Farmsook Thai Kitchen invites diners to explore the rich flavors of Thailand in a modern setting. Their menu features innovative takes on classic dishes alongside vegan and vegetarian options, ensuring a delicious experience for all.
Came here for lunch during the week and there was no wait. The restaurant is located on the bottom floor of an office building. Depending on how the GPS routes you, you may not see it right away.
We ordered the Fried Calamari for appetizer. It was very crispy and came with spicy sauce for dipping. For our meals, we ordered the drunken noodles with chicken, crispy tangy chicken, and the lunch special Kapow Gai which came with two veggie rolls.
Everything taste delicious. Seems like the crispy chicken and calamari were fried with the same type of batter.
We chanced upon this Thai eatery in our recent visit to Rockville, MD and were very pleased with the welcoming experience.
The service was pleasant and food mostly was excellent when we visited them for lunch.
Our entrée orders of Pad Phod Pha with shrimps and Ramen Noodles Khao Soi were excellent with the right consistency of taste and heat. Tom Yum soup to start off the lunch was also very nice. Did not like the curry puff that much, but that should not take away the overall fulfilling dining experience.
Restaurant is large and clean. Everything we ordered was very delicious. Best papaya salad we have had. Very good service as well, with the option to specify spice level. I would say the prices are a bit high for the portion size, especially for the Choo Chee Tilapia. Perhaps their rent is higher than other places due to the size of the restaurant, but I think the food is still worth it.
Service and environment are both pretty good. We ordered way too much food (just me and my son), I would expect our server to tell us that this is too much, but I understand that restaurant had very difficult two years. The food is decent, more on the sweet side, but not like that I would long for going back to order again in a short while. We ordered spicy spicy for the drunken noodles, but it was not spicy enough to our taste. The Crispy noodle (with tamarind sauce) is interesting. Again it is on the sweet side and little tamarind flavor. It would be wonderful if the tamarind was stronger. The shrimp was very good, crisp on the outside but tender in. artichoke salad could be better.
What an amazing meal! Literally the best Thai food outside of Thailand, and definitely a must try if you’re in Rockville area. I loved and appreciated that everything was freshly cooked to order. You can tell the difference in the rice/noodles. The portions are generous and our server was attentive. Most impressively, the chef came out to make sure we were satisfied. Mango sticky rice dessert was one of the best I’ve ever had. I’d enthusiastically recommend this place to anyone
A great, aromatic and authentic Thai experience.
We stopped by here for lunch around noon on a Saturday and the place was surprisingly empty considering the great reviews. Our appetizers (Curry puffs, fishcakes) came out promptly with delicious, sweet and complex dipping sauces. I ordered tofu green curry which I requested with a fried bread - both were perfect. My husband had Pad See Yew and two Mai Tais. Which he destroyed. Just note that the kitchen uses regular broccoli, not the Asian type. The only other thing is that the guest wifi is really slow.
For dessert we had the fried banana with coconut ice cream. Perfect!
Our meal was a bargain at ~$60 plus tip..
Todo es muy delicioso y un excelente servicio
Volcano Fried rice está muy bueno 🥵🔥
Food was great! Service was great! First time here and will definitely be back!!

Delicious
Very good Thai restaurant, got the panang curry with chicken and shrimp extra rice. The meal was very delicious, good portion to fill me up and take some home. Great prices, drinks are great, and staff was super friendly. Wish I had this restaurant back home.
One of the best Thai spots in the area! The staff is always so welcoming and the food is consistently great!
Best Thai restaurant in the area. Chef’s kiss 🤪
Great food. Great service. Loved my panang curry with shrimp, just the right amount of heat (little). Pork dumplings tasty. Will return
Great quality thai food.
Absolutely love coming here. A favorite of my partner and I. We always get the dumplings, grandma fired rice and spicy pad thai. Cannot recommend enough. Great lunch specials as well. Not sure if it is the owner or just worker, but always get the same guy serving us. Such a wonderful person and definitely makes the environment friendlier.
We are a doctor's office and order from here a lot. There are so many dishes we order that look familiar. So they label everything to make it so much easier to give to the staff. The food is a 20 out of ten. This is why we order from here so much. Our bills are always over $250.00 so that should tell you how much we LOVE THIS PLACE!! Friendly staff and they make it so easy for our reps to pick the food up.
Had a delicious meal here - we got there for an early dinner and it was quiet and peaceful! The service was super fast and our wait staff was incredibly friendly and sweet. The food was delicious! Highly recommend the drunken noodles and the appetizer platter. Parking is good (lots of free street parking after 2pm). We will be back!
I felt, receptionist is rude. I didn’t like the food also.
Extreme rude staff!
So cute! We had the pleasure of trying Farmsook during the Global Bites event. We found the prices incredibly reasonable, especially for such generous portions.
Our server was friendly and engaging, and the food was excellent. We tried the duck roll, Tom yum soup, Tom kha soup entree, and panang chicken curry entree. It was all very fresh, and they even served a local Thai beer brewed with jasmine.
We will be returning!
This is the best Thai food in the DC Metropolitan area. I highly recommend Drunken Noodles and Panang Curry.
It’s so nice and we had all Thai varieties and dal kasou is the favorite part for me.
Kids enjoyed it too.
The manager was so professional and friendly and helped us choose the best dish as it was our first time. Highly recommend this place. Great experience
Delicious just perfect.
Please turn on the AC
While I haven't dined in before, I've picked up from here so many times. The food is phenomenal, definitely try their new dishes and recommendations, they are very fun twists on Thai cuisine. Favorite dishes include the Yum Neur (grilled beef salad), volcano fried rice, and spicy basil fried rice.
Food was delicious! Veggies crisp and everything well done and flavorful! Staff were fun. Nice evening.
Restaurant is large and clean. Everything we ordered was very delicious. Best papaya salad we have had. Very good service as well, with the option to specify spice level. Farm sucks
I had dinner here last night. Our waitress overheard me and my friend discussing the safety of my E Bike parked outside. She came over and told me I can bring it inside the restaurant and park it near the door, so I could keep an eye on it. I was very impressed and grateful. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Very good Thai restaurant. Mostly fairly traditional menu with some excellent versions. Try the volcano rice.
The food is fresh and the place is spacious, clean and warm. But the flavors are all over the place. Three of the dishes we got were smothered in honey and sweet enough to count as dessert and the fourth one, a noodle soup, was too spicy for words. The guest who ordered it regularly eats spicy food (think ghost pepper sauce) but they said this was inedible. I had read a previous review that said the sauces are too sweet and I wished I had paid heed to it.
Best Tai food I've had in a while.
Great food and friendly staff!
Staff is very friendly and eager to help, and the food is the best Thai food I have tried so far, we ate the appetizer sampler, pad Thai, grandma fried rice and custard with sticky rice. All of them were excellent.
Good food, excellent service, and atmosphere.
Some wait staff is Thai and I enjoyed engagement with them, reminiscing on experiences in Thailand. The food has few American adaptations, if any.
Very good food. Every time we go there we just love it. Only issue is, they use a lot of sugar.
Although I picked up my order the service was good and the food was phenomenal! I loved it! Thanks a lot!
We had another restaurant cancel our orders as we tried to explain a 30% tip was unacceptable. The Farm took care of us!....so grateful.
The food was a Very Pleasant Surprise, not sure how they put these dishes together being beautifully decorated and tasty!
Great place to grab quick Thai food. Food tastes great with generous portions provided when dining in. Menu have various choices. It's a quiet secluded place.
The volcano fried rice with fried chicken is the best spicy dish in the area.
Bland food. Everything seemed like they boil stuff and throw some drizzle of sauce on it. Tiniest portion of rice I've ever seen. Not worth the money at all
I don't like it
Food was very good. Service was fast.
Amazing food! My waitress was extremely kind and took great care of us. My new lunch spot!
Restaurant was clean but the service was terrible and the food was the worst Thai food I’ve had ever had, food was burned and taste very terribly. If anyone looking for great Thai food I recommend KIIN IMM THAI in Rockville pike.
The food was very good, the service was excellent! The waiter was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful as we had never been there before. Ordered Pad Thai, spring rolls and Drunken Noodles with tofu, they were all good. Oh
100% coming again if I’m ever in town. The food portions are big and the taste is soooo good! The staff is super nice as well.
Very good food, outstanding service and great atmosphere!
Did takeout. The food was so bad. Probably the worst one i had in Rockville area. Had high hopes because of the reviews. Very disappointed
This was our first time here as we were visiting from Los Angeles, CA. The person gentlemen who greeted us was very warm, friendly and courteous. He recommended the vegan appetizer that was different but delicious. The Thom Yum shrimp soup was very good and even though it was a one person serving it was well worth it.
He recommended the spicy rice and that was amazing. Overall the the ambience, the people and the food were all great. This was located in Rockville, Maryland, definitely worth eating here.
Chicken satay is great
Tucked away in an industrial area, this spot is great. It's never crowded and service is always quick. The food is always amazing with strong flavors.
Great food, very nice staff. Ask for pooh. She is great.
They have american spicy and thai spicy options.
Friendly service. Delicious food. Reasonable prices. Loved it!
Lovely food. The duck rolls are excellent. Chicken satay is tender and moist. Only bad point. Salads are small. More like a starter portion.
Regret: For far too long, I went to other Thai restaurants because they were closer to my house. I was in Farmsook’s area about a year ago and decided finally to try them out. I’ve rarely eaten at any other Thai restaurant since then.
I have two dishes that are my go-to favorites: red curry with chicken and pad kee mao with chicken. In my opinion, the red curry has hints of a Penang curry and the drunken noodles have a good kick that make sure I’m not eating too quickly. Both dishes are filling without feeling gluttonous.
In all cases, I have Thai iced tea, which is very good at Farmsook.
There is one very important characteristic of the food made by Farmsook that distinguishes them from others: it is consistently the same flavor, texture, quantity, and spiciness. This applies to their Thai iced tea, too.
Moreover, the wait staff is very friendly, alert, and attentive and the food is always prepared and presented quickly.
At other Thai restaurants, I’ve found that in the red curry dish, there may be much more chicken than bamboo one time and the next time the opposite is true. Or the curry sauce doesn’t always taste the same; similar but not the same. The drunken noodles may be mild one time and the next I can’t even eat for the flames in my mouth. The inconsistencies also apply to the Thai teas; sometimes too sweet other times not enough sugar or not enough tea grounds in the mix.
My choice for Thai food is always Farmsook. Consistently great Thai food.
It's a good Thai restaurant. Visited with my friends in a group of 7, all Vegetarian people. Tried Drunken Noodles, Ramen Drunken Noodles, and Cashew Nut with Rice. Rice quantity is very less, could be increased a bit at least. Cashew Nut was so so sweet (with so much sauce). If you are Indian, try the Ramen Drunken Noodles. The staff is helpful for new people. Overall good and might come again.
Great food, Thai level spice.
Pretty good restaurant with authentic flavors. The soup and salad tasted quite similar to what I tried in Thailand. The special curry was ok (the level of spice was right on, which is rare in US), not as good as the original one. Very friendly service. Definitely recommend.
Great meal
I've ordered a lot of Thai restaurants and ask some chili vinegar sauce. this is the FIRST restaurant that charges EXTRA for 1oz chili vinegar sauce and they didn’t ask me if they charge EXTRA MONEY. Lmao. And mobile order that Ice cream is also given much LESS than before I was eat in restaurant.
Authentic Thai food. The volcano rice is fire 🔥🔥🔥. Also has some of the best chicken wings and spicy basil fried rice with fried chicken! I go here all the time.
If you are African American or Hispanic do not eat here they will treat you bad and make you feel like you are not welcome.
It is so nice to eat at Farmsook Thai Kitchen Restaurant.
Delicious food - my kids loved it!
One of the better Thai restaurants. Have generous and tasty lullnch specials. Highly recommended!
Really solid restaurant overall. Showed up with nine people for dinner on a weekday and didn't have too much trouble getting seated. Located on the bottom floor of an office building, but after business hours the parking is really easy to find around here. With the number of people I was with, I got to sample a big portion of the menu. Everything was delicious but nothing really stood out. Service was a little mixed; I'm not sure if the server was new or not.
Friendly staff, delicious food made quickly, and deep flavors from all dishes! I highly recommend this local gem.
Excellent food. I can't say enough about how excellent the Thai dishes are here. The heat, the seasonings, and the prices are all great. Highly recommended if you're in the mood for Thai
Great location. The parking is good. The interior is spotless and well-appointed without feeling too busy. I really enjoyed the tom young soup and chicken satay. I would certainly consider traveling from NoVa to eat here. Staff super friendly. Can't wait for my next visit.
Pretty good Thai restaurant with ample seating.
Good food, expensive. Menu options change and you cannot get items that you used to get. The staff isn't particularly helpful with suggestions or helping you figure out options and hot spice add ons....but they are very nice.
I loved the food and atmosphere. The food came very quickly. I ordered the ramen drunken noodles with chicken and it was wonderful!
Most important info first, the food is great.
Besides that it is a fairly minimalist sort of restaurant. 20-30 tables in the first floor of an office building, small bar and a couple of servers. Business wise it was very slow, I can only assume that is because it was the middle of the week and the location isn't in a place with any real foot traffic to speak of.
Service was good and it was nice to have the restaurant almost all to ourselves.
Food wise this place is top tier for thai food in the area, in my opinion. I have gotten multiple different items and tried things I haven't had before and every dish has been great. I'd recommend something but it has all been great. Well seasoned, served hot, and very large portion sizes for a good price.
This restaurant is amazing. I go to this restaurant at least once a week from how much I love it. The food is amazing, the employees are nice, and the service is good. The best part is that it isn't very busy, so food comes to you faste. If I could recommend any restaurant, it would be this one.
If I could give 0 stars I would. If you are an African American. Do not eat here they are very judgemental and racist. I went there to enjoy Thai cuisine and have a few drinks. They cut me off after 2 Singha beers and 2 shots of jack after I gave my waitress a 30$ tip on a 54$ bill.
Delicious! Friendly and attentive service too.
Just tried Farmsook for the first time, definitely not the last time. First things first-- one of us eats gluten free. Menu is clearly marked with what is gluten free, and every option we gluten lovers had you could select a gluten free option too! So now that gluten lovers and haters can eat from the same place-- the food? Delicious--- we had a range of things from fried rice (amazing), Panang curry (took me back to a place overlooking the Andaman Sea so many years ago), drunken ramen noodles (new to me-- but a nice change fro traditional drunken noodles), and pad prik king (awesome!). Needless to say, we're so glad we tried this place, were so amazed at how quickly our food came, and we will definitely add this place into our regular rotation. Ain't no better thai to be found, and considering there are several good thai places nearby, it makes Farmsook that much more impressive!
Grabbed a bite here with a friend, food was very good , I would suggest it
Delicious food my first time here but anyway is great food and attention. Comida muy delicious y muy Buena atencion recomiendo este restaurant muy Buena variedad en comida.
The food is excellent!
Ordered take-away food I was asked if I needed utensils because apparently there is a charge for that now. Went to pick up my food paid cash and asked the lady for my change I was told they round up??? So you don't tell the customer that? You just decide to take the change? Got my food and it was a waste of money food didn't taste good at all. Will not be going back here!!!
I loved it!
Overpriced for portions but it is very nice on the inside so I suppose they have to charge those prices to pay that rent. I had the drunken noodles they were pretty good but overall I'd go somewhere cheaper also I was not asked if I wanted a plastic bag but charged me for it anyway also did not offer any sauce/condiments. Overall an average experience at above average price.
Ordered a couple of meals here. One was a roast duck. The duck was rotten. Two colors and a strong terribly rancid smell. Called them back and they tried to tell me it was how it tasted and asked if I’d had that meal before. Having lived in Thailand some years back, my answer was a resounding yes. So they said they would issue me a refund and it would hit my account in 7 business days. The wings were quite sharply salty, the rice was a small serving spoon size for what was like a tub of sauce. The only decent thing in my entire order was the summer rolls.
Tried a new restaurant today. Duck rolls, shrimp cakes, artichoke salad, Tom kha gai, penang curry and siamese beef. All of it was very yummy. So glad we went.
The food make me miss my childhood
Delicious Thai food! A must try!
Everything was great! I had the crispy duck kapow, but the other dishes were also excellent. Special praise for the calamari and the drunken noodles.
The atmosphere is comforting, food delightful.
A pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff, amazing food, and great drinks. Quickly became one of my most frequented places.
One of the best Thai restaurants in town. It's a hidden gem located inside King Farm community. My family typically orders Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, Siamese Beef and Spicy Basil Fried Rice and we could have them for dinner every night. Excellent food and great service.
Delicious but also noteworthy for very good quality meat dishes. We tried a variety of their popular takeout items and loved them all. Very well packed, no spills in the car, and food was hot when we got home. Will also try eating lunch onsite in future!
Always liked this place. A good Thai place with reasonable price. Coconut shrimp soup is the best .
Went for valentines day, was not overly busy. Service was quick, food came quick. Overall a decent local Thai joint
That farmsook shrimp dish was awful (opinion of two people). The flavor attempted tasted good but the texture and actual composite of the shrimp was terrible. The shrimp was probably about 1/4-1/3 all fried hard breaded texture. The shrimp was tiny inside. It made it worse because the crust was so thick but also it was pretty hard!!!! Then when you ate it the honey would get stuck to your teeth. I think it was over 20 bucks just for that dish, that is shameful. TBH I appreciate Panda Express's shrimp far more than the dish we were served that night. I honestly dislike it so much I think it should be taken off the menu. It is one thing if it was a taste thing because we all have different flavor profile preferences, but it was a technicality and execution error in this experience. I had a thai fried rice and it was decent, but not something I would go back to this restaurant for. Since we only tried a few things who knows about the other dishes, but lesson is stay away from the farmsook shrimp!
The dumplings were delicious and arrived to the table very quickly. The basil kapow was also very tasty. I'll be back for sure.
Amazing food and really kind and friendly service. I go to for take out.
The best Thai around for vegetarians. They do tofu right. They don't use the pre-made tofu puffs like some places.
The best thai in the area. We get takeout every two weeks.
Good food. Excellent portions.
I love this restaurant, food, and service. :)
Food: Good but not great
Service: Great
Decor: good
Been going here ever since it was called Thai Farm. Best thai food out there
We drove by this place all the time and did not expect much. Dropped in for a lunch with wife. Foods were tasty and their portions were very generous to feed a very hungry couple. We come back.
Had the duck roll for appetizer and the pad see ew with chicken for main course. Both were very tasty and delicious!
My only complaint would be how the roll, and broccoli were cut. Since I was only given a fork it was a bit difficult to eat the broccoli without forking the whole piece and biting chunks off, the duck roll I think would be better cut on a diagonal with sauce on the side; it was a bit too awkward to pick up by hand with all the sauce on top, so I took bites of it off the fork as well.
All in all I would definitely come back here again! Deserves a bit more than 4 stars, but unfortunately Google doesn't allow us to give half or quarter stars.
Such a great experience! Food was flavorful and authentically delicious. The duck curry made my taste buds dance! The duck roll tasted like Peking duck with duck meat instead of crispy skin then a twist--it was wrapped in fried flatbread! Happiness! Pad Sa'ew was on point, with a side of fish sauce and chopped fresh chilli. Drinks we good too! Sweet decorations and clean space made for a great night out. To top it all off, these ladies were so very nice and super attentive.
5his is a very good Thai restaurant. It's unfortunate it is hidden. In an office building in King Farm.
It is well worth being on your regular rotation. The food is very good. The service attentive. If you like spicy, tell them when you order to get the heat dialed up a bit.
I've only gotten takeout but it is a nice little spot hidden away in an office building. So far, I've enjoyed the Massaman beef and the panang curry. The Thai iced tea is also very good and orderable for takeout as well.
Love this place SO MUCH the food here is amazing!!!! and the staff are so friendly and welcoming.
Nothing special. Just an average level Thai restaurant. Table was sticky, so felt not clean.
I want to eat here everyday!!! Ingredients are fresh (and I'm a stickler for fresh ingredients) and the flavors were true to Thai cuisine along with spice level being true for what you would expect of Thai cuisine. If you order hot, its gonna be very hot. It was an AMAZING meal!
It was so good, I ordered the spring rolls twice and got food to go. The owners are very friendly and the restaurant is very inviting. Farmsook Thai sets the bar high in taste, depth of flavor, and freshness. It was so good I forgot to take photos.❤
The food is fresh and the service is courteous and quick to please.
The duck curry was amazing. As were the spring roll and summer rolls!
Not satisfy at all..
Food wasn't good that had other thai restaurants..
What a great food
Was really hoping to rate this one high....service was GREAT, clean bathroom (one stall was out of order though)...but I was not a fan of the food---presentationbof the rice was underwhelming and not at all appetizing. Unfortunately, I wasn't moved to take pics either. Service though----A-
Oh, the soups were really good though🤷🏾♀️
We ordered from here and it was great! Got the pineapple fried rice for the littles and drunken noodles and red curry for the bigs. Everything had a really nice balance of flavors, not the single-note you get at some places.
Very tasty Thai food and great service. Extensive menu with many choices of proteins.
Superb!
Very calm and cozy, non expensive and a great lunch place! Me and my dad ordered the drunken noodles, curry coconut soup, and a few spring rolls, the food was delicious and we both enjoyed this place!
Ordered basil fried rice, drunken noodles with tofu, green curry, papaya salad, eggplant. Amazing food, probably one of the best Thai meals I have eaten. Highly recommend.
Good traditional Thai. It's reasonably priced and the restaurant is tastefully designed.
Thai food, located near a business park, could be good for lunch. Food is pretty ok
Great neighborhood Thai place that everyone wants. Good flavors.. one 🌶️ is just a little bit of spice so can up the heat accordingly. Drunken noodles with shrimp were very tasty and well prepared. Soups were good to the last drop.
Everything here was solid. Great atmosphere and a clean location. No complaints with service either. Only issues I had are with the food itself. None of the dishes were terrible or anything but none of them felt like a perfect 10/10 either. The beef was a tad dry and the chicken was not quite to my taste. 4/5 feels a bit harsh but its leaning towards a 4 rather than a 5 for me.
I had a wonderful lunch at Farmsook with my family: 2 vegans, a vegetarian, and a meat eater. Everyone was happy. The server was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the ingredients. The curries cannot be made vegan, there is fish sauce in the curry paste, but there is still plenty for vegans. They can customize all the dishes, using preferred vegetables, replacing meat with tofu, etc.
I just did a visit with a friend I have not eaten there.
We had a great meal here. The restaurant is well done. There is a wall with a large mural of rice fields and farmers. It is so sad that due to Covid we were the only couple eating in at 6pm on a Wednesday. We had Duck Roll for an appetizer and Green Vegetable Curry and Drunken Noodles with chicken. The food was very good. The waitress was also nice and attentive.
I liked the chicken larb salad and the soft fried shrimp.
The place was absolutely empty on a Tuesday night ( Covid+ business district area I presume) which worried me, however the reviews read good. I’m glad I gave this place a try! I would say it was the best Thai food I’ve had, and I’ve tried many before! Service was took notch and the food fresh, flavorful and just the right amount of spice. Might try to go back before the trip is over!
Great lunch specials. Fast service, good prices, and flavorful food. Would recommend!
