I was expecting more from the high ratings. My food itself wasn't bad, but my parents meals were nothing special. Mom's pad Thai was bland and my dad's Thai spicy was literally just chicken drowned in chili oil topped with chili flakes. I literally don't know how he ate it because it smelled and looked atrocious. Service was decent enough but the atmosphere just wasn't there.
Mango Tree & Sushi Restaurant
After returning to Mango Tree & Sushi Restaurant after many years, we found that while the food remains excellent, other aspects of the experience could use some improvement.
Ambiance: 3/5
The interior hasn't changed over the years, giving it a somewhat dated and worn appearance. An update to the decor could significantly enhance the dining atmosphere.
Food Quality: 4.5/5
The culinary offerings continue to impress. We ordered the Nigiri platter, which featured a good variety of fresh sashimi. The miso soup was particularly delicious, showcasing the kitchen's skill. The standout dish was the Kua Guai noodle - a dish so good it alone would bring us back.
Service: 3/5
There was only one server on duty, who, while efficient, seemed fatigued and slightly brusque. This could be attributed to it being the end of a long day, but it did impact our dining experience.
Overall: 3.5/5
Despite the dated decor and service issues, the excellent food - especially the Kua Guai noodle - makes Mango Tree & Sushi Restaurant worth revisiting.
However, improvements in ambiance and service consistency would greatly enhance the overall experience.
Felt for our waiter, it was busy for a Sunday evening. Was super apologetic and the food was great. Loved his response when asking him if the tuna roll was “ground tuna” (which it’s not). His immediate response was disappointment in restaurants in the Cincy area that do so.. And said it’s disgusting lol Couldn’t agree more my man. I’ll be back the tuna roll was on point!
The food is just delicious 🤤, every item is heavenly scrumptious 😋. The service is quick but the quality is so damn great 👍🏼. Ordered chicken satay, fried veggie dumplings, veggie hot basil fried rice, double eggs hot basil fried rice, garlic black pepper served with rice, and mango sticky rice 😍. Believe me each item we ordered was wow wow wow 🤩
Very good Thai place. We had the Thai iced teas, oh my gosh they were delicious.
The curry was also delicious and had a very pleasant spice level for both heat and seasoning. The ultimate tuna roll was massive and worth it.
I’m very happy to find out this place is only 7 minutes from my house!
Delicious every time! The owners are super nice. Order sushi for events, they do an excellent job.
The Ultimate California Roll is phenomenal!
Best Thai and Sushi in all of Cincinnati. The food is amazing and the staff is the BEST.
Great.
Seaweed salad is the best!!!
Some people I know recommended this restaurant. Sadly it didn't meet my expectations. Appetizers were not great. Entree was just okay

Never let's me down whenever I want curry
👍🏼
My fiancée and I love Thai food. When our usual spot was closed on a Sunday, we pivoted to Mango Tree. The massaman curry was fantastic; I’d provide a picture but we both devoured our portions without hesitation. We will definitely return and try other offerings.
This is by far the best sushi in Cincinnati. Everything is fresh all the time. They are also so kind. I often order takeout at the very end of their day because of my work hours, and they always make it quickly. Once, they even remade my order (some minor mistakes that were partially due to my being unclear on the order form) to my house! You can’t ask for better food, nicer people, or better service.
Very enjoyable
I have the pleasure of visiting this place weekly. The food is always great, the service is always amazing. The sushi bento lunch box checks all of my boxes with it’s awesome variety of choices.

The food was very good. I felt the portions were a little small; I was hungry still after my entrée. I'd recommend getting appetizers or something extra.
Small place with terific lunch options. Clean and efficient . Spicy as an option.
Would be on regular rotation if I lived in the area.
Small place but all the dishes and spices are from scratch. Nice folks too.
Love the Thai Street Food on the menu
Great vegan options, great service, everything was delicious across the menu. Highly recommend.
I am deeply disappointed with my recent experience at Mango Tree. Once renowned for its high-quality cuisine, the restaurant has clearly fallen from grace. The Pad Thai was an abomination of flavors, the sushi was mediocre at best, and the chicken satay tasted like it had been reheated multiple times. To add insult to injury, they served me watered-down miso soup, all at luxury food prices. Save your money and your taste buds; avoid this place at all costs. Extremely disappointing, especially when trying to celebrate an occasion.
We ordered carry out and the massaman curry was outstanding. Well done, chef! This is our favorite Thai food in the city.
We had family in town and ordered takeout twice from The Mango Tree. Both times we had a very large order and I have to say that not only was the food delicious, but we were so impressed that our order was correct both times No mistakes! The menu was just what we needed to satisfy all of our guests’ dietary needs. Also, we were happy with the prices. Very reasonable.
Good pad thai and fresh sashimi and sushi
Since moving to Ohio, I have had a plague upon my house- lame, boring, midwestern "thai" food basically more like noodle casserole than a meal designed to unclog your sinuses, sober you up, and cool you off on a sweltering 40C Thai summer day.
enter: Mango Thai, where they were NOT too cat-like to give me the full 5/5 spice 5 alarm treatment.
Believe me. I am tired of asking for 4/5, 5/5, or "thai spicy" and getting something more akin to a single splash of tabasco. Not here, I got a true 5/5 setting my mouth on fire just as I wanted, finally, a place that does not hold back- and close to my house means I'll be back frequently.
Order: Drunken Noodles 5/5, and it was perfect. I loved it.
Very small place but amazing foods
Best Thai on the east side. Living in Anderson has made it hard to find good Thai. Worth the trip to Mariemont to get their Curry and Gyoza 🥟
Amazing lunch deals. The food was very good and quick service
Our absolute favorite for pad see ew, pad thai, and lo mein here locally. It's a neighborhood spot that feels easy to visit a couple times weekly, always a casual fun time and even when it's super busy, the staff is kind, patient, and attentive. Has been a go-to for dine in and takeout for me for years!
Always amazing food, great service and authentic Thai & Sushi at a good price. Tried every Thai restaurant in the city and this is easily in my top 5. Highly recommend.
We usually love the food here. But ordered takeout today of Thai Basil Chicken spicy, thai basil tofu spicy and pad Thai along with some gyoza and spring rolls. BothThai basil dishes were very bland and watery tasting mostly of fish sauce. It’s cold and rainy and not worth driving back to get fixed. Disappointing New Years Eve meal.
This place has great teriyaki chicken!
Great option for Thai!
Love the sushi and Rangoon’s ❤️
I came here at 5:00 on a Friday evening, we were seated very quickly and serviced very quickly. I would come again
Was very pleasantly surprised by the wonderful food and service of Mango Tree! Came here for my college graduation with a party of eight. The mango pineapple curry and assorted sushi were delicious. Nice thick and creamy coconut milk, generous portions and hearty vegetables in the curry. I ordered a spice level 2 and it was decent! Thank you for making this dinner so special.
Great red curry.
Wonderful panang curry !
Last night, I dined in at Mango Tree for the first time. It was a GREAT experience!! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was enjoyable, and my server Grace was a doll. She made the experience for me! The crab rangoons were the best I’ve ever had.
The food was amazing but what made my experience was the service. I was served by Leah, she did a great job. She was super nice and attentive!
I have been coming here for years now. Never once have I ever had such terrible service. From the moment we walked in, I asked if it were possible to sit outside and immediately got an eye roll from Kylee (a server), as if she was annoyed everyone wanted to sit outside. Mind you, there were maybe 4 other parties outside and 1 party inside when we arrived. We decided to not be a hassle and to just sit inside. Well, Kylee was our server. Every part of the service was awful. She greeted us and didn’t seem happy at all. We understand sometimes you can have rough days being a server (my guest and I are both current servers), but to say we felt unwelcomed is an understatement. She never asked us how our food was or asked for refills (I sat there for a good while without a refill). Anytime Kylee came to the table she would barely talk to us, not even a “you’re welcome” when we thanked her….nothing. The only time she somewhat talked to us is when she asked if we wanted the bill. Now this is the part that infuriates me. When she took both mine and my guests card to check out, she walked straight to the kitchen and was in there for 5 mins, came out delivered food MULTIPLE times, took an order from a table, refilled drinks for another table. All while having a card either in her pocket or in the kitchen, we aren’t sure. Coming from a serving point of view, we would NEVER hold onto someone’s card for 8+ minutes doing other tasks, you should immediately check the guest out and give their card back. We are disappointed as we love Mango Tree so much, but truthfully Kylee made us feel unwelcomed in the near future. My advice to her… be more friendly, we all go through our own personal matters. I promise it is not hard to speak to a table and put a smile on your face.
Mango Tree used to be my favorite restaurant. I had taken my kiddo there many times in the past. I also always took anyone from out of town there. However, today is the last day I will ever go back. Our food was delicious as normal. Our waitress was great. The owner was RUDE. We sat outside since we had 2 kiddos with us. Both kids were content and quiet the entire time, really couldn't behave behaved any better. The toddler accidentally dropped a few pieces of food on the ground. No big deal anywhere else. We had intended on cleaning it. The owner came out and was extremely rude about needing to clean it immediately. He scooted himself between our kids, cleaned it (with one single napkin because there was so little on the ground) while making comments about it being hot and food being down there. It was incredibly uncomfortable and felt like a slap on the wrist for cringing our kids.
Awesome food! Green curry was sooo tasty 👍
Mango Tree is the best sushi in Cincinnati!
The food was great. One of the few places that have Thai Yellow Curry Noodle Soup. The Pad Thai was also tasty. I'll be coming back to this spot.
Great local Thai spot. The red curry is my personal favorite and their spring roll sauce is delicious. My go-to carry out!
Customer service was maybe the worst customer service I’ve ever had. Food quality was bad tho.
it was very yummy, the servers were always there to ask how everything was and refill drinks, very cute place too
So sad!! Used to be great but they have incompetent, unfriendly staff now.
This little restaurant is tucked away in a strip mall but it is worth the time to search it out. So yummy! Great Pad Thai!
The food was delicious. Pad Thai, curry and several different sushi rolls.
We order take out from here regularly. Love the Mango Tree roll, Ultimate California roll and Red Dragon. Crab Rangoon are YUM!!
Sushi is great and fresh! The sweet potato roll is also a must try! I was left wanting more after finishing my takeout order! Will be returning!
So delicious! Always great service- dine in or carry out
Good food, however I was told 30 minutes for a takeout order and I ended up waiting for over an hour total.
This place was my go-to spot until someone in the kitchen stopped seasoning the food. I even called and drove back to have them remake my pad thai with the usual seasoning and nothing was different on the 2nd attempt :(
Our favorite place for sushi and pad Thai at the same restaurant
Got red curry with chicken for takeout, the flavor was excellent but it was very light on chicken, with only 4ish small and thin strips included in the whole bowl. I think you'll get better protein value for your money at other area Thai places
Best sushi I've ever had, get the mango roll!!
Awesomeness
The venue is small but mighty. Love th place
Yum favorite
Best Sushi in the area. I recommend Ultimate California Roll and the Ultimate Sushi Roll
Went to Mango Tree last night and tried one of their new rolls, Tom Yum Kung roll. It was delicious! The staff was very kind and accommodating. My new favorite place to go to for dinner. Will definitely be going back soon!
I love this place. The food is always amazing and the service is spectacular. The owner is almost always there and takes so much pride in the quality of food and service. We are so blessed to have this gem in our community!
One of my favorite sushi spots around! The owner and staff are friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere is great!
Great food! Amazing staff and atmosphere!
This is one of my favorite places to go to for lunch. The service is always fast and friendly, and the food is amazing!
Very clean! Great atmosphere! Fresh food! Amazing staff, especially our server Leah! It was our first time dining here. Leah was very helpful and patient with us, as we asked lots of questions. We will be coming back!
Owner is extremely rude and will rush you out
Great service and food. Wish they had double doors to keep the cold air from coming in. Wasn’t bad just would have made it an even better experience.
t here for dinner tonight to catch up as she’s been traveling a ton for work. The owner came to our table and asked if we needed a box as we had been talking and hadn’t eaten hardly any of our food. I told him no, sorry we’ve been talking a ton and that was the reason we hadn’t touched our food. He looked at me and rudely said, just say no when I ask you or not. I stopped and said excuse me and he walked off. The waitress asked if everything was ok and I said no. I informed her of what happened and what was said and she apologized but said she couldn’t do anything because he was the owner. He returned after hearing me say this to her and said he didn’t understand why I felt that way and I informed him that he was rude and that’s not how you communicate with people especially if they are customers. He walked off shaking his head saying sorry. I also want to mention that he continued to walk past our table staring and wanting us to leave. Needless to say that we did leave and didn’t take our food with us. This was the absolute worst experience that I’ve had in cincy and I will be sure to share this with other people who are relocating to the area. Please avoid this place at all costs.
Delish
Only reason this place is getting a one star is due to the food was great.
We were seated and had to wait about 15 mins before our order was taken. Then we received our food about 10-15 mins later. We were eating when the owner came over and was reaching over our plates and telling us he had people waiting to be seated and we needed to hurry up. At this point we had maybe had our food 20 mins or so. We wanted to order ice cream and he said no, had people waiting and was short staffed and wasn’t going to make anything else for us.
Pretty much told us to leave while we were eating and had not even brought us our bills.
Very rude and the waitress never even checked on us at all.
So in less in an hour we got good food and HORRIBLE service. What a sad little restaurant.
Closes at 9:30 and we arrived at 8:45 and was empty. But the good was freshly made and the service was great! Will be back next time I'm in town.
I ATE THE WHOLE THING! All of us agreed the food was delicious. I expected to take some Kua Gai Noodles home, but NOPE! It was the best kind of comfort food on a chilly night. Can’t wait to return.
My favorite Thai restaurant. Always very good.
Delicious!
Very polite service, great food (especially the tiger roll and spring rolls), good prices
Best Sushi in the TriState, I recommend Ultimate California Roll and the Ultimate Spicy Tuna Roll.
Very nice environment. Great Music... Nice staff, but sometimes the bartenders don't seem like they want to be there lol.. Ohhh.. and I have a problem with the fact that they charge 11.00 and some change for 5 wings.. that's ridiculous!! The wings are decent, but not worth paying for in that amount. Highway Robbery. Now 10 wings for 12.50 or 13.00 with fries, I can see that! Stop over charging for no reason. Money is going to be spent regardless. People spend more when they get better deals. Ijs..
The Bento Box lunch special is my favorite thing and the prices are fantastic! The food is fantastic and a must have
Food is great, Service could be tweaked abit staff seem to be disenchanted at times.
Always good. Nice people
The food is just delicious 🤤, every item is heavenly scrumptious 😋.
The duck is out of this world good. Duck can be greasy. But not at this restaurant! Perfectly prepared.
Has anyone experienced being blocked from calling this restaurant? I called and placed an order for pineapple curry fried rice and asked for light curry. The owner who answered the phone told me that was not possible. I told him I always ordered it that way to which he responded that he could add water to my order. When my husband got home with the wrong order, I tried to call the restaurant and it went straight to voicemail. I tried several times and each time it went to voice mail. I then had my husband call on his phone and the owner answered the phone. Now when my husband calls them his number goes straight to voice mail. Something out of a Seinfeld episode. So funny that I can’t stop laughing. It is absolutely hilarious!!! Jokes on him we are moving. Lol
Great sushi and a good peach saki. Friendly service.
Fresh fairly authentic foods
Not real Thai food! My wife is Thai and from Thailand and I have lived in Thailand. Mango tree does not tastes like look like a represent what we get back home at all. If you want real Thai food go to sukhothai
Had dinner at this quaint little place last night! The food was great! It had just the perfect amount of spice as well as portion size and the server was attentive. I'd go back there again...
Probably the best local Thai joint in town. Seriously, it's great. Indoor dining gets crowded bit worth it.
Great food and service. Awesome sushi. Very friendly atmosphere.
Everything tasted so good and fresh. The staff were kind and the food even looked beautiful
Lunch was fresh, fast.Good.
Best Thai food in this area. I have tried most of the other Thai places so I say this without reservation. Best undiscovered jewel in restaurants. My favorite is their cashew nut sauce followed by their curries. Healthy food, lots of veggies. Outdoor seating available in nice weather. Very reasonable prices.
Got level two and three spiciness. Food has zero spiciness.
Chairs need wiped down badly. Cream chair show that they have not cleaned them… maybe ever.
They also charge a food tax? Weird.
Food tastes good. Portions are ok.
Wine list is very small.
Overall just ok.
Great food and good service. The chicken wings with sticky rice were a hit. Great variety and well presented plates. Only reason not 5 stars was the continuous take out orders on a cold night let in the cold air often.
Having eaten a lot of Asian food in the US, Indonesia (where I lived for 15.5 years) and Singapore (which I visited several times while in Indonesia), I like to think I know a bit about the subject.
I ordered our food on the phone and then picked it up to eat at home. At no point did they ask me about spiciness, which should've been automatic. Also, when I ordered 3 sides of rice, the lady asked if I wanted 2 or 3, making a statement that suggested that one of the meals came with rice. I ordered 2 extras, and was not given the third she'd referenced.
I cannot comment on the restaurant and dining service since I didn't even sit down. After telling me the total, the cashier walked away and the hostess took her place, which I thought was a bit rude.
Fried calamari came with a weak sweet & sour sauce. The octopus was fresh and the sauce was nice, but this was not special.
The summer roll was almost devoid of any flavor other than the mild flavor of the shrimp and all the veggies, resulting in a very bland flavor. I added my daughter's wasabi and pickled ginger to make them enjoyable.
The chicken satay was properly cooked but had a bland peanut sauce.
The fried shu may (aka siomay) tasted fine but didn't have any spices added to give it character or an Asian flavor. It came with watered-down soy sauce.
The Siam Trio was cooked right but was pretty boring due to a very subdued sauce. I couldn't differentiate between the chicken and pork visually, just by taste. The beef was unremarkable.
The salmon roe nigiri was as expected - a fishy, salty flavor with nothing offered to complement it other than watered-down soy sauce. It definitely is an acquired taste for some.
The volcano roll sushi was one of the better items, although it was not exceptional. It came with watered-down soy sauce, wasabi and pickled ginger. The wasabi was fresh and the ginger tasted good without being overpowering.
The yellow curry was the highlight of the meal for me as it tasted very nice. It was made entirely with local vegetables, and I had them use tofu.
Given the cost vs the flavor, quantity and cost of the ingredients, this is an over-priced restaurant that doesn't deserve its current rating. I had hoped the few negative reviews were outliers but now I can see why. Mango Tree seems to skimp by using fewer spices than are advisable, resulting in food that is not identifiably Thai, and they use mostly locally-available vegetables, allowing them to have a massive profit margin instead of offering moderately authentic dishes. My kids and I agree that it wasn't worth it.
Food's fine, a little overpriced but definitely take it to go.
Enjoyed the food
Superb sushi, and the Thai street food menu is amazing! The Ka Soi Gai is probably one of the best Thai dishes i've ever had!
I’ve enjoyed my food each time I’ve ordered! Sometimes in the evening it’s a bit of a wait, but it’s been worth it!
Not my favorite but not bad! Service was great!
We placed a order for pickup. When our son brought home the order, one entree was missing. I understand the issues that restaurants face during good times. And I understand what they are facing now. But the response that the missing entree could be ready in 40 minutes is unacceptable. They need to learn the term "on the fly". They had the "courtesy" to credit the price of the missing item though...
EDIT: The owner called me in person. He apologized for the issue. Mistakes happen. How they are handled matters a lot. His personal contact was significant.
Service and food were top shelf. Can’t wait to go back!
amazing !!!! everything was absolutely perfect.
Service was prompt and pleasant. Food was only so-so.
Bento box lunch special is amazing! The wings are the bomb. Such good food.
Food and service were excellent.
I love every dish I get here! Always delish!
I'm very confused by the many positive reviews on this place. I was very much looking forward to trying this restaurant but the Massaman Curry (overly sweet) and Chicken Satay (not marinated long enough and kind of bland) were sub par and the Chicken Pad Thai especially was abhorrent. I've eaten a lot of Pad Thai, but this Pad Thai smelled and tasted like licking an old couch at a broken down antique mall. At first I thought maybe it was the fish sauce but it definitely wasn't. I've had bland pad Thai, and overly fishy pad Thai, and too sweet pad Thai, etc, but none of them were so bad that I literally couldn't eat more than a few bites out of sheer disgust. Again, very confused by the multiple reviews saying that this was the best Pad Thai they ever had. Maybe I just got a bad batch? Staff was very nice and the food came out super fast. Maybe the sushi is better?
Service and clean restaurant was exceptional! Food is the very best. We had sushi and Thai. Fresh food Will be back soon. I loved it. Thank you guys !! Well done
Great sushi, great service will definitely be back.
Very Kind People, and amazing food.
The food is exceptional, owner and staff are as good as you'll ever find. First rate in every respect.
Food and service was great, as always!
We tried a few different things and was impressed with everything we had. We will keep this on our short list of Thai places!
Fantastic food, knowledgeable friendly wait staff; extensive gluten free offerings. I will definitely be back and be bringing friends.
