Intimate Thai establishment serving up a wide variety of familiar meals in an easygoing atmosphere.
Sweet Mango Fine Thai Cuisine has been a long-standing staple in Berea, and I’ve always appreciated its charming, quaint atmosphere and consistently friendly servers. It had been a few years since my last visit, but I remembered my past experiences being positive. Unfortunately, this recent visit was a major letdown.
I ordered the Pad Thai with chicken, which was priced at $15. In the past, I recall meals being served with a side of soup or a small salad, but that is no longer the case. The dish itself was disappointing from start to finish. The Pad Thai lacked spice and flavor, tasting more like reheated leftovers than freshly prepared food. The chicken, in particular, was subpar—it didn’t taste fresh and gave the impression of being reheated. For the price, I expected something far more appetizing and reflective of the vibrant, bold flavors Thai cuisine is known for.
I’m always reluctant to give a restaurant a negative review, as I understand how challenging it is to operate in today’s environment. However, this negative review is, unfortunately, earned. While the service and atmosphere remain pleasant, the quality of the food fell short in every way. Sadly, it was an underwhelming and unsatisfying meal, and I’m not sure I’ll return anytime soon.
I was really excited to eat here but… the chicken was completely inedible (it was hard and chewy like rubber) and there was a strange squishy lump in my rice. I’m not sure if the lump was seasoning but it was squishy/sticky like animal fat. I mentioned the chicken problem to the server and was not given a refund/partial refund or any sincere apology/explanation. I paid nearly $20 for this minuscule plate of food and could not even finish it. Some of the plates were chipped and the serving sizes were not consistent for each person. As someone who has been to Thailand and has immense respect for the food/culture I am thoroughly disappointed (not to sound pretentious).
Update: I have had a stomach sickness for the last two days after eating this. I don’t even want to imagine what they did to the food
We went there around 6pm on Friday and smoothly got a small table. Overall, their prices were reasonable including a glass of wine and beer except for the appetizer, Mango Rolls. It was tiny with a tiny piece of mango and our biggest complaint was that they used old lettuce. It must be hard to see in the photo but the color has changed to reddish on the edge and some brownish. Main dishes were fine but a waiter spilled mine near our table. The dessert, fried banana wrap, was also tiny and had much more crust than banana. I wish I could give them 3.5 stars.
I ordered the pineapple chicken fried rice, mango rolls and eggs rolls and was in paradise with each bite! Outstanding food! The gentlemen that greeted us and served us were absolute sweethearts! Unfortunately I live 2 hours away or I would come more often. HIGHLY recommend this establishment!
We were visiting Ohio for the first time and was recommended this place by a friend. We went for dinner on a Monday night. The service was great and the food was very good. We had mango bubble tea which was not too sweet, had right amount of boba and taste great. All the food was and overall experience was good.
Would recommend this plane and will definitely come here again.
Love love love this place, going tonight, basil fried rice

Great service and food
I see why they are rated so high, very good, and I'm not an Asian food lover. My wife took me there. Will definitely go back!
Great service and great food. The service was incredible and the staff was very kind. I will definitely make this a regular stop.

I saw another review about the chicken being miniscule and tough/inedible. I ordered the orange chicken and had a similar experience. The dish is priced at $21 (with fried rice) for some tiny, flat, rubbery pieces of chicken surrounded by huge chunks of batter. We're talking 10% over-cooked chicken, 90% over-fried batter.
I've had the orange and mango chicken here before but it's been a few years and obviously shrinkflation has kicked in. Perhaps I just got unlucky, but every piece was like that.
The servers were friendly. I was hoping one would stop by and ask how the food was so I could give my feedback and perhaps get some new chicken but they seemed very busy. They do have a "Now Hiring" sign out as is the case with many restaurants nowadays.
I went up to the register to pay as we'd been waiting a while. I said something about the chicken and she said she'd relay to the manager. 🤷♂️
A nice little restaurant with some amazing fried rice! I highly recommend the prik pow chicken and their Thai iced teas. The staff was very kind and accommodating.
Great food & Thai Tea. Server was very nice.
Portions too small for prices — about half what we used to get to dine in and cost almost twice as much now. $37 for two pad Thais in small containers and a drink (they charged extra for the slice of lime I asked for) and shrimp way overcooked
The speed of service is unbelievably slow. I arrived here around 7:40 PM and ordered two dishes, but it was close to 8:30 PM when I received the first dish. I finished that dish, but the second one still hasn't arrived. Plus, if you can’t remember what we order, please use a pencil to note. I didn’t get my second dish finally.
Enjoyed the Panang curry. Friendly staff. Looking forward to returning next time I’m in town.
Had a chicken, shrimp fried rice asked for spicy but it is not that spicy. Good quantity.
Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. The curry was fresh and delicous!
Absolutely phenomenal food and service. From the bubble teas to the entrees, me and the 3 others I was with loved everything we ate. The staff is also very friendly. Definitely coming back!
SO disappointed with the box lunch I ordered to go.
1) Why is a soup included for dine-in but not if you order to-go? This should be clarified on the menu.
2) WHY is the SALAD in the same container as my hot entree? I understand it's a "box lunch" concept but the potstickers were on top of half the lettuce and I could not even consume half my salad because the lettuce was wet and gross.
3) Definitely not enough sauce on the chicken
I guess now I know to NOT order the box lunches to-go. And probably go to the Strongsville location instead
I'm not certain how they do it but when you order anything off the menu, you end up with the idealized version of that item that your brain fantasizes about. No matter how much me and my wife look forward to going here we are always still pleasantly surprised.
I was just randomly in the area and googled Thai food near me, and it brought me to this phenomenal place! Small place but incredible flavor 🤤 super fresh and delicious. The prices were not bad at all very reasonable. Sadly, i wish i lived closer to be able to enjoy the food more often.
Used to love ordering food from here but ever since the change in ownership, the service and quality has gone down. Tried to give it another chance today and ordered takeout. Person on phone repeated my order back to me (which was correct) and once i picked up my order and got home, it was wrong. Hate to say it, but I probably won't be coming back.
The thai style basil was really good, mango curry was ok. The taro and green tea bubble tea were good. The customer service was excellent.

UPDATED: 2nd visit the service was better. Food great but the Mango rolls were very gummy. I would not recommend.
FEB 2023: The First time here and we very much enjoyed our food. The falling flat was in service. We walked into an empty restaurant. (pretty cold inside..heaters did not help). Ten mins later 3 more groups of 2 walked in. Staff took all of their orders first, as we waited. Server finally came to us.
Then all those ppl were served first (since they initially skipped us). In addition, the two ppl picking up to go orders received their food. THEN we finally got our food.
I will definitely give them a try again. But if the awkward way in which they waited on customers were to happen again, I will be done.
Always delicious and great portion sizes. They will also accommodate your preference in degree of spice.
A great little surprise as we made our way to Cleveland Airport. Portions and hefty and the taste of my eggplant and scallops were savory.
The first time I ate at this restaurant a few years ago, it was fine. But on our 2 most recent visits the curry dishes tastes watered down and the sauces are very thin, like water. Not sure what happened?
this place over charges for their very basic food. $1 for a lime wedge, $0.75 for sauce. they are greedy. Nam Wah is better!
Very good local Asian-American restaurant. I like the Thai basil chicken. We always get take out here on Christmas Eve when traveling, as they are open for dinner.
Always great food and service!
Lots of great choices for vegans and vegetarians too. Fun bubble tea flavors!
🧋
My husband and I love Thai food and have eaten at Sweet Mango in Medina as well.. always delicious and fresh! My husband always grimaces at the idea of tofu, but we couldn't get enough of the Orange tofu vegetarian entree with broccoli and carrots. Best tofu I've ever had! Service was great, will definitely be back.
Awesome Prik Pow fried rice and service is fantastic too!
What a great little gem. Great atmosphere. The food was delicious. I wanted something a little more spicy than I got, but I just know for next time to ask for more spice! People were genuinely wonderful. Highly recommend, and they have something anyone in your family will enjoy. Yes, even that boy that only eats chicken nuggets.
Excellent food, and the service was fantastic.
Shrimp Himaparn is so outstanding, I forgot to ask if there was any peppers, which i usually don't care for with shrimp, was ordering for the first time, turns out it had red, green peppers, mushrooms, celery, onion, carrots and one of the best sauces I have ever had, just a great blend of flavors every bite !!!!
Great experience. Definitely a place to go for a nice lunch.
Good food with a lovely atmosphere and great staff! An app and meal will cost around $25-30, but you get more than enough for leftovers!
Very uncomfortable food break - Food was old and warmed up with smell in it, Ordered Mango Fried Rice with Shrimps. Asked Server to have some hot sauce and she brought Chili Flakes. Thats not hot sauce i was looking. She wanted to sell me small sauce container for $1.00 extra. Mentioned that food is not good but she said sorry about it and walked away.
If anyone wants to feel difference in food taste try Sweet Mango in Strongsville. Bad experience - Will Not go back there
Food was ok if you‘ve never had authentic Thai food. The fried rice and phad Thai were about very bland and left much to be desired. Service was quick and staff was pleasant for a to go order.
Unfortunately the food quality has gone done in the last few years. Last to go order my mango with sticky rice order; the mangoes were all bruised and black ; this time I took Pad Thai home to my mother she raved about the deliciousness lass time but this time noodles were bland and shrimp were tough .. as a long time customer this is truly disappointing.
Delicious.
Great staff, fast service, delicious food
Great Thai! And REAL Fried Rice! Thank you for an enjoyable dinner!

Food was pretty good and service was great. Needed a bit more rice though for my bowl.
The food is always amazing!
Nice place but it's definitely not the best Thai food you'll ever eat
Nice food but service needs to be improved
Very blanded underwhelming.
My wife is Thai and enjoys trying different Thai restaurants to see how the food compares to her home back in Thailand. She wasn’t impressed with the Tom Yum soup or her entree, but she did like the mango and sticky rice. My food was ok, but not enough ginger in it. And either the place has an odd smell or it was coming from her soup. Possibly both. We won’t be back.
Wonderful interior, lots of gorgeous Thai and Buddhist art. Food was ordered and quickly served, hot and delicious. If you wanna try Thai food come here.
Decent enough. Good price. I ordered the Pad See'ew with Chicken. Found it a bit bland though. some more sauce n maybe some seasoning on the chicken would get it there. If you're carrying out make sure you stir to distribute the sauce more. Not good enough that I'd recommend to my friends but good enough that I might return if I'm in the area and in the mood for Thai.
2 stars I suppose because I didn’t have to cook dinner or clean up dishes, but otherwise this food was very underwhelming. The chicken and duck were overcooked to the point of tough and chewy. The pad Thai was one-note. You can go to lotus across Parma or banana in Ohio city and get waaay better food for about the same price.
Extremely nice and consistent staff. Fresh food and veg. The portion sizes have decreased over past ~2 years while the prices have increased over past ~2 years. The "Contact Us" form on their website doesn't work at current. Unfortunately, the quality of their dishes has decreased over the past ~2 years. Hoping for a return of the Sweet Mango Berea we came to love pre-pandemic.
Super delicious food! I had the yellow curry and it wasn't spicy in the least. They don't overstuff their servings and it was a perfect meal without waste.
First time ever going there. Was really happy with the food and bubble drinks
Nice little place with big meals.
Excellent food and service. Loved it.
Best lunch menu
Menu selections are a little more varied than many other Asian inspired restaurants, in a good way. Our meals were quite good and the service was excellent. Our food was delivered quickly, probably quicker than your typical fast food joint and much tastier.
Super friendly staff, wonderful service. Best orange chicken I’ve ever had. Country style pad thai is delicious. Tofu string beans delicious as well.
Excellent service and delicious food.
Let’s get one thing clear this is not fine dinning as a matter of fact, there’s nothing fine about this place.
Service was great!
The food looked questionable but some judge by the look because we were questioning it, but it was pretty okay for what it was. Have you ever seen grey pad Thai before? Me neither.. But I found myself in Ohio eating grey pad Thai and it wasn’t fully tasteless.
Three starts because fine dinning is deceitful.
Cool bye
Grilled teriyaki salmon so delicious
Waitresses were nice but omg the Pad Thai smells like dog food 🤢
Stopped in to get a food here for the first time, and OH MY GOODNESS, the food was absolutely excellent. Our server helped us in finding the dish we would like the most. They have a very large menu so there’s something to suit everybody’s tastes. A wonderful dining experience and would gladly recommend to anybody I know.
Really good food, the people are awesome - I'd give more stars if I could!
Good pad Thai and curry.
Excellent quick service in a small well kept dining room.. excellent service & courteous staff.
I had Tom yum soup & Thai style basil, both were top notch. I'll definitely be returning next time I'm in the neighborhood.
Very tasty and healthy options! Service was awesome.
My fave is the "Orange Chicken", the best I ever had.
Excellent! Great service Thursday for lunch! Orange chicken bento box was absolutely delicious! That little cup of wonton before the meal is a great plus. LOVE the cilantro in it!
I WILL be back !
Food was great and fresh. Smaller portions than expected. Bad service.
Good food, polite, friendly staff.
We went a few times. The staff was always very friendly, the smoothies are pretty good, and the food was always good.
I absolutely love the food here! I try to get something new every time! But beyond the food, the customer service is impeccable!! I left my purse
and they were kind enough to call me and remind me why I choose fanny packs over purses 🤣
Unfortunately going to leave a one star for multiple reasons, main one getting short change. Could have been honest mistake but it’s always an always situation to bring up. I just left it, it was less than then tip I would have left.
Really don’t understand the high ratings, food bad very little taste. Had the drunken noodle and it’s at the top of the worst ones I’ve had. Someone else in party got a few dishes to go ended up throwing one out and barely making it through the other one. If this wasn’t a to go order I would be sending it all back and leaving.
Would not recommend this place.
Always a good little spot in Berea
Best curry dishes I've ever had. Also have great luncheon menus. Highly recommend the Mango Bubble Tea!
A little pricey but the food was good and the lunch specials provided a lot of food.
I am giving this pace two stars, because I usually like coming here. But last time we took our food to go, it was just a mess. We ordered curry and coconut soup, they both have broccoli, but broccoli was so yellow, not green. Thanks for using old vegetable in our food to goo, Sweet Mango. Secondly, when I opened my coconut soup I discovered there a short black hair. Since I was on a date, it was meant to be a nice picnic in the park, I didn't want to make a big deal/ scene of unpleasantness and just pulled it out of my soup. But the last straw was the dirt in our rice noodles that we ordered as a side. It literally had black dirt in between the noodles if they were clumped together. I did take a photo of that one, cause at that point it was enough. I'm giving this place two stars because we had food there in the past and it wasn't bad . But I would t recommend this place any more to any obe after our terrible experience with quality of the take out
It was horrible chicken was tough and curry tasted bland and bad.
Service was fast & friendly. Food was very delicious. Clean and spicy tasting. Prices are very reasonable for the large portions. We can't wait to return.
Good food. The waiter with the dreads is very pleasant. I placed a carry out order one day and went outside to sit and wait for it. He actually brought my order outside to me. I thought that was really nice. When I’m in the area I always come here.
Amazing food and service.
I truly enjoyed this restaurant. There is so many options from vegetarian, fish, beef, and chicken. I love the spicy chicken cashew w. brown rice. My hubby had scallops with veggies. My daughter had a bento lunch meal that she loved. Best Asian food around.
مطعم ممتاز اكل لذيذ خدمة متميزة ..مكان نظيف ..أنصح بزيارته
Really good ice coffee and red curry
the food was just not good.
Great service, the service was 5 star I had the mango something, idk. a restaurant should not serve boiled chicken and barely steamed vegetables.
Sweet mango is always a pleasure, so good and never disappoints. Vegan options galore
Not spicy at all even though the description indicated that it was.
Great food, great people. The people there treat u very well! The food is the best, quiet restaurant, very family friendly!
Absolutely wonderful experience, the restaurant workers were extremely friendly, the coconut soup was the best I've ever had, and the green curry was full of flavor had the perfect level of spice. This place is easily going to be a regular spot for me.
Very good. I had the pad thai, and Don had the hot beef. Definitely coming back. Friendly ppl and fast service.
Had the yellow curry with scallops it was very good. Seafood coconut soup was also very good
Good but overpriced
Clean, friendly staff food was excellent definitely a gem in downtown Berea go and get some delicious food here
Fast friendly service. Excellent food
Good food, nice people!
K and Nicha were awesome and super helpful and very friendly! Great food and service. I am glad I managed to stumble on this place randomly.
This was the worst experience I ever had. So me and my husband ordered pad Thai. I ordered the vegetarian version. They put fish oil in my dish. It tasted so foul. My stomach hurts thinking if it. It was just smelling awful anyways but when you don’t eat meat.. this is just an insult. My husband was ill afterwards. We ordered another dish. We couldn’t even try it, it had that funky smell also. They didn’t even give us forks the second time. We threw our leftovers away on the way out. Never eat here. Food smells like a wet dog
The food was good and lots of menu variety, including a bunch of vegetarian options. I will be going back.
We had the Mango and Coconut Bubble Drinks, sweet and delicious. Our lunch was Wonton Soup, Appetizer, Side salad with special peanut dressing, Chicken Cashew with vegetables and choice of rice. The fried rice was tasty. Lunch was plentiful. I will be back. Thank you
Been here quite a few times over the years. A small, quaint Thai restaurant on the Triangle in Berea. The decor is kinda plain compared to other Thai spots in the area, but it's serviceable. The food is where this place stands out. Ordered the Pad Thai this evening, and thought the serving size was a wee bit on the small side, but when I finished it, I was sufficiently full. Ordered mine with chicken and shrimp and it was very tasty. They also serve bubble tea here as well! This place is conveniently located right next door to Cornerstone Brewery, so come here for some healthy carbs and then ruin it with Berea's best craft beer! Highly recommend
I’ve visited Sweet Mango a lot, both when I was a BW student and again now that I’m back in the area. They are consistently outstanding in service and in cuisine. There are a couple of staff members who have known my “usual” (pineapple fried rice, so good!), which definitely makes me feel valued as their customer. They recently raised their prices in light of rising food costs, and even still I find their dishes to be a good value. It’s also easy to recommend for a variety of diets. Eat here!
Good service. Impressed by the variety of meat options. Seafood soup exceeded all expectations, very good coconut flavor. Good flavors all around. Looking forward to trying more from them.
We were in a rush and they were so nice about everything! Great food too!
Food was good. Service was good. Will definitely go back.
One of the best places in Strongsville to eat
We were visiting Ohio for the first time and was recommended this place by a friend. We went for dinner on a Monday night. The service was great and the food was very good. We had mango bubble tea which was not too sweet, had right amount of boba and taste great. All the food was and overall experience was good.
Would recommend this plane and will definitely come here again.
Good food. Not having egg rolls is kind of a bummer. Also too pricey.
U wait wait wait and wait and no one comes to even acknowledge anything, food good but service is all bad. Why can't restaurants doing good hire more. I see only one girl going up and down all the time.
I love that food
They made a mistake with my payment, charging me for a different order, and couldn’t recharge for the new order. They then refused to give me the food even though it was their mistake.
Sparkling clean and fabulous food
Cozy dinner. Excellent food and service. Will go there again if I return to the Berea area.
Consistent, fast and personal, some of the best authentic Thai I have ever had. Customer for life!
The Red Curry is delicious. Flavorful with the smallest touch of heat.
Delicious food at affordable prices
Best Thai food I've had in Ohio. Everything was delicious.
Great food, fast service and clean restaurants
I can't have gluten and am a vegetarian. I ordered vegetarian pad Thai, vegetable rice and vegetables in curry sauce. Everything was delicious 😋. The pad Thai was a bit overcooked but it was okay. The going lady who took my order and the one I interacted with at the restaurant was very pleasant. Above all my order was accurate!
Great food....simple and complex all at once. Highly recommend.
Very good food, authentic food for South East Asia cuisine
Great customer service. Very friendly which is why I am sad to give the food not the best review. I've had authentic Thai food before and it is so fresh and yummy. I cant say the same with Sweet Mango's food. It was so greasy ans overly sweet. It looked gray, the peanuts were powder and it was hard to say anything bad infront of the waitresses. They were so kind. The food wasn't. Sorry 😞.
Excellent pad thai! The pineapple fried rice is also quite good.
1st time being here with my fiance and the food was great. The appetizers were awesome and everything was hot and ready. Our server was very polite and helpful as well. Great place and great food.
