Bright & casual eatery dishing a wide menu of curries, rice dishes, noodles & other Thai favorites.
Banana Blossom feels like a tropical vacation in your mouth. Their Thai cuisine is vibrant, fresh, and full of personality, just like your cool foodie friend who knows all the hidden gems 😎. The Roti Bread? A perfect balance of butter and curry on perfectly made soft sweet bread—it’ll slap your taste buds awake. And the Crab Claws? So rich and fragrant, you’ll want to cuddle up with them on a rainy day. Pro tip: use the sauce from the crab claws with the Chicken Tacos—it’s beyond amazing, stealing the spotlight every time. This spot is a must for flavor adventurers!

I dined here on a Friday evening around 5:30 pm. Everything was great! Service was friendly, attentive, and quick. Decorum was also fancy and clean. I ordered their Roti ($7.00) as an appetizer, their Smoked Pork Belly Ramen ($15.00) as a small entree, and the Nutella Roti ($9.00) & Thai Tea Ice Cream ($8.00) as the desserts. I also got their regular Thai Tea ($5.00) as my drink.
Their Smoked Pork Belly Ramen was so juicy, tender, & flavorful. The tangy bbq sauce added so much to the dish in a good way. Roti was good as always. The Thai Tea Ice Cream was so rich and had enough variety for the price. This restaurant can be pricy, but since it's considered a fancy restaurant I'd say the quality is worth the price. I'd come back on a good occasion!
Also, there is only street parking, which I didn't really mind since it's located in a somewhat safe neighborhood, but I just wanted to give everyone a heads up.
Everything about this place is amazing! Walked in with a cake and they immediately offered to put it in the fridge. Every person I encountered while there was super sweet and super helpful, the staff was immaculate. The roti was soft and warm with a great flavor, the sauce that comes with it was perfectly made. We ordered the pork belly ramen, fried dumplings, and the fried oysters for apps and every single thing was top tier. Hot, fresh, flavorful just everything you want in a meal! I got the short rib pasta and it was literally the best food I think I’ve ever had. Fall off the bone meat, noodles cooked to the perfect texture, flavors were amazing. Presentation was insane too, every meal looked exactly like the menu which by the way was an amazing detail, the menu has pictures of every item. I’ve never seen that, from what I recall, and the visuals really tied everything together.
They came out after we dined eating with the cake and a house dessert that had candles which was so sweet of the staff. The dessert was fried bananas in coconut in a pool of either caramel or honey I can’t remember, which a lavender ice cream. That ice cream was to D I E for! We finished with the Nutella roti and even something so simple like that was amazing. It was soft, creamy and warm.
If you’ve never been this is an AMAZING place to go, easily one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been!
This is by far my top 10 Asian restaurants I ever been! They have a such variety of food 🍱! And every dish is better than the other! Their menus by far should be copied by other restaurants, it has a clear picture of every dish to make sure you see what you’re ordering! If you like Thai food! This is the place to go! It’s definitely worth the drive to Westbank!
My friend and I visited this place yesterday, and it was no disappointment. I ordered the Korean ramen chicken. I enjoyed the food and the phenomenal customer service, and the wait time was accommodating and acceptable. My friend ordered the Ka Pao ribeye ramen. We also ordered the crispy dumplings to give them a try, and they were good as well. & happy hour is 5 PM-7 PM, so our house margaritas were $9. No split checks, unfortunately! Parking is limited, so be prepared to walk, but it is worth it!!!
This place was everything! The food was great! Oh my goodness! And the service, our waiter Marie, superb! Stupendous, remained calm under all of the pressure. I gave 4 stars for the atmosphere cause the place is very small and it was jammed packed. There was absolutely no way to walk through comfortably on any side. However, the overall experience was 5 star for sure! Thank you Marie! Wishing you the best always!
The food and service are fantastic. Dishes are created and presented artfully and very eye appealing. The portions are generous. The food is well seasoned and a bit milder than many Thai restaurants we have been to. This makes it more approachable to people that prefer milder seasonings. You can easily spice it up by asking for some Thai chilies. Add SMALL amounts and taste. You can always add more. The service was attentive and efficient. Please get bags with wider bottoms to fit the large take out bowls.
I highly recommend either of the lamb dishes. Both are very flavorful with excellent curry! The spring rolls are crispy and thin shells making them easy to bite through.
The unique cocktails are excellent! The lychee mojito is my favorite.
The owner is often at the hostess station and frequently comes to check on you at the table!
This food was AMAZING!! I love Thai food and feel like I can be a pretty tough critic. Every single item was delicious, the flavors were well balanced and the portion sizes were what you look for in dining out. Once those needs are met, you have a loyal customer in me. We ordered the Roti appetizer, steamed dumplings, Brussels sprouts, crab claws, Tom kha with seafood, crab fried rice, shrimp shumai. Every single item was a 10. The only thing I would change is adding a slight hint of heat. I added red pepper flakes and it took the flavors over the top. I’m in New Orleans often. I plan to make this a must stop every trip!
Great food. Small restaurant but great food. Staff very kind.

Love all kind of food they serve

Absolutely phenomenal Thai cuisine
The food was good but not as good for the price I paid
Been to the restaurant to dine in a month ago, went yesterday for a take out oder. I was outraged about a five dollar up charge for take outs.. But why ?
Absolutely love the food here. Its rich and spiced. It has depth and texture in every plate prepared. Wonderful place for date night
It was my 1st experience here & it was great!!

The food and service here were outstanding. Absolutely a must!
Altisimamente recomendable
I've been at BB countless times, the first place I recommend to my visitors in Nola
This place is very nice. Ace, the bartender is awesome!! He was personable and his margaritas were the best. The food is great and pretty 😍.
Food, atmosphere and service were great!
Crazy good Thai food with inventive twists on standard dishes. Absolutely worth the drive over to Gretna.
Great food
The curry is amazing.
The only problem with this place is the ridiculous parking. But it's not the owners fault ..But come on Gretna you can do better
Me and my boyfriend want to try banana blossom while we was back in the city … first and foremost the service was horrible we were sitting for 7 mins waiting to be service nobody never came and asked what we wanted to drink … as soon as 2 ladies say buy us they came and serve them I asked the lady well cab we at least get drinks she walked off and another lovely lady came and assist us this was a bad experience for our first time the food was okay but I don’t think we will be back it felt very racist!!!!
The food is absolutely fantastic, and as we sat at the bar, we had a great server and a show watching him mix drinks. My wife had been to the restaurant a few times and raved about it each time. I saw my opportunity, and it was worth it. Being a small restaurant, it can get a bit noisy, but the flavors drown it all out.
Some of the best Thai food I’ve ever had! A must try is the crab claws in red curry with a side of roti. Yum yum yum
Pretty loud inside. Hard to talk to each other at the table.
It’s small and loud but the food is so good. The Thai BBQ sauce is incredible. Nothing like it.
The Thai Tea is smokey and sweet yet refreshing.
Leaving this review from Thailand because I have been travelling (like a foodie) for 9 weeks and I miss Banana Blossom's Khao Soi! I don't know how much better of an endorsement you can get than that. Here's my current view of the Bangkok riverfront lol.
(Someone's probably gonna screengrab this and post about how New Orleans are wild about their food. It true.)
Ordered Korean ramen crispy chicken. It's bad as I thought

More expensive than is necessary. Great food though
Cuisine goûteuse et épicé à point. Restaurant souvent complet, réservé d'avance.
Food was low/mid. Wayyyyy too over priced. Ordered a coke $2.50. I was given a can of coke and a glass of ice. Stop at the Birdies across the street and get a drink. There was a fly going around bother everyone. It landed on a few people's plates. Servers were nice.
Every menu item we ordered was absolutely delicious. Can't wait to go back. Sorry I did not order a quart of the soup I had with shrimp to GO !

It was so good, I forgot to take pictures. Even my partner who doesn't normally like Thai food said we will be back. Do yourself a favor and get over there!
The food was beautiful like art and tasted just as nice. My daughter and I had the Bangkok Wings for an appetizer. The wings were tasty and moist with the perfect sauce to top them off. We drank vanilla chai teas for our beverage as we devoured our Tom Yum Pork ramen! Katherine was lovely, soft spoken and very attentive to us! We thank this beautiful establishment for a five star experience! The food is so clean tasting, fresh and cooked to order! We WILL definitely be back soon!
First time trying this joint after wanting to go for a few years. Definitely should have gone sooner. Not sure if they allow reservations, but if so, take that route because it had a nice crowd for a Thursday night. My dining partner suggested starting with the roti, seeing as it was one of the lighter choices, because the entrees are pretty big portions. Our server suggested the Korean Ramen Crispy Chicken, but I didn't want anything fried, so I went with her second suggestion of Ka Pao Ribeye. I asked for extra spicy, but still had to add chili oil; Same thing happened at another Thai restaurant. Looking at the menu again, I definitely didn't have broth like in the picture, but it was still a really good dish. I'd definitely give this place another go!
Good food. So delicious. One of our favorites. It is a loud place so we order delivery.
The best Thai food I have had in a very long time. Highly recommend!!
Bananna Blossom was awesome. I had the Cadillac Margarita and it was great, I had the pork belly ramen and it was the best ramen I'd ever had in my life, the scenery and vibe was awesome. I'd recommend this for a date night and can't wait to go back. The rodi is a must try for anyone who hasn't tried it yet. I honestly give this place a perfect score, the food, vibe, and service was top tier. It's not overly expensive but the prices do add up, I had a parry of 4 and spent $200 but it was more than worth it and I can't wait to come back.
I like Thai food, but honestly I was initially skeptical about the food at Banana Blossom - But Wow I was completely impressed! I had egg rolls and crispy chicken, everything was delicious. The portions are huge, you get a good amount of food. Great place to eat.
The food was very good! The only issue I had was that the restaurant was very loud!
Got to the place 5min before they opened and as waiting outside. The Lady (i assume the owner) was so rude, that we left without even eating.
Limited table service with street parking in a neighborhood but the Food and Service are Great!
Food presentation and flavor are excellent. Lychee Martini very good along with appetizer and entree. Didn't get to desert as food portions are generous. Nice atmosphere but a little noisy.
We were visiting the Zion and Bryce. We were super hungry and tired and took a chance with this restaurant on the way back to Las vegas. One of the best Thai foods i have tasted. The hostess whom i think is the owner tweaked the items to cater to our vegan dietary needs. The taste of every item we ordered were good. We only felt the portion size could have been a bit more.
Food and atmosphere are good here, however, the seating service is some of the worst I’ve experienced and the restaurant really isn’t accessible for people with disabilities. I came last week with my grandmother and mom, both in their 90s and 70s, and we were excited to have a family dinner. We were told there would be an hour wait, but that ultimately became nearly 2 hours before we were given a table. They don’t offer any seating inside while waiting, which I understand because the place is very small. However, there was no waiting area even for handicapped patrons. So my grandmother who uses a walker had to stand the entire time. When the table finally came available, it was at the back of the restaurant. There was also a large party that we had to push by and just had lots of difficulty getting around, and the staff never helped us get seated. The seating person couldn’t have cared less and never showed any empathy. If he’d at least been apologetic and showed any kind of compassion, that would have been appreciated. After the wait nearly double the time originally told to us, they didn’t even offer a complimentary soda or anything. I get they are popular now (I’ve been coming since they opened with far less of a crowd), but with the poor customer service all around, I probably wouldn’t return.
Best Happy Hour!
It was my first time here and the food was delicious. I will be returning to try other menu items .
First time trying this place and it didn’t disappoint. Our server was spectacular (he was also the bartender). Food was good and came out quick. Moderately priced menu with plenty options to choose from. It’s a small, quaint restaurant and the atmosphere is family oriented. Me and family will most definitely return.
I've been here 20+ times and every visit is 5 star.
A great experience!! I tried a variety of menu with my family from the dumplings to the lamb and grits. We also got some plum wine which was delicious!
Such an amazing wonder restaurant
If you can take a bike and catch the ferry and ride your bike there
It’s beautiful
There are moments in every man's life when he stops to reflect on what he has accomplished. The work he has done and still to do. His family and how he can be there. And a bowl of ramen with pork belly that he is going to devour in a way that normal society will not agree with. This place is that place for me.
You should not charge peoples 10% tips for take out. This is why I will not give you 4 stars or more.
Food was good. Incredibly loud in the restaurant. Averaged 100dB over the hour we were there. Absorption can help!
Amazing Thai food, in a fun and clean environment. Staff is always welcoming and professional.
My dish...Pad Thai Crispy Chicken.
Excellent! Delicious!
I can't wait to go back! Food was so flavorful, I didn't expect to love everything but we all did. Iv'e been raving and mentioning it to all my foodie friends!
Service was great but the food is the worst Thai I have ever had. Paradoxically I have heard this is the best Thai in the city and so was very excited to try it, however, everything tasted candy sweet- even spicy or umami dishes that I’ve had at other restaurants that have never come out sweet. As someone who doesn’t like sweet things this was a massive disappointment. My boyfriend does like sweet food however and in his words “this doesn’t taste like anything I’ve ever had, and not in a good way”. Major let down, especially after dropping close to 100$.
Favorite Gretna restaurant. Delicious food. Friendly service. Pork belly ramen is my favorite. Also a great spot for happy hour.
An absolute treat of a restaurant in the heart of Gretna. Started with a Rotti appetizer along with the mini egg rolls. Both shock your pallette, leaving you desiring more. As for the entrees, I fancied the Hawaii 504 and my guest reordered a favorite of her's the BB Seafood Curry. Highly impressed with the food, service and atmosphere. A nice escape from whatever your norm may be. If you haven't given Banana Blossom a taste, may this review steer you there.
Local Gem
I daydream about what meal I'm going to order next here. These folks are so wonderful, so friendly, so sweet and the food is spectacular. In fact, I'm plotting my lunch for today. Because I'm going back for me.
A regular. Enough said. LOL!!!!
I’m embarrassed to be writing this as I’m eating the food but the chiang mai big rib has to be in my top 10 of delicious foods I’ve ever eaten in my life. It’s that damn good. Must try!
Loved looking forward to bringing the family
Came here for lunch with 3 coworkers and we ordered multiple appetizers / entrees then shared everything. The food was amazing. My only complaint is that it’s not closer to my office otherwise I would be here weekly.
Food was great but service was “not so great ”. The server we began with was not the one we ended with. Not sure why they switched my sever out halfway during my experience without me knowing & had her waiting on other tables (& we came right when they opened so it wasn’t super busy or anything). My family was only tended to once throughout the entire experience (and this was only when our 1st waiter brought us bottled water to drink). Not once did she come over and ask if the food was okay, if we’re doing okay or needed anything. The second male waiter brought out our dessert then the check without introducing himself or anything. Lastly , while leaving out, the male hostess was standing near the door and turned away when we exited. This was very unprofessional ..no “thank you” or “have a nice day”. I’m one who really pays attention to how I’m treated at restaurants from the time I enter to the time I leave. Overall, I wouldn’t say this was a very “bad” experience but it wasn’t very welcoming. Now, to the food: I had the roti as an appetizer , I ordered the Hawaii 504 shrimp for myself, my son ordered the lobster and grits & my daughter got the dumplings and fried rice with a fried egg on the side. Also had the fried cheesecake for dessert in celebration of my son’s birthday. Everything was tasty …except the cold fried egg they served on the side. My total was around $80 and with tip, about $92. Due to the unprofessional service, Banana Blossom will not be one of my “go to” Thai restaurant like I would have hoped. I will stick to other Thai places I’ve been to with better service.
Got pad Thai takeout, yummmmm
Everthing I ordered is way tooooooooo salty even though I told the waiter to make them less salty for me if possible. The prices are relatively higher compared to other Asian style restaurants. Would not recommend this place.
I had the Kimchi Rice Tofu Bowl Sitch:/.. My food tasted rushed however one would like perceive that.. it’s the only adjective I feel describes it. Overall, I wasn’t feeling the love or comfort from it. It was just something to digest at the price of $14.
Me and my fiancé’s first time here. Delicious couldn’t ask for a better meal. We will be back great service.
Great food, great service, good cocktails, nice gem!
Without a doubt, Banana Blossom is the best restaurant in the Westbank. Sure, that’s saying something, but even more than that, you can plop this place in New York or Los Angeles and it would do wonderfully. The flavors are bright and satisfying, the service is warm and personable, and the atmosphere is hip and beautiful. Do not sleep on this absolute gem.
One of the best restaurants in the New Orleans area -- and yes, that's saying a lot. It's not the most traditional of Thai, but it is very inventive. Prices were surprisingly good. Good cocktails as well, but the beer selection is woefully inadequate.
Had lunch here last week, and the food was delicious! Fresh, flavorful, and visually appealing. Service was attentive and friendly. I look forward to going back.
The BEST! Everything was extremely delicious and had its own unique flavor. We ordered 6 different dishes and ate it all! The craft cocktails were amazing. The service was impeccable! A true hidden gem.
My experience here was not good. My server was rude and walked off in the middle of me explaining to him that we had waited an hour for our ribeye ramen, he stated no you didn’t, we have a timer here. I don’t care what your timer says. We got here at 5:05, the ramen was brought out at 6pm! We honestly thought they forgot to put it in, but because he never checked on us, once we were finished eating our happy hour menu items, we asked for the bill, because we thought he had forgotten about the ramen, nevertheless, the experience because of our rude server was not satisfactory. Will not be returning. I own a business in this area; and will not be recommending this place based off of how I was treated. This could have been handled so much better!
Outstanding fusion menu! Every single thing on our table was magnificent. Great service! I will definitely dine there again. I had to hold one star on atmosphere. With brick walls and cement floors, the subsequent sound reverberation was so loud, it made it impossible to enjoy normal, relaxed conversion. You have to speak above the din. Some decorative acoustic wall treatments would go a long way to improve the general experience. But my party had a great time anyway. Highly recommend!
Get the coconut soup!!
Absolutely amazing always!!
Great Atmosphere, Food was Delish, Very Good Service. Very Clean
Visited Banana Blossom as a party of two on a Saturday afternoon. We were seated immediately. Their decor is modern with newer light fixtures and can lighting. Their tables are really close together. Although it was crowded, it was not too loud.
Server 1 took care of us. She was really informative about the menu but she did not check on us as we were eating. The soft drinks are canned Coke products. I ordered the egg rolls to start. My entree was the Chiangmai Noodle with trout. They were out of the lamb & grits dish. It was very flavorful and delicious. The spices were on point; ginger, cilantro, etc. My nose started running like I was eating crawfish, lol. I am so glad that I finally tried this place!
Not just the Best Thai food in New Orleans, best Thai food I have ever had!!
Absolutely positively excellent.
Much Much better
🙃
Very delicious food. Unique Thai menu. Really odd service.
I'll start by saying the food was incredibly delicious. We tried the chang mai curry, the bb curry, and the smoked meat ramen. The ramen was a stir fried ramen with smoked pork belly on top. It was a bit plain, but ok. The other two dishes are flavor bombs.
The service was odd. It was almost like we weren't wanted there. The waiter dropped off the menus, came back a few minutes later, and asked "do you know what you want yet?". That's it. No other interactions. No other check ins. No other solicitations of questions. Just tractional.
Food is good, but not with the price, poor service, and lack of parking.
This is hands down the best Thai restaurant in New Orleans and the greater New Orleans area. Food is amazing, the vibe is very cool but artistic, and the service is amazing. My server was extremely attentive and always accommodate anything i wanted. the vibe is that of a busy upscale city dine-in (no you don't have dress up). Finally the food is just amazing. so much flavors in every dish, from appetizers to desserts
This is a wonderful little gem in Gretna. The service was great and the food was excellent. We had the whole fish for 3 and was the perfect size. The crab claws appetizer and the Brussel Sprouts were very tasty. A short ride from New Orleans definitely worth it.
The food is always great here and the servers are very kind and knowledgeable. The wings and kimchi fried rice is AMAZING and while it’s a small plate, it was more than enough for dinner.
Try the roti chicken tacos and the trio crème brûlée (save Nutella for last). I wouldn’t get the hazelnut dessert again (pictured). While it looks pretty, it’s too dense to be enjoyable.
Their Thai food is great but Korean-inspired food is not so much unfortunately
This was our first time dining at Banana Blossom 🌸 and they blew me away. The service was phenomenal, The food was delicious and divine. All the boxes was checked ✔️ and we will definitely be back again. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to my family and friends.
great
Service was paced a little fast but otherwise it was very good. Roti is phenomenal. Softshell crab special was great with BB Curry noodles
Been a customer since they opened their restaurant. They have the best staff and food. Unfortunately they have taken off many of the old items off the menu that I love, but if you ask the staff that has been there for a while (and if they have the ingredients) they will make you it, they have great flexibility
Looks nicer than their old spot. Can get loud during peak times. Food was ok...didnt come out hot.
Updated Review: it's been years since I've been back. Decided to check it out because we were in the area. I still believe their old location was better in terms of authenticity and flavor. Menu seems more fusion than authentic Thai now. Spice levels are definitely not Thai spicy. Food was seasoned well and had good flavor though. Portions have gotten smaller even with the increase in prices.
A wonderful place with fusions I have never had before. I ordered the lamb and grits and it was delicious!
The place is packed, but there was hardly any wait for my dishes. The drinks were good, and unique.
Definitely worth a visit. I'll be back next time I'm in New Orleans
So happy I found this place the amount of flavor they’re able to pack in a dish is amazing . I got the lamb plate I was completely caught off guard with how delicious it was, I will 100% be back!!
The parking is bad. The place itself is small with few tables but the food is excellent. Highly recommend
This is a new restaurant and the selections are sophisticated but limited and no lunch menu, you're paying the same price regardless and it's small to large option with a fish plate at 26. It's definitely not for groups that want variety over the cultural experience.
Perfect for a first date, offers intimate dining, with vcultural dishes that set it apart from the more general Thai dishes we see. You'll find some surprising options of the owners region.
It's a family owned and that's a beautiful things passing down possibly their favorites upgraded w sophistication.
Wait staff is..idk.... We arrived and were seated by a gentleman. Then a waiter came, we asked to be moved, instead of allowing it he left to assign that to the greeter who only said oh sure. 😂. Once we sat where we decided on, the waiter returned. Both were professional.
Unfortunately for us we were actually at the wrong address! So we didn't order but our waiter was more than helpful in helping us get to the right Thai restaurant.
Well definitely go back but not with children. If your preteen has a upgraded palate this place is great off budget. If you don't have a budget and open to allowing exploration this the place.
Great wine selection! A must with the limited fine dining experience in Grenta.. Banana serves that up 💯.
the clams with the roti is so good
Always a great experience
