We discovered Green Bamboo due to their half off weekend special and great rating. The sushi, noodles, and soup are all quality, and the service is very good. This is now one of our favorite local restaurants.

I’m sad to give a bad review. I’ve been here two times for their half price sushi. The first time was a wonderful feast, very enjoyable, tasty.

Today, we ordered again, and almost every eel roll had fish bones, and so did the salmon sashimi. This is a freaking health hazard, and my little brother nearly choked when he swallowed one of the sushi pieces without realizing.

I was hoping to make this place a habitual experience, too bad.

Find another job. If you want to keep your customers, do a better job. Do NOT smush the sushi in one box!! It ruins it. And please do better at rolling the sushi. See photos

My first time here. I got takeout. It was very good. The flavors where not to heavy and made for a great dinner. While waiting I got a good look at the place. It feels friendly and look really cozy. I will go back and try the sushi. The prices are perfect for this area.

Very good place to have a chill and Asian meal! Went here for lunch, and had some calamari and sushi! The sushi was good, and the calamari could have had a bit more flavor. My friend got some noodles, and it was pretty decent. Service was good, and would definitely recommend! Sushi is discounted 50% on weekends, so that was a plus for going on a Saturday!

This was a Uber Eats order. It was TERRIBLE! The Thai Iced Tea tasted like PISS. The tempura cheescake bites that was very badly done, the tempura was half cooked. Fried bananas were even worse, half cooked with nasty chocolate sauce horribly drizzled. The sad part about this that I’ve ordered from here before and it was good. This meal that I paid $60 for was the WORSE. Just lost my business.

Love half priced sushi on the weekends

Writing an updated review after nearly four years of not going there because of their gross lack of sanitary habits during the pandemic. Sad to say that not only have things not changed for the better, they have gotten WORSE. It's not a cleanliness factor anymore, it's just terrible food and terrible service. We ordered our food online and were specific about what we wanted and didn't want because everyone in the family is vegetarian and some of us have specific dietary restrictions. We didn't realize that they seemed to have completely no idea or any care whatsoever about anything relating to dietary restrictions. We ended up assuming that they didn't even bother to read what we specified in the comments and requests section in our order online because we did not get anything we asked for and our requests were pretty simple, like no fish sauce or oyster sauce in our entrees. When we got home and discovered that, among other issues, our two entrees had bell peppers in them (even though we have never had those sorts of entrees with bell peppers before), we were really upset. No idea why they suddenly decided to put them in but one of us is allergic to peppers so she basically couldn't have anything to eat except one of the over-fried super greasy spring rolls. Our vegetable tempura rolls had eel sauce on them and an iota of common sense might make somebody question whether to put any fish sauce on a vegetarian roll, especially given that there were specific instructions about fish and oyster sauce on the rest of the order. Apparently now you have to guess every ingredient they MIGHT possibly put into every possible combination of food because they don't tell you the ingredients in their online website and certainly we have never had fried rice or lo mein with red peppers or green peppers in it before anywhere else (or here either). In general everything was just lousy or inedible and we were horribly disappointed but after a four-year break we realized that we hadn't missed out on anything and certainly will never try again.

We usually do takeout - either delivery or pickup. We like to order shumai, orange chicken, lo main and sometimes Szechuan chicken and sushi. Food is always very good and hot, and we order on a regular basis!

First time here. Lunch special is a great deal and service is very friendly and nice. 50% off sushi on weekends I hear is very good and keeps the restaurant busy. Golden triangles are soft! Very nice visit. Hot tea is not complimentary but it was really good. Small little place but bathroom is clean, nice little find. Free 2 hour parking but I'm not sure which garage. Otherwise street parking which you need to pay for.

I've been going to the Green Bamboo for several years and it's definitely one of the top restaurants I recommend to anyone visiting the DC area.

I used to go with my friends since 2021, it was our weekend thing and we never missed. We loved because the food was always amazing and the half price on the weekends it makes perfect, until the begging of this year (2023). We have no idea what happened but the fish quality is terrible, sushi doesn’t taste the same anymore. My friends and I got so sick last time we went there. Honestly I’m so disappointed, it was my fav place. I really hope the quality comes back up and maybe some time we can try again.

I ordered the Beef Lo Main, and it was delicious. The service was amazing also. I'm visiting from Louisiana and won't ever forget this memory. Thank you.

I've ordered Green Bamboo multiple times and I'm not a fan of the General Tso's or Orange chicken. I find the flavor lacking in depth and dimension. But the SUSHI. Whoever makes the spicy yellowtail hand rolls needs a raise RIGHT NOW. One of the best in the area.

We have loved all 6 items we've ordered thus far:
1. Tempura Vegetable Bento Box = so, so GOOD!! = a huge amount of tempura vegetables (eggplant, sweet potato, broccoli), 3 pieces of very tasty shumai, a tangy fresh salad with orange ginger sesame dressing, 6 piece classic California roll & very soothing classic miso soup
2. Honey Crispy Chicken = great portion of food, with excellent fried rice (we chose the fried rice!)
3. Spring Rolls = nice, crunchy, fresh
4. Golden Triangle = very hot right out of the fryer, a little too plain perhaps, but combines well with other parts of the meal
5. Inari Tofu Sushi Roll = maybe a little expensive for what you get, but it's a sweet classic sushi that we use to end our meal
6. We also have enjoyed cold Sapporo to pair with everything

Service is EXCELLENT at this restaurant - each & every time we've visited! Unlike most places, we don't order to-go; we sit & eat fresh here. Honestly, the service is so good that we want to stay & sit. The food is hot, the vegetables fresh, the drinks are refilled quickly, the decor is lovely, the pace easy, the place chill & happy.

Beware if you have gluten intolerance! I hated to give this rating but I have to let them know about the 20.00 sushi I ordered that I could not eat. I ordered the platter that comes with a spicy salmon, spicy tuna and spicy yellowtail roll. I have been eating sushi for most of my life and I have never had a roll that was full of chopped up tempura flakes ,(assuming that's what it was). I have had flakes sprinkled on top but never mixed in with the roll.

Even if that is normal, the ratio should not be 3:1 in favor of the flakes. Not only was it inedible bcz it felt like you were eating shards of something hard and crunchy,... Also as you can imagine this made the role very dry. On top of already having rice on the roll.

But most importantly, I am gluten intolerant and don't even get tempura flakes on top of my rolls because if this.

Please understand, I really enjoy this place but you guys have to list your ingredients fully on Uber or Door dash and also, take of the flakes because it just doesn't taste good.

Our fav sushi spot - you can’t beat half price on weekends (on takeout too). If you haven’t tried the yummy yummy roll, do it! My mom asks to come here every time she visits.

I don't know what parking is like during the week, but on the weekends the metro commuter lot a half block away is convenient and free. I plenty to go back and try some more options on the menu. This places tries to do too many things, so some things are good while some things are bad. The red penang curry tastes horrible and doesnt remotely resemble proper curry - too sweet, uses a runny white sauce, uses thin pieces of chickeb with oversized incorrectly cut vegetables, and lacks spices. The brocoli with chicken tastes good. The Singaporean noodle is ok. The kung pao chicken is bad as they cover it with an overly sweet and runny sauce, uses oversized chunks of vegetables instead of cutting it bite sized and doesnt resemble the proper kung pao chicken you would find elsewhere. So things on the menu is hit or miss as the chef(s) making it either can make a good dish or has no clue what s/he is doing.

Great for takeout. At half price Saturday, you can "splurge" a little. Very refreshing to see restaurant retaining its 1/2price promotion and not raising the prices when everyone else does.

I saw this place had really good reviews and I haven’t found a good pad Thai since I moved here. I went to place an order online and saw the pad Thai was spicy, so I called and they said I could say “not spicy” in the comments. I get home, the crab Rangoon is barely fried and the sauce is just store bought sweet chili sauce. I had higher hopes for the pad Thai but I can’t even say what I’m eating is pad thai. It tastes like noodles with a weird mayo based sauce. Doesn’t even look like pad Thai. It came with a lemon slice and had green peppers in it. Will not be going back, honestly bummed I wasted $21 on this.

Sushi was very tasty- the green bamboo roll was almost like two rolls in one! Spring rolls just meh- would skip next time. General tso chicken was tasty but I paid extra for white meat and it was so thin you couldn’t tell and was stringy- wish it was thicker pieces of chicken.

Affordable pan-asian cuisine in Twinbrook, with variety of multiple styles. Love their sushi roll selection, and their yellowtail w/ scallions is a solid favorite. The last few times I've eaten here, I was a little underwhelmed by the quality of the thai dishes, like basil chicken. Seemed to have some generic sweet sauce from packets added.

I can't speak on the Chinese or Thai food, but I did have their Japanese sushi bento (I can't remember the exact name of the dish) which also came with assorted tempura and miso soup. It exceeded my expectations. You receive a good amount of food for your money, and it's all delicious. Definitely coming here again when I'm in Rockville. Their takeout system is also COVID-conscious, which is nice and makes me feel safe as a customer. There's no need to enter the restaurant to pick up your food because the foyer has been repurposed into a takeout pickup area. Dine in customers enter from a different door.

Absolutely Delicious! Eating at Green Bamboo was such a treat for everyone! We tried a variety of Chinese and Thai Dishes! Some of the dishes were traditional, and others were a bit Americanized, but we enjoyed them all! Our favorites were the Chicken Satay (Which was juicy and tender!), the Basil Chicken, the Tofu in Black Bean Sauce, and the Szechuan style Green Beans! Aside from the food though, our waitress was very prompt and professional! The atmosphere was also very fun, and everything was perfect! For anyone who enjoys imported beers, they have Kirin and others!

I ordered from GrubHub twice. Both times I ordered General Tso's chicken with no vegetables and no onions. The first time, they decided that broccoli didn't count, and my dish was packed with it. The second time, it was full of onions. They can't be trusted. Don't order from them. "Being rushed" is the excuse they use, and they won't replace your faulty order with a correct one.

I have only had togo from Green Bamboo, however their responsiveness to orders, customer service and variety of food are excellent. Depending on your tastebuds certain items on the menu may be a hit or miss but they have so many option that you can find a plethora of choices to your satisfaction. My favorite sushi place in the area. My husband and I lived in Rockville 2 years ago. We then moved to virginia and missed green bamboo dearly. The day we moved back to Maryland, we immediately went to Green Bamboo! The food was just as delicious and we remembered.

The ramen is sad, it's instant noodles with a precooked egg. The dumplings were hard (maybe reheated)? The fish quality in the sushi is good though as well as the drunken noodles. Nice service though.
