The Thom Kha soup with chicken is rich and silky smooth with a lively coconut flavor and generous helpings of tomato chunks, mushrooms and spices. The shrimp Spring Rolls were super fresh and refreshingly cool. The Pad Thai was a generous helping and tasty but missing any lime wedges for brightening the flavors. The disappointment was the Gai Krab. The chicken chunks were lightly breaded but dry, stringy and tough. I never finished it. The dish is also very sweet with the fried pineapple chunks. We will definitely go back to work our way through the menu and find new favorites. The place is a real gem off the beaten path.

(Twilight Zone experience) (see photo) I'm still in shock! I ordered the Thai green curry. I eat a lot of Thai food and I liked the fact that they did not ask me how hot I wanted it. Thai food should be cooked a certain way, and it is spicy 🌶️, but you're also given chili oil and fresh peppers in fish sauce on the side to adjust the heat. (see photo) They were ON POINT. This was definitely the best meal I have had during this trip, and it was about half the price of any other. At first, I thought the portions were too large, but that was just the right amount of meat in the bowl was loaded over the top in fresh green beans, peas and fresh bell peppers. Best Thai food in Statesville! We eat there almost once a week

A nice surprise in Statesville! Food was different and done nicely! Just the right spice and well presented. I think if they spent a little time on the look and feel of the restaurant they would have lines out the door.

I have never eaten Thai food before. So I wasn't sure what to expect. Also, I wasn't sure what to order. Ended up ordering a stir fry with salmon. And it was like a flavor explosion. It was so good. The service was great and the atmosphere was peaceful and clam. Really enjoyed my lunch date with my husband there. Was perfect, will definitely recommend to anyone. And will definitely plan on eating again.

Order take out of chicken pho and the broth was spicy and could NOT eat. Tried to call on an different day to let them know, not asking for a refund and the lady was very rude and accused us of putting the spices in and would not listen to anything that I was trying to explain to her and she hung up on me. Very Rude and no concern for their customer that they need to be more careful about preparing their Togo meals. $70.00 is a lot of money to be treated rude.

Spoke with the owner and he was very gracious to redo the order at another time that was convenient to me. I offered to pay and he wanted to make sure I was taken care of. Very much appreciated him taking the time to listen to the issue with the original order and offering to replace.

We all got lunch here (take out) one day after another coworker recommended it, most went for the Pad Thai which everyone loved, while I went for the Yellow Curry. It was delicious! Have been back a few times just for that. We normally get the lunch specials which are priced well & it comes with a spring roll that is always crunchy.

Another coworker said the Fried Rice dish was also good!

Came across this gem tonight and I’m freaking loving the food!! The reviews I read before are correct. I ordered thru DoorDash and the food was amazingly great. Very fresh and the dumplings were phenomenal. I got the Pad Thai, springs rolls and fried dumplings that were different from any I’ve ever had.
If anyone is traveling in the Statesville, NC give this place a try.

Koong Thai offered two tasty meals. It turned out that all of the curries are not able to me made vegan, because everything on the menu with coconut cream also has dairy added. They do, however, offer many other dishes that can be made vegan with tofu as the protein. Their soup with a .5 chili pepper level of heat was WAY spicier than the dish ordered that was supposed to have a maximum 5/5 level of spice. Our server was friendly and attentive.

We been here at least 5 times in the 3 months that we moved to Statesville. Everytime we ate here has been great. I loved how you can actually get the true traditional version of certain dishes. All you have to do is ask, and they make it.

So glad I found this place during there grand opening. The food was good, servings substantial and staff were friendly. I have been several times since when I am passing through the area and encourage friends to try as I was very impressed.

Pretty good food for a hole in the wall next to the Food Lion. The dining room is clean, quiet, and spacious, if not overly decorated. Other reviewers' mentions of large portion sizes for the price are definitely correct and they scored high enough on my "Thai restaurant baseline metric" of chicken pad thai that I'll be back to try other dishes. The tom kha gai has been delicious and repeatably flavorful the last several times I've visited. I love the vegetables they put in it as well as the amount of vegetables in the pad kee mao!

We've eaten here several times, always professional service with a welcoming feel. Great food for the price. Fresh ingredients and the flavors are spot on. Tried several dishes which all have a distinct flavor blend, not tasting all the same just different names. For a great meal with the family visit Koong Thai!

This was my 1st visit. My sons gave a good review about this new restaurant. I had Gai Bangkok. I could smell the peanut sauce when my dish arrived. It was wonderful. We also had the fried and steamed

Just picked up my order tonight. I was very excited to get another Thai place in Statesville. Sadly the yellow curry has no flavor, no sweetness at all and very watered down. It tasted like water with onions.. I had to add coconut milk, spices and curry powder when I got home. Chopstix has smaller portions but the flavor and quality is better than koong Thai.

I was very excited when I saw that we were getting a new Thai restaurant in this part of Statesville. Finally got to try it today and unfortunately it did not live up to the reviews that I have seen posted so far. I ordered the Fresh Basil Rolls with Shrimp and the Pad Thai lunch with Seafood (shrimp, scallops, and calamari) as the protein, to go. Service was pretty quick, I had been told it would be 10 mins and the food was brought out in 5 mins. Interestingly, while I was waiting for my food, I overheard the call of another customer trying to place an order, who was told they don’t have spring rolls, as well as another menu item (I’m not sure what it was, because the item was not repeated by the woman taking the order) and they were told at least 2x during the call that the reason they didn’t have those items was because they (Koong Thai) were using another restaurant’s menu. This seemed a bit odd to me, but I had noticed that there were quite a few hand written edits to the copies of the menus they are currently using (pics below,) so it made some sense after hearing those comments. The basil rolls were good, but I was a little let down that instead of 2 shrimps being in each roll, it was just one that was butterflied. It wasn’t that big of a deal and I still enjoyed them. Note, the price was $5.99 for the rolls with shrimp, which is not listed in the menu I received. On to the Pad Thai…I thought the helping was quite generous and I was excited to dig in. The flavor overall was good, but I had asked for it to be Medium Hot and there was no spice at all. Again, not a big problem, but I was a little disappointed. As I kept eating, I started to realize that all I was getting was noodles…where was the seafood?? I hadn’t yet eaten the 2 shrimps and 1 scallop piece that can be seen in the photo I took before I began eating, so I pulled them aside and began searching through the noodles for more protein. I proceeded to eat the noodles, and pulled out the few pieces of seafood I was able to find. In the whole dish there was 2 shrimp, 3 pieces of scallop, which combined only equaled 1 whole scallop and 2 pieces of calamari. This is when I became very disappointed. They charged almost $4 more for the seafood than the chicken or vegetable option, and all they gave was 5 pieces in the whole dish?! Definitely not worth it. This turned an ok experience into a negative one for me. I may give them another shot, since they have only just opened recently, but I’m thinking it makes more sense to go back to Chopstix, whose Pad Thai with Seafood lunch is $4 cheaper and I know it comes with a more satisfying amount of protein.

This place is so yummy! Finally a Thai restaurant in Statesville!! My family and I ate there tonight and it did not disappoint. We ordered 2 kinds of curry (masaman & yellow), tom yum soup w/ tofu, and the gai yang. The veggies were cooked absolutely perfectly. The yellow curry had the perfect amount of heat to it. The masaman curry was a bit mild for my taste but I’m sure the heat can be increased upon request. The tom yum was flavorful and light. Not only was the food on point but the staff was super friendly. 10/10 definitely recommend!
