The Best Thai Restaurant in Malden!
This is a very cute and small place which has a cozy vibe. We went for dinner to this thai restaurant. There wasn’t any wait, we were seated immediately. We ordered a couple of dishes starting with chive cakes, tom yum soup and drunken noodles. The taste was really good! One of the best drunken noodles I’ve ever had! We also ordered thai iced tea which was delicious as well. It had that perfect balance and taste. The service was also good. The portion size was also sufficient for one person. They also took care of our food choices as it was all vegetarian or vegan. I would highly recommend this place for your thai cravings!
First time we ordered from here and the food quality is good! Portions can be bigger. We had chicken pad thai and it’s delicious! We also ordered beef noodle soup. It’s more herbal taste, not like the usual boat noodles. The meat texture was good too. Will try other dishes next time
I recently visited Crying Thaiger in Malden and had a generally good experience. The food was quite enjoyable, especially the Pad Thai, which I would highly recommend for its authentic flavors and well-balanced seasoning. The service was solid, though it could have been a bit more attentive. The atmosphere really stood out, offering a cozy and welcoming environment perfect for a relaxed meal. Overall, it’s a nice spot for Thai food, and I look forward to coming back to try more from the menu.
Crying Thaiger is, without a doubt, the hidden gem of Malden, MA, when it comes to authentic Thai cuisine. From the moment you walk through the door, you're greeted with genuine Thai hospitality that makes you feel right at home. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring that every you’re in for a delightful experience to remember.
The menu at Crying Thaiger is a true celebration of Thai flavors, catering to all palates. Whether you're in the mood for something sweet, spicy, or savory, they have it all. Each dish is meticulously crafted with authentic ingredients, delivering a burst of flavors that transport you straight to Thailand. My personal favorites include the Pad Thai, bursting with rich flavors and perfectly cooked noodles, and the Green Curry, which strikes the perfect balance of creamy and spicy.
The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making it a perfect spot for both casual dinners and special occasions. The intimate setting is adorned with charming decor that adds to the overall Thai experience.
In short, Crying Thaiger sets the gold standard for Thai cuisine in Malden and the surrounding areas. The combination of exceptional food, warm hospitality, and a cozy atmosphere makes it a place you’ll want to return to again and again. It truly doesn’t get better than this. Highly recommended!
One of my favorite Thai restaurants around the Boston area. Three years later and everything remains the same: flavors, service, aesthetics. It’s a perfect place for date night or catch up with friends.
A must order is the roti with the yummy green curry sauce and any dish with crispy chicken. If you leave room for dessert, try the mango sticky rice! You won’t be disappointed.
So delicious and a cute place! I loved how quick the service was, everyone was super friendly, and the food was phenomenal! I got the clay pot kua gai. Very cute present and for the price it was a lot of food! So tasty! My husband got the prik pow with fried chicken! It was so yummy!
Thai iced tea, Thai iced coffee, and the very cute Thai slush all delicious!
The Thai wings online vs in person. $9.95 for this nonsense in THIS economy is vile. Don’t order unless you like tiny, dry, bland wings that are nothing like they are advertised to be. I’m very disappointed because I’ve actually ordered here during the last 4 years and love their rice and noodle dishes, but if this is the quality I can look forward to in the future, I’m going back to Thai Basil in Back Bay.
Wow this place is hands down the best Thai food in the Boston area. We got the Crying Thaiger Curry with duck, spicy pad Thai, and Crispy Fish Basil. I recommend all three!! The curry was mild in spice but rich and flavorful. The duck was crispy in the curry and perfectly cooked. The best duck I’ve had period in any Asian restaurant. The pad Thai wasn’t really spicy but still delicious and had a good amount of sauce (not dry). The crispy fish had an amazing crunch to it and had a delicious sweet salty flavored sauce. I also loved the Thai green tea which was creamy and not too sweet!!
My only complaint is the Crying Thaiger NY strip steak, which I got for takeout. It looked like a piece of meat that was cooked and sat out for a long time because the inside was literally blue. Everything else was awesome though. I can’t wait to come back!!
Avoid this location, a lady ask me why not give 15% tips, our tips is only two dollars less than 15%, the service is poor, no napkin and self service water, after I give the tips, this lady give me five dollars change by one dollars cash, the food is not bad but the service here is terrible(others are okay but that lady is terrible)

Yummy food and the atmosphere inside was unique.
Really tasty Thai food, the drunken noodle is the best I have ever had in greater Boston area so far. And their mango sticky rice is a perfect desert after spicy Thai food!
Genuinely terrible. Definitely don't order the meatless wings. The meat substitute was fine, but it was hard to tell because whatever they put on it was incredibly off putting. Everything else was very disappointing as well.
I’m a regular here. The food is soooo good and fresh. Literally everything I’ve tried here is very tasty and flavorful.

Refused to serve alcohol because I’m holding a driver’s license from outside Massachusetts
Very delicious. I recommend the mango pudding!
Tried the pad thai. Had a unique flavor compared to other places (slightly sweeter), but really enjoyed it. Love that they used thinner noodles than other places, too
A Thai restaurant in Malden with delicious food and friendly service. This time I ordered Thai fried rice with fried chicken (it can also be paired with chicken, pork or shrimp). The fried rice that was quickly fried by everyone was very fragrant. It was salty and slightly sweet and very delicious. It also had onions and kale. Neutralizes the saltiness of the fried rice. Although the fried chicken is not very big, the outer skin is very crispy and delicious. It is a very unique Asian restaurant in the Malden area.
One of my favorite Thai places. The crying tiger with sticky rice is a must order.
Food was not great. Great decor.
I LOVEEEEE THEIR FOOD YUM YUM
Had a wonderful time, the honey ribs and the crying thaiger curry were our favorites!

This is the best Thai restaurant in the Boston area in my opinion. Brings me back to flavors from a recent trip to Bangkok. Menu goes far beyond the usual suspects and is a mixture of classic and creative fusion.
We tried the roti with green curry, the spicy Basil pad Thai, and the pineapple claypot rice. To drink the Thai iced coffee and iced jasmine tea.
The roti was extremely crispy and the curry gravy creamy and delicious. Spicy Basil pad Thai (we modified to mild) was mind blowing with a textbook perfect spicy-sweet-sour sauce and springy noodles. Pineapple claypot rice was coated in yellow curry with juicy chunks of pineapple, shrimp, and chicken and a crown of pork floss. Jasmine iced tea was very intensely jasmine flavored and scented.
There were many interesting cocktails and dishes on the menu that I’d like to try e.g. Tom yum infused sake and crab paste omelette. We played it a bit safe with our order but will be back to try more!
Crying Thaiger could have gone the Mahaniyom route: made their decor more fancy, miniaturized the plates, and doubled the prices. Lucky for us they kept it ‚rustic‘ so we can go more often.
Ordered a drunken noodle for pick up today.
Got a STAPLE in my dish. Took it out of my gums and took the picture.
A WHOLE ASS STAINLESS STEEL STAPLE IN MY NOODLES. ARE YOU SERIOUS???????
IMAGINE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF I SWLLOWED THAT.
AND THIS CAN HAPPEN TO ANYONE THAT COMES TO THIS PLACE.
Love the food here. Been coming here for 2 years. We drive an hour to come eat here.
Keep up the good work.
I've been here several times and I keep bringing friends and family to introduce them to this great restaurant. Everything I've had is delicious, and the people who work here are lovely. Great service, really comfortable and cute atmosphere.
The chicken thigh massaman curry is astounding. I also have to order the chive cakes every. single. time. The pork belly is phenomenal, I've tried similar dishes at other Thai restaurants and none are nearly as good. The pork is cooked perfectly.
My favorite place for Thai food. Food is always delicious. Have eaten at the restaurant and gotten taken out multiple times, always a good experience. Fav dishes thus far have been the pad Thai, honey ribs, curry puff, crying Thaiger’s shrimp curry. Still so many menu items left to try!
The best Thai food in the area!
Some unusual options and standard Thai fair
Sehr feines und gut gewürztes Essen. Die Musik ist ein bisschen anstrengend
The noodles are amazing.
The food is absolutely delicious!

Waited 15 mins for my food after ordering take out. Ive dined in before so I know the food is good, but I would caution against doing take out on Friday or Saturday Nights.
Incredible food, tons of options for vegetarians, and excellent service. They also were playing early 2010’s pop/hip hop (Usher, Neyo, Ludacris, etc), which was an absolute delight.
Everything on the menu looked SO good. My friends got the yellow curry (that sauce is soo yummy,) the short ribs (super tender and homey) and I got the spicy soup- with seafood and egg noodles (great flavor and cook on the seafood.) we also shared scallion pancakes, pork larb, and crab Rangoon🤤 excellent vibe and flavors 💛
First time trying it today and curry short ribs Melts in your mouth. Pad Thai actually has some flavor, they weren’t shy with the fish sauce. I will be back soon and often
The ambiance at Crying Thaiger adds to the dining experience. The rustic decor and warm lighting create a cozy and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a casual meal with friends or a romantic dinner. It's a place where you can relax, enjoy good company, and savor every bite.
Absolutely incredible Thai restaurant. The service is fantastic, the vibes of the restaurant are wonderful, and the food is ALWAYS on point. We frequently order or visit in person and are always so full after because the food is just so good!!! We love it here.
New discovery! Excellent Thai cuisine, and very fair prices.
Website and Google page said they were open, drove all the way here to see a sign on the door saying “closed all night for private party.” Zero respect for their customers.
One of my favorite Thai restaurants around the Boston area. Three years later and everything remains the same: flavors, service, aesthetics. It’s a perfect place for date night or catch up with friends.

I couldn't put 0 in Service just because the option doesn't exist. Yesterday at 5 pm I went with a friend. There were only 2 tables taken of around 10 available. They put us on one side of the bar and we kindly asked the employee if we could grab the window table and he told us no, with the excuse that the table is for 4 people and we're only 2 of us. They didn't serve our food at the table at the same time, I can't imagine what a large group would be like. They brought me the check when I didn't ask for it and they didn't even ask us if we wanted something else or a dessert, nothing. It was difficult to have a conversation with the noise of the bar and their coffee machine. To top off the discomfort, we realized minutes later that the window table that we had asked for "4" ended up being given to a couple, 2 white people. What a discriminated feeling we had? Good thing only white people are racist, no Asians right? Yesterday I learned that this is not true.
I had dinner there with my family and all of us were very pleased with our meals. The scallion pancakes were the best I've ever had. The menu offers a lot of dishes you don't find in cookie-cutter Thai restaurants and they have plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. I had fried tofu with a wonderful salad of shredded mango. This place is a gem in a neighborhood filled with outstanding Asian restaurants.
- "Every bite is blowing my mind." - my partner's words (concur). Panang curry short-rib / spicy noodle soup / fried taro
- Accommodating, attentive wait staff (we had special requests).
- Even the jasmine tea was like, "woah".
- Homey, artistically intriguing atmosphere.
- Prices: we decided to order extra to-go for lunch this week. ++
First, Wow. I use to live in Seattle and moved to Boston area three years ago. Been trying to find a Thai restaurant that was on par with the authenticity that came with the Asian cuisine influence in Seattle. This IS the best restaurant in the area. I was so emotional that I savored every bite. From the salad, to the thaiger curry, and the chicken basil 😭. What amazing flavors. My pállate was finally fulfilled. I failed to take a photo of the dishes but you get the idea. This will be my go to Thai restaurant so long as I’m in this area. I will recommend it to everyone I know. Oh and let’s not forget the service. So friendly and attentive.
Try the Thai basil and any of the curries! You won’t regret it.
Oh it’s only beer, wine, and sake if that matters. But go for the food!
Amazing local Thai spot. Not much around that matches it's quality.
The crying tiger sauce was the best sauce ever. I was crying while dipping everything.
Crying Thaiger has some of the best Asian food in the entire Boston area. I've been going for years and I haven't had a bad thing yet. Everything is consistently cooked perfectly and they make possibly the best Tom Kah soup I've had in my life. On-street parking may be a little tough to come by depending on your timing, but it's absolutely worth a stop.
The best Thai restaurant in Malden! I live so far but I always come back here to eat with my friends. Highly recommended 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Love everything we've ever gotten here! Tonight, we had their spring special taro tofu puffs which were incredible! Hoping it makes it onto the main menu 🤞
The food was really good for a fair price. We ordered pad Thai, papaya salad, pad see ew, fried tofu, fried fish, mango sticky rice. They were all good especially the pad Thai and tofu. The mango wasn't very sweet but other than that, I recommend this place.
i never liked thai food until i tried this place. probably the most authentic thai food in boston. i rarely visit restaurants again after i first try them but this one i had to.
This small rustic Thai restaurant offered authentic world class Thai cuisine in a warm and cozy setting. Everything on the menu is amazing, but I especially love their classic pad thai, chicken yellow curry, green curry, red curry, basil fried rice, and drunken noodle the most. The service is always great so I highly recommend this place. The only issue is that it only has limited off street parking.
Generous portions and very flavorful food! Will be returning
Curry and kra pow were very good
This place is a big surprise and hidden gem. Five stars!
Great food, seemed very authentic.
Great food n service
** Changed Perspective After a Second Visit**
My initial visit to Crying Thaiger left me impressed with the quality of the Thai food in the Boston area, especially the Chicken Drunken Noodles and Crying Chicken Wings, which I found authentic and freshly prepared. However, my latest experience has compelled me to update my review.
During my second visit, I encountered an issue with undercooked chicken in my soup. Opting not to let this minor mishap overshadow the experience, I did not raise the concern at the time. However, the situation took an uncomfortable turn when paying the bill. After selecting a 10% tip—reflecting my slightly diminished satisfaction—the waitress questioned my tip choice in a manner that felt both inappropriate and confrontational. This encounter left me feeling disrespected and uncomfortable, overshadowing the positive aspects of my dining experience.
Service and respect are as crucial to a dining experience as the quality of the food. Unfortunately, the lack of tact and professionalism shown in handling what could have been a minor issue has significantly altered my view of Crying Thaiger. It’s with regret that I must revise my previous five-star review down to one star, as the recent service did not align with the high standards I initially experienced.
**First Visit review**
The best Thai food I had in Boston area! Chicken drunken noodles and Crying chicken wings are unmatched in authenticity and taste, thanks to everything being cooked fresh.
This restaurant offers incredible Thai food! We tried the Crying Thaiger Curry, drunken noodles, and fried pork dumplings- all delicious! The Crispy Chicken had a perfect crunch and a delightful sweet-salty sauce. However, the Real Thai Coconut water was too sweet and it doesn’t seem like coconut water at all. Overall, we will definitely be back!
Delicious food. Quick friendly Service. Thank you
Place is very clean and the food is consistent and tasty. Staff are delightful. Pad Thai, Crying Curry, Kra Pow... it's one of the best place to eat Thai in mass. Price is right. Anyone leaving low stars probably couldn't find a table or is evil. Its a 10 star restaurant.
Food was ok and staff were amicable
The food and service were really good! We enjoyed our evening at Crying Thaiger!
The best Thai food in greater Boston…
Fun place, great food
Incredible and authentic Thai food - I recently spent 3 weeks in Thailand and it’s the closest I’ve had since coming back!
Super delicious food and amazing service. I love the vibe and atmosphere at the place. They are really considerate about dietary restrictions and make sure you have a very enjoyable dining experience.
Their lunch specials are an incredible deal!
I had a great experience here - good selection, food was delicious, and service was great. They have a number of vegetarian and vegan options on the menu.
I’ve been here several times and every time this place is on point. Every dish I’ve ordered has been phenomenal. Excellent staff. Enjoyable ambience. You should definitely go here. You’ll keep wanting to come back.
Had the house specialty Crying Rib Eye steak. We didn't think the spicy sauce would work but it added excellent flavor to a good cut of beef. Also tried their fried wonton pad Thai which substitutes crispy wonton skins for soft noodles, a delicious alternative that worked well.
We don't normally do desert but the coconut custard was great, served warm in small bowls.
Service was just about perfect.
Prices were reasonable.
Parking was easier than expected.
Bad service
Pad Thai spicy!
Delicious
I got the crying thaiger curry with crispy chicken and it was amazing! Everything I love about red curry and massaman curry mixed together with a nice kick. The curry was so creamy and delicious and very fresh. I would go back just for the curry
did not cry but still excellent food
In town for a family visit, ended with a delightful dinner. Charming waitstaff and cozy atmosphere. Food was amazing.
This is a favorite of many of my friends and I. Never had a bad meal everything is always just perfect. The appetizers are always both beautiful and perfect.
Small Thai place with some of the best food I've ever had. The staff is wonderful and extremely attentive without being overbearing. The space is perfect it's not too big and not too small. This place is the definition of authentic and well worth a visit. I will be back soon!
This is my favorite Thai’s restaurant in Boston. Food’s fantastic and The service’s very good.
Very recommend 😄👍🏻
I am a Malden resident who loves supporting the local cafes and restaurants in Malden. I have eaten at Crying Thaiger multiple times. I wasn’t quite happy with my latest visit. I don’t mind bad food but I do very much mind bad service. This restaurant gives one complimentary prawn chips per table irrespective of the size of the table which I found weird. A person eating alone or a group of 4 will still get one plate of prawn chips. I requested the waitress if we could have a second serving of the complimentary prawn chips for our group and the waitress told me that it was only one serving per table. The only reason I asked was because I saw a customer from another table of 2 people walk up to the counter and take a couple of chips on their own. We were a table of 4. My husband asked the waitress to give us one and charge for it and they gladly charged 2 dollars. 2 dollars for 4-5 prawn chips 😆. I usually tip above 20% at restaurants as I believe in supporting the staff but decided to leave a 15% tip based on how our request for 2nd serving of the chips was handled. I am an Asian who makes those chips at home and know how much a packet costs. I will not be visiting this restaurant anytime soon for sure. Will definitely spend my money somewhere else in Malden.
Sorry guys I didn't take any pictures this day but the food was really good small little spot I ate Pad Thai with shrimp and it was really good if you're interested in some Thai food this is a decent place to go
For the Boston outskirts a little surprised on the lack of taste on some dishes.
However some dishes 5*nailed it.
Huge disappointment....no real Thai chilli's...at least that you can see.
Tasty toasted vegetarian duck rice.
Best Thai food and best takeout option in the area! Extremely consistent. Been going here for 2 years, and never been disappointed. Great gluten free options, and great food!
Incredible Thai food. Spicy basil pad Thai was a delight!
Been there a few times now. The food is pretty good. Have always loved Thai food and they live up to the expectations. The gyozas, red curry, massaman curry are highly recommended. My husband who doesn’t much like vegan food recommends the Duck Fried Rice. I was surprised to see him like it and he even ordered it thrice after we’d been there. The prices are pretty decent and the service is good. We always walk in as there are no reservations and weekends could be busy if you go in the rush hour and have to be on the waitlist.
I can't tell you how many times I have ordered or walked in here. I've had 1-2 things from every section of the menu and I've been consistently impressed. The signature dish, 'The Crying Tiger', comes sizzling on a hot platter, with a sweet and lightly spicy sauce that goes perfect with the brisket and vegetables, but if that's not your speed, be sure to try the Yellow or Crying Thaiger curry!
Exceptional!
Super fun vibe. Great food. Go try this place.
Absolutely love this place. I order almost twice a week
So damn good the ribeye and pork crying thaiger specialties are amazing!!!
Amazing!!!!!! Food was beyond perfect!. I have heard of many great reviews and had to give it a try, and more so because they are veg/vegan friendly. We decided last minute to order take out online rather than dine in, thankfully we did because the place was full with a line outside when I arrived for pickup. I suggest if you would like to dine in on a weekend, call or make reservations online ahead of time, while there people came in to be put on a wait list. The place has about 10-15 tables and can accommodate a large group as well. 100% will be going back for more and next time eating in for the great atmosphere experience.
If you have a person in your party that is vegetarian or vegan ask for what can be made veg/vegan most of the menu can be subbed, when ordering online you have that option to select your restrictions
We order the vegetable pad Thai, scallion pancakes and beef pho noodles.
The vegetable pad Thai is a 0/10 and not worth $14. There was barely any vegetables and the vegetables were extremely overcooked and chewy except the broccoli. The noodles aren’t anything to rave about and the sauce on the noodles tasted like duck sauce. The scallion pancakes were okay.
The food was delicious 😋. Thank you to our good friends for inviting us out to eat here.
Pad thai was very oily and greasy. Barely any chicken or egg, just noodles and barely any flavor. Not a fan. Tried twice and it was consistently awful.
