one of my new favorite restaurants! this place is absolutely amazing. i’ve had nothing but great service and fresh tasty food. i wish i could eat here every day lol. the spring rolls & pad see iew are my favorites. they separated the elements of the mango sticky rice which makes it difficult to eat but still tasted good! also the shrimp dumplings are TINY. will definitely be back soon :))
I have been getting food from here for years. I got home with my take-out , and the curry to-go cups are barely over half full (one worse than the other). I called the restaurant, and they wanted to argue with me about it. Their only solution was for me to drive back across town and they would give me a little more curry. What a joke. I love their food, but seems like they are trying to skimp on their portions. Not making me want to keep being a loyal customer!
Honestly I am very disappointed of this place , been ordering from them for last 20 years , when they were small store across the street the food was amazing, their mom use to cook and she was the best , since than it’s just been going downhill…their chicken and beef PATTIE is absolutely garbage, the meat is so bad, absolutely zero seasoning and flavor. They have lost their love and passion and just worry about feeling their pockets with profit, It’s like they don’t care anymore… very disappointed this restaurant use to be my favorite spot.
You Simply can't go wrong choosing Simply Thai for a deliciously satisfying meal! The fried tofu was crispy on the outside and silky on the inside. Likewise, the stuffed banana pepper and Shrimp Pad Thai were very good. The highlight of the meal was the shrimp bomb, which had a spicy/sweet drizzle on it that was incredible, and a creamy Thai tea! Delicious!!
This is 1 off my favorites restaurant. Nice ambience low lighting and soothing. The workers were nice and helpful. The food is excellent very delicious. If you love spicy food like I do. Well my friends I suggest you get the Loaded Fried Rice with level 4 heat🥵🥵🥵 or you may want to try the Pineapple Fried Rice.
food was good. Our waiter was horrendous., he took our drink order (not knowing what was on tap or offering to find out) then disappeared. Another waiter brought our drinks had to ask another waiterss after being there 20 minutes to get our waiter which she could not find so she took our order. Finally got our food after 1 hour. Such a disappointment. BTW this was on a Thursday and they were not that busy.
The egg rolls were the star. 4 eggrolls cut in half with mango sauce, piping hot. My husband wanted some chili sauce for them, but our server disappeared. Our server recommended the basil fried rice. It came with no basil leaves, they use a seasoning, and it doesn't taste like basil, more like red bell peppers. We had to ask another server to send our server, for a togo box and the check. Their Togo boxes are nice, not Styrofoam.
Great food and even better service by Edward! Compliments to the chef Daniel as well. Definitely coming back
I love the pineapple curry--all the curries are so good!
The pineapple fried rice and pad thai were good. The service was also amazing!
Food was great!
Update: this used my favorite Thai restaurant in Louisville, but the service and food quality have taken a nose dive (the atmosphere has always been lacking). The pad Thai I got tonight was bland, dry and somehow crumbly. Such a disappointment.
Great food and friendly staff. The Pad Thai is quite tasty.
Hands down favorite restaurant in Louisville. The food is so freaking good and the staff is so friendly. Love this place!!
The tofu pad Thai was delicious.
I have been coming to this location for over a year, about twice a month or so always takeout. The last two times I’ve had a significant drop in quality in my food. The first time my pad Thai had maybe a tablespoon of pad Thai sauce and so most of the dish was plain noodles. The second time, my pad kee mow had severely overcooked noodles, to the point that they were very mushy and would not stand up to being forked without falling apart. I hope that this doesn’t continue because I cannot justify spending money on food that is going to be disappointing.
This WAS my favorite restaurant
Unfortunately today has ruined it for me for good. The past three times we have dined in simply Thai the service has become worse and worse. We came to Wallace ave location today, ordered around 1215/1220… appetizers and entrees as well two drinks. A table was seated next to use around 1225..After sitting until 1230 we got appetizers… we needed refills so my husband is mid sentence with our waitress when she completely turns her back and tends to the need of some one requesting a to go box. At 120pm the waitress brings our food… IN TO GO BOXES, bagged up and tied. Then asking us “didn’t you guys get your food to go?” NO… and we don’t have a drop in our glasses either. I then ask for the check because at this point we’d waited an hour and we are starving. And our food was all boxed up. Still unsure why that happened… the waitress disappears doesn’t return. We take boxes up food to front I ask for a manager. The young man says ok hold on goes in back then returns and says,” ummm we don’t have ems manager here.” So I proceed to explain the experience we just had.. he then says oh well I can call a manager on a phone and let you talk to them.” I said no this isn’t something I care to chat over a phone call with I just want to pay and leave now because we’re hungry. he then asks for our check.. I laughed and said ok as I explained we do not have a check the waitress didn’t return with one and this is what she gave us in these boxes. It was like we were in twilight zone and no one could understand what just happened. After debating the situation my husband was so upset he said just keep the food we’re done here and we left. The waitress never offered an excuse as to why she turned her back on us mid speaking, why our food was boxed to go when we were CLEARLY already dining in… as evidence by us eating appetizers in addition no excuse as to why no refills, no excuse as to why others who came after us got their meals, no excuse as to why we sat for an hour without our order. Very very poor service we will NOT return nor do we recommend. This is not the third occurrence the service all out sucked.
What has happened to this place? It used to be so good but now it feels like quantity over quality is the priority. Food has barely any flavor and feels like there’s been no effort put into it.
Always good
A little price for my taste. But overall pretty good
This place is delicious.
Period.
Always a great experience, read the reviews because this place deserves better than a 4.4
One person gave a 1 star because her spring roll wasn’t fried. If you think SPRING rolls are fried you should probably eat somewhere else anyway. Another person rated them with a 1 while giving a Shoney’s and a Culver’s a 5 star review. I saw someone say they gave a 4 while citing their potatoes weren’t deskinned. It’s skinned, you absolute knob, and the skins contain the most nutrients in a potato. So many people only leave reviews so they can complain about restaurants, well maybe we should try complaining about the nonces who are leaving nonsensical reviews for no good reason.
It’s laughable but also too bad because Simply Thai from customizable levels of spice, fresh bamboo shoots in curry and a consistent and timely staff this is my favorite Thai restaurant in Louisville.
Food was fine, service was wack. Very busy tho.
A little pricey, but the food was exceptional, our waiter was too, 1st time there !
I love Simply Thai with all of my heart. The food is delicious and the shrimp dumplings are to die for. My only complaint (jk) is that I can't get more shrimp dumplings..... what if I wanna eat like 20? 😭
The service is great and the waiters check on your table often with friendliness. 10/10, I'm craving pad thai rn
Pad Thai is amazing, and yes the ginger salad is worth 7 dollars :)
The Pad Thai and Basil Chicken were good, the Thai Coffee and our server were great!!!
Food is delicious, service is great!
Great service and food
Pad thai was kind of plain, sushi was very good.
Recommended! Food was great and plenty of it!
I have gone here once, the pad thai (I think that's what it is called) definitely scratched my Thai food itch I've had since I got to Louisville~
The Chicken Pad Thai is Awesome!!!
I have been getting food from here for years. I got home with my take-out , and the curry to-go cups are barely over half full (one worse than the other). I called the restaurant, and they wanted to argue with me about it. Their only solution was for me to drive back across town and they would give me a little more curry. What a joke. visited here many years ago & loved it. came back in town to eat there again and it was a little different. they were very skimpy with my rice & I did not get full.. the spring rolls use to be small & fried..now they're wrapped in clear plastic & cold & taste like a mint leaf was in it.. 😡🤯🥴🤢 I was not expecting that. at least they didn't charge me for it.
We were there at lunch. Restaurant is small and basic, but food is excellent. Service was fair and friendly.
Love this place! Great food. Friendly service.
I'm so torn because this place has my favorite pad thai ever... I bought myself some for delivery yesterday as a treat since I'm sick and didn't want to leave the house...
I've eaten this meal so many times and it's always been really good, but this time it looks and tastes like there's no sauce in it, it has no flavor... I called and asked if they could have messed up the order, and they said no, and that I had to contact doordash for a refund. But doordash told me that I had to contact the restaurant...
I really just wanted my food... I have some anxiety about asking for anything else since they sounded like they were annoyed with me, but I don't have much money and I can't afford to waste it on something that I have to throw away... I tried to eat it, but it tastes awful... :(
I might give up my pad thai after this, I dunno...
Simply delicious
Quick, easy, high quality. Wish we had one in Indy.
Amazing food for dine in or take out! Love the drunken noodles for some spice.
Excellent Place and Food!
As always, great food!!
Great food I have ate at both locations now
Excellent food, but I am sick and tired of that same waitress we get every damn time. she is so lazy! Never again l!
Everything was good that we ordered. Pad Thai was great and would recommend.
Excellent food, but on the pricy side. Wait times are grossly under-estimated and parking is horrible on weekends.
It took many times circling the parking lot before I finally gave up and parked pretty far away (it was raining).
Then I waited an extra 45mins beyond the estimate originally provided for my carry out dinner order.
When I got home, one appetizer was left out. I had been through so much frustration for this dinner, that I just gave up.
The food tastes great, but these issues have caused me to put this on the low-frequency list for dinner options.
Not very Thai...none of that lime/Lemongrass flavor..Soup cold... not bad..but wouldn't recommend
My first visit and I'll definitely be going back. Spring rolls were great.
Eaten here several times. Food is always excellent. Unfortunately service sucks. We always get the same lousy server back by the booths. No water refills. Have to repeat requests. She works with zero sense of urgency. Next time we will request to sit in a different section.
Outstanding food and service, it was a great meal all around.
Ordered food at 1:28pm for delivery. No word or response so I called and spoke with employee at 2:20pm. He read my order back to me and said all was good. Still have not received food or verification for delivery and it’s 3:15 pm. Called the store and there is no response it just rings. My card has been charged, email verifications and screenshots available. We are nurses at UofL and have a narrow window to eat. Someone please respond
Food quality is consistent. You won’t find better Thai food than you do here.
Excelent authentic thai food!!!!
Tom yum was right on the money !! Tempura has a thicker outer coating that you generally see, could have been better !!! Thai red curry was again perfect !!! Definitely going back there !!!
My Favorite new place to eat.. Fire Fire Fire... So So Good!!!
I tried 8 different dishes ( true story) and loved 7 of the 8. Pretty sure I'll be back again later this week, but this place is 🤌🏾
I've been here numerous times, and have always had timely service. The food is amazing, and I like their heat system that allows you to choose how spicy you want your food.
If I could have give negative stars I would. To start, our party of 4 waited in the waiting room for 30+ minutes while I could see many open tables in the dining area. After we finally got seated, we were not greeted with a waitress for another 30 minutes. The food took forever to come out and we were not checked back in on for refills etc.
I would highly recommend not eating at this establishment unless you like wasting time.
I will NEVER return to this restaurant and highly advise not eating here ever.
If you like Thai food you will love this place
The food was worth the wait. Service was friendly but slow.
Our server was excellent and our food was good.
I was greeted with a smile and kind words! Restaurant was clean, my food is hot and it was ready within 15 minutes!
We showed up at 11:15 on a Friday afternoon and no one was at the front counter. After waiting 10 minutes to be seated, I called out. An employee looked right at me & just kept chatting in the back. After 15 minutes without being acknowledged, we left. There were no other customers in the building so it wasn't a matter of them being busy.
Pad Thai was on point, wife's Thai eggplant had amazing flavor. Nice staff and decor. Will return
This is one of my all time favorite local restaurants. Side note if you don't want spicy food you can ask for the spiciness to be 0. 3 three will clear your sinuses if you have a cold.
Extremely unprofessional and rude hostesses
party of five tonight. spring rolls, curry puffs and thai meatballs to start. all fresh ingredients, freshly prepared. awesome. entrees were of rice and noodles. a little extra spicy on the heat scale tonight, but like the apps, entrees fresh, hot and delicious. still among the best thai places i’ve ever been. only knock is the service can be a little slow. but i’ll trade it for the quality.
Great flavor and options but I always feel like the meat portions are lacking.
Great food
I love this place, but recently, the spice level has been way different. Way spicier than it used to be. My husband got a 3, and I got a 1, but we received 2 containers marked 1. I tasted both and couldn’t tell the difference; both seemed like a 3 to me. Please pay more attention to the pice level and the orders so that I can actually enjoy the food!
Food is good, but it could use a little more substance, a bit more to the red curry would help. Service was a little distracted, busy but a little ADD it seemed. Otherwise, no complaints. Could also use some updating in the decor and new seats in the booths, worn out cushioning!!!
Try District 6 just a couple of blocks away. District 6 actually stays open as long as they advertise for. Don't go to Simply Thai in the evening. They won't seat you even though they advertise they are open until 9:30 p.m.
I wish I could leave zero stars. We received a pickup order that was supposed to be mild, but was so hot nobody could eat the dish. We then doordashed a separate order and they gave us the complete wrong order. Very disappointed, not like it used to be.
They have the best pineapple curry. I get mine with chicken and it just melts in your mouth. The sushi tastes great too. You will definitely have left overs and it's just as good the next day. I highly recommend this place.
The food was good and our waiter was great but the restaurant appears to be poorly managed. Our appetizers and our mains took a long time to come out. Since the food took so long to come out, by the time we ordered dessert, they said that the kitchen had already closed just 5 mins prior. They could have at least informed us that the kitchen will be closing and asked for any last orders including dessert. Also, they could have easily served us the simple dessert even though the kitchen was already closed as a good will gesture. Finally while we were just finishing up our meal, the lights started to go on bright and they were starting to clean, vacuum cleaner and all. All these things made for an unpleasant dining experience.
Sorry to tell the truth that the foods here in Kentucky never taste like Thai food. It's only made for only American taste. Thai food in ILLINOIS are more Authentic.
Disappointed I was traveling north to south and am great lover of thai food.
Service was poor, asked for water that had something like left over in glass, food is real Disappointed.
It's a great location though to hangout in that neighborhood. Wish it improves
Best Thai food in the town. Can’t describe, go there and find out on your own, I am sure you won’t be disappointed.
Staff graciously solved a snag with a to go order. GRACIOUSLY!!!
Thai food and you pick the spice level you wish. Great food every time. Still satisfied!
Not as good as it used to be. I used to really love eating here back when I used to live in St. Matthew's. Food was average. Unsure if I would eat here again.
From the moment you step into Simply Thai, you are transported to a world of culinary delight that is steeped in tradition and authenticity. Serving patrons since 2006, this restaurant has carved a niche for itself in the local food scene, offering a tantalizing array of Thai food and sushi that is as pleasing to the palate as it is to the eye.
The menu at Simply Thai is a testament to their commitment to quality and authenticity. Each dish is made from scratch and made to order, ensuring that every bite is as fresh and flavorful as possible. The restaurant's ability to customize most of their dishes to be gluten-free, vegetarian, or vegan is a testament to their commitment to cater to a diverse range of dietary preferences, making it a haven for food lovers of all types.
The Pineapple Fried Rice is a standout dish, a delightful medley of sweet, tangy pineapple and perfectly cooked rice, punctuated with bursts of flavor from the various herbs and spices. It's a dish that is both comforting and exciting, a testament to the skill and creativity of the chefs.
The Chicken Pad Thai is another must-try. This classic Thai dish is executed flawlessly at Simply Thai, with the perfect balance of sweet, sour, and salty flavors. The noodles are cooked to perfection, the chicken is tender and flavorful, and the peanuts add a delightful crunch. For those who like a bit of heat, ordering a level 5 spice takes this dish to a whole new level, adding a fiery kick that complements the other flavors beautifully.
In conclusion, Simply Thai is more than just a restaurant - it's a culinary experience. The food is authentic, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Whether you're a fan of Thai food or just a food lover in general, Simply Thai is a place that is sure to impress.
always great food here
We loved it!
Good place to eat!!
Very nice atmosphere and prompt service. All in my group were thrilled by the quality of the food
Had lunch with friends. The pad kee pow was a bit too spicy. Ordered it with no spice and asked server to make sure but still had peppers. So be careful with the spice.
Great Thai food
Simply Thai has high quality Thai food and sushi with reasonable prices. From the blacked out windows outside you can barely tell there’s a quaint, quiet, family friendly restaurant inside. They have high tops, tables, and booths. The Pad Thai, Basil Fried Rice, and all the sushi we’ve tried were top notch.
My first visit and the Pineapple Chicken was flavorful and fresh!!! Definitely recommend!
Took a couple first timers here. They enjoyed. I give 4 stars on atmosphere only because it was a full house so a little noisy at 7pm on Thunder Day! but the place cleared after a bit and we could hear each other better!
Ordered sushi and shrimp lemon rice, loved it!
Great food great customer service!
Always delightful
I had the massaman curry which was delicious! I also enjoyed some hot jasmine tea in a really cool heavy metal tea pot. What was amazing was the service! I was visiting from out of town and actually got locked out of where I'm staying and then left my debit card at Simpli Thai. They called me right away to give me my card. The two young women who helped me were so very sweet!! thank you sooo much!
Very tasty Thai food. Happy we found this place. Really enjoyed the egg roles and tofu pad thai dish.
The absolute slowest take out in the city. Get a good 3 hour movie to watch on your phone. This place is embarrassingly slow and it's not even prime time
All the family enjoyed it!
Delicious! They've been known as the best Thai in town for years, and for good reason. Always a wonderful treat. And they have gluten free options!
I love the food here. The noodle dishes and the curries are brilliant.
We like it.
Skimpy cocktail, cold soup, pai thai that resembles ground. Bad place.
Great Thai food and good service. I haven't ever been disappointed in either.
Simply the best Thai restaurant in town, no exaggeration
The food here is very good - the chicken Pad Thai on spice level two is really fantastic. The prices are reasonable. The reason I'm not giving it five stars is because the food takes a really long time to come out. We even heard other tables complaining about it. Besides that, the restaurant was freezing cold the last time we were in there, and nearly everyone was eating with their winter coats on. However, I can't deny it's good food, and the people there are friendly. They just have some things to work out.
Absolutely love this place for Thai but holy heck do the cater to white people for their spice levels. They offer 1-5 (5 being max spice) and I ordered my Pad Thai lvl4. Not even a runny nose, barely a tingle in the mouth. If you're used to asian/thai spices, order a 5+.
Wonderful food 😋
Very disappointing service lately. Been a loyal patron since the day they opened across the street almost 17 years ago. Every other carry out order has been a total disaster. Ive driven back and forth on multiple occasions to exchange food without any sort of credit or discount for the inconvenience. Management is incredibly rude, a total joke. Make sure to check your receipt and taste all your food before you leave with your carry out order in accordance with their return policy.
Take your business around the corner to to District 6.
I was doing improvements on that property
Amazing food! I miss it and can't wait to go back. Our waiter was also awesome, super knowledgeable and very friendly. Amazing visit and plan to go back whenever possible. ❤
Simply Thai was an excellent experience. This was my first time in the space since the pandemic and the menu has been updated and it’s a lot more extensive. You’ve got a great cocktail list. You can also make your own mule. There’s plenty of appetizers and wonderful entrées and the format of the menu really helps you lay out what your options are. The end of the menu also contains sushi which might also be a great option for our entrées. We got the green curry fried rice, red curry, and pad ke meow. Our food was delicious. Everything had a great spice level, and the combination of flavors was so well done. Our service was excellent. It was overall a great experience, and it reminded me of why simply Thai has been on the top of so many best of lists.
Wow a fantastic place. On a Wednesday I did not think it would be that busy, but even with that we got seated quickly and oír service was flawless.
Plenty of choice to eat and all with a great strong flavor and a level of spice that was perfect. You choose from 1-5 how spicy, a 3 was not spicy.
Great portion and price value. Excellent neighborhood and parking could get busy in the area on a busier night for all business there.
The Bourbon selection is large. Great place.
Really good sushi
Always a hit.
I can't eat here anough. Recommend Everything.
This is our go-to Thai restaurant in town. The spring rolls are our favorite appetizer and for our entree we usually get pad kee mow or pad thai. For a drink, I would get the thai tea.
Simply Thai has been a local staple for many years now. The food is fabulous. Try the Spiced Shrimp or the Mango Salmon. My only complaint is they don't make batches of sweet tea. The servers are usually happy to make it for you though. ;)
The food is delicious! I recommend the Thai Tea or having a special cocktail. The Crispy Garlic Tilapia and the Mango Salmon are amazing. If you don’t like seafood you should try the pineapple curry!
Wonderful meals. Good service, no wonder they have a walk full of awards!
