Voted one of the best Thai restaurants in Metro Detroit.
Highly recommend their food. I had one of my best Curry Noodles ever there today. I was surprised that this place was not busy on a Saturday afternoon. My husband loved the Drunken Noodles. We'll definitely be back.
Really lovely place! The food came out fast and everything was affordable and delicious, especially the lunch deal. Medium spice level was actually perfectly medium spicy ❤️🔥 Also love that you can order a small size soup. Thai iced tea was tall and creamy and delicious.
The inside of the place is also really cute and clean. Would come back again :)
So yummy!!🥰 This is my favorite Thai food restaurant. We love the mild kick boxing chicken, mild chicken pad Thai, spicy calimari, chicken satay, mango sticky rice and coconut ice cream from here.
We probably eat here at least once a week! Fast and friendly service💕
Update on April 13, 2023
This is still our favorite place to eat at least once a week or in this case it was our second time this week. So good.
Update: February 8, 2024
Still our/ my families favorite Thai food place. They have the best Kickboxing chicken, chicken satay, spicy calamari, Chicken pad Thai with extra egg and peanuts. The mango sticky rice and coconut ice cream is so yummy.
We love eating inside because it is usually not busy. It is always clean, the staff is nice and friendly.
Authentic Thai food, full of flavor and spices. Ordered medium and it was definitely a medium 🔥 We got the chicken panang curry, a chicken with ginger and sampler appetizer to go. Everything was absolutely delicious, will definitely be back if workin in the area again! Service was also pleasant and fast!
The best thai restaurant I've been to in Oakland County, Michigan. Large portions, flavorful food, and they don't skimp on the heat! They also have a bunch of unique menu creations of their own to choose from!

I come here quite frequently and I've never had a bad meal from this place. I really recommend thier sweet and sour chicken

So Thai is amazing, we literally drive 40 minutes to get take out because it is that GOOD.
Great food, we will be back!
Food is not authentic, would not go back here. The crab rangoons had an awful taste, the chicken satay was also unappetizing.
One of Waterford/Pontiac's hidden gems, tucked away in plain sight.
This used to be my favorite Thai restaurant, I got take out for the first time in years and was very disappointed with the food. It had a strange taste and didn’t seem fresh.
I placed my order around 2:06pm and that is time of pick up. Order was red curry with tofu and veggie and noodles with beef.
This place has a great ambiance, but the food doesn’t live up to the price. It lacks the authentic Thai flavor and taste you’d expect.
The fresh rolls were a disappointment—they weren’t fresh at all and tasted like they were made with old ingredients.
Spicy food if that's what you like.
FOOD IS SOOO GOOD!! I definitely recommend for Thai. Owners are lovely people.
Great food great service. Recommend every dish, including the drunken noodle.
Best Thai food ever! Very generous portion. Everything is so fresh tasting. I walk out feeling that my body is very happy with my choices
Another great meal. Thank you
Wonderful, authentic Thai food! Atmosphere and service is phenomenal. Highly recommend!
Buena comida servicio rápido y amigable
Very nice restaurant! The server was very friendly. The food was great. Larb and papaya salads tasted great. Fresh rolls with peanut sauce yummy. The entrées had great flavor.
We will go again.
**Update 8/24, past few carry out orders have been lower quality. Under cooked potatoes in the curry, some chewy cabbage instead of broccoli in the pad see ew. Disappointing**Have ordered carry out and dined in. Food was fresh and prepared as ordered. Very clean and friendly service.
Orderd the so thai fried rice option with mixed veggies. Asked for the dinner size and received a small black tray with mostly veggies hardly any rice and to many huge hard pieces of broccoli. Food was not good at all and for almost 18$ I'm highly disappointed. Only came here bc our normal place was closed and we won't be going back here. I suggest considering other options over this place.
I usually don't put bad review. Ok this is my second time here because I thought the food was good. So I returned with my friend. First time for her. We came for lunch we were busy people. She's on her lunch break too. But the service we got was terrible. The server literally came once in the beginning, took order then never returned. The whole time I saw her standing from the open window. My friend doesn't have her drink. We have to grab different server to get the service we need it. Not happy with the service at all!
Food was amazing, service was great, atmosphere was very nice!
Food was mediocre. Definitely not worth the price. Small portions. I paid 22 dollars and some change for a 7 dollar meal. Price gouging at its finest!! Do not recommend at all.
Great Thai iced tea and the hot and sour soup was rejuvenating!
Ordered online. Got a call from them about 10 minutes later but couldn’t answer because of being at work. No voicemail left. Went to check my order status about 20 minutes before the scheduled time and my order was canceled. No one answers the phone or anything. What a horrible experience out of a place I used to order from for years. Moving on after that treatment
Review edit: I understand the circumstances but you bothered to call, you could’ve left an explanation on my voicemail or had a voicemail on your end when I called explaining that you were closed. You run a business.
Order again last night, my pad tahi was very dry with no sauce. Ordered the Ma Bee Mang BBQ dish and the pork had the consistency of cardboard. I have been coming to this place for years. I'm really tired of the inconsistencies here. I will be driving even further now to the best tahi food around. IF YOU WANT CONSISTENCY WITH YOUR FOOD, GO TO PI'S TAI, ITS IN HAZEL PARK!! The best tahi food in michigan!
I really wish I can give this place zero stars The rice that we ordered was mushy I opened it up when I went to go pick up my order and I told her why is the rice mushy? She said oh because we use old rice you cannot make this up. They can’t take simple directions and communication is literally hard for them to understand.. They are so incompetent. It’s not even funny. This restaurant is ran by a bunch of teenagers who don’t care about customers or anything that’s going on inside the restaurant can you mess up fried rice please? Someone explained this to me the most simple orders they mess up. This place is an absolute disgrace. They are horrible either. They are on drugs high all day or there is something completely wrong with these teenagers that are running they all need to be fired. This place needs to be shut down ASAP. What a shame to have a restaurant opened from people and giving them garbage nasty food. No wonder the place is dead.
Food was so delicious the the red snapper, papaya salad was the best I ever had. Spring rolls was so fye. Wishing it was close to my home. A hr away drive.. Next time, I'm in Waterford, I 'm dining in.
Bestest
So delicious, perfect spice, perfect dish! Go to spot in east Waterford!
Best Thai food in Waterford!
Fantastic food. Everything that matters. Enjoy!
This place is SO delicious! Drunken noodle and pad thai are our go to dishes and we're never let down. Hubby gets the kickboxing chicken all the time. The fresh rolls are really good too, if you want a lighter option. The crab rangoon is a MUST! The way they make the rangoons is the "right way". That is how crab rangoon is supposed to taste! We eat here almost weekly 😍 So many delicious choices!
They put peanuts in their Pad See Ew dish. I’ve ordered this at almost every Thai place within a 20 mile radius, and have never once had anywhere put peanuts in it. It doesn’t say it contains peanuts anywhere on the menu or I would have ordered it without. Now I’m sitting here with a $16 plate of peanut filled shrimp pad see ew and I’m just sad. I was so hungry and this is just disgusting. Just state in the menu that it contains peanuts and I wouldn’t have ordered it. Communication please
Good service. Food is delicious. Already recommended lot of my friends. Would definitely recommend more.
Best Thai food around. Every dish is top notch. We really love that their hot spice is hot. Great atmosphere and service.
So yummy!!🥰 This is my favorite Thai food restaurant. We love the mild kick boxing chicken, mild chicken pad Thai, spicy calimari, chicken satay, mango sticky rice and coconut ice cream from here.

Food is always on point and fast!
So Thai used to be the best Thai food in the area. My family loved it every time. Both carryout and dine-in were always delicious and prepared with care, fresh vegetables and meats, and a wonderful balance of flavors. I'm not sure what happened today, but we got an $80 carryout and only two orders were edible, the gang dang red and the sampler platter. Drunken noodles in general is a favorite dish, but this one was way too sweet. There were no other flavors except cloying sweetness, maybe because there were so many red peppers in this one and usually there isn't, but the balance was off. The chicken in it was also tough and overcooked. We couldn't eat very much of it. The kickboxing chicken was so chewy and dry it was inedible as well. We were disappointed. $80 is a lot of money for one dish and an appetizer, and usually we have leftovers for a couple of days whenever we order Thai food.
Best Thai in the area. Restaurant is very cool esthetically and the service is always great.
Love this place!
I’ve been going here for years, even when they were located at Elizabeth lake road and M59. By far, my favorite Thai restaurant in Michigan!
Order on 1/23/24 of Chicken pad Thai wasn’t that good this time. Other orders were very good.
Great
Super good food, fast take out service, and the atmosphere is super enjoyable.
I get the same thing every time for lunch and it’s always done within 10 minutes which is perfect for me to leave work and go grab really fast!
I've ordered from this place 20 or so times since moving here 2015. A couple years ago I'd take friends and family here and recommend the place to everyone. My take out orders have always been timely, and the pad thai and their curries have great taste. I really like the vegetables in the curry.
However, after these last five orders or so I'm ready to find a different Thai restaurant. Their "mild" has become increasingly spicy to the point that it is just a pain to eat. Even my spice-loving sister was having trouble enjoying her red thai noodles. The "mild" definitely wasn't this hot when I first started coming to the restaurant, and it's been disappointing. You are at the mercy of what the cook determines to be mild that day, and after giving it a few more tries I'm just burnt out on trying to enjoy food that I used to love from here.
So if you like playing spicy Russian Roulette, come here. Otherwise, look for another Thai place to frequent as I am now doing.
I love thai food and was really excited about this place due the low key vibe in pictures but I hated the experience, the server was extremely rude, she did not care about our questions and was responding extremely rudely when I I asked if the food will be sweet or spicy. The staff in general seemed very disrespectful and our evening was ruined because of their rude behaviour
My favorite local Thai restaurant. Can’t go wrong with this place.
Carry out used the be the best. Lately food quality not so good. Tofu was not even cooked in my pad Thai. This restaurant used to be the best. Disappointed in both their Service and food quality the past 3 or 4 times I've ordered.
Hands down the absolute best Thai food I have ever had to this day (going on 10+ years). They are consistent and delicious every time. Every dish taste so fresh, I highly recommend you try them.
This place is fantastic. We are from the west side of the state but have to stop in whenever we are in the area. I can’t believe this place isn’t busier! We started with the potstickers & Thai teas. I got the Thai basil - SO GOOD. My fiancé got the peanut curry and loved it too. We need this place in Kalamazoo.
It's always a pleasure to order from here.
The catfish I ordered was amazing, and the atmosphere was perfect for date night. Great interior, great service, and they have alcohol. 👌
First time ever coming to so thai just moved to the area and was looking for a good Thai place and am very thankful that I came across this place walked into the restaurant and was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere in the building very calming. Would definitely recommend dine in. The food was amazing full of flavor and spice, the staff is amazing even had the chance to talk to the owner Tammi. She an amazing person and I will definitely be back thank you Tammi for your great service.
The food is absolutely delicious!!
Good food, needs more publicity, and is under appreciated
Great food! We were a bit skeptical as the place was completely empty at lunch time. Thankfully the food was great and came out piping hot and with great flavor and heat. Basil fried rice was delicious. Our table enjoyed the pad Thai, chicken satay, spring rolls and dumplings. Pay this place a visit and let's get them some more business
We really love So Thai. The food is always good. We’ve only dined in a few times but it was usually a good experience. We normally order carry out. We really love their food. It’s so yummy!
This is our go-to Thai place. Great food, portions, and workers. Cool interior if you dine in. Fast with carry out.
I had an amazing dining experience at So Thai Restaurant! 😋 The Vegetable Spring Rolls were a delightful start, and the Pad Thai was a must-try! 🍲 The flavors were on point, and the service was excellent. I'll definitely be back for more! 👏👏
Really good Thai food. Fast takeout and friendly staff. Our go to for Pad Thai, Curry and fried rice
We like this place has really good food
Great food !!!
The noodle portions could be a little larger, but it is by far the best Thai nearby.
The food was delicious. No complaints. Great stop before heading to pine knob.
Great Thai food! The service is always good. The prices are pretty much on par with other Thai places. Their spice can be a bit much, but if you get it on the side you can add in as little or as much as you like.
Metro Detroit's Best Thai Restaurant. Consistent, flavorful, beautiful design. You will not be disappointed.
recently got takeout here and everything was very good! medium spice level was perfect amount of heat. we got the pad thai and pad see ew then some crab rangoons which had real crab and so tasty - can’t wait to try some curry and more items from the menu!!!
omg my new favorite place.
This is some of the best Thai food in the area. They have the best level of spice, flavor, and taste. Highly recommend any dish here.
I've been eating Thai food for 40 years. I ate here 5-6 times. But on 25JN 23 ordered Pad see ew mild. & one no spice. Mild was too hot to eat. It also did not taste anything like Pad see ew from any of the maybe 30 other restaurants I have eaten at. The no spice tasted the same, just not like Pad see ew. $30 bucks down the drain.
My wife and I just had dinner here. I couldn't believe we were the only dine in customers. Tuesday @ 7pm I thought would be a peak time.
Great food, good atmosphere and service.
I hope the location works for them.
It's worth finding this place and dining here.
I have been to Thailand and the food here is authentic and delicious.
GO.
Best Thom kha in the state. Always have loved their food!
Definitely our go to thai restaurant when im in the area. Its sooo good. The restaurant looks like it was an Applebee's at some point but now it has a very chic vibe. Also does a good job with carry out.
Average Thai food but great service!
Apparently, they recently halved(roughly) the size of the dinner portion for pad Thai. Used to get carryouts a few months back and the container would be almost unable to close because it was so full. Maybe half full today. Called to ask and they confirmed that they made the portion smaller. Very disappointed. I'm hungrier than this portion size. Gonna end up going back out again later now or having to cook when I'm exhausted from work this week.... I would much much rather see a price increase than a portion reduction. This is a huge pet peeve. All sorts of companies do it, it's just normally seen at the grocery store being done by huge corporations. Not the thai spot down the road... Prime Thai is looking like it's gonna be the spot if I want pad Thai now. Sorry.
Post-reply to owner... When I called and asked if the dinner portion had changed sizes, I spoke to the same girl that took my order and cashed me out. She told me other people had asked that recently too, and that the dinner portion had changed sizes. And was told to have a nice day
House fried rice w/chicken and eggplant dish/beef were amazing! I thought the drunk noodles had too much liquid smoke in them but otherwise everything was delicious.
Cute new restaurant space, but it seems underutilized. I would suggest for them to play some music, and turn on the TVs in the bar. It was very quiet when we dined in on a Saturday evening. The bar looked beautiful, but there was no one there! Thai noodles are a little different than normal. They are big squares, not long strands. Spicy is very spicy! If you're not sure, get it on the side. You can always add more, but you can't take it out!
The food was terrible and it tasted burnt it had a burnt flavor it was not good at all... Just my opinion
Great thai food. We tried peanut curry and basil fried rice with ‘so spicy’ spice level. The blend of coconut milk, peanut and spicy was awesome. Definitely we will come back :)
This is my go-to place for Thai in Oakland County. My favorite meal is Flipping Fried Rice.
We had take out. Food was delicious and full of veggies just as promised with paying for extra veggies 😋
Food was horrible. Tom yum soup was great. However Too much salt in each curry we ordered. When asked for replacement we were told that this is how curries are made. I have been to so many Thai restaurant and never had curry with too much salt like this. They were generous enough to give us refund for our food.
Excellent Thai food. It seems like some passion and creativity exists here. That is uncommon!
$15.50 for lemongrass chicken. One sliced breast in a pool of generic sauce, wilted soggy pieces of lettuce and a couple pieces of broccoli. Worth maybe 7-8 bucks at best. Lemongrass soup wasn't too bad. Prices are too high. Sticking to prime Thai down the street. Much better for your money.
They don't know the difference between Cabernet and Chardonnay
Awesome Thai food 👌.
Was here for take out, so atmosphere was not important. There was only one table being served. I wanted assistance in ordering, but as only one person for the 4 people wanting take out, service was lagging. The food was very good, seasoned as requested. So that was the important take away.
Fantastic lunch with customers. The restaurant is really nicely decorated and the seating is nicely spread out and comfortable unlike some other Thai restaurants. Service was very fast and friendly. The food was all amazing, slightly on the spicy side but in a good way. The appetizer platter was the best part. I highly recommend this place and I will be back when I'm in the area.
So pretty on the inside. You MUST try the Chicken Satay!
First time trying Thai food. Potstickers and Crab Rangoon starters were good. Got the Chicken Pad Thai and Beef Pad Pak, both were delicious. Went mild for the pad Thai and it was just the right amount of spice. Had the coconut ice cream for desert which was as good as I could have imagined, texture was more like a sorbet. The coconut sticky rice & mango was good too. Price was refreshing, $50 for two including 2 beers and a Thai Iced Tea.
This is hands down one of the best thai restaurants I have ever been to. the food is phenomenal. Appetizers like chicken satay, and spicy calamari were absolutely delicious. We tried the pad thai and drunken noodles, and it was absolutely fantastic. super authentic, and good flavour from the wok.
Not to mention the prices are incredibly affordable, especially for today's inflation market. I would give this place 6/5 stars if possible.
Great for lunch. Really enjoyed the pad Thai.
Fresh food served up very timely. Staff was quick, and the service was excellent. Excellent!
Great food, fresh and spicy.
Been a costumer here for 5+ years (before the new location) food is absolutely amazing every time, staff is friendly, food is fast, i eat here once a week and have never had an issue with dine in or take out. I promise you won’t be disappointed!!! BEST THAI AROUND!!!
Excellent taste. Medium is not as spicy as expected so order hot if you like the heat. Food was fresh.
I just have to say: wow. This place is truly a hidden gem. It is honestly a shame that management didn’t set up this business in the heart of Royal Oak, Troy, or Birmingham—as it would have made a killing there: but I’m happy to keep it to myself. I have been to many a Thai place in my life and nothing compares. Every dish is delectable (although I especially enjoy the Pot Stickers and Red and Green curry items—and my girlfriend raves about the curry noodles). Not only is the food made to juicy perfection with consistency, but the sizes are beyond generous and is delivered for takeout or eat-in within 10 to 15 minute at MAXIMUM. The only other shame to be mentioned is that the place is mainly used as takeout, while its interior was expertly designed in a tasteful yet authentic manner and is honestly fit to be a novelty, high-end, eat-in diner (which is unfortunately rare for Thai food in my experience). I would highly recommend it.
First time and had a rice noodle dish with pork. It was so good. I will be back.
I ordered the Chicken Drunken Noodles medium heat and the Crab Rangoon take out, and it's great I liked it a lot
Excellent food, but plan to be seated 10 minutes after you walk in. And a while for your check. And a while for a receipt. And your soup, salad and meal all at the same time🤔
Fast service. Good food.
5 spice soup is amazing every time!
So Thai's food is absolutely delicious. We've tried several Thai restaurants in Waterford but always go back to So Thai.
This place is always fantastic. Had pad Thai tonight and it was great as always
I don’t normally post reviews, but this restaurant is fantastic! The flavors in all of the dishes we ordered were perfect, and the service was excellent. Some of the best Thai food in the area.
Edit: Just ate here again, this place is seriously amazing!!!
Glad I found where they moved to, well be back
My go-to Thai food take out in Waterford.
Delicious all around! We love the Flipped Fried Rice, Drunken Noodles and curry dishes. Great service, clean restaurant.
So Thai is excellent the few times I've now been there. They're very fast, and reasonably priced. Staff is great, helpful, and prompt. I've had Pad Thai, the spring rolls and both were very good.
I'd give a negative 10 stars If possible called multiple times for a carry out which requires minimal service n can't even handle that there garbage n have rats in the restaurant enjoy your meals 😋
8/2022 Excellent!
Delicious!!! Great menu and nice lunch spot. Best Thai cuisine in the area!
Great Thai Food!!! Whether you order in or takeout they have good size portions.
Curry noodles are delicious! Love the atmosphere and the inside is so cute and nice!
Excellent food.
Really solid food (spicy shrimp fried rice in my case) served quickly in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Reasonable prices and healthy portion sizes make for a nice value. Will definitely return!
The Kickboxing chicken is awesome.
Great food. The atmosphere is really nice inside as well
Great Pad Thai and Crab Rangoons! Very quick and friendly service, definitely recommend!
Excellent Thai Food!
Delicious hot food yummm I love this place!!
Nice atmosphere, great food! Their bar was not up and running - only beer available otherwise I would give 5 stars.
I love so Thai! It's always delicious and I've loved everything I've gotten there.
The best around
That kickboxing chicken 👌
Showed up before closed, was refused service. We were told they didn't want to serve us because they were already getting ready to close. If they keep up this kind of service I suppose they will need to be ready to close...for good.
The food is excellent here! Great people and great food! Some of the best spring rolls and hot and sour soup to accompany your meal.
