Awesome place. Visited twice. It accepts only cash. In the last visit we ordered chili cashew nut with tofu and rice. This is my favorite. Very delicious. Ambience is good. Location is very good. The price is reasonable when compared with quantity and quality. In the last visit while ordering the chili cashew nut curry we missed to mention tofu and so we got the default chicken. We being vegetarians we explained the situation to the person in charge. Though it was close to the closing time and we were the last customer, the person in charge was kind enough to replace our food with tofu.

These good reviews must be paid for. Honestly the worst Thai I’ve ever had. We ordered Tom Yum soup, crispy spring rolls, cold spring vegetable rolls, two different noodle dishes, two curries, basil chicken, and the papaya salad. Most things either lacked flavor or tasted bizarre. Texture seemed like the dishes had been frozen and then heated up. Rubbery. Also they were 30 minutes late for our pick up and didn’t offer us anything to make up for the wait. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place.

Called them to order a veggie curry noodles, they instead made green curry. During pick up, they argued that I didn’t mention noodles, but later agreed to make noodles.

Now, we know Weehawken is a wealthy area, but the corner at which this restaurant was located seemed like a prime area because we saw Lamborghinis, R8s, Bentleys, all pass by continuously while we were there eating for about an hour. It was a great sight to see! The food was spectacular. We all ordered thai iced tea & spring rolls to start with, and both were freaking delicious. Between the 4 of us, we ordered 2 tofu pad thais and 2 drunken noodles. All of it was so so tasty.

From the outside, the place looks like a hole in the wall, but the place is truly amazing. Definitely recommend!

I was really excited when I found a 4-star rated Thai restaurant in this area but was quickly disappointed when the food arrived. We ordered via GrubHub at 6:30 ish on a Thursday night, and it did come 20 minutes before its quoted time, so I'll give them that.

I ordered the jungle chicken wings for an app, which were actually not bad. Salty, sweet, sour, garlicky - it was the perfect app. I was really craving some noodles and I haven't found a place in NJ that does a good Pad Thai so I decided to go with something safe like drunken noodles. What was not safe was my choice of protein. I decided to go rogue and get meatballs and they literally tasted like frozen meatballs from BJ's. I know because I bought a giant bag of them a few months ago, got really sick of it and only just recently finished them - so the moment I bit into one of those meatballs, I already knew what it was. Aside from the wholesale clubhouse meatballs, I felt the portion was kind of small, compared to other Thai restaurants in the area. There were barely any noodles. It was probably half veggies and half noodles, which I kind of appreciate but am also kind of mad at at the same time. Yes, I do need to eat more veggies, but if I’m ordering takeout, that is my chance to be unhealthy and I want all the noodles I can get. Also, the flavor was more like pad see ew (non spicy and on the sweeter side) so if you want something spicy, this ain’t it.

Maybe I didn’t order the right dish but the meatball situation is unforgivable. If I do order from here again, I definitely know what I am not ordering.

I ordered from them over 6 months ago and just ordered from them recently. Their quantity has gone down so much. The food portions have been severely reduced. Secondly, the food quality was not too good. The Pad Thai was old and sitting around all day. It was dry. I could tell it was not fresh. What is going on? I enjoyed food from this place once before. And the Chinese man who took my order online did not take my debit card info, then made the order difficult to get. It was a major miscommunication. I will not be ordering again from here.

I did not receive my order. When I called to inquire the woman that picked up the phone was very rude, she said she was busy and asked me to speak to the delivery driver. I called the delivery driver and he did not pick up. I spoke to the woman at the restaurant again and said he delivered the food and that since he delivered to my apartment before she doesn't think he made a mistake. However, this was not the first time he mistakenly left food at the wrong apartment and I have text messages to prove it. The customer service is so poor, I will never order from there again.

This is an update review. Have been coming here with my boyfriend for at least 3 years. Today the lady working there with blonde hair , who refuse to give her name, treated us terrible. I ordered take out and usually I even tip for that. However she made us very uncomfortable over a little tear in this $20 bill . Honestly I’ve never been treated so rude , especially for something so petty. I won’t come back here if she is there. Who wants to be started at so rudely and be talked to so rudely over such small things. My boyfriend wasn’t happy about this and went back to give a different bill and still not even an apology. Consider to take your business somewhere else where people working in “hospitality” knows what that actually means.

This place blew our minds, this is some of the best Thai food we have ever had!

We tried the Thai Summer Rolls, with tamarind, chili, peanut sauce. We had the Thai Bamboo Shrimp, and the Flaky Curry Puffs. Loved all three.

We ordered From The Wok: Thai Bail Fried Rice, asked for it to be medium spicy with chicken and the Crispy Whole Snapler with Chili Three Flavors.

We will be back again and we will be bringing friends and family to enjoy. Beyond grateful to have found this place.

We were a bit disappointed. My beef pad see ew had a distinctively weird aftertaste, which I think was freezer burn? I ended up only eating the noodles. We also got the summer rolls which were completely flavorless. My husband’s red curry was definitely the best thing we ordered; it tasted good, but it was not great. We probably won’t order from here again.

The food is really good. Make sure to carry cash along as they are not accepting any cards. Only cash place.
We ordered 2 dishes and the bill was 33my husband gave 40$ considering $7 as tip for the waiter who was also handling the register. And as we were leaving the place he literally asked for more tip. I mean we almost tip you 20% of our bill and still you are asking for more is gross.
Owner needs to train the staff how to behave with customers.
We never faced such situations where even after we paid pretty good tip we have been forced to pay more. And we made a decision even the place had good food we would not visit it again.

I tried the Panang curry with tofu and the basil fried rice with tofu which were Very good. The portion size was enough to fill me. Make sure you bring Cash, they only take cash.

Had the fried calamari as an appetizer. Tasted like something that was bought frozen from Shop Rite and warmed up. The sweet dipping sauce was like orange colored water - drippy and tasteless.
Had Pad thai chicken for a main course. The noodles came clumped together. There were a few peanut chips on the chicken. No sauce could be found. It was basically tasteless.
A disaster of a dinner. Order at your own risk.

I added all my expenses which totaled $31.95 due to extra gratuity that is required to pay (not $37.95). Then my wife and I decided to give him the $2.05 just to help him out, we started to feel sorry for him; TO OUR SURPRISE THE OWNER SAID THAT WAS NOT ENOUGH AND HE DEMANDED MORE MONEY AND ASKED US FOR AN ADDITIONAL $5.00!!! He ended up insisting for those $5 and my wife gave it to him because she did not want to be bothered by him, even though I disagreed.

Back story: Went on a Tuesday night so there was only one other customer which normally ticks me off but I understand I went on a slow day (thankfully). The experience was very pleasant and the service was great. I was split between getting Pineapple Fried Rice and a noodle dish but when I ask the waiter for help he offer to make pineaple on noodles! Which I totally loved! Their chicken curry was also really good.

Ordered curry for dinner a few days ago and came back today for fried rice for lunch. The food is so delicious! The best Thai food I tried outside of Thailand.

All the food at Hi-So is EXCELLENT! Everything we have tried has been exceptional. Drunken noodles, Fresh Thai Ginger w/tofu are favorites. Sticky rice is yummy. You can bring your own bottle, and restaurant is cash only. I do wish you could use a credit card but regardless, highly recommend it.

i frequent hi-so Thai because the food is delicious, I love their peanut curry chicken and grilled dumplings and their coconut water ... I sometimes go in just to order their grilled dumplings on its own as an entree ... the service is so friendly. It’s also a nice quiet place to eat with parking right around the corner which is very convenient.
