Serving Award Winning Thai cuisine since 1983. Offering a full bar, catering, private party room, happy hour, delivery and more. Special events including Thai New Year celebration in April and cooking classes in the fall and spring. Wedding and corporate full service catering too.
We hired Sawatdee to cater our wedding and were absolutely blown away by the quality of their service. From the beginning, Cyndy helped us work out *every* single detail, which is saying a lot because we had a lot of questions and requests. She was always responsive, available, and helpful. The cocktail hour spread was so beautifully laid out. They printed a menu for our guests and brought extra spices and sauces on the side for the buffet dinner. They even cut our wedding cake for us. The staff were so efficient and it was awesome seeing them have a good time at our wedding. To top it off, the food at our wedding was the best we've ever had from Sawatdee - guests, even including our grandmothers and my great grandmother, went out of their way to rave to us about how much they loved the food. We ate the leftovers at work for lunch for a week and it made me feel emotional every time. I can't recommend Sawatdee enough if you are looking for something other than dry Italian chicken or steak for your event catering. You won't regret it, and your guests won't either!
Within 10 minutes of placing our order, bro, I kid you not, I look over and there’s a cylindrical server robot slowly approaching with our food. I almost laughed, was kinda startled, and honestly delighted. Aromatic, glistening, Studio Ghibli-esque dishes come rolling out on this robot, followed by our server. From start to finish, it was an eye-widening dining experience for all the right reasons; Sawatdee absolutely delivered with its enchanting atmosphere, friendly service, and mouth-watering food. I highly recommend the Sarong Sawatdee Special, chicken satay, tom kha, and papaya salad. Delicious, authentic, and really hit the spot. Good quantity for the price too. Hope to be back soon to try more of the menu. “Thai it! You’ll like it!”Thanks Sawatdee!
If you are scouting through dozens of reviews (because it's hard to trust wedding websites these days) trying to decide if you should have Sawatdee cater an important event, for example, a wedding, like I did when I was looking for wedding caterers, then here is your review. Go for it. 10/10. Cyndy knocked it out of the park for our wedding. The food was amazing and people were so excited to eat something besides champagne chicken. We got the 3 entree package with the china add-on and it was worth every penny. And honestly, it was very reasonable. Cyndy helped make our wedding memorable and fun. She was also our most communicative vendor. She always responded to emails. We were so impressed with everything she did for us. We couldn’t have been happier.
I’ve read the reviews on this place and I’ll say this. If you’re planning on dining in, you’ll feel very alone. I’ve dined in here a couple of times and every single time, it felt like we were the only ones in there. I have a feeling most people order take out from here. I have ordered takeout more than dine in.
I will mention, out of the 10+ years I’ve been ordering take out from here, the Pad Thai is the most consistent thing on their menu (and is what they’re known for). I’ve had Pad Thai all over the world and I constantly base my reviews off of this one because IMO, this one is the best. Most restaurants that serve Pad Thai serve it with a lime and this is one of the few places that serves it with Lemon. If changes the whole flavor of the dish and I absolutely love it.
During my visit to Sawatdee, I opted for the Rama Thai Delight, which was quite good. The dish boasted a well-balanced combination of peanut sauce and fresh steamed spinach, making it a standout. Although I didn’t try the Sweet and Sour Chicken myself, my friend enjoyed it, and it was served with rice which seemed to complement the dish well.
However, the service was underwhelming. Our server lacked enthusiasm and didn’t offer helpful recommendations or information about the spice levels, which detracted from our experience. Also, contrary to my expectations set by another location, there were no robot servers at this Minneapolis location, which was a bit disappointing. Given this experience, if I decide to visit Sawatdee again, I would likely choose the Maple Grove location instead, which I've heard has these unique features.
Excellent service and amazing food.
Great vegetarian options

Literally my fave restaurant as a local. Ask for Juan. Get the cashew stir fry. Enough said

No utensils, napkin, or even chop sticks with an Uber Eats order (Pad Thai)? Front desk at my hotel had something, luckily. Still, why not throw in a napkin or two and chop sticks? And no hot sauce either? Just seems standard on a delivery order. Sadly, Uber Eats delivery person didn’t look in the bag either.
We ordered take out for new years day and the food was excellent. Good sized portions, spiced to each individuals preference.
Perfect fried-rice
Coolest server I've had in a long time. Arrived with my husband and kids. We were headed to a Guthrie show and wanted to eat quickly but didn't want to put on the pressure. Server noticed our tickets on the table and said he'd try to get out food out soon so we could get to the show! And he did!... So thoughtful and accommodating!!!
I have actually been eating at this Sawatdee for many years, but had had some very meh experiences a handful of years ago, So hadn't been in while. Was impressed this time! Tried the green curry and it was Solid!
The lunch buffet was good. I would say not the same as pre pandemic.
This is possibly the worst Thai food I’ve had. One extra star for being edible and not giving me food poisoning at least? Everything completely misses the mark (of matching actual Thai cuisine and just being flavorful) and no spice even if you order the highest level.

Great food, great service, best egg rolls in the Midwest
Great service, no complaints there, but unfortunately all food was pretty bad - no spice, quite bland, papaya salad was soggy and mushy, calamari was rubbery and chewy, and others said their curry was pretty bad as well. Its unfortunate because our server was very kind but I dont recommend this place based on the food
Great food and location, but takeout is inconsistent. We’ve had a great time dining in, but the takeout is often so wrong that it makes me think they are doing it on purpose. For instance in a single order, the dishes requested 4/5 heat had no spice, while the dishes requested 0/5 were spicy. The vegetarian dishes for which we ordered extra vegetables, had almost no vegetables and instead contained large chunks of very fatty chicken. The dishes for which we ordered extra shrimp, did not contain extra shrimp, but had a huge amount of woody galangal and lemongrass shoots and pieces of Kaffir stems that were very woody and too small to notice and remove.
Tragic takeout experience. Pad See Ew was very ewww. I only got the Pad See Ew because it was a popular dish according to the recommendations from online ordering: I figured, how can one mess up such an easy, delicious dish? I had it SO WRONG: flavors were off, noodles were dry, broccoli was old, chicken was tough and flavorless. I’ve had multiple bad experiences at Sawatdee by this point (other locations). It used to be great restaurant YEARS ago. Now the only question they’ve left me with is wondering..why is joint still around??
We are so pleased that we chose Sawatdee to cater our event. People raved about the food--many hand-held Thai classics--that were so fresh-tasting and flavorful. They were real pros from the moment we asked for a bid to the service they provided at the event. If you are looking for standout food and service at your next catered event, I would not hesitate to hire them.
Ordered Catering - large portion sizes
Ordered take out, it was $80 and we just threw it all out after taking one bite. Just ordered a cheese steak and a pizza. Unbelievably unimpressed. Absolutely no taste, ordered spicy, zero spice, protein cooked all the way to rubber. A complete waste of money.
Just to be clear, I order pizza and a cheese steak as the Thai food we got from the restaurant was so bad we threw the entire order out after one bite.
Sawatdee is one of my favorite downtown restaurants. Great spot to visit in person; also quick takeout for lunch or dinner.
Found roaches in my food
I LOVE this place! So tasty and delicious every time!
I ordered three dishes none of which were good. The tofu mushroom soup with coconut was terrible - bland, no flavor, with canned rubbery mushrooms and overcooked tofu. The spring rolls with meat had no discernible meat in them - very bland. The papaya salad was mostly raw shredded papaya with no spices or other ingredients like in the photo so it was not what they advertised. The service was good and fast. Food was overpriced.
Flavorless
I ordered chicken pad Thai for lunch. It was promptly delivered via Door Dash. I had ordered the same food from a different location many times. Not sure what it was with this order, but it was just meh.
This is some of the most lacking Thai food I’ve had. It’s edible (?) but no match for the real thing or even better places in the Twin Cities. Level 5 spice is not even spicy.
The rice noodle soup was amazing. Wonderful broth flavor and the noodles were the perfect consistency. The pad Thai was great as well!
Excellent pineapple red curry. Excellent service. I highly recommend.
Still one of the best Thai restaurants in the Metro area. Been enjoying their food and service since the 1980s.

I have been coming here for decades. It is always great, which is why it's been around so long.
But for some reason, the hot and sour soup was extremely salty this time around. Like saltlick salty. Be handy to have on hand if you wanted to attract deer. This has never been the case before, so perhaps the person who made it accidently added the salt twice.
I can't emphasize enough that this in no way will stop me from going/ordeing again. And again and again and again. One off dish in over 30 years is actually pretty amazing when you think about it.
Really not good. Ridiculously expensive for tiny portions, cheap ingredients, and weird flavors. I expected a lot for the reviews, and quite frankly, this place was a huge let down. If you’re going to charge two people $80 to eat a meal here, your food has to taste like it’s worth $80. Was not good, and I won’t be back.
We started with weak service after sitting there for 15mins.
Food came out fairly quick ,but did not meet the true thai flavor. The place was not busy cause dinner service had just begun and we had reservations. The atmosphere was descent, still food didn't due much for me.
I’ve read the reviews on this place and I’ll say this. If you’re planning on dining in, you’ll feel very alone. I’ve dined in here a couple of times and every single time, it felt like we were the only ones in there. I have a feeling most people order take out from here. Good food, excellent service. Staff were pleasant even though we walked in close to close. The other clientele in the restaurant were also extremely amicable. Don’t be afraid to go for a higher spice level if your palette differs from the Midwest standard.
We ordered spring rolls, Pad Thai, and fried vegetarian spring rolls. While the spring rolls weren't to our taste, the Pad Thai and fried vegetarian spring rolls were excellent! The Pad Thai had a perfect balance of flavors, and the fried vegetarian spring rolls were crispy and flavorful. The food arrived well-packed and warm, and despite not liking one dish, we thoroughly enjoyed the rest of our meal.
Pleasantly surprised- great food and price.
Good vibe
Some of the worst Thai food I've ever had. Food tasted like what a hospital cafeteria thinks Thai food should taste like. Looked the same amount of gray too. Paid for extra vegetables on the pad see ew, didn't get those. Had to refry both our pad thai and pad see ew with extra sauce from home to make them edible.
This was honestly the worst meal I’ve had in my adult life. Service was both negligent and, frankly, came across as hostile. The price point for what we received was flabbergastinly discordant: 17 dollars apiece for what amounted to steamed green beans in a weak panang curry for him, and rice noodles in a disturbingly watery green curry for me - both dishes lacking any strong flavor both dishes would have had in every other Thai restaurant we’ve been to. I am astounded that so many reviews are glowing, and hope that means our experience was, unfortunately, an outlier; regardless, would never recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Best eggrolls ive ever had.
We stopped in around mid afternoon and Makayla made our experience here much more amazing.
There wasn’t a lot of people seated to dine in , but had a ton of takeout orders.
I ordered the Tokyo rose cocktail and my husband opted for the same , we both enjoyed how tasteful it was! I liked the fisherman’s delight but it wasn’t as spicy as I’d hope. Makayla went above and beyond to bring us extra chili and jalapeños.
10/10 from the cleanliness of the restaurant to the efficiency of the customer service to the taste of the food. Immaculate!
I worked with Cyndy to have lunch catered to our office. She is wonderful to work with, very accommodating to our various dietary requests. The food was delicious! Lots of great compliments from the staff. We had a bunch of different items on the menu, but the top three favorites were the Red Curry Chicken, Holy Basil Chicken, and the Pad Thai and of course I would be remiss I didn't mention the cream cheese wontons.
Sawatdee has been a go-to for work event catering for a year now! Cyndy is always very accommodating to my last minute requests (as much as I try to keep them off her plate), quick and informative when answering my questions and ALWAYS reliable to deliver on time. The quality of the food is a whole other story. I cannot recommend them enough!
The most bland pad thai I’ve ever had.
Great pad Thai and Thai tea. I will eat here again.
Twas flame. Try for best results.
Got the pad see ew and was disappointed. They used American broccoli instead of Chinese broccoli. Sauce was not enough and not great. Noodles not great, not the usual wide noodles, not soft, not caramelized.
Very strange. I had the red curry and ordered it on the spicier side, and it came out with just a pile of crushed red pepper on top of the curry. It wasn't BAD, just kind of funny? Tasted fine, so.
Thai food was exactly what we had a taste for, and Sawatdee Thai Restaurant was the perfect place to eat on a laid back Sunday afternoon, also such an Asian inspired design that it felt like we were in Thailand experiencing the culture and spices, all the food was delicious and even made made a great lunch the next day. See pics and video.
Nice ladies at the register but the food….the food was very salty and had nothing to do with Thailand.
The food was very watered down, not authentic at all. I didn’t even finish my meal because it didn’t taste good or look appetizing. I had the Pad Thai. No ambience, really bright lighting too, that made it uncomfortable.
My former favorite Thai restaurant in the cities. Quite good but not as good as it once was.
while the food was good, trying to use a birthday coupon Sawatdee sent me in an email was very stressful. The email literally says "Your birthday treat is available to redeem when ordering in-store from a staff member, or by ordering Online, or through the Toast Takeout App." since we were there in-person, I just pulled up the email for the waitress. she left the table 3 times trying to ask an colleague what to do even though the email was clearly from Sawatdee for $8 off and they could have just typed that into their handheld thing. a different employee came over and was pretty rude/abrupt saying I needed a code to scan, where's the bar code, you can get the discount without something for us to scan. I was trying to say that I was just following what the email said and that there wasn't anything to scan on the email, and she'd brusquely say that she knows there's nothing in the email but I still needed a code... we all ended up clicking multiple things on my phone til a barcode finally appeared for them to scan. I just feel like 1: the thing that you HAVE to scan should be in the body of the email, 2: the wait staff should all be trained on what to do when it's not there, and 3: the staff should be nice when the customer literally hasn't done anything wrong and was just following what was said on the email (which didn't mention anything about something needing to be scanned). made for an awkward moment on my birthday...
Worst pad Thai I’ve ever had, so bland and disappointing. I did a 1 level spice, but I still expect flavor even if it’s not spicy. Don’t waste your $$ here :/
Server was really nice.
Good food, nostalgia. We are from the St Cloud area where there was a Sawadee that closed at least two years ago. It's exactly the same menu, excellent. The restaurant itself was completely empty. The two of us were the only people there for 45 minutes. Maybe this is more of a take-out place for locals? That considered, it was exactly as expected. I almost forgot the expo robot that attempted to deliver our food. It got lost on the way, stuck in between tables. Again, we were the only people in the establishment. Why there was a robot to do half of the job the only server here did, I don't know. Silly.
As an Asian grown up in Asia, Don’t go to this place. This is the worst green curry I’ve ever had. No fresh vegetables except the beans, other than that there’s just a poor amount of frozen diced carrots. The so-called spice level is just the amount of chili flakes added on top of the dish and didn’t change the original spiciness in the dish.
Dropped in for a late lunch and it was wonderful! The service was very warm and helpful and the broccoli fried rice and pad thai were v tasty
Rude server who complained about where we sat (when they have seat yourself) sign. The food was awful. None of the dishes we ordered tasted how other Thai restaurants make them.
I highly recommend other locations or skip this company all together.
All I can say for this place is... AWESOME!!!! The food was great and had a lot of options for appetizers and main dishes. Didn't look at the soups. Service was quick. We got seated, and for 15 minutes to 20 minutes, we had our food. Appetizers came out before the main dishes right on time. There are a lot of great things to look at when you are sitting. Different pictures, statues, wood carvings, and wall fixtures.
They just keep offering the ‘summer pad thai’ and it just keeps coming out a disaster, just like the spring rolls. Clearly cheap ingredients, no thought goes into the dishes and the summer pad Thai is served in a literal LAKE of oil and sauce. I sent it back last time but just didn’t have the heart to this time. Will not be back
One of my favorite Thai restaurants: chicken wings are amazing; chicken pad Thai is delicious, Rice noodle soup (level 3 spice) is incredible. Don't hold back. Try different items on the menu and enjoy!
I ordered via door dash today. The papaya salad (som tum) was horrible. Worst i’ve ever had. It had 0 flavor. I only had two bites and had to spit it out. Pad See Yew was ok but needed a lot of mods at home. I ended up adding tons of soy sauce and sriracha. Very bland food overall. Not ordering again.
Delicious!
Hands down the BEST THAI SPOT IN TOWN. I can guarantee you that.
Food was costly and felt bland. Didn't have the Thai spice, nor was it hot(temperature). Just one server who looked tired and overworked.
We are here before a show at the Gutherie Theater. The place was completely empty except for a few tables which was shocking to us since there was a show in 90 minutes. Now we know why.
The waitress was very short and spoke over us when we addressed her. The food was very poor. The Panang red curry was greasy with no coconut milk in it. When we asked the waitress about it she pointed out a drop of coconut milk that was resting on a green bean and stated there’s the coconut milk.
The stir fry was super cheap with the vegetables 80% white onion and water chestnuts with a few button mushrooms thrown in. Rice was luke warm.
Will never eat there again
Yummy food from a Minnesota business woman and family owned. Great service. Really enjoyed the green lip mussels.
Just TRASH! I ordered level 5 spice and got chili flakes in my fried rice. The type for pizza. I asked for wings to be well done and they were pink... HOW ARE DEBONED WINGS PINK?? YUCK!!!!!! I will never go back there and they cannot fix it. This is just how they serve the food! If I get salmonella from biting into that wing I'm gonna lose my sgit! Wing had no flavor... no fish sauce no salt, soy, five spice... NOTHING
YALL ARE TRIFLING AF!
All the food we've ever had from Sawatdee has been delicious, but the reason we go again and again is to get the "Paradise Chicken Wings" (which are an architectural wonder because we have no idea how one stuffs a chicken wing never mind stuffs them as full as these are filled) and "Sue's Egg Rolls" (which we feel are among the best in the Twin Cities maybe even the best).
Maybe it was what I ordered— but would not recommend. I ordered the panang chicken curry and it wasn’t like any panang curry I have had. Dish was 90% green beans, and very skimpy on the curry sauce/chicken.
Very good service, food came out quick, great atmosphere, but food was only ok.
Great Thai food. Service was fantastic. Cool place to grab a bite before a game. Just a couple blocks before US Bank.
The Pad Thai was the best I have ever had! The Toam Yum soup was amazing too! I highly recommend this restaurant.
Fun little robots serve you amazing food, do it.
lovely food :-) the server was helpful, and the builiding is very nice. i had the fisherman's delight, which was great. portion sizes great.
Great atmosphere with Thai decor. Clean. Friendly service. Quick service. Wide variety of options on the menu. Enjoyed the fresh spring rolls to start. Then I enjoyed the pad thai with chicken. Great portion of food. Filling. Very flavorful! Enjoyed my experience and look forward to visiting again.
Excellent Thai cuisine.
Great vibes, food, and service. My parents are always interested in going here when they visit. Theyve been around for years, and you can understand why when you try the food. Very accommodating and very tasty.
Just a phenomenal experience from start to finish! Very inviting and comfortable with a versatile menu. Very clean from top to bottom! Items made to order so one can decide level of spice. Fast, courteous, professional service from Jamela who graciously took the time to offer recommendations and shook a perfect martini! We ordered the appetizer platter for two. The peanut vinegar sauce was out of this world and everything so hot and fresh! Thank you!!
If you have ever had Thai food, even anywhere else in the U.S.A., the food will be very unpleasant. If typical American Chinese food like General Tsao chicken and those chewy cream fried things that I can't remember the name of are your jam, then I think this might be a new and different thing to try?!
Aside from that, it was the worst attempt at Thai food I've ever had.
TLDR: The food is really bad, but the service is truly fantastic.
The staff is really amazing and the decor is lovely!!
I wouldn't recommend to eat there, but absolutely grab a drink.
Not sure about the food because it took an hour (or more) for food to come out. I left.
I really wanted to like this place. Thai people working there, fast and friendly service, looked very promising. The rice I got had a large mushy chunk in the middle. The pad thai was just okay, shrimp sort of overcooked. No peanuts, no lime flavor, couldn't really tell if tamarind was in there or not. The green curry was also disappointing. Green curry should just make you swoon with the rich layers of flavor, but I did not get that. It was just okay, medium was very spicy. I will probably go back but will ask the Thai people there what to order next time.
The fried spring rolls and fresh spring rolls were good, but the pad thai was only ok. It was bland.
Wow this place has changed. Went here pre-pandemic and it was so-so. Service I would have given a 4 star but they have a helper robot which definitely made the overall experience better. I also like that they provide cloth napkins.
The food was amazing. Sorry I didn’t take any pictures. I was impressed by the food that I totally forgot. We ordered the calamari which was weirdly beer batter breaded but the entrees were excellent. I ordered the Erewan steak salad which was very good. My friend ordered the Panang curry and he said it’s delicious. We also ordered the ice thai tea and it was great 👍🏽
As a whole I gave 5 stars all around but it was borderline going to get a 4-4.5 stars. Sawatdee’s needs to tighten up the ship because the calamari was not as described and self-seating ourselves isn’t very professional. I have been going to Sawatdee’s for over 25 years, first time in Lowertown St Paul, and hope they keep moving in the right direction.
This was my first time trying this place. I wasn’t impressed if you ever had big bowl Chinese and Thai restaurant it’s way better more flavorful and very fresh. The chicken tasted like it was refrigerated. The server was nice.
Worst Thai I’ve ever had. I’m not typically that picky, but I ordered Pad See Ew and Chicken Satay for takeout and the food was barely edible. The noodles in the Pad See Ew were bone dry + the dish was not seasoned. The Chicken Satay was way over cooked and was closer to beef jerky with no flavor.
Really bummed. I thought I had found a great new local Thai spot 😞
Authentic Japanese cuisine and wonderful service.
Great 👍
First time in a long time since I've been to Sawatdee. We were able to be seated right away. The menu was extensive, but we both ordered the Pad Thai. Nice portion size but the pork was not very flavorful. I probably would not order this again.
They have a little robot that brings the food to the table. Very cute.
I will be back to try the curry.
Our waiter John C. started out as a good server until he got more customers, and it seemed as if he changed. He BURPED very rudely and did not excuse himself. Seemed as if he was not willing to provide the same service he started out giving when we were seated. The food was just okay. It was nothing to be spectacular as everyone claimed it to be. They amount of food you receive was a nice portion. The flavor was good, but the quality of food was minimal for the price.
The restaurant is nice but the food is not tasteful at all. The worst roast duck I have ever tried. They really need some work to cook the food better.
1st time @ this location. Normally, patronize the Maple Grove location. The food here wasn't as tasty & it was slow. Curry fried rice & chicken rice was ok. Egg & spring rolls were good👍🏿.
Thai fry rice was good!!
Para los amantes de la comida tailandesa, es un buen lugar, comida picante en extremo. Yo no como picante y por eso le doy tres estrellas.
We got picked up takeout at 8:50p and they close at 9. They took an extra 10 minutes to get us the food but gave us free spring rolls for the wait :) the food was really good except the spice was intolerable (we tried a 1, 2 and 3).
I've never been a fan, however, the people I went with have loved it all their adult lives. So don't take my word for it on this one. The service was great!
I really liked the red curry. It's impossible to find Thai food even half this good back in Maryland. That's not an exaggeration. Will definitely return if I get the chance to visit Minnesota again.
I love Sawatdee. The Papaya Salad is to die for!! Always great food and service.
There are not enough great Thai restaurants in Minneapolis anymore, so this has become my regular spot. The fresh spring rolls are delicious.
I still rave about this restaurant and I haven't been home in years! The place is gorgeous and the food and staff has always been wonderful. I love that they speak Thai with me.
Great food and service...a little loud...but excellent...
We've always had good experiences at Sawatdee and enjoy their food a lot! So much so that we had them cater our wedding reception. :) On my most recent visit, they had a good value lunch buffet (Mon/Wed/Fri now). The best items there were the chicken green curry and cream cheese wontons. Yum!
I remember coming to this place as a child with my mom and finding it really delicious! I don't typically leave reviews unless it's really good or really bad, but in this case, this was the worst Thai food I've ever had. I ordered laab, papaya salad, and thai sausage. Each bite unfortunately kept getting more and more disappointing. I ordered a level 5 spice (being the most) The laab seasoning wasn't even comparable to a traditional laab dish, the papaya salads sauce tasted like it was sweet & diluted with water... not to mention, Thai chili pepper was completely absent in all these dishes.... At a Thai place... They used dried chili flakes as replacement I guess? Which was very flavorless and not spicy at all. I'm not sure what changed, but I won't be returning. This is not authentic Thai food.
Blandest Pad Thai I've ever had
Haven't been here in a couple of years since we moved, but I was in town for work and met some friends. Service was OK, food was average. There's no need to go back.
The food was fine. However the Wednesday offers for kids were not communicated.Felt that the waitress was in too much of an hurry even when taking the order or when asked for food choices/options.
Restaurant was nearly empty on a Saturday night, and yet it took at least 5 minutes before anyone came to our table. A roomba-like robot tray brought the food to our table (?!) But the server still needed to place in on the table. Food was plentiful and tasted good. If not for the strange, slow service maybe 4 stars?
The picture says enough. Our Panang curry container had hardly any actual curry and was about 80% green beans. I've never received a container filled so little with curry from a Thai restaurant before. Pad Thai was good flavor but not enough sauce so it was dry (noticing a trend). Will not be coming back here.
We were quickly seated, waitress came immediately for our drink orders. In a timely fashion our food was served and it was delicious and nice and hot.
Awesome food!! Loved Toam Yum soup… delicious!!
Food comes out pretty quick. Red curry is amazing here, recommend 3 or 4 for heat level in almost any dish if you can handle a moderate level of heat.
Gave this place a second shot after a poor experience the first time. My dad wanted to go for lunch and I said yes because it was close to his workplace. I got their red curry and it was very good. Much more flavor than the pad thai I had gotten previously. My dad got the lunch buffet and really enjoyed it as well. Good mix of meats, veggies along with rice.
We love getting takeout from Sawatdee or when we can dine in. The spring rolls are fantastic! The Pad Thai is great as well. Prices are reasonable and the service is fast and courteous.
Food is AMAZING! Service is AWESOME! Would totally recommend!
Got delivery and it was absolutely inedible. The panang curry had absolutely no sauce and was just oil. We got it with chicken but it was filled to the brim with green beans as a filler. The pad thai was completely dry, egg rolls were disgusting. They send bad food intentionally because they know we can't send it back, and there's no recourse. This place was good years ago but this is some of the worst food I've ever had.
Possibly the best restaurant in Minneapolis.
Everything tasted amazing. It was unfortunate to see so many empty tables, but it tasted so good.
I love their Pineapple Curry!
I tried this restaurant twice. Once for sit down service, and a second time through Doordash. Both times, I was very disappointed. I thought perhaps they were having an off day, so I gave them another go. The second time confirmed to me that their standards are lacking. The food here feels very, "whitewashed" and not at all authentic. As someone who's grown up eating authentic Thai food my entire life, I was offended by the quality that was served at this establishment. Food seriously lacked flavor and depth, often associated with Thai food. If you've never tried Thai food before, you might like this place simply because you don't know any better. If you're familiar with authentic Thai food, you will be very disappointed.
This place my be difficult for those who have mobility issues as it requires patrons to climb quite a few stairs to get to the main entrance. Waitress is kind, but overall service is on the slower side.
Say what you will about this Thai food chain but the food came out fast, the meal was cooked like it was slow roasted over a fire on the tropics of Thailand. The people are friendly and move with urgency. The place is fairly big but yet always peaceful. Get you some zen and good food in Sawatdee
