Had a great dinner out with a group of friends last night. I didn't catch the waitresses name, but she was great and a huge highlight in the evening.
The food was good too. I was happy with my crunchy sushi roll and the calimari was a fantastic sharable dish, although I did eat most of it myself.
I would have liked to have tried the Thai dishes but I really wanted sushi. So I guess I have a reason to go back next time I visit KC.
Had a great lunch here! Food was flavorful and plentiful. Prices are still affordable despite all the other restaurants being so expensive. The staff was warm and welcoming. Parking was free at the market across the street.
We had the Tom Kha Soup Bowl with Chicken, spring roll sampler, and Shrimp Pad Thai. The only thing I'd say could improve is the crispy rolls were a bit greasy, and the chicken was tough. Otherwise, great experience and will definitely go back again for more!
Love this place! Have always enjoyed their Thai but they recently rolled out additional sushi menu items and a great cocktail list! Service is always very attentive and the new menu items are awesome as the river market community needed sushi in the neighborhood!
Had samuai roll (beautiful presentation and quite tasty!), seaweed salad (nice touch with avocado), miso soup (amazing) and the Thai 75(will crave this!!!!) Menu attached.
The food was excellent and fast. A little surprised that we were the only ones in the restraunt seated during a Friday night dinner service, tons of carry out went through.
.
The thai wings were a sticky and amazing highlight. The Pad Thai and Satay were hot and peanuty, with fresh ground toasted peanuts on the side. We also really liked the dipping sauce served with the crab rangoons, better than the usual premade red sweet and sour you find elsewhere. Also props the young waitress who was very attentive and sweet.
Thank you
PROs: Great location. Clean establishment. Beautiful decor. Friendly and attentive service. Indoor seatings only. Ideal place to host a party or family gathering. The food was fresh, fast and very good. The Light Rail conveniently stops in front of the restaurant.
CONs: Street or pay to park, there is not a designated parking lot.
Approx $65 (with tip) We ordered Crab Rangoons, Soft Spring rolls, Spicy Tom Yum Soup with beef and Tom Kha Soup with tofu.
Dined at Phikul Thai Bistro for the first time last week with my partner and we loved it! I cannot believe I've lived in Kansas City so long without trying this restaurant. Honestly, it was the best Thai food I have had in this city to date! Not only was the food extremely fresh and fast, I was very impressed with the woman who served us. I am guessing she was the owner because she served both our table and another set of guests, she made all of the drinks, took the to-go orders, served the food, AND reset the floor. WOW!
We shared the Crab Rangoon and classic Tofu Pad Thai. I also enjoyed a Thai Iced Coffee Cocktail. Everything came out so quickly and full of flavor. The restaurant itself is decorated so beautifully and has a very authentic feel to it. I thought the bar tucked in the back was so cute and the purple colored napkins and seats look very nice. The fact the atmosphere equals the quality of food is hard to get right. I enjoyed everything and will definitely be back to try a curry next time!
First time visiting, certainly won't be the last time! We ordered the shrimp spring rolls as an appetizer and the green curry with chicken and seafood fried rice. They all tasted great, fresh, and came out quick. I wish I had gotten the curry spicier!
The service was also great, quick and friendly. Highly recommend it!
Everything was so good!
Great food. 5 stars.
The HOT level was very spicy just heads up. Great service.
The pad Thai and the sushi are chefs kiss.

I have been here a couple of times it’s usually ok not my favorite place. Today I had it and there was hair in my rice and I had to take my appetizer back because it wasn’t fresh. I will not be returning.
Had a great lunch here! Food was flavorful and plentiful. Prices are still affordable despite all the other restaurants being so expensive. The staff was warm and welcoming. Parking was free at the market across the street.

Great food and atmosphere. The mango sticky rice was the perfect ending to an excellent meal.
Food is great! The restaurant itself is very quiet and gives off a sterile vibe.
Generous portion sizes with great tasting food. Our server was extremely kind and attentive! Will be back!
I'm lao and I'm traveling. The food was a warm hug reminding me of my grandmother's (she does it better, but I'm biased). I highly recommend the laab! I had it with medium spice. So beautifully flavorful yet light.
Decent food but waaaay overpriced
Love the food, but service leaves something to be desired. Ordered takeout using their website and drove to the restaurant only for them to tell me that I ordered too close to closing (15 minutes before they stopped taking orders) and that I could order the next day. Lost a repeat customer. Very disappointed. Was my go to spot.
If you’re visiting KC, dine at Phikul!! If you’re from here and haven’t been yet, DRIVE to Phikul immediately. It is a core Thai restaurant located in the river market. And the Pad Sew Eaew with chicken hits every time! The staff is the sweetest and exceptionally friendly. To describe Phikul in three words: comforting, tasty, and lively!
My favorite pad see ew in town! They have vegan options as well. Very friendly staff.
Always such good energy and service here. The food is excellent. My fav Thai spot in kc for sure! Right on the edge of the market. Also loveee the wallpaper scene of Thailand and all the purple!! Great design!
Excellent meal....food was delicious, portion sizes were huge, flavors were fresh! Service friendly and efficient!
Well.... I just happened to be in the City Market on today and searched "fried rice" near me. I was hoping for a good texture and of course flavor. Well that's exactly what I got. Fast quick, hot & tasty. It's a LOT pricier than usual for fried rice, but did not dissapoint⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We had the appetizer sampler platter, pad Thai, and shrimp fried rice. Everything was mediocre.
Look, I know that Massaman Curry is not a "real" Thai dish and that I exhibit my shallow love for Thai food every time I order it, which is most of the time I go to a place that offers it. The Massaman Curry here was absolutely perfect, balanced between spicy and sweet, fluffy rice, and all the vegetables were perfectly tender without being mushy. Every time I've had the dish, since visiting this place, has been a disappointment. I have to visit Kansas City again, just for your curry. Cheers!
The overall food and service is outstanding however, the temperature in the restaurant is always extremely uncomfortable.
Super friendly and helpful for someone trying out the cuisine for the first time. Clean space and some of the best food I've had in awhile. You could also choose you're spice levels for the dishes which was VERY helpful.
The food was excellent and fast. A little surprised that we were the only ones in the restraunt seated during a Friday night dinner service, tons of carry out went through.

Also props the young waitress who was very attentive and sweet.
Thank you
We got take out, the food tasted like a dirty bleach rag, as if it was prepared in a dirty cutting board.
It was ok.. probably won't be back.. however the staff is friendly but not attentive!!
I was disappointed in the food this go around.
You have to try this best food I’ve had in awhile. PLEASE GO HERE!!!
I have been here four or five times now and the food has been consistently good. Never had a bad meal nor has anyone who has gone with me. However the last couple of visits have made me decide to find another Thai restaurant. There service here can be bad to very bad at times. It should never take longer than 5 minutes before a server comes to your table when there's only people at one other table. Also once you take my order there is no way my meal should come before the appetizer or both come together unless I order it that way. The service was so slow on my last visit that after we ate I had to nearly beg the server to come back so I could pay my tab. Not sure what that's all about. Anyway the food is usually good but the service keeps me away.
Nicely decorated. The food was really good. I had basil fried rice. I don't like spicy, so got it mild, I think I might try medium next time. Service was perfectly attentive.
Just driving through the city and needed to grab an early dinner. Food was fabulous and the hostess was very kind. Would return if we are ever in the area again!
Loved it. Our server was really nice in making sure we got everything and was very considerate the entire time we were there. We aren't local and are from Seattle and really enjoyed the food. The purple really tied everything to make a nice atmosphere. We walked in as a group of 8 on a Saturday night.
Phekal is my favorite restaurant in town. Their brown curry blows the other places out of the water! Their bathrooms are impeccibaly clean also.
The food was immaculant, and the woman who served us was so kind, the only grievance I have is that the pork and chicken I had in my pad Thai wasn't very seasoned. Yummy and well cooked. THE BOBA, OMG. DELICIOUS!!!! The purple had me hooked!!!!!!!
Food was excellent. Solid array of gluten-free options. Our waitress was very friendly and kind. The food was Full of flavor. We highly recommend the Pad Thai, the Rangoon were amazing as well. It was nice to be able to see into the kitchen. Atmosphere was beautiful and peaceful, we really enjoyed the lavender color scheme.
Door Dash order. Staff was Great!
Awesome Thai
Definitely not enough chicken in the pad thai. I Tried this place for the first time in december and it was actually very cold and uncomfortable in there.
If you're curious about curry - please try the Panang Curry!
Great food, but many times I don't think they're open because the decor in the window nearly blocks from being able to see the inside.
The mango bubble tea was delicious! So were the spring rolls and garlic pepper chicken. Good portions, also.
My husband ordered some to go food and it all tasted strongly of being prepared on a counter that was wiped with a dirty rag. We got the food Thai spicy (which to my surprise, actually was) however the food did not taste clean. That dirty rag taste was in everything we ate. We wound up throwing the food away. I am not inclined to return.
Kansas City has a new contender for the best Thai food in town.
I got the Panang Curry to go, it was delicious and rich, with a good amount meat. My only critique is that there isn’t any veggies in the dish and it’s $3-4 to add it. That being said the portion size was really hearty, definitely satisfied. I got my meal to go, so I only had minimal interaction with the staff but the person who brought our food to the front was very nice. The restaurant itself was beautiful and clean. I will absolutely be returning!
Great food and service; I’d recommend Phikul Thai Bistro to anyone.
This place does not mess around! Top Thai in KC, in my opinion.
They turned me on to Chang beer and the service from Ko was awesome!
Amazing food. We are always looking for good thai and this hit the spot!! Go here over LuLu's!!!
Great service. Delicious food. I'm surprised this place wasn't packed when we were there. We will definitely be back.
The red curry and the pad Thai both with tofu was so damn good. This place rocks I highly recommend it. The spring rolls are killer too.
This place is a hidden gem. Everything was so delicious. Needs more customers. You won't be disappointed. Try the Mango sticky rice!
We were in KC for one night trying to find a place to eat. This place was awesome, everything we had was absolutely delicious! On a Saturday night it wasn’t busy but it should’ve been for all the delicious food they offer! If you like Thai food you need to eat here!
The food here was amazing and the service was quick! Everyone was very kind and friendly and the restaurant was pretty purples and beautiful other pieces. My only slight problem was our glasses were empty for a while, but other than that it was a great experience!
As soon as you arrive, you are greeted by the friendliest people! The restaurant is beautiful! This place is amazing and the flavors are just as bold and delicious as when I had it in Thailand the first time. The Pad Ka Prao is spicy basil, ground pork, and veggies. I ordered Pork as my protein, but you can choose what you’d like. You can also choose your spice level. I’m always careful as Thai food can be very spicy so choose your adventure wisely! Lol Thai tea is always a must if it is available and of course the Tom Yum soup is amazing! We got the pot to share but could have easily eaten it alone! I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for great food with fast and friendly service!
Tastey
Authentic Thai that is truly hard to still find in KCMO. Pad Thai spot on along with my Tom Yum Kai and Mano Sticky Rice! Lovely staff, beautiful, quaint restaurant and will order again and recommend to all☺️☺️☺️☺️
Had lunch today here and loved every outstanding bite!! I can’t believe I didn’t know about this place til now!! Staff was friendly and professional!!
If you love Thai-Lao food then this is the place. Definitely reminded me of home ( don’t tell my mom ) .. I will be back soon
Great Thai food in good location by City Market.
My group had wanted to go to Minskey's but the wait was too long for our schedule. We decided on Thai food on the fly. We arrived about an hour before the restaurant closed at 10PM on a busy Saturday night.
The hostess seated us within ten minutes of arriving. Our server also came to take our order very quickly. After ordering, our food came incredibly fast for how busy the restaurant seemed. It couldn't have been more than ten minutes from ordering to arriving. We were only in the restaurant for about an hour, tops.
We got the appetizer platter, the papaya salad, and three pad thai servings with different proteins. Everything was delicious and very, very fresh. The "hot" level was perfect for me, although it was a growing, lingering heat.
The portions were very generous for the price. We shared some things and I had enough to take home for three more substantial meals. Had I been more conservative with the portions I probably could have gotten four or five meals out of most of a single serving of pad thai and half of the papaya salad.
The only issue that we ran into was that we didn't get our Thai iced tea until we alerted our server to its absence. However, our server brought the tea immediately after notice and was very apologetic to have forgotten it.
I highly recommend Phikul Thai Bistro! I had never had traditional Thai food until that visit and I'm very glad that we forewent pizza for something new. I hope to return very soon!
Loved the food and enjoyed the experience, we will definitely be back. Can't believe I haven't been here before as I love Thai food.
Service was fast and very friendly, and the food came out quite quick. I'm vegan and asked the waitress for advice and she was able to expertly advise dishes that could be modified, and then provided a recommendation of the massaman curry (which was what I hoped she would say) -- it was delicious!
Great atmosphere outstanding food can’t say enough. Quaint private break out spaces, dimly lit, appears more up scale than typical Thai. Secret is out!!
Pad Thai, fire
It was good nice cool peaceful place for lunch and small business meetings
Dined in and our food came out super fast and was very tasty. Definitely will be back!
Not really sure what their business model is but they don't really seem to be fond of having guests dine in. When they first opened they had a gentleman who was great and he took good care of everything. For about a year now he's been gone and the girls that work there are not attentive at ALL!! It's not an understaffing issue either, because most of the time I eat there I'm the only one in the restaurant. Food is good though..
The best Thai food!
We are traveling in town and was craving for Thai food. We did not set high hopes because some of the Thai restaurant we've been to are not that good. We have compared it to the one we know and loved to where we came from and this one is by far the closest. Their curry is very good and silky, not watery almost like gravy type. The crab fried rice is my favorite and they use real crab meat. The service is also good.
This place was incredible. No joke, some of the best Thai food I’ve had in all of the Midwest. But don’t test your luck with the Thai hot! It’s no joke, even for someone born eating spicy Arab food my whole life. It was pure pain. Delicious delicious pain 🔥
We went on a Sunday at 6 with a party of 4. We had an odd experience - we were the only people in the restaurant and there were a ton of takeout orders and only one server/runner, so we were understanding when it took a long time to get service. We ordered drinks and appetizers and those came out in a reasonable time and were generally fine. Then we waited a very long time before our server came to take our entree order, which would have been alright except that in this length of time 2 other tables had been seated and one group was boxing their leftovers and the other was eating their meal. Once we ordered our food came out quickly and was good. Overall we were there for an hour & 45 minutes.
Really excellent green papaya salad.
So very tasty. Perfect amount of heat. The service could have been better. We weren’t asked how the food was or if we wanted refills on our drinks. The place wasn’t busy with dine in customers but take out was busy! We will be back.
We have been to Phikul many times and enjoyed our experience, until tonight. All dishes ordered, with the exception of the crab rangoon, where terrible. I ask to send one dish back, to which, I was informed by the waitress that she would pay for it for us. I was thinking language translation not quite right. I never imagined a business would dock a waitress for a customer sending back poorly prepared food. I noted that the cook in the back talked very disrespectfully to the waitress to the point she was in tears. When the waitress came back to the table to collect payment, I told her that if there was a problem that I would pay for the dish I sent back as i did not want her in trouble or to be shorted money. She was very grateful and I was outraged at how this business treats their employees. Unacceptable!! I will not go back. No human being should ever be treated that way and businesses should never pass their business risk on to there employees. Returned food items are a cost of doing business and employees should not shoulder that cost.
The worst of the worst!!!!!!!!!!!’
I've done dine in and carry out. Service is impeccable on both accounts. I lived in Thailand for a year and this is some of the best I've found outside of the country. Will recommend to friends.
Had the Thia fried rice. Wanting to remember my younger years from another life, I asked for it "Thai hot". The cook hooked it up and it was probably the best & closest Thai food I have had to what I ordered off the street carts in Kanchanaburi! The only way it could have been more authentic Thai food, was if they played Loso on the music system in the restaurant! Thank you all for such an amazing meal!!!
Some of the crispiest and tastiest spring rolls in KC!
Great service and the food was what we were looking for.
Food is very underwhelming for the price and doesn’t taste authentic.
Worst service ever. Only half the appetizers came out at the beginning of the meal and the other half came out after dinner entree was already served. Keep in mind it was two of the same exact item (appetizer platter). Then only part of the dinner entrees came out and the others never did, so some people in our party did not even get to eat. Spice levels are also not consistent either. Ordered one thing medium spicy and another hot level spicy and they both tasted as spicy as the hot. Waitress never came back to ask how was the food. Also, she never came back to refill waters. The kid’s food was too spicy for them and they really needed more water. I even picked up an empty pitcher and brought it to the waitress, saying very nicely “I know you’re busy but when you can, please fill this for us, and we can fill our own glasses?” Even with that she didn’t fill the pitcher or come to fill our drinks at the table. All of the people in our party that actually received their food finished eating and the others food had still not arrived. Then we finally just got up and walked to the counter to tell them we need the bill to leave and to cancel the food they hadn’t brought out to us. They got an attitude and asked “what did we want to do or what do we need?” like we were at fault for something. I then replied to them that whatever food they have cooked already, we will pay for, and what has not been cooked, to take it off the bill. That we were just wanting to go. One lady said sorry and another man in the kitchen said sorry we’re busy. (We were one of two tables dining in at the time and the rest were togo orders. ) As I went outside and stood to wait for the rest of party, another customer who had been waiting for his togo, came out and told me I have way more patience than he did, and if that happened to him he would have just walked out. I am super tolerant and understanding of restaurants being short staffed these days but wow what a terrible experience here.
The food was good, except for the hair that was in it. Also, they messed up my order with another person! That person got my order and I got their order.
Excellent, delicious food.
having grown up eating thai food, the food here is comparatively decent compared to some other thai restaurants i've had in america. portions wise rather okay, but could be better.
service here however wasnt the greatest experience. the server was rude and brought us takeout boxes but dropped the lids but still gave it to us.
Great food!!!
Absolutely delicious. We are obsessed with their curries, pad Thai and Tom kha gai. Not cheap, but portions are large and quality is excellent.
Deeeeeeelicious!! We went here because one of our favorite Thai restaurants was closed. We order the Tiger Cry Beef, Crab Rangoon, Panang Curry with chicken and also the Yellow Curry with chicken. Nice large portions and great flavor with every dish! We will definitely be returning!
The Pad See Ew was terrible. Completely bitter tasting. First Thai restaurant to ever get a negative from me. My wife's Panang Curry was just ok. At least it tasted right but zero vegetables? Won't be back. Way too many other choices.
Just an FYI, the panang curry is very good but it only comes with the protein no veggies...super weird just curry sauce and chunks of tofu.
Just ok
Where is Edward!!!??
I came to dine in and come to find out Edward doesn’t work here anymore. Service was not the same. The lady that was serving tables wasn’t friendly. I ask for napkins and she tossed them on the table. The food was good but the customer service wasn’t great and I honestly won’t be back to dine in. Only take out.
Dine in isn’t the same without Edward.
Great food. The spicy pad Thai was JUST right and the meat was well cooked
Excellent service & wonderful food! Doesn’t get any better than this!
Edward gave us the greatest service and the food was phenomenal. Highly recommend.
Amazing Pad Thai. The noddles are home made fresh! Best Crab Rangoon!
Great food and service. They one star reviews are most likely from the competition.
edward is the man and the service is phenomenal
Great food and friendly service.
I would strongly recommend this place!! The food is delicious and the staff is so friendly (specifically Edward 😊) Overall a 10/10!
I was visiting from out of town and my sister took me here the first week I arrived. It was so good that we went again the following week. From the moment we walked In, the staff was very friendly and seated us right away. Edward was very attentive and made sure we felt comfortable and satisfied with our visit.
Both times I visited I ordered chicken pad Thai. The first time I ordered it a level “hot” and the second time I ordered it a level “Thai hot”. I’m Mexican and LOVEE spicy food, so I’m always a bit skeptical when restaurants say their food is spicy. But this place means it! If you like spicy food I would recommend getting the level “hot”. Level “Thai hot” is great as well, just be cautious you will be drinking plenty of water, but it’s delicious nonetheless. Also the soft spring roles are really good!!
Overall 10/10! Definitely stop by 🙌🏽
Amazing service! I ordered take out and the door dash forgot an item so the staff put in an IOU. The next day I got my item and another on the house for the trouble.
Super sweet staff and amazing food, I lived in Asia and traveled to Thailand and have missed the food so much. And this place is just what I need. So authentic and delicious!
I never leave reviews so i mean it when I say this place has the best Thai food I've ever had. To be specific the best shrimp panang EVER try it and support this restaurant
Great authentic Thai restaurant. This is the best Thai we've had since we arrived in the Midwest. Great Tom ka that comes out in a the authentic pot and the Thai fried rice was excellent. Staff was friendly and service was extremely quick. Decor is nice and modern, a great place for some great Thai food
Delicious, good value, and thank you for serving me quickly on my lunch break!
If you want it really spicy, just ask for it
Nice and friendly service good business.
Best Thai foods in kS , thanks Edward for ur recommendation basil fish.
Good food good service best pad Thai seafood . Edward the best sever.
Good food and great service! Eddie was amazing!
Delicious food and wonderful service!
The best Thai food in Kansas City. Service is excellent and friendly. Food will surpass your expectations.
The food here is really good and Edward is the best! Very friendly and helpful. I’ve had quite a few items on the menu and I’ve been satisfied everytime.
I love everything about this place! The atmosphere is cozy, the food is phenomenal, and everyone there is so nice, especially Edward! He always takes care of his customers. If you go there, try the vegetable fried rice with chicken or the green curry. The ingredients are so fresh! And if you’re nervous about spicy food, just request mild! This is my favorite place in KC.
Edward was absolutely amazing and the food was delicious. Check it out.
All of the curry and pad thai are DELICIOUS! This is the best hidden gym in KC that is right off the street car. Highly recommend if you like Thai food! I would have taken a picture but I started eating as soon as the food came to the table 😂.
Staff was friendly, great environment. The food is delicious and authentic. Love this place!
came her tonight for the first time eating Thai food and it was absolutely awesome! Edward was our serve an he did a really good job
Fantastic food and service, whether I'm dining in or picking up. I've ordered several items since they've opened, and I've never been disappointed; although, I'm partial to the red curry!
DO NOT GO HERE. Zero customer service. I've been here twice to give them the benefit of the doubt me and they've disappointed me both times. They've gotten my order wrong on both occasions and do not care what the issue is. The only solution they ever have is "it's okay we will get you a new order." The issue is time consuming and extreme carelessness. If you want good thai food just go to BARAMEE THAI on Baltimore ave. I have never had an issue there and the service has always been exceptional. DO NOT GO HERE.
Edward is the best server!!! We got the green curry and the chicken pad Thai & it was delicious!! Highly recommend!!
Our meals at Phikul Thai Bistro were delightfully fresh and beautifully prepared and presented. We agreed we'll both opt for mild next time. We both like spicy foods, but the medium was pushing our thresholds.
The dining rooms are tidy and compact. The service is good. Phikul has easily become our go-to for Thai.
Prices are a little high and food is just average.
The food was amazing! I'm so glad that we found a Thai restaurant that is close by. We won't have to drive to OP anymore for some authentic Thai food. Everything that we ordered was delicious 😋. And service was fast and friendly. We will definitely be back multiple times!
Best Thai food in kc. I order frequently and the curry and pad Thai are consistently delicious. Takes no time to place a pick up order either. Highly recommend
Great food and service. Thai fried rice was delicious.
I had a fabulous Massaman curry medium to hot spice with chicken. I loved it! It was perfect! I’m so happy to find a great Thai restaurant in my neighborhood. I’ll be back!
Delicious Thai food and excellent service! My fiance and I visited here during our trip to City Market, and we will definitely be returning customers!
Excellent meal. So fresh.
So delicious!!!
Ordered here twice in the past week. Both meals have been great. Glad this restaurant has opened in the neighborhood. Great meals.
