Informal, contemporary Thai eatery for stir-fries, noodles & sushi served in relaxed environs.
While visiting my hometown of Cincinnati, my brother and sister-in-law took me to the green papaya on Wasson Road. I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere, the service and the food! We visited on a Sunday night so the parking was plentiful. I had the miso soup, ginger salad, and the tempura shrimp and vegetable combo all fried perfectly. I had a taste of my sister-in-law‘s Choo Chee curry. I didn’t think I liked curry, but that was delicious. It had sweet undertones. I didn’t get a photo of my brothers coconut soup, but I can tell you I wished I had gotten that instead of the miso soup. Rich, flavorful and mild coconut with tofu. I have to say the Ta Ta roll was the star of the show! It’s a must have and slightly fried for a crunchy rice outer texture. I highly recommend the green papaya restaurant for anyone who loves really good Thai food and sushi.
The server was short, not very friendly. The veggie dumplings could have been fried longer. Whatever seasoning they used, it taste like sassafras. I didn't like it at all. I got the crazy fried rice. Parking is awful, the menu was stapled together lol. It looks like a s*** hole on the outside.
Went here for an impromptu early dinner as we needed to fuel up before a night concert nearby so we decided to order some appetizers of fried tofu and crab rangoon and both came with sweet and sour sauces along with a set of sushi rolls of Hyde Park Roll (tuna, salmon, avocado, and cream cheese? And they were fried if I'm not mistaken). Oh, I also wanted something sweet so I got the signature Thai Iced Tea which was so good and not too sweet to my palate. For the food, every dish we ordered was okay – personal note was the crab Rangoon's filling was not as flavorful as expected but the sauce saved it so I hope the cream cheese or other ingredients of the filling could be more flavored and enhanced in some ways? Just a thought.
The service was good although I could see the waiter was really wondering when we would leave as we stayed for almost an hour just by ordering two appetizers, one roll, and a glass of Thai iced tea, however, we did not mean that way as we really needed a place to settle down before the event. I used the toilet to clean up and changed my clothes, the toilet was super clean, smelled good, and was very proper in my opinion. The vibe of the place was very authentic Thai and as time went by, a lot of people were coming in for dinner. I would say the neighborhood area was pretty nice as we saw a lot of people doing evening runs or walking in proper exercise outfits which seemed nice! They also have a few parking spots in front of the restaurant, maybe 4-5 cars will fit?
After checking out, there was a bowl of lollipops and we took one for each other, I got the grape and my bf took the rootbeer one which he really loved, and talked about it for the night. Recommended if you are around in the neighborhood and want to try Thai dishes with some fusion sushi rolls!
I was disappointed by a recent dinner at Green Papaya which I hadn't been to in a while. We were a group of 4. Service was lacking, it took a while to be checked on or even given share plates. The curry was obviously made with frozen mixed vegetables (ie perfectly cubed carrots, corn, peas, green beans that had definitely been from a frozen bag) - which was very surprising. They apparently also "forgot" to put in some of the other ingredients. The curry to veg ratio was also way off with too little liquid curry. It didn't have much flavor overall and I will not be going back unfortunately. I love Thai food and spent some time in Thailand. I know this is Americanized Thai but even so, it missed the mark!
Great food and service. Some of the best Pad Thai I have ever had. The sauce was delicious and had just the right level of heat. Good selection of beer and wine.
A nice little thai restaurant with a good amount of options to try. Almost everything on the menu could be vegetarian. I had the lemonade which was refreshing. I ordered mango curry which came in a pineapple husk. It was a very pretty picture. My friend ordered red curry. We both liked our food. The prices are very reasonable for the quantity. The service is excellent. Our waitress was attentive but not disturbing at the same time. Kudos to her. I will definitely come back to try the other items on the menu.
The service was excellent, love the atmosphere, the only negative was the chicken in the pad Thai, a little tough. Will go back.
Love this place
Green papaya roll is the best sushi in town. Great energy and staff too.
Food was great! They have this dish called Khao Soi which I’ve been dying to try again after my trip to Thailand! Parking can be a tricky situation since the lot is very small and cramped. I would love to come back and try some of the other dishes they have!

my fave sushi spot in cincy!!
Great restaurant
I love the food and the service. It's a great place for regular and special occasions.
Decent place

A favorite!
I am obsessed with their pineapple fried rice! Their food is delicious and priced well!
Love this place! The staff are so kind and friendly, the atmosphere is wonderful with lots of plants and comfortable lighting, and the food is fresh and delicious - with multiple gluten-free options! Highly recommend the fresh roll as a GF appetizer.
Great food. You haven't lived a day in your life if you haven't tried the coconut soup! I wish I had some right now.
Ok food. Could have been better in presentation and taste
Best Thai food in cincy
This is an outstanding restaurant always so fresh and delicious
best thai in cincy
Delicious food and reasonably priced. Family enjoyed their meals.
Nice local place with fresh food and very nice employees . The sushi portions are extremely small tho. Surprisingly small, actually
Love their sushi and ladna noodle soup with fried tofu.
Original Thai food. So delicious 😋
Great food. One of the best Thai restaurants I have ever been. Highly recommended
Very nice employees, great atmosphere, and hands-down my favorite crispy pad Thai in the city. Spice levels range from 1-3 and 3 is the perfect amount of heat for spicy food lovers! Give them a chance, you won’t regret it!
One of the best pad Thai dishes I’ve ever had. Always fresh and hot even when I get delivered through DoorDash. Everything I’ve tried from here is top tier.
Love the pad Thai
Probably my favorite small business restaurant in Cincinnati! It is always very cozy inside and the service is great, I've never waited more than 20 minutes for my food. Every time I come home, I look forward to coming to Green Papaya and ordering the Green Papaya Garden, my favorite dish!<3
First time I was there and watching was delicious. Can’t wait to go back.
Dined in during my visit home. A favorite spot for me and my mom. We ordered both duck entrees along with two sushi rolls. We requested that both duck dishes be made spicy; the tamarind duck was spicier although both had the perfect amount of (actual!) heat. Both were perfectly crispy but in different ways- the basil duck was battered and flaky while the tamarind duck was not battered and had just crispy skin. Both very tender.
The sushi was an appetizer and pretty standard fare from a Thai place that also serves sushi. Pretty good but not necessarily memorable.
Service was good as always. Be prepared to park on the street if you go during dinner rush since their lot is small.
Look nowhere else when searching for great Thai! Carried out an order of chicken pad Thai, beef pad Thai and pad see you. Great flavor, friendly staff. My favorite Thai in Cincy!
Superb Asian food. Hungry and in a hurry? Get a sushi takeout order for a most memorable - and filling - meal.
Green papaya roll is the best sushi roll in Cincinnati!
Very good sushi
This is my new favorite spot for Thai food.
Green Papaya never disappoints! This has to be one of my favorite places in Cincinnati. Nothing better than a nice, comforting curry from this place.
The Thai food here is bland and not spicy. I got level 6, and it was mild. On top of that, the food had very little flavor. I don't know about the sushi, but please avoid this restaurant if you come for the Thai.
Both times I’ve been here the food has been really bland. I ordered the Ladna noodles with chicken and had maybe two noodles in my whole dish and it was just so watery, unseasoned and bland. I had the crispy pad thai last time and that was a little better.
I eat Green Papaya at least once a week - I’m borderline obsessed. I’ve never ordered a dish I didn’t love. Favorite Thai food in town!
I can’t comment on the actual taste of the food. My husband and I walked in one afternoon. The hostess was on the phone and ignored us so we were checking out the menu. A woman walked in holding a to go container full of food which had a cockroach. It appeared that the restaurant made her come back to show proof. The waitress took the container back to the kitchen and we walked out. I implore the owners to fix the pest issue.
This is our first meal here because we are new to the city and neighborhood! We ordered our favorite chicken satte and green curry! It was good and we plan to return. The restaurant has ample space and tables; it’s quiet inspire of many customers.! The prices are reasonable. We highly recommend this place
Green Papaya Roll remains supreme
The chicken fried rice had some unusual ingredients in it, e.g. tomatoes and miniature corn cobs. Overall, it had a bitter taste and the server had an unpleasant attitude. I've ordered this dish from here several times but this time, I got severe heartburn and painful stomach cramps all night. I won't be returning!
This is our favorite place for takeout sushi! We've always had excellent food but the most recent time I went I had my 1yr old twins with me and had to park down the street a little bit as they were busy. The kind worker insisted on carrying my food all the way to my car because I was holding my babies, and then even helped me load their car seats back into the car. It was so kind and appreciated and the food was 10/10 as always.
Broad varied selection of Thai dishes and an excellent sushi bar. Service has always been excellent.
The food is just AMAZING.....would go here everyday. Never had such tasty thai food...😋😋😋
Delicious food and friendly staff.
I ordered a dinner portion which was very skimpy. Also, I was given a spice level option 1-3. I went with a 2 which wasn't spicy at all and my food lacked flavor. The food is normally delicious there.
My hope is that the food is more consistent with texture and taste. I didn't bother calling to complain or to request a refund. I was tired from work. Sometimes you just want things done correctly the first time. Disappointing!
Casual Thai restaurant with good food. Apart from Thai cuisine they also serve sushi. Reasonably clean interior. Service was OK. We liked Crazy Noodles and Beef with Basil Sauce (spice level 2).
We always do carry out. Sometimes they screw up our orders, more than once. I recommend checking all of your food before you leave.
With that being said the food is delicious!!!
Wish they would hire more staff. Service is declining
The restaurant wasn't busy but service was delayed. The waiters didn't come over to see if we wanted to order. We had to call them. Looks like the basketball game was very important. After I was out of the restaurant, a lady approached me asking why me and me friend didn't leave tips. This was totally unprofessional. We told her why. But we were very disappointed.
The duck was so good, the sushi rolls were a great appetizer, 10/10 will be back.
Great food, parking lot is small. Crispy pad thai was excellent
Nice little place parking right out front easy to get in and out of excellent food excellent service
The food 😋 is so good 👍 will be going back one of my favorite places to eat and the food is cooked 🍳 fresh
Amazing. Absolute favorite place in Cincinnati. The staff is beyond awesome as well.
Very good food, nice staff in a small setting.
Really bad food.
Sushis were full of nasty fat sauce. It was disgusting.
The pad thai was a shame. I don't understand how can this place have so much good reviews. It had no sauce, no taste and cheap noodles. It was ready in 5min and we know why now.
Only the service was ok but the guy barely speak English.
Unfortunately not at all what we expected. Went for a late dinner order sushi and pad thai. The sushi had too much pink sauce too overpowering the fish taste, but the worse was the pad thai. Soggy noodles with what seemed hot sauce. Judge yourself by the picture.
It's really good ;)
Green papaya is my gold standard for sushi! I also love their vegetable tempura, pad thai, and massaman curry, but you really can’t go wrong with any menu choice.
The food is always great. My favorite is the pineapple fried rice. The staff is very friendly. Parking is a little awkward, so I use the side road.
Garlic pepper dish was amazing. Sushi was high quality. One of my favorite sushi places on cincy.
Really great food and atmosphere
Food was great. I got pad Thai with spicy 3 out of 3. It had great flavor but did not overwhelm. Highly recommend.
Wonderful food and staff
Never disappoints. Food is always delicious customer service is friendly. Portions are great
First time at the Hyde Park location - Excellent!!
Dont ever order Crispy Pad Thai at this place! Not good!
It's a treat to go there when we're in Cincinnati
Excellent food at a great price. I cleaned my plate of Pad Thai. Lots of vegetarian options
Really not sure how the rating is so high. My shrimp had zero seasoning, and the rice was just a little more flavorful than steamed white rice.
Exceptional food and service.
The food was greasy and tasteless I’m not sure how this hat 4.4 starts.
Always good. Always friendly.
Weird… but the food just wasn’t very good. We got chicken pad Thai and it tasted like spaghetti… they only offered us spice levels of 1, 2, and 3, and I felt like the 1 had no flavor at all, 2 had a little bit, but I would normally get a 4-5 out of 10, but I was afraid that the 2 would be too much.
Really tasty pork pad thai. Reasonable price. Service was good.
Sushi roll (wish I could remember what its called) with tempura shrimp was very good.
Food was very good. Menu has a lot of items with a lot of options. Prices are very reasonable considering the portion sizes.
Great food! Would eat here again.
This is my go to spot for Sushi! The Green Papaya Roll and the Sata Roll are my favorite. It is usually a quiet place and the Thai food is amazing.
Little pricey but worth it for special occasions
Service was great food was awesome!!! Great time with friends!!!
I tried the cashew nut chicken for lunch at 1.5 heat and definitely could have tolerated more heat. It was very tasty, though and I would certainly return to try another dish.
Have eaten at better Thailand rest.this one don't come close.order siu Mai came from a frozen bag heated on microwave, order fry beef phatay noodles where not cook hardly any beef won't come back
Delish!
Som Tum is soooo good!!!!!
Great food & service.
So good
I will coming back soon.
Probably my favorite Thai restaurant in Cincinnati. Always consistent.
Great sushi and Thai
If you order take out be ready for an attitude if you need utensils and napkins !
Best Thai food. +1
One of the very few restaurants we go to repeatedly.
A comida é boa, mas se precisar de recibo, não vá.
Get the Green Papaya Roll. You'll be thankful you read this review
Chicken pad tahi amazing great sushi
Delicious food. My wife comes here for the sushi but I come for the Pad Thai. Overall the food is delicious and I would highly recommend.
Fabulous sushi. Our go to sushi place. Try the green papaya roll and the Sata roll. Love their Thai iced tea too !
This place is our favorite date night go to. They have excellent sushi and Thai dishes! Awesome local small business.
Not very good. Tom Kha soup was so sweet it tasted like drinking simple syrup. Both rice dishes we ordered were very bland and rice was very overcooked. Maybe noodle dishes are better, but based on this meal, we will never know.
Food was fabulous! Always enjoy eating there!
Its a friendly environment, good people, great service.
Had lunch at Green Papaya. Place was empty. Now I understand why. Food was nothing special. Place is dirty inside. Service was good. Wont be back
was there in 2008 went back in 2021. just what I remembered.. great place to have good food.
We are regulars and come every few weeks. The restaurant has nice ambiance, but is a bit worn down. Staff is attentive, but there is a language barrier. The food is fresh, delicious and healthy. The glass of wine I ordered tasted as though the bottle it came from had been open for a while, and the second glass tasted much better. Casual place where you don't feel rushed to eat and leave. Easy to have a conversation, but other tables are very close and their own loud conversations/kids can take away from your own experience. We had enough of our entrees for leftovers but also had an appetizer. Not that cheap - dinner for two with drinks was $80 with tip.
Good food if a bit pricey. A good authentic Thia restaurant that is a treat every once and a while.
Excellent place to eat, great people work there.
Great spot for good, quick Asian food. Really good flavors, food comes out quick!
There were a lot of options for food and I didn't feel like it was over-priced. The food was delicious. The service was decent.
