My husband and I went to Basil Thai Cuisine for Valentine’s Day. The host immediately greeted and welcomed us to the restaurant. The owner also greeted us and is personable; he took us to another section of the restaurant that was more romantic and less traffic compared to the main restaurant. Sophie was our waitress and provided excellent service. She was prompt and knowledgeable. Our appetizers were the wings and that along with the sauce made it competitive with other wing spots I like. I was indecisive about what I wanted and asked Sophie to help me after giving a few of my options. She suggested I get the Basil Mixed Seafood, and I’m happy I selected it. The food was flavorful, and I had enough to take home. My husband got the Red Curry Duck and that was also flavorful. I also recently experienced a loss in my family and cried as a result of my grief. It was my first time out in a restaurant since my loss, and I was emotional. Sophie immediately came and consoled me. She gave me words of comfort, and my husband and I appreciated her for that. Sophie is an amazing waitress. She went above and beyond and her service exceeded my expectations. If you visit Basil, be sure to ask for Sophie.

Food here is really really good and I'd recommend getting it with just a little bit of spice to give it that perfect kick. From even walking into the restaurant, service was very nice and we felt very taken care of. We got the pad see ew and I got it with the medium level of spice and it just hit the spot. Their rolls are also really good if you choose to get those as an appetizer. Feel free to ask them for recommendations as they have a lot of different good picks that you can select from!

Then we had to wait again for the correct orders to be made. Slowly but surely the food started to appear with some of the orders still wrong. At this time we were over the entire experience. The manager came over as he knew it wasn't our first time and apologized for the service stating he was working with new staff. At the end of the night he comp the dinner because the service was just that bad. I mean people who came in after us received their food first and had just as much people with them.

Fast forward to last night. This time it was just my husband and myself. We were seated quick enough since I had made reservations. The server came and greeted us. Got our drink orders and appetizer. She came back 10 minutes later to say the bartender could not make one of our drinks a pineapple cocktail. We settled for gingerale. Then 15 mins went by still no appetizer which was just the lettuce wrap. She came back we placed our entree order. After 5 minutes came to apologize because one of the entrees was done so i needed to substitute for something else. I ended canceling the appetizer thinking by the time we got that our dinner would probably coming up too. We waited and waited and waited at 1 hour we got up and left. I paid for my drink and left. I use to enjoy dining here but no more. We wasted time and money for a horrible experience. I hope they get it back together soon because they will continue to lose loyal and new customers. Even the couple next to us had to cancel their dessert order because it was taking too long. I overheard them talking and complained about the service too. This was my husband first time here and what I expected to be a great first impression turned out to be a horrible experience making me feel bad for ruining his bday weekend by recommending coming here in the first place.

You will be leaving with a full tummy with the portions. restaurant is clean and tasteful decorated. Highly recommended!!!

Ordered on an app and didn't realise it was outside business hours. Went to pick up our order and the owner (?) very kindly explained that the app doesn't let them disable orders outside of business hours. Luckily for us it was close enough to opening time that the staff was in and they very kindly made our order for us anyway.
The food was delicious and the staff obviously very kind and accommodating!
Next time I'm in town I'll definitely stop by again during business hours of course 😅

We went to celebrate my wife’s birthday and it was an amazing dinner. Cynthia and the rest of the staff provided a great experience. I had the Duck pho and my wife had the Green Papaya and shrimps salad (loved it!) The wine recommendation was on point and I will return as soon as we go back to the area.

This is the 3rd time I have tried to order takeout..whether it be lunch or dinner and I have been told they can’t take anymore orders..what’s the point in having open and closing times if you don’t go by them..being in the food industry myself I’ve never seen it before..love the food but I doubt I will try to get food here again..stop seating I can understand..but even takeout denied is ridiculous

Was okay but really enjoyed Columbia location.

Portions get smaller and smaller, prices going up. We ordered doordash, have ordered 20+ times over the last year. The food is very good but the portions are ridiculously small. The 24$ prik king was less than 1 individual portion. I called to give feedback and was told manager would call back…surprise, no call back. Will be hard pressed to go back again.

We had dinner there the other night. My wife had stands of hair in her Pad Thai. When we asked the waiter to take it back. The owner came out intoxicated, belligerently slurring and accused the hair of being my wife’s and refused to send it back. Then he went behind the bar and started taking shots. I felt like he cared more about drinking than he did about the quality of food and their customers experience. NEVER NEVER NEVER AGAIN.

I ordered take out for the first time here. I ordered red curry. It was sour, no bell peppers and the bamboo shoots were so hard. I called to be helped and I patiently waited for someone to call me back and they kept pushing it off. The owner hopped on the phone and was so rude to me. I've never been treated like that. He didn't want to help me. Was sarcastic and said "you got red curry didn't you?" He also proceeded to say he wouldn't refund me and might give me half of my money back and persisted to be sarcastic and rude. I enjoy so many other Thai places like DEEJAI Thai, Rai Lay Thai, Thai Taste. I would never come back to this place after being treated like that.

The Pad See Ew was AMAZING! But the Green Curry lacked flavor.

We have ordered here countless times through Door dash and loved it every time. We regularly order the basil rolls, pad thai, fried rice, and green curry amongst other items. This evening we ended up finding it on Uber Eats, and all but the green curry were drastically different in quality. May not order from here again unfortunately.

Very disappointed! I walked in to have lunch with 2 friends and before ven I can ask for a table a rude man told me if I didn’t have a reservation I’ll not be able to have a table. Super nice atmosphere. The owner definitely got class and style. Not to mention me and the wife were running a little late and they still served us an hour before closing. Definitely will be coming back!

Came in on a Sunday evening right as they were opening and got to be seated by the owner of the establishment. He was super friendly and kind. Made sure that my wife and I had a great experience for our 6th anniversary.

The food was amazing. The Pho was super unctuous and rich. The Prik King was delicious with just the right about of heat to make the dish really pop. Portions were generous and filling.

Our server Sofie was very sweet and made a genuine connection with us about music. And ensures that we knew about the drink menue as well as the specialties.

Overall a fantastic experience that I would happily repeat any time we are back in Charlotte.

Came in for a Uber ride eats order and the person ordered 2 things wonton soup and egg rolls x2 . The hosted said it should be out shortly but waited 25 minutes for the food . Extremely disappointing experience at Basil Thai Cuisine, Charlotte last night and I don't plan to return until the issues listed below are not addressed.

The issues were multifaceted:
1.⁠ ⁠Undercooked food: Ordered the Satay (Chicken) and was shocked to find it undercooked. Specifically, the chicken was not roasted or grilled properly/half cooked. I understand mistakes happen, but food safety is crucial. The server was attentive, agreed to accept the mistake, kind and ambiance was Okay. However, the undercooked food overshadowed these positives. I hope the kitchen takes necessary steps to ensure proper cooking procedures.
2.⁠ ⁠Argumentative manager/Owner: When I politely reported the undercooked food, the server (Ms. Irina) attentively shared this with the Owner/manager (Mr. Chai) who became defensive, dismissive and it was very unprofessional to be argumentative and refused to change the food or remove it from the bill, was very rude too by saying we had half of the food which is not true- we just have had 1.5 pieces out of the 4 pieces(Our thoughts- how customers will try the food if they didn't eat).
3.⁠ ⁠Deplorable bathroom conditions: The restroom was not in good condition, with broken sink, tap, no clean toilet paper, no clean napkins with a broken napkin dispenser, green stain accumulation around sink and an overwhelming stench.

Recommendations:
1.⁠ ⁠Improve quality control in the kitchen.
2.⁠ ⁠Provide proper training for cooking techniques.
3.⁠ ⁠Consider offering refunds or replacements for undercooked dishes.
4. Proper maintenance and cleanliness needed at the restaurant.
5. Main Door should be replaced – (two people needed to open it yesterday)

I'm not a frequent eater of Thai food, very much an American pallette. I met a colleague here for lunch meeting, is with walking distance of offices. Wait staff very helpful and at recommendation of waitress and colleague, ordered the Pad Thai (chicken) medium heat. Food was good but service and atmosphere were excellent.

Had lunch a couple of times with my co-workers. Service and food were good each time but nothing extraordinary. We've walked to the restaurant, so cannot tell about parking. Not sure I would recommend as it is a bit pricy for Thai food.

My family went to celebrate my sister’s birthday, but the night was ruined by terrible service. Our waitress was rude and even told my sister how to eat her food. The owner was even worse—entitled and disrespectful. He stared at us the whole dinner and made a snide comment about his expensive chairs when my sister sighed as she sat down. Every time the server got “mad,” she would run to the owner, who then whispered to her while staring at us. Avoid this place if you want to enjoy your night.

I ordered delivery pad thai from Basil Thai and unfortunately was disappointed. The rice noodles were extra-thin, not medium as you typically see in a pad thai which made the eating experience a little off. I also ordered mild (there was no option for “no spice” in the ordering system, which is what i would have chosen) and the dish came to me with a medium spice level. It wasn’t inedible, not pleasant. The portion size was quite large though!

We ordered several entrees and the veggies and sauce were fine but the chicken was vile. It tasted old and was chewy. The waitress also had a horrible attitude and seems to need some emotional medical attention. The atmosphere was nice but the food and service left much to be desired.

Excellent food, parking is just a hassle.

Honestly wouldnt know how good the food is or the atomsphere, ive tried to go here probaly 4 times and its always closed; Closed on saturdays for lunch for some reason, closed at 9 on a friday even though their website says 10; always hear about how good it is but really cant understand how they survive in their location being open for a total of 5-6 hours in a weekend.

Trash food from a trash restaurant with trash customer service. I see why they have a lower rating. Whoever the manager is is the rudest and least helpful individual I’ve encountered in the service industry. Ordered food for delivery…after an hour of no show, called the restaurant to get an update or info on how I could contact the delivery service. That is when I was unfortunate enough to encounter such an angry human being telling me he’d done his part and has no way of contacting the delivery people and didn’t bother to offer any other assistance. After he hung up on me while claiming to go get the delivery service number , I had to call back to even get the number…forget the food, the sour taste of terrible customer service was it for me.

Collin’s hospitality was so great! He was so kind and attentive! And the food yea…it was amazing!! Definitely coming back!

**Avoid This Place**

After years of loyalty, we were treated with utter disregard. This experience has completely soured our view of this restaurant. We will no longer be patronizing this establishment and highly discourage anyone considering dining here. The inconsistency and lack of respect for loyal customers are truly disappointing. Do yourself a favor and find a place that values its patrons.

Backstory:
My fiancé and I have been loyal patrons of this establishment for 7+ years, frequently ordering what we considered our favorite meal in Charlotte. This evening marked the end of our support for this local business.

After a long day of traveling with flight delays, we decided to treat ourselves to our regular order through ChowNow; the ordering platform on their website. When I arrived to pick it up, I was informed that the order had been canceled. They had reported it as canceled through ChowNow.

We live 30 minutes away and make the commute specifically for this meal. Understandably frustrated, I voiced my concerns. A gentleman, approached and stated he as the owner and proceeded to explain that they would “no longer be making dishes like this,” referencing specific changes to the meal due to certain ingredients.

Note: my fiancé cannot have certain ingredients because of her allergies.

The cancellation of our order, without alternative suggestions and refusal to accommodate allergies, is unacceptable. How can you cancel an order if you offer the option(s) on your ordering platform?

The owner’s attitude was shockingly rude and dismissive. He made no effort to offer an alternative solution or show any empathy for our situation. Instead, he was condescending and unhelpful, treating our concerns as an inconvenience rather than an opportunity to maintain customer loyalty.

I was shocked and honestly thought this was a joke. For seven years, we've placed the same order ($50-$80+ w/ cost increase) often, with occasional dining at the restaurant for birthdays and special occasions with friends.

Great food with a relaxed vibe. Our server struggled a bit, but the others helped him out and made sure we had a great evening.

I had the Pad See Eu $18 and drank water, gave a 22% tip. With tax my bill should have been $23 ish. I was charged $27.35.

This place is a bit pricey for Thai food. The pad Thai is fairly average for the price. I had masaman curry, which was great, but again, pricey. Nice atmosphere and good service.

They gave beef when we told specifically no beef and add shirmp. They added just 1 shrimp to it.red thai curry was very bad.

We came with my family for my birthday dinner. Michael was our server and he was amazing! Very quick, attentive, makes sure to read back your order before leaving the table, and makes great suggestions. The food was soooo good!!! It came out hot and fresh and all the flavors are delicious. One of my favorite places to eat…it’s a must try!

I don’t usually write reviews but, here we are. As I’m writing my review, I noticed there was already a bad review from hours (8) before. First, we can start with the food- for the pad thai, the chicken smelled like wet dog and the pad thai itself was barely edible. As an Asian-American, I had pad thai before and this wasn’t it.

The waitress pointed out that one of the people at our table enjoyed their food, come to realize it was because they omitted the chicken from their dish.

I think the biggest thing, other than the pad thai- was the fact that our server had no common sense when it comes to being a server. She was the one with the brown, short hair and wore glasses. I think there was some miscommunication due to her having an accent as well, but she genuinely seemed she didn’t really understand what I was trying to communicate to her when I talked about the food not being good.

As a waitress myself, I definitely am more understanding when mistakes happen. For her, after we told her the food was bad and we couldn’t eat it, she didn’t seem to show any remorse and said “well it’s pad thai…” when we explained why it was inedible and shrugged us off and didn’t do anything about it. At the end of the night, when one of the members of our party went to pay, she told the waitress again about how she couldn’t eat the food- the waitress just shrugged and insinuated “well you chose that food, that isn’t our fault”. I can’t speak for ALL restaurants but at my restaurant, if a customer told me that they didn’t enjoy the food (after I check on them) I immediately go to try to find a solution. In this case I would’ve told my manager to help sort it out, or even ask if they want something else instead (send it back to the kitchen).

For her, she never even told her manager. She told him after we paid 💀. Like what do you mean you never told him about the food when you came by to ask?

At the end of the night, the person who paid didn’t want to give tip. For this person, this was very big- she always tips way more, especially for exceptional service! Of course, that led to the manager coming to our table. I think he was trying to be nice- but it definitely came off as aggravated 😭 He was telling us that he tries to stand with his servers (which of course I get- as he should! Unless they are in the wrong- which in this case, hate to break it to you) He asked us why we didn’t tip. I told him what I told the server earlier, which was that the food wasn’t good and we couldn’t eat it, the chicken smelled like wet dog. He definitely pushed us to tip her in a very stand-offish way, but in the end we did tip her (honestly bump America just pay a good wage lol). But here is where I knew she didn’t understand what I was trying to communicate. I was trying to find a solution, which I threw an idea out there which was “why don’t you just take off the food since we didn’t eat it, and with that money take it as a tip”. She then told her manager that we told her to pay for our food 💀 Like girl, what? After I said to grab the manager for help, she then, in her frustration as well, went to get him and as I explained it to him he said that was not possible.

Mind you, I have been to other Basils- I actually went to the Charleston location before, the food and the service was great. I genuinely think it is just a big management problem. At the end of the day, the girl was trying I’m sure- but she just ended up coming off as rude and with no hospitality senses. So come here if you want your night to be ruined lol. We got McDonalds afterwards 🤷🏻‍♀️

And, just something I have a problem with- the bathroom was also pretty dirty 😭

I don't normally post food reviews (good or bad) but I had to say something this time. First off, upon entering the restaurant I was greeted by the hostess. Before I could get a word out of my mouth, the phone rang and she chose to pick up the phone instead of focusing on me. (note to management) The most important customer is the one in front of you! If you can't do two things at once (and you can't) hire another cute girl to stand there and do nothing until there's something to do. Dining alone I decided to sit at the bar. Mistake! The bartender did not focus on me for a second. Instead of coming up to me seat, putting down a coaster and asking me if I wanted a drink or to order food, he talked to me while he was working, with his back turned to me. I had to ask him twice to stop and walk over to me so I could hear him and visa versa. (very frustrating). Next comes the food. I ordered a spicy noodle dish with chicken. The chicken was so bad I couldn't chew through it and had to send the dish back. (IT WAS NOT FRESH MEAT!)> I've had this dish more than 100 times in the last 30 years. If I have to send it back, it's BAD. I asked that it be replaced with tofu, fearing the same result if I got beef. Edible, but lacked flavor and authenticity. Interestingly enough, while waiting for my adjusted check, 2 ladies sat down with low cut tops. For them the waiter walked up to the bar and asked them for their order without moving around or shaking his shaker! The adjusted bill came back and the wrong order was taken off the check. SURPRISE SURPRISE. This had to be done over. Here we go again. Then the tip scam. They put the little computer in front of you and show you 3 tip choices: 15%-20%-25%. The adjust bill was just over $27, yet the 15% tip recommendation showed - $9.60!! Hello, that's 35%!. 15% is $4.10. I WON'T BE BACK!

The Thai beef salad is the bomb + eggrolls.

We went to this restaurant yesterday. The place was not crowded and we were able to get a table in the minute that we arrived. We faced some issues to communicate with the waitress but when the food came, it was amazing. After that, evertyhing went wrong. We asked to split the bill and they said it is ok. We asked to the manager to come by and help us and he was extremely rude. They tried to print and charge us with a wrong bill, even when we told them that it was wrong. I do not recommend this place at all.

The food itself was good, but the service was too slow and the waitress did not understand what we wanted. As you go as a group of 6 and more persons, they automatically charge extra 20% that they serve you. At the end, we wanted to split the bills and waitress insisted on paying altogether, which we could finally do after 20 minutes of arguing. The manager was impolite and insisted on charging us more than we originally got in the bill - they charge some extra meals. And he came with two different blls for our table - one that we received from waitress to pay and one we received later with additional meals on the bill. Really bad customer experience.

The food was great but the service was horrible, our server could not understand what we were saying, it took forget to pay the bill because they she couldn’t process separate checks (despite saying she could) and then at the end they issued another bill different from the one they got us and insisted it was right, after reviewing it we showed them that they wrongly charged us for another item. The manager was extremely rude and after discovering the mistake on their part he gave a light apology.
A complete failure in customer service and incompetent service

I have been coming to Basil for years (More than 10 years). Anyone who knows me, know this is the restaurant to purchase a gift card for me. Tonight, I was dying to get a Pad Thai
What happened to the food – taste - quality! In all my years, this was horrible. When I opened the box, it did not look the same. When I took a fork full; it was like I was eating paste. It tastes somewhat under cook! I am so disappointed!!!! I paid over $40 to come home and have this. . Let’s get back to what made Basil the ONLY place to have Thai food.
You can’t raise the price and give poor undercook food!

We were from out of town looking for Thai food. Our food was great and loved the tea. The dirty bathrooms were the only turn off, they need to work on that.

Food here is really really good and I'd recommend getting it with just a little bit of spice to give it that perfect kick. From even walking into the restaurant, service was very nice and we felt very taken care of. We got the pad see ew and I got it with the medium level of spice and it just hit the spot. Their rolls are also really good if you choose to get those as an appetizer. Feel free to ask them for recommendations as they have a lot of different good picks that you can select from!

Best Pad Thai I've ever had.

Food was delicious! Had the shrimp barramundi.. both sweet and slightly spicy, shrimp cooked perfectly

One of my fav dinner spots near Tryon. I’ve had a few different dishes and have always loved them. Definitely recommend to stop by and try it out.

The food was terrible, I haven't been there in about 4 months and it was great. Now something has changed new cook or something the food is completely different and terrible. I called the manager and he said we can remake it if you drive back and I live 30 miles away. He said o well so sorry no refund for you.

I want to start by saying the prices are a little criminal. I got the basil with shrimp and it was $28. Don’t get me wrong, it was delicious, but a dish over white rice should never cost that much. I also got the beef satay which was $17. It was 4 skewers and the beef was a nice tender cut. I did takeout and the ordering platform was easy to use. Overall, very good food and you get what you pay for, but I really don’t think it should cost this much.

Pad Thai absolute best!

We had the wontons for an appetizer and the sour seafood soup. Everything was delicious and the atmosphere was amazing with clean tables, good presentation, and great music. Our server was Tansu B., she was fantastic. She made very good recommendations and cared for us well

Enjoyed my night out at Basil-uptown. The food was tasty, the atmosphere was great, and our server Tansu, hostess’ and management were more than delightful. We will be returning!

A wonderful experience all around

We had a fantastic girls night meal at Basil tonight. The pad thai, pad see ew, and red curry shrimp were all flavorful and perfectly portioned for sharing. The music was great, and the servers, Collin and Trent, were friendly and attentive. The manager, Robert, was also kind and personable, which made for a truly enjoyable dining experience. Highly recommend Basil!

This place is amazing!! The food, the service was 10 out of 10!!! Robert the manager, Trent the water servicer, and Colin our waiter were so friendly and kind and it made my experience that much more enjoyable! I will be back here to enjoy the atmosphere once more very soon!! Thank you!

I am very disappointed in my visit to Basil Thai in Charlotte. I have been a couple times and decided to bring my daughters to try the food. My oldest daughter ordered sweet and sour chicken and didn’t like it. The server brought the owner to the table so my daughter can nicely explain why she didn’t like the entree. My daughter was only asking for her entree to be taken off her ticket, and the owner said he can’t do it because he couldn’t take the loss. Dude if $22 bucks will cause you to go out of business than you need to shut down and work at a 9-5 at this point . The owner came over with an attitude and was nice nasty with her. We didn’t appreciate how it was handled and will never come back to this restaurant again. I will not recommend this place to anyone. Very disappointed. ☹️

The owner was HORRIBLE! He had an attitude towards my sibling because she didn't enjoy the sweet and sour chicken. The server was more apologetic than him, His response was rude and had very poor customer service. If you can't take a $22 item off a customer check then your business is trash and we will NEVER return. Food is Mid along with the service, don't waste your time.

We ordered the Basil chicken and tofu vegetable fried rice. Basil chicken container was half empty and could have used a lot more broth. Lacked flavour and heat. Tofu veggie rice could have used more garlic, spices and heat as well. Ordered from here in the past and it was much better back then.

They barely had a couple of dishes for vegetarians. Also the curry was bad.

Service and food were amazing. The place was busy, but we did not feel the impact.

The food was just fantastic! I had the basil chicken, which is my usual order at any Thai restaurant. This was probably the best iteration of that dish I’ve ever had. Will definitely be going back! Best Thai food in Charlotte.

Good food and drinks. Would come back again. Pop music (Gwen Stefani) was an odd distraction from the overall vibe.

Was there with my husband for my birthday lunch, nice and quiet. Servers were courteous and food was delicious.

Good Thai food. Not the best I’ve had but definitely worth a visit. Very attentive waitress (“merhaba”)! Good cocktails, too. Atmosphere is fine. They have tried to decorate it nicely. However, one may argue that it looks a bit “cold”—but that’s probably more due to the interior of the building itself as opposed to the owner’s decorative choices. 🤪 Definitely worth a visit!

Next level of service from Kyle and the food/price was solid.

Wonderful staff and a nice setting for a meal. The plating and presentation of the dishes was impressive. Food is generally well prepared and tasty but extremely overpriced. However, not everything is good.

The star of the table was the Volcano Shrimp as far as taste, but the portion was paltry compared to the king's ransom price of $39.

The biggest disappointment was the green curry. Woody undercooked peas with chewy overcooked chicken in a bland and watery green curry sauce. Not authentic and just plain blah.

In the middle was the duck. Delicious perfectly cooked duck in a mediocre sauce with overcooked and mushy eggplant. It was a good portion but again, not worth the $39 price tag.

Service from hostess stand, to bar, to table was all spectacular. The staff is highly trained and highly motivated.

Bar, bartender and drinks were very nice and prices are very reasonable for the quality.

The decor and overall space was nice, clean but nothing special.

There are better Thai restaurants in town and uptown has prettier, tastier and more reasonably priced restaurants on every block.

Amazing food! Super friendly staff! A treat for me once a week!

Amazing food and the best service. Micheal was an amazing server and well humored. Marcus was our main waiter and bartender that made the BEST MARTINIS that should be on the menu. They were topped with some of the best white chocolate I've ever had, they were kind and constant, and I greatly enjoyed their recommendations and bartending skills. If you love Thai food and espresso martinis, ask for the Marcus martini!!!

There was a young man named Michael who delivered our entrees to the table. You can tell he loves his job because he went above and beyond and exceeded our initial expectations. Food was great. Awesome atmosphere. Highly recommend

Worst Thai restaurant award 🤢 If you want good authentic Thai food don’t come here it’s a waste of time Chicken in curry was still raw, the owner (the old long hair dude) loves to get drunk at his own bar every day and harass the workers while at it.

I came into your restaurant. It was absolutely wonderful food with an amazing atmosphere. Michael brought our food and was doing other things as well. He was amazing and had such a bubbly personality. I wish everyone could be like that. I will be back❤️

This was my first time visiting and had an amazing experience with NOI! She made my night and was the best server I have ever had. The food was also great but she made the experience even better!

We went to celebrate my wife’s birthday and it was an amazing dinner. Cynthia and the rest of the staff provided a great experience. I had the Duck pho and my wife had the Green Papaya and shrimps salad (loved it!) The wine recommendation was on point and I will return as soon as we go back to the area.

Used to be good; maybe absorbing losses from PokeBowl - but no excuses. Used to go all the time, less and less - and now never again. Bartender needs a new career and attitude - and manager should not set and watch it happen…. Much better Thai in CLT - time to explore…

Food was good, but having paid $19.50 for red curry, I would have expected a larger portion. There was enough rice but I've been to other Thai restaurants that give more food and are cheaper. Flavors were great but the value is not there, perhaps it's being located in Uptown that makes it more pricy.

Try this place if you love Thai food AND especially if you’re not sure! Each entree was as delightful as the next and the chicken/shrimp wontons are to die for! The only thing better than the food was the service. Cynthia and Michael took great care of us. We (me, my husband and 10 year old) didn’t consider ourselves fans of Thai food but we are now, and particularly fond of the welcoming nature and consistent excellence we received at Basil!

Great find in Charlotte. Wonderful service with Ashley, food was great, open late and staff very helpful. Definitely would recommend.

I had the Green Curry. It was miles ahead of any I had had in Charlotte.

From a person who comes here often, we had to change our reservation time and a young lady called us and informed us that the kitchen closed at 9pm and that they were open till 10pm. We were going to cancel but they encouraged us to come. We came in sat at the bar and the bartender a gentleman was instantly rude. Requesting us to sit somewhere else. I am a server and love to eat here. Unfortunately I will not be returning to this location. Extremely rude service from the gentlemen bartender. The young lady was extremely kind. We felt the need to pack our food and wine togo because we were rushed and pushed to leave.

Also from a bartender who bragged about working since 2012. Needs to learn some manners and how to treat guests.

The food and service were exceptional. The bartender Colin was super knowledgeable behind the bar, made us some wonderful drinks, and was very friendly. Highly recommend.

The place feels nice, for casual or for a date
The food presentation was pretty nice, but quality is 50/50
The brown rice was not cooked as how is supposed to so changed to jasmine rice
The seafood pot was spicy as we had selected, sufficient quantity and pretty yum!
My friend ordered the duck, it looked like a nice dish and plump looking duck.
1. it wasn't crispy
2. A LOT of fatty portions your wouldn't want to eat
3. It wasn't spicy at all considering we were asked if mild, medium, or spicy hot. My friend selected spicy. They also couldn't do extra curry sauce (regardless with extra charge or not)

I've had much better crispy curry duck from a visit over at Thai Orchid that had real depth of flavor and coconut undertones. Although that place was run by people with Thai ancestry and this is obviously a western restaurant.

Came to basil Saturday night, had padthai. It was excellent, Collins the bartender made me a smoking old fashion. I'll definitely come back for service alone.

Food was bland and unseasoned and noodles were old.

We went here with 5 adults and 1 teenager. The food was delicious. The service was perfect. It was a Friday night at about 8:30pm. We waited about 15 mins for a table. Then, another 20 for our food to arrive. Volcano Shrimp, pad Thai, red curry, crab rangoons, spring rolls, and fried rice. Everyone was happy with their choices. I recommend Basil and will return.

It was a very nice restaurant. We all had different dishes and every one of them was wonderful. I had chicken fried rice, loved it. The serving size was pretty big and well worth the money.

Ordered delivery -- they gave me chicken when the order clearly said tofu, so I couldn't eat my food.

The ambiance is wonderful, laid back, and cool. Good vibes, for sure. I ordered the wontons, which we're some of the best I have eaten in the city, by far. Also, I had the fried rice with basil added. Yumm as well
Colin (at the bar) made my 1st time experience here amazing. He had multiple customers, including a party of 6 young ladies he tended to. Let me just say he didn't miss a beat at all. He is the reason I would recommend giving this place a visit. He is attentive, genuine, and kind. You don't get that type of service everywhere anymore. It's like a lost art he has mastered. Great late lunch ( before IMAX at Discovery Place ) with shared YUM YAI salad followed by PAD THAI & RED CURRY ! All delicious with the best service from MARCUS . Highest recommendations!

Really disappointed with the flavor of the red curry and Pad Kee Mao. For the price, I expected it to be really good and it's now one of my least favorites in the area. There are better and less expensive Thai places in the area.

One of the best pho in Charlotte. If you love pho, you have to go here. Just that simple. Beef tender, super frequent broth. They added a bit of fat to the broth. Huge portion for price point. Service was great. Classy place. Pad Thai was very good as well.

We chose Thai food to celebrate our 25th anniversary! We were served by great servers. The food was delicious.

I’m really bummed about this experience. We traveled uptown for dinner and a play. The play started at 7:30 PM. Since the venue was only a block away from Basil Thai, I assumed a 6:15 PM reservation would be enough time to eat and go to the show. We arrived on time but were not seated until 6:30 PM. The hostess didn’t give us menus and we had to wait 5 minutes for a waiter to acknowledge us and bring waters. We informed the server that we were under a bit of a time crunch due to being seated late. The waiter got us menus and we ordered right away. Our drinks and appetizer came out timely. But our food did not come out until 7:20 PM. We almost ended up leaving without it. We had to eat as much as we could in 5 minutes, sign the check, and sprint to the venue. It was not an enjoyable experience especially considering Basil Thai is on the pricier side and we weren’t able to eat even half of the food we ultimately paid for. On top of that, the staff didn’t seem to care or acknowledge the situation or attempt to remedy it. This review gets 1 extra star because the pad Thai and the basil rolls were yummy. But given the service, I would be hesitant to come again, especially before an event.

Took a party of 5 and the food and service was excellent. AJ, server, was attentive, informative and an overall great person. The manager was also engaging and helpful and the chef even came out to make sure the food was to our liking. The Nom-Sod and Basil Duck were the highlight of our meal. Highly recommend them. Best fried rice we had at a Thai restaurant and the Pad-see-ew was also great. Highly recommend giving this spot a try. Oh and the fried ice cream was the perfect ending to our meal.

Food is so delicious, and service was pleasant. Alejandro, our waitress was very helpful and explained and recommended our plates and entries. We highly recommend this place!

Kristin, the support, was everywhere in the restaurant, filling glasses, cleaning spills, and making everyone feel taken care of. I had the pad prik with beef, and it was absolutely delicious.

Tried Basil Thai for the first time tonight. Food was excellent and service was impeccable. Highly recommend.

Food is amazing. Had a really solid smoked old fashioned. Atmosphere was very enjoyable. And our waiter Alex was absolutely fantastic. All around I would give this a 4.6 for Thai food spots.

Ordered Pad Thai Chicken to go at 5p tonight. I think it was leftover from lunch. It was ready in like 2 mins and the chicken was so dry it was horrible. All that for $23.00. Kinda sorry I gave them a tip.

I normally get the “drunken noodle” when I eat at Thai restaurants, here it was the pad ke mow. It comes medium in heatness level, and I typically err on the side of less heat in a Thai restaurant as it can be spicier than normal (I can typically handle a good amount of spice). The medium was not spicy in my opinion, which I liked because I could add spice to my preference. My friends ordered hot and Thai hot and they didn’t think it was as hot as other places. Food was great, service was amazing, and the restaurant was nice as well, modern and clean.

Definitely a cozy spot that can improve on its menu for it’s vegetarian and vegan clients. They dint have any salads , sides, soups with vegetarian options. And spicy level 3.5 was more on bland side. I hope they can improve on these. My non vegetarian friends enjoyed the food, while me not so much.

I was in town for business and decided to pop in to this upbeat looking restaurant. I was immediately greeted by Giselle she was so polite and kind and food was good. Would return.
