The sticky rice was also great, one of my favorites, served in a steamed leaf just like in NYC or Flushing. Prices were all reasonable, will definitely be back here again! Hope you guys bump up your social media advertising, this can be a real hit in Suffolk.

The udon noodles were really good and spring rolls were nice and thin. The shrimp with green beans were good. The duck rolls came with hoisin sauce were okay. The spicy dumplings in hot oil had a nice spicy flavor too! The pineapple fried rice was okay but my son didn’t love it. They also have some other dim sum options and Japanese sodas. Service was good and the place was clean! Would certainly visit again!

There is no longer BBQ or Shabu Shabu available at this location. So perhaps changing the name to avoid any further confusion. Card payments are accepted. Reasonably priced. We will definitely be going back.

This was our first time experiencing JBBQ & hot pot. It was an interesting way to dine and fun to be able to select the many different types of meat, seafood & veggies and you cook everything right at your table.Everything was very fresh and flavorful. Our host/server Eric was great as well as attentive to our needs. Even the manager, Carmela came over to make sure our experience was a great one.

I been to the Smithtown JBBQ, and that place was AWESOME! I just do not get why you guys would make this one a Chinese one... I absolutely LOVE authentic Chinese food, I mean it, I am so happy that true Chinese food is making the scene all over the world, the most rural places in the US are getting to have authentic Chinese cuisine and while people hate things like chains it is good to see big corporations delivery this, JBBQ is a small franchise as of now, but this is a dumb move guys. I know the logic is from this location it is only 7 more miles till you hit the other one, but why again? The demographic isn't much different, Smithtown is bigger for sure but that location was split in-between suburban Long Islanders and newer residents who were younger, all generations and ages are loving this trend of Asian cuisines especially authentic ones coming to the US. Why would you guys go Chinese Cuisine at this location? I love Xiaolongbao and stuff but why not open a spin-off or let someone else come in for that style of food... JBBQ type of food is something not too often around this area and some places claim to be Japanese Steakhouses but aren't the same, JBBQ pot is super unique and something new and tasty, trying Japanese food with the hot-pot style. I will never understand why they switch this place, respectfully there are more and more authentic Chinese food places opening in the area... well if I see they go back to Hot Pot I will change this review, I say give them a try and give them an honest try but go to the Smithtown one if you want Hot Pot.

Being a Queens transplant and growing up having dimsum on the weekends w/ my parents in Flushing, I was so excited that there was a dimsum option in Suffolk. (esp. since we had a positive exp. at the JBBQ in Smithtown). Unfortunately, our experience here was far from positive. Pretty sure their dimsum/soup dumplings are store bought frozen. Don't expect anything made fresh in house. If you want quality soup dumplings and don't want to go all the way to Flushing, check out You Garden (Bell Blvd. or the Garden City location). If you want dimsum, go to Little Neck. Stay away from here. Would say a dressed up chinese take out restaurant would be the most accurate description of this spot. Tbh, I have had chinese take out better than the dishes we had tonight. Spicy Home Tasty is still the most authenic you can find in the area.

Sadly, the service did not even make up for the poor food. We were served scallops that were still cold in the center and the waitress threw out our dumpling order sheet (she thought it was thrash) so we were left wondering where the rest of the order was most of the service. Finally got her attention near the end of the meal and discovered the mishap. They were unapologetic about their mistake.

My family came here with my parents on a Saturday night. The seafood dish had scallops and they were still cold in the middle. We had to send it back and they gave us a new one. The new seafood dish was again, horrible. The veggies were still raw.

We ordered a bunch of dimsum dishes from the checklist. We handed that list to the server when we ordered our food. We were almost done with our food and the dimsum dishes were still not out yet. We asked the server and she said she doesn’t remember receiving it. She later mentioned she threw it out. My daughter was starving at this point so we had to re-order the custard bun.

When we got our bill, I thought they would comp atleast the buns. They still charged us for the buns that they forgot initially. They were not apologetic at all.

Avoid this place at all cost.

This place has amazing food. Everything we ate was excellent. We usually get szcehuan style food near me and their spicy chicken was much better. When I am not feeling hot pot this will be my too go place.

Although the food was good we will not return . Place was not clean and there were fruit flies all over , landing on our food and on our drinks too

Disappointed that they changed the style of this eatery. We gave the new place a try but the dumplings menu was not very expansive or good in quality, they seemed to be freezer to table. Enjoyed talking to the new manager Daniel who has big hopes to create an exciting place and with good food I Believe he has a great start. The name of the place is deceiving now but is worth a good experience.

This was hands-down THE best dumplings and dim sum we have found on LI. We went to eat there with a group of 4 so we were able to sample many of the dim sum and a few specialty dishes. The dumplings rivaled what we had in Shanghai - perfectly seasoned, moist and light. Everything was flavorful, cooked to perfection and had us wanting more. We always try a fan favorite (General Tso's Chicken) whenever we try someplace new and this did not disappoint! The soup dumplings, chicken dumplings, and vegetable dumplings were all beautifully done, delicious and spiced right. We even tried the Green Tea Sesame Balls which was new to us on the recommendation of our server. We all found that tasty and different and would order it again.

We are already planning our second visit as there's more on the menu to explore.

The restaurant was not busy, but don't let that fool you. They recently closed and reopened to feature Dumplings and Wok foods. You can still get Hot Pot and BBQ at their other locations. All I can say is don't pass up on this place. It's a real gem!

The food was okay, just another typical American Chinese food establishment. It was a little strange that they advertised themselves as a dumpling house but had a small selection of dumplings. They had Thai food and Chinese food, but no real theme, just a mix of different Asian foods. We wanted to give you a chance anyway.

It was kind of sad seeing how lively the place used to be compared to how empty it was now. It was dead for a Saturday at 6 p.m.

We wish you had asked your loyal customers who were there every day instead of the minority of people if they wanted you to change. Hopefully, you will consider switching back and listening to the people who actually enjoyed the way you were before the switch to BBQ/Shabu.

So I regularly go to the bay shore location and was excited when I saw there was a location closer to me. I spent money on an Uber just to try to make the lunch hour to be disappointed upon my arrival. They don't currently offer BBQ or hotpot despite the BBQ still currently in the name. I absolutely love this place and the food but I was a bit upset to see the BBQ gone with no warning online. I am excited to go when the renovations are complete I hope everything goes well.

Service is top noch. My server Julia was incredibly nice and patient. The food was amazing as well and I didn’t have to wait long for it either. The songs being played in the background were cool to.

Came here for my birthday and WOW, what a great decision! Lory guided us through it all and totally went above and beyond! She made sure our infant was comfortable and safe so that we can finally have a night out to enjoy our meal. The food was fresh and tasty (we had the BBQ), and the service was PHENOMENAL. I could not ask for more. We will be back!

Such a fun dining experience for something different to do! The food was very good and the staff was helpful. The bar area is so nice and cocktails are delicious!

Went for lunch and had the korean bbq+hot pot. The meats and the vegetables were fresh and the foods that we ordered came out quickly. They had so many options and you can make your own sauce that you can dip your hot pot items in. Would definitely like to go again!

Other than the 15 minute wait to have our server greet us and take drink orders, our dinner was OK.

Lia has been my server 3 times before and she never disappoints, she's always there when we need her and her attitude is just fantastic. The food also never disappoints, I order multiple orders the spicy chicken every time and it's always better than the last. I bring all my friends and family here because of how fantastic this place is.

We are lucky to have and excellent BBQ and hot pot place close to us. We have been here several times. We always get amazing, prompt service (David is awesome). The food is great: vegetables are crisp and perfect, meat is fresh and Delicious. We have done both the BBQ and shabu shabu and enjoy them both very much. I vary the broth and recommend the herbal, but they're all good. If you are new to the experience, the staff will help you control the heat of the pot and grill. I love the shumai, dry bean curd , tofu puffs, beef tongue, fatty beef, bok choy, and more. It's fun and engaging. The sauces at the table are delicious, I love both the pear and the one like Sriracha. I make my own sauce at the bar too. The ice cream at the end is actually so good!

This is a pay one price for the bbq and additional for both bbq &hot pot. It's fun, but honestly the 90 min limit stresses me. I like to eat slow and enjoy when I go out. Since I already tried the Smithtown one, we tried this location as well. At least Commack explained that you can get the bbq and a choice of about 8 already hot prepared appt type foods. It's a fun place to go for a special night, but its a bit pricy about 40 pp without drinks for bbq only.

I was very excited to try out this new location with my cousin. But I was very much disappointed with this experience. I have been to another location, thats located in Bayshore to find out they also have a time limit as well. The food is always good, and I always tell everyone to come and try it out. But after today I don't think I will come back because they have a 90 minute time limit and we were literally asked to leave and pay the bill and because I still had food on the grill our waiter asked for our tip which I gave him at the end as I was leaving. I don't like to be rushed while eating and asked if we are done because our time is almost up. I was trying to have a nice experience with family. Our waiter kept telling us how there was a time limit and was reminding us how many minutes we had left till we had to leave then he came back to us to tell us we had to leave and he also didn't tell us we had to pay for refills for our soda which is fine but I think the waiter/waitresses should let their customers know so we could be aware of that which I had to chug down because we were rushed out and it was given to me late. Our waiter was nice, but again, I did not like being rushed out of there. Very disappointed as I LOVE going to JBBQ and recommend to everyone I know to go, but this experience was definitely disappointing and now that I know there is a time limit, unfortunately, I won't be coming back. They should take away that time limit, especially in a place where you have to cook your own food and you're trying to enjoy your time with friends and family. Just a kind suggestion.

If you feel like listening to managers/upper staff scream and berate waiters all night long, than going here isn’t the place for you. The service was 5 star, our waiter was awesome but the way managers speak to their workers just sets the place to a different vibe. What a great experience! The concept is really good, very interactive which we have to cook our food but our server always help us out with smile. Good for big parties, they handled us very well. Yikes!!! This place had us running to the bathroom- we even saw a girl in the bathroom throwing up!! Not only that but there were bugs found in the vegetables that we had to send back twice. I’m not sure what went wrong in their food but I’d avoid this place. The waiter was not very friendly either, and not many food options for hot pot. Unfortunately we won’t be returning.

Starting with the bugs found on the vegetables, we won’t be visiting this restaurant again. We had to send back 2 orders of bok choy because of this. Additionally our whole group had to run to the bathroom after. Terrible stomach pains and heard another person in there vomiting. We’re not sure what triggered this in the food, but nonetheless we were all affected by the food in a negative way. The serving wasn’t very enthusiastic and not many menu options. Overall not a great option for hot spot.

Maybe I didn’t pick the right sauce. The broth for the hotpot didn’t have that much flavor. The service was great though. I might try them again in the future.

We had a group of 10 on Sunday night and they gave us the private room. Our servers were very attentive, and the food was top quality. Very clean environment with nice ambience and decorations. Highly recommended.

This place rocks. The hot pot is delicious but the hot appetizers are just as good.

Update:we visited the new Commack location. Excellent. Actually the situation of the bar allows for a lm open good time and they have private sections for private parties. A do not miss place

Yikes. I’ll admit we did not realize we’d have to cook the food by ourselves, which was inconvenient due to lack of plates, utensils, etc, but it was compounded due to the lack of staff providing such upon request. Ordering marinated or spicy meats with fresh meats, they do not change the grills so it just chars up even if the fresh is cooked first. The food was surprisingly bland, even the marinated and spicy meats. The meat was not top grade by a long shot, frankly it is definitely not a place we’ll be going again. Some of the staff was super friendly, so I feel bad leaving this review, but imho folks should have an idea of what they’re signing up for prior to arrival!

The same owner of all the jbbq place is new and still need to be as fast as the Smithtown one the first order of soup and stuff came about 15 minutes after u order and was still missing the spring rolls and the wings had to ask for her to check other then that is like the one in Smithtown expect they use real plastic drink cup not like smith town where they use the red solo cups for soda 🥤 lol

If you’re a lover of feasting on all you can eat meats and appetizers and don’t mind cooking them yourself (which is part of the experience if you ask me) then this is the place to go to. Can’t wait to go back!

Wonderful place for food. Love it. BBQ plus hot pot.

This place is fantastic, and probably the best of their locations. The meat quality is great, especially the beef (I wouldn't recommended the chashu pork). The dessert bar with fresh fruit (pineapple and watermelon) and the ice cream bar (hershey's cups) are quite delightful and really help balance out the meal.

Wanted to try this place so bad and so happy I did!!

The food was so delicious, meats were marinated perfectly, I tried the Thai iced tea and I had to go for seconds, so good!
There’s so much variety on what to pick for your broth from meats to vegetables to seafood and more!
You can either choose to do hot pot or bbq or both!
Our waitress Amanda was amazing, she explained everything throughly and gave us the best service!
We will definitely be coming back!!

My family and I just checked out the new JBBQ location in Commack. What an amazing experience. The wait staff was so attentive and helpful. There is so much variety of what to grill. We had angus and hanger steak, marinated chicken, several types of pork, shrimp, mussels, sweet potato, onion, mushrooms, and broccoli. The food was absolutely delicious and my kids really loved being able to grill it right at our seats. There is a sauce bar and dessert bar with fruit and ice cream that's complementary. What an incredibly interactive and enjoyable dining experience. I will definitely be back with my family!

Our waitress was great. The back kitchen not so much, 30 mins into our meal and no meat came. People come to hot pot and bbq for meat, not just vegetables. What is the purpose of bringing out noodles and vegetables but no meat? Am I supposed to stare at it? I ate all of it and was already full by the time the meat came, I’m not sure if it’s their system but there’s something wrong with bringing out everything but no meat and asking numerous times where the ordered meat was. It was nice of them to refund my meal but this is still an unpleasant experience overall.
