Established in 2007, Beyond Thai Restaurant offers a flavorful journey through Thai and Southeast Asian cuisine. Their menu features classic Thai dishes alongside specialties from Vietnam and other neighboring regions. We do not currently serve Sushi.
As many reviews mention, this is a hidden gem -- if you're not paying attention, you'll miss it, which is a crying shame. My grandma and I stopped in here for lunch. She got the lunch special, I got Tom Kha and Thai Iced Tea. Everything was delicious. My grandma isn't one to eat everything on her plate, but she ate the whole thing because "it's so good!" We got the seasonal mango sticky rice and it did not disappoint. If you're in the area, we highly recommend this hole in the wall!!
I’ve been going here since they first opened and it has been my favorite Thai place ever since. There’s no shortage of Thai restaurants in the city and burbs and I’ve tried MANY of them, yet none have ever topped Beyond Thai. My partner and I order from here pretty much once a week, sometimes more. Everything I’ve ever tried on the menu has been top notch. The staff is always friendly and the prices are reasonable, which is SO rare these days. My top recommendations are the pad Thai, ALL of their curries, and especially the curry puffs!
Pad Thai was not good at all. Taste like ketchup with noodles. Also, alot of the noodles were all stuck together. There's way better pad Thai else where.
The Thai iced tea was good though. Nothing extraordinary, but tastes good.
Portions were fine. Filled me up, but the taste can be improved alot.
Literally the best thai place I've ever been to in my entire life. I crave the food here all the time. My partner and I eat here or order from here at least once a week. If I could afford to eat here twice a day, every day, I would. I swear, this place is THAT good. You can't find these prices anywhere anymore. They have never gotten a single order here wrong for us and the staff is so nice! The music is pleasant and it feels like you're stepping back in time a bit, but in a nostalgic way. It almost feels familiar, even the first time I dined here. My only recommendation is to bring a light sweater because it can get chilly sometimes, but literally that's it. Writing this review is making me crave Pad Thai and a cucumber salad now. Will be ordering for lunch or dinner for sure tomorrow 😍🤤
I recommend the following dishes: Chicken Pad Thai, Cucumber Salad, Green Curry, Panang Curry, Pot Stickers, Everything really...
We had a wonderful dinner and wonderful server tonight. The food is amazing! Each entree we order was delicious.
This place is a fave go-to spot for tasty Thai. The food is so delicious & flavorful. I love the pad thai with shrimp, the pad see ew with tofu, panang curry with chicken, & the fried rice is also delightful! Everything we’ve tried here is great! Friendly family vibe and cozy booths if you dine in — on a snowy winter night it’s just the best feeling!

Is good when you find a good restaurant
We were looking for a place that was inexpensive and stumbled upon Beyond Thai. It's an unassuming place tucked into an old neighborhood strip mall. You'd blink as miss it, which is a shame because it's one of the best Thai food restaurants around.
The host/waiter sat is at a table and immediately brought us water and gave us time to look at the menus.
We ended up with the pad thai with tofu, the basil entree with chicken and sesame chicken.
The pad thai as not heavy and the tofu was pretty darn good (as far as tofu goes, and the medium heat we requested was just that, perfectly seasoned. Not too hit and not too mild. It was the Goldilocks of spice.
The basil entree came with mushrooms which the dish normally does not have anywhere else, and yet, worked really well in the dish.
The sesame chicken was lightly fried which is a rarity. These were perfectly fried in a light sesame sauce and the white rice was light and fluffy and sticky. You could get brown rice for an extra two bucks.
The food came out quickly and the waiter was attentive but not intrusive and very helpful.
We'll definitely be back!
I always order from Beyond Thai to go - not sure if new owners or what not but food qaulity and cleanliness has gone down the gutter. My thai egg rolls (raw) smelled and taste like dirty washcloth like they cut the veggies on a counter cleaned with an old rag. It was appalling. I ate three already before I tossed the other 9 away
I adore the place and their food. The spring rolls and curry puffs are a dream and they give you lots of chicken in the delicious pad thai. And the place is so nice to hang out with their big screen TV.
Good Thai food!
Beyond Thai is beyond amazing.
Very good Thai food
Just ordered take out,got it home, and opened it up. The first thing I noticed is that it is very lightly sauced. I mean very, but it packs a Whole lot of flavor. All of the ingredients where fresh. I mean, I wanted to drive back over there just to tell them how good the food was.
Great Egg Rolls
We came in right before closing, the only people in the restaurant. They made us feel welcome and kept the kitchen open for us. We ordered a fried tofu appetizer and two noodle dishes (Pad Thai and Pad Woon Sen). Everything was tasty.
It was our first time in this restaurant. We loved the quality of the food, and the friendly faces very much. The only drawback was not having everyone's food on the table at the same time. We will definitely buy from this place again, probably as take-out though.
Great Thai food for a a reasonable price
I've ordered from here many times, and I've always found the food to be very tasty. Also reasonably priced.
This place was recommended by our neighbor when we moved to Skokie last year. We were a little hesitant to try at first but figured we would give it a shot, and it was well worth it. This is the only Thai place we order from now. The food is consistent and taste great. We have tried pretty much all the Currys and love each one of them. The portions are generous, and the prices are good. The people who work there are very friendly, and it seems like a family run business. If you're overlooking this place, you're missing out on a hidden Jem!
Food was great, service staff attentive, portions appropriate. Will be back. I had pad see-we lunch special and brought home honey walnut shrimp. All was yummy and gone😁
Food was ok, place is outdated.
No egg in my pad Thai. Skimpy on the scallions as well. Very disappointed. First time getting take out here. Will not be back.
Filthy restaurant with filthy food
Great selection of food and everything we ordered was very good.
I was just there. After I ordered I heard someone gagging, coughing and making vomiting noises from the silverware prep area in the dining room. I then watched that person walk right back into the kitchen. No thank you!
Been here for dine-in and carryout several times and it's my new Thai go-to. Unlike other local places Beyond Thai actually serves food hot (spicy). Personally I like the kee mao 'very hot'--one step below 'Thai hot.' Even my super-picky friends loved it.
Not many people use the dining room from what I've seen, but it's perfectly fine and the service was just right. And BYOB is a great option if you're on a budget and don't feel like eating in front of the tube.
I really like this place a lot.
The food is tasteless and straight up horrible. I couldn’t eat more than a bite
This place was okay. I only state that, because I have been eating Thai food in 1999. If you really want great Thai food, check out Nathan's Thai Noodle Restaurant in Elmhurst.
Food is absolutely delicious!!!
The wait staff is uniquely friendly!
Highly recommend!
1st time coming here. Food was excellent!! Staff is friendly and courteous and attentive. We had the terriyaki salmon that came with a garden salad and homemade ginger dressing & miso soup. Also we had the Basil chicken just spicy enough but not overpowering. For appitizers we had beef rolled asparagus and moo ping ( pork skewers). All of it was delicious 😋😋. My new go to Thai food place.
They get 1 star for having nice service but everything that I ordered was just absolutely terrible. Spring rolls....nope nothing no taste. I next ordered the Beef Salad...nope also nothing no taste. FYI this place has no AUTHENTICITY when it comes to Thai food. I'm surprised this place is still open and able to sell their tasteless food to anyone. And this is coming from a THAI guy!!
Food was good. The waiter didn't have too much experience taking care of their customers. We arrived first nobody else was in the restaurant but he took care of the ones who arrived after us. Took their order and served their food before us. So, in what restaurants do this? I won't visit this restaurant again.
We ordered curry fried rice, pad thai and panang curry, everything was super delicious!! Now my favorite place for thai food :)
The food was not bad. The Tom Yum soup was not good though and for me that makes or breaks Thai.
Excellent food at a very reasonable price. I'll be back for sure. I was impressed. Nice staff too. Crispy noodles were extra crispy. Yummy. Veggies were fresh and tasty. Place could use a little fresh paint inside, but the food is excellent.
Delicious food. Friendly wait staff. We had the Panang and Larb salad and both were the perfect amount of spice. Good authentic Thai food
If I can give a negative review I will. But the delivery guy was cool. Food was disgusting. I'm sorry but it was horrible. I paid $50 for our meal and I would have gotten more at panda Express for a $9 plate. The portion was literally one small scoop spoon for the food. The curry was freaking strong of nothing but fish sauce. Orange chicken looked like cold fried battered shrimp extremely sweet and sour and I swear there were only 10 pieces of tiny shrimp size chicken. Never again. Horrible horrible.
Good and fresh vegetables and shrimp.
Their Lunch specials are good. The red curry was delicious! Will be back to try their other dishes.
Good food
It a lovely place
First time and everything was wonderful. The lunch special had a mini salad, 2 small egg rolls, a small yummy miso soup and the entre. We ordered Pad See ewe 34 and 35. Both were very tasty. The online order page was easy to use and make the order 👌
Super good , pad Thai is amazing and the Thai tea is bomb
Really enjoyed my fried rice, my chicken dish container to go wasn't full. Felt like I was missing a good scoop of food!
Very tasty Beef Salad and Rama Chicken. Snappy service win-win and carry-out. Excellent Vietnamese spring rolls too.
My family and I ordered 5 dishes, all were lacking flavor
Food is good but entrée portions are small. I order from here frequently for lunch and usually never have any issues. However, yesterday I received my food and two bites in I see a piece of hair in the Mongolian Beef. I immediately called and spoke with the lady and she told me to bring the food back. I did just that when I got off work. She opened it and took the piece of hair out to examine it and starting saying how the cooks(men) one had short hair and the other had no hair I guess. I explained to her that it was not my hair because my hair is long and black and the hair was brown and shorter. She then says maybe it's from the top of your hair. I said again NO that is not my hair. She told me they would make me a new dish, which I decided to pick up the next day because it was for my lunch. As a regular paying customer I was taken back by being questioned about a piece of hair in a order that costs $10.00.
Great authentic Thai food can't wait to go back
Affordable Thai food with EXCELLENT service. One woman worked the whole restaurant and even had time to sass us.
We appreciated everything about them and had a great time.
The fried rice is super good, the pad Thai is as well. My wife ordered the green curry and lived it as well.
Plus they're BYOB which made it all the better.
Food was good just service was bad. Waitress was not attending us at all. Left our drinks at the next table and didnt even bother to place them on ours. We reached out to get them, and she comes back saying you had to get your drinks.
Placing an order was bad too, I think she swore my friend in her language.
Overall location is pretty run down and literally has dry cleaning rack next to the tables.
Are you a restaurant or a dry cleaner?
Lovveeee this place!!!
GOOD LOCATION FOOD SERVICE
Portions were small, ok in terms of taste
Thai food at a decent price.
Awesome staff and good food 🍲
Would come back again!
Very tasty
Great lunch specials
Had better
Staff with weird attitudes...
The food was very good and fresh but the portions barely enough for one entree. They don’t even fill the container of fried rice . Not worth the money . Will stick to Little Wok from now on .
Fantastic thai lunch specials. Nice variety but i always get the pad see ew. most people order pad thai but i love these noodles so much more. Not sure why it is not more popular but I would highly encourage you to try them
Good food, and bizarrely nice bathrooms for a mom n pop
Horrible service and too much attitude
A must visit. Best Thai I've had in a long time
You can't go wrong ordering either spring roll. Both are fresh and crisp.
The curry puff was a little sweet but phenomenal.
Pad thai noodles were cooked perfectly and the vegetables still looked and tasted like vegetables.
Not good as it use to be.
Horrible. No sushi, no rolls, nothing edible. Beware the information in Google is totally wrong. Very dirty and cheap place.
Very good. Not super big portions but worth it
Down to earth Thai food with excellent prices
Cordial staff and good thai food.
Super solid. Inexpensive, perfect portions, really tasty. Service was friendly, it was a tad slow when we arrived, but picked up shortly after. Tables are large and comfy, place is nice and clean. Soups and noodles were all fresh and delicious, my wife loved the mongolian. Will be returning.
Great takeout place, portions are right not huge. Flavors are good and they make it spicy when we ask it to be spicy.
Decent convenient thai. Love that it's byob. Staff are friendly and they have good service.
Everything I've tried is very good, great service, and owner always looking for input from customers.
Funny im here a day after lam choi's visit(review). The waitress is rather stoned face, no smile or emotion. Lam was dead on. I ate here a few months ago with a different waitress. Wont be back
Went there last night, Jan 09, 2019, the waitress was not very friendly, not rude but not saying much. The portion was very small for the price. I order two dishes for one person and barely had a left over. The taste was ok, not excellent or anything like that.
Good food for low prices
Cute place really good food
Food is about average for a Thai restaurant. Service is mediocre. I was scolded by the woman answering the phone when I called to inquire when my online order would be ready. I placed an order online just a few min prior to calling and she said I called too soon, she hadn’t even received the order yet. Regardless of that, she should’ve said what the typical wait time for online orders is, not yelled at me for calling.
I order four entrees and asked for 3 red sauces at pick up. A woman, not sure if it was the same one, practically threw them at me saying she would get in trouble for giving me more than one. A ridiculous policy if true, but I suspect she just didn’t want to give us extra sauce.
This restaurant will definitely not have repeat business from me, and it’s unfortunate because I love Thai food.
Went there for lunch and was served "dinner portions", yet they were not even close to what I have seen any other place I ever visited for lunch nor dinner. Well this would have been a 3 star review but the food made me think of people that get tacos from a fast food place and then calling them authentic and tasty. Noodles were overcooked and the food was served very hot causing me to burn my mouth, making me think that it wasn't freshly cooked, but rather reheated in a microwave that didn't heat the food evenly.
Awesome Thai food for a very good price. Good portions and the owner is the best!
Good food at a good price.
Our family's local favorite for many years. Dinner entrees $8-12. Would recommend.
Great service, try pho it’s really good
Small portions, but food was good.
Good food
Spacious with parking lots
Place looks like it needs a little help but the food itself is AMAZINGA
Found this place last year and we drive all the way from downtown Chicago to eat here. The lady working at 6:00 pm on 9/23/18 was extremely rude. Dragging dish cart out to bus tables upset when we asked for an order of white rice, got frustrated when we asked for soy sauce. Slamming dishes around and inattentive to the guests.
We will turn around and leave without ordering if she is going working again when we show up.
Great food at good prices
One of the best panang curry i've had.
Solid food with unremarkable atmosphere at very good prices.
friendly people, great food. Will be going back again.
Good local Thai restaurant. Decent food at good prices.
Made the mistake of buying Pho at a Thai place. So tasteless. Try something else on the menu
Beautiful presented, made fresh to order. Every dish we have tried we have enjoyed. Dine in...take out...even hosted a birthday party there. Thank you.
Ordered entrée and Tom Kah soup were excellent , very well maintained interior . This was my first visit with friends who are vegetarians and suggested Beyond Thai as one of their favorite .
This is our Thai food go to!
Red and green chicken curries were both authentic and delicious. The mango bubble tea was amazingly good. Highly recommended!
I was excited to eat at this establishment cause of all the good reviews. Got there and the place had all the ambiance of a 7/11. Waited for 15 minutes with no one even taking a drink order, then one of the patrons walked up to the kitchen with his food in hand complaining that his chicken was raw and no one was coming over to their table to check on them. I got up and left at that point.
BYOB make sure you have this covered If drinking is part if the plan. This is a 5 star in my book. It will blow your mind..Food quality is incredible. Owners are grateful and happy and make you feel welcome. If you miss this one its a big mistake.
I keep trying thai restaurants in the area and so far I can't find one that can get close to their quality food, keep it up!
Great food, good prices & service.
1st time delicious, close to my son school
Best Thai iced coffee in the Chicago area. (I’ve tried them all.) Amazing mango sticky rice. Excellent pad woonsen and pad see ewe. Spring rolls not their best product. Very accommodating to special requests and attentive enough to remember regular orders. Staff generally friendly, even when they’re rushed or physically uncomfortable.
Very tasty. Fast lunch service.
good food, waitress busy and brisaue
Awesome Tom Kha soup!!! HORRIBLE pad Thai. I would visit again to try anything but the pad Thai. Fairly priced. Quaint location. Adorable atmosphere, with the feeling that you’re a guest in their home :)
Location feels a little iffy but the food was delicious.
I had curry take out. This is THE BEST curry I have ever had. Amazing. Beautiful interior.
Change venue & taste
Best Thai in Skokie... without a doubt!! "Oy" makes the BEST "panang curry, crispy tofu, medium-spicy...TRY IT!!
Great food at a good price. Friendly people. I'll definitely be going back.
Family friendly, vegetarian friendly, overall friendly place. The owner remembered us from first time and ever since knows what our go to dishes are. She always has a smile for the kids and us.
