Homey restaurant plating Thai salads & soups, along with curries, fried rice dishes & noodles.
We recently dined at Thai@Main St. and were thoroughly impressed. We were the last din-in customers of a Sunday night and yet the service was exceptional, attentive and friendly staff made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The food was authentic and bursting with flavor; every dish was a perfect blend of spices and fresh ingredients. The prices are very reasonable, offering great value for the quality/quantity of the food. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with cozy decor and a relaxing vibe that enhances the overall dining experience. I highly recommend this place for anyone craving delicious Thai cuisine!
I was greeted and seated right away. Servers are friendly and helpful. Food is fresh and super flavorful. I will come back again. I wanted eggplant instead of meat, but they had run out, so I settled for tofu. And I ordered something marked as spicy, but it didn't have any kick to it at all. That was the only disappointing thing. But the flavors were still very good.
We had a very nice dinner at Thai at Main Street. Particularly the Pad Kra Pao was really tasty, and very different from what I expected (positive). The spice was perfect, the meat tasty, and it fitted perfectly with a Singh Beer. Service was really friendly, and really fast. In my opinion the restaurant could step up its game with a better interior design, to make it more appealing for the guests. Other than that - really nice!
One of my favorite restaurants in Durham. I get the same thing every time I go because it’s my favorite— the yellow curry with chicken. The crab rangoons appetizer is also delicious. Everything I’ve tried tastes really fresh. The pad Thai is really good. Their portion sizes are huge for the price. It’s cheap, really nice prices, with large portions and really fresh food. I look forward to eating these leftovers for days. The service is great. The atmosphere is good too. I prefer going when they’re not too busy but I’ve also been when they’re packed and enjoy it every time.

Thai@Main St in Downtown Durham is a must-visit if you’re craving authentic Thai food. For such a busy downtown area, the food and value you get here are absolutely amazing. The restaurant was packed when I visited, but the service was still efficient, and the food quality did not disappoint. It’s hands down some of the best local Thai food I’ve had in a long time, and that’s coming from someone who’s traveled to Thailand!
Every dish was full of flavor and made with fresh ingredients. The menu has a great variety of traditional Thai dishes, and you can really taste the care that goes into each one. I had the Pad Thai and Green Curry, and both were perfectly seasoned and cooked just right. The portion sizes were generous, especially for the price, which is hard to find in such a busy downtown location.
Despite how crowded it was, the atmosphere was still comfortable, and the staff was friendly and attentive. If you’re in Durham and craving excellent Thai food, I highly recommend checking out Thai@Main St. It’s a hidden gem in the heart of the city, and I can’t wait to go back and try more dishes!
This Thai spot was close to the heart of downtown Durham. It looks clean and has a modern vibe to it. We were seated right away and the food came out super fast. We ordered the Red Curry and Pad Thai. The portion sizes were very good for the price and both dishes were very tasty!! We also had the Thai iced teas and they were good too!! This is a great spot for casual lunch, especially with the value of the Lunch menu.
As I was exploring the “Bull City” this morning, found myself in the “Bull Pen”‼️ Recently Military Retired so new to the area, just returned from Thailand a week ago‼️ When I saw this restaurant w/a twist of Bangkok, I got hype…missing the beautiful Bangkok‼️ My waitress (Ms. Bird K., I think was her name) AMAZING‼️ She is from Bangkok…she took the time to enjoy a few of my pics and videos from my time spent in her country‼️😊
Not only the customer service, the food was absolutely delicious, plentiful and reasonably priced‼️ I enjoyed the Roasted Duck, Soup, as well as the Mango w/Sticky Rice‼️ I will go back again and again to try different dishes as well as enjoy the Duck again, the presentation of the dishes…beautiful‼️💜🌸🌺
This is not a fancy restaurant, but it is cozy, well-priced, the food is excellent, and the service is very good. Highly recommended if that is the vibe you are looking for.
The lady at the counter had the nastiest attitude she was so rude the other lady is so nice the rude , disrespectful one shouldn’t be dealing with the public
Vegetarian dishes are made with fish sauce and it is not labeled on the menu.
Steamed veggies are not just steamed but appear to be stir fried in oil.
Food was prepared quickly but doesn't taste that great.
Absolutely the best Thai food in Durham! And everyone there is always very kind. My favorite spot for take-out.
The noodles were overcooked and mushy.
I do delivery services. To keep it short and sweet I do this full-time since I got laid off working through a subcontractor for Amazon. She walked up to me and said do you have a pick up? I said yes ma’am I have two. She asked me what they are. I tell her the names and then she proceeds to ask me to look at the names. I showed her the names on the application we have. and she asked me again for the names. I gave them to her and proceeded to ask why bother asking for the names if you’re going to want to see proof on my phone. She gave me a bad rating for asking her a simple question and continued to talk strong annunciated words in a foreign language to me to her coworker. I will not be back there ever again to eat personally I will do deliveries seeing how I do this full-time, but that is completely uncalled for.
And honestly, I own my own business and we’ve been in business since 1952 used car sales completely uncomfortable and gave me a bad review for asking her a simple question which is pretty logical. Why even ask me What the names are if you’re going to want to see them yourself
Food slapped and portions were massive, sucks the interior of the restaurant is a bit whitewashed but at the end of the day all I care about is the food.
The food's good, I really like the salads, and it's a nice place to meet friends for lunch. They serve rather quickly also
Great restaurant we visit when we are in town. Everything on the menu is great and reasonably priced.
Pad Thai and red curry. Both sorely lacking in flavor heat and creativity. I have had frozen food that was more inspired.
I absolutely love this place!! I get it at least twice a month for carry out and dine in! Food is delicious and service is great! I love the Thai tea and crab wontons and either get the pad Thai, cashew chicken, or pad see ew! Amazing and highly recommend!
The prices were good, I enjoyed my food but I did notice it was void of any typical thai spice, also my bf's food was lacking spice too. I guess this is Thai-American food since they don't add spice to anything ?
A hidden gem. Our food was delicious and their portions are generous for the price. I ordered the fresh rolls and larb and was impressed by how well everything was cooked. Will definitely be back when Im in the area!
Calamari was not pre soaked in milk to tenderize it and I could tell they microwaved it to thaw it out. It was fried well but if the breading tastes better than the actual seafood…
Also they are passing off linguine noodles as rice noodles in all dishes! The pad thai had too much fish sauce and was way too sweet! Gross!
Asked the waitress if they made “Singapore Noodles aka House Noodles” and she had no clue what I was talking about! I won’t be back!

Not the tastes I am used to in regards to Thai food, after living in Asia for several years.
A great place for Thai food! The food is always great and the staff are friendly. The portions are always good and fill me up. The taste is always good and the quality is consistent.
Sooo delicious!
The food was so good & super reasonable. Full of flavor, one of the best pad Thai I've ever had. The staff were helpful and remembered the requests we made. We will go back!

Solid American Thai staples at a reasonable price. Servers are friendly and attentive. I recommend it as a great lunch or casual dinner place

Claimed to be out of the daily special duck written on the big chalkboard by the door.
It's one thing to run out of duck. But how do you run out of eraser?
I was greeted and seated right away. Servers are friendly and helpful. Food is fresh and super flavorful. I will come back again. I wanted eggplant instead of meat, but they had run out, so I settled for tofu. And I ordered something marked as spicy, but it didn't have any kick to it at all. The food was delicious. I had the golden chicken. Service was great. Very clean restaurant. Would totally recommend it.
The food at this restaurant is fantastic. We had the papaya salad, fresh rolls, green curry, cashew nut, pad Thai, and drunken noodles, and everything was delicious! Even better, everything was vegan. In fact their entire menu can be made vegan on request! Also, they use no MSG in their food. The staff are warm and friendly too. This place is a gem and frankly I’m shocked they don’t receive 5 stars from everyone! Honestly it was one of the best Thai meals I’ve had outside Bangkok.
I love this restaurant. I go to it often and pretty. much anything I have ordered is excellent! Love the Drunken Noodles.
Thai@mainstreet has become a regular lunch spot for me. Good lunch specials and they always get my modification requests right
The restaurant is quaint and cozy , great food and service.
Absolutely 💯. My family and I were visiting NC for a few days to see Lion King. This restaurant was on our list of places to visit, and it didn't disappoint. The food was so good I returned the next day. Great and friendly service and reasonable prices.
Love this place, period!
Come hungry and leave satisfied!
Food was good. Came pretty quickly. Not very loud. Our waitress, on this particular day, wasn't the friendliest that I have encountered in restaurants. But was friendly in a couple of other tables she was bus-ing, so not sure what we did :) Anyhow, food was good enough to go back. The Fried tofu was strange. Am used to big cut triangles, this was just cubed tofu fried.
Price is also reasonable.
If the service is better next time, will upgrade to a 5 star.
The food is delicious and will come back to use the service again
I had a great time here. Nice atmosphere, service was good given the business at the time, I was checked on several times. Cooled mug with my beer, the spring rolls were fresh and delicious.
I got a pad thai tofu with mixed vegetables and it was great pad thai
Great Thai food and good atmosphere.
Ginger and Basil rice dishes were really good!

Had a chance to try seafoods salad here , they did a pretty good job of the spiciness and sauce (not too spicy also lime juice + fish sauce soooo good ) of course can’t skip the dessert since it’s in the season of mango sticky rice. Mango isn’t that sweet but still good with those coconut cream and the rice 🤤🤤🤤
I had high expectations for this Thai restaurant, but unfortunately, my experience didn’t meet them. The Tom Yum soup, which I was eagerly anticipating, didn’t quite hit the mark for me. It was heavily laden with mushrooms, and I found it lacking in the robust spices and flavors that I associate with the classic dish. It might just be a matter of personal taste, but I was hoping for a soup with a bit more zest
Food is Tasty and service is excellent
I was given sauce for my egg rolls that had already been used. Someone's left over sauce was given to me. Completely unacceptable. Sadly it won't allow me to attach the photo of it.
The fried rice with vegetables tasted like heaven it was so delicious I love it so much I would definitely get this again. The spring rolls are amazing so yummy I love them to! Definitely recommend this place very good food!
Tried to order a kids meal to go with part of my order to go. Was told no. Mind you, not the only thing ordered. Spent over $55 without a kids meal.
Either order online to get it, or give the kid cash to get their food.
Really good, the curry was delicious!
This place is my favorite Thai restaurant. I had the fried shrimp rice to go. Good portions, good price and most importantly tasty food. I recommend it to anyone in the area!
This place is the best Thai restaurant I’ve ever been to. I would give it 1 million stars if I could. The service was excellent the food even better. and on top of that, the price was well worth the food I was given.
Love this place. Quality ingredients packed full of flavor!
Muy rica la comida
Muy buena la comida 😍
Food was absolutely wonderful. Server had to ask me what i ordered a second time because she didn’t write it down—but everything came out promptly and hot. Would definitely go again.
The worst drunken noodles I have had in my life. They looked good but ended up being overly sweet with a strange aftertaste. The restaurant is clean and spacious. They seemed to be short staffed. Also, street parking is scarce, likely you will end up parking at a garage some blocks away. Overall, if you want good Thai food, don't come here. Better restaurant options include Thai Station, Cham Thai, or Thai Palace, all of these have plenty of free parking and much better food quality.
Exceptional Value and Generous Portions: A Culinary Delight
Unprofessional staff
This has to be the worst red curry I ever tasted. It was so bland it almost tasted like cardboard. I also never received my thai ice tea with uber eats order. And the spring rolls were burnt. Do yourself a favor and take your money to Taco Bell.
Amazing experience!! Food was delicious! 100% recommend! Wait staff was so nice and prices were decent.
Papaya salad was good, could be better though
I was super sad to see a piece of undercooked chicken in my vegetarian tofu red curry. I called the restaurant and asked to talk to someone and was told the manager was gone for the day (understandable, it was 6:30pm) and that they would call me tomorrow. They never asked for a name or phone number so I’m not sure how they’ll do that.
Good is just okay. I’ve had better. The service was not great. We went on a busy Saturday and there were only 2 people working. It’s first come first serve but we waited while others who came after us were seated first. We jaded to ask several times for things like a drink before we received it. The food wasn’t great. Trust me you’ll say you’ve had better. I wouldn’t go again.
Wow la nourriture et surtout la soupe style poulet et nouilles 😋😋 allez-y ça vaut vraiment le détour
My favorite Thai place for takeout downtown
Taste was bad. Soup was cold and too much of fish sauce in the food.
Great Food !
Took the family here after the Durham Xmas parade. The atmosphere was friendly and comfortable. We were seated right away by friendly staff. They answered all our questions, and we were able to find something for every member of our group, even our pickiest eaters (including a vegan, and one who doesn't like 'weird stuff').
The food was prepared quickly and was delicious. Everyone in our group thought it was great; and the kids both volunteered that Thai @main should become one of our regulars.
Tasty, and good service during a rush. We went here right before a DPAC show. Definitely recommend
Really enjoyed the food but the wait is long. (Food is so worth it though, one of favorite places in Durham for sure.)
Green Curry Chicken was great!
Different and wonderful.
Friendly wait staff, prompt service, and a clean environment.
I normally don’t leave reviews. It was a disappointing experience. It was an onion nightmare. I asked for no onions in my dish but it seems they could not do that. Both times.
Food was. Fishy tasting and I didn't have fish
it was good. Decided to try something new.
Last night the waitresses told my son that he cannot use the restroom because he was not a customer but we had been there long enough to receive our appetizers and I our drinks and she still trying to tell him t he could not use the restroom after her employee / co-worker telling her that he was a customer but she still kept saying no sir No sir till they told her to be quiet he is a customer even on was looking like what wrong my waiter was so embarrassed for her but he was a good guy
Food was delicious, service was fast, over all great experience!
A real gem Thai food place in Durham. Loved the food. The service was like icing on cake. The staff is welcoming and really appreciate their work. After coming back from Thailand I really missed authentic Thai taste but this place just filled all void.
My favorite dish is the Khao Soi with fried tilapia!! It’s a curry based dish with noodles topped with fried tilapia and fried noodles. The flavors just hit so well. I like to pair this with the fresh summer rolls. 10/10 one of my favorite restaurants to eat at when I go to Durham.
Good, affordable Thai food.
Best Thai around, and I tried them all.
The others are either too weak / thin or too sweet or too small a portion... thai at main serves a curry that is authentic and a large portion ..
Food really sucks!!!Stay away.
I am a big fan of Thai food. I am not sure how they can screw up Thai food so bad.
We ordered Fried Fish, Red Curry and fried rice. Even the fried rice was bad. How can anyone screw up fried rice?
The cherry on the top was that the hostess was rude
A little pricey but good eats and consistent service
The food was pretty plan. The service was mediocre. It was a bit too cafeteria type dinning.
If I could give this place NO stars this would of been my first option to pick. This restaurant clearly states low employees at the door upon arrival (understandable). No reason as of how my coworkers and I were treated upon asking for a STRAW. Will absolutely never step foot again into this place!
Arrived to have lunch. Water was brought out for us. My coworker asked for straws she handed us 3, my coworker asked for one more and the lady threw it at our table and gave us a hateful look when she saw we were in awe of her doing this. Definitely no way to treat customers. We had just came in and sat down, not even 5 minutes there.
Their fried dumplings were pretty good, but the tom kha, red curry, and pad see ew were absolutely excellent. I almost got an extra order of pad see ew to go! I would happily eat here again.
First time visiting this place and it will be the last. Went here with 4 friends and we all left with a bad taste in our mouths. I love Thai food, but this ain't it. The pad thai was inedible.
Pad Thai was not good. Curry chicken was not good.
I lived in SE Asia for four years and I can confidently say the food has nothing to do with Thai food, and just tastes horrible. Ordered tom yum noodle soup and it has no flavor other than being too sweet and salty. There is very little protein and it also tastes bad, to the point I couldn’t eat most of it because I’m afraid I would get food poisoning.
Great food, great value.
I went to go meet with my cousin Tre who was staying at the Unscripted. We walked to Thai@ Main Street, and I had the grilled chicken. Let me just tell you that it was bland and basic af. The broccoli tasted like it had been popped in the microwave straight from the frozen food aisle at Wegman's, and the chicken tasted like they ran out of seasoning and didn't get the re-up yet. If Jesus came down from heaven and ate one meal to determine if he would smite the universe based upon the quality of food then let me assure you that if He went to Thai@ Main St then I fear for the human race as we know it. When you're walking down Main St and it looks all sweet at Thai@ Main St trust and believe that you need to keep walking cause what they serve I could make at home all day.
The food is phenomenal
pov. you walk into a restaurant and the sign on the wall says. “the whole world is understaffed. be kind to those who show up.” it’s almost like. they expect their service to be bad? and they want you to too? obsessed with the transparency honestly. however our service was pretty speedy (as one of three tables in the whole place) and effective except that i was kinda under the impression we’d get chopsticks and not forks but hey. as a non asian person i understand the bias. my favorite part of the experience was the man sitting across the room from me sitting (and ordering food!) with his elbows resting on his knees like it was super bowl sunday. what u need your center of gravity so low for king? the 10ft dash to the bathroom? anyways i got the drunken noodles thai spicy but honestly. not that spicy. and better with chopsticks. but i digress
They close at 9 not 9:30 pm. We walked in at 9:05 pm on a Sunday and they didn’t even say they were closed as we stood by the host stand that said please wait to be seated. Five minutes went by that we were ignored. Finally I asked to be seated and she said oh we are closed. I said the door says 9:30 and she said we closed at 9. Takeout wasn’t an option either. The worst part was she didn’t even offer an apology!
They won’t take orders up to their close time.
As a huge fan of thai food, I am a little disappointed with the food here. We went as a group and ordered a lot of dishes, and every dish is kinda sweet. Even though we ordered it as medium spicy. We ordered drunken noodles with chicken, Khao soi with fried chicken, tom yum soup with shrimp, basil fried rice, Bangkok curry fried rice etc... there is no flavor at all in some of the dishes like Basil and Bangkok fried rice, and shrimp in soup was a little smelly. Even though we complained about Basil fried rice, there is no reaction. I also ordered fried banana dessert, and it is definitely not my taste.I felt a little weird with the texture. Overall, thai iced tea was really good, and in food, appetizers were good, like chicken satay , crab wonton and main entrees , drunken noodles and Khao soi were good and can be better. The remaining are okay.
Great atmosphere and great food.
It was really good.
Great, fresh, cooked to order.
Really good food. I had the Chicken Pad Thai and steamed dumplings. Great atmosphere and great service.
Food was great the service was fast and the people were wonderful!!
Very good. The food/service/atmosphere all was good.
It's bomb. Authentic and my favorite Thai place on the east coast. Thai Fried Rice is my go to.
A great place for Thai food. The staff was very kind to provide pure vegetarian options without fish sauce and eggs. The side salad with peanut sauce was very yummy.
Amazing and authentic Thai. Loved the khao soi and pad Thai here. If you've never had it, make sure to try the mango sticky rice when it's in season.
raw shrimp and uncooked mushroom in a water soup, they took the wrong order and scammed our group into ordering portions we did not
Food was really good. Service was speedy. Staff nicely attentive, although they weren't really familiar with the details of the wine list. Be sure to have a reservation during prime hours.
Finally found a reasonably priced place that my children and I both can enjoy great food.
I love Thai food and this left something to be desired. The plate presented much better than it tasted. I ordered the Golden Grilled Chicken, and the chicken didn’t seem “grilled” at all but more like baked chicken. It had zero flavor — no seasonings/spices — just literal plain chicken.
I will recommend the Pad Thai. Good size portions. Delicious!
A very rememerable Red Curry Chicken
Amazing food, first time I ever tried Thai food and it was really good
bussin bussin, can't go wrong here
I love their Pad Thai at Main. My husband gets thr chicken pad thai and I get the veggie pad thai and or shrimp pad thai. We always bring our friends and family here. Great service and great food.
Flavorful food. Too bad I didn’t get to take pictures which I usually do. Recommended it to my colleagues and friends as well.
I loved it, great gluten-free options, quick service, really yummy!
