Welcome to Mela Thai Cuisine! We invite you to join us and explore the diverse and exquisite tastes of Thai cuisine, where every dish tells a story of tradition, passion, and authenticity. You don't need to travel far East to experience the real thing; let your senses revel in the vibrant and tantalizing world of Thailand right here in West St. Paul.
Came in thanks to the good reviews and was not disappointed. We shared the cream cheese wontons which were exactly the way I love them, small and heavy on the cream cheese instead of a lot of dough. My husband had the drunken noodles with shrimp and enjoyed them. I had the chicken laab, which was the best I've had in the Cities. Very flavorful, the mint and basil were bright and it was served with a wedge of iceberg lettuce. I would come back for that dish alone, but even after one visit, I know we'll visit again to try the rest of the menu. Excellent!
This was me and my husband’s second time coming to this location. Our first visit would have been 5/5 stars because of the food, and the friendly patrons. That is what made me and my husband want to come back for our lunch breaks. Unfortunately our 2nd visit was not as great as our first visit so it is unlikely we will return unless we are really craving this type of food on the West Side. There are not many restaurants like this on the West Side. The food is really well prepared and tasty. We have had their fried rice, chicken wings, green curry, beef noodle soup, and a few other items. The atmosphere is spread out with nice greenery through the restaurant. The service on our first visit was fine, but was slow. I attribute this to it being lunch time which is understandable. The service on our second visit was not good. It took forever for them to take our order, and bring out our food. They never came to check on us, not even once and we had to grab people to get the check, water, boxes etc. At one point I asked my waitress for chili oil and she instructed me to grab it myself. This was different than the first time because they brought it to me the first time I was here. I didn’t think too much of it until I saw chili oil and other items being brought to every other table. As I am writing this review I have been sitting for 15 minutes, and no one has come to give me a check, ask if I need boxes, or anything. I had to go up to pay. I also asked if one of the items on the menu had an ingredient I was allergic to and the waitress said she didn’t know and she wasn’t very willing to ask the kitchen if the ingredient was used. I usually would get Thai tea to go, but decided not to this time because of how slow it was and the poor service. Last time when I got the Thai tea it was decent.
Fantastic service from Snow!Excellent Food!! Shrimp wrap appetizer and the special avocado wrap were the perfect start to an excellent meal of Green curry and the generals chicken. We will definitely be back.
This was our first time and we only came because we got the menu today in the mail. Didn't even know this place was here! Very glad we came.
I had the Pad Woon Senn spice level 2 (enough to make your nose run but not painful!) and the Fresh Spring Rolls, and a Thai coffee.
The spring rolls were my favorite part, the mint and cilantro were bright and the whole thing tasted super refreshing. The dipping sauce was also top notch. These were not spicy at all but didn't need to be, the flavor was there.
The inside of the restaurant is nice and bright. When I arrived I sat myself at one of the booths for dine-in. Everything was really clean as well. I will be visiting or ordering again in the near future.
This is a great Thai restaurant. Three of us ate dinner there and we really enjoyed it. You can pick the protein you want and they will customize the dish as needed. The heat level is 1 to 5 with 5 being Thai hot (per the server). I like very hot (spicy) food so I ordered level 4 and it was good but not hot (no hiccups or sweating). I will get level 5 next time, but my wife got level 3 and it was quite hot to her and said she would not get it any hotter. The waitstaff was very friendly and the service was quick. We were there about 6pm on a Thursday and there were not many people at the tables but they had a lot of takeaway orders. I am looking forward to eating here again!
I go to Mela once a week for the Pad Thai, spice level 5. It’s the only time I go out to eat and is a weekly treat. I love them, the staff is always very friendly. I have celiac disease, but have never had an issue with cross contamination. I would say that Mela is both celiac and gluten free safe in my experience and even has vegan options so overall is very dietary restriction friendly. I will say that sometimes it’s less spicy than others, I order level 5 but get what seems like a level 2. I just leave a note in the comments that say I want smoke to come out of ears from how hot it is and then I get the level of spice I’m looking for 😂
It’s fantastic and really the only place I feel I can trust with allergens. I cook everything from scratch and only eat out if I can’t make a better version myself. I recommend them to everyone. I have order once a week since moving to the area in June :)
Went to eat here with my Mom. We wanted pho but they only have 1 kind which is beef, green onions, and cilantro. Comes with a plate of bean sprouts, lime, and jalapeño like most restaurants do. Broth is sweet which is to my liking.
Spring roll is not really to our taste but they tried their best to accommodate us. Types of spring rolls are regular but all noodles replaced by veggies and other type is noodles with avacado only. We asked to replace avacado with shrimp but it seems still lots of veggies and only a little amount of noddles. My guess is that the veggies are better for health than noodles.
Amazing Thai food. Recommend the Pad Thai and Chicken Curry.
Padthai and curry is bussin
So good! Best papaya salad I have had in years.
Niggardly

Amazing, just amazing.

A wonderful asset to Robert Street! Great curries and kind staff!
Ordered delivery a second time, love that their sesame chicken comes with veggies, pad thai was good, and they have a wonderful avocado spring roll option. big portions and fresh ingredients. Order was prepared quickly.
The Salmon pumpkin curry was excellent

Quiet , clean, dinning room. Went for Fresh Spring rolls , & Eggrolls. Delicious *
The Thai Noodle soup is out of this world. It is essentially Pho, but dare I say… better?!
Great service and great food
Great lunch specials on Favorite dishes. I had masaman curry. My coworkers also all enjoyed their dishes. We had a large party of 12 people and the waitress confirmed each our orders and spice level, which was spot on.
Great take out Thai. Some of the best Thai food in the St. Paul area. Prices are reasonable. Dining in is fairly basic.
The food was very good, I had Sweet &Sour Chicken

Today was our second visit here in two weeks. Between both visits, we ordered the fresh spring rolls, fried wontons, orange chicken, lo mein with chicken, pad bai Kara Pao with chicken and basil fried rice. I love how clean and calm the restaurant is. The food was fresh and cooked to order. Service was decent and staff were pleasant.
Decent food, reasonable price.
In my rice I bit down on a pebble (small rock)
The menu was small and the waitress wasn’t friendly didn’t refill water and didn’t came check up on us it wasn’t even busy. The food didn’t taste good and it was over price.
Basic atmosphere, service is usually pretty quick. They do a lot of Take out so it's usually busy. Love the Food! Curries, soups, stir fry and lots of Noodles. Hidden gem that I recommend often. A family Favorite!
Best Thai food I've ever had! I've tried over half their menu by now and there's not one thing I wouldn't recommend. Love this place!
The service could certainly be better. Once you get your food. You're on your own. The pot stickers were tasty. Sweet & sour pork, delicious. General Tso's chicken was very salty. Portions are generous and everything is fairly priced
Everything is delicious🤤!
I don't know who is eating this garbage but I ordered the pad thai and the general tso's. Both were so full of salt that I couldn't take more than one bite. I honestly haven't tasted something so disgusting in my life.
My wife, kids, and I have been ordering from Meli Thai from the beginning and it has slowly gotten worse the longer they’ve been in business. I’m not writing to be mean, but to share our experience over the years. In the beginning, it was good. The spices were okay and if I asked for mild, my wife and kids would eat it.
Then they changed and their mild was too strong for my kids. I liked it, but they couldn’t eat it. So, the next time I ordered, I asked about that, and they said they would put in extra coconut milk to make it not as spicy for my children. It Would have been nice for them to tell me this before we ordered and spent $50 on dinner that my kids cannot eat.
We ordered again last night. And I asked for no spices with extra coconut milk for my kids. And it was so spicy. They cannot eat it. So we are back again to it being extremely too spicy. I love spices. And usually order medium to hot. But this one was even too hot for me. I personally cannot even eat it.
I am not a type of person to write reviews. This is my second review ever I have ever written. But I hope they can fix this. Because every time we go, it gets worse and worse and it’s to a point where I’m gonna stop going.
Really good dine in spot for this area. They're tough to come by and this place does not disappoint.
Authentic Thai Food. My mom and I were surprised when we tried it. Worth every penny.
This is the second time we have come here for dinner. The food was fabulous, flavorful sauces, crispy vegetables, and an abundance of meats. The pork egg rolls are our favorites, and a must have each time we come.
1st time here and pad thai was 10 out of 10. Will be back.
Mela is a family favorite, we were looking for a new Thai restaurant when we moved into the area, and this is definitely the best. The curries are fantastic but we usually get the Pad Thai, purely out of familiarity. The massaman curry is out of this world, too. The spice here is serious, so if you love food that brings the heat this will definitely be a winner for you. Milder dishes are definitely available and other dishes can be tamed in flavor for those with less adventurous palates.
Overall I would highly recommend.
Fast service. Love the panang curry there.
Everything was sooo good thank you guys
I had the Tom Yum soup. Very salty. Salt over powered all the flavors of lemon grass and everything.
The best curry I have had in a long time! They are not shy with the ingredients. Can't wait for the next tikme I am back in the MSP area!
Large portions with any addition or substitution you like. Allergy friendly. Fast and hot everytime.
Ate here for the first time this week and had an enjoyable experience. The restaurant is simple but clean, our server was friendly and the prices very reasonable. I can't speak to the whole menu but the pad Thai with tofu, cream cheese wontons and mango sticky rice were all fantastic! I didn't know what to expect from the outside and I wouldn't say this is an overly fancy place but I definitely will eat here again.
I make a very good chicken soup, but I would literally work in the kitchen free for a day to learn the secret of their broth for the Chicken Wanton soup. Fragrant, light, and consistently delicious. Also their foods always look so fresh, no wilted veggies
I ordered pad see ew with chicken and shrimp and it was so good. Noodles were seasoned and cooked to perfection chicken and shrimp was awesome
Food is delicious. Lacking in atmosphere but who cares when the food is so amazing.
Friendly staff, clean restaurant. A good variety and you choose the protein that you want for the dishes, including tofu.
Melas always makes your meal fresh 🔥🥹 With the freshest ingredients available you will never leave unsatisfied I promise🙏🏾❤️
Great food. As with most great Thai places, consider your spice tolerance carefully.
The best Thai food in the twin cities AND very fair prices
Great food, service, and prices. The Thai food was delicious and served nice and hot (temperature wise). It came out quickly and the spice level was perfect for us. Waitress came around to refill water glasses without us having to flag her down. The menu includes a photo of each dish with a good description of the ingredients. Prices were $11-14 range for entres and $6.99 for appetizers. The decor is simple, but clean. Everything else makes up for that. Go here!
Affordable menu- generous portions. Nice owners.
The food is good and it is SPICY. Careful what spice you ask for. A mild spice in their food is perfect for those who love a bit of heat. Their Beef Salad is my favorite and I'm quite addicted to it. I love that they have the option to add extra protein (for a little fee ofcourse) . Fried rice is really good too and so is their pad thai. I will definitely go back. I highly recommend trying/giving them a try if you have not yet.
We order the green curry for pick up - it is amazing. It is the the ideal for us. While there tends to be a little variation (sometimes very little meat or the seasonings to broth ratio shifts a bit) it's always delicious. Tip: order an additional rice if you order the curries.
Unglaublich gute Thai Küche 👌🏼
This place is phenomenal. Cheap prices for how much food they give. Great spice level that didnt take away from flavor. I have tried their curries and stir fries and both are the best ive had in West St Paul.
Don't go when you're in a hurry ( service is friendly but slow) but DO go for the great food and be sure you order the Thai Red Tea.
I decided to give this place another chance for their pho, but unfortunately, it wasn't as good as I had hoped. I really regretted my decision and wished I had gone to my usual spot in North Saint Paul instead.
I found their online menu to be quite misleading and confusing. For example, their rice noodle soup was described as a classic noodle soup with beef, meatball, and vegetables on the side. The price was already listed at $13.99+, but I wasn't sure if was consider the 'combo.' To my surprise, there was an additional $3 charge for selecting the 'combo', which made the total price of a bowl of pho without any size mentioned at $16. I was confused and didn't know if I would get meat at all if I didn't choose a specific kind. I chose chicken, assuming that it would come with beef and meatball as described, but to my dismay, it only came with chicken. I was disappointed and felt misled by the description. The 'combo' didn't provide any additional information, so I didn't know what to expect. I hope they update their menu to provide more details about what the combo comes with. Unfortunately, my lunch was disappointing, and I don't think I'll be coming back for a third time.
I prefer other Thai restaurants in the Twin Cities that tastes more authentic. Service is usually slow and also not a fan of their egg rolls. Convenient location though

Good food and good price
Pad thai was very good and the chicken curry was on point. Service was dismal and is very cafeteria looking inside. Not sure how this rated so high but food is legit so just get it to go!
Very good food, and spice levels were perfect. however, drunken noodles could have been more flavorful. But the Pad Thai was perfect. We will definitely return in the future.
Relaxing. I’d take pictures but we ate it all. Egg rolls are perfect peanut curry and beef lo mein
Absolutely delicious food, good lunch specials. The music choice is odd but otherwise 5/5!
we have been here 4 or 5 times now after discovering this restaurant about a month ago. We have tried many different things and everything has been absolutely delicious! Very authentic and the flavors are unique and wonderful. Nice staff too. Highly recommended!!
Awesome delicious food! Great vegetarian and vegan options
Went there for lunch, had the pad Thai and Thai iced tea. The tea wasn't my personal favorite but the pad Thai was really good. The lunch specials aren't available as take out but it's only 2 bucks more for the full size anyway.
Nice service and great food!
We like supporting smaller independent businesses and this one is well worth a look. While there is not much of an ambiance and some of the staff barely speak any English, the food really shines. Everything we have tried there - from appetizers to main course were spectacular. Excellent spicing and flavors abound. Highly recommend for any groups.
The food was delish I got something curry egg rolls and spicy chx wings. The flavor 😋!
Great food!
So glad to have found this place, basil fried rice and red curry were phenomenal.
Awesome food! Get takeout from here all the time. Everything we have ever ordered is delicious and filling.
The best! Wonderful egg rolls. Don’t bother with LeeAnn Chin’s.
Probably my favorite restaurant in West St. Paul. Always fresh ingredients. Always friendly staff. Always quick with the service, too. My goal is to try everything at least once. Then try it again with the squid option XD
Holy Cow. This place is delicious. Their cream cheese wontons may be the best I've ever had. Their pineapple fried rice was sooo flavorful, and the pad thai was spicy and excellent! You must eat here.
Nice place, good food, fun staff.
Food is so fresh and delicious every time I come here.
Was on this side of town and got the chance to try this place out. Everything ordered was great and so was the staff and service! Pad thai, pineapple fried rice, masaman curry, yellow curry, cc wonton, eggrolls was yummo-- just sad it isn't convenient to go here as often as I would if it were on the east side of saint paul, but I'd probably still go back sooner than later.
Normally very good. I drive an hour to get this because it is THAT good. However, I am not sure if there is new staff as my recent experience fell short of there normal. I wish I could give 4.5 stars.
Either way my order was wrong and chicken was very very overcooked. Rice lacked its normal flavor. I will say I noticed new staff when I went in yesterday.
Very very good!! Must go !
What a delightful Asian restaurant. The service was prompt and friendly. Very clean establishment. Food was all top notch and fresh. I would surely come again.
Love this place I go with my girlfriend several times a month and will keep going, employees were kind and fast with the food while taking out!
I love the food here! It's delicious without being too spicy for my low heat tolerance :-) My favorites are Pad Woon Sen and Panang Curry. The Thai tea is so tasty. The servers Yu and Phoebe are so kind and attentive!
I had the Red Curry and it was one of the best I've ever had. I've also come here before and had the green, also very very good. Overall this is one of the best Thai places I've been to in the cities.
My server was named Yu, and she was the highlight of the experience. She was the one who recommended me the red curry. The service was excellent. She was very nice, friendly and prompt. Even though it was busy, she still was very attentive and made us feel important. I would definitely come back.
I have been to many Thai Cusine restaurants in the cities and in other states and I must say that the meal I had at Melas was definitely very delicious and well balanced. I had Pad Thai (chicken) and asked for the hot level to be a 3 and it was that perfect level. You can definitely taste all the wonderful ingredients which are combined so perfectly! I also had the cream cheese wonton and surprisingly they were not under fried orfried too long, they were done to perfection! (to be honest many places tend to under fry them) Definitely will dine here again!
The restaurant is quiet and clean. The service is lovely, very timely and considerate to the customer; they appear happy to serve. The food is outstanding. The BEST Thai cuisine we have had. This place is a gem.
Good food
A very relaxed feeling atmosphere with subtle Thailand 🇹🇭 vibes! Shiny reflective tables and new booths really add a touch of class to this little known mini mall gem. Literally had my food in 3-5 mins after sitting down!! THE best cream cheese wontons I've ever eaten before in my life. The chicken satay was also a phenomenal choice.👌 I'll definitely be returning again soon for high quality food journey!
Great food and prices. Curries are great, but get the whole snapper. It's enough for two people and it's absolutely delicious!
I can’t speak for the whole menu, but the drunken noodles were the best I’ve had in the twin cities. For that alone, I’ll be back without a second thought. Next time, I’ll try something in addition and update my review if needed. Take others advice and know that they don’t play MN nice when it comes to heat/spice- it was legitimately hot and I usually have to add chili peppers to my Asian food. As an edit, have been back several times and still find their food to be the best Kudos!
Just moved to West St. Paul. This is our new go-to Thai!
Love the Pumpkin Salmon Curry!
Outstanding food at a price point significantly less than anything comparable I'm aware of closer to Minneapolis. I get take-out from Mela Thai regularly and almost never go to any other restaurant in the area unless they're closed.
I love Pad Thai and was hoping this would be on my list of favorites after reading the reviews but I wasn’t a fan. The chicken was off tasting and made the entire dish smell and taste off. I had to drown mine in lime and spices to be able to eat it. Also felt the waiter was a bit pushy and unwilling to explain things. Definitely won’t be coming back for Pad Thai.
Best food!!! Super delicious fast service love eating here ❤️
This is a great Thai restaurant. Don't sleep on the pho here! They call it rice noodle soup on the menu, but the broth was incredibly flavourful and the steak was lean but still tender - some other places you'll get a lot of fat or tendon, but not here! Some of the best pho I've had outside University Ave.
A must try!
Staff and service were wonderful. Excellent pad thai! I'll be back.
Very good fast friendly staff delicious food reasonable prices their lunch specials are were the perfect serving size for a lunch but jam packed with flavor their spring rolls are on point so flavorful
Good Thai food.
I took food to go for lunch and it was quick and tasty.
The food tastes great except it was cold I literally waited an hour and 20 minutes for my food I was only on my break which is in half hour I decided I'll take 10 more minutes on my break I went inside after 40 minutes the young lady said it's still not done giving about 5 more minutes I go back in she said I'm sorry still not done I go to work hour later she said it just came out I was so disappointed upset and I also told him I have to go back to work and I'm only on my lunch why take my money. And too expensive
Very good Thai food! The curries are excellent.
Ordered the Basil Pad Thai, was excellent fresh vegetables, flavorful. My mom had the green curry which she enjoyed. Was clean inside and friendly service. I will be returning to this location.
Good food and good service, but I wish they had liquor license
Stellar
Delicious and close to my home. I've lived here for 10 years and have never tried this place, although I believe it's changed hands in that time. They had quite a few vegan offerings, which is why Thai is usually a good choice for me. I had the Coconut Green Curry and it was delicious. A nice setting and friendly staff.
Absolutely delicious Thai food. Definitely a must if you are craving great Asian cuisine and are in the area. Do check them out. You won't be disappointed.
My first time here, I liked it. Pad Thai and pan seared dumplings, both very good. Service was quick and I will go back often.
First and last time eating here. Food portion size are very small for being $11-$13 a plate. The $3 sticky rice is the biggest scam in sticky rice history. For$3, your sticky rice is about the size of a deck of cards. You can get literally 20x the amount at Hmong Village for$5. There was literally ONE rice noodle in our spring rolls. The rest was lettuce and carrots.
Such delicious thai food at a decent price and you get so much food. Spring rolls are super refreshing and the pad thai is delicious. Stellar food and experience.
Had the salmon pumpkin curry, it was exquisite.
Delicious food and lovely staff
First time there, it was awesome!! Will definitely stop back.
Think you know the best thai food in the twin cities? Well you're WRONG. Because this place is the BEST
Great flavor and spicy curry. 10/10
I had spring rolls and the pad thai with chicken today. It was delicious. I will be going back in the near future.
The yellow curry is awesome, and great customer service.! Loved it
Great Thai Food, located right in wsp!!
The sweet basil fried rice is to Die for, and the drunken noodles are excellent also.
Great service, and great price. Thank you we will be back.
The food was good. I ordered the mock duck with tofucurry which was tasty but very soupy and had only very over cooked broccoli but no other vegetables. The price was slightly too high for the lack of food.
The food was fast. A child was taking the orders by herself. Very polite and nice.
I would revisit if I was in the area if I needed a thai fix.
Excellent
extremely POOR - on preparing ONLINE ORDERS- I am missing chicken, which i paid for. I pay EXTRA for vegetables and it WAS NOT ADDED
Yum. Good pad thai- sweet, served with lemon. My friend had sesame chicken and it had bright fresh peppers. I've been waiting for a thai place in this area where I work. No nice to have this option!
I’m a curry fanatic. From Thailand to Kowloon, Frisco to NYC, I’ve eaten curry dishes all over the world. I have never tasted curry as good as the chicken curry I had at this place today. And what’s more, it’s blocks from my house. Their curry has a sweet-heat to it that will knock your socks off! Highly recommend. And the spring rolls can’t be beat, either.
Pad ginger w pork is in the pantheon of great West St Paul dishes.
Always our fave! We love the Thai Tea!
After several visits, this is a place I recommend for authentic Thai food and great service.
Excellent food and service.
Highly recommend the massaman curry.
Food was good. We both enjoy spicy food but was glad we went with medium on the spice level. We ordered the pork egg rolls, Szechuan, and Pad Thai. Everything was pretty good.
A hidden gem. Great ti iced tea and Shrimp curry was the bomb.
delicious food, friendly service and clean cozy dining room. will definitely return!
Picked up Pad Thai and mango sticky rice a couple weeks ago! Very tasty. We will definitely be back
Ordered Basil Chicken Fried Rice to go 🔥amazing. The portion sizes are huge!
Red curry is so good. I get it every time.
So happy that a friend of mine recommended this restaurant. Everything was delicious.. we ordered egg drop soup with tofu, spring rolls, beef lo mein, fried rice, and schezwan chicken with white rice. All for under 50 dollars! There were leftovers for a couple of days. Will definitely visit again.
Great environment, great food, great service! This is one of my favorite Thai restaurants!
