Very professional and hardworking. They were willing to keep the kitchen open for me and my party. The space itself is such a vibe and the food... the most important part... was good. I ordered the panang curry with tofu and it was perfectly spicy, sweet, and well cooked. Also the staff are very fast and efficient and work well together. The prices are great as well. It's a bit obscure, the storefront. It's attached to the Travelodge. Great Thai spot!!!
Everything not taste as I expected …
noodle is sweet but looks tasty,
miso soup doesn’t taste miso flavor at all very plain but the Tofu in the soup was fresh .
Spring rolls are too oily .
And the Tom yum soup is the worst ever ! Just soup add some chill … (I come to this restaurant cause I saw the picture someone post the Tom yum soup and looks great!but taste not good)
I will not back here again.
The waiter was sweet and the downstairs restroom was very clean.
The table by the window view was nice.
Price was affordable with lunch special.
Had the best dish here! Chicken, veggie, peanut sauce with jasmine rice!! I had to force myself to stop eating it! Servers are super nice and fast. Had a honeydew bubble tea which was very good! Can't wait to come back and try something else!! The pic is after I started eating it lol
I have been a long time customer of Thai Spoon and Sushi, but quality has gone down drastically in the last few months. The food has been flavorless and greasy my last few trips. I had chalked that up to one or two bad trips, and was willing to look past dips in quality out of loyalty to a restaurant I really liked.
My last order gave me food poisoning. I don’t say this lightly and want to be clear that the food I had from Thai Spoon and Sushi was the only food that I ate outside my home this past week. Further, my husband didn’t eat any of the take out I ordered because of a shrimp allergy, so it was the only meal we didn’t have in common - and he didn’t get food poisoning.
I ordered a shrimp pad see ew (picture attached), I ordered it not spicy. First off, it was incredibly spicy, which is whatever, but this was the first red flag. When I received my order I was pretty disappointed, all of my noodles were cut up in pretty small chunks, which is strange given that pad see ew typically has long wide noodles. Also, my vegetables were in various states of preparation, some were very mushy and overcooked, while others were barely cooked. The shrimp was fine, but like everything else they were swimming in a puddle of oil. My only guess as to why my dish was so spicy, the noodles were so weird, and the vegetables so poorly cooked was that I was given reheated leftover or at least partial leftovers of food that had already been cooked. Please feel free to compare the food I received with what other reviewers have posted.
Again, I used to really like Thai Spoon and Sushi. I even took my parents here when they were in town. But, I can’t recommend anyone go here.
Upon entering, there was a person talking to the host. I understand that, I waited to be seated. It took a while for them talking and I was already hungry.
Waiting for the host, you can see the bar is busy to the left, and to the right, very few people there, seated. It's a small area restaurant. Nothing too big and not a wide area.
Once they were done talking, I got seated at a very corner. This corner felt the same way you would be solved back in middle school, and told to go to the corner.
I ordered my food and drink. My lychee drink came out first and I tried it. Not sure what it was I ordered because they took my menu away, but this drink tasted as if it was starting to spoil. It tasted as if the fruit started fermenting already and they served it to me anyways.
I wanted to ask the waiter to take it back, but the the waiter, who also happen to be the host, decided to spend his time with him phone and focus on other customers except me.
My food arrived. It was a huge bowl. This was probably the best thing of everything. Someone on the reviews recommended it, and so I got it.
Szechuan style. I was peacefully eating and drinking my bowl, while some time later, a fly decides to come by and get to steal my food.
I kept moving my hand to move the fly out of my way. The two employees also saw me doing this and they did absolutely nothing to help me. They left me for my doom, fighting for my life against this fly who wanted to take over my food. The fly manages to get on the table, and contaminate my food area, but not actually get in my bowl.
I am staring at this person, looking at him in the eyes, waiting for him to come to me.
It has now been around 30 minutes, still waiting for an employee to change my drink. He chooses to not come to me at all, nor ask me how everything is.
Every time he sees me, he acknowledged me looking at him, and then walks away somewhere else. He even gets back on his phone or talks to someone else.
I'm done eating, and I am waiting for my check now. But I have to wait another 15 minutes for the employee to come by.
At this point, I was debating whether or not to get up from my chair, and walk out of the restaurant because nobody seemed to be paying attention to me.
HE NEVER CAME !!! Until a female attendant, serving water, comes to me, to refill my cup. Until then, is when I tell her to call the other person over to come to me.
THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN.
I told him about my drink, and he said he'll remove it from my bill. Later, he said it's only 50% off.
He didn't even do anything to help me about the fly from earlier.
If you come here, it's best to ask for takeout. Don't waste your time with these servers and the atmosphere here. If you can, speak to the chef directly to give you your food. Don't get a drink from here.
Nice restaurant to enjoy Thai food. We tried their lunch option and it was really good. I loved the Thai fried rice and my wife enjoyed the red curry. The spring rolls were yummy too. The Miso soup was bland but you can add their hot/soy sauce to flavor it up. The quantity of food is plenty too, we ended boxing up the leftovers.
Party of 6... food came out for 2 of us.. then 10 minutes later the 3rd person got their food. Then 5 minutes later the 4th person got theirs. And another 5 minutes after that the 5th and 6th person got their food. Get a clue guys.
I ordered some Chicken Pad Thai noodles to go and I think I was accidentally given the wrong spice level. I ordered medium but I think I got extra spicy because it was so so hot. Way spicier than I was expecting for a medium spice level. So either I got the wrong order or I just didn't have the correct expectation about spice level. Still tasty though.
This place was delicious! Great spice and flavor.

Chicken pad Thai is great and the medium is actually too spicy
Sushi is amazing
The food was ok but not the best
The Pad Thai with Chicken is phenomenal and the atmosphere is great, it’s usually very quiet but has very great friendly service. This place has a huge variety of a various Asian cuisines but they particularly excel in Thai food.
One of my favorite places to get a hot drink anytime of the day and year. They have great hours and the menu is fantastic, and relatively cheap. I love to get snacks here and the pistachio cardamom chai. We were helped by a man named Adil today and he recommended really great items too.
good food!

Everything was good but the food
I love the hospitality and my waitress Lalita was great. I will be coming back!!!
Great variety! Recommend!
One of the best bubble tea i have ever had omg taro is fantastic

Outstanding sushi and Thai food! I really wanted a Singha with my meal, but they don’t serve beer. It’s BYOB. Not a big deal, but I felt I shouldn’t include that since I googled that question and I was told they did serve beer. Highly recommend this place!
It was okay. Easy to get to before the show at Auditorium Theater. I had Ginger Chicken and my partner had Sweet and sour. Wish I had tried curry or sushi instead.
Go there. Form your own opinion. My trip there was terrific. I eat vegan. Couldn't tell you one thing about the other stuff. Above and beyond in the staffing department. Restroom located in basement.

Ordered takeout and food was good
We stopped here for our first meal in Chicago and we were not disappointed. The food was amazing, and the service was great. I got the Pad Thai and my boyfriend and I shared the Gyoza. Highly recommend!
The green curry is amazing.
Poor service
Great food at an amazing price
This was next to my hotel. It looked like a great menu. The hotel recommended it. The shrimp dumplings were delicious. Spring rolls were good.
My Pad Thia was ok. Almost no vegetables. I have had better at my home town.
The food is amaizing
I had an great dining experience at Thai Spoon & Sushi! The menu is impressive, featuring a classic selection of Thai dishes on one side and a variety of fun and creative sushi options on the flip side. The servers were exceptional—attentive, friendly, and genuinely seemed to enjoy their work. They treated my colleague and I like VIP guests on a boring Wednesday night, with smiles all around. It was a fantastic atmosphere, and I can’t wait to return the next time I work in this beautiful city!
Nice, quiet atmosphere. Good selection of meals for a reasonable price.
Much better options in the city. My pad Thai was covered with red pepper flakes, and was way too spicy to eat, as some pieces had too much spice vs others that were too sweet. Would not recommend
Locale gradevole, personale estremamente cortese e servizio veloce; ma soprattutto cibo delizioso! Inoltre le porzioni sono davvero enormi, senza risultare pesanti. Il mio nuovo Thai preferito, super consigliato!
We ordered 60 dollars of sushi tonight for pick up. Sadly the restaurant crammed all of our rolls into one plastic container with the separator's so we were left with a mushy mess. On top of that annoyance the rolls were loose and feel apart with the one pair of chop sticks we got for our dinner for two. If you do pick up, our recommendation is to check the container and bag before you pay and leave.
Had the best dish here! Chicken, veggie, peanut sauce with jasmine rice!! I had to force myself to stop eating it! Servers are super nice and fast. Had a honeydew bubble tea which was very good! Can't wait to come back and try something else!! The pic is after I started eating it lol
Food delicious. Staff very courteous and easy.
Food is a bit over-greasy to my liking. But the food tastes very good. Very good portion size. Almost one dish suffices for two. Good vegetarian options and great appetisers.
Excellent place to grab a bite! Very delicious TumYum soup and great sashimi 😋
Had raw fish and felt sick all night 😐
I am on a journey to rate all of the Thai restaurants in Chi-town. And to be honest, this was a massive disappointment. I am solely rating on food and the food was mediocre. I ordered lard na (Thai-spicy) and I received friend thick noodles in vegetables with barely any gravy and lots of chili flakes lathered on top...? The taste was ok, aside the exaggerated amount of chili flakes. The quantity was normal too. Honestly, with improvement, this might be a very good Lard Na.
❤️❤️❤️
Likely the best mussman curry I've had in a while. Came back the next day and tried the sushi, was not disappointed!
Love it here! The pineapple cashew fried rice is delicious. Get the peanut sauce too!
Some of the best crab rangoon in the city!
Great food. Quick service. Would recommend.
Good food, normal place. Very good value for the price which is unusual for Chicago. Allowed us to bring our own wine and did not charge a corking fee.
Things get pretty chaotic during busy times as the restaurant is understaffed. I had one of their salads, and it was pretty good. Try one of their smoothies.
The food is always amazing and I love it. It's brought hot and tastes amazing. The vibe of the place is great too, nice and cozy yet smooth and classy. The service brings it down for me though, one server was kind of rude and seemed like she wanted me to leave the minute I walked. Wasn't offered a straw but other people were. As I left, no thank you for coming or take care. Others got it but I didn't. Definitely would come back for takeout but not to sit down
I recently visited Thai Spoon, and Sushi and had a good experience. I particularly enjoyed their iced coffee – it hit the spot. The food, service, and overall atmosphere were all fine with no serious complaints, unless I really wanted to be specifically picky. A decent choice for a casual meal.
Fast service, friendly and food was very good.
Great for the price
This place was great went with my family, some sushi eaters and some, but the Thai menu was amazing. So lots of food options definitely recommend. Call atmosphere in a nice popular area of Chicago.
The spider roll was great, yummy spicy chicken pad thai, love the thai coffee, and the Boba tea is tasty too. We'll be back!
Small little restaurent. But service Lalitha provided was amazing. Food was ok. Soup was great.
While the atmosphere was okay and the service was good, the food was disappointing. The Tom Kha soup was nothing like what we expected, filled with too many bell peppers, and the eggroll was just okay. There might be other dishes worth trying, but I don't think I will visit again.
Food was delicious!! Food came fast and was cooked perfectly!
Six of us friends came to Thai Spoon for lunch. The place wasn’t busy when we arrived, but despite having plenty of staff behind the counter, none of them gave us a menu. I had to go to the counter to get a menu because we were hungry. It was only then that a staff member noticed us and accommodated us.
My friend and I ordered the seafood pad thai, but we didn’t like it. The dish was too sweet, the mussels had an unpleasant taste, and the scallops were cold inside. Another friend ordered the fried rice, which turned out to be too dry.
Overall, our experience at Thai Spoon was disappointing due to the service and the quality of the food.
The sushi rolls were pretty good.
We enjoyed our lunch at Thai spoon and sushi. They work with you if you have food allergies; the sauces and gravies are delicious and stand out here. I like that the price is nice!
Lunch special is a great value!
Good food for a decent price. Perfect for business travelers. Best meal I ate all week.
Really authentic and unbelievably good food.
Stopped by on a rainy day to grab a bite, the waitress was quite kind and understanding that we didn’t have much time. We did wait a little while for the food, not an outrageous amount but for the amount of food we got I feel it should have been a little faster. The food was alright, not a fan of the soy sauce but that’s not necessarily a reflection of the business. I did enjoy my sushi but the rest of my friends did not enjoy their meals, 50/50 on this place. It’s cheapish but the food reflects that.
Terrible
We got takeout. It was 20min before close. The pad Thai was good but felt like it was missing on the flavor. The hot tom soup was fantastic!
This place was recommended to me by my coworker and it was really a good choice. Decent sized portions and good food. Staff are nice too. I went when it wasn't busy so it was a very chill atmosphere.
Great Thai in downtown Chicago.
The lunch menu is both large and very good. I would for sure come back.
Good food and affordable for the area!

The “large bowl” is not large at all.
The waitress is not fluent in English, while she is fluent when demanding tips from me.
I always get the Thai Red Curry, just cause it's the easiest way to get to my heart. Good service, food comes out at a good time and always tastes wonderful!
Good options for vegetarian and good food. I just don't like that they add the gratituty for everyone no matter the party size.
One of the best Thai food place in the city.
Super value for money!
Loved the panag curry and pad Thai
Really nice staff, nice place, great food. Had green curry with beef and Thai ice tea. Very good and perfect amount of food.
The food is fresh and tasty!! I personally love the pad Thai with chicken. Best Thai food I’ve had in Chicago. My friend recommended and it’s a 10/10.
the food was pretty good, but not the best Thai I've had. pad see eiw was pleasant but not enough sauce for my liking. panang was tasty, but could've used a tad more spice. Tom kha was delicious, but I wanted it to be just a little more sour and creamy. satay and crab rangoons were amazing tho, no notes. overall, tasty, but just needs a liiiiitle more oompf to it. vibes are great tho, love the ambient light and soft fancy restaurant music.
They need to have friendlier customer service…. Staff is very rude.
Super friendly. Well priced. Food was delicious.
The pad Thai was decent and the service was okay. Can't say anything bad about the place.
Great location near downtown and fair price, not too pricy. Clean environment, my friend wanted to come back immediately after the first bite.
Very good food at reasonable prices.
The best pad see ew honestly. Even the vegetarian one is great.
Todo estaba perfecto asta que vi los pequeños ocupantes del baño y me pregunto "estarán también en la cosina ?🤔"
The service is sooo good. Our water is always refilled. More over, the fried rice is sooo good, I recommend it !!!
Good food. Fast service.
Got the takeout and loved it. Great affordable green curry.
Great place to take a Columbia student.
Excellent service!! Excellent food! Highly recommend.
泰式炒河粉太軟,不怎麼道地
Been here couple times so far, food is simply delicious. Favorites: Chicken Satay, Fried roll and Pineapple Cashew fried rice
Not good for meals
Perfect corner location and my go-to spot when I'm down in South Loop and craving Thai. The interior is no-frills, which I always take as a good sign at Thai restaurants. I always order the crab rangoons, spring rolls, and tofu Pad Thai! I've had my fair share of Pad Thai around the city, and other than a few spots up in Ravenswood, Thai Spoon has the best in my opinion. I hate dry pad Thai, and the sauce with this one is generous, flavorful, and the servings are HUGE (I eat a lot and get two more meals out of it). The tofu is also flavored and has great texture, which I've found isn't always the case when you get tofu instead of meat!
As for the crab ragoons, I usually stick to ordering them only from Chinese restaurants. But I took a chance, and LOVED the sweeter filling these had. Oftentimes I've found that Thai restaurant crab rangoons are too onion/black pepper-forward for my liking. But these had that sweeter flavor that I love.
Orders were taken quick, food came out even faster and was hot off the flame.
Ok
Taste Good
Okej mat.
Very tasty foods with big portion. I tried seafood fried rice and pad Thai. All are satisfying.
Surprisingly good sushi at v reasonable prices
Very nice Thai food. We ended up eating there 3 times. Staff were pretty nice too. Recommended.
The food was delicious and is in walking distance everywhere downtown.
Nice place, not crowded at lunch hour. Tasty Thai dishes. Appetizers so-so. Correctly prized. Beware: They add the gratuity directly to the bill, but they tell you before having to pay.
It's very much the same, but the restroom is too quiet, being a single person to go downstairs and finding the restroom.
Nos atendieron rápido llegamos ya casi para cerrar y cenamos muy rico si lo recomiendo y no es caro
Siamo stati bene: abbiamo preso pad thai con gamberetti e fried rice con pollo. Porzioni molto abbondanti
