Standard restaurant serving up traditional Thai favorites in laid-back surrounds.
We recently dined at Bambu, a cozy family-owned Thai spot, and had a wonderful experience. We started with the vegetable spring rolls, which were crispy and packed with fresh veggies, served with a tasty dipping sauce. For the main course, we enjoyed the pineapple curry with chicken, a delicious balance of sweet and savory flavors with tender chicken and juicy pineapple. The Tom Yum soup was equally delicious, with a fragrant, tangy broth and perfectly cooked shrimp. The food was flavorful and satisfying, making it a great spot for anyone craving authentic Thai cuisine.
Decent Thai restaurant in Elmhurst. Food is good. But they don't like to take care citing high service charges which I don't understand why it is higher for them compared to all other businesses which never have a problem with cards.
The atmosphere was ok, it got too loud with many people in the restaurant.
The entrance is a little weird too but has a decent amount of parking.
Many of the dishes were too sweet. The barbecue pork fried rice was excellent. The spicy eggplant was very good and the egg rolls were good, but the sauce was too diluted. The Garlic, chicken and beef and broccoli Were very sweet.
Great food and good portions. We ordered panang chicken, tom yom soup, chicken satey and pad Thai. Pad Thai wasn’t good. I was expecting it to be dry but it was soggy formula. Other than that everything was fab. I recommend this restaurant. The dining hall is clean and pleasing but don’t expect upscale. Come for an authentic Thai experience.
This is our 2nd time at this restaurant during the past year. They maintained the same high quality of their food. We tried Basil Fried rice, Penang curry and Pad Thai this time. All the dishes are quite flavorful along with a nice atmosphere and prompt service. We will continue to come and recommend my friends and others to swing by for good quality Thai food. You won't be disappointed.
The Pad Thai and the Drunken Noodle were both delicious! I'd recommend the drunken noodle, it was more saucy and flavorful. We tried some of the appetizers and they were standard fried samplers.
The atmosphere does feel a little dated, but everything was clean and the food was great. Staff was very friendly too. Would definitely go back.
Nothing but good! I ordered the Spicy Bambu Chicken lunch special. I asked for medium spicy and it tasted as I would've expected heat-wise - Great flavors! Ingredients were fresh, it was more than enough for one meal, and the little egg roll was good. All for less than $10 including tax. My first time here, but I'd definitely return.

ME ENCANTO LA COMIDA Y MUY RICO A UN PRECIO ECONÓMICO

Great Thai restaurant. The food, drinks and service are all good.
It’s by a gas station, and the food is not good. We got chicken satay and it was not cooked properly. The green curry was ok.
Great food! Excellent service!
The service, atmosphere, and food, was terrible. Nothing to go back to or to recommend. We enjoy Tai, this place is NOT the place to go to if you appreciate good tai food and a clean customer oriented restaurant.
Great food and reasonable pricing for the portions given
The worst!
I'm not coming back here, ever. After a horrible experience ordering takeaway, my coworkers and I were disappointed to see food flies in our lunch-specials...
first- and last-time getting food here, me and my coworkers ordered to go, once we got back and sat down to eat, we found fruit flies in our meals. we called the restaurant to request a refund, but they requested us to go back and drop off the food first, unfortunately due to work hours we weren't able too. we tried to be reasonable with the restaurant and ask if they would send their delivery driver to pick up the food but they declined to do so. so here is my review instead.
Pleasantly surprised! Was in the mood for Thai food near Oakbrook and this was not too far at all. The food presentation was somewhat different than what I was used to as my Chicken Pad Thai had a somewhat reddish hue, but the taste was splendid. The included spring roll was a tad oily, but was tasty. The portion was larger than I expected for the lunch special. I would definitely go again.
Delicious food

Always get takeout, never disappoints. Portions are huge and always have left overs.
Good food fresh spring roll sauce could have been better. But over all decent but very upset how the waitress is very bad. No tentative at all and don't listen to the orders properly. No refills on water and hard to reach out too. Sad part this is our first time and we were the ONLY table present in the entire restaurant could have been better honestly.
Love the food. Everything is delicious
Probably the best Thai I've had in a while, got the lunch special, $11 bucks for pad thai chicken, comes with a delicious egg roll. Portion is huge, Can easily eat it twice and so flavorful. Would go back again
Pad Thai was amazing and good portion size.
Bambu Thai in Elmhurst is a very good Thai restaurant. The food is fresh and quite tasty! My favorite is their Basil Chicken and veggie spring rolls. The restaurant is clean, and the people are friendly! It truly does not matter if you dine-in, or carry-out. You will be pleased! I recommend Bambu Thai restaurant in Elmhurst to anyone who is looking for authentic Thai cuisine.

Everything we ordered was delicious 😋
Authentic Thai food, glass table tops, bamboo ceiling fans, and that legit Thai iced coffee you've been wishing for every night before you go to bed and cry into your pillow HAS FOUND YOU! Go to them!
Cool place, tasty pineapple fried rice
Excellent food reasonable price never had a bad meal they kinda took over where emperors kitchen left
Great portion, good taste, will come back to try something else.
Love how the food is served in boats when u dine in! Wonderful food
Soup is nice and warm with lots of veggie. Main course is good and enough.
This is our 2nd time at this restaurant during the past year. They maintained the same high quality of their food. We tried Basil Fried rice, Penang curry and Pad Thai this time. First time here and ordered lunch special and it was alright but definitely had better ones. Price is reasonable for the amount and taste but doubt will give it another try since I don’t live in the area. Also place feels very old and outdated.
Good prices, mediocre food.
I like the pad see ew. The price may look like a lot but its a serving for 3 to 4 peeps in my opinion. So I usually will make it into that amount of servings. In the end its a reasonable price. Its not soupy, good consistency. Right amount of meat.
Not like it was before
Great food, everything I've tried has been amazing!
We went there for lunch a couple of weeks ago. When we got there, only two other tables were occupied (one table was actually leaving by the time we sat down). We ordered their appetizer sampler, wonton soup, pepper steak, basil chicken, fried rice and noodles. The sampler was okay. The beef in the steak was overcooked. In fact, it was probably the worst beef I've ever had. My jaw was aching by the time I was done with my first serving of their pepper steak. The chicken tasted old (like it was left in the freezer a little too long). The wonton soup wasn't bad but wasn't great either. The noodles was good but the fried rice made up for that by being bland and tasteless. And the worst part was we had to wait for a while to get the server's attention because he didn't bring us plates or utensils even though we asked him when he brought the entrees. The fact that there was only one other table that had patrons gave him room for no excuses (being busy and such).
I usually visit a restaurant atleast twice before forming an opinion (to give them the benefit of the doubt). The experience here was so sub-par that we won't be visiting them again.
Came in for a quick lunch, ordered the lunch specials $10+$1 Upcharge for beef. Meal was extremely salty and sweet. Beef pieces were terribly tough. Total bill was almost $20 after tip. Honestly I didn't even care to check, because food was awful and I won't be back. Shame, I thought it'd be a better experience with all these great reviews.
While this definitely caters a bit to the average suburban audience, this is a solid choice for some Thai style food in this area. Flavors are good, portions are absurd and they have a few special treats like the Thai iced coffee and the Thai iced tea which were amazing.
I used to like this place, but it has really gone downhill. The last couple of times I got take out it was not good.
Bland and boring - I was excited after reading all the reviews but we were so disappointed.
If your diabetic your sugar level will spike. Food was good.
Very good Pad Thai! The service was fast and the owners were very nice! Will be back!
Excellent food!
Have had several Thai dishes and loved them all. Only thing I did not care for was the egg drop soup, but that is a drop in the bucket compared to all the marvelous food that is there
I grew up eating and loving authentic Thai food and ate delicious food in Thailand. This place is actually legit. They have some non-Thai items on their menu that are alright, but their Thai food is where it's at. Their Kow Soi is so creamy and good; Pad Kee Mao delicious; Bamee & Wonton with BBQ Pork is clean and yummy; Pad Thai wasn't traditional, but still tasty.
Very nice place to have thai food
Really good Thai food. I am especially grateful for how generous the portions are. I usually order to go, eat half that day, and have the leftovers for dinner the next day.
This place is like a hidden gem! Hands down one of the best Thai food places I’ve been too. Their shrimp rolls are to die for 👌🏻 Service is great by far my favorite Thai food spot!
Delicious food and fantastic service
Great Taste in food!!
Ordered for Office Catering and I arrived early food only took a couple extra mins for it to be completed!!
Provided us with plates and utensils!
Best authentic Thai food. Everything is made fresh with larger portions..Thai iced tea is so good!
Terrific lunch spot.
Food is excellent and reasonably priced. One of my favorite Thai places!
Never had thai before will nowbe my go to place
Great Thai restaurant. The Dragon Beef is my favorite.
Been going to BTC for over 10 years. Before the pandemic, I would come here for lunch with quite a few people from my work. When dining here, I've never had a dish I didn't enjoy and always take home leftovers for lunch. I started brining my family here about 6 years ago and our favorites are Bambu Noodles Chicken, Seafood Delight and the Cashew Chicken and always with a pot of green tea.
If you come here to dine, "PLEASE BE PATIENT" as due to the pandemic they are short staffed. The hostess is very polite and doing her best to accommodate everyone but the exceptional food is well worth the extra wait!
great food
I know at first glance it doesn't look like much. You need to trust me, the food tastes amazing. I'm from Connecticut and in Chicago for work. From the streetview I wasn't sure about the restaurant even though it had 4.4 stars. It just got scarier when I drove up and saw it in person. The building is not great but you have to trust me. I went in and the place was empty so I was even more scared. Then I tried the shrimp roll... It was one of the best I've ever had. The pad Thai was even better. Turns out the place was empty because they do a lot of take out business and well... Covid has made a lot of people not eat in restaurants as much. I know the building doesn't look great and the interior is outdated but that chef knows what he is doing. And it is cheap too!! It is really good food, at a really good price, who cares what the building looks like. Now stop reading this and go eat there.
Everything my family has tried from here has been delicious. They even do the pad Thai gluten free for me so I can enjoy their food as well. All the staff are the nicest and I hope they stay in business forever!
Nice waitress 😘
This place is 5 mins away from my job so I swing by for their lunch specials every now and then. Their food is delicious, their service is prompt and their staff is polite. I have yet to be disappointed by this place 🙂. For sure give them a try if you haven't!
Can be hit or miss, but mostly hit. Friendly staff. Good prices.
First time here because we aren't ordinarily in this area, and it was superb! Every time we're back in this area we will come to this place. The food was excellent-- high quality, good portions, packaged very securely, and staff were very nice. Give them a try and I guarantee you will be pleased!
good
Fried beef rice was good but wonton soap wasnt.
We bought a big meal on new years and everything was just bad. Waste of a $60 meal.
Great place. Love the green curry with tofu!
Best Thai place in Chicagoland easily!! Been going here for 16 years and I've taken so many people here who have all expressed her gratitude. I absolutely love this place. You get so much food and it's always so fresh and delicious. There's always nice quiet instrumental oriental music with a clean and tasteful decor. Two and Tasana are amazing owner/operators- so kind and thoughtful and always willing to go the extra mile to make your experience the best. My favorite dish- spicy basil chicken on rice (asked for the chicken sliced unless you love ground chicken) I could eat it every day. Spread the word- it's worth the drive.
Always a perfect option for thai food, one of my favorites! The pad Thai, pad see ew, and fried rice are my go to dishes.
Having been to Thailand, i know what authentic Thai food tastes like. I must say that it has been awhile since ive found a restaraunt that serves good Thai food and Bambu Thai is one of those places. Very good!
This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area the chicken fried rice is great I order from there all the time and the women working there are so nice and helpful.
This is my favorite Thai restaurant in the Elmhurst area. I have been going there for 12+ years and have enjoyed every meal. Whenever I have introduced new people to the restaurant they always comment on how good the food is.
Fantastic drunk in noodles w/beef.
Very tasty noodle dishes! Get a side of hot sauce if you like to add some zing!
SERVICE IS WUICK AND THE FOOD IS ALWAYS GREAT..
Great food and consistent.
Was in the area during the COVID-19 outbreak and ordered dinner carryout. First time customer, very pleased with the menu and our choices. Support your local businesses, folks. We want them around when we're able to sit and enjoy together.
Didn't like it
Love their Thai Food yummy and very affordable:)
Decent.
Excellent service, and both my wife and I enjoyed the duck (duck pineapple curry for me, duck fried rice for her), with enough to have a full leftover helping for both of us. The duck in both dishes avoided bananabeing greasy or dry, which is a danger with duck, so kudos there.
The fried banana was tasty, though perhaps a bit heavy on the crust. The honey ginger tea is amazing, and will be a go-to anytime I have a cold in the future.
My favorite is the basil chicken. Full of veggies!
Very good Thai food. It feels hidden in its location, but well worth finding.
Big portions Good food
Tasty, inexpensive, generous portions. Nice little Thai joint.
The food is great but whenever we go to get food it is closed, we're not sure what the hours are of this place I dont recall if there was a scheduale but if there was they wernt open when it said they were supoose to be.
I love this place. Has some of the best Thai I've ever had. You must try the summer roll appetizer with their amazing sauce. It's also normally quiet which makes it a relaxing spot to eat.
Our go to Thai restaurant. Great service, delicious food. Take out & dine in.
Great food! The Lunch Specials have it all.
Really good food
I got chicken pad thai take out from Bambu. I ordered over the phone and they said to come pick up in 15-20 minutes. When I go to pick up food, there's only one waiter that was serving a few tables. It took him a few minutes to even acknowledge me and I had to wait 5-8 minutes awkwardly off to the side before I got my takeout. It wasn't the best or most efficient place but the dish was good. The pad thai noodles were kind of a weird orangey color that I'm not used to with pad thai. I appreciated all of the peanuts! I will probably go back and try a different dish.
I might try it again. I took a chance w/ trying something new I had never tried and wasn't impressed. Spicy catfish and coconut milk soup w/ shrimp is what I had
Lots of food, reasonable prices!!!
Great Thai food, service and drinks. Very responsibly priced too!!
Nice spicy food
Love Thai. Been coming here for years good vegetarian options.
It was fine but it didn't feel unique.
The food was very tasty.
One of the best Thai places on my list. Ambience is poor, but the food will redeem for that.
Seriously some of the best pad Thai I’ve ever had. Make sure to get a side of peanut sauce with it.
All dishes order was sweetish
Nice Anglo Thai
I've been in search of thai food that compares to Bambu since I moved further away but the quality and amazing flavors is worth the drive. I am obsessed with their panang curry and my family loves their pad thai.
Inconsistent
Love coming here for lunch. Excellent Lard Nar noodles.
Best Thai food in Elmhurst
A quiet little Thai joint with food that's been consistently good for at least the last 8 years. It's not high-end cuisine, but if you're looking for a clean, go-to Thai restaurant you should check this place out. Dine in or take out - they nail all of the quintessential Thai standards. Try the Thai iced tea if you're in the mood for a sweet drink.
One of the best Pad Thai in the area. Always fast and courteous service!
Delicious tai food!
Three good experiences and one bad. The Mussaman curry I usually get was bad the last time. Skimpy on ingredients, it was mostly just sauce.
Been coming here since I was a kid quiet place and the best Thai food you will ever have secret gem of Elmhurst
I've wanted to try this place for quite a white, and finally got a chance recently. The food was very good (best Thai I've had in Elmhurst). The dining room though is a little Spartan, and service was on the slow side considering there was only one other group there. Clearly most of their business is takeout.
Great Thai restaurant option in Elmhurst. The restaurant is family operated and everyone is super friendly. It is vegetarian friendly as none of the dishes use fish sauce.
Great place for lunch!
Quiet and cool...Asian flavors, and a popular take-out place
Good food and quick service
Really fresh food.
Didn't visit the place. Got the food delivered. Person on the phone was patient and explained things properly. Food was OK. Rates are a little high. Quantity is OK
Absolutely one of the best meals i have ever eaten.
Great place to eat, but I always order takeout here. Vegetable spring rolls are some of the best I've had. Staff and owners are very polite and friendly.
Food is good, service is fast, but parking is bad during lunch.
Fresh Thai food that is bursting with flavor. Lunch special is an excellent value. Served in a boat that divides the eggroll, mini salad and main dish. Bottom line, you need to try their food. It's delicious.
Their yellow curry chicken is to die for. Must have for a spicy food lover
Good food
Portion was a lot but the food was not tasty
Truly great Thai food, that is just off the beaten path, hidden away behind Jimmy John's. The ambiance is stark, and spartan, the server is attentive, but not spectacular. The carryout business seems robust since the dine-in factors don't keep the clientele once the come in n the door. BYO or enjoy the fruit drink or soda.
Delicious pad Thai noodles
The food was absolutely delicious! Good sevice, food came out at a good time, and, again, food was amazing! I had the bamee and wonton chicken and my partner had the ginger chicken noodle dish. Wonderful! Will definitely be coming back.
