Casual spot in a strip mall since 1990 with a sushi bar & typical Thai plates to eat in or take out.
The restaurant was
clean. They served fresh, quickly-prepared food, and the service was attentive; they kept my water glass full without needing to be asked. We opted for lunch and found the portion size to be satisfying. We're already planning to return and explore more of their menu. The atmosphere had a touch of elegance, quite distinct from the neighboring CiCi's Pizza.
I’ve been eating at Ban Thai since 1990 when there wasn’t much in the way of ethnic foods in ole Clermont County. It’s been amazing since the beginning. I always order red curry w tofu - it tastes exactly the same as it did 35 years ago. Highly recommend!
I always get the Pad See Ewe here but ordered a few extra dishes when I had family over so they could try. I love thai food. However, we got Thai Fried Rice as well as Pad Thai in addition to my customary Pad See Ewe. The Pad See Ewe was incredible as always but the Pad Thai and Thai Fried Rice were rather flavorless. I highly recommend skipping both of those dishes if you stop by and recommend the Pad See Ewe and the Mango Sticky Rice.
My friend and I love stopping in for lunch! We enjoy the food so much we order a few different things and end up sharing! Everything we have ordered has been delicious! I would most definitely recommend the spring rolls, they're my favorite!! They have gluten free, dairy free and peanut free options for those with allergies..
I can't believe I've never been here until now and I've lived in Eastgate for 5 years! The food was absolutely delicious! I stopped in for lunch and had a shrimp tempura roll/3 piece California roll bento box and chose the lo mein. Everything was so tasty and fresh. I also thought the portion size was perfect and a great value for what was paid. I ate everything and left the restaurant full and happy. The service was amazing too. I got seated quickly and the lady took my order right away after I briefly glanced at the menu. My food was out probably within 5 minutes. I will definitely be back again!
Food was amazing, again!

Excellent food and service.
I got the duck crispy pad Thai, it was perfect
Fantastic chicken Pad Thai!!!! Will definitely be back!!!
I love the chicken pad Thai... So much
Food tasted good but quite pricey. My partner was brought the completely wrong dish, but they did remake his food. Nice place
Great Thai food and sushi!
Great local family owned restaurant
Had a birthday dinner here and it was fantastic! Be careful of heat levels if you are sensitive but if you like great flavor and to burn this is your place.
Best Thai food I've had so far anywhere.
Incredible menu and well priced. If you’re looking for Thai food on the east side of Cincinnati, Ban Thai is the place to go.
I love this place. The food is great, and it's really nice to have a different food option around!
Brilliant renditions of Thai favorites and more. Large portions and reasonably priced. Excellent vegetables cooked just right.
Food was overly sweet. the menu does not list what is in the item and they add extras into the items.
Best thai food I've had. Spicy but not overpowering other flavors. Definitely coming back again soon.
Delicious and authentic Thai restaurant. The owners are very gracious and always willing to share even what is being cooked for their staff! Hands down a local favorite for years.
Summer rolls, pad thai, shumai, jade noodles, sushi. All delicious!
Please have your staff exercise food safety protocols. Your food has led to gastrointestinal infection.
First time here but definitely not the last time. Everything was incredible. Ban Thai Noodles 10/10, crab Rangoon 10/10, spider roll 10/10. Great atmosphere, service, and most importantly...food!
First time here, the dinner bento box was everything I wanted it to be! My server Lisa was very informative and sweet. I will definitely be back and bringing friends!!
I recently visited Ban Thai for lunch on a recommendation from my friend Edward, who is acquainted with the sushi chef. Although the chef wasn’t in that day, our meal was still fantastic. The staff at Ban Thai were very friendly and welcoming, which made the dining experience even more enjoyable. The food was delicious, and I was particularly impressed with the quality of both the drinks and the dishes—it’s rare to find such a combination close to work. I will definitely be returning to Ban Thai and would recommend it to anyone looking for great food and drinks in the area.
Good portions, reasonable prices, and friendly staff! Very nice!
My family’s favorite Thai restaurant for 20+ years!! Great service both dining in and taking out. Delicious food. Highly recommend.
I suggested this spot for lunch with my girlfriends....such a disappointment, No sushi. No customer service at all!. When you walk in take a look at the fish tank. That should tell you all.
This place is great! Even better when the sushi chef is there.....which is not often, unfortunately
Absolutely amazing Thai food. I would say it is the best in Cincinnati but most definitely on the East side. I'll be back for certain.
I go out to eat every couple months with my friend. It was his turn to choose and here's where we went. I had the Rad Nar and it was spectacular. My friend had Pad Thai and he loved that as well. The spice level of my dish was perfect. I like how you can choose that combination of flavor mixed in with some heat. They certainly got that exactly correct. I recommend this place for some good food.
The food is very fresh and super flavorful. This place is worth a drive!
Great food and kind staff. Will be back.
Fantastic food, service and atmosphere.
Ban Thai Restaurant offers a delightful dining experience with its inviting ambience, complemented by a staff that exudes warmth and professionalism. The cordial service adds a personal touch to the overall atmosphere. However, the true highlight is the exceptional food – each dish is a burst of flavor and a testament to the culinary mastery of the kitchen. A visit to Ban Thai guarantees not just a meal but a memorable gastronomic journey in a welcoming setting.
I get the Chicken Pad Thai, no spice. It is good every time!
Best green curry in Cincinnati, hands down. Also, try the crispy pad thai.
lunch service is woefully empty, a hidden gem with no wait!
5 stars everything! I had the iced coffee, summer rolls as appetizer and a dinner bento box which included pad Thai, sushi, soup of choice, salad, a fried wonton, egg roll and fruit! All for only $33 the two ladies that took care of me were extremely kind and even helped me pack my food. It was honestly the best pad Thai I’ve ever had and the food came out quick. Safe to assume I’ll be back and I’ll bring my family with me next time!
Love their food!
Always amazing

Great sushi and wonderful Thai food. Large selection on the menu, the pineapple rice and the crab rice are so good! I go here very often.
Every time I go there the staff is super friendly, and they are always very considerate. The food is also very good and for a good price at that.
Top notch! Service, food, atmosphere everything was excellent. If I'm ever in Batavia, I'm stopping by again
Their curry is great, and the spice levels are accurate!
Delicious food that always tastes so fresh. Beef Macadamia is incredible. This is the BEST restaurant in the Eastgate area.
This is our go too for fried rice, pad thai and beef teriyaki.
Eating at Ban Thai is a very pleasant experience. The service is very attentive. The food is excellent. The atmosphere is wonderful. We had the chicken satay the crispy pad Thai and the Rasha trio. They were all great. The chicken satay was very tender. The Rasha trio had at delightful sauce. This will now be one of our favorite go to places. The price was about $27 each.
My husband and I LOVE Ban Thai. We have been several times in the past few months, the food is AMAZING and the service is OUTSTANDING!
Yummy food! Can’t wait to visit my family in Cincinnati again so I can come back!
Food was good and pricey interior needs updated
Place is amazing, great food, great atmosphere, and friendly staff!!?
Great food selections with a very enjoyable, calm atmosphere.
Testy Thai food. Will be perfect for Thai if less sugar.
I eat here almost weekly!!! this is the best thai food i’ve ever eaten. the service is always so kind too!! I am obsessed with their pad see ew, summer rolls, & their hot n sour soup is the best i’ve ever had. highly recommend to satisfy your thai cravings!!!
This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Eastgate area. The decor often changes but the food stays delicious! I've tried several different things from here and never been disappointed.
Our group of 14 ate yesterday at lunch. Most had not eaten at a Thai Restaurant before. We ordered a variety of foods and all were pleased. The service was outstanding!
It was good .The food so delicious with a good price .Our order came quick and the staff so friendly and very attentive .Run quick and check the place and I'm sure you gonna love it !
The Massaman with tofu was perfect! Every bite a treat. Also, incredible drunken noodles! Couldn't recommend more.
Saw this while driving down the main drag and decided to check it out. Good selection of dishes alongside the staples. Ambiance is nice enough given that it’s in a strip mall. Staff was attentive and food was good with the right amount of spice.
This has become my favorite Thai restaurant in the East Gate area. You won't go wrong here.
This place hit it out of the park for the Thai experience we were looking for. Very knowledgeable about the ingredients in all the dishes, clearly marked and explained what was vegan. Delicious food.
Food is good, Grandma not really happy server. Cousin don't really like his food. Everyone else's food was good
I can't believe I've never been here until now and I've lived in Eastgate for 5 years! The food was absolutely delicious! Had the bento box for lunch. Food was very good and reasonably priced (in today's world). Service was good.
a super great place! they had some issues with their technology when we went so we waited a little long but they took a drink and our appetizer off of our bill and also gave me an extra sushi roll! everyone was lovely and we didn't mind waiting at all. the food was amazing and so flavorful, we will definitely be back! i forgot to take pics so i just have a pic of my leftover box haha
This restaurant was clean and had a pleasant environment. I was seated quickly, and waited on promptly. The servers were friendly and attentive, but not to excess. The food was very good, among the best of similar restaurants I have dined at recently. I plan to eat there again the next time I am in the area.
Udon noodles were delicious!
Best sushi in town!!
Disappointed in the pad thai take out. Rice noodles were tiny bits and pieces. Could use more peanuts.
We dined in before, same food and much better.
Cashew shrimp was excellent.
Visited many times. I have always been satisfied with the food and service . Good value .
My daughter and I love going here. Staff is always friendly and the food is very good. The ginger chicken is amazing
I had beef pad Thai and the wife had chicken pad Thai and we had summer rolls the food was delicious and the waitress was very nice and the decor is very relaxing. Very nice
DONT eat here if you love traditional curry.
I absolutely hate writing a poor review but we couldn't even finish our food.
While it was edible, this is nothing like the Thai food we are apparently used too on the west coast. We actually couldn't finish our food. Its very non traditional in what veggies are added. I had a half tomato in my yellow curry which was weird let along with the broccoli, green beans and peas. Like WHAT?! It was also pretty bland, we never could have guessed thai could be bland. Then the chicken in the curry had a very weird almost rubber like texture and was very gamey. The curry sauce itself also was weird. Not like the yummy coconut fat rich curry, more like it was thickened with corn startch or something of the nature.
The chicken satay however, while also not what we are used too was all we were able to eat.
All I can say is uncle Roger needs to come save the thai food situation here in Ohio.
Outstanding Thai food. Not much more than that, it is just a solid kitchen with a good variety on the menu.
I always get the chicken satay with the papaya salad. Love it!
I love this place, the food is always so good! Yum!
I've been eating at this place for over 30 years and absolutely love their food.
The food was delicious and plentiful.
Ban Thai is the best!!! Everyone who works there is so nice and accommodating and their food is AMAZING. The portions are great and I love all the gluten free and vegan options. Highly recommend!!
Food was yummy but a little pricey. Service was good. Atmosphere was pretty good.
Excellent food and service. Best Curry ever!
This Thai restaurant appears to be a family-owned business, according to the sushi chef, who's from Bangkok. The decor is nice, with large wooden panels stained 3 different colors (light, dark, and greenish), and sewn Thai decorations as well as what appear to be hand-molded metal plates. The overall appearance is upscale. We got there too late for lunch, which is less expensive, and meals start at about $15, while appetizers usually start around $6. I asked the lady if they could use MSG instead of salt to reduce the sodium, but they didn't have any, so she recommended the vegetable rainbow, saying it had less salt than the curries. I couldn't tell - it was both garlicy and too salty. My son ordered Shumai, which we often enjoyed in Indonesia with spiced peanut sauce. The shumai was very bland and on a bed of mixed raw veggies, so it was a good thing it came with strongly flavored soy sauce. He also ordered Pad Thai with shrimp, a noodle dish, which didn't have the authentic flavor and, frankly, was kinda disappointing in it's compromise on both authenticity and an enjoyable flavor. My daughter had Duck Char Chew, which is in a curry that has a floral taste to it - something I found odd, but not exactly unpleasant. She seemed to like it well enough. Our two meals came with small bowls of rice (barely enough, IMO).
One oddity was the men's bathroom, which was apparently designed with the idea of serving two men at once by having a urinal next to the sink, with a metal wall mounted between it and the toilet - which was only "privatized" by that partial metal wall. It was odd, and I think that most men would feel uncomfortable if another man came in, and didn't really fit the upscale image.
All in all, I don't intend to visit it again.
Best Thai food in town! So many dishes have fresh, delicious vegetables. They have very generous portions and the seafood is beautiful.
Understanding the server was difficult. I have severe shellfish allergies and when I told her she said oysters? Those are shellfish!
I was pretty afraid to eat. Thank God my friend understood a little more but having a sensitivity that could kill me with the communication issue was quite unnerving. I almost didn't order.
Please have your person who can speak good english and understand special needs well only take those orders.
PS-I won't be back. It's way too expensive for me.
Great service and very tasty food. All dishes came out hot straight from the pan.
We are regulars! Tom and the staff are amazing! Best sushi and Pad Thai in all of Cincinnati!
ボリュームがとてもありますね。
Pros: Very flavorful. The spice had heat but was not an overkill. Hot enough to make your nose run a little but mild enough that you want more of it.
Cons: Personal preference, but the dip sauce that came with the summer rolls was hoisin sauce, not peanut sauce. When I asked for peanut sauce, it had coconut milk, so it was nutty but rather sweet.
Overall: A great place to dine. Again, personally, I won’t get the summer roll only because of the sweet peanut sauce. Next time I’m in the area, this would be a place to come back and try other dishes.
My friend and I love stopping in for lunch! We enjoy the food so much we order a few different things and end up sharing! Everything we have ordered has been delicious! I would most definitely recommend the spring rolls, they're my favorite!! They have gluten free, dairy free and peanut free options for those with allergies..
Good Thai and Sushi
Great food. Quick, friendly service.
Excellent and plentiful food!
Excellent ... First timer ... Now a favorite ...
Great decor, really delicious food with healthy size portions and an exceptionally large menu
Easily missed from the road and that would be a shame. Basic decorum but good tasting food
Spice was right, service and food was good. Ordered their Hot Basil Fried Rice (level 2) is just right. Good portions, and try the Ban Thai Lemonade, sorry kids this one is for the bigger kids lol
First time having a bento box. It was alot of food. Everyone enjoyed their lunches. Food was good
Great service.
Great food. Great service. One of my favorite restaurants.
Sushi was okay. Got spicy rolls but not much spicy mayo on them.
Great, fresh food!
Best Thai food around Anderson/eastgate
Awesome
The interior is beautiful and situated in a way that the staff can see everything but your not crowded in. The staff was amazing and the food delicious, hot and fresh. They definitely deserved a biggy than normal tip. Best Crab Rangoon we've ever had.
Very first time coming here and I will for sure be going back. The staff were amazing, almost seemed excited that it was my first experience with Thai food, and helped me pick the perfect dish for me. Like I said, I will be going back!
Very delicious food and phenomenal service! This has become a date night spot for my husband and I and it never disappoints.
Good food at a great price. With a nice atmosphere.
I've had 3 menu items from here over the course of two years.
Drunken noodles: these are consistently the same flavor, and is my go to at Ban Thai. The noodles are well cooked, never overdone, and seasoned in that sweet spot of not overpowering, and not bland. When ordering chicken, they don't shy away from the amount they give. Ordering shrimp - which costs extra - never satisfied on any dish because they give very little.
The Pad Thai has been a disappointment, unfortunately. Underseasoned and overcooked, it does not carry the effect you would expect in Pad Thai. There might be some lime and tamarind in there, but not enough to give that punch of flavor. The sweetness and saltines don't balance either, so I typically steer away from that here.
The green curry shrimp was decently priced. Thai curries vary from restaurant to restaurant and how they pad their curry with vegetables. Some do green beans and asparagus, others do eggplant and tomatoes, and others. This place did well with keeping vegetables that pair well with the sauce. Bamboo shoots, carrots, red pepper, and - a first for me, but still surprisingly good - broccoli.
The curry is a little thin, not as flavorful as you expect green curry to be, but the vegetables are cooked perfectly, with enough texture for you to recognize what you're eating instead of biting down on something mushy. The shrimp is not the star of the show, as they didn't put too much in there, but it did compliment the meal.
Portion size is adequate, I was able to finish the meal and be satisfied for a lunch order. Not the best curry I've ever had, but there is little competition nearby and it's worth going if you're craving Thai food.
Really delicious and high quality .
Our waitresses was very helpful in picking something new
Definitely the best sushi I've had in a while! So very fresh and tasty!
Fantastic sushi
We got take out for a birthday dinner. We had little ones, so it wasn't in the cards to dine in that night. The portions are good sized. I ordered my go-to, chicken pad Thai, #7 heat. It is two meals for me. I also got an order of Thai rolls (3 rolls with sweet & sour sauce). Those were shared and well liked. My soon and his wife each got the yellow curry and liked it. It's their usual go-to for Thai. My wife tried the Ban Thai steak and loved it. She gave that 10 stars - sooo good! Her new fav! Ban Thai is one of the best Thai restaurants in Cincinnati, a close second to Lemon Grass on Madison Rd in the Rookwood area.
My local favorite
One of my favorite restaurants hands down! The hot and sour shrimp soup is the best on a cold day! And everything on the menu is just as good as the one before! Never had bad food or a bad experience. If you've never been don't walk, run!
Friendly service and delicious food
Very nice servers, good food, the sushi was kind of expensive for what you end up getting.
Excellent food and the best sushi around!
I was in town for business from Columbus and saw this place on Google maps. Having lived in Thailand myself, I love stopping in to Thai restaurants to see how authentic they are. This place is great!!! Highly recommend giving it a try! I will definitely be returning whenever I'm back this way.
One of the best Thai food places
Very poor customer service. I used to LOVE this place. Food quality has also gone down and very rude and deceitful management. I ordered a vegan tofu pad Thai that came with egg and simply wanted a remake, nice lady said it would be ready in 15 mins. manager then called and refused and hung up! Never will I ever support this business again!
Great food and great people!
Great food and service highly recommend
Food was not good. Tea was burnt
Excellent Thai restaurant. Authentic dishes. Excellent, friendly service. The curry dishes are great.
Always like this establishment
Great food service and atmosphere will be back as no matter what we get here is always food for the $$
Very good Thai food, well prepared. The menu is like a book though so if you don't know what you want it can be confusing so breath of you know what you want. Real good though, and authentic. Love that spice!
Great food and cordial service
I've been putting off going here for years. Finally went this afternoon. Wish I'd gone way way earlier. REALLY good food. Reasonable priced. Let me reiterate, GOOD FOOD. REALLY GOOD. Delicious sea food.
Chicken Pad Thai had a strong fish taste to it. The first time we ate here it was good so +1 for potential but the cross contamination is definitely an issue.
Do not go here, overpriced bad quality food. Portions are tiny and you do not get what you pay for. Not to mention I GOT FOOD POISONING FROM THIS RESTAURANT
