Thank you for hosting our group of 7 people tonight. There was a nice variety of meal options
and reasonable pricing. The food was flavorable and nice portions.
We will definitely visit your restaurant in the future.
Review: Food and service was amazing! The food was tasty and the owner was super nice. I have a 4 star review because of how difficult it was to find and not having a changing table. If you have young children with diapers they didn’t have a changing table heads up!
We had two Panang curry (coconut chicken with red curry), a taro bubble tea, and mango bubble tea.
Directions: Go to walnut street and enter the public entrance of HotelKirkwood and up the stairs. Once you’re up the stairs, make a left and it’s right there! If you need handicap or stroller accessibility, enter capitol building across the street, take the elevators, and then the skywalk across to get to JJs.
This was our first time here and ordered Thom yum soup. Asked about size and was told personal size. Turns out, their personal size is a full quart. Along with our entrees there is no way we could each consome a full quart of soup. When it was brought to their attention the cashier said it was her fault but no attempt to remedy the situation was made. Upon looking at the receipt I see it was $16.00 each!!! Yep! We got twice as much as we wanted and were charged a LOT. We will not return to be overcharged again. While the soup was ok, it was not the flavor profile to which we are accustomed, having never had it with green pepper. I specifically asked for my entree sans green pepper so to find so much in the soup was disappointing.
We are visiting Des Moines from far away, and we’ve had Thai food in many many cities…
We were not let down, amazing service and generous portions. We will come back anytime we are in Des Moines. We had the Pad See Ew and the pad Thai with chicken!

Got some tofu & drunken noodles with a Thai tea. Was really good.

Best Thai food in Des Moines!
A Little priceyVery good food though
Best Thai place I've ever been to! Can not recommend it enough! Authentic and consistently great. Looking forward to my next visit.

Great Thai, only wish there were more
Locations!!! Staff is very nice and several options to choose from!
For a very small space, this restaurant hosted our very large group from out of town with kindness and grace. They opened the kitchen just for us and served us delectable food. Thank you to all of the workers for welcoming us like you did and I will certainly return the next time I’m in Des Moines.
I’ll have to come back and try again.
I ordered a plate of orange chicken and it was not what I was expecting. It tasted like frozen chicken nuggets covered in orange sauce. It could have been more original. I probably would not come again.

Always great food!
We had a great lunch with spot on spice level as requested! Staff were all very helpful and efficient. Highly recommend!
A personal favorite! Excellent pad thai, drunken noodle, fried rice & spring rolls. Not a fan of their version of beef pho. Very consistent quality food & service. We eat here once a week! On the skywalk as well so very convenient.
They open at 11 and not at 1030. If you go early expect to wait. Big guy running the register will lie to you. Other than that pretty good food. I used to go there because of my early lunch break 2-3 times per week not anymore
First time visit.
Quick service, fresh food, fair portions.
I ordered the fried tofu spring rolls and fried tofu pad thai, and they’ve definitely exceeded the quality of their neighbors - whom I’ve typically dined with.
It was easier to find than I thought it would be, considering it’s a 2nd story of a large building. Easy to find when in a lunch rush.
The only discrepancy is that prices have increased from what I saw online, but inflation sucks and I get it.
Also asked for a peanut sauce for my spring rolls, and I assume an innocent fault of communication happened, as whom I ordered from was not whom I received my food from. I’m enjoying the supplied sauce though, so all is well.
I’ll be back! Very glad I tried this spot.
Great food. Closest thing I've found to pad kee Mao in des moines. Interested to try some of there other menu items like the angry chicken. I only wish they were open later
The food was great from appetizers to the main course both I would order again
Incredibly flavorful dishes and the perfect amount of food. The dining room was spacious and quiet. Can’t wait to go back.
The fired rice tastes like rice cooked two days ago.
I have been disappointed as of recently. The portions have gone down and the prices gone up. I had chicken pad Thai today and I got 3 small slices of chicken in the whole dish. The food has always tasted good but they are skimping on the protein and it’s disappointing to spend $11.50 on lunch for some noodles and 3 small pieces of chicken.
Fast take out and the mushroom fries are AMAZING
Really delicious Thai restaurant, conveniently just a block from the Civic Center, connected by skywalk, and fast service. I plan to stop her before the next show I see as well.
I had the angry chicken with fried rice and loved every bite. The service was friendly and helpful. I will definitely eat here again.
I've been here twice. The first time it was excellent. Good amount of protein and a bunch of veggies. Just fresh and packed with flavor. The second time I got the exact same dish. The pad Thai noodles were stuck together in a big clump, obviously old and the protein was dry and barely there. There were barely any veggies as well.
Consistency is important, but not as important as quality.
So disappointed. 🙁
Excellent Food. Above and beyond service. You are treated quite well. From the minute you enter. No fast food here. Meals are cooked to perfection. Odd place to find and that is what makes it 5 Star. Again food and Service Exceptional. 👍
Ordered Beef Fried Rice and it came out alright. Nothing special about it. It is so greasy and the temperature of the rice is great....it was steaming but the beef is not as hot. It clearly states that the beef were all ore cooked and reheated and put it in the fried rice. This is not how you do it....trust me I'm Asian.😶
Service is 100% very cautious staff.
Dining room are 2.5 stars.
I can see the kitchen wall from my table and all the grease from the ceiling to their wall clock and the kitchen walls can use a little pressure washing.
The lady in charge was amazing and very accommodating to vegan needs. Highly recommend it.
Great service and FABULOUS food!
Gung Nang is a must if you love shrimp!
Super crispy and the sauce is perfect over rice!!!
Food is seriously delicious and they are so nice! We've ordered for our office a few times and they're always nice and quick with our big group. I would definitely recommend JJs to anyone!
Their Pad Thai is amazing! You must try this place if you like Thai food- definitely one of the best spots in the Des Moines area!
LOVE JJ Jasmine! The best customer service, it's clear they care about every dish that leaves the kitchen like they are serving a friend or family member. Everything on the menu is delicious, you really can't go wrong but I personally love the fried rice and pad see ew. It's family-owned and one of the best local spots to grab lunch or dinner downtown DSM!
The pho is okay. However the service is worse. Also don’t try to call in a takeout order because they don’t answer also the voicemail box is full.
Excellent service delicious meals
I love this place. Angry chicken is amazing!
Great authentic food served fast and always fresh. 👍👍👍
Best Thai in the area. They are open for lunch everyday- if you like the lunch make sure to check out the dinner. It is really special, they make sure to take their time at dinner and make the dishes as authentic to the Thai culture as possible. The pad Thai is wrapped in egg. It's amazing!
Excellent food and quick service!
I only wish this place was open more often, as the food is absolutely delicious! You can’t go wrong with the drunken noodles for lunch and the Thai egg rolls. All the food is very fresh, crisp and incredibly flavorful. I also had the angry chicken, which is very good if you want a more veggie, chicken and rice dish. I come from my office in WDSM to get lunch cause it’s so damn good!
JJ Jasmine is open at their new location at 400 Walnut St! Food is excellent and lots of it! I recommend the spicy pineapple chicken for heat lovers.
Don't let the poor reviews get to you. JJ Jasmine is hands down the best skywalk restaurant in Des Moines. Anyone who posts negative reviews is probably being paid to.
Delicious! Service was quick and very friendly. When we got there the line was out the door but we were ordering in no time. Stay in line if you see a line! It moves fast and you’re rewarded with delicious, flavorful food. The salmon I had was a special of the day and so amazing! Great local dinning experience. I love the Court Ave area so I’m totally excited about the new location.
Absolutely horrible slow service. Just giving out food to whoever wants it. No order numbers or names taken whatsoever. Might not want to open a restaurant in a high traffic area if you have no clue how to deal with it.
This place has recently moved from the K-Scope to the Kirkwood building. Nothing about their food is going to blow you away but still a decent place to have lunch.
food was nothing but oil bad seasoning would not eat there ever again. If i could give it a negative review i would
They sell Thai Tea in the large orange can, and I get it at least once a week! This stuff is hard to come by and one of my favorite drinks.
Also, they're actual food is good. Spring rolls are large, and meals are filling. The service is always friendly.
Great for a quick lunch. Pad thai is really good for fast dining.
Pad Thai here is pretty good
The people of JJ Jasmine are great! Their food is top quality!
The Pad Thai there is pretty good. They're pretty quick at making the food so it's a good option if you have a short lunch.
JJ Jasmine is awesome!
I got there early so there was a short line. Being the picky person I am I asked the front line staff if the Chef can make me a special dish. They asked the Chef and he accommodated my request. After the Chef asked me a few questions regarding my palate’s preference he created a special dish just for me, I was pleased with his creation. I asked the Chef what he called the dish and he politely asked me, what is your name Sir? I told the Chef my name is Chip; the Chef smiled and said the dish is called Chip’s Special.
I was very impressed and thought I was the only one getting the VIP treatment until a few more customers came up and ordered a Steve’s special, Jame’s special, Tom Special etc… It was obvious at that point that JJ Jasmine has a special dish for everyone, just ask the Chef!
If you are ever in the neighborhood and you can handle some heat (about 50,000-100,000 Scoville units) ask for the Chip’s Special. Be confident when you order the Chip’s special if you show any sign of weakness you might be asked to sign a waiver.
