Ordered Pad See Ew and Basil Fried Rice both with chicken.

Pad See Ew resembled chicken and broccoli from a Chinese takeout joint. Chicken was dry and the noodles were OK with a very strong soy sauce flavor, didn’t get much Wok fire flavor.

Basil Fried Rice, decent basil flavoring, no heat coming from the hot peppers, broccoli was soggy. Chicken was the same as the Pad See Ew.

The menu at Taan Thai lacks a wide variety of Thai dishes, but the place is small and it is understandable for them to cut on some of the items vs focus on the specific dishes quality. It has great classic curries and noodles you can pick any meat or fish or vegy going with them. The ingredients are all fresh and high-quality, and the dishes are cooked to perfection.

The service at Taan Thai is excellent. The staff is friendly and attentive, and they are always happy to make recommendations.
Overall, Taan Thai is a great place to enjoy authentic Thai cuisine, the only one in the numerous places in that corner of Bergen County .The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and the prices are reasonable. I would recommend it!

Price was good for the portion size and I would say on par with other Thai restaurants.
As other reviews have noted, it is small- no place to sit inside and just one picnic table outside, but that didn't bother me as I was planning for takeout anyway.
People were friendly and it looked to me like the noodles were made in house which is a perk!

This is actually a take out only restaurant, they do not have any space for dine in, there’s barely any space for two people to stand inside the store.

With that said, it’s good friendly neighborhood Thai restaurant, I can get some Thai food within 20 minutes when craving.

Today ordered the Tom Yum soup (w chicken) and chicken pad thai. It was ready within 20 minutes as promised. The tom yum soup was filled with lots of chicken, but it was on sweeter side, unlike traditional spicier and citrusy version. For pad thai, they use the thicker noodles, but it was a good dish.

They have plenty of other interesting items on the menu, that I’d gradually try out.

I got a Shrimp Pad Thai lunch special with the Thai Beef appetizer. The Pad Thai was rich and savory and even came with a pair of spring rolls for the lunch special. The Thai beef was great as well - crispy exterior that paired well with the saufe. Definitely will become my new local Thai go to.

I came to Taan Thai with hope of good take out thai. I got undercooked pad Thai and terrible pad se ew with black noodles. I called the restaurant to try and resolve this issue and I was yelled at and told I’ve never had Thai food and f you! I will never ever come here again and I suggest others don’t aswell.

It has been a while since I have ordered from here but the quality has changed dramatically. They charge restaurant prices now but the food is nowhere near the level of eating out. Disappointed

This place is small….you walk inside and you are standing in the kitchen. But the food is really good. The chef tailors the spice to your preference. There is a little area behind the restaurant to sit.

Very good food and strong flavor! The location was great! The way they decorate is so cute! You can not miss this place for sure! Recommend Spaghetti Kee Mao seafood! Very testy!!!

Chicken & basil sauce

This was my first time having Thai food in my entire life and it is now my favorite food ever. Taan Thai food was so delicious and the service was amazing. I will definitely be returning for some more very soon!

I used to absolutely love this place. The food was excellent and the employees were friendly. Stopped in today for a cold drink. It took 3 awkward, polite asks for the woman to blankly stare at me and say " we don't have that". Got a thai lychee iced tea instead. The lychee was literally frozen into a block and thrown in the cup. With 3 inches of tea and no ice cubes. For over 4.00. I took one sip and had to let the ice block melt in order to drink more. WHAT HAPPENED to this place ?? It used to be SO good. With the prices being higher and the service being what it was, I cannot justify going back . There are plenty of other options in Bergenfield. I sincerely hope this place gets their act together soon.

Delicious food

The food at this adorable, tiny brightly colored Thai restaurant (take out only) is exceptional! Everything is fresh, delicious, made to order Thai food. Nothing is overly salty, too sweet or too fried. The Pad See Ew is addictive and the Penang Curry is beyond delicious. They are very accommodating with dietary restrictions. The staff is as lovely as can be. It is simply the best take out food around.

It's ok now. Used to so much better especially before the fire 😭. Ordered Pad kee mao and it was alright, smelled amazing but the flavors were lacking somewhat. Pineapple fried rice was really a let down, it just looked and tasted so bland and put together last minute with no time for the flavors to mingle. Thai iced tea was great! But I feel like it's hard to mess up.

We have lived in this area since 2017 and have used other Thai restaurants (Norwood, closter, etc). We decided to try Taan 2 wks ago... honest feedback from all 6 people who ate was the food was "okay". I personally do not like over-salty foods so I was pleased this is not the case...however, it almost is not enough flavor....we can taste it but everyone wanted more sauce/flavor in all the dishes we tried.
Cooking tastes/feels authentic.
Confused with others recent reviews about atmosphere....this is a take-out only place people! Haha
Pricing ok but you pay 20-30% more by ordering online as they used 3rd party services (grubhub,doordash, etc) even for pickup orders....they need to get their own system up/running to avoid this i think. You CAN call them to avoid this extra fee but much more convenient to order online.
There is no Parking lot for this business but decent amount of train parking across the street.
Bottomline is we prefer other Thai flavors but Taan has okay flavor...its just not powerful enough for us...but that is a personal opinion....try them and decide for yourself.

Worse green curry I have ever tried

Its a nook, almsot as if your ordering from an immobile foodtruck. Mimi the owner is warm & welcoming. The squid was tender and the basil rice was perfect. The chili sauce she makes packs a sensational mouth feel.

Taan Thai is back and better than before. I got the Moo Krob Basil, crispy shrimp rolls and lavender lemonade. The Moo Krob was absolutely on point, spicy with more than enough crispy pork belly. The shrimp rolls were excellent as a simple, tasty appetizer. The lavender lemonade is what I missed the most while Thaan was rebuilding . Its just as good as before, very refreshing on warm nights. The only criticism of Thaan is that they forgot the rice that was suppose to come with the Moo Krob. Not a big deal, ill know to ask for next time . Welcome back Thaan Thai !

Got the Pad Thai with chicken. It was done quickly, about 5 minutes or so. All of the staff greeted me hello, which is so nice. The place may be small, but the building has recently been rehabbed and looks great. My lunch was very tasty, I almost couldn't eat it fast enough! Thank you for feeding this hungry guy who is now glad he woke up too late to make his lunch today :)

Food is good but the prices posted on the internet is different than in store. This is take out store but the prices that they have set is comparable to a high end sit-down restaurant in edgewater with better tasting items on the menu. I was so happy that they re-opened after the fire but somehow disappointed with the in store prices.

I love Thai food. I've been to 8 other tai restaurants in Bergen county, and Taan Thai is the best. All their main dishes are excellent. I've been ordering here weekly for over a year since finding them.
They serve large enough portions to fill me up (i'm a young man trying to put on weight) without the need for an appetizer ( i've never tried the appetizers). They give larger portions than other thai restaurants in the area thats for sure.
I really hope they open back up soon. ( Taan Thai has been closed since they had a fire accident). the other Thai restaurants nearby cant match taan thai's standard and its really killing me

The best pad thai in the area!

It's simply the best, better than all the rest. Tina Turner (or David Rose?) aside, Taan Thai is simply KILLING IT with these dishes. Since I moved to Bergenfield, Taan has become a staple when ordering out. You're not dinning in here; this is a small kitchen, barely larger than a food truck. Whether you are picking-up or getting delivery, however, get your taste buds ready.

Vegetarians, rejoice. You can dig in to any of the curries (the Panang and the Massaman are delightful), or you can try the more creative Spaghetti Kee Mao, which at first glance seems like a weird conflation of cuisines, but it works so well.

Tom Kha is top notch, and my omnivore friends enjoy chicken with their dishes, but have tired the tofu or veggie options and have said they don't miss the meat because the flavors are so dynamic.

I don't like giving five stars every time I like something, because we overdo that is our rating culture, but Taan definitely deserves the top rating.

This is unquestionably the worst Thai food I have ever had. It was a complete disappointment from the size of the portions, the toughness of the chicken and the lack of flavor of the food. Over the past 30 years I have enjoyed Thai food at most of the restaurants in the tri-state area. This is by far the worst.

I’ve had Thai food at so many places and Taan Thai is by far my favorite. And the owner Mimi is so nice!! Def recommend this place!!

This is our third or fourth time ordering, love it each time. The pad Thai with tofu is my fav, the apps all taste great as well.

Had friends with over and decided to order from here after seeing the quaint little purple building a couple times. One of our friends was pregnant, so we ordered like $200 worth of food. Everything was really good and we’re kinda picky about our Thai food.

5 stars to the following dishes: the wings, pineapple fried rice, Pad Lee mao (beef), crispy duck, pad Thai, chicken satay, and papaya salad.

My only knock on the place was their Tom Ka soup. It just wasn’t that good. You expect Tom Ka to be creamy and a little oily. But the broth on this one was very light and almost watery. It also lacked the traditional mushrooms in favor of tomatoes, which I was not a fan of. While this soup was disappointing (my wife and I love Tom Ka soup) I’m willing to ignore this because all their other dishes are so on point.

Service is also good and kind. In addition to being super polite, they also hooked us up with a Thai Iced tea and purple Thai lemonade with our large order.

We will definitely order from here again.

FABULOUS! Have been on a thai food kick recently. Passed this restaurant 100 times but never paid it mind. Ordered delivery tonight (Sweet and Sour tofu, Papaya Salad, and Pinapple Rice chicken). Will absolutely be back to try new dishes.

LONG WAITING

First time I order, staff is friendly.Food was great.
Were quick to cook my food,so I could be on the road again.

Ordered the crispy thai beef, was not crispy.

The other thai place that was there prior, Yimmies, was excellent.

But this was not crispy at all, and I didnt like the change of sauce it was served with.

I cannot speak for the rest of the food, but the thai beef was not up to par.

Was in the mood for shrimp pad thai. As a foodie, I was hoping this place would nail it and satisfy my craving. Here's what I was hoping to see when I removed the lid. Onions, scallions, peanuts and a few wedges of lime on top of a bed of moist noodles and succulent shrimp. What I got was noodles and shrimp. Very little onions (which I asked for extra) no scallions, barely any peanuts and I don't think I spotted any egg at all. For $17 you have to bring your A game. Like I said, I'm a foodie so my standards are high. Even though it was disappointing, it was still edible. They were generous with the shrimp just forgot about the other elements that make pad thai great. Also had curry puffs. A bit greasy but they hit the spot.

I'd highly recommend coming here GREAT service and GREAT food.We ordered off grubhub and GRUBHUB completely messed up. It had passed one hour when we called and then the driver cancelled from the GRUBHUB company. However, Taan Thai kept very professional about the whole incident. THEN Taan Thai had to remake our food since it got cold in a hour AND they gave us both orders of food. THEN because the GRUBHUB DRIVER CANCELLED last minute the restaurant itself had to deliver our food. They also left us a very kind note, would go again.

The pictures are very deceitful. It's not what they claim. They took pictures off of Google images and try to pass it off as theirs. Very expensive for such small portions. Taste is not what I'm used to more like Thai infusions and not authentic. There's better places to eat.
