I had a great experience at Water Lilly Cafe. The quaint cafe was medium size and decorated well. There are no paper menus and the menu is on a board and a digital option was provided in the form of a QR code. The ambiance and music gave a calming vibe. The service was great from when I walked in the male server was friendly and attentive. He also has great hearing as I made changes as he was walking away.
The beef pho was delicious. The soup being deeper in color than I was used to. I think that’s because the rare beef was different than other restaurants. It was rich in flavor, easier to chew, and more kid friendly. I cannot wait to bring my daughter here because she loves pho but the rare beef at some places have made her choke in the past. The veggies in the pho was fresh and good just what I like. Sriracha and hoisin sauce provided. The veggies come in the soup so if you don’t want that option best to say it ahead of time. They have big portion sizes, I got a small pho and it was more pho than I was expecting. The pho was really delicious I cannot stress enough I couldn’t put my chopsticks and spoon down till I was finished.
The stir fry I got was Pad Prig Pow- Thai Chili is was good. There were a lot of veggies and I added chicken and shrimp. The ratio of veggies to meat was a little below average. The flavor of the sauce was good, spicy but not too spicy. I would’ve preferred it spicier but I forgot to request that when I ordered. The rice was cooked well to pair with the sauce, what I mean is my rice that was without sauce was a little tougher than I expected but the rice covered in sauce was perfect. So I just mixed it up till my bowl was saucy and it was good. The red peppers in the stir-fry was super flavorful and my favorite.
I had an sweet iced green tea and water to drink. The beverages were good and I was sad I cannot have gluten because I really wanted a Thai iced tea. The server recommended curry to other tables that asked about his favorite thing on the menu. Overall my experience was great, the food delicious, and I hope to come again.

so, so it's not as authentic as was told. things were not balanced as Thai food should be. People are nice ,a bit slow and a bit pricey for the quality.

We stumbled upon Water Lily while in the area one day, and couldn't have been happier. The atmosphere was chill, the service was friendly, and the food was excellent (and very reasonably priced for the portions).

PLEASE SAVE THE TIME & YOUR DIGNITY and go down the road to Teton. (For context, I worked for years as a waitress so I have experience working in hospitality. And I also don’t like to give bad reviews, but I walked out of this place it was such a negative experience). When I first arrived the first odd sign was that in the entire restaurant there was only one group, on a Saturday, at 5:30, prime dinner hours. Anyways, I walk to the counter and ask for a menu. The lady indiscreetly eyed me up and gave off plenty of body language suggesting she was annoyed I came in. She very impolitely tells me I can look at the board or look it up on my phone for the menu options. Okay, maybe she’s just having an off day, so I thank her and take my phone out. I am not able to eat gluten, as it makes me sick, so I asked what the gluten free options are, she just pointed to the sign. So I asked do you have gluten free soy sauce, to which she snaps back that all soy sauce is gluten free. Which is false, many soy sauces contain gluten. Then I ask what the dish “house noodles” (with no description written) is and she rolled her eyes, sighed, and told me how all the noodle dishes are basically the exact same, but each with different sauces, and that she doesn’t know what’s in that dish or any of the other noddle dishes because “I don’t eat any of the food here. I think the noodles are gross.” It’s hard to describe all of the nonverbal cues and tonality, but I have never felt so disrespected in a dining establishment. I was excited to check the place out, but I was so disheartened that I walked out and decided I would find someplace else. I drove down the road to Teton Kitchen and I’m so glad I did! The girl was kind, polite, very knowledgeable about the menu and accommodated my gluten free needs. She even brought me a special little container of gluten free soy sauce so I could enjoy that with my sushi. Bummer the first place was so awful, but glad I found a business happy to take my order/business.

A hidden gem off the beaten path

Water Lily Cafe is a small Thai restaurant tucked away in a strip mall off the main road. It's not the most glamorous place, but it was cute inside and the food is delicious.

We were the only customers on the restaurant, but the staff was friendly and welcoming. We ordered some pad thais and the green curry, and both dishes were well done.

The only funny thing about Water Lily Cafe is the menu. It had to be scanned by a QR code and it was rather confusing to read. My order was definitely not when I expected as I wasn't sure how to use the menu. It's a small, intimate space, and because we were alone in the space, it gave the place a somewhat odd vibe, but it didn't detract from our enjoyment of the food.

Overall, we had a great experience at Water Lily Cafe. The food is excellent, the service is top-notch, and the prices are reasonable. If you're looking for a hidden gem of a Thai restaurant, be sure to check it out.

Delicious authentic Thai and very affordable too. Definitely up there on quality and we are from Toronto which has some excellent Thai cousine. I also found the layout and soft music created a relaxing environment.

We enjoyed our dinner, with the one caveat that they could use a bit more help with servers for dine in, at least the night we went. The couple who run this unique restaurant are lovely people and we enjoyed chatting with them as the restaurant was closing.

Friendly pleasant staff great food enjoyed a lot sometimes get extra just to have it for a second day if you like Chinese you'll like the Thai food probably better than Chinese.

Having to write a review of my negative dining experience is always hard for me and this is no different.

I’ve been wanting to try this restaurant for about a month now. Everytime I’d go out there they were closed and I only just got to try it today.

I ordered the Thai tea and drunken noodle. I was concerned about flavor almost immediately because the food I saw at other tables looked quite bland. I asked the waitress what they were having and she said pad Thai and yet the noodles looked white and I saw no sauce. Because of that, I asked that she make note for the kitchen to make my food extra saucy and spicy. I picked the most spicy option and yet my drunken noodles came out without a trace of sauce.

In addition every veggie you could think of was thrown in there. Drunken noodles or Pad See Ew —I really couldn’t tell. One bite of the food and there was no trace of spicy-ness.

To be quite frank this was the most plain and flavorless drunken noodle dish I have ever had and perhaps that standard is great for most patrons but for myself, it is a no.

I wouldn’t recommend based on my experience.

Best thai food in Buffalo. Ive tried almost all of the thai restaurants in buffalo and there are many good ones because, well its buffalo, but water lilly cafe is the best. The pineapple cashew fried rice is BANGIN. I got it with shrimp and they arent canned or tiny shrimp, theyre big full shrimp (with the tails still on so you know theyre good) and they dont just gove you 2 or 3 like some places when you get shrimp for the protein. Ive also had the pad see ew and the pad thai both of which were awesome as well. No matter the protein; it is quality. Also got a thai iced tea and it was great too. The family who owns the place are friendly and outgoing and ive had friendly fun conversations both time ive picked up food. 10/10 recommend, will be frequenting this place and you should too

Ordered here through GrubHub and GrubHub failed us big time. They couldn't find a driver, and kept delaying the delivery time, and two hours later they ended up cancelling the order. So we were waiting two hours for nothing. Not long later, we received a call from the cafe owner. He asked us if we wanted him to drop the food off for us, free of charge. He didn't want to waste it. It was such a nice and friendly gesture, and he went out of his way for us. The food was great and tasted fresh too. Thanks Water Lily!

I absolutely LOVE this restaurant! Staff is always extremely friendly & the food is OUTSTANDING! I am NOT a vegetarian, but this restaurant made me fall in love with Tofu Pad Thai. Yum. It is hard to keep the consistency & same great taste when getting take-out. This restaurant NAILED IT! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

Stopped by the Water Lily Cafe's "Thai Me Up" Food Truck this Tuesday in Larkin Square. There were plenty of good options on the menu, especially for just a food truck, and my order came fast and VERY hot! My red pepper pineapple curry was truly a hearty treat, and I couldn't help but to tell my friends, "would you look at this" upon opening the lid. Certainly would not hesitate to stop by the store or food truck next time I have the chance!

Tried Water Lily Cafe on a whim mid-afternoon today and was thoroughly impressed. We are pretty picky about Thai food after going to Thailand a few years ago and most of the places we've tried in Buffalo have been disappointing.

We had the Pad kee mow and Chicken Satay skewers and both were incredibly fresh and delicious. The owner, Kim, was incredibly friendly and a pleasure to talk with. We will absolutely be back to try more dishes!

This was my new favorite thai place until I placed an order for lunch from work and found a bug in my pad thai. The order was incorrect as well and the thai had no spice or flavor to it when it is normally excellent. Very disappointed as the very large company that I work for places many orders from here and you will now be losing our business.

Ordered take out on a business overnight. Cx/Shp Pad Kee Mao was sooo good. Good mix of veg and noodles. Ordered very hot and it definitely was. One level higher would have been uncomfortable for me. I've had my fair share of good and bad Thai food, this is definitely quality. Will be coming back.

Unpleasant version of what could be considered thai, or anglo-thai at best. Tasted and smelled nothing but fish paste. Upside the spring rolls were "ok".

I stopped in for the first time today.. I had their Spring Rolls they were rolled to order; you can taste the freshness. I also had the pineapple cashew fried rice with tofu; meal was packed with plenty of flavor (definitely NOT bland and boring). I will surely be a repeat customer especially since they apparently change their menu constantly to keep things new. I recommend to anyone who likes Thai food to give them a try.

First introduced to them and their khao soi at Buffalo soup fest. I liked it so much I went here for lunch as soon as I got the chance. I'm sure they have other good stuff, but I just keep going back for their khao soi. It's a delicious and different food and I'd recommend it to anyone, even if you don't normally try new things, you'll probably love it.

Great Food

My daughter and I have been wanting to go here for over a month, finally we stopped. I can honestly say they have the best Asian food I've had in Years. There was nothing in this meal that wasn't fresh, the flavor was perfect and you can tell it was made with care and pride, not just whipped together. I can't wait to return. It was clean and they were helpful in making a choice and very pleasant. The only criticism I could possibly think of is, I wish they'd advertise more. Apparently they have been in this location since before Christmas.. When driving by its very difficult to tell they are even there let alone what it is. I've seen nothing in the local town paper or any place they are there or what they serve. If the owner should read this, please please please advertise. I'm already in love with your foods and it would be awful if you have to close due to no business. I have no doubt at all if you go once, you'll return.

Locally owned and definitely a hidden gem, I've been there several times and have yet to find something that doesn't hit that "spot". If you're craving great food, or even want to try something new without stepping out of your comfort zone to much, this is the place!

My favorite Thai place ever. So sad to see them go- the owner and his wife have been nothing but hospitable in every way (always give me my favorite peanut sauce :)). I've been going there since opening week dining in and ordering out and the quality is always the same: AMAZING. Mussaman curry is my favorite dish, Tom ka soup is amazing, and their fresh shrimp rolls (get with peanut sauce!!). Thank you guys so being so awesome!!

Absolutely delicious food, very friendly wait staff and owners, cute decor and interior, and didn't have to wait long to sit or for our food. While the place wasn't very busy while we were there, the owners and staff took the time to say hello and made sure our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. I had the pineapple red Curry and it was excellent. Definitely will come back.
