The origins of Thai cuisine can be traced to the ancient ‘Silk Road’. Thailand was a frequent stop between India and China, and the curries and stir-fried foods in Thai cooking are reminders of this past. But Thai cuisine’s true uniqueness results from combining these influences with indigenous aromatic herbs and pungent spices such as lemongrass, holy basil, and Thai chilies.
We endeavor to bring you the true cuisine of Thailand. As in Thailand, our menu items are served a-la-carte to be shared by everyone at the table. Each item is prepared individually using fresh ingredients and our own homemade sauces.
I recently visited Sukho Thai Restaurant and had an amazing experience! The vegan food was fantastic flavourful and beautifully presented. I highly recommend trying the Coconut Milk Thai Iced Tea; It was refreshing and perfectly balanced. Our server, Jennifer was so friendly, and made us feel truly welcomed. Her excellent service added to the wonderful dining experience. I’ll definitely be coming back!
I had a great experience dining here! The staff was incredibly attentive, making sure everything was perfect throughout the meal. The food was delicious, and I loved that they let you choose your preferred level of spiciness. The menu is impressively diverse, with options for every taste. Highly recommend!
I have always loved my dining experiences at Sukhothai, but my recent visit to their new location left me extremely disappointed. While the atmosphere was nice, the overall quality of the food and service has significantly declined.
Firstly, let's talk about the dumplings. They were the driest dumplings I've ever had in my entire life. It felt like they had been microwaved or left under lights for too long. I could barely chew them, and they completely lacked any flavor.
To make matters worse, I thought I ordered the 3 flavor fish with shrimp and scallops, but I only received the fish. When I brought this to the attention of the waitress, she nonchalantly informed me that there are two versions of the 3 flavor fish on the menu, and the kitchen send me the one without shrimp and scallops. How was I supposed to know that? As a minimum expectation, the staff should have clarified which version I wanted before taking my order.
Based on this disappointing experience, I highly doubt that I will ever be returning to Sukhothai's new location. The decline in food quality, coupled with the poor service, has left me with a sour taste in my mouth. I expected much better from a restaurant that I have previously enjoyed.

Don't get pad thai or green curry
This was first time trying Thai food. Food was more than good. The atmosphere and service was also up to the mark. Worth of every penny.
We super loved it, it was just soooo damn perfect, the spice level, the taste, roti or naan were undercooked but the service, ambience everything was top notch, its a gem. Must visit place
Very nice space and the waitress was wonderfully friendly and helpful.
The food was delicious with a variety of spiciness and even the hottest didn't stick around after dinner.

so slow
Ordered take out a dirty noodle thru toast
Ask for NO Chinese broccoli and didn’t sub to regular broccoli
Still got broccoli in my food
Called manager and he said it’s come with both broccoli when the menu said Chinese broccoli OR broccoli
Manager can’t help northing!
Disappoint!
Great service! Delicious food! I had a a drink I loved and emailed them to ask if they would provide me with the ingredients and proper measurements and they were kind enough to respond with the instructions to make it. I’m looking forward to replicating the drink at home. I will always keep going back for the amazing cuisine!
Great restaurant with great food options and drinks.
I like Sukho Thai. The pad thai is good. The drunken noodles are good. The Seafood Tom Yum is also very good. I also like the Roti with red curry dipping sauce. The green curry scallops are also good.
Great food.
When I was living on Canal Street this summer, SukhoThai became a staple for me. I am very picky about Thai food, but their Pad Thai did it for. The prices were reasonable and the service was great!
Tried Pad Kee Mao! It was great.
Absolute best Thai in the city. The spicy garlic beef is my favorite
So the interior of the place is very nice and the windows are nice and big to look through. The service is terrible. Lots of side eye, a lack of communication, and everything came very slowly. The food was also not good and lacked the depth of flavor that authentic Thai restaurants usually have.
I was surprised. I didn't expect a good Thai place in NoLA. I had a sukho drunken noodle. Never had this and now, I'm addicted. Loves it.
HOOORRRRIBBBLLLEEE experience. Came an hour before close. Place was pretty busy, lots of tables filled. Not a waiter in sight for a solid 10 minutes. From previous experience theres a bulkier dark-haired woman who seems to be in some type of management role, but she clearly was no GM because no GM would wander past a table that was sat there for 20 minutes while other much larger parties continued to be sat and SERVED before us. Seemed intentional and that really makes me concerned for the integrity of this place. Pathetic.
If you're visiting please do not come here, it is not what it once was. Maybe they spent too much on rent and renovations...? Food for thought.
This is the best Thai food in the area. Lots of variety on the menu including many vegan options. Many Pad and Curry options, my favorite Pad being the Drunken Noodles. If you love seafood, the best item on the menu is the Sukiyaki. The new location is better looking, has more space, and has more accessible parking.
One of my favorite spots from when I lived in the city. Just had take out from here and good laaaawd, it was magnificent! The drunken noodles 🍜 with crispy pork belly is a 10 out of 10. Just superb in every way. Need to remember this place when I am jonesing for Thai food during lunch time at work. Bravo 👏
It is VERY LOUD in this restaurant. Seating and service are slow, on both occasions eating here I waited 20 minutes for water. This building is like an echo chamber. Zero noise insulation and everyone's conversations become a cacophony. People then have to talk louder over their own noise.
This is a new location (moved further down magazine street within the last year) and there are still kinks to be worked out with management and service.
Best Thai food I've ever eaten!! Would definitely recommend both SulhoThai locations!
The restaurant is beautiful but the staff we interacted with were very young and inexperienced. The sake menu is extensive and they were clueless to provide insight. The food was decent but we likely won’t return.
Taste like New Orleans flavors
My go to Thai place in Nola for delivery. Food is decent. If you go to the restaurant to eat in person, the atmosphere is great and the staff has always been quite nice.
The food was gone so fast there’s no time to take pictures so I took pictures of the roses growing nearby and my daughter on her phone waiting for her food and also there’s a pub across the road that had so many colors I had to shoot that I loved eating here and I’ll be back
I ordered the Tom soup, it was delicious. Also got an appetizer, potstickers.
I have always loved my dining experiences at Sukhothai, but my recent visit to their new location left me extremely disappointed. While the atmosphere was nice, the overall quality of the food and service has significantly declined.

I hate doing this, especially because I’ve had good experiences at this place. I just can’t explain how I walked in at 9pm, waited for 20 minutes and couldn’t get a menu or water. The servers were picking up chairs and cleaning. I really wouldn’t mind if they were closing, but say that, don’t make us wait around for no reason. Restaurant was empty too
The staff member that did greet us was very nice, but after getting off a flight all day we came to this location because it says they were open until 10pm. Unfortunately that’s not the case as we walked in at 9:50 and was told that the kitchen was closed and they stop taking seating at 9:45.
This is completely understandable just wish it was listed somewhere on the website or on hours. As we specifically came from the airport in a rush to eat here.
We went this weekend. I didn't realize they closed mid day, but we decided to sit outside and wait the hour anyway since we had the kids with us. The bartender was busy settting up but he was nice enough to see us and come outside to see if we'd like a drink even though they were not open. The drinks were very good and he was so nice to do that. Will definitely be back.
Food was barely warm and potatoes were undercooked. Curry was just ok. Good atmosphere but the quality of the food will keep me from returning.
Wow what an improvement since moving into their new location. LOVED the whiskey ginger whole fish. Forgot the rice and a few other things but they made up for it. Love their soups and curries.
Thai tea, Tom Kha, panang curry - it’s like if you could eat a warm hug. Wonderful comfort food with incredible flavors. They moved to a new spot on Magazine and although the food is still excellent, the atmosphere has lost the intimate setting it once had. I’ll keep eating here but I will miss the laid-back, cozy, warm ambiance it used to have.
Beautiful space, soulless and sloppy cuisine.
I have never had such sad Pad Thai, and Mango Sticky rice was of such miserable quality I didn't even eat it after the first bite.
Maybe the regular kitchen staff is on holiday, but this was a sad meal. Too many places to go to, this won't be one of them again.
Tasty food. Repeat customer.
Our favorite Thai restaurant in New Orleans! Must try.
Disappointing Experience at Sukho Thai due to terrible service.
Our visit to Sukho Thai on Magazine Street left much to be desired. The waitress/bartender was fantastic, but the kitchen and manager repeatedly botched our order. It took over 20 minutes to reheat up our food as we were waiting for the rest of it, and appetizers arrived after our final entree. Despite decent food, the overall experience was marred by the restaurant's poor service. The manager, engrossed with other tables, neglected ours. We never had a chance to get the errors fixed. We tipped our waitress, but a regrettable evening at Sukho Thai has left us wishing for better.
You are really paying for the atmosphere here, don't expect incredible thai...
Best Thai restaurant I have ever been too. I went with a couple of friends and everyone loved it.
Our groups arrived on a cold Tuesday night, were waited around 45 mins for a table at around 7:30. Really crowded so we were excited for the food. Pad Thai was a typical dish found in your local Thai restaurant, no problem. But the Crying Tiger was really something else (photo attached), we highly recommend you to order it so you can have a feeling of wasting money like a rich CEO dude living in the silicon valley. Been to many Thai places for Crying Tiger, but this place made us cried when seeing the dish due to the quality of it🥲.
Good atmosphere but meh food. Unfriendly hostess. Plus it's ridiculous to upcharge $5 for veggie dishes to include tofu. Go to Budsi or Paloma for better flavor
Ordered via Uber eats. Very small portion sizes. The veggie spring roll ($9+) was 4 super small pieces probably cut from maybe 1 full piece! Ridiculous!
And ordering through Uber eats made this extremely expensive and not at all worth it.
They just moved to a new location & it is very nice. The food is delicious. I love the Pad Kee Mao...it's packed full of veggies, young green peppercorns & noodles.
They can get backed up with take out orders but their kitchen is really quick.
I just don't do 5 stars. It's not what I do. Everything would have to be perfect - everything for everyone in the party.
That said, the food was very good. The server was very attentive. There was a short time when it was hard to get his attention but he was very busy.
The new place is very nice.
Was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere since the website doesn't work so well, but it's beautifully decorated in a modern way, customer service went above and beyond, and the food my date and i ordered was so beyond delicious that we couldn't stop ordering things!!!! We ordered an appetizer, two curries, fried rice, something i thought would be a special order but they actually had on the menu, and one more entree i cannot recall at the moment as well as two deserts, and nothing let us down, we think maybe this was the best part of our christmas trip to new orleans!!!!!!!!
We had the satay chicken skewers, drunken noodles, and green curry beef. Everything was excellent!
Delicious food, great ambience, and great service!!.... I was super satisfied with the experience of dinning at this place!, I'll definitely go back again! The fried rice and the curry were excellent!
We went there when they were about to close. They kindly took our order. We had great food. The dining experience was excellent. We had a kind and knowledgeable, she was very nice and my bad that I didn't ask her name. Definitely going back.
For a company that has other locations, this was, perhaps, the most dysfunctional.
My soft shell crab was divine. The balance of the food and beverage array not so much. Lots of tweaking in order.
The food here is good although it often didn't seem as good as the original Marigny location BUT they do have booze here so that makes it more convenient in some ways than the old original location which has moved to a new location and since also added booze. For the price I think I much prefer the food at Secret Thai or Lime Leaf but this place in some ways is probably a bit more "authentic" if you want to be a purist. The atmosphere at the original Uptown location kept getting better and better and the interior had lots of space I always found it a bit too "modern" for my taste. Since they have recently moved to a new location even closer to where I live it is certainly very convenient to visit but so far the new space seems smaller, the service is less attentive and the food isn't yet quite as good as it was at the prior location. I expect they will certainly have some re-start issues with getting back to being fully staffed and going at full steam again but I expect they will get their eventually. So far I've tried their brand new spot three times and it does seem to get a bit better each time but it is still not quite back to where it was yet. Overall this is a good addition to the area and if you want a bit of a change it can be a nice spot for a quick Thai experience.
My video review of Uptown Sukho Thai is here:
https://youtu.be/57xh5O6rQP4
First I must start off by stating my wife is Thai; with that being said this is far from authentic Thai food. The flavors were just not there. “Thai hot” was hot, but it was not “Thai hot flavorful” as it should be. I tried this place because I love trying new Thai restaurants with my wife, but I honestly can’t recommend this restaurant. Great atmosphere and location though.
Went here for brunch. Love the atmosphere. The service was very friend. Food was DELICIOUS AND AMAZING. Will definitely be going again. One issue is of course parking. Parking on Magazine St is a hit or miss.
The food here is delicious. Best Pad Thai I've had so far in New Orleans. Pad Kee Mao is also great.
A good vegan menu is available
Love this place! Food is always amazing
Incredible. The food was immaculate. Husband and I had the pad kee mao noodles and drunken fried rice, dumplings, Indian puff bread and lychee martini. Everything was beautifully fresh and flavorful. Our server, Jake, is a great human. Talked my husband out of Thai Hot level spice and most likely saved his life. 10/10, will name our next kid after him. (Only complaint was the AC seemed to be broken but we’ll live).
Visited this lovely little spot on my trip to the area. We visit often and love stopping into Sukho when we are in town! The food is amazing, and the staff/service is even more incredible.
However, our latest visit was very uncomfortable. It’s HOT. It’s not pleasant trying to enjoy a meal in a swamp 🥵
The staff was very apologetic, but I could see they were sweating too. I can’t imagine how it feels in the kitchen. Please fix or replace the A/C system! Not only was it miserable for us as customers but I worry about the safety of staff.
Hope to be back soon! Maybe with a fan.
Server Matthew was amazing! The food was perfect as well. I would recommend shop Tom Yum!
If you like Thai food, this is the place for you. I must say their spicy levels are HOT so becareful. I 3 felt like a 5. It best you just get you sauce on the side.
New waitress. Poor recommendations on good and Nlnever checked on us. Food was super spicy, which is my fault because I got 4/5 spice level, but I had no water the entire time. Never asked us if we wanted dessert or anything else to add to meal. Bill was incorrect, and we were charged for an extra entree. I'm sure it had a lot to do with her being new but still not a great experience.
The only restaurant my family NEVER MISSES whenever we visit New Orleans! Schezuan shrimp and scallops is my absolute favorite, but there are so many excellent dishes on this menu. Venue is good for large groups as well.
Great Thai. The green curry is finger licking good.
Michelle is the BEST
Today for lunch,I ordered the red curry with shrimp and jasmine rice which I really had anticipated on eating this afternoon... When my order was presented at the table, I just knew I would enjoy my lunch, but not even half way into eating the red curry with shrimp and jasmine rice,I was highly disappointed with a physical piece of an one & half inch long of short black thin human or animal hair in my red curry with shrimp..I could not finish eating after that point... The issue with the hair being present in their red curry with shrimp was made aware to the waitress, and then to the passive/aggressive front house manager in which I had requested to both the waitress and manager that I wanted to bring this matter to the
attention to the kitchen manager or the chef on duty...The front house manager defensively stood and argued unintelligently that no one in the kitchen has hair ... There was not a recourse of corrective action to satisfy me as a paying customer... I paid for my order, and they tried to give me something that I didn't order...The staff is not friendly...Front house/bar manager is extremely rude, very uninviting, & unknowledgeable on giving good proper food service, especially when a customer has an issue or an discrepancy with the food that is being served... I will tell you If you're the kind of person that likes hair in your food, this is the place that doesn't have a problem with serving hair into your food order... In any restaurant business an entire restaurant staff should know when to accommodate, remove the unwanted particular, specified items that was served to a customer from their table in which & whenever a customer has an issue or discrepancy with those said items .. Just don't ignore the issue or problem for the customer to have more of dissatisfied experience...
A premier Thai food spot in New Orleans possibly the best. Excellent atmosphere with delicious food
Love the massaman and curry noodle
Food was delicious. It was my fiancé and myself’s first time trying Thai food and we enjoyed. Great flavor, nice looking place, friendly staff.
I've been to this place several times and while the service is pretty good, the food is wildly variable. I usually order a 4/5 on the spice scale and some days it's the heat level I want, but other days it will be very bland. On our most recent visit everyone in our party had to ask for extra spice. Everything else about the experience was fine, just minus 1 star for the inconsistency. Happy hour deals are good, and it goes all night on Fridays.
Food was delicious but the service sucked. They were too busy with a private party in the back, the manager came by and tried to smooth things over and said we'd get a comped round of drinks but we were charged for that too lol. Anyway that was lame but the food was awesome and it's worth going if they aren't too busy I think.
My boyfriend and I visited this restaurant in October. My boyfriend is allergic to shell fish and when we asked the waitress if they could cook his meat in a separate pan from the shellfish, she told us she could not guarantee this. She continued to be rude about his allergy! All we were asking is for his food to be cooked on another side of the stovetop or in a different pan to ensure he doesn’t get an allergic reaction. We will never be going back here due to the rudeness over an allergy! Horrible service.
Great food. Awesome service. Thanks Michelle!
The Panang duck is a must try. Great spot !
Had a fantastic Thai chicken salad.
Doesn't get 5 stars because meat portions are very small
Food good, Sapporo on draft -nice.
3 stars bc I have had good experiences before but this was a 1 star meal. Really disappointed by the takeout pad see ew with chicken. The chicken and vegetables were inedible. The chicken was incredibly dry to the point it was difficult to swallow and the vegetables were overcooked, ultimately I ended up eating around the chicken and veggies leaving me only with noodles and bits of egg. I have been a customer at Sukho Thai a handful of times and had good experiences but this was very disappointing.
FYI-this review is about the service and not the food. My husband and I went here for dinner. The place was not too busy when we came. We ordered 2 bowls of soup (1 with fish, the other veggies) grilled beef salad and chicken pad thai. My husband also ordered a draft beer. Waitress was polite, we had no issues with her. My husband requested more broth in his cup of soup with less veggies. Waitress came back to let us know that they would have to charge us extra for the broth. I looked at her puzzled and ask why you would charge extra for broth when we are asking you for less veggies in the cup so you can put more broth in the cup. Waitress went back to talk to the manager, answer was the same. There is an extra charge if you take out the veggies and add more broth to the cup!! Wow!! We told her to cancel that soup. She asked about my soup and I told her to cancel that as well. She came back with the manager to verify that we did want to cancel the soups. That was the last straw. We told her to cancel the whole order. At this point we were too afraid to eat there. We were not sure what they would do to our food! I am still flabbergasted as I write this. Wow!! Just wow!
Very good good. Great ambiance. Loved the Khao sai and Red curry
Lots of vegan options!
Really good, fresh flavors, prices not too expensive. The fried tofu appetizer was underwhelming and the vegetables in the main dish to me were undercooked (still about like raw vegetables in broth). Good but not great I would say all around. I would eat here again.
Oh m gosh. The staff is so friendly. And getting to choose your own spice level is crucial. I felt our green seafood curry could have contained more seafood for the price, but it was still good. The Broken Net soup was actually phenomenal in flavor but the menu doesn't have it marked as spicy, which I found odd because it was quite spicy, spicier than the curry, which I ordered at "level 1," mild. They are usually pretty careful about that. Nonetheless my boyfriend and I really enjoyed our expeirence and we will be back. Great atmosphere, great service, such friendly staff.
Never had raw broccoli and carrots in pad kee mao. Used to have good drunken noodles here, don't know what happened.
Waited 40mins in the restaurant for a to go order for 2. Checked in every 10ish minutes and was assured it was almost ready. Not even an apology for the delay. Order was also discovered to be incorrect when arriving home. Will not be returning
I ordered at 9:02 on the phone. The representative told me that it would take 20 minutes. I came in to get it at 9:32 and it was not ready. They didn’t even start on my order. I had to wait another 28 minutes for my food. The manager ally was very rude and unforgiving. There are better options in the city to spend your money.
I love every one of the lovely waitresses here, younger and young at heart the team isone of the most delightful reasons for coming here. Always excellent service. I come several timesa month and am never disappointed. I the heat of July I needed something lighter and Olivia suggested the seafood saland. Major home run hit.
Now the best Thai place uptown, since is La Thai on Prytania @ Robert closed. The Tom Kha Coconut soup with shrimp is one of my favorites, but I regularly order several appetizers including the wrapped shrimp and the Sukho Thai dumplings. I tried the Basil Scallops tonight for the first time. It was awesome! Several monthss ago, now, I tried the original branch over on Royal in Marigny, opposite side of town from my Garden District and Uptown roots. The Sukho Thai Marigny atmosphere (in an old house) is much more traditionally New Orleanian.
Delicious vegan options for appetizers, entrées, and dessert
One of my favorite restaurants of all-time. The quality of the food, ingredients, and attentive staff are what sets SukhoThai apart. I’m originally from Seattle and I grew up eating Bangkok-style thai food. I discovered SukhoThai in 2019 while visiting. When I relocated to New Orleans last year it was my first outing with my family. One of my son’s first solid foods was the black rice pudding with coconut milk. The Tom Kha Gai, Green Papaya Salad, and crispy Pork Belly with broccoli are my favorite staples, but everything I’ve tried on their extensive menu is delicious. Also now as a new mom the staff and Michelle truly make me feel at home.
Great food .Delicious
Our hostess was the best.
MICHELLE
the waiter literally said “you can either wait for 10 minutes or you can go eat at some other places” when there are only three to four tables dinning in. Wow
I love this restaurant, but I ordered pickup and waited over 30 minutes past the pick-up time for my order. I was understanding at first, and tried asking for status several times and the staff just avoided me and couldn't provide an estimate as to when the order would be ready. Keep in mind it has now been over an hour since the food was ordered. I could have sat down in the restaurant, ordered food and been served faster. This was extremely unprofessional
Jon B. Was a fantastic server, with outstanding service, and an incredibly kind demeanor. The food was absolutely delicious and again the service was phenomenal. 10/10 will definitely be going again.
Excellent Thai restaurant. Very attractive dining area with friendly, knowledgeable, attentive service. Pad Thai and Dirty noodles were delicious, but beware of spiciness levels. Medium was too hot for this diner, but we'll definitely return.
Food excellent. Service Terrible.
Came alone and sat at bar. Waited 5 minutes to be greeted while someone made a mixed drink right in front of me. Never bothered to ask me if I wanted a drink. Finally a server asked me if I wanted a menu. Of course! I gave her my order about 3 minutes later. Fifteen minutes later, she asked if I wanted to close out. I had never received my food order. Meanwhile, several people who ordered to-go orders waited at the bar and complained of slow service.
Management needs to take action on their service issues.
5 stars all the way. This place has instantly become my top 5 places in New Orleans. I can't even describe the feeling I had while eating..From my appetizers to my desert I was 1000 percent completely satisfied with the freshness and aromatic flavors.. I even ate the rice pudding which was a first for me but also devoured it. I highly recommend this gem!
Amazing Thai food, great portions and even better prices. The wait staff are all wonderful and attentive, and the Manager Nathaniel is the best! Happy hour drinks are delicious and well priced. Take out or dine in, you won’t be disappointed by this place. 5 stars!!
The seafood dirty noodles was very good.
Phone ordered $50 worth of food, went to pickup and they never processed the order. Didn't even offer to expedite a new order. My last visit.. Regular custeno more..
Excellent!
High ceilinged warehouse with low staffing at the moment. Service was a bit slower than typical, but it didn't bother us.
The chef brought out the food, which didn't take that long.
that salad was good but 12$ is highway robbery for something that’ll fit in the palm of my hand
Hours are good. They're open when many places aren't. Food is just okay. Good in a pinch. I've only ever gotten takeout from either location, so maybe portions are good inhouse, but the other day I ordered a large soup to go and for $9.36 plus a couple dollar tip I got a small soup container filled 3/4s lol. Soup was tasty but golly, don't get the soup to go.
