Bangkok Thai has been serving the New Orleans area for over 13 years.
Overall the food was o.k. We were the only people in the restaurant- not a good sign. The Roti (bread) a bit too greasy. The egg rolls seemed like they were reheated & had things in them I couldn’t identify. The Basil Fried rice was good. If you order a drink without ice you’re charged more.
We were in the area and happened to see the sign and give them a try. I’m so glad we did!! Service was great and food was even better. We got the fresh bread, pad thai, and the Bangkok garlic pepper with crispy duck. Everything was perfect! So fresh and seasoned just right!
Read the recent reviews. I should have, but I didn't think it was necessary because I've been going here for 15 years, just not recently. This place used to be amazing. I'm guessing it's under new ownership.
We ordered two entrees of pad kee mao, one of which was tofu and veggies, with extra tofu. They said it would be ready in 10 minutes and it was. We took the food home and immediately noticed there was no tofu and just veggies in the one. I took a photo of the dish and the receipt, called the restaurant and spoke with the guy at the front who took the order and explained the issue. I opted to just take back the wrong order and get it replaced with the correct one.
When I arrived, 20 minutes later, no one had even started my order. The owner is apparently also the cook and needed to see what I brought in as well as the receipt before she attempted to cook it correctly. I don't understand her point. She remade the same exact same dish and put in less than 3 pieces of tofu. There were no orders cooking and very few people in the restaurant each time.
I took it home to my cold half of the order, now about an hour old because she refused to remake the food when I called. The food was bland and didn't even taste like Thai. The crispy rolls were soggy.
It's a shame because this was once a really good restaurant.
Recommend? Not really.
I got the crispy tofu and veggie pad cashew with wide noodles. None of their curries are vegan. The roti is served with red curry. Therefore it is not vegan.
The crispy tofu had a really good crunch to it.
I added wide noodles to the veggie pad cashew thinking they would cook the noodles with the pad cashew, but it was served on the side. It was totally not their fault I was being complicated. I didn't personally like the flavor, it was bit light. The dish was loaded with cashews though unlike some places I've had it at.
Born & raised in New Orleans I’ve been wanting to come here for years; I am Thai and I was not impressed with the authenticity of the food. The ambience & staff Yes but the food was not made with all of the ingredients nor with the love that Thai food deserves. What I ordered could’ve easily passed for an Americanized Chinese dish.
On street parking.
Excellent food excellent service. I would recommend this place to anyone. I will definitely be back.
The food here it is absolutely delicious!, I had the best spring rolls ever here in NOLA in this place! They have plenty vegetarian/vegan options, the curry is delicious, the fried rice is abundant and amazing!.... The lady that took care of us that day was super nice and helpful. I'm definitely going back someday!
Ordered from Uber. Absolutely DELICIOUS! Green Cury with chicken and Pad Thai with chicken. Will definately go in one day.

Ordered pick up. Fried rice. Asked to add chicken, picked up order and went home. No chicken.. called back, no answer, went by to talk to them and they closed early apparently right after I walked out the door. I’ll change the rating if they make it right
I ordered the Pad Thai and Kee Mao on Ubereats, both with veggie and tofu. I've eaten these dishes many times before and know the expected flavors. The Pad Thai tastes like tomato and lime and looks like spaghetti it's so red. This is not Pad Thai. The Kee Mao had the slightest bit of flavoring but was quite boring and not enough sauce. Neither dish had any degree of spiciness. I had less than 10 miniature cubes of squishy tofu. I'm disappointed in my purchase and would not recommend it to anyone looking for authentic or quality Thai food.
unfortunately our food was not good.
curry was too sweet; noodles were dry.
This place changed owners or something. Prices are higher, and they really don’t give you that much for your money. The food is still decent.
Excellent and authentic!

Good Pad Thai and great Pad Kee Mao.
LOVELY staff and wonderful food!
The food is always tasty, but the spice level is inconsistent. Sometimes dishes that are supposed to be light spice end up being too hot. Sometimes just right. Sometime the "spicy"dishes are just right, and other times not spicy enough.
The owner picks+pickles her own Thai chilis from her garden...so so tasty. And she is always a delight. Food is delicious. We will continue to come back on a regular basis 🤤
Great food! Great atmosphere! Love the owners! Very personable!!
Great food, great service!!
Best chicken Pad Thai I’ve had in the city hands down.
Thrilled to have really good Thai around the corner from me! Got a huge takeout order with a bunch of friends and was really impressed. Yellow curry was the best I've ever had! Basil fried rice was flavorful and not greasy and the shrimp I got with it were perfectly cooked. Papaya salad was also a stand out. Only thing I didn't love was the Tom Kha. This is definitely going to become a regular for me. Also I ate here years ago and had very mediocre food, but they have a new chef and maybe a new owner and it shows!
I learned not too long ago that this restaurant has changed ownership sometime in the last year. The former owners were very accommodating to vegans. The current owners tried to talk me out of getting vegan versions of my dishes (they told me they would have no flavor). I was surprised, because I never got that response before. I asked and discovered ownership had changed. I'm sorry to see the former owners go and I'm sorry this restaurant is no longer an option for me. I had some good meals hear over the years.
Wonderful service and food. Easily the best Pad Thai in the city.
Put on hold and never got back to
Ordered through Door Dash.
Almost $70
My wife's red curry was like a loose soup
My fried rice with shrimp and chicken was missing the chicken and had 5 shrimp
Never will I order from you again. Fool me once, thank you for the edification. We were robbed.
Always so friendly and food is great. Great service.
Great food! I realize love their Curry.
I've eaten a lot of Thai food in my lifetime, and this is easily one of the most impressive Thai cuisine experiences I've ever had. The location is charming and almost as if your at home with it's decor and dishware. And then you eat and suddenly your spirit is awoken within your body. The flavors combined are something out of this world only the word ambrosia and divine can sum up the food experience. I especially recommend the Roti bread with red curry as an appetizer followed by chicken pad basil. You will regret nothing.
ordered door dash takeout--was prepared fast. however, I specified in my order that I didn't want peas and I wanted it to NOT be spicy, I said two stars at most. I'm sure the rice is delicious, but I can't really tell because (to me at least) it was inedibly spicy. Like, not even in a good way. Like mouth genuinely burning for 10 minutes after way. I know they read my specifications because there were no peas in my rice, but I guess they do like spice here in New Orleans. So yeah, if you're remotely sensitive to spice like me, either order something mild, make sure they add very little spice, or just don't eat here.

Muy bueno y buenos precios ....very nice and good prices
This place has amazing food and it’s the best I absolutely love it and the workers are super friendly love this place ❤️❤️
The food was really good and the staff was wonderful. You have to ask for your spice level. They made one of the kids dishes with spice when she wanted no spice, they noticed before we did and insisted on fixing it right away.
Bangkok Thai has utterly fantastic food--my friends and I go twice a week. We have tried several other Thai places uptown, and this is the best (w/ good value too). I love the basil duck, but the pad thai and pad kee mao are also delicious, and there are several other menu items I want to try. It's just hard to stray from what I usually order because it is always so good.
Best of all, the service is always friendly, helpful and efficient. The place is coming under new ownership, and the new proprietress, Kate, is doing a great job. The restaurant itself is in a lovely and intimate space, which feels local and homey in the best possible way, and everything is clean and well-organized.
All I can say is that I will continue to visit twice a week for as long as I am able.
Some of the best prices and portions for Thai in the city. The noodle dishes could use more sauce but the flavors are really good!
Very friendly service and so far I've only ordered the yellow curry but on this chilly day it really hits the spot! Flavor of the curry and tenderness of the potatoes remind me much like the way my grandmother makes it. Love that it's very close to my house. I bet I'll be getting food from here a lot in the future.
Good Thai food. Its located around some bars and restaurants in walking distance. So you can get a little Thai and move to some other flavors.
Food and service was excellent. Very authentic Thai food, just not as spicy. We loved it and will be going back!!
My online pickup order was not prepared when I arrived almost 45 mins after placing order and on arriving I was told that I will have to wait another 45-50 minutes for my order (it was a small order of 1 basil fried rice).
Best Thai food in all of nola. There’s 4 restaurants closer to me but the drive is worth every second. Every single thing I’ve tried on the menu has been delicious. I often go for the beef Pad see ew but their Pad Thai is amazing too. All of the apps are
Great, all of the desserts are great, you cannot pass up the mango sticky rice. I promise you won’t regret it! Just whatever you do, if you order delivery do not use postmates unless you absolutely have to. They charge SO MUCH more than the other delivery apps. Even with a coupon my Order was $12 more than the others for the exact same thing and it would have taken 2x longer. Just FYI. They’re a rip off. Door dash is the best imo. But no matter what you won’t regret eating here.
Been going here for 20 years. Always fresh. Always good service. GREAT DATE NIGHT PEACE!!!
E we got three vegetarian options and they were all great.
Fast and yummy for a Pad Thai fix. Can't really speak for any of the other food since I end up ordering Pad Thai everytime I go.
The sweet and sour tofu is delicious, it's not on the menu but they were able to make it for me. Fast and friendly service
the pumpkin curry with duck is amazing.
House Pad Thai and Green Curry makes for very happy bellies. I'm sure I'll order something else here, one day.
I really like the pad Thai, and the food is pretty good and it’s open late which are all positives. Nothing bad to say! :)
It was okay. I have had better. The pineapple fired rice was good.
Best pad Thai in the city
Loved it! I can't remember how to pronounce what I ate but it was delicious 😋 Also very inexpensive
We loved the sharable appetizers and exceptional renditions of our favorite Thai dishes!
We highly recommend the Pad Basil and Ginger Fish. We also really enjoyed the Crispy Tofu and spring rolls appetizers. Everything was cooked perfectly, and the flavors were on point! Next time I want to try the Cocunut Seafood Soup and maybe one of the salads. We'll also have to be sure to save room for dessert, especially the fried banana with ice cream or mango with sticky rice!
If you like spicy food, my Cajun companion challenges you to try Bangkok Thai's spice level 5!
Although this was our first visit to Bankok Thai, we noted there were several regulars. We loved the friendly and attentive service, along with the beautiful decor and quiet music.
Thanks so much for a great experience. Can't wait to visit again!

Sadly my Pad Thai was dry and the tofu felt really old. I didn’t enjoy it.
If I could describe Bangkok Thai in one word it would be disappointing. Seriously, the mango rice was just a mango on top of some rice. The service was awesome. Unfortunately, I don't go to restaurants for the service. All in all the food was underwhelming, however, I do think it's okay to eat. It's nice that it's next door to Cooter Brown's, because you can grab a drink while you wait for your takeout.
Top notch Thai food in the New Orleans area. A weekly staple for me.
Worst place ever for thai food
Quaint Thai spot in Carrollton. The dining area is small with super nice decor, and the service is top notch even with the to-go orders clearly fueling the establishment. Pad Kee Mow is my most common order, good as a vegetarian dish or with meat. If you are shy about their spicing habits, ask for their milder end and grab some of their chili oil.
Been a fan for a while, and they've been consistently good over the years. Service is always super nice! Food's good, not amazing. If you're going for pad thai with them, def get their "house pad thai" over the regular stuff. The lil curry kick makes it worthwhile!
I love this restaurant me and my boyfriend come here often on dates but the restaurant isn't really the place to have big groups of people. It's a cute, quaint and quiet little restaurant but the atmosphere is nice with pretty decor. Parking situation is a little tight but it's located in a nice area. I typically order the BBQ Pork Thai Style. They have a wide selection on their menu for many different palette's so I suggest experimenting with the items on the menu. I decided to try the Thai Iced Tea and I fell in love with it. I come here solely for Thai Iced Tea so I definitely recommend trying it on your first visit. Definitely my favorite go-to Thai place.
I love this place, great food, but went there tonight and I couldn't believe how ugly and sarcastic and unhelpful the waitress was. The owner is so nice, so it was upsetting dealing with this woman. She was mocking patrons, annoyed at any question about food from patrons, and was ugly to someone coming in looking for work. If the owner reads this, he should really consider removing her from your great Thai restaurant. She is horrible.
Very expensive. No lunch special
Food was great
I've been eating here for 6+ years and can't get enough of it. Everything they cook is mouth watering and the service is exceptional.
Looked to see if the restaurant would be open during lunch time, which their Google Place Page states they would be. My fiancee and I made plans to go have lunch there. We arrived at 12:15, over an hour after they supposedly open, and their door is open. We walk in and there is no one around, but we can hear two gentlemen speaking in the kitchen. We waited a few minutes, tried rattling the bell on the door and no one came out. We called out several times and the two gentlemen stopped talking every time, but no one came out. We waited a total of 8 minutes, made our presence known and were not even greeted. As a result, I lost my lunch break due to horrific customer service.
Stopped here with my husband for dinner on our way to a concert last fall. It was wonderfully peaceful, quiet, and clean, which is rare for a restaurant in New Orleans on a weekend. The service was attentive and friendly without being overly involved in our business, which we appreciated. The coconut soup was hot and tangy and delicious, and the spring rolls were excellent as well. Definitely hope to go back!
I'm knocking a star off of this place because they advertise as being open until 9:30, but the kitchen actually closes at 9:00. Please update your times, so another poor soul doesn't take a leisurely shower while dreaming of curry, try to order take out at 9:10, and then get told, "no Thai for you."
This place was great. The curry was very flavorful and the perfect amount of spicy (almost uncomfortable spicy, but not) - definitely not bland like other reviews mentioned. I've eaten at Chill Out Cafe and Thai Mint plenty of times, and this place was every bit as good. The rice here is better than Chill Out or Thai Mint. The green beans in the curry were really fresh. Our server was really friendly. We'll be coming back.
First time going. Nice quiet atmosphere. :-) The pad thai was a bit skimpy on veggies... upcharge on peanut sauce :-(
Best Thai
I always find their dishes to be fresh and deliscious. Staff is always hospitable in my experience.
A small store front nestled between a po-boy shop and Cooter Browns. Defiantly seek it out..all the way down by the levee. I had the Clay Pot Rice. Listed as spicy it was more flavorful than hot. Vegy/seafood over rice with some super yum sauce under the rice. A medly of flavors. I wanted to lick the bowl clean.
This place is a staple in the house. When ever we don't know where to go this is a safe place for good food and low key place
Excellent tasting food with very fresh ingredients. Outstanding customer service.
The food is tasty and reasonable prices.
Best Thai food in Nola!!!! ...hands down. The spicy eggplant with shrimp is my favorite.
It's fallen off. Went in around 2 told the dinning room was closed. Had to take it to go and food wasn't as good as it used to be.
I ordered takeout and the food was hot and ready on time. However, plastic utensils and napkins were not included (I find that odd as every time I order takeout, utensils are included). I ordered green veggie curry with rice. The curry here is very different from curries elsewhere. Its very runny and thin. I also taste more spices and less coconut. If you like a creamier, thicker, "coconutty" curry, I would suggest Thai Mint up the street.
A staple
Duck special Curry and spicy wings make for a great dinner. Thai tea is more reasonably priced than a lot of other restaurants in New Orleans.
Had the Panang curry. It was good, would have liked it to be spicier.
Lovely atmosphere for a date. Affordable and very flavorful food. Super nice service. I will always return for the Pineapple Fried Rice.
Best place for Pad Thai. The curry duck breast is also very good.
Great hidden gem. Panag curry is to die for.
Delicious and inexpensive. The owner is super friendly.
AT THE END OF ST. CHARLES AND CARROLTON AVE. BANGKOK RESTAURANT FOR VERY DECENT PRICES HAS QUITE THE FLAVORFUL MENU. THEIR PA-THAI IS A MUST.
One of the most tasty thai foods in New Orleans and the prices are reasonable! Definitely recommend
My favorite Thai restaurant in Nola!
Watered down curries, and coconut soups. Nothing authentic about this place except for the pictures on the wall. Pad thai not very good. But the chili oil was hot.....thus the one star
Best Thai on the east bank hands down.
Tasty Thai food and good lunch specials
Really fantastic green curry tofu.
The people who work here are very nice! Feels like a family owned establishment! Great customer service. Don't get me started on how delicious the food was! I spent a month in Thailand and there food reminded me of my beautiful time there! Much more fancy than what I was eating of corse. Prices are comparable for the area!
I will be going back!
Best Thai hands down in New Orleans!
I love this place; one of my favorite go to's when I'm in town. Service is always great. I always get: calamari, silver noodle soup, and chicken pad thai. The duck dish is also incredible and I love the pineapple in the fried rice.
Delish
Basil fish was outstanding as was the vegetarian coconut soup. My dining companions all loved their entrees as well. Quick and friendly service and lovely environment as well.
great veggie curry! they close at 930 on week days and 10 on week ends.
I've been recommended this place by more than one person and it was definitely a good recommendation . The veggie Pad Thai is amazing !
Great food! Definitely under rated. I love Thai, and this place really does it right!
Best take-out thai option in town.
Excellent food! Fresh! Nice variety.
I have been coming to this place for 12+ years. Over that time there were good days and there were bad days. Over all, I liked most of the dishes that I have ordered. At times the service can be very slow depending on the number of people working that shift. My favorite plate is the glass noodle salad. When the sour / spicy vinegar comes to the table, you can feel it in your throat before you take a bite. We liked the owners previous to the ones now, primarily because we use to be food tasters new items. Before they placed anything new on the menu, they made small portions and allowed the customers to give their opinion on the item.
the food was good, but the service was iffy. the pad thai is delicious - has that je ne sais quoi that makes pad thai what it is. the tom kar gai, which can be hit or miss, is great. don't expect red-carpet treatment, but if you're craving thai this hole-in-the-wall will be just right.
Didn't have much in the expectation department, but man, this place was bad. The person who just reviewed was correct. It was simply bad food. A Thai restaurant should not mess up Pad Thai, but it did. Got the food to go, but I doubt it would have changed if we'd eaten in.
