First time in but my sister orders take out a lot and loves it too. I'm usually skeptical of places that do a little bit of everything however the food was great. The Atomic Bomb roll was really good, not particularly spicy, for me at least. The Pad Thai, while not the best I've had was very good. Huge portion and I ordered it #7 spicy. Just right. The Curry Ton Catsu was good, we ordered the curry/gravy on the side and should have left it on. Friendly atmosphere. Overall a place I'll definitely return to.

Such good Sushi Rolls! Many varieties to choose from, we had the Michigan roll and I tried the shrimp pad Thai - omg great choices they were! In the past we’ve really liked the Ypsilanti roll and a few others - lots of choices on the menu. They do a great amount of take out business and I can see why. Restaurant is pretty basic if you eat in but the entire staff is efficient and get you taken care of, Sapporo was cold and there are several Saki and wine choices. Yum if you like sushi - stop on in!

We were in the area and quickly Googled nearby sushi places for a quick bite before heading home. Our expectations were fairly low since we hadn't been there before and our research was limited to what was nearby. We all ordered Bento Boxes, and were very pleasantly surprised by the quality and quantity of food. If we were in the area again, we'd definitely stop in.

We sat around up front for 20 minutes without anyone saying anything to us, and they were busy so I understand that. But then a few customers came in behind us and asked "can we sit anywhere?" and the attendants let them cut in front of us. Not impressed

First time trying this place. The food was ok but the service was absolutely abysmal. We sat down, were provided menus, and were immediately asked what we wanted to drink when we hadn’t even opened them. Once decided, we ordered two drinks and only received one and had to ask again for the second, which I’m pretty sure he never took down in the first place. No water was provided until I asked and we only received one. Not a great start… but it got worse. After we placed our order, we waited FORTY FIVE minutes to receive it even though it wasn’t particularly busy when we arrived. We ordered an appetizer that never came and when I asked our server where it was they said it was still being cooked, which was a lie since only then did they put in the order and we waited until we were almost finished with our sushi to receive it and the batter was overcooked. Then the bill, which was for some unknown reason handled by a different server who proceeded to charge my card for a more expensive order that wasn’t ours! I mean seriously… so even though they voided it and recharged my card the correct amount I will have to monitor my account to check that it comes off. I would not recommend this place at all. The sushi is mediocre, the staff weren’t very friendly, and our server in particular was completely incompetent. Go down the road to Yotsuba, which is way better in all departments.

Visiting from out of state for a bowling tournament, and went to this place for the reviews understanding what it would cost as it was dinner time. We walk in and it wasnt very busy things were going fine and got the menu. Ordered teriyaki salmon and my dad order the teriyaki shrimp and got an appetizer of shrimp tempura. Both meals supposed to come with rice, vegetables, soup and salad for 18.99. The appetizer was good have no complaints of that, probably the best thing out of everything. The soup was miso and to be honest did not have good flavor depends on taste. The shrimp that was ordered were overcooked causing it to be tough and VERY few vegetables. On my plate there were 3 pieces of broccoli and then 3 pieces of carrots and the rest of the plate being onions. I dont expect a bunch of everything but more than 3 pieces and definitely not the whole plate being onions as a layer. The environment of the place I enjoyed and as mentioned the food was not that good. The worst part of all was the service. Our waiter did the bare minimum barely. He took our drink orders, and our food answered the questions we had with "uhh yea.." dropped off the food and he wouldn't take the time of day to ask us how things were, if we needed anything, nothing. This other gentleman who was not our waiter was the one to speak to us and asked us if we needing anything and if everything was ok which was nice to be checked on. Just once or twice to be asked and thats it. The place was not that busy maybe 4 or less other tables full and our waiter was walking fast as if he did not want to speak to us. Not sure what the case was but it was bad service. Overall I have never complained in a restaurant and I think this is my first time leaving an online review and definitely not impressed for the reviews.

I've been eating here for several years. Their sushi is always fresh and delicious house. The salmon sashimi is some of the best I've ever had. Friendly staff and clean tables.

I found this place out from a friend and it's my only spot I grab from. Every place I've tried after, I always find myself coming back here and loving it so much more. Truly. It's so fresh and the options are amazing. And you have to try the sake drinks. It accompanies the sushi amazingly.

Still the best sushi joint in the area. Had the noodles as a change of pace and they were also superb. Storefront atmosphere makes this feel like a real foodie place. Oh... and the Japanese beers are all there too. Try Asahi super dry.

My favorite sushi restaurant! I always try to stop by here whenever I’m in town. Prices are very reasonable, and if you order enough sushi, they put it on a wooden boat thing when they bring it out to you! I’m vegetarian when it comes to sushi and there’s a variety of vegetarian options.

Great little sushi places for the area. They have plenty of different options for dietary restrictions (I.e. vegan, vegetarian, allergies, etc.). The food is pretty good, the restaurant is fairly clean, and the staff is always checking on you. Great place for a quick lunch or dinner. Highly recommend for this area.

I went here with my brother-in-law and wife last night, and watched them take food out to a gentleman, and then 30 minutes later they brought the lady that was with him her food, however, she told them she did not want it because they were actually getting ready to leave. They left the food sitting there for about five minutes, they came back, took the food and the receipt and walked back into the kitchen, a few minutes later, the waiter come out with My brother-in-law‘s order, which was the same order as the lady had ordered. It was chicken and rice,, But normally it sizzles, and his was not sizzling, and the gentleman did not have a mitt on while, carrying the hot plate, my brother-in-law refused the food, and said I know that that food was just sitting over there on their table, and the waiter agreed, and said he understood, and he took the food and walked back into the kitchen. My question is, what would the health department have to say about this establishment serving food off of someone else’s table, and allowing rice to sit at room temperature before serving? I guess this is a eat at your own risk establishment.

My dining experience with David as a server in the evening was excellent, prompt, and friendly. The Shogun roll had excellent tasteful Tuna and crab, and enjoyed a Blue Moon. I was just looking for a quick, good sushi fill, and this hit on the mark. Thanks for reading.

Aki Sushi is our go to sushi place! Great food, staff, and atmosphere. They even ordered Uni for my partner at one point and called to let him know they had it in stock when it was ready. We just ordered for the millionth time today and tried some new items and I had to leave a review because it was so good. The Sexy Salmon appetizer was so delicious. Phenomenal flavor. You can't go wrong with Aki Sushi!

Aki has been a staple of our sushi experience for almost a decade. I can honestly say it's the best sushi we've had anywhere in Michigan. The food is phenomenal, the service is phenomenal, the experience is PHENOMENAL. Go here. Order a lot of food. Stuff yourself will and enjoy. You will not be disappointed!

This place has good food but bad service. Anytime you get sushi, it’s expected to get soy sauce as well. This place apparently doesn’t believe in that.

Apparently it’s faster to dine in compared to picking up.

My impression of sushi restaurants in the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area (I lived in AA for 4 years) is pretty bad. As a Korean, I guess my standards of Japanese food is quite different than this part of the world. Despite all this, I can confirm that this is by far the best Sushi restaurant the area has to offer. I'd give it 6 stars if I could.

Easily my favorite local spot to get Japanese, I am now a regular, so much so they basically already know what I want to order, since I usually get the same thing, the second I walk in, they know what I'm there for. Service is amazing, hosts are very friendly, food is always amazing, fresh, very good quantity and quality, Japanese entrees are amazing, the Thai is amazing, and the sushi is as well, very delicious food!
They're always so friendly and will fix any problems you do come across, and if you have allergies they take that into account too, just make sure to speak up and let them no.
I recommend the Sushi of course, Chicken Curry Katsu, and the Pad Thai is always amazing, my favorite is the beef Pad Thai. (They'll make it without peanuts if you ask)

I ordered the volcano roll and the sweet potato roll, both of which were excellent. I also tried the vegetable tempura. The tempura coating was a little too heavy and thick for my taste, but overall was still ok. Will definitely try this place again.

I visited this place with my niece. When we arrived we were the only customers there after sitting for about 10 minutes we received water. An all white table came 5 minutes later and admittedly received waters and lemon. After another 5-7 minutes with by the waitress took their order. Me and my niece sat for about 20 minutes and we’re ignoring. We got up and left. Will not waste my money where I am not welcomed. If you are BLACK save your money and DO NOT visit this place. Just make the drive to Yotsuba.

A very nice quiet little place. Great food. The staff is very nice. A+ you have to try it.

The food here is average-ish, if bland, for its price point, but avoid their shrimp dishes. They do not devein their shrimp. That dark line you see along a shrimp's back is its digestive tract. That means when you see that 'vein' still intact or spilling open into your food, that is shrimp excrement all over your plate. I got the shrimp fried rice and not a single one was deveined and most of their digestive tracts were very, very full. Their other food alright, but take a hard pass on the shrimp.

Hubby and I come here at least once a month. It’s our go to sushi spot. And we’re very picky about out sushi. Eastern roll, TNT roll, and their chicken fried rice are just some of our favorites.

First time eating sushi it was very good.

Recently, I visited this restaurant to celebrate a pair of friends' birthdays. The staff were very friendly people and the service was great. The restaurant wasn't busy; a few patrons filled a couple of booths, so this did not impact our wait time at all. We were seated quickly, and the server was very attentive, bringing our food out in a timely manner, refilling drinks, and making sure we had what we needed. Our table of four ordered a variety of appetizers and dishes, including pan-fried gyoza, fried squid rings, and a large assortment of sushi. Each roll was delicious, having a unique flavor of its own. I ordered two different rolls and miso soup, yet the shining star out of the trio was the Atomic Bomb. Spicy but not overpowering, it was full of flavor and very filling. My sister ordered the Blueberry Saki, and after having a sip, I will be ordering a glass of my own next time. The atmosphere was cozy, quiet, and convivial. We dined in the daylight, but the lighting appeared dimmed, so I imagine that if it were nighttime, the restaurant would appear a little more moody for a more romantic setting.

I am not usually in the Ypsilanti area, but if I am again, I would certainly make a stop here. I highly recommend Aki Sushi!

This place is amazing and the food is absolutely delicious. The presentation of the food is immaculate and impressive. The customer service is outstanding and they are always so polite and patient. My favorite is the golden mango shrimp roll. It's a delicious twist on sushi that I have never seen before. (I love sushi).

We order two sushi deluxe, chirashi (sashimi over rice) and chicken teriyaki. Everything was delicious!! The chirashi was tasty and beautiful! The chicken teriyaki came steaming 🤩

Fantastic service and wonderful food. I've probably eaten through at least 1/3 of their menu at this point and almost everything has been exactly what I wanted! I would say their standout dishes would be the Tuna Takaki if you're looking for something lighter and full of flavor and then their deep fried rolls if you want something a bit heavier. Make sure to get one of their lunch specials or meals so you can enjoy their lovely salad and miso soup as well!

Their utensils smelled like fish today 🤢🤮 I was super hungry and I couldn’t eat more than a couple bites. I had my Birthday here and it was amazing! The sushi and entrees were served in a timely manner. Presentation was on point and service was above and beyond. My dessert was a deep fried cheesecake and it was AMAZING.
