Local chain with a menu of classic Thai dishes & an underwater vibe. Most locations serve cocktails.
What I don’t like is that 18% service charge is automatically added to the bill (we were a party of 3). I did not ask to take it off the bill because 1) I usually pay 20%+ after the pandemic; 2) the food was good; 3) I will not go back to any restaurant automatically charges service fee so why bother arguing. The drunken noodle was the best I had for years. All others are pretty good except that the crispy rice salad is very salty and that the mango sticky rice portion size is small.
I've been coming to Tara Thai for years. So when they switched over to Siam Thai Cuisine I was open to trying the food since I like Thai food. Since I'm vegan, I usually get the Spicy basil fried rice (no oyster sauce) but today I felt adventurous and ordered something new. I had the red curry with veggies and it was so good! Spiciness on point. Flavor on point. Veggies on point. Very good meal and vegan friendly.
This is one of best Thai food I ever eaten. I ordered fried rice with chicken, pad cashew, and ginger perfect. All were tasty especially fried rice. The waiters were friendly and the place is clean and quite. I recommend this restaurant if you want to try tasty Thai dishes.
I ordered pineapple fried rice from this restaurant on Uber eats. There is a roach in my rice!! I initially thought it was a raisin but it is not. It has legs and wings and a body. I am horrified. DO NOT EAT HERE!!!
I also want to add that I reported this to the health department and they did not investigate. I also complained to the restaurant and the delivery app and they did not seem concerned. There’s still roaches in there and in the food.
This Tara Thai is the absolute worse. My husband and I visited last night for an anniversary dinner. It was the worse mistake ever. We ordered a large fish to share. It was tasteless, overcooked and extremely greasy. The horrible woman who brought us the food refused to take money off. She brought out one bowl of dry rice for a large nasty fish for two to share. The manager never apologized to us nor did her sorry behind come to our table to apologize. PLEASE spend your money elsewhere. They used to be decent, they are straight garbage disguising as food. JUST HORRIBLE
UPDATE: here's a pic of the drunken noodles on a plate showing the chicken and shrimp.
This is my go-to place for Thai, even though it's in Hyattsville and I'm in DC. Parking is a bear early evening and gets worse the later it gets on the weekend. I do believe this place is pick-up only even though you see seating inside.
That being said, the Pad Thai is excellent and sweet. Their drunken noodles has a different name on the menu and has both chicken and shrimp in it. I highly recommend this dish if you like both, and there are so many green chilies in it I needed two glasses of water. The fried vegetable rolls are good, too.
I wish my picture could do the drunken noodles justice. You have to eat it to believe it.
Called three times in a tuesday night to place a takeout order - no answer.
Tacos it is!
I’ve tried calling this place multiple times before 8 PM and even though they close at 9: 30 p.m. nobody ever answers

GOOGLE — PLEASE UPDATE LISTING! This is NO LONGER TARA THAI! The restaurant is using the Tara Thai name and reputation. Food was oily. Service slow. We were the only ones in the restaurant! THEY ADDED AN 18% “SERVICE CHARGE” onto the BILL (and don’t tell you!) Most people probably don’t even pay attention. Then expect you to tip on top of that! Beware!
I've been coming to Tara Thai for years. So when they switched over to Siam Thai Cuisine I was open to trying the food since I like Thai food. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Do not waste your time nor your money coming here. This restaurant is operating under false advertisement, as it is NOT Tara Thai. I was allowed to place a phone order under the pretense that this restaurant is Tara Thai. I have ordered the same meal at other Tara Thai locations. The food was NOT the same. It lacked spice and flavor. Also, how can one mess up spring rolls? This restaurant managed to do so. The spring rolls weren’t crispy, yet dry and didn’t taste good at all.
Had I been told the truth once I called to place my order, I definitely wouldn’t have ordered anything from here. Much less drive almost an hour to this restaurant. I’m extremely disappointed.
I will not be returning to Tara Thai it convient because it down the street from my house. Everytime i go in their it barely any people sitting down. My food was that enjoyable it was barely hot. I ask for the bill and box I notice I had more cash in the car so i ask the host can i run to my car. Once i got to my car and walk back to the restaurant i seen she was out hurrying back to the restaurants she follow me to my car. I ask for the manager she took her glasses off and told me she was the manager. She took the service charge off my bill and proceed to still charge me once again I ask for the manager. Please void this place by any means restaurant harassment
Very very good food, nice ambience, friendly staff.
Love the service but the food to me needs improvement
Food wasn’t too good. Oil left a funny feeling in my mouth. Noodles were soggy. I wouldn’t eat here again, or if I did it’d be something like a fried rice.
The food was great i recommend the drunken noodles and their green curry. The workers there are very nice but they need more staff tho.
The people here are nice and accommodating but I’m just not interested in getting food here again. I love pad thai, but I’ve gotten the last pad Thai order from here. It’s fishy, vinegary, has shellfish skins, and without much of a peanut taste. It’s also inconsistent in taste every time too. Sometimes salty, sometimes overly syrupy. It’s just not good and it doesn’t really taste very fresh either. The only saving grace is the chicken.
Always, a win. Don't leave unless you try the curry puffs!
Great food great price! The server alone and overwhelmed, but still delivered excellent service!
I ordered pineapple fried rice from this restaurant on Uber eats. There is a roach in my rice!! I initially thought it was a raisin but it is not. It has legs and wings and a body. I am horrified. DO NOT EAT HERE!!!

This place is now called Siam Thai Cuisine. Despite the few recent negative reviews, we found the food to be delicious. They have a good selection of authentic Thai dishes. The waitress was very attentive. However, serving sizes were small. In particular, the Kao Soi Gai, which was plated beautifully and tasted great, did not have very many noodles in it. I recommend trying this place, but you may need to order an appetizer or extra noodles or rice to avoid leaving hungry.
Best Thai takeout in the area!
Staff was pleasant and attentive.
The food lacked depth of flavor unfortunately. The vegetable soup was indeed a well made stock, however it lacked any seasoning or character. Certainly not enough salt. Lots of vegetable taste, but very flat on flavor. Vegetables were undercooked, obviously just tossed into the warm broth before being served.
Appetizer was horrendously overpriced as was the rest of the meal for what it was.
Perhaps my Filipina girlfriend said it best. If I gave her 12-15 dollars, she could do better shopping at the retail grocery store and preparing a meal at home. Compared to what we were served for $60 including tip.
I suspect the place is in long term financial trouble with menu pricing and below standard quality such as this.
This place was bought over by Siam Thai and the new owners insist they are in business with Tara Thai but the food says otherwise. NOTHING TASTES THE SAME. The spicy basil fried rice I would drive an hour for is now full of bell peppers and went from 8 shrimp to 5 shrimp.
Resigning this place as one of my favorites. Another one bites the dust…
This place has the Tara Thai placard but this is not Tara Thai! I had someone go and pick up food and there was immediate confusion over the online menu and in store menu. Ordered spring rolls, beef salad, and the shrimp dumpling soup per in store menu. The spring rolls are small and tasteless for $7. The beef salad was disgusting and tasted old or something just wasn't right. The shrimp dumpling soup had no shrimp in the middle but instead a gluey meatball like paste that was horrific with a very bland stock base.
Tara Thai needs to do something about this immediately because people are reviewing based off of their name! It was brought to my attention that they are called "Siam Thai Cuisine"!?
tasty food, staff friendly and courteous
02/04/2024- This is a great restaurant for dining in or take out! I ordered the “green curry “ dinner! Yum! It was hit and spicy 🌶️! The restaurant was clean. The staff of (3) were kind and professional. The music in the atmosphere was soothing. The Art on the walls and decor was nice. There were no other patrons on the restaurant besides the two of us. My friend ordered a spicy 🌶️ shrimp dinner! Yum! I gather that most patrons use grub hub! They close for one hour between 2pm and 3pm. Conveniently located, free parking is just around the corner or on the street. This food establishment sits across from “BusBoys and Poets and near “ Elevation Burger” in the city of Hyattsville/College Park. By the way there are some cute art and clothing shops in the same corridor along with additional vegan spots and a PHO spot! Love it!
Fantastic, we will be back!
Amazing food and exceptional service.
I rate Thai restaurants on the most basic and traditional dish they have. "Tom Kha soup". If you are legit Thai you can not get this wrong. Tara Thai Tom Kha Soup is savory and refreshing, a word not often used to describe soup. The server was busy and friendly at the same time. I love this place.
I had the pot stickers and Tom Kha soup in the restaurant and another serving to go.
Best Panang Curry on this side of the Atlantic! Highly recommend.
Everytime I order on ubereats and leave and note they totally disregard it EVERY SINGLE TIME!
It is hard to give you my business when the staff never answers the phone !
The food was bland. The chicken was overcooked and tough.
We love the food options! Always a great option for dinner!
This is one of best Thai food I ever eaten. I ordered fried rice with chicken, pad cashew, and ginger perfect. All were tasty especially fried rice. The waiters were friendly and the place is clean and quite. I recommend this restaurant if you want to try tasty Thai dishes.
Pad Thai 10/10
The pineapple fried rice with crab on top is a must try.
Honestly, really good.
I loved it!! I ordered online and picked it up. About 20 minutes later. I ordered fried rice with pork and spring rolls. The total price was about $22 with tax. I’ve paid way more than that for really bad Chinese food in the area. The food was fresh hot and really really good. I will absolutely be going back.
UPDATE: here's a pic of the drunken noodles on a plate showing the chicken and shrimp.

Good, prompt service.
We stopped in for dinner and the food was really good. The service was great as well. The spice level was just right and the basil fried rice was worth coming back for. We will definitely be back!
I got the Kapow with shrimp, I ordered as a pick up. I wanted extra shrimp so it was over $30 (a bit more with tip). I really wanted extra. They only put like 10 pieces of jumbo shrimp in the entree. I know seafood can be pricey but I paid extra and tipped…C’mon 😩😖
The good is pretty good here though and Thai tea is always amazing! If you never tried it please get it.
They won't seat us because the chef has to sleep. We got here at 2.30pm and the website says they are open till 3pm
Food was okay. My husband’s meal (curry) was very very sweet . Too sweet for a diabetic. They were nice enough to take the food back and replace it with something else.
Decor/ambiance is not the greatest but the portions were large enough for two.
Ginger perfect chicken for the winnnnn!!!
Take out orders are always ready early or on time! The pad thai is a favorite with very generous portions. The spicy levels are wonderful, and the food is very tasteful. Make sure to grab a thai iced coffee for a nice boost!
Amazing food, limited space for dine-in.
Food is always delicious!
Delicious food. Friendly staff. Quick service.
Great place!
It’s fine but I wouldn’t go out of my way to get food from here. Aroy Thai in CP is just five minutes away and the food is notably better!
I took one bite of the pad Thai and was not impressed. It was bland, taste too eggy, oily, and had no spice or kick. I’ll do the extra 20 minute drive and head to Kin Da in Takoma Park
Very underrated restaurant, food is always fantastic, I recommend Pad Thai, Kanom Jeeb, Kapow & Pad Pik So.
Great flavor, great portions and great customer service.
I've been visiting occaisionally over 8-9 yrs and always had a good experience. There are a few others in Tysons and by Wheaton and they seemed pretty consistant over the years. If you're unsure, give it a try- pad thai/tom yom(ga) and their coconut based soup are good options to see if a thai restaurant suites you.
EDIT Dec2021:
I had an issue with my card and the manager was so kind and helpful with resolving the issue with a delivery app. Not only is their food great but their staff goes above and beyond to help with any issues/concerns!!
Tara Thai is consistently excellent. Both the tofu pad Thai and the green curry with chicken are delicious, and they are always quick!
Worst food . Cold food . They always messed up an Uber order.
It's pretty unusual for me to give 3 star as a summary but here dishes were so different that initially I thought it was two different cooks. Ordering via DoorDash could also play a role
Typhoon soop - perfect, nice spices, good amount of mashrooms and hearty portion - 5*
Kapow Pork - well done, excellent rice, good portion - 4*
If that was my full order - clear 5* overall. But unfortunately it was not:
Green Curry chicken - really bad, undercooked, almost zero spice - 1* Max
Tom Yum Gai - meat was also undercooked, little spicy, almost no mushrooms - 2*
So the result is only 3* overall.
My fave pad thai! YUM! Great customer service. I visit frequently!~
Was able to curb my craving with a last-minute order.
Not as good as I thought it would be. Dry
They Do A Very Good Job At Making Tasty Thai Foods
Great Thai food.
Fresh ingredients.
Nice people.
What more do you need?
Their customer service is so bad these days. I called to order food for 50 people and it never turn out nice. Their way of talking to customers and doing catering job need to be more better. Simply worse customer service ever.
I have never experienced such rudeness in my life from a restaurant. They have horrible customer service and dont see myself dining here again. Stay away and support nice business that care about there customers.
The wings are great. Had fried rice, requested basil to be added and was charged an extra dollar for that, I thought that was uncalled for but as long as the food tasted good
Great place! Parking is limited but grateful it had a free parking lot. My son loved the portion size of his pad thai which was large compared to other places. The food is good and worth a visit if in the area.
Top Thai Spot for Me!
Pad Thai Jae my favorite real talk.
Crab fried rice
One of my favorite places in the area. Tasty, fresh, and good portions. I'm a little sad that the chocolate cake isn't in the menu anymore. But even sadder because I'm moving next week to the west of the country so I'll miss ordering my delivery. Love your food guys! Thank you so much for all the tasty meals!! 🙏🏻🙂❤️
Awesome it was the best Chicken pad thai i ever try
Nice balance of flavor
Excellent food
Amazing Thai food, truly some of the best we’ve had in the area. The Pad See Eaw, Chicken Satay, spring rolls, and Thai iced tea are out of this world!! Highly recommend.
I’m a regular here. I usually get panang curry, Bangkok wings, and chicken satay. One time I tried the pineapple fried rice with seafood and I regretted it. The seafood in the rice was not seasoned at all. I was very surprised because everything else from there is amazing. Could be that it was a one time slip up, but I’m not going to order that again to find out. The service is timely. The location is clean. Everything else is great.
Panang curry is delicious
This is my go-to spot. I love the Pan Thai Noodle. unless you wanted super hot just get it the regular way they do it. I normally get two meals out of this serving.
Delish! I ordered some Bangkok wings a while back. while the wings were delicious the sauce was the funkiest thing I have ever smelled. So request that they don't send you that. Maybe someone was trying something new but it was just awful.
Since the sauce was not the actual meal LOL I'm not going to reduce their rating. But whoever is making that please stop if you're buying it stop purchasing it it's awful.
Well, this place is out of business so I can't really give it any veritable review. (I've submitted a correction)
But as long as it still appears to be open, it makes sense to discourage people from wasting their time going here...
Good food. Will return for more business
The food is always great here and the customer services is always outstanding. I don't understand why some of you are complaining that the portions are too small, in properly run restaurant is by serving and portions are even smaller. The prices are reasonable, rent is not cheap and cost of living is rising everyday. Try buying the ingredients and you will see how it cost more to make at home.
I am sure if you have a problem with the food they will remake it.
Very ill mannered towards minorities and people of color
The food is great here, but they get the order wrong a lot (particularly including egg when I specify no egg).
I sadly didn’t enjoy this place. The food is not authentic and the portions are small for the price. The shrimp wasn’t seasoned at all and tasted and smelled like raw seafood and this is coming from someone who loves seafood and shrimp especially:(
Ordered fried tofu kapow entre. Said it was spicy but it was very mild spice. Quality tofu. Good.
Got 6 shrimps and noodle for $16.42. It was completely dry and too much soy sauce or whatever black sauce is placed. Never again.
Do yourself a favor and get the Pad See Ew. The egg noodles are superb.
Terrible! Gave me old food. I ordered the drunken noodles, what a waste of my money. Terrible service. The tomatoes in the food had been cooked so much that they were dissolved. The noodles were so mushy and disgusting. I will never come here again. Buyer beware!!!!
The wonton soup tasted watery. The typhoon soup was fine. For the appetizers the Satay was delicious but we order the Golden ring and it doesn't taste like anything, the squid didn't taste like fresh almost as it was expired
Food was quite good. They will take spiciness very serious make sure to tell them correctly
They have really Nice food. Super ambiance; it's really amazing place to go get food and have a good Thai experience. Cheers. Has Vegan options
My girlfriend's favorite place to eat. Five stars. The Pad cashew chicken is great!

Great food and interior design. I ordered the Pad Thai with tofu and it was delisous! My dad enjoyed the Drunken noodles. Severings were large each plate was enough food for two meals. I've only lived in the area for six months, but so far this is my favorite Thai restaurant!
Great drinks , food tasty & great waiter.
We were doing ok until a roach fell on my nose from the vent. They gave us the option of a round of drinks or discount on good.
Food tastes good but tons of msg in the pad Thai or panang Curry, or both. Asked if they had any msg, didn't even know the answer, but it's obvious.
Not bad. Yummy satay 😋
Great food, but service could be better
Like it.
Clean dining room. Polite and accommodating wait staff. Fast service and great tasting food. Reasonable prices. Great spot for date night.
Kids run ing place waiter was busy flirting with customers at bar. Food was cold will never go back
Went here on a whim and was pleased with the dishes. Outdoor seating and take-out available. Server was a nice guy. Curry was actually spicy. Will definitely be ordering take-out from here soon.
Fast and clean. Friendly workers and not too crowded. Great food!
The only reason this has a rating over one stars because there’s nothing else in this town
Excellent drunken noodles
Best staff..and pad thai:)
I’m very picky about my Thai food and where I get it from given I’m not a big Thai food fan, this trip was my first trip where I actually took time and sat in this restaurant and enjoyed the Ambience as dish, the food was excellent and had flavor in every bite. I was disappointed in the lack of spice in the food given drunken noodles are supposed to be spicy it wasn’t even mild. The service for the lunch rush was ok a little under what I expected. I will still go back and try at another time hoping the service will improve.
I have been in town working on a project for a month and order from Tara Thai 3 times a week on DoorDash. 3 times a week will tell you how much I love their food. Everything I order is cooked to perfection. When I order extra spicy, it is just right. Consistency is the key here and that's what they do best...
Just visiting for the weekend and chose this place because very few deliver ...Loved, loved, loved it. A great find!
Food tasted good. Tofu tasted a bit odd, I didn't eat it and only ate the Veggies.
Hit or miss; I usually get the shrimp fried rice. Depending on the day or cook it’s either perfect or mushy. Lately, I’ve requested that my rice is not over cooked and I’ve had success. Now, the Thai iced tea is always perfect; they get it right every time.
The menu serving size is very misleading. This food portions were hardly fulfilling, the food was average, and the customer service was terrible.
Had lunch with Justin. Food was healthy n appetizing
Ordered my food and waited so long to receive my order that Eddie my waiter was annoyed. When speaking to the mgr. I was simply ignored and dismissed. When my food came out, it was subpar at most. I was brought a bill for 54.00 I asked that my bill be adjusted because I placed multiple orders in addition one even to go. Not to mention that I had ordered my food with extras which where charged but weren't served with my meal, but I did make notice of this until I itemized my bill. Again when I asked for the mgr. to make changes he refused. Needless it was only 54.00 dollars, but the principal of the matter is what upset me. Bad service, horrible drinks, subpar food. Save your time and money go to Sala Thai better food, more choices, and at least as a customer you matter. Be heard, stop spending your hard earned money where you're not appreciated.
Love love love this restaurant. My favorite is the drunken noodles and prawn rolls. The service is great and they are very prompt with your food. I would go more often but the parking is not the best...
Terrible service. They would take your order wrongly and tell you that you cant eat in the restaurant because your food was set as a take away and it was your first time there. Even when you try to explain it was your first time the manager wont listen. I will never go back there.
Ordered food online. Got there, order wasn't ready. Turns out they didn't even make it. Was a Monday night, not busy at all. Had to wait 15-20 mins for them to make. Person gave it didn't even say sorry or thanks. Never coming back here.
The food is alright, but the service is terrible. Went here last night on a date and wanted to start with some appetizers. We ordered our appetizers and drinks with our server. Then a few minutes later a different server came to ask about our entrees, so we ordered entrees. A few minutes later our entrees came out, brought to us by a third server.
I asked about our appetizers. He goes to check and comes back with one appetizer at a time. Then once our table was completely covered in all the dishes (which we had wanted to eat one by one), we get our drinks. No apologies and they charged us for everything.
There was no hostess so maybe that’s why the wait staff were confused about whose section we were in. I’m guessing that the two servers put in two separate tickets to the kitchen, but why didn’t the kitchen know that this table should get our appetizers before our entrees? And how does coconut juice take the longest of all to get to our table?
These guys have failed at Restaurant Management 101.
Waited 45 min for carry out of 2 dishes. Was told 15 min. No updates while I sat there. When mgmt was informed, “ I’m sorry “ was the only response given. Would not recommend.
SAND IN MY FOOD! They usually have good food but tonight was so bad that I’ll never come back here. Nothing tasted fresh, food wasn’t hot, the meat and duck was overcooked, dry and hard to chew, the seafood breading tasted like it had been in a freezer for a long time before being microwaved and there was sand!!!! SAND!!!! In my scallops!!! Do you know how irritating and painful it is to chew sand? My Goodness!!!
We used door dash to get it delivered, the food was garbage and was thrown away. What a waste of $$. I wouldn’t not suggest this anyone order from this place.
Great food but terrible and slow service. Prepare to wait.
Horrible service. Won't be back.
Walk in and they won't even greet you. The aloof "host" stands there playing a game on his phone and has no interest in doing his job. Any attempt to get his attention is met with a dismissive mumble.
The food is great but if Kami, the driver is not there, it will be best to pick up your order!
Food great. Portions a bit small for the price.
Each time I come here the food is PHENOMENAL, but everything in service is terrible. Maybe that's why I see so many take-out orders?
You know that feeling that looms over the restaurant when everyone is getting bad service? That's what Tara Thai constantly has. And it's a real shame because the food is so, so good.
The waiters are, every time I've been:
• inattentive; don't expect any service after you order.
• Inaccurate; I've always had the same guy, and he doesn't write things down and has consistently forgetten an item or more every time.
• Non-caring; Pretending to not see your hands waving, even if you make eye contact, and wearing earbuds blasting music you can hear three feat away.
Great food, poor service.
Ordered for delivery through a third party service. Food was overall very underwhelming. Tod mun was fine. Pad thai tasted fine but the peanuts were chopped so fine they were nearly a rough peanut paste and the tom kha tasted sour, not creamy or fragrant. No zing of lime. Pad thai was made with chicken and pork when no chicken was ordered.
Food is pretty good
The food was good, portion was a little smaller then what I'm accustomed to for the dish that was purchased.
I had pataya noodle which was good with lots of seafood. Kinda like drunken noodle
Ordered fried rice and never received the extra meat I paid for. Usually satisfied with Tara Thai, but instances like this one will make me think twice before returning.
They typically have good food, but last night their spicy eggplant tasted like a rush job and I informed the waiter, who informed the manager, who could care less about my opinion. There are way too many restaurants in Maryland and DC for me to even bother returning. I would care enough as a manager to even try and offer another food option.
Usually pretty good, yesterday must have been an off day... Drunk'n Noodles were missing a couple of ingredients...
I walked in to pick up an Ubereats order, as an Uber driver. I gave the name, they said it's not ready yet. I wait 15 minutes, ask again (with customer name and order ID#), they tell me that it was already picked up by a driver. I explained that I was the driver, that my picture pops up with the order, called the customer, they had waited over an hour and still not even received a notification saying it had been picked up. Restaurant refused to remake the food until I got the customer on the line. Employee told me 15 mins, I told them I'd wait in my car and come back. When I come back (20+ mins later) they said "we thought you left, so I stopped making your food". What?!?!.... I speak to the manager, she assures me it will be ready in 15. During this saga I spoke with 4 employees AND the manager, not a single apology at any point in time. Didn't comp the customer (1 hour 45 minute wait time before it was even made) or throw anything extra into their order either. Customer complained that the order wasn't even correct but took it and walked back into his house because he didn't want to deal with them any more.
Good luck.
Love the food and drinks
I'm a huge Thai food fan and this place nails it. Been here twice and I've been blown away by the food.
Great food, great service.
