Quaint kitchen offering Thai curries, soups & noodles in brick-lined digs with outdoor tables.
This place was wonderful. For starters I had a cup of Spicy Miso Soup, coworker had a Beef Spicy Salad, we split an order of Gyoza. He got Pad Thai (Chicken) and I got Spicy Udon (Beef). Everything was delicious. Not sure when my schedule will bring me back this way but I will definitely come back when in the area.
Very nice little and delicious Thai restaurant.
We went there with the family and had a great late lunch. Miso and Tom Yum soups, Pad Thai noodles and sushi were so delicious. Price is pretty good for the middle of the town center.
Service was very nice.
We will definitely com back here again.
**Restaurant Review: 5 Stars**
My husband and I recently dined at a fantastic sushi restaurant in Chicago, and I can’t recommend it enough! As someone who doesn’t eat seafood, I usually feel left out when my husband enjoys his sushi. I’ve called around to at least five sushi places asking if they could accommodate my unique request for what I call a “KFC Sushi Roll” (chicken tempura, avocado, and cucumber), only to be told to bring outside food if I can’t eat fish. But this restaurant was different.
From the moment I explained what I was looking for, they went above and beyond to cater to my needs. Instead of making me feel out of place, they created my custom roll without hesitation, ensuring I could have the full sushi experience with my husband. The attention to detail and willingness to accommodate my dietary needs truly set them apart. My KFC Roll was delicious, perfectly crafted, and made me feel like I was genuinely part of the sushi dining experience for the first time.
The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was inviting and warm. It’s a clean, family-friendly restaurant where we felt right at home. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! This was our first sushi spot in Chicago, and it definitely won’t be our last visit. I highly recommend this place to anyone with unique tastes or dietary needs, especially if you want to enjoy a meal alongside seafood-loving family or friends.
A big thank you to the team for making our evening memorable. Five stars all the way! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Worse than grocery store sushi.
Ordered takeout with my husband. Both rolls were terrible and felt warm. This was not due to a delayed pickup. The rice was overcooked and the fish tasted off. Also, $12 for 6 small rolls in a Maki order, overpriced.
Husband liked his Thai entree, but not worth the price.
Loads of vegetarian options, a gluten free menu, and the best friend rice we’ve found in Chicagoland. It isn’t heavy and greasy like most. They are careful when we clarify our order is gluten free due to allergen and will check with the cook to make sure food is kept safely gf. This is everything since cross contamination is just as bad as food with gluten where dangerous reaction is concerned. We feel taken care of and confident ordering here and are very grateful for their attention to allergen safety.
The sushi is a bit heavy (“wet” rice), but still okay, if not their forte. I recommend all of the fried rice dishes, love their pad-see-ewe cuz it’s loaded with Chinese broccoli and they cook their tofu well, AND the noodles are cooked beautifully. Never gloppy.:) Other gf/veg dishes are good, but the fried rice and wide noodles are the go-to dishes we usually pick.
Love my first time experience here at Montira from the excellent customer service where they make you feel so welcome to the wide selection of food and sushi rolls that they have. They have plenty of appetizers to choose from and I love how the presentation are amazing as well. The Gozilla is really a must try and also the spinach with sesame sauce appetizer. They also offer lunch specials during the week for affordable bento box lunches. They have amazing drinks too and the berry mix is very refreshing. They do have Sake and Wine as well.
very casual and tiny but I'm a big fan of the crispy pad thai and the sushi chef will make substitutions and I love the "submarine" and he makes it vegetarian for me with avocado and pickled onion and fried and is just delicious!

Favorite Thai place! We do take out! The pad see wee is amazing, so much flavor and Thai coffee very good!

Their crispy Pad Thai is one of my favorite dishes anywhere.

Food 4/5: Shrimp in the Blanket didn't skimp on the shrimp, which was large. The same was the case for the Shrimp Pad Thai, which was sweeter than expected with somewhat gummy noodles. They thankfully were not oily as is often the case with competitors. Basil chicken, chop-chop (ground) style and at Thai heat level, was spicy without being overbearing. Portions were just right. To drink, blue raspberry Italian soda was sugary and bubbly until the ice took away that fun. Next time I'll drink it faster.
Service 4/5: a single server handled the small dining room promptly and efficiently. No small talk was available for that reason.
Atmosphere 3/5: The simple Thai eatery decor included dark wooden chairs and benches that were comfortable throughout the meal. There's outdoor seating in the summer.
Some of the best Thai cuisine I have had in a long time. The pad kee mao and Thai basil rice dishes had a great blend of flavor and spice. The staff was friendly and welcoming and didn't make you feel rushed. The restaurant was clean which always makes one feel more comfortable eating at any restaurant.
Food was great, service was awful. Waitress did not check up on us at all and rushed to give us our check.
Never seen a restaurant with such poor service. We sat there for 30 minutes and the employees never so much as looked at us. We ended up leaving. Never again.
I am a new resident to Glenview and I stumbled upon THE BEST find ever. Delighted. Ew had just enough spice ( They give you heat options. Mild to 🔥 fire hot)
Portions are ample enough for dinner and a lite lunch the next day at work.
This is a long overdue review for an absolutely wonderful restaurant. I had the pleasure of discovering this marvellous Thai restaurant a few years back and I’ve tried to make it a regular feature in my dining experiences. Most Sundays, it is my go to place for lunch. The food is always fresh delicious and extremely good value. It is a family run place and when I am told that how much I am appreciated, I believe it, it’s not insincere corporate rubbish, but you hear from the big chain. Go there, and enjoy something from the extensive menu of delicious Thai dishes, or order sushi, or order both!
Very sweet little place that appears to be run by a family. The food was hot and fresh. Our party had one vegan, one gluten free and one picky eater. The restaurant was able to accommodate everyone and knew the menu contents very well. I am looking forward to returning soon.
Don’t waste your time. The food is very average at best. I think the food is better at noodles and company next door. We ordered chicken dishes with almost no chicken in it. They brought our meals out first then brought out our appetizers We told the server who barely speaks English, we didn’t want our appetizers for desert and she did not apologize and made all sorts of excuses. When we were finished they brought out our miso soup. What a joke.
Little chilly as undergoing construction but still amazing food.
Excellent food, we have been coming here for years, a family favorite!
Our family loves this restaurant. Very nice Asian food, warm service and affordable prices.
Wouldn’t recommend… food burnt! Service NO!!! Atmosphere tacky space gave off a very old smell… again, very poor experience! Will not give it another go!
This is a take-out place, so the atmosphere is unimportant.
We order from Montira Thai frequently and the food is always tasty. However, over the past few months, the prices have skyrocketed while the quality has degraded. When a dish says broccoli, one should expect flowerettes not merely sliced up stalks. Raising prices AND reducing quality is a double hit and unfair. I’m hoping someone at the restaurant reads this and reacts accordingly. The food is good. Don’t ruin a good thing.
The food was completely flavorless.
Key: You have to know what to order here. Rocky Road drink is a must!!! Pad Se Eiw has real chinese broccoli which has grill marks. Mark of high heat. This is how I test any Thai restaurant: via this Pad See Eiw noodles for texture, balance of savory sweet. Small but incredible venue for food quality, not to mention their sushi/makis!!! So fresh. Try the Sunset Maki. I like it funky. I said funky because of the Eel...so umami. But the salmon is top notch melt-in-your mouth. We also like the matcha crepe cake as desert.
Elite food. Great sushi
The staff was cordial and there is a variety of Asian food for a quick bite.
The crab Rangoon and sushi rolls I got were good but the pad thai was terrible. There was no flavor. The tofu had a tough skin and was completely dry and there was no flavor in the noodles. I ordered spicy and there was almost no heat. Waste of money.
Very good Thai, fresh, delicious, quick, several choices, friendly service.
Call ahead and make a reservation, I sure am happy we had one. It was very busy and the restaurant was small. Great food and good service!
The best Thai food in Glenview and the area. The quality of the food is outstanding in a time where all others have skimped on quality for the sake of raising profit margins. Ginger dishes are fantastic. Pad See Eew is the best.
I took my wife out for dinner at Montira Restarant located in Glenview at the Glen. The customer service was very good. Unfortunately, as soon as we ordered our food, we realize that this meal was not going to be very good. The tea was not very good and lacked any flavor. The Teriyaki beef was extremely overcooked. My wife had shrimp dish. Both dishes lacked any flavor. Both entrees tasted like they were missing ingredients. I would highly suggest that the owner start tasting the food before it is given to customers.
Would have loved to have actually gotten my food. We ordered almost an hour and a half they kept delaying the time, meanwhile answered the phone once. Put us on hold for 10 minutes. I called back several times after to no answer. Ridiculous customer service. We had a small simple order.
Great food, great people. Best restaurant in Glen. 👍
It was some of the tastiest Thai food that I've had in a while.
Best restaurant EVER!!! I totally recommend the gyoza! I didn’t think it was that good until I tried it, and once I did it was the BEST dumplings I’ve ever had! I also like the king California sushi.
Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, was delicious. We had 3 appetizers, 3 signature rolls, ugh, so delicious!!!
I literally cried, it was that good!
I like they’re curries. Flavorful and spicy. The Tom yum soup was also tasty and fragrant.
My favorite Pad Thai I’ve ever had! I can’t stop coming back for this great food! People are very friendly and the food is always delicious. Portion size is hearty. No other place compares!
Pleseantly suprised by their quality. I had Pad Thai which was great. My wife ordered from their gluten free menu which was extensive. Place is small so take out is probably best option during busy times.
Poor service, poor food, (not recommend sushi or sashimi here )food were too sweet lady was so unfriendly.
Everything is so sweet! Literally everything
Though a bit pricey for the portion sizes, the food was prepared well. All of us loved our dishes. I had the Basil Noodle with veggies, it was delicious.
Hands down my favorite Pad See Ew I've had in the suburbs.
Noodles are fresh, full of flavor without being overly sweet or salty and not drenched in sauce or oily, and included a fair amount of broccoli/carrots. I've only ordered carry out, but the portion is typical size and fair for the price-- I just wish it was bigger because it's so delicious.
The only other place in the Chicago area that I've had better Pad See Ew was the (now closed :() Thai Spice in Rogers Park.
Also tried the soft shell crab and it seemed pretty authentic and the crab rangoon wasn't overly oily or fried with a good ratio of imitation crab meat and cream cheese. This is my new favorite go-to Thai place!
Excellent service when we walked in. Place is very clean too. I ordered Pad Thai prepared with chicken. My dish was outstanding; seasoned well, fresh spices and presentation was nice. Ordered a side of peanut sauce, delicious!!!! Highly recommend. My husband ordered chicken satay as an appetizer, This was also very good with a small cucumber salad. Again, very refreshing especially on a hot day. What ruined our entire experience is unfortunately the sushi. He ordered A Maki Roll: Futo. The rice was overdone very sticky and the seaweed wrap paper was chewy and rubbery. We couldn’t even eat, actually had to spit out bites we took. When our server asked us about meal, we praised the first two items but stated how we couldn’t eat the sushi. The response was “I will tell the supplier”. That’s it. Didn’t offer to adjust bill or apologize. Very disappointing!!!! We would have definitely come back to try other items. This is not how you make good on a valid complaint when brought to your attention. The issue raised is between you and your supplier, not at the customer’s expense…literally.
I came to this restaurant because the app upside was giving some money back when you eat with them. Off-topic, the Glenview area was beautiful to walk around, so this restaurant has a nice location. I ordered a Thai iced coffee which came out in a mason jar. It was okay. The star of the show was an appetizer, fried calamari. They were not greasy, but crunchy. I also ordered pad see ew which was okay. The shrimp was the best part. The sauce was bland and needed work. For the taste of the noodles, they should have been cheaper.
2iwk doensl
Great fresh Thai food with an expansive selection.
We've not yet tried their sushi 🍣
Fresh and full flavored. Nice presentation. Quality of their wnes by the glass was a wonderful surprise. I took two curry meals home as takeout for the next night following our noodle dishes. We had chicken satay and soft shelled crab appetizers beforehand. Also very good. We asked for chopsticks, as table was set with flatware.
Pad Thai was terrible, no flavor or freshness.
Good Food !!
Great customer service.
Don’t know how this place operates. I’ve had food there 3 times and it was all bad. Not good Thai (Tom Yam soup was disgusting), not good sushi and not good customer service (they wanted me to buy more and charge more on my credit card if I didn’t total $10). Do this people not know there are 10 more Thai restaurants in 10 min radius??? Better avoid this place.
The food was excellent! We were a party of 3 and ordered vegetarian friendly dishes. If you can handle the spice, you should try the hot or very hot. The udon noodles were excellent
Pad Se Ew with Chicken is delicious! The appetizer portions for gyoza are small so if you order for two GET TWO! All around great food but service is very slow. It took between 5-8 minutes to get someone to take drink order and another 5-10 to get the drinks (water). Small restaurant so I would recommend take out.
We had one of their lunch specials for $10, very reasonable cost, lots of food, great Tom Yum soup on a cold day and the owner is very friendly!!! Highly recommend this place!!!!
Underwhelmed - Ordered on Uber Eats and it sounded intriguing, but the prices are relatively high for the size of the dishes, while the flavors were nothing special except for the vegetarian sushi roll with avocado and asparagus which was actually quite tasty. That said, the tiny dollop of wasabi paste wasn't nearly enough despite the roll being fairly small itself. Not a bad dinner, just not a place I'd order twice from.
CHECK YOUR BAGS BEFORE LEAVING! Got home with my curry and.. no rice. They offered me a $3 credit for next visit because that’s the price of a side of rice. This is a problem because you can’t eat curry without rice… so there goes the convenience of ordering in🤦♂️ I guess repeat business isn’t that important
Great place in The Glen Town Center for a quick lunch. Delicious & fresh options like sushi, Pad Thai, Green Curry, Miso Soup, Tom Yum soup & so much more! There lunch specials run from $10-$15 & are a great value!
Fantastic small place. Just another wonderful hidden jem.
Had the Tom Yum soup, a milk tea, and a Dragon maki role from their sushi selection. Safe to say I was pleasantly surprised!
A must try if you're in the area, and in the mood for some great Thai food!
No star at all.
I do not want give star but can not post
Not recommend they use old ingredients
All veagtable is not fresh even shrimp .
pad see ewe taste rotten.
Taste like overnight leftover.
I don't know about Japanese food but thai food I not gone a order again.
Everything very fresh and Delicious !! Had a fabulous meal there last night.
My new favorite place! The food was fantastic and the staff couldn’t have been nicer.
Love my first time experience here at Montira from the excellent customer service where they make you feel so welcome to the wide selection of food and sushi rolls that they have. They also offer lunch specials during the week for affordable bento box lunches. They have amazing drinks too and the berry mix is very refreshing. They do have Sake and Wine as well.
Came here for the first time a couple weeks ago and I absolutely love the service and food! The green curry was absolutely delicious (probably the best I’ve had) and the owners are incredibly nice. I’m definitely coming here again when I’m in the area craving for Thai food!
Love, love, love Montira! Yui and her husband are the BEST. She makes great recommendations and the service is superb!’
One of the best sushi restaurants in the area.
The best Thai restaurant I’ve ever had. Since being here, I cannot go back to any other Thai restaurants. Their spicy miso soup, pad Thai, pad se ew, green curry and the vege egg rolls are the best. Next time I’m there I’ll be trying different food. I’m not afraid to even try because I know the food will be good. I’m not even kidding! Try it!!!

Sooo good! Highly recommended
Excellent food! From appetizers, main dishes and desserts- all exceptional in quality, taste and presentation! Customer service is outstanding! Attentive, courteous and efficient. Truly enjoyable experience! Must come and see/taste for yourself!
Great food, wonderful service and very friendly environment. Highly recommend.
Amazing experience all around. Gemini is so friendly and kind and really worked with me to make me feel comfortable about ordering (I have a deathly nut allergy). The sushi is very reasonable and tastes delicious. Highly recommend.
Hands down the most authentic Thai restaurant around. Fresh ingredients, traditional recipes, and a wonderful owner. We go there regularly and recommend you do too.
Would really like to try this place again, the staff was great and polite every time they asked if we needed something.
Delicious Chicken Pad Thai & Green Tea!
We ordered pickup. The whole experience was fantastic. We ordered Vegetarian versions of Pad Se Ew and Basil Fried rice and they were very good. Spicy is really spicy but we loved it!!
Amazing service and the pad see ewe was fantastic
Nice atmosphere- they renovated and it looks great. Loved the Thai curry and sushi.
Fresh and delicious Thai and Sushi! Great location. Family owned, warm and inviting atmosphere... you will be greeted with smiles. The Pad See Ewe with Shrimp was delish. Will definitely be back!
This place is very clean and the food is excellent. A wide variety of food. And the service is really good.
Great food and best location !!
Excellent fresh food. Best desserts too!
Love the Thai Coffee and the signature Glen Sushi! The service is amazing and employees are sweet!
Excellent job, just wish oyster sauce was thicker and more of it. Garlic beef.
There's a strange smell of the restaurant. Outside is 90 degree and I dun feel any air conditioning inside. The food is not authentic Thai cuisine, especially the soups. Very disappointed!
Family style.
Very good service
Great food
fairly decent thai food and good lunch specials.
People are crazy who are offering poor reviews. This place has superb food. The Pri King Duck has so much flavor, as does all their curries. The Pad Thai and Pad Sie Ew (sp?) are some of the best I have ever had. So accommodating--they will leave things out or make a dish to special requirements. Their soups are so flavorful as well. Montira is the name of the owner/chef and she knows what she is doing. We have been to many Thai restaurants around the North Shore and this has become our go-to.
Slow slow slow service and it wasn't even busy. Food was just okay but small portions.
If you want mussamun curry that has no flavor, you’ll find it at montira!! I love mussamun curry and this was the worst I’ve had. The vegetables were well cooked, but the actual curry was like slightly flavored water. To top it off, it was quite pricey. Lose-lose situation for me.
Apparently the restaurant closed for a bit and reopened with a new menu including Japanese food. Since my family enjoys eating Japanese food and the Glen is close by, we decided to try it out. I'm glad we did because the food was really delicious. I went with my aunt and little sister. Between us we ordered a couple rolls (spicy salmon maki and sunset are the ones pictured), salmon teriyaki, and sea bass sashimi with yuzu and jalapeno.
The salmon teriyaki was really tender, but I think the sunset roll was my personal favorite (I'm a fan of eel). Their butterfly pea lemonade is cool too and turns from blue to purple, which they do in front of you. For dessert we had a green tea brownie which was absolutely amazing. It's a bit expensive, but considering the location in the Glen, it's not any more so than the other options around there. If you're around the area, I'd definitely recommend giving it a try. My family is definitely going back.
Very good quality food for affordable amount of money.
Have spend considerable time in Thailand and love Thai food. The food is excellent and some of the best Thai food in the suburbs. Charming husband/ wife team that owns the restaurant. Great food for the value.
Fairly unique food option for the Glen.
chicken satay was delicious. rice was cooked perfectly, also delicious. owner was very sweet and friendly. Unlike some other thai restaurants in the area. interior was beautiful and extremely clean. thank you!~~will be back :)
The owner is nice and the food is affordable.
We’ve been looking for a new sushi place after Ra closed down last year. After seeing Montira newly opened right next door we decided to give it a shot and boy were we pleasantly surprised. The food came out quick and was so good! My fiancé said it was better than Ra and I agree. The sushi was fresh, and delicious. We recommend The Glen. appetizers came out hot. And their miso soup warmed our stomachs. dessert was fantastic too. Not too sweet just right. Made from scratch everyday. But the best thing about Montira was the hospitality. The owners were very nice, accommodating and patient. I think we found our new sushi joint we’ll be coming back.
Awesome hospitality; great people and amazing food. Stop by and see for yourself !
Delicious Thai food, good prices, convenient location right across the street from the theater.
great food and service.
Worst Thai food I’ve ever had. Not authentic at all. Food came out fast, which means it was microwaved. Not fresh at all. Oh and not to mention, we Ordered spring rolls and ended up having a thread in my mouth! Yuck!
Never going back!
The food had amazing flavor, one of the best Thai places I have ever had! Definitely coming back again. Perfect portions and the staff is very welcoming. Had no problem with any slow service, our food was ready almost instantly. I also highly recommend having the Thai tea, very delicious.
Its sad when the noodles & company next door has more authentic and flavorful (not to mention larger portion) Pad Thai then this place... Service is slow as noted.
The worst place ever. Slow. People from the other table already forgot that they ordered a tea. The food tasted good, however.
It's almost eerily quiet inside here, but the food is tasty
This place is a gem in the Glen. It is hard to find good Thai food and this place is really good. Appetizers are tasty. Their curries and pad thai are excellent. Portion sizes are more than adequate. I have been here several times and the food is always consistently good! Price is right too.
This review is for carry out only.
The food from Montira Thai is consistently good. I've never had to wait longer than 20 minutes from placing an order to walking out with my food.
I like my Pad See Ew spicy and theirs is not, but fear not! The house made hot sauce adds a kick of fresh pepper spiciness that makes the dish a true winner in my book. Other favorites from their menu include the Red Curry and the fresh Spring Rolls!
The place was permanently full (it was a Saturday night) - not a single free table during the excruciating 2 hours we spent there, and yet it had just a single teenage waiter and occasionally the proprietor showed up. The food was below mediocre - I never thought I would use Thai and bland in the same sentence. Tom Ka was nearly tasteless - had to add large quantities of soy sauce to make it go down with large pieces of raw onion floating in it. I ordered pork my wife chiken - in had pieces of the same mystery white meat in both. Bland, watery and nearly tasteless. The restaurant was filled with families with large numbers of small kids (some as many as 5 per table) and had the ambiance of monday morning in a children's clinic. We do not go out on the only kids-free night of our week to see and hear this. Have I mentioned how slow the service was?.. Never again!
Awesome food. Loved the food they provided and the proof is my plate... Will share if I can...
