Had a great time having lunch here😋 Very delicious, exquisite and distinctive Thai cuisine. For the appetizer I recommend the shrimp donuts, which are amazing with the sauce, the crispy crust and rich taste are perfect. Aromatic and fragrant pineapple fried rice, rice grains are distinct, every bite is filled with the sweetness of pineapple, the refreshing taste of vegetables and the aroma of nuts.
Both visually appealing and delicious, this is not just food, but warm Thai style❤️
We had a lovely dinner at RUA Thai which has a chic interior highlighting the floating markets in Thailand. There’s a variety of nonalcoholic drinks and cocktails which were garnished to perfection. Attention to detail is clearly a priority here! We ordered the appetizer sampler with my favorite being the fried chicken wings which were crispy, juicy and had a nice spicy kick. They have all the classic noodles and curry dishes but also a whole page of Chefs Specials if you are looking to change it up! The clay pot fried rice had a flavorful sausage which was delicious and the Mama Tom Yum Grilled River Prawns has a wow factor.
LOVE! We came in on a whim on Valentine's Day with no reservations and was seated right away. My husband and I got engaged in Thailand and are always craving a taste back from our trip. This restaurant hit the spot – the apps, main course, dessert and drinks were so delicious we left our plates empty!
Rua Thai might just be the best Thai food I’ve ever had. Some dishes were absolute standouts, while a couple fell a bit short—but overall, it was a meal to remember.
The shrimp donut was dangerously addictive—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with flavor. The Penang curry was rich and sweet, with such a perfect balance of flavors it felt almost drinkable, like a warm, comforting broth.
The mango sticky rice stole the show. The rice had a delicate, almost intoxicating flavor and the perfect soft texture, while the mango was perfectly ripe and sweet. Together, they created a dessert that felt truly special.
The rice noodles, however, didn’t quite hit the mark. The texture leaned a little mushy, and the flavor lacked the smoky, distinct quality I wanted. The steak was well-prepared but under-seasoned, leaving it a bit flat compared to the other dishes.
This is amazing Thai food. The atmosphere is so calming and the food never disappoints. We tried three appetizers (crab rangoon, wings, and fries) the papaya salad, clay pot rice and pad see yu. We enjoyed every single dish and the mocktail had quality fruit in it. Happy this is close to home.
Had dinner at Rua Thai in Brooklyn, and it was a really enjoyable experience. The cozy vibe made it feel super inviting, perfect for a relaxed evening. The prawn noodles were absolutely delicious--so flavorful and perfectly cooked. The duck crepe was another standout, rich and packed with flavor. The larp fries were incredible. I loved the seasoning on it. The branzino was delicious. We love fried fish. The thai iced tea was super tasty as well.
I do wish they had mango sticky rice, though--it would've been the perfect way to wrap up the meal. Service was fine, but it seemed like just one person was handling everything. Despite that, I'd definitely go back for the great food and ambiance!
We had such a delightful experience here!
The shrimp donuts are an absolute must-try! They're perfectly crunchy on the outside, soft in the middle, and paired beautifully with the sweet and tangy chili sauce.
The duck crepes were equally delicious. The crepes were light and airy, and the smoky-sweet flavor profile was so unique and satisfying.
We loved the drinks too! The butterfly pea soda was incredibly refreshing and complemented the meal perfectly. The color-changing lemonade was a magical touch--watching the colors change added so much fun to the experience!
The steak was cooked to perfection, with a sauce that delivered a beautiful blend of umami and a subtle hint of spice.
The mama tom yum dish was a standout! Imagine a tom yum noodle soup transformed into a stir-fry--it absorbed all the bold, spicy, and tangy flavors of the soup. The dish had just the right amount of spice, and the river prawns, which looked like mini lobsters, added a special touch.
To finish, the mango sticky rice was stunningly presented and absolutely delicious. The mangoes were incredibly juicy and sweet--truly the perfect ending to our meal.
The portion sizes were generous, and we left feeling completely satisfied. We visited on Christmas Eve, and the cozy ambiance and festive playlist made it feel so homely. This is definitely a great spot for a date night, especially if you want to enjoy amazing food while having a good conversation.
Lastly, a special shoutout to our server, who was so attentive and made sure our water glasses were always full.
Highly recommended!
Great thai food in the area. Love the som tum salad and im glad that they let me take my stroller into the restaurant.
Terrible experience. More than 15 tables but only 2 waitresses. I made a reservation at 6:15 but wait more than 20 minutes to be seated . The 2 waitresses were too busy to talk to anyone. So I wait another 10 minutes to get the opportunity to order our food.
The dining experience at RUA was fantastic! The food was fresh and flavorful, with every dish perfectly prepared. The service was attentive and friendly, making us feel truly welcome. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, creating a great atmosphere for a meal. I would definitely recommend this place and look forward to coming back!
Had the spring rolls and massaman curry, very delicious absolute stunning atmosphere and the service was wonderful. Highly recommend.
Everything was amazing , the staff was very welcoming and made sure dinner was excellent!

The reviews are definitely warranted. Extraordinary service and food quality. The atmosphere is also very cozy and relaxing.
Pad Thai here is delicious and delightful, definitely recommend it
the food was very good, i enjoyed my time 😊.

Very vibey! On a weeknight, it seems like the move is to eat Thai food alone. Frankly, I love that for me and my fellow longer patrons. Nice music, warm, random chandelier, low light. Vibes! I had the mango avocado salad and the tofu pad Thai, and the tofu was some of the funnest I’ve had! Delicious all around. I can’t speak to authenticity, and if you’re a strict vegetarian I wouldn’t doubt that fish sauce made its way into both dishes, but I look the other way. Because again, it’s delicious. Very glad it’s in the neighborhood.
Lovely food and great service! I would recommend the place
Delicious!!!! Had their tofu pad Thai. Love their style and decor too. Will be back!!🤩
Awful food and drinks. I was so disappointed.
Delicious and filling lunch special! Would highly recommend.
For drinks we had the refreshing Color Changing Lemonade (cocktail) and the sweet Floating Market cocktail. Their food is flavorful, authentic and delicious. We had the Duck Crepes and Larb Wings for appetizers. Both went above and beyond in flavor. For main course we had the Crying Tiger and Colassal Crab Fried Rice. Superb! There was crab meat in each bite. The Coconut Crustard was so good.

I’d first like to start off with how beautiful and cozy the ambiance is! I went at a time that was less busy, which allowed me and my boyfriend to eat in a space that was peaceful and cozy! Our server was a sweetheart, very kind and made sure we received everything and were doing fine overall.
The friend wings was so so flavorful and crispy! My boyfriend ate the whole thing and I only had one! 😂
The fried cheese wontons were very delicious, crispy and packed with enough filling!
The veggie stir fry with chicken was delicious, though it could have been a tad bit more seasoned. Overall still a delicious dish
The ribeye with blue jasmine rice was incredible! And the sauce paired with it was amazing!
Lastly, the coconut custard dessert was delicious!
I would definitely come back! Another restaurant added to my return list- follow my ig for the full video: iiamjvs

The food and drinks were amazing. I suggest the chicken and shrimp dumpling for an appetizer if you like curr.
Rua Thai lives up to its reputation—delicious, filling, and full of authentic Thai flavors. Every bite felt like a journey into the heart of Thai culture. The shrimp donuts & Tom Yum noodles were my favorite 💛 However, the drinks were a bit too sweet for my taste 🍜🍽️

This is a good Thai restaurant. The atmosphere is casual and intimate, with cute decor. The menu is very creative and modern. The Shrimp Donut is a highlight, simply delicious. It's a good option for Thai food in Brooklyn.
Don’t come to RUA Thai and NOT order the chicken and shrimp curry dumplings and shrimp donuts as appetizers! I also really loved the mama tom yum grilled river prawns, just make sure you squeeze lime all over the noodles to really enhance the flavors! The fried chicken and roti was also good. The chicken looked dry but was actually tender and the roti was unlike any roti I’ve ever had before, it had a slight sweet/nutty flavor that I wasn’t expecting but enjoyed and it was very soft.
Highly recommend and the prices and portions are great!

I loved all the soothing songs they were playing and definitely the food was amazing! I been to Thailand and I know how Thai food tastes I got the authentic taste of Thailand in that restaurant. They have halal chicken options so plus point for all the halal girlies!! One appetizer called ‘larb gai wrap’ the taste still sticks in my mouth 🤤!!
Did a girls night out here and it did not disappoint. The decor is so so pretty and inspired by the floating markets in thailand made it feel so cozy on a cold fall night. The food and drinks were to DIE for!!!
* Tom Ka Za: a take on the classic coconut base soup was so tropical and creamy highly recommend trying
* Watermelon: super refeshing and light was perfect to pair with some of the heavier dishes
* Calamari: was sooo yummy!! super crispy battered squid with a tangy sweet sauce was to die for
* Shrimp Donuts: very crispy crunchy and sooo well seasoned and was JAM PACKED with shrimp. am picky about my seafood but this did not disappoint
* Duck Yaowarat: this dish was a family recipe and truly did not disappoint. the duck was tender and flavorful with a lovely mushroom sauce that felt both clean and savory. would highly recommend!!!
* Kai Tod Hat Yai: first time trying thai style fried chicken and it was so good. it had a delicious curry broth and roti similar to a roti canai paired with yummy flavorful fried chicken. was pleasantly surprised by this twist on fried chicken.
* Coconut Pudding: a perfect end to a heavy meal these were light and creamy without being too sweet.
Cannot recommend this place enough for the next time you’re looking for a great thai meal in brooklyn.
We came here for lunch. We had the lunch special, which was very filling as you get an appetizer of your choice plus salad and entree and a side of shrimp donuts. Loved the shrimp donuts and crispy chicken basil fried rice. Loved the strawberry guava fizz drink. Service was good and food came out quick but was lukewarm so I took off one star.

I’m sure this place is fine but as an asian person who used to live in queens and frequently ate at some of the best thai restaurants in the city…. The curry is sadly very watery and bland. Not very authentic. :/
The soup was okay.
Rua Thai in Brooklyn is hands down one of the best Thai spots I've ever visited! I went for lunch while in New York, and I still find myself craving their dishes. The colossal crab fried rice served in a coconut shell was out-of-this-world flavorful, something you don't come across at just any Thai restaurant.
The coconut pudding dessert is a must-try, especially when it's warm, and their crab rangoon wasn't just cute in shape—it packed a serious flavor punch! We also had the fried fish, which was phenomenal, and the sample platter is perfect if you're feeling indecisive. Trust me, it's worth ordering even if you're dining solo; just eat what you can and take the rest home, it makes a delicious snack later.
The drink menu is worth exploring too, whether you're into cocktails or mocktails. I can't wait to go back and try more!
This has been the worse experience I’ve had at any restaurant that I’ve gone to.The food had no flavor, it wasn’t well done, there was no follow up at the table, and to top it off the waitress wasn’t welcoming at all she had an attitude.I was left very unsatisfied.
I was blown away by our wok dishes and curry dish. They were unique and perfectly seasoned. I will crave this place weekly.
We had a great Sunday evening at RUA Thai in Brooklyn NY! The venue was small and intimate. Our appetizers included Spring Rolls & Larb wings. The wings were delicious, well seasoned, and cooked to a crisp. We decided on the Coconut Mojito & Spicy Mango Margarita. Both drinks were extremely refreshing and beautifully decorated. Our main course included the Chicken Pad Thai & Mango chicken. The portions were large and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. For dessert we had coconut custard . We hope to return again soon.
RUA Thai serves up a remarkable dining experience right in Brooklyn. I started with their Shrimp Donuts, a delightful surprise, crispy on the outside with a tender shrimp filling, by far my favorite. The Creamy Tom Yum with Chicken was rich and well-spiced. For mains, the Mama Tom Yum Grilled River Prawns noodles were outstanding. Another main, the Pla Tod Numpla, featured crispy branzino with a delectably tangy sauce.
To drink, the Elderflower Paradise was a refreshing blend of gin and elderflower, while the Butterfly Pea Lychee Soda was not only a visual treat but also delightfully refreshing. I ended my meal with a classic Mango Coconut Sticky Rice, the perfect balance of sweetness and texture.
I highly recommend this place! Normally I start with the review and then I decide to recommend it but this place is different! We absolutely loved the place, the service was fantastic, plenty of choices, and everything was super delicious and big portions, and the prices were very reasonable!
Plenty of indoor dining and very clean and inviting place!
Found hidden gems Thai restaurant on Smith street in Brooklyn. The ambiance is so nice, I felt like I was at floating market in Thailand. I did try a few dishes. My favorite was Fish with mango salad so delicious. Also can’t forget to mention the drinks. It was amazing meal.
I loved all the house specials that I had, they were rich, tasty, and the presentation was fun. I like tiger shrimp a lot, and the crispy chicken in the khao soi is delicious. The wraps are very filling and crammed with fresh vegetables. The som tum der was tasty, but it wasn't as stinky as it's often served in Thailand and in other NYC restaurants. The food is decidedly not spicy here, but it's still flavorful.
I really enjoyed dining at Rua Thai. Everything I ate there was so delicious, and the plates were great portions . I also loved the beautiful atmosphere there and relaxing aesthetic. I had the :
Coconut Mojito
Crab Rangoon
Calamari
Pineapple Seafood Fried Rice
Coconut Crab Fried Rice
Fried Banana With Honey
My favorite was the Pineapple seafood fried rice it had Shrimp, Squid and Muscles all in a delicious sweet pineapple. It’s the perfect place for a nice relaxing lunch or dinner I highly recommend RUA Thai Restaurant.
Amazing food and drinks
Definitely one of the best Thai places in the neighborhood. I've enjoyed the green curry, pad see yu & udon kee mao. Need to try their shrimp donuts next.
Absolutely delicious! Great atmosphere, great food, and good prices. Definitely recommend the Crying Tiger. Also a great spot to take a cute picture :) This is my second time going here and will definitely be back!
Had a lovely experience at Rua. We were a party of 3 and service was great. Thoroughly enjoyed the dishes we ordered but the clay pot rice stood out. It was so delicious be sure to try it out!
The food here is absolutely delicious! I recommend coming during happy hour and then eating dinner here! They also have great lunch specials which comes with an entree and an appetizer!
Bought delivery and the experience was smooth and delicious!
Absolutely delicious!!
inspired by 🇹🇭’s floating market cuisines - bustling with flavor! Located in the Cobble Hill neighborhood & Offering a mix of traditional & contemporary thai dishes from street food to spicy ramen, everything on the menu is worth a try! - restaurant open daily 11:30 AM - 10:30 PM with happy hour from 3-6pm..
what I tried:
Drinks:
Lychee by the sea 🌊
Spiked Thai Iced Milk Tea 🧋
Appetizers:
Duck crepes - the roti was so light & airy, flavored with lemon grass and ginger!
Fried Calamari - the crisp is key & the dipping sauce? *😚kiss*
Entree:
Crying Tiger 🐯 or Sua Rong Hai ✨ - flavorful and spicy grilled beef ribeye. The name comes from the traditional belief that the dish is so spicy, a tiger would cry! flavor profile will send you 😍🤪😵💫 fish sauce, lime, chili, smoked meat!
Mama Tom Yum 🦐✨ - combining the flavor of tom yum soup, grilled river prawns and the famous mama instant noodles, your hit with the perfect sweet & sour blend.
Dessert:
🥭ango sticky rice ✨
sweet, savory, comforting 🫶🏼
10/10 experience - atmosphere, food & staff is all worth it!
Inspired by the concept of floating market, Rua Thai instantly transports us to Thailand. The interior isn’t overly decorated. It’s cozy to sit by the window to enjoy their authentic street market food and sunshine on a warm day.
*Fried Calamari***
The fried calamari really shines on its own! Tender calamari coated with golden crispy layer and bits of salted egg yolk. The seafood mayo dip was too delicious that we had to ask for more. Finger-licking good.
*Shrimp Donuts*
These donut-shaped shrimp cakes were generously stuffed with shrimp paste. The shrimp filling was bouncy and well seasoned. Heavenly with the sweet chili sauce.
*Mama Tom Yum Grilled River Prawns
The signature sautéed tom yum noodles served in a Mama cup. 100% insta-worthy presentation. It had pieces of stir-fried prawns and a grilled prawn. The latter was overcooked. The noodle texture was indeed very good, yet I expected more seafood flavors from the seasoning. A pricey entree for what it was.
*Colossal Crab Fried Rice w. Crab Rangoon
Very fancy to serve the fried rice in a coconut shell with overflowing amount of crab meat. The fried rice tasted quite bland on its own, though the seafood mayo on the side gave much depth in flavors and spiced up the dish.
It came with two pieces of crab rangoon. Highly recommend getting the rangoon for app. The crabmeat cream cheese filling surprised me.
*Coconut Custard*
This custard pudding is a less heavy variation of sticky rice. Stretchy and thick texture. Served hot. A not-too-sweet option to finish off the meal.
*Elderflower Paradise (cocktail), Butterfly Pea Lychee Soda, Color Changing Lemonade
Drinks are pretty and not too sweet. The elderflower paradise is their new cocktail with strawberry juice and cucumber. Very refreshing in summer. Their drinks are good but not very impressive.
Great lunch special! The panang curry and spring rolls were both delicious (some of the best I've had in the area), and my friend's pad thai got rave reviews as well. Definitely recommend!
I love Thai food and couldn't wait to endulge. When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked into a cozy restaurant. I was served by Patty and Mint. I started with the smoke on Smith's drink, and it was good! I also had a glass of red wine. For my appetizer, I got the curry dumplings a dn that was very tasty! For my meal, I got the Mama Tom Yum Grilled River Prawns, and that was delicious! I also had the Colossal Crab Fried Rice, and that was tasty as well. I really enjoyed the food at this restaurant!
This restaurant is so cute and has lots to offer. If you’re into Thai food, this is one of the best spots you should try. The staff is very attentive and very knowledgeable.
We ordered:
-mango avocado salad
-roti canai
-thai ice tea
-butterfly pea lychee soda
-color changing lemonade
-mama Tom yum
-pla tod numpla
-duck Yaowarat
-mango sticky rice
All of these i would Recommend!
Got delivery. Food came quickly and was tasty.
First time here, to celebrate a birthday. Service was OK. Food was disappointing; I had the duck whick was over cooked, very dry. Pineapple Fried rice was terrible.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Rua Thai is the perfect spot for a romantic date night in Brooklyn! The aesthetic and decor are minimal and classy but very chic, creating a cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere. 🌿✨ The drinks were unique and strong – we tried the Smoke on the Smith, Coconut Mojito, and Watermelon Mojito, and each one was delicious and refreshing. 🍹
For appetizers, we went with the Appetizer Sampler Set, which included grilled chicken satay (one of my Thai favorites!), larb wings, dumplings, and cheesy crab rangoon. Everything was so well-seasoned and flavorful. For dinner, my date had the Duck Yaowarat and I had the Crying Tiger – both dishes were generously portioned and absolutely delicious. The purple and pink rice was a fun twist, although it tasted like regular rice. 🍛🍗
Parking was surprisingly easy to find, which is always a bonus in Brooklyn. The only thing I wish for is more dessert options. I didn't get to try any, but my date chose the coconut custard and loved it. 🥥
Overall, Rua Thai offers an exceptional dining experience that is perfect for a romantic night out. Can't wait to go back! 💕

I've been wanting to try this place for a while. It was worth the wait. It's a small place but it's comfortable. The decor is simple but very pretty. The service is good. The prices are very reasonable. I had the Shrimp Donuts and the were 😋. The drinks are good. They have a good happy hour. The atmosphere is relaxed. I would definitely come back and try some other dishes.
this spot is tucked away in Brooklyn and it’s absolutely delicious. it’s a modern thai spot inspired by the floating markets in thailand. the presentation was on point. my crab fried rice literally came in a coconut. to end the meal, the mango sticky rice is a must! can’t wait to come back and try the other dishes!
Sooooo good! My 9 year old’s go-to😋😋😋
The best thai food I tried in Brooklyn! Beautiful restaurant, very calm and quiet. Drinks were stunning and also so delicious. We got watermelon margaritas. Everything else was super fresh and portions were giant! We had to pack it to go! Very friendly and fast service. Definitely will come back
Great Thai restaurant in Brooklyn!
Rua Thai in Brooklyn, New York City offers an enticing culinary journey through Thai cuisine. The ambiance sets the stage for an authentic experience, while the diverse menu ensures there's something for every palate.
Starting with the drinks, the mojito and changing color lemonade sound refreshing and innovative, complementing the vibrant flavors of Thai cuisine. The shrimp donut and curry dumplings serve as delightful appetizers, showcasing the chef's creativity and skill in blending traditional Thai flavors with modern twists.
Moving on to the main course, the salmon and noodles dish sounds like a perfect balance of protein and carbs, infused with aromatic Thai spices and herbs. The combination promises a satisfying and flavorful meal.
Ending on a sweet note with the coconut pudding dessert adds a touch of indulgence to the dining experience. The creamy texture of the pudding combined with the tropical flavor of coconut makes for a delightful conclusion to the meal.
Overall, Rua Thai seems like a must-visit destination for Thai food enthusiasts in Brooklyn, offering a delightful array of dishes that tantalize the taste buds and leave a lasting impression.
When I say that I love this place! Me and a best foodie friend of mine came to RUA a couple of weeks back and had a TIME!
Our server was incredible, not knot was she the sweetest thing ever she gave some really great suggestions on drinks and dessert.
I’m vegan and my girl friend and I ordered food together. Although she’s not vegan she opted in to share two vegan appetizers, two vegan entrees, and one shared dessert.
I am a Thai food feign! And not every plan offers alternatives to their protein options.
Now, don’t get me wrong, as a vegan I LOVE me some vegetables. But sometimes I’m looking for another flavor profile or texture and it’s a bummer when they don’t have it.
NOT HERE! RUA had EVERYTHING!
Not only did they have vegetables options, they had an option for Tofu, Mock Duck, AND Vegan Shrimp!
This is the ONLY Thai restaurant I’ve ever been to so far in the U.S. (out of Cali, NY, GA, FL, or Massachusetts!) that serves Vegan Shrimp.
Vegan shrimp is usually made from a fruit called Konjac, which is a plant, that when cooked, truly mimics the texture and visual aesthetic of shrimp.
In the end, we ordered
Veggie Spring rolls (my all time favorite)
Fried Tofu
Red Curry with Mock Duck (literally so delicious!)
Pad Thai with Vegan Shrimp
and sticky Mango Rice
And as two sober baddies! We opted in for their Butterfly Pea Lychee Soda (SO FREAKING YUMMY) and their Strawberry Guava Fizz
CHEF’S KISS!!
I had went to this lovely restaurant and the first thing that had impressed me was the lovely staff. I was here with my sister and her baby and they had graciously asked us if we needed a high chair for her child. I thought this was super sweet because every restaurant I have gone to they never ask but instead wait for you to do so. That alone was enough for me to have a high bar for high expectation of this place and the service here. They even set up the chair well and asked if they could place my sisters carriage in a safer place. They were very polite and were very concerned with us having a good experience. Everything felt very natural and nothing seemed forced or of negative energy at all. Besides their kindness they wasn't rushing us to order and even would tell us to take our time and let us get settled in to our table first with drinks of water. Once we were ready they handed us menus and walked away and let us have our time in deciding what drinks to get and what appetizer we wanted to have. Once me and her decided on both minutes later they kindly gave us our drinks. I had the butterfly pea lychee soda something I have never tried out before and was delighted by it. The taste was sweet for sure but nothing overwhelming or too much. I loved seeing how the drink changed color as well it was a fun sight. My sister had the strawberry guava and she did let me try it and I can say that one was delicious as well. Yes a bit more on the sour side but nothing unbearable I feel it balanced well with the strawberry. Later on we got our appetizers and to my pleasure the crab rangoon was scrumptious and in my opinion the best I have ever had. They were very cheesy and so savory and the shrimp doughnuts I had were over the moon good. I highly enjoyed those being a shrimp lover and a doughnut lover it was a perfect combo. Lastly we had chose our main meals and had gotten mango chicken with sticky rice and collosal crab fried rice with more crab rangoon. These two meals were delicious and of a portion so great I couldn't finish all my rice and had to take it home. Honestly I was stuffed from the appetizers but more then happy with what I got. Overall this restaurant is wonderful with nice decor and a lot of food and drink options. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves thai or just wants to try something new out for decent prices.
This is a great place for a lunch date. The staffs were friendly and we had a great time. We highly recommended their Shrimp Donuts appetizer and Mama Tom Yum Grilled River Prawn. Their color changing lemonade is so fun and refreshing! You can also order the watermelon soju to share.
Hands down one of the most authentic Thai restaurants I’ve been to in NYC with affordable prices. Everything was amazing and fresh, the kitchen was able to accommodate my allergies, and the cocktails were very innovative while being $14, without happy hour.
Super pretty place !! I ordered the drunken noodles and they did not disappoint!! It was absolutely delicious and full of flavor
I also had the fried tofu and wings which were PHENOMENAL!! The wings have a spicy tangy flavor which I’ve never had before and now I’m addicted!! Great drinks especially during happy hour we love this place now
The food was absolutely absolutely amazing and so tasteful. The service was also so great and they were very accommodating and helpful explaining the menu to us. The ambience inside is also absolutely gorgeous and so medically pleasing! I highly recommend getting the crab rangoon, it was SOOO good!
DON’T LET THE HIGH RATING REVIEWS FOOL YOU!! I went in this restaurant because of the high rating reviews. But I was really speechless of the bad quality food. The Crying Tiger was WELL-DONE steak with a lot of chewy tendons. They charged almost $30 for this steak but gave you a low quality piece of meet. When I asked the waitress if they served Crying Tiger well-done all the time. She said “ Yes” without any explanation. The shrimp was right out of the frozen fridge. You can even taste the fridge taste. We also had calamari that was as hard as rock. And everything is super spicy. I agree that Thai food is well-known of its spicy. But when I only tasted spicy of all our order, it is not pleasant anymore. We went to another Thai restaurant on Court street is spicy but not unbearable. Pictures look good but not taste good at all!
I was invited to try Rua Thai in Brooklyn and enjoyed the experience. No only were the food and drinks good, they were beautifully presented. Our server/bartender Bas was super nice and helpful with the menu and and definitely made our time a pleasant one. This place is def worth checking out!
"Absolutely stellar experience]! From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy ambiance. The menu boasted a diverse selection of authentic Thai dishes, each bursting with vibrant flavors and fresh ingredients. The Pad Thai was a standout, perfectly balanced with tangy tamarind and crunchy peanuts. The service was impeccable, with staff going above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction. Can't wait to return and explore more of their delicious offerings!"
I am a HUGE fan of Thai food and was excited when I came across another Thai place in Brooklyn.
Firstly, the atmosphere is beautiful and super zen. With friendly and attentive staff.
Secondly, we are not big alcohol drinkers so thankfully they had mocktail options, and I mean look how pretty these butterfly pea soda and lemonade drinks are 😍.
Thirdly, THE FOOD. We couldn’t decide an appetizer so we ordered the app. sampler, and let me start off by saying it was the first time I sever tried crab Rangoon (pictured bottom right corner of third photo), and I was blown away by how YUMMY that bite was. Our second pic from the app. sampler was the fried chicken. I promise it’s not like regular fried chicken, every bite was filled with different spices.
For the main entrees we ordered the Mama Tom Grilled Prawn and pineapple seafood fried rice and it did not disappoint! Our fav ofc was the Grilled Prawn noodles 😋
Looking forward to visiting when the weather clears up to enjoy more of those cheesy crab Rangoon’s!!
The food was absolutely delicious. I loved the shrimp donuts it was so unexpected and innovative. And the presentation of everything was gorgeous. We went during the lunch hour and it was quiet and everything came out hot and fresh. I’d deff return.
New York's got this knack for hiding gems, and stumbling upon Rua Thai in Brooklyn was like hitting the jackpot for this Thai food lover! It was a super cute spot with affordable dishes.
I mean, seriously, their menu had me drooling over every dish—I wanted it all! After some serious contemplation about what to get, here's what I dove into:
Shrimp Donuts - omg these were really filling and tasty
cheesy crab rangoon - def addicting, i wanted more!!
Watermelon Soju - this was served in half a watermelon and it’s good for sharing
Pla Tod Numpla - crispy whole branzino with a side of thai salad and blue butterfly pea jasmine rice
Colossal Crab Fried Rice - it’s called colossal for a reason! Super generous servings. Plus it came with a side of crab rangoon
Mango Coconut Sticky Rice - def dont miss out on this!!
Let me tell you, it was a feast fit for a king! I couldn't get enough of those shrimp donuts and crab rangoon—seriously addictive stuff. And the portions? Massive! Perfect for sharing with friends.
Plus, the staff were as friendly as can be, making the whole experience even better. Definitely gonna be back for more of that tasty Thai goodness!
This is really heartfelt prepared food. Not just about who’s cooking line but somebody’s really in charge. Great job.
More people should know about this Thai restaurant!
The watermelon cocktail was fresh, naturally sweet.
If you don’t know what to order go for the snack platter. It includes juicy siu mai, classic satay chicken, cheesy crab rangoon, crunchy fried wings.
The crispy whole Branzino, so good! Paired with mango salad and colorful sticky rice. The fish was incredibly flavorful with a nice snappy texture.
Massaman curry was rich and fragrant, generously loaded with beef
Even stir-fry veggies were crunchy and flavorful
Wonderful new Thai Restaurant in the neighborhood!
I was invited to check out Rua Thai and the neighborhood is nice the restaurant is so cute. I really liked the decor and the service was great. Every dish was full of flavor and really delicious they also have a great selection of vegan items and great drinks. I would definitely return.
RUA Thai in Brooklyn, NY. “Rua” means rowboat in Thai and @ruathainyc Modern Thai Inspired by Floating Market Cuisine located in Cobble Hill Brooklyn! Chef Kornpon Theeraumpornkul grew up in Ratchaburi, Thailand and brings all of the flavors to Brooklyn! The Tom Ka Za Cocktail was one of the most unique cocktails I’ve ever had-based off my favorite soup, Tom Kha Gai Soup. The vibe was so fun-perfect for a girls night or date night! The service was amazing too! Insta: @thehungrysw

This restaurant is absolutely amazing! The presentation of each dish is beautiful and the food tastes even better than it looks… which is hard! The service was great and super quick. The ambiance was great even for a Sunday night! The drinks were incredible and super cool. One came with gummy bears! Each dish blew me away.
The food was incredibly good. The coconut soup was so delicious. And the appetizers were all great. Ambiance and service was great. And the presentation of the food was excellent. We will come back without doubt.
The food was delicious and the cocktails were so fun and pretty! Would def go back for the drunken noodles and cheesy crab rangoon - my favorites from the menu.
Delicious authentic Thai food inspired by the vibrant floating markets of Thailand in a great location in Brooklyn and the service was friendly and attentive. The establishment isn't overly decorated or saturated with themed decor but has subtle hints of Thai culture throughout the restaurant which is nice. It has a cozy and intimate feel but it's super casual.
On the menu:
Mama Tom Yum grilled river prawns
Crying Tiger
Shrimp Donuts
Duck Crepe
Floating market
Watermelon mojito
Mango sticky rice
The food was delicious but the drinks were lacking in flavor as they both were unsweetened. Not sure if the bartender forgot an ingredient because both drinks were almost like drinking a seltzer. Very pretty but lacked flavor.
Overall 9/10

Amazing lunch at this wonderful Thai restaurant. Delicious menu choices and cocktails. Lovely ambience and great service.
You can totally tell I’m crazy about Thai food when I hit up this Thai restaurant in Brooklyn right after getting back from Bangkok to New York.
This spot’s low-key but still serves up some legit Thai vibes! My go-to dishes are the shrimp donut and the MaMa Tom Yum grilled river prawn – seriously delish! And the presentation? Totally Thai vibes, peace signs and all! Plus, the Tom Ka Za cocktail hits the spot! Overall, it’s a solid experience.
Here’s the breakdown: Food: 4/5, Ambience: 4/5, Drinks: 5/5, Service: 4.5/5.
As for what we ordered:
✨Appetizer: shrimp donut, Larb wing
🥘Main: MoMa Tom Yum grilled river prawn, fried fish
🍹Drink: Tom Ka Za, Spliked Thai ice milk tea
🍮: Dessert: Mango sticky rice as always
Food and drinks are amazing, the service is great as well. Would recommend if you’re in the area!
Good food and service
Had a great time with a big group of people - delicious drinks and food!
This thai restaurant is very interesting and nice 😀. The atmosphere and the food here are great, especially the food. They have a good selection of classic Thai dishes as well as interesting modern Thai dishes that are inspired by floating market cuisine. From someone who has visited a Thai style floating market before in Thailand, I want to say that Rua does give off that vibe 👍. The decor and setting of the restaurant really give off that bustling market feel/atmosphere.
It was very interesting looking through their menu. I almost couldn't decide what to get, but I settled on trying the dishes that sounded very, very interesting 😆. For example, I had to try this shrimp donut appetizer because it sounded very unique and tasty. I also got their Larb Gai Wrap/Spicy minced chicken salad, which was very flavorful (and spicy! 😀). Other than that, for our main dishes, I tried these two chef special dishes : Mama Tom Yum Grilled River Prawns and Kai Tod Had yai (Thai southern style fried chicken served with butterfly pea jasmine rice, massaman curry dip & roti flatbread). Both of these dishes were amazing! The noodles look very "crazy" and fun, tbh 😆 (from the presentation and the huge grilled river prawns), and the portion size was very large too. Same for the fried chicken platter with the curry. The curry was so flavorful and tasty, and it went very well with the fried chicken 😀. All of these dishes made a very satisfying and filling meal 👍 (for a very good price 🙈). I would definitely come again to try their other dishes.
Oh yea, they also had a bar 😀. I had this melon flavored cocktail called Call Me Green, which was quite tasty and well-presented (just not the strongest...) 😅👌.
Me and my bestfriend visited Rua Thai Restaurant the food and drinks were really good. Highly recommend their lychee cocktails and crab ragoon appetizers.
Atmosphere is quiet and relaxing definitely worth the visit!
Visited Rua as a collab and loved everything. Our server was kind and helped us choose our food based on photos we saw on social media. Went on a Monday night and it was quiet, which was nice for catching up with friends and actually being able to hear each other. It’s a more lowkey version of its sister restaurants, Bua and Lemongrass (which I also highly recommend).
my friend and I came here for lunch on a weekend!
We got:
*shrimp donuts $13
*roti canai $9
*mama tom yum grilled river prawns $29
*pineapple seafood fried rice $26
*spiked thai iced milk tea $12 (HH)
*strawberry guava fizz mocktail $8
first, presentation of the entrees were insane, so pretty. we really liked the entrees. mama tom yum grilled river prawns noodles were so flavorful. the pineapple seafood fried rice was also good but compared to noodles, lacked some flavor, but pineapples were soo sweet, yum. shrimp donuts were yum, but the roti was not that good, wasn’t a fan. last, the spiked thai tea with coconut rum and whipped cream was sooo good, i love. my friend also enjoyed her strawberry guava fizz mocktail, which essentially was like juice.
Delicious food that is served so beautifully!! Really loved their mama noodle dish with these ginormous prawns 😋 the shrimp donuts are also a must if you love shrimp! The dessert here is great as I’ve never tried taro pudding before and the flavor is so fragrant and creamy

Rua is such a good Thai restaurant. Located in Brooklyn, it's a small but cozy place.
I shared a lot of food with my friend and had a unique drink too!
Duck Crepe - Crispy duck, cucumber, scallion and carrot wrapped in roti bread
Shrimp Donuts - My favorite! Unique snd crispy
Color Changing Lemonade - Butterfly pea juice, served with lemon juice (I loved pouring the lemon juice and seeing the color change)
Kai Tod Had Yai - This southern-style fried chicken served with butterfly pea jasmine rice, curry dip, and roti flatbread (This was not my favorite dish, to be honest, but the curry dip elevated it)
Clay Pot Rice - Chicken, sausage, egg, onion, scallion, tomato, broccoli, shiitake mushrooms
Coconut pudding
Neighborhood favorite, excellent food and kind people!
Super excited I came across Rua Thai in Brooklyn while walking down Smith Street. Rua Thai was such a pleasurable dining experience . The authenticity of the restaurant took me on a journey through Thailand market. From the aromatic soup to the flavorful Duck Yaowarat , each dish showcased a perfect balance of spices . The ambiance was inviting and the staff provided attentive service. Their signature cocktail selections are phenomenal. The menu offers a huge variety of Thai specialities. I enjoyed this great culinary journey!
I heard the shrimp donuts and duck crepes were out of of this world so I had to check it out and it most certainly lived up to it's name! The food and service is excellent the vibe is luxurious and the drinks are so delicious! Will definitely come back!
The Thai food here was so delicious ! The food was presented so beautifully. The flavors were so authentic and delicious. The noodles were so good and the large prawns were good. The drinks were also good. The server was friendly and the food came fast. They have a beautiful seating area with a gorgeous chandelier
I don’t know where to start, this is a place you must definitely check out. We whr lucky to go there around the time they launched new items on the drinks menu and absolutely fell in love with the spicy mango 🥭. I had the duck yaowarat where you get duck marinated in a delicious gravy with mushrooms and butterfly pea soaked rice 🤤, worth every penny. Of course we can’t go to a Thai place and not try the pineapple fried rice 😁.
Can’t even say enough because we loved everything we tried and the ambience was so soothing and homely. Felt like a trip to Thailand with their floating market themed ambiance ❤️.
And everything comes together perfectly with amazing customer service for which we will definitely keep coming back for again and again. We found ourselves a hidden gem 💎
Service was quick, food is good. Overall positive experience
I had the opportunity to try this Thai restaurant and was extremely pleased. This hidden gem was the perfect place for a calm afterwork dinner. The ambiance was quite peaceful, the prices were reasonable and the food was beautifully plated! I ordered the steak and jasmine rice for an entree and the cheesy crab rangoon for the appetizer! I got the watermelon mojito as my drink ! I ordered the crab fried rice to take home!! Follow me on instagram and TikTok for the video visuals 💕
Love this restaurant. Great authentic Thai food in a beautifully decorated decor.
Rua Thai in Brooklyn was a delightful experience that transported me directly to the vibrant streets of Thailand.
From delicious mocktails to flavor-packed dishes, each aspect of our dining experience was a testament to the authenticity and dedication of this Thai gem.
Starting with the drinks, the Butterfly Pea Lychee Soda and Plum Soda were not only visually appealing, but also refreshing concoctions that set the tone for the meal. The play of flavors, blending sweet and tangy notes, showcased the thoughtfulness put into their beverage offerings!
🍽️ Now, onto the feast of flavors:
* Duck Crepe: This innovative dish featured crispy duck, cucumber, scallion, and carrot wrapped in roti bread, creating a harmonious fusion of textures and tastes.
* Mango Avocado Salad: A vibrant assembly of julienned mango, avocado, red onions, cashew nuts, scallions, and tomato, drizzled with a chili lime dressing. The combination was a burst of freshness and a celebration of contrasting flavors.
* Mama Tom Yum Grilled River Prawns: The grilled shrimp, coupled with sautéed tom yum noodles, was a showcase of Thai culinary expertise, offering a perfect balance of spicy, sour, and savory.
* Pla Tod Numpla: A culinary masterpiece, the crispy whole branzino was accompanied by a sweet and savory sauce, mango salad, and blue butterfly pea jasmine rice. The dish not only delicious, but also pleased the eyes with its artful presentation.
* Coconut Pudding: The Thai coconut pudding proved to be the perfect sweet denouement to our night—a silky, rich treat that left us savoring the essence of coconut.
Kudos to the team at Rua Thai for bringing this gem to Brooklyn and inviting us to savor the essence of Thailand in every bite.
Amazing! Everything was phenomenal. Warm and cozy thai restaurant in brooklyn✨
Rua Thai is a modern Thai inspired by floating market cuisine. The name rua translate as rowboat refers to the boats where vendors like chef’s family plied their goods on the canals of the market. The menu’s contemporary style of cooking combines the real flavors of street food with the bustling energy of the floating markets. On the menu, you’ll find unique dishes inspired by those his family sold in the market alongside modern takes of Thai favorites. They also have a full bar with signature cocktails.
Must try is the shrimp donut and The branzino fish, It is so Crispy with a sweet savory sauce, Mango salad and a blue butterfly pea jasmine rice.
I just don’t have literally words to describe it ! 😍. I loved this Thai restaurant. This is my third time visiting a Thai Restaurant, this one is specifically,it’s perfect to visit with a group of friends or for a date 🥰🌹!The vibe and the music it’s good to have a good conversation.
Services was phenomenal! 10/10.
Food. 10/10.
Drinks.10/10.
Atmosphere 10/10.
You must visit this restaurant for Valentine’s Day 🥰🥰❤️.
The curries were well seasoned, but could’ve been thicker.
One of my new favorite Thai food restaurants!! The Cheesy Crab Rangoon was out of this world and I'm still thinking about it!! The Pad See Yu was incredible as well! The servers were amazing! Vibe was incredible!
Good food and atmosphere
Good food, great atmosphere. The mama prawns were delicious. Will be back for more!
Great food and service
I went to Rua Thai for dinner last Sunday and had a great time. The food and service were great. Staff were friendly and attentive. We ordered the shrimp donuts, the duck crepe, the colossal crab fried rice, and the pad see yu with crispy chicken. Everything was pretty tasty. The shrimp donuts were full of shrimp and lightly breaded. Using roti bread was a nice twist for the duck crepe. My favorite dish was the crab fried rice. We couldn't stop eating it. It's a massive portion (hence the name), and the sauce it comes with takes it to another level. I definitely want to try dessert next time along with a few other dishes.
ordered dinner from here and it was a big letdown.
The green curry was more like swamp water; very liquid and pale green; no consistency to it at all. The Pad Thai, was a big mush of bland noodles stuck together. Did I mention bland?
The larb chicken wings were straight out of any dive bar. No hint of lime juice, fish sauce, dried chili flakes, n'or cilantro which to my understanding of Thai food, are essential to any larb meal. The pork jerky was the best thing we ordered but still a far cry from that of such restaurants as Somtum Der in Redhook. Finally we ordered a side of herbal rice which was more like rainbow rice; it came in pink, blue and purple hues and lacked any hint of herbs or other flavors.
It is too bad that with an emergence of really good and authentic Thai restaurants in the neighborhood, one like this tries to succeed with nothing but gimmicks instead of relying on good food.
Great food!
My friend and I had quite the meal at Rua. The place was vibey and relaxed enough for us to have a full 3 hour long conversation over a yummy dinner and drinks. The standouts for me were the fried calamari (the sauce they served with it was so good) and the Tom Yum River Prawn Noodles 🤤
What we ate:
Shrimp Donuts
Fried Calamari
Tom Yum River Prawn Noodles
Fried Branzino with Butterfly pea rice and Mango Salad
Drinks:
Floating Market Cocktail
Butterfly Pea Lychee Mocktail
The most charming Thai gem in COBBLE HILL!
If you’re wondering what to order during your visit, here are some recommendations:
🥟 Curry Dumplings
🦀 Cheesy Crab Rangoon
🍍 Pineapple Seafood Fried Rice
🥭 Mango Chicken
🥂 Floating Market, Watermelon Mojito & Smoke On Smith
Trust me you are going to love this spot!
Really the best Thai food I’ve had in New York! Service is friendly, portions are large, and flavor profile is amazing! Really glad to have this in the neighborhood
The place had two beautiful chandeliers that caught my eyes, I had a mocktail drink made of lychee and it was so beautiful and tasty. The shrimp donut was so delicious as well as the tom yum noodles with prawn, crab rangoon and pineapple fried rice with seafood. It was plated so nicely as well as the taro dessert. The staff were very friendly and attentive!
Incredible food, lovely atmosphere, no wait. The curry puffs and roti canai are to die for.
Crab fried rice was solid. Would recommend!
What we liked was the shrimp donut that was very generous appetizers of three sizeable panko crumbed shrimp balls with holes in them on a stick of sugar cane with sweet chili sauce on the side. It was fun presentation and tasty.
The roti on the duck crepe was a bit gummy. The papaya salad was adequate but not at all spicy after they asked and we told them we wanted it medium spicy.
The pad Thai was bland and shrimp had an odd taste.
The meat on the basil pork was grizzly and tough.
Service was fine and I saw some fun looking cocktails at the tables nearby.
🍽️ roti canai with massaman curry
🍽️ Pad see ew
🍽️ Green curry with sticky rice
🍽️ Berry frizz mock tail
The spice level was solid 🌶️ , not too overwhelming but the right amount. Fave was the roti canai with massaman curry, perfect for the cold temperature! Trendy spot that does not compromise on the flavors and portion size!
Great food and portion size! The atmosphere is very nice as well.
