Overall, Golden gate is a must-visit for anyone seeking delicious Thai food with vegetarian options in a welcoming environment. You’ll leave with a full stomach and a happy heart!
Delicious food; we ordered Fried Chicken Dumpling, Tofu Pad Thai and Gang Pa Naeng curry with chicken. The dumplings were tasty, pad thai was a little sweet (even though we ordered a hot spice level), and the thai curry was the best I've ever had. This place is small, with just 4 tables for seating but do not let that turn you away from eating here. The chef and the owner were friendly and we had a nice conversation about food and their restaurant business/experience. Our toddler son was given a side of free shrimp chips which he enjoyed. Will definitely come back to try more dishes.
Time to try a place near home. After all, how will I find the go-to places to hit if I never stop anywhere in those last couple of miles?
I've been hankering for some Pad Thai for days (weeks?) and decided to do something about it today.
Seems Golden Gate, like a number of other restaurants I've been to, is more about carry-out than dine-in (I'm still adjusting to that).
Ordered my favorite, Pad Thai with scallops, hot. First time in, you go with what you know.
5 minutes later, I had a container full of tasty in my grubby mitts and was headed for the door. $14 with tax.
The contents were exactly as expected, a large pile of noodles, et al. The scallops were small and might not have been actually scallops (do your research, people) but it was a delightful dish that, in the future, I'll get extra-hot, though. 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶
The interior could definitely use some work. Looks more like a old German restaurant or a sandwich shop inside but you can't taste decor.
The man who took my order was very pleasant and patient. He also prepared my food. I like that level of authenticity and dedication. His accent showed that he was unlikely to have been born here but he's working hard and making good food. 👍🏼 That's all I need. I'll be back because the menu is huge! And I like nearly everything on it. Next up: Pad Thai Curry (that's new to me!)
Very good Thai food, nothing fancy, a good spot in general
The service and food here are wonderful.
Very good food!
Food is not bad, the pho is ok not like any other pho but is the original pho that made from stretch. The service is like small family business is not bad and not busy. Food might take long is because it made fresh and not like what you think going to buffalo wild wings. Any other ingredients for your food you had to ask.
Will come back to this place
The spring rolls were excellent. I had pineapple fried rice. Excellent! Will definitely go back.
the food was very tasty and the portions were great.
the server was really nice, and she was recommending things to my party.
space is tight and home like, most orders from others were to go.
would definitely go again!
Awesome Thai food and it’s just what you’d expect from a tiny place. One of the best Thai food places around and I try them ALL !
Small and cozy, went in for my husband's birthday with a party of 7. While we had a large order, they were very prompt with getting our food to us.
We're already planning on coming back.
We ordered the green curry, pad thai, and pad thai curry. Everything was incredible.
I got the Thai soup and noodles with Curry and were the best I have ever had
Fantastic, best Thai I have yet to eat in Michigan. If you want more authentic Thaiflavors, just ask! They will cook to your wants. Where else can you do that? Pad Thai with tamarind was awesome. Green Curry was so aromatic and flavorful. My only gripe, hard to find light switch in bathroom... lol
First time trying this place today have to say was really good we'd order from them again.
Place is extremely small. Food very good though I would carry out. Not really equipped for diners
Those chicken egg rolls things are the bombbbb. And the sauce is like that McDonald's sauce everyone freaked out over but better. I'll take 14 of them ♥️
Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff and great prices. Quaint family owned Thai food. Delicious and affordable! Great Thai food for a Midwestern palette.
Very plain amd lacking traditional flavor. Food was just spicy but not flavor/color whatsoever. Disappointed tried both Padthai and drunken noodles.
My first time trying this place yesterday I can't have any spicy food Without the spice their food was horrible my first experience is my last I would never go there again it tasted awful
By far the second best Thai I have eaten tied with a Thai national that cooked for me special dishes for several years and of course #1 is when i was in Bangkok. And only because many of vegetables found in Thailand were not available here. This truly has been the best Thai i have eaten in years.
Staff is very nice, the crab dumplings were great but sadly the almond boneless chicken was all breading and very hard and crunchy.

The food was good, but I would just like to critique something very small. I think they should use a different coconut milk brand like Aroy D coconut milk. I can taste the coconut milk and it tastes like Thai Kitchen coconut milk, other than that it was good. My mother didn't like the fried rice, but I didn't have a problem with it.
Most delicious and authentic Thai food I’ve had in the metro Detroit area. Definitely a hole in the wall type spot you must check out.
We looked for Thai Food on line and found this new option to try. It is a very small family operated restaurant, which was real clean and the food was phenomenal. The owner was very sweet, exceptional service and meals were reasonably priced.
Food was delicious. Chicken wings was a 10/10!!!!!
Very delicious and full of flavor thai dish! Large quantity and very reasonable pricing One of my top favorite places!!
Wonderful food, so flavorful and fresh, the owner was so sweet too.
Tiny place just around the corner from me. How I missed it until now I have no idea. Big portions, quite a wide variety too! Try it you'll like it!
Great wonton soup, shrimp rolls, and fried wonton.
Was craving Thai food and after finding out my usual spot was closed for the holiday I decided to give this place a try. Not only was it closer but it was also cheaper and gave better portions, the food quality itself is amazing and I even tried a dish I wouldn’t usually order. Even when placing a pickup order the time frame they gave was exactly as stated. Overall very good experience and would order again.
I love Thai food and I feel like it’s not easy to find a good spot . The food was so yummy and super fresh . The mango sticky rice was delicious and I’ll be back to try more of the menu.
The spice level was perfect, I got medium plus . So yummy . Highly recommended. The service was great.
Not a lot of seating but still great for a yummy meal.
First time here since new management. Talked with the owner, she was nice and the food was great!
Place is amazing , I had the chicken pad Thai with no spice. Absolutely amazing food, the crab ragoons are great as well. Must come and check this place out.
Ordered gai kow chicken fried rice shrimp lo mein sesame chicken our family has been ordering from Golden Gate for 30 years and then change of ownership didn’t disappoint. Very delicious.

We're new to the area and are pleasantly surprised how good Golden Gate Thai Cuisine is. A hearty recommend!
One time they made a mistake (cooked a dish with onions when asked not to), but quickly remade my food when I mentioned the error.
Great service and food at a fair price.

Pad Thai and crab rangoons were excellent. Will probably be my new go-to spot. Only con is they are a little pricey. I have never ordered pad Thai and not gotten 2 meals out of it until here. But the taste is worth it!
not the same owners or something but the food is nowhere good as it use to be .
Owner was very inviting and kind. I had the massaman curry and it was amazing. The flavor was on point and it tasted very fresh. I look forward to trying everything else on the menu. Golden Gate #1 !!!
Wow! Absolutely phenomenal food :) Fast, fresh, hot delicious! :)
Absolutely Delicious 🤤 Place doesn’t look like much but DON’T let that scare you away. Young lady in there doing it all! I had the Chicken Pad Thai and Shrimp Pineapple Fried Rice, and I was dancing while I ate it. It was a great surprise when I decided to wing it one night! Golden Gate kept it up!
Best Pad Thai / Curry Pad Thai around, no question. Consistently top notch, just the right amount of peanut flavor and fresh cut lime to offset the warmth of the curry. Not overly spicy, just pleasantly warm when you order it mild.
the lady running the restaurant is very pleasant and gracious to her customers. The atmosphere, well it's a work in progress. It's clean, but realistically you'll be ordering take out anyway. Doesnt really matter cause the food is fantastic.
Will continue coming here regularly for my pad Thai fix!
THE VERY BEST RESTAURANT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY &, WARM WELCOMING. THE HAVE VERY GOOD FOOD &, THIS RESTAURANT IS, VERY HIGHLY HIGH RECOMMEND. THE VERY BEST THAI FOOD. YOU WILL BE WALKING OUT WITH A SMILE BECAUSE, OF THE EXPERIENCE HERE💯%. IT IS A NOT A CHINESE RESTAURANT AT ALL. NEW OWNERSHIP &, YES THEY DO HAVE VERY GOOD FOOD &, MORE.
Delicious foods, I recommended Pad Thai
Thai foods very delicious, I love Fried Rice and Pad Thai. I’m really recommend.
Food was on time and hot when we got home. Had the Thai Curry (medium) and added brocoli, along with the Honey Chicen. Medium was pretty spicy for me, but it didn't stop me from eating it. The real winner was their fried rice, some of the best I've had! Well worth stopping in and grabbing dinner.
