The Amarin in Wellesley has been a local, family-owned establishment and cornerstone of the Wellesley community for over 35 years. We take tremendous pride in serving the highest quality, authentic Thai cuisine in the greater Boston area. We at Amarin are deeply committed to providing our patrons with the highest level of customer service and an unforgettable culinary experience. Come let us share our passion with you and make you feel like a part of the community we have learned to call home.
We have been here previously and it was good but this was genuinely the worst Thai food we have had in our lives. It was all frozen and clearly reheated and the sauces were simply tasteless water. I'm not even sure how you can manage to make a curry so watery and tasteless, and we had multiple of them. The "gluten free cashew chicken" was simply steamed plain chicken and vegetables- absolutely no sauce. The chicken that this restaurant uses is not the right type of chicken to use in Thai dishes - it is hard and tough to chew. If you blindfolded me and asked me what type of food I just ate, I wouldn't know I was eating Thai food.
Thai hospitality in its best.
Quiet clean cozy place. Very interesting interior, pictures, photos, decoration everywhere, wooden sculptures, panos. Great menu and the cuisine is even better. The dishes tasted like it was cooked fewinutws away. Very friendly staff.
I was genuinely surprised how much it resembles the restaurants back in Thailand.
Located a few blocks away from Wellesley Square. Local street parking can be a challenge. It's up the street from the municipal parking lot next to the library.
Friendly staff, lateness restaurant in a lower street/basement location.
Large assortment of dishes but prices are relatively expensive. Lunch has more reasonable and affordable but limited selection of dishes. Decent serving sizes. Many plates don't come rice so it's ordered separately.
Place can get packed on the weekends.
Bathrooms are located downstairs further in the basement area.
The best Thai food I've had near Wellesley so far, and it's not even close. Definitely check this place out!
Food was all tasty and staff attentive and friendly. My one complaint is that I'm expecting certain dishes to be very spicy but they were not. The standard hot soup with shrimp and mushrooms at every other Thai restaurant have always been very hot. This one not so much. We also ordered a seafood dish rated the max 3 stars spicy and once again just mildly so. If you like your Thai food spicy make sure to tell the waitress to make it that way.
I'm rounding up from 3.5 stars in reality. This place used to be of exceptional quality - it's been over 27 years since I last visited. Tonight I'd say it was so-so. The service was great - the core noodles were great - but the shrimp in both my soup and pad thai were all very overcooked and the Tom Yam, while packed with mushrooms, lacked zip/complexity (no sour in the hot-and-sour). It was a very acceptable dinner for sure - but certainly not super.
Friendly staff, quick service, and delicious food. A great selection, too! I got the yellow curry and the hot & sour soup. Try them both! Portions are perfect—no waste or leftovers.
I have been eating at this restaurant for more decades than I care to remember. I think that their Pad Thai is the best I have found. Awhile ago, there were some problems with some of the staff who were sometimes rude to you if you complained about a problem you had with the food. That there were any problems with the food was, itself, an unfortunate development.
I cannot report the exact dates, but the restaurant changed hands and now many of the previous staff members are back and they are as friendly as they had always been. The quality of the food is once again back to its high standards. And, I still frequent Amarins in Wellesley, one of my most favorite restaurants!

Consigliato.
Great food, wonderful service and quite reasonable too!
Thai food about as you would expect. The flavors were kind of muted.
Really good food. Employees are always extremely kind and friendly.
everything from the food to the atmosphere is The Best
Went first with a friend who worked in Thailand for 3 years, he said it was the best and most authentic Thai food outside of Thailand . I have been back since and it is always a great meal.
Yummy Thai, their black pepper curry was delicious. The waitress did a great job keeping my water glass full for me so I didn’t die of the spice!
There were NO cashews in the cashew chicken, there are only 4 pieces of satay and they were about half the size as they used to be, extremely expensive for the amount of food you get. We were disappointed.

I have been going to this Amarin for over 30 years and the food has been reliably good with great service and a homey atmosphere. It is a staple of family dinner and an overall great restaurant.

food so good i forgot about my anorexia
I recently went to Amarin of Thailand and marveled at how the restaurant has kept it’s impeccable standard after all these years. My family has been dining with Sam and his family for over 25 years (since the restaurant was in Newton Corner). Every savory dish on the menu is made to perfection, infused with the most tantalizing flavors you’ll ever experience. Amarin’s cuisine is exceptional, from the appetizers, my favorites being: Chicken Satay, Siam Rolls, Saigon Dices, Shrimp in a Blanket, and recently added Chicken Wings, to the entreés: Beef Macadamia, Yellow Curry, Seaman’s Platter, Salmon Choo Chee, Pad Thai, and Indonesian Fried Rice, just to name a few. When dinner arrives, it's always a production. And with every bite, you'll experience the unique flavors that make these savory dishes a rare find. Oh, and to cleanse your palate, do try the sorbets or the mango cheesecake - you’ll thank me for it later ;) Five Stars on all fronts including cleanliness 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Meh okay
Masaman curry was plain with no vegetables. Pad Thai’s noodle to everything else ratio was very off. Was hoping for something better given the high rating.
Eat in or take out, it's all good.
Very nice Thai restaurant. I especially like their duck.
Amazing food and great service!

Love this place. Fresh, delicious, my favorite Thai in the area. So good
We love Amarin in Wellesley. We got takeout tonight for dinner and once again, it did not disappoint. It was so, so good and they are very nice, to boot. Great business!!
I have been going here for decades. The food is great. I especially like their curry dishes, in particular the green curry and masaman curry. I recently placed an order for them through Grubhub, which Grubhub messed up (I will never use Grubhub again - just order directly from Amarin), and Amarin fixed and re-delivered it at no charge. I highly recommend this place.
Good restaurant. Quick service. Nice ambience for dinner. There were steps to get in, so not sure if this place is accessible on wheelchair.
Such amazing food.

Foods were great. They got a nice selection of beers and wines as well. Chicken Wings were to die for.
The best Thai food you'll ever have!!
Amazing thai restaurant located in Wellesley square. They have an amazing brown rice mix that will leave you thinking regular brown rice is boring and bland. We had an amazing tofu green curry and shrimp pad thai. We also tried their sampler plate and found that the shrimp in a blanket were an interesting and delicious though the rest of the sampler plater was just more fried rolls.
Decent place for lunch. Very reasonably priced.
Went with a friend for lunch. Food was very good, except for the mushroom soup, which featured fresh uncooked mushrooms. Not my taste.
After getting takeout at Amarin of Thailand, I had horrible food poising and was bedridden for 24+ hours. Would not recommend - food is expensive and the risk is real.
Ok
Shrimp & noodles was delicious. Quick take out service. $10.50
Unbelievable Food.
I will literally never order from Amarin of Thailand again, and will recommend against them to everyone I know. I am so bothered by the poor conduct of the staff. They called me, multiple times, and did not release my order until I answered, just to ask me why I hadn't provided a tip through my credit card. Upon arriving (mind you, it took the full hour allotted in the delivery window) the driver called me and said he was at my door. I went outside in the frigid cold and ended up having to wait for multiple minutes before he pulled up. He then did not even get out of the car, and instead rolled down the window and gestured for me to approach his car- not cool, actually pretty scary (approaching unknown vehicles is how you get kidnapped). The driver had me reach into the front passenger seat to get my food, did not confirm who I was or that it was the right order. As I turned to walk away, he called out after me "hey, aren't you going to tip?? Where's my tip??" and continued to call out loudly after me as I walked back to my building. He must have demanded 5 or 6 times. I'm sorry, with this extreme lack of service I refuse to tip, especially considering I was already charged both a delivery fee, and a service fee (which was not shown or mentioned anyway until the final stage of checkout). Those two fees alone resulted in a 17 % addition to my bill. When I finally opened my order, I noticed that the pad thai had not met the specification I had placed on it (no shrimp and extra limes), which seemed bizarre. Seriously, is it even pad thai without lime?? It was incredibly flavorless, the eggs overcooked, and unlike nearly every other thai restaurant ever there was no chicken in it. The noodles were super dry and lacking in sauce. Okay. So I open the green curry- it's not a green curry. Either they gave me the wrong order or just gave me the wrong curry. Seriously not cool. This is not what I ordered or wanted, and not what I agreed to pay for.
Used to be consistently good. Now only occasionally good. It was our go-to Thai restaurant for 25 years but we have moved on. BUT on 8/18/19 went back and 2 out of 2 dishes were excellent!
Nice selection all the dishes we tried were good to excellent. Definitely will return
Great service & great food
Food was very tasty and fast; I've been here several times and always had a very positive experience.
Meh
Great food
Excellent food and service. This was my first time here and I stopped-in for a quick lunch. I thoroughly enjoyed my Pad Thai and Thai Iced Tea. I will be back to try some other dishes when I am in the Wellesley area again!
Amazing food!!! Really loved Veggie fried rice and crazy noodles!!! Fried ice cream was incredible!!!
Delicious and authentic

Great hidden gem in Wellesley. Food and service was great!! Definitely going back near future.
Awesome pad thai!
Great taste, some portion is not as big as I expected.

The food was quite good! It was a little on the bland side, but good. The service was attentive, but not personable and a little cold.
We called for takeout and we were told 30 minutes. It took over an hour.
Wonderful food, some of the best Thai anywhere, and great prices - especially for lunch during the week! We've been going since 1993, soon after they opened, and quality and creativity have been consistently excellent all ... Good grief, has it been 24 years??
Delicious peanut sauce.
Food is really good and staff is friendly. It's reasonably price.
Decent Thai food at a reasonable price. Tasty but a little greasy. Very good service.
The pho was delicious
The food is excellent; the service was a bit slow.
The food here is not bad, but I prefer the fried rice at Lemon Thai. The smell and decor of the restaurant was really strange when we came.
Best Thai food in area. Never a wait for a table.
The best Thai food and great service in the area!
Lots of options for vegetarians
I grew up eating at the location in Newton and the one in Wellesley offers the same menu and somewhat casual dining experience. The service is good and it seems that no matter what I order, I always end up liking what I get. There is no parking lot that I know of at this location so street parking might be a bit tough depending on when you come.
To the Thai-food lovers in Wellesley, this restaurant is just around the corner from Lemon Thai and the food is ten times better. The food can actually be spicy and the dishes and flavors are amazing. The portions are bigger and the prices are slightly higher (think $10-$14 for a plate) than Lemon Thai, but I promise you it is a much more authentic experience.
Best Thai in this area. The food and service is consistently excellent.
Love stopping in here for lunch -- great food.
This place is alright. The portions are quite small and the space is a bit funny.
