Homey restaurant serving classic Thai noodle, curry & stir-fry dishes, plus seafood specials.
Service was decent. Very courteous and prompt. I ordered lunch special but was never offered soup. I didn't ask for it because I doubt I could have eaten it. Chicken satay was decent but not super flavorful. Cashew chicken lunch was good portion for the daily special. It seemed unusually sweet. I had expected a more savory flavor with peppers. Chicken could have used a little more seasoning, more cashew and fresher mushroom but overall dish was okay. Mango sticky rice was good. Quite sweet. The building is in need of some maintenance for sure. Sink in bathroom was running water as it didn't shut off completely. Parking lot had a lot of pot holes.
A very typical strip mall Thai restaurant. Good lunch prices, but nothing to drive out of your way for. Pad Thai was one note, a little too sweet for my taste, and had nothing to vary the texture. No fresh bean sprouts. No side of peanuts.
They can't afford to pay their employees, and it shows in the process...
It really irritates me that they are practically begging for tips... I was forced to put a 0 in the tip line online because it won't let you check out without putting something in there. Keep in mind i order 1 small bowl of pho.... why would I tip just to have you pour some soup in a plastic bowl and tie it up in a plastic bag?!? So that's strike 1, then I get to the counter, mind you I've already paid, and she has the gull to hand me a receipt to add a tip and says "i just need you to sign this". No! my food is paid for. Why are you begging for another tip? Then they have a tip jar on top of all of that! If you aren't making enough to pay your employees, just charge more for the food.... absolutely unimpressed and will never return.
I called twice to try to make an order and nobody answered so I decided that I would just drive up there and put in an order and take it to go. I didn't have to wait very long which was nice. I ordered pad thai, Thai fried rice, and Thai spring rolls. I noticed that my pad thai had a lot of red sauce which I'm not used to. I took a bite of it and realized that it is ketchup sauce on the pad thai I called and asked if they use ketchup sauce and Kyla informed me they don't use ketchup sauce they use tomato paste. Why there is clumps of tomato paste in my pad thai I have no idea. Also in the right hand corner under the noodles there were 4 lime wedges. I have no idea why they put so many lime wedges in the pad thai other than to take up more room in the container. Also I should include that there was no egg or bean sprouts in the pad thai. The Thai fried rice is very bland and overall the food is just not what I'm used to when I eat Thai food.
I hate to leave a bad review because this place is normally good. I don’t know what their pad Thai normally taste like, but I got the Tuesday special medium heat. Everything was rubbery like it was cooked hours previously. Kind of gross and the spice or flavoring on everything reminds me of chicken wings. Like really crappy buffalo sauce. That’s all I can taste. There’s nothing Thai about it. I guess I got a bad batch, but damn that’s really gross. so pad Thai completely nasty but the appetizer combo was really good
We went here twice in one week. Our first trip was for lunch, and our server was extremely bubbly, polite, and on top of things. She was pleasant! Our second trip was in the evening and the server didn't seem to want to be there, or care. The food was delicious though. We enjoy the poothongs, tiger cry beef with sticky rice, red curry. I ordered a Thai basil fried rice as well because I used to love theirs. It definitely isn't the same anymore, and neither is the tom yum soup. They're good, but different and I would probably not order it again. We also like the Thai iced tea and the Thai iced coffee, they're super sweet, but absolutely delicious.

Forgot part of order. Food expensive for low end quality. Never again .
This place is my jam. There for a while, I was eating here like 3 times a week. Reasonable prices with specials and the food is killer.
Yellow curry is amazing!
The food was delicious, I had red curry and my husband had beef pho. I also had Thai tea it was very refreshing! Cute little shop, staff was polite and service was quick. Wish I lived closer and could go more frequently!
So glad we stopped in today and found out it's my Kansas City friends favorite Thai spot. The pho was very good, the beef fried rice and a curry dish were also very good.
Overall, food was good. I was disappointed they didn't have a salad with peanut sauce option like so many Thai Restaurants have.
They can't afford to pay their employees, and it shows in the process...

We ordered the sample platter, wonton pho soup and seafood pho soup and it was all amazing as always. They never fail us!
Excellent Thai restaurant. Pad Thai Tuesday is an excellent special!

Great weekly specials... My favs are pad ki mao, yum nua salad, and basil fried rice!
I love Tasty Thai! It’s a go-to every time I visit Kansas City. It’s located in a sketchy, mostly-closed strip mall, but don’t let that scare you away from excellent curry. Take a night off from the bbq and give them a try!
So, I love good Thai food, it is typically fresh and delicious.
This spot seems a little more "greasy spoon" Thai food, which is a little unusual for Thai.
Otherwise pretty decent Thai food.
Their Spicy Eggplant stir fry is quite good. I have had a couple of their noodle dishes that were pretty good.
They had the best peanut sauce I have ever had years ago, but apparently that was a fluke or a different chef, as it has been completely different every time since.
Great service in this tucked away little Thai restaurant. Wonderful flavors and variety. One of the few restaurants left with reasonable prices.
My first time eating there and it was very good! I got the mixed vegetables with chicken and egg rolls. The thai noodles that others in my party ordered looked and smelled great. They give you like a chicken soup broth with chicken, rice noodles which has a really good flavor to it. I would definitely go back here again.
I’ve eaten here a few times and usually the food is okay. Not terrible, but also not amazing. Most recently I got the pad Thai, calamari, and wonton soup. The wonton soup was delicious. Hot, savory, and fresh wontons. Calamari was okay but a bit tough, only rings (no tentacles). The pad Thai was… very strange. It was extremely sweet and tasted like ketchup. Neon orange color. The chicken in it was really dry. There really was no other flavor than sweet. The service was nice though! I’ll stick to the wonton soup if I go back.
There just isn't any flavor in this food. I went with a group (January 2024) and we all ordered different items and appetizers to share. Very little flavor to any of the food we tried. I'll be avoiding this place in the future.
Went for the jerky, and it was terrible. I'll never be back there.
A little black girl came in to ask for a cup of water and the staff said no. A foreign girl came in and ask for a cup of water and the staff said yes for free. Now what do you call this??? The restaurant has cameras so they can't lie about it.
For Mother’s Day, I just wanted Tom Kha soup for dinner. $50 later, my husband gets home with our order and my large soup, so I could have leftovers, was 1/4 from being full. Very disappointing, especially since it was vegetarian.
Not sure why people would tolerate their horrible attitude by coming to this restaurant. The food was below-average, and the service was by far the worst I have experienced in Kansas City. Thank you, not again.
My family favorite!!!! Rich fresh vegetables and yummy homemade meals made to order. Always polite great service💕💕💕
tasty Thai? More like tasty lie. Ordered seafood Thai rice and pad thai. Seafood not fresh, came from Walmarts 'seafood melody" mix literally, I know because I bought it before and hated it. Probably my fault for expecting good Thai food in Kansas city Missouri 😭
This place used to be good. I gave it another try last night for my B-day dinner. Everyone was disappointed. My $18 cashew duck had raw bell peppers and canned mushrooms in it. Kids fried rice had no seasoning. The Pad Ki Mao was cold in center and had zero spice. I'm telling you ZERO spices! We asked the server and she said they don't cook with spices now because of complaints, they bring pepper flakes on the side for you to add. We asked her heat it up and add some spice... she sprinkled it on and microwaved it. (pretty sure it was made hours prior and microwaved originally). Thai iced coffee tasted old/expired, thai iced tea was white because they only put about 2 Tablespoons of actual tea in it. The rest was pure, sweet condensed milk. $120 down the drain. It really used to be good, what a shame.
I got the Tom Ra soup with tofu and medium spice and it was the mildest soup I've ever had. It was good, just absolutely no spice at all. I get this place is surrounded by white people who don't understand seasoning but if I ask for my socks to be blown off with heat I expect it to be spicy. Idk if I'll ever come back here but if I do I will be ordering hot for everything.
The food is gross. Save your money.
The pad thai tasted like it was made primarily with ketchup. The beef pad see ew tasted like it was made in a pan that wasn't washed after it was used to make fish.
The chicken curry was REALLY dry.
Service was fine, but nothing can redeem the fact I actually had to pay for food that bad.
Very high prices, the staff is ok. The food is very very sweet. If you like sweet, this is your place. Tried it once more, but unfortunately was even worse. Atmosphere had improved.
Maybe it was an off night, but I felt that my food was made earlier that day and was just microwaved. The chicken was rubbery and did not taste very fresh. The decor, however,
is nice.
Wonderful Thai dinner. I can't wait to go again.
Doesn't get any better, if you want Thai this is the place
The food is good if you want Thai food but don’t expect the fried rice to taste like Chinese fried rice
This is my favorite restaurant. The food is great. Service and atmosphere too. Tiger cried beef and chicken pad thai are awesome. I also love the Thai iced tea.
Average
The food was just ok. It was not good but was at least edible. Service was slow and one of male servers, who I think was actually the cook, drug his sleeve through my rice as he dropped it unceremoniously on the table. The restaurant is poorly lit and the furnishings are tired and dingy. I have eaten here in the past and the food and service were pretty good. This time, however it was not.
The worst. I used to eat here and it lived up to its name. But now the food is worthless and is as appetizing as the dilapidated strip mall where it's located. Stay away!
So, I hate giving bad reviews, but this place was just bad. No flavor. Dishes constructed incorrectly. Just overall not good.
The curry is amazing! Love this place, good authentic Thai food!
Great food recommended love the food great service
I totally think this is worse Thai restaurant I have EVER ate .
It was 5 of us . And restaurant close to home that we visit .
I order coconut soup and red curry.
I could not eat any of it . My husband had fried rice and it was also pretty bad .
I have to add that I have never in my life was not able to eat Thai food .. and I am almost 50 and have been in a lot of states and usually Thai is safe to go anywhere with any company as anyone will find something in a menu.
STAY AWAY from this dying place. It is abandoned for reason
Good curry
Good and tasty food.
Have ate here off/on for almost 20yrs, started going, mostly takeout, 2-3yrs after they opened. Most recent visit a couple weeks ago was a let down. Portions are much smaller, very few pieces of shrimp, chicken & onions were lacking in my pad Thai. I did order it hot and the spice and flavor was really good. But, portion size seems half of what to-go orders are. I'll give it another shot and order to-go next time and see if it's better. If not, I'll look elsewhere for my Thai fix. To go order used to be 2, if not 3 meals. We ate all our food that nite. Lastly, prices have increased dramatically for less food on this visit at least.
Fast and friendly service, food was outstanding. Favorite dish was Tiger Cried Beef.
Great dishes and great prices. I love the variety from thai curry dishes to pho and great selection of appstizers. The dishes are generous so there is always enough to take home. I highly recommend for fine in and carry out. Great service overall.
Y’all need to learn how to make Larb the right way or don’t even put it on the menu ground chicken and chop up lettuce and big pieces of onion? That’s not how larb is made by Lao or Thai ppl this chick larb went straight into the trash I didn’t even bother to take a second look/bite at it
Great as always.
Update: They reduced their store size I believe because of their take away business after covid. They also increased their special lunch prices but so goes the world.
Great Food at a very reasonable price. Portion sizes are reasonable. Great selection on the menu.
Food was all good for not a bad price at $10-$15 per dinner entre.
Awesome food and the lady who was that day was awesome, I don't remember her name but has an awesome customer service
Spent nearly $70 on a take out order for 3. Ordered Pad Ki Mao 1 with no Spice and 2 with medium heat which is usually pretty spicy. I also ordered extra noodles on all 3 since they are pretty small dinners if you do not order extra noodles. There was no spice on any of them, and no extra noodles on any of them. $70 and we are still hungry. Used to love this place - how disappointing. I also waited for 10 minutes for someone to come out from the back and notice me, and there were people eating in the dining area, so can’t imagine their service was any better than mine. Good food, but this time was definitely not worth the cost.
Got take out and it was awesome! Spice could be better, but we normally like it super spicy!
Love eating here. Even when I lived out of state, I always stopped here to pick up food on my way from the airport!
Chicken larb is awesome
Honestly I’m still looking for the flavor. I love Thai and this was the most tasteless fried rice I’ve ever had. New to the area excited about the option disappointed in the taste🥴. Compared to the pictures my rice was clearly missing something. Sorry to say won’t go back.
Delicious food excellent service
Went to eat with my family today 5/28 and although the food was great, the service provided by the waitress was not. She had a stuck up attitude from the minute we walked in the door, we would get an eye roll for simple requests and at the time of pay she couldn't give my change in my hand, set it right next to the cash register for me to reach over and grab. She completely changed our vibe there to a negative one. She needs to go asap, then I will return.
Outside and inside restaurant looks run down. Food is not as good as before. They have good house soup, curry and fried rice. Their pho noodles are super thick and the broth is not flavorful. Their tiger cry beef is super chewy, not very good. Thai tea is super sugary.
We really enjoyed our dinner at Tasty Thai! Everything was wonderful! The waitress was amazing at how fast & efficient she was!
Great food and service.
Excellent service and good food
It was busy on a sunday afternoon, so that was a great sign. Great pho and very large portions. Once I am back in KC I will go again.
I love this restaurant! Everything we have ever ordered was wonderful! I really enjoyed the pad Thai.
Since there were two service staff members for Saturday night run service was a bit slow and curt but the food was wonderful. I'll go back on a less busy night.
Servers were great! Quality of food was poor. Place is a little outdated which gave a touch of notalgia.
Have eaten here many times over the years foods got to were its not that good the last 3 times I've eaten there. Heated up chicken in a dish it's not very good also the food was bland.
Not very good Pat Thai. Overall inexpensive, might be a good place for a quick bite.
I love Pad Thai. But here, no matter how firmly I ask for "Thai Hot" I'm given SWEET pad Thai with extra sprinkles of seasoning. Tonight I used a lot of Sriracha, but couldn't cut the sweetness.
Spring rolls are amazing! I love the yellow curry, too; mild still has good spice, so be careful!
Good food.. good service......
I learned the proper annunciation of Pho here... family owned, food is consistent, fresh, and tasy!!
Tasty Thai is such a wonderful homey place! We eat here regularly!
Awesome pad thai!
Started eating at Tasty Thai in the early 2000's. It was fantastic. Haven't been in years and decided to stop in. Ordered the chicken pad thai and my wife ordered the yellow curry. The yellow curry was real thin and watery and not as creamy as we remembered. It also didn't have a lot of veggies. The chicken pad thai tasted much sweeter than I remember. I don't remember the pad thai tasting as "americanized" back in the day.
Our Pho was delicious!! The beef was a little over cooked for our preference, but the Pho was still phenomenal! I was a little thrown off that there was chicken in the spring roll, but still tasty!!
Waitress missed placed my phad Thai order, then didn't offer to make a new dish, just added the meat I originally ordered. My wife's food came out 15 minutes after they brought my dishes out the second time. Their phad Thai sauce definitely has ketchup in it, it was gross. Multiple time our waters were empty without being refilled for 5-10 minutes after we were told they would be right back to fill out glasses. Also I got sick from it that night, food poisoning? We use to love eating here but will never be coming back after this experience.
Good Pho
The food is always great. They closed off the large dinning area so it gets really crowded. The servers are way over worked and are run ragged. Service has really gone down hill.
This place was pretty good.
I had it for lunch today first time I was very disappointed. There were chunks of potato in my noodle curry, some chicken and mostly broth. The sauce was gpod but the noodles were a sticky mess.
Decent Thai food.
Some of my favorite pad thai and pho in the city. Great service. Great food. It's our go-to for asian take-out.
Love it, tiger cried beef and chicken pad ki mao 10/10
Always a good dining option!
Their quality had Tauren a huge nosedive in the past several months. We've eaten here 2-3 times a month for over 15 years. Once in the last 3 months or has a been reasonable. I waited to post this and giving 3 stars is hugely generous given their quality lately. My basil fried rice had ONE thin strip of basil in it, 2 cubes of tofu, one tiny life of green and yellow pepper, pretty much nothing else but rice. We're done until their quality picks back up. I'll drive across town to get decent Thai, plenty of great places around. Such a shame. This place is so convenient and used to be so good.
Its worth driving to the Liberty location. The pad thai is better over there and the portion size is much larger.
Pad Thai was good, HUGE portion. Easily 4 meals. However, there was not much chicken and no limes included. I would order extra chicken and mild spice next time.
Thai newbies:
Learn from my ignorant mistake! Medium spice level is more like a Taco Bell Diablo or the ghost pepper chip challenge. I couldn’t eat it without adding tons of lime juice and veggies. My lips and gums went numb! Lol
Very busy, was good
The staff is very kind, the food is great! It’s become a weekly meal, so beware it’s yummy!
Great place with great service. Please give grace of its a busy time. Either go at at off peak or have the patience not wait a bit. Red curry and beef pho are my favorite dishes along with the spring rolls.
Staff is dedicated , and food is authentic Thai food well prepared and very tasty nice atmosphere most often ! And Great selection, set back off street in a old shopping center. Lotsa parking , and handicap accessible. Beware ,believe ownership has changed .
Food has not been as good as many years before . Second restaurant in Liberty , Missouri.
The food was ready quickly and much more quickly than the online order estimates which was great! Pretty large portions for each dish and all of us had leftovers. Two of us tried the vermicelli which was good and another had pad Thai which was so delicious! Definitely recommend trying out this restaurant if you’re in the northland.
Best Thai in KC!!
Rotten baby corn in the food! Fried rice is barely fried! Bad attitude and rudeness from the attendant! This place used to be good and now it is hot garbage!!!
Excellent food and great service.
Great food.
I got food poisoning from their spring rolls three times. So I waited a year before ordering again. I ordered through Doordash. They told my dasher they didn't receive the order. The order was eventually cancelled after the poor dasher waited for like an hour. I hope they figure out whatever problems they are having in the back.
I wanted to love Tasty Thai and sadly I can’t say that I do. I ordered the jerky appetizer, pad thai (medium heat), and my roommate ordered the crab rangoon appetizer with shrimp pad thai (mild). The food was honestly just okay. The pad thai was too dry, hardly spiced/seasoned (including my medium selection which I would categorize as more mild), and the whole meal was just meh. Tasty Thai absolutely doesn’t compare to other Thai places I’ve been and just felt subpar by comparison.
Amazing! As always! Thank you
Food burnt, waitress was weird, and food expensive. All this because they don't want to wait tables.
The Yellow Curry and the Curry Friend Rice are wonderful! Spicy Basil Leaves is delicious too. They'll adjust the heat to suit your tastes. 🙂
First-come, first-served has apparently gone by the wayside here. My wife and I stopped in, hoping to get pho before heading to a movie. We were seated at 5:20, and the staff immediately got us water. At the time, we were one of three tables seated. Five, then 10 minutes passed, so I finally pulled out my phone and scanned the QR code; the waitress saw it and said “I’ll be right back!”
She walked past three more times, seated two two-tops and a four-top, and then decided to take those orders first.
No food is THAT good.
Great attentive service with good food and large portions. Definitely worth checking out. Thai green curry is delicious and the Tiger Cry Sauce is so flavorful.
Please get more help! Ordered online and did not start cooking food until I arrived at the restaurant.
Great food.
The Yum Nua is amazing here at Tasty Thai. The soup to start was also amazing, and I 'm enjoying the Thai Iced Coffee too. My waitress is from Mongolia, which is so cool. Great service!
Food was very good. The staff was friendly
Closed on the Monday I went. Did the times change?
Pad Thai was great, the bubble tea had evaporated milk I think and I'm lactose intolerant.
The food here is outstanding. Everything is made fresh to order. The staff is polite. The food is rich and flavorful and the portions are generous. I have tried several items on the menu and have never been disappointed. I wish I lived closer, I would eat here every week.
My Husband and I love their food! We always get the chicken and shrimp pad Thai (extra hot)! Also, their crab rangoons are THE BEST we’ve ever had! Service is great and the staff are friendly! 5/5 for us!
**They sell hot chili sauce in the front that will taste amazing on home cooked meals! I usually put it on my sautéed veggies and meat.**
Food and service were wonderful. I agree with others the parking lot is run down but don't let that keep you from enjoying this local treat.
Our favorite in the northland!
Thai green curry was very good. And the portions were enormous.
Noodle dishes were above average.
Service was fine, restaurant clean, and ordering experience left nothing to complain about.
-1 star for mixing up spice levels between two noodle dishes.
But overall, will order here again.
Great lunch specials, and great all-day-long weekday specials.
6 months ago I would have rated this a 5 but the service had gone way down and the care put into the dishes has gone down as well. The last three times we’ve had ingredients left out from the dishes we ordered. Every time the same dishes start tasting different. I really love this place I just hope it can get back to how good it used to be.
Fresh and tasty. Generous portion.
