See Ew which is my favorite dish and usually what i get at any Thai place. Like i said it was ok. Ive had better and the portion was smaller then my normal place that charges the same.
This unassuming place packs great value, menu selection and quality of food into a cool space full of locals and visitors alike. Portions are enough to share and taste amazing
Top notch Thai food. Some unique dishes and typical Thai dishes. Both really good.
Pad Thai was a 6 out of 10. So 3 out of 5 stars it is. The service didn't stand out as anything above mediocre to change my thoughts. Good food, but not great.
Good pad khe mao, basil fried rice, and green curry. I love basil and they will add extra if asked. They get the spice just right, ask for medium and it’s a nice balance of hotness, still might be a little hot for the weaklings.
The food is delicious and the dining environment was greatly.
This is a wonderful place, beautifully decorated, beautiful food. It is clear the owners care about providing a quality experience for the customer and the food reflects that! I could eat this every day. I loved it so much I posted a 5 star review before I left the restaurant. :) Love it.
We dropped by this unassuming place after seeing the line was too long at a popular restaurant across the parking lot, and all of us like Thai food, so we took a chance. What a nice surprise Khao Yai was! A casual, pleasant atmosphere, and the food was excellent, for all 4 of us who dined there. I look forward to going back, as it was some of the best Thai I've had in the Beaverton area. I had the #25 Pumpkin Curry, my husband had the #39 Crispy Chicken with Crispy Basil which the waiter recommended, and our friends had the Pad Thai and the #37 Pork Belly with Basil Leaf. We all very much enjoyed our food, and the staff was very nice. We all felt the prices were reasonable, and portions were generous...most in the $13-$15 price range.
Excellent Thai food. The soft shell crab fried rice was delicious and presented a new experience getting to eat the fried soft shell crab! It was super tasty and something totally different. Both dishes complimented each other and made for a wonderfully unique experience. We’ll definitely be back for more!
First time to visit this place, very impressed with everything. The food tasted really good, we ordered Tom Kha, Pineapple Fried rice, and Pad Ka Pow. The people are very nice, the place is very clean, the food presentation was good, the meal portions are good, and most importantly we enjoined every minute eating the food and sipping on our strawberry lemonade and thai tea
We ate here on a whim and were pleasantly surprised! It was so so good! The pork belly is delicious, the prices were great, and the service was excellent. Will definitely be coming back!
The food is fresh, delicious, and great here. Prices are very reasonable. But the best part is service. We arrived for a birthday dinner with one guest on wheelchair, and they accommodated us beautifully, and made us feel so welcome. I can't wait to go back.
Small quantity , but good quality
Great food! Excellent customer service! Clean and friendly people all around!
Thanks!!
Best and most authentic Thai in the Portland metro! Many vegan options. Excellent and very friendly service as well.
They catered to my vegan needs. It was really nice. As their menus are notated for vegans
Lovely spot, delicious Massaman curry. Really fun fried sweet potatoes. Check em out.
Good food and nice environment 🙂 definitely will go again.
Vegan options- most can be made vegan. Food is fresh, authentic, delicious!
This place is excellent. We've been meaning to try it and finally did today. Food was great, service is super friendly and the cocktails are delicious
Too hot for a medium spicy level. I have a strong suspicion that they mixed my order with someone else’s. The person who handed me the food seemed so confused with the orders. The ambiance looked good.
The food is delicious 😋
We loved the Moo Ping. The server recommend it and we will definitely be back. The staff were very friendly and the prices were good. I highly recommend this place.
