Traditional Thai cuisine & drinks in a modern setting with bar seating & family-style seating.
FAVORITE Thai Restaurant in the QC Area!! My wife and I absolutely love this place. We have had Thai food from very many places and this is at the top. The Food is incredible! Service even when busy is as fast as they can get. And I love the small two person booths! Start with the Pork Dumplings and/or Fresh Rolls both are delicious. I usually get the Pad Kee Mao with Duck, it is one of the best wide noodled dices I've had. My wife loves their Gra Pow and Panang Curry, I've had bites of both and I definitely recommend them too. Military Discount btw! Awesome place, definitely a Must visit!
It's a hidden gem in a quiet area. Despite the very empty surroundings, the small downtown area is endearing. The place was empty, except for a couple of patrons, but the staff was friendly. The food, especially the perfectly done Tom Kha soup, was excellent - we liked that it didn’t have too much coconut in it. The Sample Platter, Pork and Chicken skewers, and Pineapple Chicken were delicious.
The restaurant has a few booths, then a larger area in the back for a larger party, and the cutest most romantic set of about 6, two-people seating areas that are in these small cozy booths. I have never seen anything like that.
The service was relaxed and friendly. We would definitely return and highly recommend it.
Came here on Easter Sunday. They weren't busy, but were pretty steady. The staff was very attentive, the food came out fast, drinks were always filled, and the food was absolutely delicious!!! I got the Gaeng Hang Lay which is not a common dish served in typical Americanized Thai restaurants. IT WAS AMAZING!!! It definitely reminded me of my mom's growing up, and brought back so many good memories. I will most certainly be back to try everything else! Looking forward to the Khao Soi!
Ordered out and didn't disappoint. Food was ready and hot....amazing flavor and just the right amount of spice. Fresh rolls were super refreshing. Drunken noodles with Mock Duck was amazing. Will be our "go-to" from here on out!
I will start off this review by saying the atmosphere is calm and relaxing. I had been to the other Soi location so I thought I would give Soi 2 a try. Our food was not good at all. My girlfriends broth for her soup wasn't hot, I would say it was lukewarm. The duck tasted and smelled rancid and wasn't crispy on the outside. The meat was also cold. We also got chicken and it was pink in the middle and the juices were a little bloody. I ordered a "pot" sized portion of soup but it was a small bowl of soup maybe 1.5 cups worth, for 19 dollars? Anywhere else I have gone and paid for a pot it actually comes in a pot, not in a small bowl. There were only 2 other people here eating when we went so I can't even blame the bad food prep on them being flooded with business. I felt really bad because my girlfriend isn't too much into thai food so I was hoping I could get her to try some GOOD thai food but this did not help her want to explore other thai options, now she is hesitant to try more thai food. I think it's really bad if a restaurant is willing to serve rancid meat, AND undercooked meat. If in doubt, throw it out, and at the prices they charge they should be cooking the duck fresh to order, which I can tell they are not doing. This was reallly bad. I also think that the soup itself was lacking flavor, seasoning and salt. I could make this at home for a 1/3 of the price with more flavor and knowing I won't get food poisoning. It's pretty disappointing that we can eat Thai food in Chicago for about the same price, and much better quality. I am sad to say I will never be coming back here and I will make sure to tell people to steer clear of this place. I feel so bad for ruining a date to come here. The staff was apologetic but I don't think they realize how bad it is to serve rotting meat and undercooked food. It's a shame because the hostess was nice, but I think the person who was preparing our food only made small talk with us to try and soften the blow to our wallet.
This place would have had five stars if it wasn’t for the service. Probably not the servers fault but poor management. She was the only server I saw the entire time.
After I got seated it took a good 10 minutes for the server to come over. When she did I was at least ready so I ordered the spicy Basil and a beer. After about another ten minutes and still no beer I had to go upfront and get it.
The food came out and was delicious. I loved the food.
After the food I finally saw the server again and asked for my check. Took forever to get it. She was very apologetic and I’m pretty sure she needed help. Either way it needs to be addressed.
Was staying at a hotel nearby and decided to walk to Soi for an early dinner. The miso soup and chicken pad Thai were delicious! The proportions were great and everything came out hot and fresh. The place was pretty empty on a Saturday afternoon, only two other tables were occupied. A couple people came in for takeaway. The female waitress was very friendly and attentive.
I gave 3 stars for atmosphere because the place was dimly lit and pretty tired, but again I was there for an early dinner and this location is downtown. So probably the norm on weekends.
We recently spent a weekend in the Quad Cities, and had the pleasure to have dinner here.
The service and the food were fantastic. Scott made us feel welcome like family. He was knowledgeable and his recommendations were spot on. From the Appetizer, to the Meat Salad, to my Duck Curry and her Pork Belly and Sticky Rice.
On a side note, it was the birthday weekend for my significant other. They overheard our mention of this and brought out this ridiculous Thai Custard. Just when we thought it impossible to eat anything else, this treat was other worldly and irresistible.
Thank you for making this a unforgettable experience.

I can’t review on atmosphere because I ordered delivery, but the food I ordered was very delicious. The only issue I had was I selected beef for the meat and was charged for it, but received chicken.
Good food and good service.

So good!!! The food was hot and so delicious plus the service was quick. I had the Pad See U with beef and egg rolls.
They are always very attentive, even if at times you may feel rushed. The food flavor is consistent and very good.
Super good food
This is is the best thai food we have had in America so far, highly recommend!
Great food
I was out dashing with my girlfriend when she tried to grab our food from the counter. Suddenly, a rude woman snatched it out of her hands, scratching her wrist in the process—pretty sure that counts as assault.
With all the negative reviews about this woman’s behavior, I really hope you address this issue, especially considering the ongoing rat problem.

I tried the chicken wings they were big and meaty but without the Thai sauce they would've been bland and it was the same for the noodle dish I had the chicken and pork had no flavor except for the sauce the dish was made in
IF YOU DON'T LIKE SPICE, PLEASE MAKE THAT VERY CLEAR; you'll get cooked if you don't ask 'em to go easy on you. 💜 Soi 2 is an incredible little spot, and it's a great place to stop in for anything from a quick bite to a nice dinner out; if you haven't stopped in, you're missing out. The khao soi is rich and creamy with a delightful pop of spice, the crab rangoons, fried pork dumplings or chicken satay make for an incredible start to a meal, and the chili tamarind chicken I tried tonight will smack you square in the mouth with a delightfully tangy & spicy sauce! Next on the list is Spicy Basil Duck, an old favorite from a spot down in Belleville, IL. 😋
If you like thai food, get down here and help keep this gem around! The construction is killing the business in downtown Rock Island, and they need our support. 💜
I cannot speak highly enough of this place!
The staff has been extremely kind and helpful every visit. They'll make substitutions when asked and will elaborate on aspects of the menu when necessary.
The atmosphere is clean, cozy, and tasteful with understated but well chosen decor.
Of course, most importantly, is their food. I'm not exaggerating when I say that every dish I've had has been incredible! My personal favorite is their street rice dish, though I got it with chicken instead of shrimp. The spices are delightful, the lime and cilantro were bright and fresh, and the chicken was incredibly tender! Their fresh rolls and crispy pork belly are fantastic as well.
Tasty fresh food, good price, very recommend
This is so sad for me to type because this used to be my favorite Thai place in all of the QC. The food was always spectacuar. But I must share and warn that I had multiple roaches in the packaging and food of my most recent delivery from here. I was given full refund but need to share to warn others. They have a pest issue right now.
I have come to eat here plenty of times and like the food. However last Thursday might be my last straw eating at this location. There was only one waitress and she is always grumpy and does not explain things well enough. We watched a doordash or to go order person wait for ever and he finally left since he was waiting forever and he tried explaining to her but she did not listen and when he left she was yelling at door being huffy and stormed off with food to kitchen. I left tip on table and when she saw my ticket she said no tip? My friend told her I left the tip on table and she/waitress left the register to go get the tip and stated do not leave tip on table. What if I did not want to leave a tip cause service was bad? To even ask me no tip on my ticket made me cringe since that is up to customer. I met the owners once they are nice but this waitress is always sour when I have been there.
Would love to come dine but the lady with the short hair and bangs had the nastiest attitude. No
So freaking good.
Food was very yummy and tasty. Quality was great.
Food is flavorful and comes in great portions. It is well priced and staff is incredibly pleasant. There is a wide range of options and it’s a real must go. Don’t hesitate to pay this place a visit and help out a restaurant and community in need. I personally eat better knowing the cooks and staff here are authentic and hard working, than going to a McDonald’s. High quality, low price Thai food. The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing. Perfect for dates, meetings, family outings, or just a quick and yummy meal. I come here any time I’m in downtown Rock Island and it really is the best option. Please find a way to look past the construction of the struggling community and take a chance on an amazing place
Great food, fresh, mmmm
The taste is so perfect that it is worthwhile going Wonderful service
Want to try more off the menu. We'll be back
Love this place!!!!!! Food is fantastic staff is fantastic love the resturant itself!! So much history in the building and you can feel it!! But the price is always different. Menu says 15$ but were alwaya charged 25$ per and a few times, we are told one price on phone, one price in person but when the bill is paid for its another price amd keeps going up. Food is good but pricing is shifty. Watch that, dinner is not more according to the menu online.
terrible service, really bad to customers
Well an update.. I went in for lunch today. They remembered me and gave me my crab rangoons! They were awesome about it and the crab rangoons. Worth the month wait lol. I’m happy to update this :). Ordered and picked up dinner a couple days ago. The food was great. Basil spicy rice. Yum. But my 7 dollar crab rangoons were not
In the bag. I called but nobody could understand me when I was saying they were not in my bag. They did say come back? I said no. I am 15 minutes away. I asked if I could get it at a later time. They didn’t understand. Sooo I was out the 7 dollars. Not the biggest deal, but I really wanted them! Would have had 5 stars otherwise.
We just ate there for an early dinner celebrating both my son's graduation from college and mother's day. We had an awesome experience. Portions were good food was fantastic service was awesome. They even brought out desert for the mom's And grad on the house ! Been here a few times over the years never disappointed. Thanks
Food is great. I was traveling for work and was lucky to find this restaurant.
Really good thai food

The staff is absolutely incredible. The food was wonderful
I arrived an hour before closing and the staff seated me, providing a delicious meal. This was my first visit to Soi 2 Thai and I will return.
The food was really good, our 1st time trying thai food! Was hot which was impressive! The egg rolls were nice, crispy ; my one complaint is we used the app and food was not ready when they said it would be
Miso soup was very tasty.
Went to lemon grass and loved it. It was my understanding that the ownership was the same. Tried soy 2 and the server was clueless when I asked for vegan options. Really disappointed in the experience here.

This was absolutely delicious and I think it's one of my new favorite thai places in the QC.
Highly recommend eating here :)
Very nice place, great food and friendly service. Thanks for lunch!
The best Pad Thai I've had in the QC so far!

My GO-TO take-out any time I have company & cute for any 1-on-1 dinner in a booth. Food quality and portions are always good, service is helpful. If you opt for delivery/takeout the containers are awesome and you can microwave 'em, and they even survived a few top rack dishwash-ings. The hardest part is picking what to get-I always end up jealous of the other person's order. I recommend having with friends that are cool with sharing a bite! THOSE CRAB RANGOONS *drool*
GREAT very genuine Thai food served in a nice setting.
Everything looks nice and all but when I got my food the rice was hard and it wasn’t good and service was a bit bad and it wasn’t really that good of a place to eat at and now they are calling their boss and putting words in my mouth this restaurant is really rude and not recommended
My favorite place for Thai food in the QC. I'm blanking on the name of the dish I usually get but it's wide egg noodles with tofu (you can get any meat but I actually prefer their tofu) in a spicy basil sauce. To die for.
I love the spicy basil fried rice with chicken. I love the soup that comes with the lunch special. I always enjoy it here
Soi 2 used to be my go-to place, but it seems as of yesterday the food is no longer good at all. Even something as simple as the pineapple fried rice... I think there was more 5-spice powder than actual rice in there. And, the wok is kind of a rip off. For $19, you'd expect a reasonable serving, but what I got was an appetizer at best. Really disappointing.
Best authentic Thai in the QC.
Best Thai food I've had in the QC, Thai Iced Tea was delish but smaller than expected. Looking forward to going back again, I really enjoyed the meal.
This is our go to for Thai.
If I could, I would yell from the rooftops of Rock Island how amazing Soi 2 Thais food is! After a long day of work, I was craving some Thai food. After a quick Google search, Soi 2 Thai popped up. Soi is a large restaurant on the corner of a slowly reviving downtown Rock Island. Upon walking in, it looks very small but gets larger as you walk to the back. Sporting several two seaters along the wall and larger tables in the middle, it is great for intimate date nights and larger groups. After checking out their menu, I decided to get their fried rice without the tomatoes.
With the four and five star reviews, I had high expectations, and they were all met. The dish was not super spicy but had tons of flavor with each bite having a hint of savory spice/sweetness. I literally had to stop myself from eating too much, which is fine as they give you enough for a couple of meals.
Also, the service is attentive, and the people are nice. Love that is local!
I haven't had much luck in the thai-chinese department lately, so I am glad that Soi was a winner! Whenever I am in this area again, I plan to return.
The curry was amazing and the fried rice was the best I have ever had.
Great food! Perfectly fried tofu in our noodle dish. I forgot if it was pad kee mau or pad see u but it was the one with 2 pepper signs. Pretty spicy even for my Asian taste! But otherwise it was flavorful.
The Mom’s special Braised pork was sweet and salty, also giving a good texture of pork, but immediately melt in your mouth. Fresh ginger evens out some greasiness of the pork fat. I poured the soup on my rice, of course, and I felt like I could eat 2 more bowls of rice… Both dishes were not huge portions unlike your typical Thai restaurant, but it was plenty food for dinner!
Super busy! Friday night there were 2 people - one lady with a fabulous service, another lady just doing her job. I think they need more people in the hall 😅
Everything from the food to the service to the space itself was perfection. Great portions and quick service. Will definitely stop in again. Excellent options for vegetarians/vegans.
Mellow vibe to experience fantastic fresh Thai food. I had green curry with fresh tofu and it was fresh and rich without being heavy or cloying. Studded with fresh vegetables including Asian eggplants that were silky without being overcooked. Rice is sticky but not gummy. Khao Soi is delicious too. I would have eaten here every night to try the whole menu, but was just passing through town.
Such good food! We had a great time.
Everything is always 5 star!
I had a taste for pad thai, and Soi 2 thai popped up in my google search. I had heard of this place before, nonetheless, I paid it no mind. I ordered the Pad Thai, pork dumplings(steamed) and crab wontons. I wish I would have tried this restaurant sooner. When I tell you guys that this is the best thai that i've tried in the QC, believe me. The pad thai was very flavorful! My only gripe with the pad thai is that they were very stingy with the ingredients, such as, the chicken, eggs bean sprouts etc. Their food isn't inexpensive, but is moderately priced. So with that being said I do feel like I overpaid to have mostly noodles. I ordered delivery, so i don't know if that played a role. Otherwise, I would have given them a 5 star rating. The dumplings were good, but the ginger sauce to dip them in, is delightful. The crab wontons were some of the freshest that i've ever tasted. They were soft and crunchy, and not too hard at all. They were perfect. All in all, I'd rate this place a 4.7. I cannot wait to try them again.
This place is one of my new favorite take out restaurants. They average about 20 minutes in prepping my food for pick up, and the food stays nice and hot for awhile. I love their Fresh Rolls and the Pad Woon Sen dish, as those both tend to be healthier options. I was impressed because the second time I ordered food here, I asked for extra vegetables in my dish - they actually put a ton more veggies in! Not just a little scoop, but a decent amount! And oooh are they yummy. Even my boyfriend, who does not enjoy Thai food often, said the Pad Thai was one of the best he’s had! It is one of my goals to have tried almost everything on their menu… mmm!
Visiting Rock Island, we went to Soi 2 for lunch. I had the Pad Thai, which was very good. My friends had the Larb and Street Rice and everyone enjoyed their meals. Service was quick and staff were friendly, even as it got busy. Great spot for a meal. Also enjoyed the Thai Iced Tea.
Amazing service!!
Good service great food
My coworkers and I frequent this place for lunch. Amazing and friendly every time. They were able to accommodate my super strict diet as well!
Amazing food. Every time I'm in the area I make an excuse to come here.
Outdated menu everywhere. Expected $25 order turned into $39! Too expensive never again.
Exceeded my expectations. Their prices are so cheap! I paid for three people what I usually spend on two elsewhere. I thought I had a favorite Thai place already, but this was so perfect, delicious, spicy and filling that they're 1000% my new favorite place to get Thai from.
Just ordered for dinner and all the food tasted delicious! Best crab Rangún we have had in the QC. Mango sweet rice was delicious. Pad Thai was a hit for my family who loves spicy food. Basil Duck was tender and tasty also!
The food was delicious. Service was quick and very friendly.
My buddy and I love coming here for lunch. The service is wonderful and the food is out delicious
Great service here and the food is amazing!
Was very different, and the service was nice. My soda can was frozen over, and my food did not have much taste. Also showed on the website sushi and drinks. They did not have this when we arrived.
Customer service was superb, food was delicious.
Pre-COVID, this use to be one of my favorite Thai restaurants in the area. The lunch portions were plentiful, flavorful and reasonable. Dinner was always higher but still delicious. However since COVID, ownership seems to have changed, the service is much slower, the portions have gotten smaller yet more expensive. I ordered the mango fried rice with chicken & it had maybe 4-5 pieces of mango 🥭 just laying on the top & not mixed in the fried rice. The Thai chicken wings, are not whole wings anymore but maybe 4 flats with tips and 2 drums. All of which, is highly overpriced for the amount of food given which is so disappointing now. Also, the Iced Thai Tea was full of more ice than tea. Plus looks like they've lost their liquor license. They have a sign on the door-"No Alcohol". Well I'm going to give them a break for a few months and next time, if I can't get there for lunch, I'll just make another restaurant choice. #UPDATE: This food had me with an upset stomach and back and forth to the toilet 🚽 all night 😫💩🤮. So something was bad or spoiled that I ate from here last night Friday, Jan 20th.
Amazing food, all of our dishes were so good! The braised pork belly was absolutely phenomenal, as was the mango sticky rice dessert
Duck Noodles are awesome!
Food was perfect service was fast and friendly!
Very good and excellent customer service.
Every dish I've ever had is amazing!!!
Very clean. Good food, friendly staff. Communication was a bit difficult But this was easily managed. Really enjoyed my experience there. I would definitely recommend this establishment.
Great service and food as always. Even working all the tables and takeout by herself, our waitress was awesome.
I like the food, but the last 4 times I've been here, the person working the register would refuse to give me the order I've ordered every other time when the owner's there. Or said they don't serve it. I've also asked for extra sauce of the kind that comes with the order and she's just flat out told me the sauce doesn't even come with the order and that either they don't have it or it's extra. Both of these things are simple requests and they are on the menu. I had to point and argue/explain every time.
Look I understand language barriers and the difficulty that comes with that, but they should really hire someone for register that can communicate these things. She's also extremely rude about it when I try to tell her what it is I need. I don't go here anymore because it's such a headache. Go to Miss Phays, the owner is Thai, pleasant, knows me and is friendly as soon as I walk in, and their food is the bomb!
Massaman curry was great! Spicy basil fried rice was also awesome.
Food and service is always excellent
Was in town for a family event and did a take-out dinner the night before. I live in downtown Chicago and am picky when it comes to Thai, but this restaurant can hold its own. The pork dumplings with ginger soy dip were wonderful. So was the crispy whole fish with sweet chili sauce... just enough spice. The only downer... I was too full to enjoy the fried banana and ice cream. Prices are fair considering the quality. If I lived in the Quad Cities, I'd be back again and again.
I got the Curry with chicken, it had mostly fluid and VERY little meat/vegetables. If you're looking for good food at a good price, this isn't it. But, what I ate was very tasty. My husband got the pork belly and there was barely any pork belly AT ALL in the container. It was also cooked so hard that it was dry and he ended up pulling the hard pieces out, when he chewed on them. Usually pork belly is not like this. The cost to food ratio is lacking for sure.
Every part of our meal was well prepared and delicious.
The lady offered me wrong menu. I tried to make an order cleary even 2 timess. It was so dissappinting..
My new favorite Thai spot in the QC! Wish I would of found this place years ago. Turned into a Soi 2 junkie and I am here every week 😍😍😍
Food was amazing! The flavor was on point and the service was excellent
Tremendous Thai food at very reasonable cost. Great egg and shrimp rolls. Highly recommend.
Excellent food (flavorful and full of spices) and service.
Tasty. Nice people
Amazing food, amazing service. That simple.
Best authentic Thai in the QCA
Food is always great here. Their papaya salad is really great. Try it "Thai hot" for the real taste of Thailand. The Tom Yum Tally noodle soup is great. You can try it with rice noodles or ramen noodle. Their fresh rolls come with an excellent peanut sauce with actual peanuts not peanut butter.
Awesome restaurant! I tried the Neua Nom Tok, crab rangoon, and the food was great. Even though the Neua Nom Tok was supposed to be more spicy than usual, I am sure that they lightened it up a bit because it was perfectly fine. In fact, it could have been much spicier and I would have still loved it.
I got the duck noodles Raman style. The broth was tasty, the duck was tender and not dry. Great meal, and the Thai tea was also delicious.
One of my favorite Thai places! The food is always fresh.
Foods good. Close to circa 21 & the speakeasy
Favorite Thai food restaurant in the QC!
Delicious! Not too salty/sweet but good combinations.
Fresh crab rangoon and spring rolls, curry is on point. Friendly staff, quick service.
Food was great. Service was horrible. Waitress took forever to take our order, we needed to ask for refills. When it we finished with our meal we wait 10 minutes, we had to ask for the bill and to go boxes for leftovers. She dropped those at our table and disappeared in to the back for 15+ minutes. Apparently according to the door dash person waiting for her pick up this happens a lot.
Good food, good variety, not expensive.
Some of the best Thai food around. The Pad See U is wonderful. Mango fried rice is great with shrimp.
That was the first time I have been there. Food was delicious.
Love this place. When I can't get to Thailand this takes me there by taste and smell. Portion size is slipping but other than that A+
Good food
Everything is delicious and fresh!
Such great food and I cannot stop thinking how delicious the food was once I left. Can't wait to dine here again!
Awesome food as always. Terrible long wait. I even ordered over the phone on the way to the restaurant. They said 15 minutes, it was actually almost 40 minutes wait.
So slow, employees hide in the back. I was here for at least 10 minutes before anyone came and checked on the front. Someone's gonna walk out with their cash register!
The chicken wings with caramelizedspicy fish sauce were fantastic. Just the right amount of heat and very succulent.
we tried the appetizers, everything was delicious! the service was also great!
Always enjoy ordering from Soi 2. The Pad Thai is always great and the service is impeccable.
First time at Soi, we were curious to see the latest reincarnation of this space and the food came recommended. Later on a Sunday evening, we were one of two parties in the restaurant, so had the full attention of the server.
Two things I'd like to say to the positive, right up front: food is plated/presented well, and I think the flavors might have been very good had not EVERYTHING BEEN SO DANG HOT. The "pepper guide" on the busy and frankly overwhelming menu means, apparently, not much. I like some heat, but the "one pepper" Street Dog appetizer was enough to break a sweat after the first bite, and the "two pepper" Tamarind Chicken meal I had was easily a "five pepper" on any other Thai menu. Also, whole butter lettuce leaves served on a small plate with a portion of too-hot spiced beef is not a salad...maybe an appetizer?
Our likely brand new server will hopefully learn the art of reading the room, know when to give some extra explanation to the newbies, sense that a large dude ordering a butter lettuce wrap "salad" might be disappointed with portion, and offer some alternative.
Lastly, an electric teapot would make the hot water for tea readily available, in a quarter of the time it took to heat teapots in the bar microwave.
I would consider a return, bit with a much better idea about the heat level .
The food here is always amazing! I am never disappointed. We got the pad Thai and duck noodles.
Yum-o!
The waitress was deceiving on upsizing all our lunch orders without letting us know. Plus charged us extra for things that the menu said came with the meal. It doesn’t matter how good the food is when you get treated so bad by the employees and have to pay for food you didn’t even order.
I had good service here and the food was ssssooooo good. I had combination fried rice and the sampler appetizer. My sister and 2 best friends really enjoyed their food as well! Will definitely be coming back here when I'm in the area.
Great food, good staff, nice decor. Highly recommend!
Great food one of my favorite places
Awesome, authentic food done right. Love the outdoor seating. Only place I know for real papaya salad
