Great food and great service!

Diner Review №2

WOW! This place is sooooooo good. I live less than a mile away and I can't explain why I haven't eaten here before. This will become my favorite place to eat Thi food.

Diner Review №3

Excellent authentic Thai food in a laid back atmosphere. I love certain Asian noodles instead rice, if you like Tom Yum soup flavors give the Tom Yum noodles a try. It is NOT a noodle soup. Drunken & Pad Thai are excellent as well.

Diner Review №4

Walking in here the place had quite a few people dining inside. As a foodie, I love Tom Kha Soup. This one had the spice on point. The deep fried pork egg rolls were fresh and crispy. The homemade sauce definitely made its point that the rolls were made to marry. I wish I was able to get more in my takeout. Prices for these dishes awesome, but honestly, they are definitely worth more!

Diner Review №6

Wonderful lunch today. We had the shrimp panang curry and the chicken pad Thai.

Food was excellent!

Diner Review №7

This hidden gem is absolutely incredible. I work just around the corner and have passed it more times than I can count. I finally stopped in for lunch with my coworker and I will continue to do some the food was incredibly fresh. So delicious.

Diner Review №8

This food was AMAZING! First time ever to go here, but we will definitely be back!

Diner Review №9

Ive tried nearly everything on the menu almost twice and it never disappoints! They make the best crab rangoons in town, hands down. If you’re looking for a standout dish, I highly recommend their KHAO SOI (Coconut Curry Noodle Soup). It’s rich, flavorful, and just perfect.

Diner Review №10

We ordered Pad Thai and pork egg rolls and sat outside on a beautiful fall day for a late lunch. Everything was great - the food, the service, and the happy vibe of everyone there! I can't believe I cleaned my plate, it was so good! We will be back soon.

Diner Review №11

I have never in my life had something so hatefully hot. I ordered the Laab, which was on the salad menu. What I got was a quarter peice of a head of cabbage and some ground meat tossed in a bowl like pig feed. I should have turned around when I noticed the wife/possible owner of the establishment glaring at me when I parked in front of the establishment (I had my lights turned off to avoid blinding anyone with a glass front) and when the older white couple who was there before me packed up in a huff. Unfortunately for me, i beleive she was the person who made this act of violence posing as a meal. The young lady that took my order was kind but I will never spend money in this establishment again. What a 'welcome back' to the Baton Rouge area.

Diner Review №13

Great place! Highly recommended! My friend and I were in the mood for a curry. Ordered the Yellow Curry and Massaman Curry. Both were excellent. They're open for lunch, then close for a couple of hours, and reopen for dinner@4pm. We got there around 4:00 and they were already very busy with what I assumed were take out orders. Service was very fast and the food came out piping hot. Portions are very generous. By 4:30, the place was starting to fill up.

Diner Review №14

Fair food I guess. This was $14. Sucks to get takeout, get to your destination to find that no napkins or silverware were included. Thai Kitchen is 500x better

Diner Review №15

Chicken Laab and Tom Yum. Fantastic. Perfect lunch spot.

Diner Review №16

Great place to get quick feed that is also very good. I had the Thai fried rice with shrimp and the pork spring rolls. Both were excellent. They ask you if you want your food mild, medium or hot. Gots a little busier during lunch but they are very quick making the food.

The papaya salad was amazing. My only complaint was the heat levels seemed inconsistent. But I highly recommend.

Diner Review №25

Every time you are in Baton Rouge; YOU COME HERE, point, blank, period.

I have not even been in MONTHS, and I am deciding to leave them a review just because their food and service is just that good and sticks with you.

Go and Enjoy.

Diner Review №26

Great friendly service. When I go to a new restaurant, I ask the person waiting on me for suggestions. Ultimately, I tried the Drunken Noodles (hot). The dish was very good. Portion size was adequate as well.

There was a constant flow of people coming in for lunch. Even while busy with the lunch crowd, the dining and kitchen areas were clean. I will definitely come back and try other dishes soon.

Diner Review №27

Best Thai food in BR! I really love how authentic the food tastes. Plus their servings are pretty large for tomorrow's leftovers. I love so many of their dishes - it's really hard to choose!

Diner Review №28

We tried Chai-Thai Lao for the first time with take out today! Both dishes were great! Pad Thai & Khao Soi were our selections. Probably are favorite since Rama closed.

Diner Review №29

Great little Thai place conveniently located for lunch near Drusilla.

Diner Review №30

One of my absolute favorites. Food is always delicious and the service is phenomenal.

Diner Review №31

Excellent food and service.

Diner Review №32

If you want awesome Thai food in the BR area, go no further! We had the drunken noodles-superb, pepper steak-deliciously tender, egg rolls-ahhhhmazing, and mango sticky rice-delightful! Everything was made fresh and was brought out fairly quickly. Donna was the best, we was greeted with a smile and she was so sweet. I can’t wait to go back for some of their amazing food!

Diner Review №33

This is the go to for Thai food! Stopped here while on our way to Florida. From the moment we walked in, the waitress greeted us with joy! The food was cooked to perfection, bursting with authentic flavors. We ordered the Pad Thai Chicken, Saka Chicken, Red Curry with Shrimp, and Tom Kah Soup. Highly recommend for anyone craving delicious Thai cuisine!

Diner Review №34

First time going and got the drunken beef noodle. Man, it was good. Great flavors and portions. Medium is pretty hot, which I like, but be mindful because most people don't like that much Spice. Great friendly service and the place was packed before I got out of there. I will definitely go back.

Go with friends who are willing to share, or get new friends. ALL was great, especially when trying new things.

Diner Review №41

Diner Review №42

Food was good but the service is very bad . I will only recommend takeout the place is not for dine in .This was very rude. We actually went with family for dinner at 7:30 and they served the food packed as if it was takeout. If they where closing they could tell us before taking order. When I asked the server she said we are closing soon and everyone is getting ready to leave .And they gave paper plates and when asked for spoons the server asked me to take plastic spoons from the dispenser. They even asked me to do the payment before having the food which is not the case in a dine in restaurant.

Diner Review №43

I'm little disappointed on the flavor. I was expecting Thai flavor but taste more like Chinese. But the size portions are big.

Diner Review №44

Food is delicious! Service was fast. Large portions.

Diner Review №45

Pad Thai is the best in Baton Rouge. Never disappoints and the portions are right on

Diner Review №46

Woman owned business with excellent food. The employees are always friendly, & it's obvious that they take pride in their craft. You know it's good when there's a line out the door on a Wednesday afternoon. Everything has always been fresh & absolutely delicious. Best crab rangoons, pad thai, & fried rice in town by far. Easily my favorite lunch spot in BR!

Diner Review №47

Exceptional experience at this Thai restaurant! From the moment we walked in, the service was top-notch. The food was cooked to perfection, bursting with authentic flavors. Highly recommend for anyone craving delicious Thai cuisine! Ordered the Pad See Eew with chicken (mild) and it was great.

Diner Review №48

Drunken noodles were amazing! Asked for medium heat and that was good enough for me. Service was extremely friendly. This is going into the regular rotation for sure.

Diner Review №49

Best thai food I have ever eaten and very short wait time. Definitely recommend.

Diner Review №50

Khao soi is 12/10. Highly recommend.

Diner Review №51

I’ll preface this by saying that the food is absolutely delicious! But I was explicitly told that many options can be made vegan. I’ve ordered from here at least 4 times, and the last time I asked for “vegan pad Thai”, I was told that it was not possible to be made vegan. Very disappointing to have been lied to.

Diner Review №54

Everything was just perfect! Ordered the Pad Woon Sen (Thai glass noodles) with chicken, Thai pork egg rolls and a Thai Tea. Delicious! And then to find out its a woman owned mother - daughter duo, that just made my day! I will definitely spread the word

Diner Review №55

Best chicken Pad Thai in Baton Rouge. Order it hot!

Chai Thai Lao

8733 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA 70809

It's not often that I eat Thai food since I don't usually crave it. I can admit, though, in my own opinion that Chai Thai Lao has the best Thai food in Baton Rouge. Even the owners are top-notch in caring about the customers along with their impeccable service.
From beginning to end, everything we've ordered was just mind blown. Expect to see me back here!

1. Thai tea and Green Tea (limited item)
2. Chicken wings (favorite)
3. Medium spice Level papaya salad
4. Beef and chicken medium spice level larb (favorite)
5. Medium spice level chicken pad thai.
6. Mango sticky rice (dessert)

Delicious! I will be back.

Diner Review №58

My new favorite place!

Diner Review №59

Tonight was my first time trying Thai food. I really enjoyed the crab rangoon. It just melts in your mouth 🤤. The pepper steak was tender with crisp veggies and everything was so flavorful. I loved the little containers of chili products next to the fountain drinks 🤭. It was such a cozy spot. You pay at the counter before you eat and don’t have to wait for a waiter. The service was spot on and the food is served in to-go containers. So if you don’t finish it (bc it is a lot of food) it’s easy to take home. The food was freshly cooked and there wasn’t a long wait time. I can’t wait to try some of the other things on the menu. 😊

Diner Review №60

delicious!!!

Diner Review №61

Very good food, I am happier to order and take it home, very tasty Thai "hot spicy" is not too hot but is very tasty.

Diner Review №62

This is a restaurant that I crave often ever since they’ve opened. It’s my number one thai place in Baton Rouge.

Diner Review №63

Food was ridiculously overpriced and we paid and tipped before eating. My girlfriend ordered the Thai noodles and it came out in a to go box, the food was mid, and the lid didn't even fit my drink cup! We also had to serve our own drinks and grab our utensils ourselves. STAY AWAY

Diner Review №64

First time trying this place today. We ordered the basil stir fry and the pad woon sen for takeout. Both were great! Taste was awesome and the takeout was warm and stayed warm for a while. The glass noodles were awesome. Loved the spice in both dishes. The veggie egg rolls were perfect too! So crispy and thin layered. Highly recommend this place. We’ll definitely go for dine in soon.

Diner Review №65

Best Thai food I've had in Baton Rouge in years. I hear the owner used to have the place at Florida and Ardenwood. Was tasting and loving it for several hours. Got Hot (not Thai Hot) curry and it was awesome but HOT!

Diner Review №69

I ordered medium heat drunken noodles and tom yum soup with an order of pork egg rolls. My meal was delicious, hot, and perfectly spicy. Too damn good !!

Diner Review №70

If all Thai food places in Baton Rouge were like this, it would be hard to decide where to eat. My family loves this place and are willing to drive from Ascension for the quality. And just in case the grandma starts giving cooking lessons, let me know. I'm coming.

This restaurant is absolutely delicious. I highly recommend if you like Thai.

Diner Review №84

Diner Review №85

This is the best Thai food we’ve had in BR. I know we have our old standbys—Thai Pepper being one, and yes it’s delicious. CTL offers traditional fair, but it tastes incredibly fresh. The servings are substantial and it does have the feel that you are getting street food in a traditional Thai market. The fluorescent lights are super super bright, but the space was packed. They seem to do a huge takeout service, and it was crazy busy an hour before close on a Friday night. It only took about 45 minutes for our food, and it was well worth the wait.

We had Pork Pad Thai, Pad See Ewe/drunken noodles, AND the crab rangoons. Easily the best rangoons we ever had. Yum!

Diner Review №86

Best rice noodles I have ever had. Pad See Ew and Drunken Noodles are to die for.

Diner Review №87

This is a small but busy Thai-Lao cuisine focused restaurant with amazing food! Great options with a decent range in spice level. There is no shying away in food quantity when you order - I can make most meals last two servings. Few tables for dine in but also a great option for takeout. Service is very friendly and looking to please. Definitely going to become a pretty routine place to eat for me!!

Diner Review №88

Absolutely some of the best Thai food I've ever had. I had the Pad See Ew and it was delicious, the noodles were just fantastic and the sauce and chicken were delicious. The entrees are definitely large enough for at least two meals too.

The interior of the restaurant is your typical stripmall restaurant, but it's easy to order to go and take home, which is what I did.

Diner Review №89

So awesome! I lived in Thailand for many years and this is the most authentic Thai food I have had in America. The workers are extremely kind hearted.

Diner Review №90

I love thai food. It was freshly cooked and on point. I will definitely return. It is a hidden jewel.

Diner Review №91

Diner Review №92

Diner Review №93

Glass noodles are the best in town.

Diner Review №94

Diner Review №95

This is a cute restaurant and I can't wait to go back!

I tried the Massaman Curry and it was delicious. It is pretty sweet because of the coconut, so it may not be for you if you don't like sweet things. I got the hottest flavor, which isn't that hot, but they do have extra chili flakes available.

Their thai tea is also pretty good! It's also extremely sweet, so I personally had to dilute it with water.

I also tried the appetizer sampler (Chai's Starter), which was great. Their egg rolls, rangoon, and chicken are definitely worth a try.

The people who work here are nice and they serve their food in to-go containers so you can easily leave when ready.

Diner Review №96

Group of 7, ordered Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, Red Curry, Green Curry, Yellow Curry, Spring rolls, Roasted Cauliflower and Sticky Rice with Mango to culminate the spectacular experience. Each dish was distinctly different and exemplary in its own way. Will be back again for sure!!!!

Diner Review №97

We ordered crab Rangoon, yellow curry with shrimp, masaman curry with beef and mango sticky rice. All of it was extremely delicious! We ordered the curries medium and they were pretty spicy. The crab Rangoon is by far the best in Baton Rouge and possibly the best we've had. We will definitely be back!

Diner Review №98

This is really really good food. I recommend you come and give it a try. Nice feel down to earth definitely come back here again Michael & Diana.

Diner Review №99

The chicken pad thai would be better if it is not very sweet and
the Pad Kee Mao with beef is not very oily.

Diner Review №100

Diner Review №101

I really enjoyed my my food from this place. I've been here three times and each time I find something new that I love! So far, my favorites are the thai chicken wings, and the pad woon Sen noodles. I especially like these noodles because they are glass noodles and can be considered low carb for people the might have dietary restrictions. The crab Rangoon is delicious also. They are very reasonably prices and give large portions for the entrees and rice and noodle dishes, however, I do find that their starters/appetizers are a bit pricey and and really small portions for the price. Also, you can ask for glass noodles as a replacement to and dish that comes with rice noodles to make it be lower carb if you're a person like me that watches your carb intake, and I absolutely love that! Also, i like that the food isn't over seasoned, it's always just the perfect amount of sauce and season and it is never overpowering in taste. They are definitely worth checking out!

Diner Review №102

If you want authentic Thai served by some of the hardest workers in the area, then RUN, don't walk, to this joint. The inside is on the smaller size and is perfect for an impromptu date night. If you ordering for a bigger party, you'll probably want to order to-go. The Mother-Daughter duo that runs this joint impress the hell out of me. The menu is limited, but I think that is by design. This place serves quality rather quantity. PLEASE give them your business.

Diner Review №103

Diner Review №104

Great Thai food.

Diner Review №105

I’ve been a few times and the food is great. However, I have to agree with the post that discusses concerns with the serving of the food i.e., in styrofoam and on aluminum foil. The styrofoam completely melted on my last to-go pick up. I also had a piece of aluminum foil in my food and besides that the leaching of those materials from a chemical standpoint is definitely a concern. I would say just dine-in from now on but from what I’ve read, they use the same styrofoam and aluminum foil process for that too. Overall, the food is great but they need to package it for customers in a better way. Especially for dine-in - I mean it’s not only bad materials but it’s so wasteful and certainly not environmentally friendly. I suggest getting real plates/glassware etc. for your dine-customers. As for to-go orders - BPA free plastic might be the lesser of the two evils. Hope to see some of these changes because the food really is awesome!

Diner Review №108

Food is great, very well seasoned and great portion sizes.

Diner Review №109

Y’all, the food is so good! I’ve been twice and both times the food was amazing. It’s always piping hot and fresh. Oh, and the portion sizes are large! They also have the best egg rolls I’ve ever tasted!

Diner Review №110

Upon entrance (our 1st visit) Kit gave my friend and I a warm, welcoming smile. Kit was patient, provided clear answers to our questions. The kitchen was clean, the food was delicious, the service was pleasant. This place is small; yet with a nice charm. We are looking forward to returning soon 😀

Diner Review №111

Delicious! What a gem in BR. Got the pad Thai and drunken noodles and egg rolls…all were amazing and prepared perfectly.

Diner Review №112

All the food we had was very good.

Diner Review №113

The food is very good.

Diner Review №114

Great tasting food and generous portion sizes!

Diner Review №115

Small place but good food, prices are decent, and people are nice.

Diner Review №116

Best Thai you’ll get in BR. It’s got the spice, the home style cooking, and the best Thai tea you’ll get out here. The owners are so extremely kind and caring, they treat you like family coming over to eat. Please support this place and give it a try im a harsh critic of Thai food and this place has my approval… which only means something to me but just take my word and try these ladies cooking. If you e never ordered Thai before go with a classic order of chicken pad Thai, mild spice, and a tea. And trust me, if you really like spicy food they will help you out generously with the Thai hot option hahahaha

Diner Review №117

Diner Review №118

Very impress with the shrimp Pad Thai, spring rolls and Thai tea. Food was hot and hit the spot. Definitely a contender with my other favorite Thai restaurant in the area. 😀

Diner Review №119

Diner Review №120

Best Thai food I’ve tasted in my life staff very friendly

Diner Review №121

It was a very cool dining experience for me personally.

I’m Thai-American, but born and raised in Louisiana, and I’m still learning to cook Thai food. I ordered the papaya salad and pad see ew, and I ordered it at level 3 hot because I can’t handle Thai hot like my family does.

I enjoyed the Thai tea a lot. It is sweet but I like it that way. People complained in their reviews that the food being put in to-go boxes took away from dining experience, but that is how street food is sold in when you go to Thailand. If you want the real experience, the drinks would be served in bags.

When you walk in, you see an open kitchen and you order at the counter. I found this experience to be efficient. Enjoy your food and take it home if you need to. You don’t have to worry about flagging down a server.

The portions are huge and fresh!

Diner Review №122

Absolutely love it!

Diner Review №123

First time trying them. Always wanted to but never had time. My daughter ordered togo 3 main dishes that Thai Cuisine is known for which I usually get from other Thai places. It was really good!
Warning: : Their spice level isn’t to be played around with. When they say “hot” it’s HOT so don’t go to the extreme if you don’t have high spice tolerance 🥵

Diner Review №124

Fantastic Thai options, you have to try the pad thai, always hot and enough food for at least (2) additional meals.

Diner Review №125

Good food & friendly service

Diner Review №126

This place is awesome. Best Pad Thai in BR.

Diner Review №127

Great food and friendly staff! Fresh, hot, great portion sizes and truly authentic! I tried the pepper steak with beef, Jasmin rice, and veggie egg rolls. I will def be back to try more items on the menus.

Diner Review №128

Tried Chai Thai-Lao out tonight. Food was very tasty - khao soi was the right mix of sweet and spicy. As others have noted, order up a spice level. We did have to wait about 50 minutes for our food, but the server at the counter was up front about the wait time. Will definitely be back.

Diner Review №129

Wait time was long (about 30 min for two entrees) because of the grand opening and being slammed but boy oh boy food was delicious. Best crab ragoons and red curry I have had in a really long time! Highly recommend!

Diner Review №130

I felt I was not giving the same treatment as other people who entered the restaurant. I felt ignored and not regonzied as a guest in the facility on my 1st visit , but the food was great. Customer service no matter what gender, race or cutltural background should not determine on how you greet a potential customer.

Diner Review №131

So disappointed. We went for their grand opening and I had high hopes. Coming from a Thai background myself, I was excited to have another option close to us and especially one from a mother-daughter duo. I really wanted an authentic place to become a regular at when I don't feel like cooking at home.

They have a LONG way to go to figure out their business. Lots of kinks to work out. Their ordering system is awkward, not enough menus, and staff did not inform customers well of the number system or what was going on. The food took almost an hour and a half to get. Thankfully it was packed to go so we could just leave. Definitely don't go and wait with your small children.

Both entrees we ordered were to be medium spicy. Both were beyond bland. The sauce for the egg rolls was the tastiest part of our meal. Thai food is supposed to be flavorful and a lot of the time have a kick to it, where you want to be cautious of how you order. I'm afraid of what it would have been like if we ordered the mild.

Also it appeared that there was favoritism to friends of the staff in receiving their food or "getting hooked up" so to speak. Which is frustrating when you're just waiting there.

Diner Review №132

Great family environment with tasty food.. I recommend everyone to check it out!!

Diner Review №133

Pretty good place that is just getting started January 2023, and I suspect it will improve as time goes on. They were crazy busy but still were courteous and were working hard. Food: I have my favorite options at different Thai places I visit. Here for example, the Tom Kha soup is better than the Tom Yum for me. The spicy (heat) factor is milder than many Thai places, so order up a level. Eggrolls were great. I liked their rice dishes, but wished for more seasoning on day one... rice dish leftovers absorbed spices and tasted more to what I was expecting. Pad Thai was pretty solid (I'd recommend medium or hot); they cook the beansprouts without my asking which is the way I like it.

Diner Review №134

Amazing! So good!

Diner Review №135

Without a doubt, this place will be a shining star in the Baton Rouge food scene, but it’s got a way to go. The food that was available today was outstanding - best Pad Thai I’ve had since moving to Louisiana! I understand being new, so nothing bad to say about menu items not being available. The service was confusing as they were calling out ready orders by number, but we were never provided with a number. My biggest complaint, resulting in a low rating, was the ubiquitous use of single-use plastics and styrofoam - even for dine-in customers. There’s no excuse for this and we won’t be returning until it is rectified.

Diner Review №136

Best Thai I’ve ever eaten. Not a bad meal on the menu. Pad Thai Chicken is amazing.

Diner Review №137

Really great flavors! They are still getting into the groove of things but I expect this to be a regular haunt for me.

Diner Review №138

Delicious and fresh. Staff friendly and service quick. We’ll be back.

Diner Review №139

Located this new restaurant through Google maps because my usual Thai restaurant (Thai Pepper) wouldn't be open for another 2 hours.
This place just opened yesterday. Ordered yellow curry with chicken and asked for extra vegetables. It was DELICIOUS!!!!!? Also got an order of pork Thai egg rolls, they were yummy too. The place is brand new and very clean. I took my meal as take out to eat at home, but they do have new clean tables if you want to eat in, very low key like many strip mall restaurants but tastefully decorated and spotless. The cook and cashier were extremely friendly and helpful in my selection. Can't recommend this place enough.

Diner Review №140

Love the yellow curry there and the chicken wings 10/10 recommend going there!!

Diner Review №141

Great food in a great atmosphere. The people there are also very friendly.

Diner Review №142

The best Thai food in Louisiana. Love everything we have had so far. ❤️
