A full menu of Thai standards is offered with beer & wine in a basic dining room in a strip mall.
This place is a hidden gem! The Thai food here is wonderful and for a great price. We prefer their Tom Yum and Pad Thai over other Thai competitors in town. When we came in today, there was no one here! They definitely deserve more business. The team was very kind and made sure we had everything we needed.
The staff immediately arrived at the table, and were very knowledgeable about the menu and offered informed suggestions. The preparation time is fast and the presentation and flavors are wonderful. I ordered medium spice and felt it was actually a bit milder than I have at other places and will probably choose hot next time. This Thai person will be back.
THAI RECIPES
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I love visiting my daughter on the southside. Asian food is a favorite and there is plenty of choice here.
Last night, we visited THAI RECIPES. Every dish was excellent!
We ordered the
Summer Rolls (veggie)
Tom Kha Soup (veggie, mild & med)
Green Curry (Tofu, Thai hot)
Red Curry (veggie, med)
Jasmine Tea (loose leaf)
Oolong Tea (loose leaf)
Oh, I wish I had taken a picture of my drunken noodles before I dug in. You'll just have to trust me when I say the presentation was lovely. And the flavor! Wowza. Soooo good. And Tom Yum soup is one of my favorite dishes and I don't hesitate to say that this is the best Tom Yum in Indy. This place is a hidden gem: well priced, unassuming and absolutely delicious.
The best one around! The food was incredibly delicious. I like how they brought us soup and spring rolls as appetizers while waiting for our order. It was my first time trying the Thai Sweetened Tea (with milk) and it was so good! It’s just too sweet, I could barely finish it. Will definitely keep coming back!
Absolutely delicious! I’ve been twice now. Once for chicken Penang curry and once for the pineapple fried rice with chicken. Thai iced tea each time too. Delicious. Mild-medium-hot-Thai hot is the scale. I chose medium. Slight runny nose, but not every bite was I wiping my nose or sweat from my brow. Great heat with still having the full flavor.
This place is amazing! We came while in town for the Taylor Swift concert and I highly recommend it! The pad Thai is delicious and the dumplings are to die for. If you’re looking for a good Thai restaurant around go here:) the owner is also very sweet!
This was a nice stop on a road trip from WI to KY. The restaurant is pretty easy access off the highway. The goods: the food was authentic and made with good ingredients. The place is clean. I enjoyed the soup and the spring roll a lot. The bubble tea was great. The bads: I’ve eaten a lot of Thai and never before said “I wish that had a little more flavor” for my main dish (garlic). The masaman curry was also a bit too sweet- but again not bad just different. Perhaps that is the style here- so to each their own but I wanted “more”. The only true bad was the mango sticky rice- it didn’t taste right at all- and it should be pretty straight forward. There was some kind of coconut crème poured all over it (and not the normal sweet cream). It also cost as much as a lunch entree at $8. Either way your experience may vary and there is nothing wrong with the place- just not my style of Thai I suppose.
The pad thai and thai iced tea was fantastic! The service was great! Will definitely be back, such good food!

Best Thai food in Indianapolis!
Best Thai food ever! Always an amazing meal and great time!
This is a great place. Great food and great service.
Nice place. Great food.

Great food! Very affordable!
I’ve been coming here for years and just realized I have never left a review- they are the BEST!!! Love them all. Wish I could give more 5 star reviews. Love the basil chicken.
I loved the food, service and , the atmosphere :)
Fresh homemade quality. Delicious! Attentive service. Thank you!

This place was outstanding one of the best Thai places in the city. I will 100% come again. The massaman curry was the best I have ever had.
Best thai food ever. The foods here taste authentic and delicious. The service and the friendliness of the servers make me want to come back again and again. I am not going back to any other thai restaurant. Keep it up Thai recipes.

The food was ok. Order the yellow curry, and the sticky rice with mango for dessert. My only recommendation is to put the milk on the side.
Service was not great.
They brought my dessert with my meal.
And the check right after that. Wasn't even done with my main course.
No matter the number of members on your party gratuity is included.
Yo this the Restaurant with the Thai in it
This quiet little place serves excellent Thai food. They were exceptionally quick in getting my meal to me, and very friendly as well. I will definitely be coming back.
Great spot that I discovered when taking trips to Greenwood. I passed it for a while, then finally gave it a try. Now I’ve been a half dozen times for lunch. The staff is very nice, food arrives fast, and is appropriately priced. It’s clean and nicely decorated. I rotate between pad Thai and pad see ew. It’s conveniently located right off 465, so it’s perfect to hit on the way in or out of town as well. There are some crispy critters that hang out in the parking lot, but I’ve never had an issue.
I called this place because they messed up a to go order I had picked up and for 40 dollars you think they would replace what they messed up but they actually hung up on me that is way bad business etiquette I think.. I won't ever be going back to this place ever again..
Best Thai cuisine ever.
Great food and great staff
The food is delicious; service is good, too. Nice to find such a gem on 31 South at Thompson Rd.
I really enjoy getting food at this restaurant - it’s my go-to for Thai food. The staff is always super friendly and kind which I appreciate even though I usually just get carry-out. They are quick to make the food for carry-out and it’s packaged well.
I really like the curries, especially the red and green. A lot of the food has some nice heat ordered as Thai Hot spice level. Really nice fresh vegetables, flavorful sauces, and a diverse menu. Still trying more dishes when I can! I tried the Tom Yum soup tonight for the first time and it had a very flavorful broth. I also got the Pad Kra Prow and I really liked the fried tofu that I selected as the protein. I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone interested in some fresh, locally owned Thai food!
Excellent food and very friendly staff!
We’ve ordered from here a few times. We’ve always gotten chicken curry, crab Rangoon, spring rolls and sticky mango rice and enjoyed our food. Today we ordered 2 chicken curry’s and paid an up charge for fried rice, as well as crab rangoon, spring rolls and mango with sticky rice.
The chicken curry was primarily liquid with a very small amount of chicken. The fried rice we paid an up charge for was about a cup of rice, at best. The spring rolls were cold. The crab Rangoon was even colder.
Normally I wouldn’t complain about ordering extra sauce, however given the order as a whole, I also didn’t receive my extra sauces. Very disappointing.
A little on the small side but the food, staff and atmosphere was on par. I had the red curry with chicken and jasmine rice. Thai hot. Was very good. Large portion. Regretted that I was traveling and could not take the leftovers. When I’m back in town, I will be coming back.
This is me and my cousins favorite place to eat we like spicy so we love the Crying Tiger dish with Sticky Rice the are family owned and operated and make us feel welcome the atmosphere is pure zen love everything about Thai Recipes 100% recommended
The waitresses did such a good job and the food was delicious!
You can’t find more authentic, better tasting Thai food in or near the south side of Indy for the money. I’d even put them up against pretty much any other Thai restaurant in the city. I’ve been to 5 or 6 and none are as consistent and pleasant as TR. it’s a weird location, I’m not going to lie…the intersection of sits on makes it pretty inconvenient to get to (come from the south or east and you’ll have an easier time). But other than that, they don’t miss. I’ve been going here for years and have loved everything I’ve tried.
Best Thai food you’ll find in Greenwood/Indy!
Ordered the Pad Ped with Tofu with spice level mild. It was wonderful and we really enjoyed it. Very fresh tofu, generous amount. If you enjoy medium spicy in general, go for mild. Their medium spicy is authentic Thai medium spicy which might be quite spicy for others. Would love to have food from here again.
Overly priced and food was mediocre!
Great service and awesome food
My husband and I call this place "The grandma's " because that's how good and fulfilling their food is.
Love this food! Didn’t come to dine in, so that’s the only reason I didn’t rate the atmosphere,
But I like the decor!!!! 😃😄😁 ordered the green curry twice here (authentic Thai-spice wise) and was thoroughly impressed! Was staying at the travel inn this evening (hotel right next door) and was bummed out that they are not open on Wednesday!!! Look forward to being able to eat here again in the future 👍
Food is good and service is excellent. The price is relatively at higher end in comparison with local Thai Resturants. 18% gratuity also added by default. May be inflation to blame.
Disappointed horrible experience
I order Green Curry with Chicken and Shrimps that was pathetic tasteless no flavor chicken was very hard visited first time
Absolutely delicious!
My favorite Thai restaurant. Great food.
Fast and attentive waitress. Place is very clean. Food was excellent. Blow on it first, tho.
I have been to this restaurant at least 3-4 times. I would say my experience with the food has been inconsistent. Most recently I visited August 2023 and ordered
Pad See Ew. I didn't enjoy it at all. It didn't have much flavor/taste. The noodles and chicken were a bit dried out. I ordered and called back within 3 minutes to make an addition and was told I couldn't because my food was already done. That leads me to believe it was maybe already done, and maybe preheated which explains why it seemed dried out.
Good food. Sometimes a language barrier with servers.
We were welcomed by Sandra, who seated us immediately as it was a little late in the afternoon. The food was delicious! I highly recommend the drunken noodles, shrimp basil fried rice and pad makua yow aka as eggplant with mixed vegetables. Coming from New York, the food was outstanding and hit the spot. The restaurant was clean and service friendly! Our young server did a fantastic job.
Excellent service
Great food and even better service!!
The pad Thai is good!
Omg what can I say about this place. The good is beyond amazing and the owner he us such a sweet older man. Definitely have to try if you have not been lucky enough.
Thai Recipe is a fantastic restaurant! Food was delicious, service was outstanding, and the price was just right! I would highly recommend!
It was okay my favorite Thai restaurant has been gone from the area for many years now it relocated to Alabama so I'm told (Thai One on) so I'm still looking for my favorite Thai: restaurant
Best Thai food in Indy, hands down. Also a family joint, and it really shows.
Wonderful Thai restaurant! Very clean, cozy, with plenty of seating. I ordered a Tom yum volcano pot which the server was kind enough to double check if I really wanted that size of soup for myself. I did and it was amazing! One of the best tom yum soups I have had, and I have eaten many! My partner thoroughly enjoyed her drunken noodle dish. If we're in the area again we will absolutely be back.
Just started recently going here. Been about 3-4 times. The staff is always wonderful, the food is amazing. The best curry I've had since I left California. I highly recommend this place, it's kind of hidden in-between Jordans and the barber shop but definitely a treasure for sure
My husband googled this place and we Decided to try it. Dining room and restrooms were SUPER CLEAN. The staff is so friendly and we were seated right away. We started with the shrimp tempera which was crispy and delicious! The sauce was sweet and there were tempera veggies to go with it. I got the Pad Thai which was OUT of this world! So warm, comforting, and well Balanced. Currently waiting on my Taro Boba Tea to be made, but will most definitely be returning!!!
Amazing food. Ordered Red curry - awesome; drunken noodles and pineapple fried rice. Their hot level is hot; so have it medium if you can not handle hot. Truly Thai experience. Red curry highly recommended.
Nice clean place with delicious food and reasonable prices. The server was helpful explaining some options to my uneducated self, and I ended up getting green curry with beef and a Thai iced tea. I wish they would play some music in there though to improve the atmosphere.
Very small amazing Thai food spot with great tea and great service.
Phew. You want medium spiced Thai they got it. Delicious authentic dishes and so delicious. Thank you for the good tofu! Not an easy Thai dish to make!
Thai Recipes was a go to restaurant for me for awhile. After my visit this past Sunday, Thai Recipes seems to have gone down drastically in taste/quality and the amount of food you get for the price you pay was disturbing.
First and foremost, the quantity you get for the appetizers was disappointing. In one Thai Chicken Wings order, we received 5 small wings for $8. On top of that, the wings were just fried and served with Siracha sauce. The other appetizer we ordered was the Sun Dried Beef. The order included 5 small, tough pieces of beef for $7. Truly disappointed.
Secondly, the quality of the two dishes we ordered for dinner was amateur. The basil fried rice we ordered (added basil and lemongrass) was very clumpy and soggy. When we ordered this dish in the past, the fried rice was outstanding. It almost seemed like each grain of rice was cooked piece by piece. The other dish we ordered was the Pad See Ew. The beef was very dry and the noodles were sour.
Thai recipes used to be a go to Thai restaurant for me because Thai Spice went down in quality. Unfortunately, Thai Recipes has followed suit.
Exceeded our expectations. The ladies working were attentive and friendly. The soup and spring roll (included with lunch entrees) were flavorful and tasted fresh. The curry and pad king were fantastic. The place was super clean and the decor was simple and classy. The to-do container was plastic not styrofoam. This is definitely our new favorite thai restaurant for quality food and service.
Enjoyed very much very friendly. Great food.
A delightful restaurant in a strip mall near 31 and Thompson road. The food is delicious!
I hate to give bad reviews. I rarely do it. However, I walked in this place and it smelled like a nursing home. I’m not trying to be mean. It truly did. The server was nice and prompt. I ordered pad Thai. The National dish of Thailand. Should be a piece of cake for any Thai restaurant. It came out looking like spaghetti. It was soaking wet. The person I was with and I both agreed we were not eating anymore after one bite. I NEVER do that. I am not picky and will eat damn near anything. However, besides looking super off putting, this was the most disgusting tasting food I have ever eaten. I eat Thai food a lot. I make it myself from time to time. This was an embarrassment to the entire country of Thailand. I have no clue how the other reviews are so good. We paid after the one bite each and left.
Very friendly service with decent food.
our second visit wasn't as great as our first.
Our server forgot about us and helped others that had arrived after us.
Crab rangoon
Shrimp summer rolls
Pad Thai no spice
Drunken noodles beef medium
First visit. Owners and staff were very kind and our food and drink selections were delicious.
Thai iced tea
Crab rangoon
Shrimp summer rolls
Basil fried rice chicken medium
Pad see ew beef medium
Best Pad Thai in the city. And the family that owns this establishment is very friendly and courteous.
Love this restaurant! Always great food and service, I highly recommend the pad thai.
The service and food were AMAZING! The fried fish and green curry were so delicious.
Best Tom yum in town
The pad Thai is okay but the Drunken Noodles need to be completely redone. There was absolutely no flavor. Not up to par with other Thai places I’ve been. The Thai tea is always good. Employees are kind.
A lengthy list of menu items to choose from; Pad see ew and eggplant basil stir fry were both excellent; service was quick and friendly; even the after dinner coffee was really good.
Horrible customer service! The manager basically yelled at me for “wasting ingredients” and he told me he don’t do exchanges lol but the pad see ew was disgusting. Not sure if it was my meal or they are gross in general, but I kept requesting things to make them better and he tried to used that against me in his wasting food arguement. The restaurant was filled with other ppl as this man was chastising me about not wanting to pay for them nasty a** noodles. It’s sad I had to get hype with him for him to understand I was not paying for food I wasn’t eating! P.S. I’ve never had to take back pad see ew because it’s one of my fav Thai food dishes.
High quality Thai food Great fresh ingredients loved it.
Don’t recommend at all. We had to wait close to 2 hours to get our order. Also I didn’t get what I ordered. I was ok just because I didn’t want to waste my time. Food was average.
Food was not fresh and tasted reheated. Food overall was not good either, not sure why the reviews are so high. I will never go back here again.
The food was good but the service was a little slow.
Got fried rice there, a fly lands on my food and take a stroll around on it. I asked the waitress for another plate because of the fly. After I get my check, I come to find out they had charged me for the same item twice because I ordered it again. When I asked why I was charged for a meal that I couldn’t eat. I was told ,”we don’t do that here”
I drive 45 minutes to visit this restaurant and have been coming here ever since I tried them three years ago. My kids love everything here. The food is always fresh and the owners are very nice.
The food here is great. Service is good too.
We travel throughout the US full time. This thai food is absolutely the best. We got #2 & #5. Our favorite was #2. Excellent food. Quiet and fast service. When we are back this way, we will definitely be back.
I honestly think they could have been better. I ordered coconut drink but I just got plain water. The soup and the salad I ordered were not even spicy as I wanted. I asked for medium spicy but the salad just turned out to be sweet and sour. Also the meat with the salad wasn’t well cooked, I could taste the rawness. Other than that, I had to enjoy the food because I was kind enough to not waste it.
Superb, wide ranging menu, with controllable degree of spice to suit every palate :-)
Friendly staff, fast service, keen prices.
Recommended
Friendly service, food is pretty good but I think for the price there could be more protein in the dishes. Also, each time I've ordered I've requested it to be hot and it's not at all. I compared the last time to my girlfriend's who got the same dish with a medium level of spice and it was the exact same.
This was a nice stop on a road trip from WI to KY. The restaurant is pretty easy access off the highway. The goods: the food was authentic and made with good ingredients. The place is clean. Servers only get paid by tips according to manager.
We were informed of this when she noticed we didn't write a tip on the credit card reciept. (Sometimes we prefer to leave cash instead of our card.)
My husband had already returned to our table where I was still packaging my leftovers. She followed him to point out that he didn't write in a tip. We stared at her for moment because it was very awkward. Then she continued by pleading for us to please leave a tip on the card because the girls work for tips only and that's how they get paid.
It was very awkward. I felt very uncomfortable and embarassed because the restaurant is a very small area so I felt put on the spot. Awful experience.
Food was good. Service was okay because they were short staffed having only 2 servers for all their tables. We waited over 20 minutes for the food from the time we ordered. and only got 2 refills for the hour we were there.
I loved this place so much , the fried rice with chicken wings was the best, the ice Thai tea was so good. Would recommend this place 💯.
SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE FROM THE BOSS!!!
FOOD WAS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING,
WHEN I ASKED for my chicken to be well done it came out half cooked, very tough & the “boss” said “look me up I have one of the top 10 restaurants in Indianapolis.” Did not fix my order this place is probably #800 placed in Indianapolis!!!!!!
We stumbled across Thai Recipes Restaurant while we were passing through on a road trip. Amazing flavor in everything that we ordered. The staff was friendly and the owner came out to say hi. Will definitely go back if presented with the chance.
Visiting from out of town, and decided to check it out. Delicious food, delightful atmosphere, and friendly staff! Reasonably priced, and quick service. What more could you ask for?!
We enjoyed the best Thai food we've had in years. Will definitely be coming back.
Beautiful lil restaurant clean and nice atmosphere. Food is EXCELLENT. Highly recommend this place. I travel alot and love Thai food... Flavor here is WONDERFUL
Food was delicious, hot, and fresh. It was ready in the amount of time that they said it would be.
Ordered the pineapple fried rice with chicken. It had very good flavor and only 4 pieces of pineapple! Really!!! Ordered the sweet sticky rice, paid for the sweet sticky rice and when I got home it was a ball of regular sticky rice wrapped in plastic wrap! Seriously!!! I guess that what I get for trying a new place 😏
Delicious meal. Excellent service.
This is seriously one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. The staff is very friendly and the food is SO GOOD!! My go-to is the Padd See Ew with tofu which is stir fried wide noodles with veggies all in a delicious sauce. Every time I get to choose where we eat, this is the place. You will not be disappointed!
Amazing food!
WOW! What an absolute hidden gem! The blurb on Google is misleading; there are no alcohol sales here. But the food. Oh. MAN. THE. FOOD. We had spring rolls, coconut soup, pad Thai, fried rice and red curry. All we're excellent. As the beautiful atmosphere and you have a winning combination. WELL WORTH the stop. Next time I'll try the Thai hot.
I need more Thai places closer to me that don't charge a crazy amount. This stores' prices are more reasonable than others. I have been here twice. First time was pretty good, nice place, and nice people. This time something was off. The soup that came with the lunch was sour and normally it's not sour like that. I ordered the pad kra prow and even the juices of this dish taste sour. I took a small amount out and heated it up to see if having it hot would change it but it didn't. It tastes terrible. And then after eating that bowl I noticed that two of my red peppers were brown, and it doesn't look like it was from cooking them. And the juice was especially greasy. I don't know but this is completely turned me off of this place. This may have been an off day but I will not be going back while they serve this quality of food.
Oh my goodness this hidden gem is delicious! Came here for my lunch break and it did not disappoint! This is the best Pad Thai I have had!!! HANDS DOWN. I will be visiting and often lol
I suggested, and came to Thai Recipes with some coworkers based on the glowing reviews this place has. In summary, we were disappointed by the food. Both dishes looked great but neither of our dishes were seasoned - quite bland for Thailand's bold and flavorful cuisine. I'm hoping this was an "off day" or a fluke.
A coworker and I who like to try new things decided to split our orders of the Drunken Noodles and Fried Tilapia w/ Rad Prik sauce. The fried tilapia was the biggest disappointment - it was cooked well but the Rad Prik sauce had no flavor.
The service was good and the place was clean, no complaints there. I'd be willing to try it again and give them a second chance, but I can't say I'm going to make it a priority.
Favorite Thai in Indy
Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant in Indianapolis, Indiana. Great service and Excellent Food. We had a 5 course meal, and we enjoyed every single bite of the meal. Highly recommended this place to anyone looking somewhere to eat in Indianapolis. I can’t wait to visit this place again.
The Thai style steak salad is amazing! Only get it if you love a pop of lime though. My husband really liked the basil fried rice.
Amazing food and service and great prices. Has a wide variety of spice levels for the occasional even for others who love intense spicy heat. One of my new favorite places to go.
Best wide noodles I've ever had.
Always delicious!
love this place -red curry is fire.
Everytime I come here they always give me exceptional service. Their food is fresh and delicious, they are profressional, courteous, and consistent. This restaurant literally is my favorite place to eat and I truly enjoy their food. I highly recommend 👌
Always so so good. Love the food and service here
Good food
I've had the crying tiger which was perfectly cooked. Not very seasoned, but the delicious sauce that it comes with makes up for it. Nom tuk salad with beef is SUPER delicious. GREAT FLAVOR. I definitely recommend both dishes with sticky rice.
I also had the chicken satay which had a great flavor and the cucumber sauce/salad was delicious. The dumplings I had were good too and the tangy soy sauce was yummy.
The restaurant was clean and everyone was wearing masks. The tables were spaced out too. I did feel safe going into this place.
My favorite to-go restaurant!! Best Thai restaurant in town!!!
Yummy in my tummy! 🤤 So fresh and delicious 😋 🙌🏾😍
High-quality delicious Thai food at an unexpected location lol. Everything was very cleanly made and packed very tidily, absolutely mess-free, even though the owner said the evening has been very busy for them. Cannot recommend the Thai Tea Boba enough because both me who have had various Thai Teas at multiple Thai places and my boyfriend who tried Thai Tea for the first time ever loved it SO much. Go for any kind of curries, it wouldn't be wrong unless you hate curries; my personal favorite is roast duck red curry - amazing through and through. It's so hard to find a good roasted duck curry yet they just did it and blew me away. My boyfriend got the basic Pad Thai and it was also very well made without being overly salty or over-seasoned. Clean and well organized restaurant space, the waiter who took our order over the phone was very nice and helpful. Would totally come again!
Amazing food and great service! If you need a new place to try, or you've never tried thai food, this is great!
