Indulge in a culinary journey through the vibrant streets of Thailand right here in Dayton. Thai 9 Cuisine of Thailand & Sushi Restaurant invites you to savor the rich and aromatic flavors of authentic Thai cuisine combined with the delicate artistry of Japanese sushi.
The Thai dish i ordered was competent. Unfortunately this restaurant tries to do too many things and suffers from the " jack of all trades, master of none" problem with asian restaurants. If I'm going to a Thai restaurant your Thai food had better be amazing. I don't want to hear about your sushi options, that's not what I'm there for. This restaurant would benefit from tightening up their menu and reworking their Thai options so they're the star of the show. But, that's just my opinion.
I was so hungry and the food looked delicious, so I ate before taking the picture. I ordered the sour and hot mushroom soup (heat level 3), and the yellow chicken curry. The side salad that comes with the curry had onion dressing on it, so if you don’t want the onion dressing say so before the food arrives. The place felt comfortable and the interior designer did a great job!
I’m not an adventurous person, but the BF is, so we tried a local fav! Food was pretty good, they have such a variety - everyone should be able to find Something! Service was absolutely wonderful! Our waiter was kind, knowledgeable, and had great recommendations! We shared the COVID 19 roll, which was Delishhhh! Also shared the chicken satay, which was wonderful with the sauce they provided, adding their chili sauce and sriracha! BF had the pad Thai and I had the fish with chili sauce. BF loved my dish, said the chili sauce was what made the dish! We’ll definitely be back if we find ourselves in Dayton again!
I was so excited to try Thai 9. It’s been on my list for years. My boyfriend raved about it, but needless to say when I finally got a chance to try it out, I was so disappointed and so was he. The food was pretty good, but the service just ruined our whole experience. Our waitress asked us if we had ever been in and I told her it was my first time, she set down the menus and said she would be back. No run down about the menu, no suggestions, nothing.. She then came back 15 minutes later and asked if we made a decision. I ordered my dish and asked for a simple modification of adding basil to my dish, she confirmed, but I don’t think she wrote it down because it was missing when the food came. My drink order was messed up as well and the whole time, she was just so monotone and unenthusiastic. No emotion at all. Just seemed like she didn’t want to be there. We did not feel welcomed and felt more like a nuisance more than anything. Maybe she was just having a bad night, but I’ve been in the service industry for 15 years and have never come across such horrible service.
Thai-9 is a lovely atmospheric restaurant on the outskirts of the Oregon district. I went here after hearing about it from some friends so we decided to check it out. The food here is good and you get a reasonable quantity for the price you pay. I tried the roulette roll and the Thai 9 Special roll and they were decent quality but not super impressive. The Gyoza however was one of the best I’ve had in the Dayton area! I don’t recommend this place as a get together spot as it’s a bit too loud when it gets busy and it may be difficult to hear. Definitely a fun spot to come in and dine though!
I generally get the crab fried rice level 7 & possibly add chili oil.
we sat in the back room and it was very chilly- I had to cover my legs with my coat. It took a very long time for our food to arrive. My husband and I both ordered stir fry - seafood and chicken which arrived very hot and tasty. In the past I remember our waitress being more attentive and my moscato was supposed to be cold but was luke warm.
My BF and I ordered our food online. Gave us about a twenty minute time frame. We get there after twenty minute window and still had to wait another 15 minutes for the food to come out. We get back home ready to eat. The coco shrimp had NO flavor whatsoever. If not for the sauce that comes with it I wouldn’t have been able to eat the two out of the five that come in the meal. I ordered spicy fried noodles with egg noodles. Egg noodles. A broad flat noodle. Never seen those look any other way. I got lo mein noodles. My BF’s food, the house fried rice, wasn’t spicy and also had no flavor. I used to love this place and am seriously considering never going back.

To be honest food was really great, but our waitress ruined it, she was quite rude the entire time, I’m not sure if it’s because we weren’t dressed up nice like the table behind us, or if it was because I had neck tattoos. Either way she was quite rude, so I left only an 8.29 cent tip, she didn’t really deserve it, but after that she came back over to our table, looked at the paper and said “really an 8$ tip on a 150$ meal” I was so taken aback I didn’t even know what to say, I tip for service as I used to be a waitress, normally would’ve tipped a good 50$ on that table. We waited so long as well as it taking forever for her to get my husband another drink. I think sadly this ruined our first time here for us.
Really helpful waiter and tasty food!
my parents were visiting and it was a terrible experience.
the waiter was very rude and seemed annoyed we didn’t order appetizers or drinks. other than the heat levels not actually correlating to the heat level we ordered, my mom’s dish was SO SWEET she couldn’t even eat it. When we let the waiter know he laughed and said “oh yeah that’s one of the three dishes I never order because it’s so sweet” and he walked away
Food is great, but if you take reservations and can't seat them for over 30 minutes later, you're going to make people miss their Schuster shows. Just don't take reservations if that's the way you're going to handle it.
Great Thai Spot in Dayton!
Check their soups selection and Pad See Ew noodle, thank me later!
Best soup and food omg can't wait to go back
Little spicy at first, but the flavor was incredible!
Food was great, loved the wontons, and the service was just okay. Parking is horrible, but to be fare the whole area is horrible.
Was good about 15 years ago.
Now the dishes are cooked by non-Thai people who have so bastardized the recipes that it doesn’t even resemble Thai food.
The location will keep it going for a while.
Simply gross. Never again.
It's been a while since we drove up to Thai 9 but tonight was the night. We came super hungry and ready to get our favorites🤤
The Covid 19 roll and Russian Roulette roll were delicious 🍣
The pineapple fried rice was absolutely amazing 😍.
Highly remembered if you haven't been to Thai 9
A nice spot, the service is always great but the food is inconsistent and can be a little lackluster. I've had Thai 9 no fewer than 200 times over the last decade+ (My wife likes it) but the flavor of their food is never consistent and it it tends to lack balance. A Green curry will be way too sweet one time and a total fish sauce bomb the next. Their heat levels always have a different interpretation as well from one visit to the next. Their biggest sin is they don't serve their stir fry or curry dishes with fluffy, jasmine rice like every other Thai restaurant in the world. They use gloopy sticky rice. NO GOOD. With their prices, they need to be knocking it out of the park 100% of the time. $17 for fried rice with chicken is criminal.
Food was good.
Its mainly rice ??? Like the chicken is not seasoned at all like i could have went home to pay for rice.
Absolutely love the food, but we rarely visit any more because the parking lot is pay to park which is just ludicrous. We go to other Thai places in the burbs instead. (Friends picked Thai 9)
Heard of this place from a co-worker. First time back there in a long while, had the Thai 9 pepper garlic special. 3 on the heat was just enough for me. Maybe could have gone 4, but it was delicious, the portions are very large, so maybe eat half and save room for dessert. We split the FBI. Fried banana slices with that coconut ice cream drizzled with honey. WOW!
So much on the menu to try. Definitely need to come back. Very affordable as well. Atmosphere was nice even if maybe a little loud. (We sat upstairs) Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu as well.
I was so hungry and the food looked delicious, so I ate before taking the picture. I ordered the sour and hot mushroom soup (heat level 3), and the yellow chicken curry. The food is good. Pre-covid I ate lunch there once or twice a week. Haven't been back much since- just got out of the habit. Went for lunch on a whim the other day. Manager recognized me. Said "welcome back!" Which was nice. The kitchen was slow that day. All I did was ask my server "Hey, could change the order from dine in to carry out? I have a meeting." Manager apologized and comped the meal. Can't beat service like that. I'll def be coming back on the regular again.
My wife and I have been going to Thai 9 for 15+ years. I always enjoy the experience we have; service is a little bit slow, but if you are there to enjoy your company, then you have plenty of time for conversation. The food is always amazing and comes out fresh and hot every single time. I really enjoy spicy food, so I usually get a Thai spicy level of 6-7, and my wife gets a 3-4. The crab rangoon is phenomenal, and all the sushi is really good. I personally like the Pad See Ew with Chicken, and it never disappoints. Great date night spot.
Most fall into an acceptable meal. Nothing special
Great Crab Rangoon... what is that dipping sauce... omg! So tasty@
Very good! I will say I don't handle spice very well, but their level 3 was about at my limit. Parking/finding it was a little complicated, but overall worth it. Their menu is extensive to the point of being overwhelming, but if I lived locally, I would definitely go back to find my favorites.
Thai 9 is always a sure thing. Great food, excellent service, and wonderful atmosphere!
2024 update. The last couple of times we've been, the service has been subpar and the food ok. I'm sad such an amazing place has lost its shine.
The Massaman curry is seriously delicious!!
Great Food 💜
First timer, I'd have to return and try a few other things.I wasn't overly excited with what I have.It wasn't terrible but I don't know that I would get it again.
I’m not an adventurous person, but the BF is, so we tried a local fav! Food was pretty good, they have such a variety - everyone should be able to find Something! Service was absolutely wonderful! Food great. No longer validate parking. Dayton wonders why we go to the Greene...
This is my favorite restaurant in Dayton. The food is amazing. The building is amazing. The staff is amazing.
But fix the door! It stays open and if you’re sitting by anywhere near it, you freeze. The staff tries their best to close it when they walk by, doesn’t seem like the best use of time.
Seems like an easy fix….
Came in from Cincinnati as this place was highly recommended. Great service and even better good. Will definitely be back
Amazing for, great staff, nice location. Clean and spacious
The food here was very nice, and I recommend someone who enjoys Thai food to try it. I had to give 3 stars for my experience. When I got there, it was about 75% full, but it took my waitress about 15 to come take my order. Not a big deal, as they could have been short handed. The problem is it took nearly half an hour for my single dish to come out. The lady I assume was the GM served it to me and said they were busy in the back, but it hadn't really gotten any busier. She later came back to offer me wine as compensation, but as I don't really drink, I turned it down. That sealed it for me that it my dish was forgotten or something; she wasn't going around offering everyone something to make up for the long waits. If they just said, sorry, something went wrong, I'd have been fine with that. And since I don't drink, a few bucks off the bill would have been a nice gesture.
Not sure what the heck happened but my meal last night was suboptimal; my party had similar feelings.
For example, I ordered 8/10 spice level and it was on par with others 4/10. And, the food didn’t have its usual pop
It was carry out, so we didn’t get the usual great space of Thai9
Good food and spot
First My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the salad with the sweet onion salad dressing, outstanding!
Next, we enjoyed the Pad Thia. Huge portions.
Cannot stop thinking about the dressing!!!!
14 $ for 4 pieces of frozen tuna.
Always a pleasure eating here! The food is delicious!
ordered a egg noodle dish... much more expensive than the menu out front would make a reasonable person believe and a signifigant portion of the noodles were like 2 inches long making it very hard to eat with a fork. also lots of pieces of onion and bell pepper that were too large to eat in an enjoyable manor had to pick around them.
This used to be one of our favorite places. My wife ordered her meal, they brought it out wrong, took it back , then brought it back , no seasoning. She took it home , added seasoning and ate it at home.
I attempted to get the managers attention, he ignored us as we waited , and waited for the wrong food . Our server spent her time staring at her phone. Although this used to be a favorite, we won't be back for a while, if ever.
Fair warning, there is a $3.25 fee to park in the public parking lot. Not a big deal in the scheme of things, but add another 5 minutes to your arrival time.
The food was excellent. We we to dinner just before a show at the Schuster Center. The food was excellent and it was a short ride to the theatre.
One of my favorite places to bring my out of town guests. Always delicious food, good drinks, and friendly service. I recommend the Singapore noodles with seafood.
Good Eating!!!!
Made a reservation a week in advance for my homecoming dinner. That day at 2pm they texted me saying my reservation was confirmed but when I got there they were closed due to a power outage. It is ridiculous that no employees notified me of this and instead let the confirmation message get sent to me.
I often visit this establishment and consistently enjoy the meals and cocktails offered.
During my recent visit, I ventured to try a new menu item, the Thai sausage.
Additionally, I sampled a vegetarian dish, and the basil stir fry with mock duck (not pictured).
The cocktail I enjoyed was The 21 Bourbon.
Every aspect of my dining experience was delightful!
Best Thai. Singapore noodle and Massaman curry favorites. Large portions. Excellent Thai tea!
Very good Chinese food restaurant.
You can’t beat this place as a lunch option if in the area. Price and serving size is great. You will have leftovers for sure.
One of my favorite places to eat in the Dayton area. The food is always great. Love the Pad Thai.
This place has great atmosphere and great food along with their great service. It's a little hard to navigate to this place, but it is worth it.
i enjoy going to thai 9, but over the time of me going there (about 10 years), i have noticed the service and food quality has gone down a bit, still an enjoyable time though.
So very delicious. Great food, great atmosphere, truly a wonderful experience. I sat at the sushi bar, and while I didn't have sushi, it was amazing to watch them work. Beautiful presentation. My meal was very good. I like food on the spicy side and there level 5 spice was just on the upper end of what my pallet can take. I look forward to going back here again.
Love the food and atmosphere!
Fantastic Thai food. Huge portions. Arrive hungry!
NOT authentic Thai. (I’ve spent a year in Thailand). The Thai dishes are not even remotely recognizable to what the authentic dish is. So you will be very disappointed if you like authentic Thai.
Instead order one of their own creations or stick with sushi or something.
Feels like a place of hidden demonic people running this joint. Guy with the hat with the black & white blazers seems to not speak when you walk in. His energy ain’t been right since 2022. I will not be coming back here.
Ok..I forgot to take a pic of my food. I had the pineapple chicken fried rice. It was so good. You decide what level spice you want. I got a 4. Dang it was spicy. But after a few bites your mouth goes numb. There were 6 of us and everybody liked their food. The kitchen was running behind so it took a while. I definitely recommend it. Just make sure you're not in a hurry.
Been here a couple times and it’s been great each time. This review is based on my most recent visit.
Wife and I joined a group of friends for a late night dinner. I ordered the Spicy Fries Noodles (egg noodles, with pork - spice level 5). My wife ordered the Panaeng Curry - spice level 5. Both were outstanding.
Spice level 5 was perfect for me. More than enough for me to feel the heat but not so much that the dish was inedible.
I don’t usually participate in the “clean plate club”. Typically I’ll bring some of my dinner home. Not on this visit though. Ate it all, and don’t feel the least bit bad about it. It was awesome!
Definitely recommend dining here.
Ate at the bar, bartender was terrible, and she usually on her game, I think she treated me wrong because of a Conflict of difference, Bartender is Beautiful, 😍, MAYBE IT'S MY FAULT
I chose to eat here based upon the +2k reviews with 4.8 stars. Unfortunately I can not report the same...I'd give them a 3.5. My Thai Basil Chicken dish (spice level 9) had a heavy 'gravey-like' sauce which reminded me more of a US based Chinese dish than traditional Thai. I did not try other dishes as this is the same dish I order while I travel throughout the US. Pro...wait staff was friendly...seated quickly and the bell peppers seemed fresh.
It seems like something about the fried rice has changed. It isn’t as flavorful as it was before the owner change.
Nice place and some sweet/hot dishes. Remember to get parking refund ...
Gluten free options
Stir fry with shrimp great and large portions
Exceptional service. Donald was perfect! My pad Thai was amazing, as was the crab Rangoon. Thai 9 never disappoints!
The red curry 🍛 is amazing.
I would recommend this dish if you enjoy thai food.
Excellent food and excellent service.
Probably the best panang curry I've ever eaten! Service was great and the atmosphere is very inviting. The food was absolutely incredible with amazing taste and great portion sizes. New favorite Thai place hands down!
It was extremely hot in the restaurant. The food wasn't as good as I anticipated. The waiter was great!
The best mango salad I have ever had.
Get the Thai Tea, you won’t regret it! Sea food clay pot and duck basil are out of this world. Whenever my husband and I go (which is often) we make sure to tip the waiter/waitress as well as the younger well mannered black gentleman who serves us water and helps clean up tables ❤️ I wish I knew his name I would love to give him a shout out!
we were really excited to try this place as it was recommended to us, but we’re highly disappointed. we waited an hour and 30 mins for our takeout, just for it to be over salted, with undercooked rice and really unappetizing duck. would not recommend.
Great food and sushi. Our group had Yellow Curry, Pad Thai, and Pineapple Fried Rice. All were delicious.
Decided to take my wife and daughter out for dinner. I surprised them with Thai 9. Epic failure. They treated us like below average black people. Dinner never came. We left. Never again…
Order our food before a couple tables was seated. Tables that were seated after us got their food before us. When asking our waiter Miranda where our food was she made a snotty comment of “it’s a coming they back there making it” RUDE!! At that point we were ready to go. Asked for our check and Miranda had the audacity to ask if we wanted our food boxed up like we were some dogs!!!! Swear I think the waiter was racist. Asked for a discount for the bad service we received a discount! To my people of color if you go here please don’t get the! racist waiter Miranda!!!
Delicious

Thai Nine is a fantastic Thai food restaurant. The food selection is vast and everything is well prepared. Even when the place is filled to capacity, the service is prompt. I recommend trying the Tom Kah Gai Soup. Coconut milk broth with cilantro seasoning It is very good.
I wanted to give a big THANK YOU to our server, Bronson. My family came into Thai 9 for lunch today. The food and service was outstanding!! Our three year old daughter was with us. She asked for ketchup with her Chicken Satay. Thai 9 does not carry ketchup in the kitchen. However, Bronson took it upon himself, to walk over to Jay’s Seafood, and find some ketchup for his young customer. Bronson went above and beyond!! That was so kind and thoughtful, and our daughter was thrilled! Thank you for the wonderful lunch, we will be back this week :)
Unfortunately I did not enjoy my lunch today. I typically love food from Thai 9. However, the food wasn’t great at all.
Highly recommend! The food is delicious and service has always been outstanding. I can can recommend anything good to eat, I would recommend their fried rice, sushi and curry!
Great food, funky decor. Enjoyed our visit. This was the first time I had been there. Walking into the restaurant from the adjacent parking lot was interesting - it initially appeared to be a tunnel or unique corridor, but leads to an open courtyard with tables and a balcony with more seating visible. The restaurant appears to have three main rooms on the first floor, each with it's own decor. The waitress was friendly and efficient - excellent service throughout the meal. Fairly extensive menu, many interesting options. Good was prepared quickly and was flavorful. I had the spicy chicken. My friend had a chicken curry. Lots of heat, but outstanding flavor.
Thai9 is a great go-to if you are ever in the area. Portion sizes are large and well worth the price point. Flavors are fantastic and they always aim to please.
The Holy Basil stir fry at a 5/9 spice level is amazing. Pair that with the crab Rangoon and dip it into the soy sauce with bites of white rice 🍚 omg!
The food is always good. Busy during lunch but food still comes out hot.
Food was delicious! Very busy night, we were seated quickly, but took way too long to put in a drink order. By the time our friendly server got to us, we put in our food order at the same time and this was our first time at Thai 9 so it’s not like we knew what we wanted to order.
The floors and tables were very sticky (my wine glass stuck to the table, had to be careful every time I picked it up)but I think that was due to the cleaner used. Again, food was delicious, everyone was very friendly, it was a busy night. Will definitely try again.
This is a restaurant that delivers each time that I've been there. The food has been on point in my few visits. I'll be visiting this again when I'm in the mood for great Thai food.
Waited hour for my food. Worst place ever to go
Overall I enjoy Thai 9. I love the building and the staff are always friendly and attentive. It’s got a fun atmosphere and I’ve had very good experiences with the food at time.
However,
I’ve been here many times over the years and there’s consistent inconsistency… some days food is phenomenal and fresh, other days the same dish will be disappointing and taste like it was cooked out of a bag.
I wish there was more consistency with the food, because when it’s good it’s really good, but there are definitely days where it’s a noticeable difference in how it’s cooked.
Went to celebrate my birthday. Had sushi chef choice and then entrees. Everything was delicious
Ate on the patio! Great food!
Head over to Premium Thai and Sushi and thank me later
Had my wedding rehearsal dinner here since my wife and I had such a good time here while we were engaged. The food is really good. Theres a wide variety without it being too much at reasonable prices for a upscale restaurant. I love the fact that they repurposed the place from what was no doubt a turn of the century warehouse too! It gives it a nice level of charm. A wonderful place for a date night or a group outing!
Extremely rude staff. I called at 7pm on Wednesday even to try and make a reservation for my daughters birthday. The male host answered, then dropped the phone and I heard him and a female laughing. He then put me on hold so they could laugh hysterically about dropping the phone.
Once he returned, he told me they were all booked up for the entirety of Thursday night and we “could walk in” and then hung up on me.
The ownership should be aware of this staff member.
We (including 4 kids!) love Thai 9!
One of my favorites
Never a disappointment, food is always wonderful service is even better.
This is a Gem.
Outstanding food.
Comfortable environment.
Exceptional service.
Don't miss it!!!
called 25 minutes before they close to place a carryout order and got told they were done for the night. why even answer the phone? why even claim you close at 10 if you stop accepting orders at 9:35?
Great place. The food was good. The service was prompt, but the food and the check took a long time to get to us. It was a pretty busy night, but a party larger than us was sat, ate, and left right around the time we got our whole parties food. That being said, the good was delicious. Just don't go there if you're in a hurry. There is public (paid) parking right by the place, including EV charging spots.
Every time me and my friend got a chance to swing by Thai 9. It is by far the best Thai food in Dayton
Some of the best Thai food I have ever had in my life. Wonderful place to dine in!
Not nearly as good as it used to be. We didn't get a salad or soup choice, one person's noodles were way spicier than ordered. Mine was less spicy than ordered and the quality of our meals was lower than it used to be. Also our server was not very good and possibly high. This saddens me because this was my favorite restaurant.
I order take out at least once a week. Today, I ordered thai spicy stir fry. The description calls for red curry and it was not any. The food was soupy. It didn't taste the same at all. I will not be back for awhile.
It was wonderful. Fresh, hot and delicious. Service was outstanding.
If you order take out, open each container and check it before leaving the restaurant. We ordered 3 entrees, and I checked to see that the 3 containers had the correct info on the outside. Got home and 2 of the containers had no sauce on them! Basically had steamed vegetables with some for dinner.
Best sushi in Dayton! Pad thai is on point as well. We’ve never had a bad experience. 10/10!
Stepping into this downtown Thai restaurant, you're greeted by a cozy yet authentic atmosphere. The service here is awesome, with staff going out of their way to offer trending recommendations, making every guest feel special.
The food is where this place truly shines. Each dish, from the tangy soups and salads to the rich Yello Curry, is a burst of authentic flavors and fresh ingredients. The Pad Thai deserves a special mention for its perfect blend of sweet, sour, and savory, making it a dish you'll crave long after your meal.
Innovative takes on traditional dishes add a delightful twist, ensuring there's something new for even the most seasoned Thai cuisine aficionados. We thoroughly enjoyed the Chicken Coconut Milk Soup, Rainbow Roll, Mango Chicken, Yellow Curry along with some Pineapple Poppers and 21's!
Thai 9 isn't just about great food; it's about an experience that combines impeccable service with an inviting atmosphere. Highly recommended for anyone seeking authentic and creatively prepared Thai dishes!
This is now my favorite Thai place. Try the pad wun sen. It's rare to find this at most Thai places. Sooooo good. Our waiter was fantastic, she took great care of us.
Wonderful food and service best Thai food in the area!!
The food was amazing.
Fantastic food, waitstaff, and atmosphere!
We're definitely going back!
The ambiance of this restaurant is so beautiful! Quickly greeted, great servers and the quality of food is impressive. HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Coco Shrimp (appetizer) and the Chicken Pineapple Fried Rice. Best Thai cuisine in Dayton area!
Great variety . One of my favorites
