Northern Thai restaurant in a colorful, modern space with a 'secret' menu & a full bar.
Order:
- Crab Rangoons
- Medium Chicken Pad Thai (No Bean Sprouts)
This was not one of the better Pad Thai I've had. It was somewhat dry and carried very little of the Tamarind flavor that makes Pad Thai delicious. It can be said that the lime was responsible for most of the taste.
The Rangoons on the other hand were good enough, although oddly shaped. Perhaps it is the style of the restaurant to not use the traditional shape?
The Atmosphere was very chill with a pleasant, open air feeling. Unfortunately, during the summer heat, the ceiling fans were not enough to keep me cool whilst they kept the windows wide open. Expect to feel quite hot if visiting in hot and humidity conditions.
The service was wonderful, attentive, and efficient, I have only praise for my waitress.
This is our first visit and the food was overall good. The service was excellent. I would highly recommend the Pad Thai. The beef was good but very small portions for the price. The spring rolls were tasty but had too much cabbage. We will certainly give this another try soon.
2/24/2024 Sixth (or 7th) Visit: I keeps coming back and exploring different dishes each time! So far everything I tried are delicious- so glad u found this place!
First visit:
Food was a bit underwhelming… curry was really bland (I had the jungle curry which was supposed to be very spicy) rice was hard, chicken was very tough, Pad See Ew was sooo sweet and portion was small. The only thing I really enjoyed was the fried calamari appetizer. The restaurant was beautiful and clean, service was okay. I will come back for the appetizer tho, and try some new dishes hopefully will taste better :)
Very yummy food for an affordable price. Went for lunch and tried the spicy basil fried rice and the garlic noodles along with the spring rolls. The atmosphere is cozy, service great and the place very clean. Surprisingly was almost empty for a late lunch on a weekend.
Not a 5 star only coz while the food is yummy, I am not sure if this is authentic Thai. It’s an Americanized version of Thai cuisine.
Alcohol is very affordable too and highly recommended if you enjoy Asian cuisine at a budget.
Outstanding Thai restaurant in Chicago! I went after some Thai friends recommended it, and it does not disappoint!
Thai decoration inside, especially related to movie stars, and very, very good food!
We had moo ping, grilled squid, crunchy pork belly and duck curry, everything very tasty, with a great side sauce, and decent portions.
Definitely a place you will want to come back!
I’ve never tried something here I didn’t like. My mom even has me drive down the crab rangoons to Kentucky. Please never let this place go out of business. Anytime you want Thai food, order Tac Quick. It’s so unbelievably good, so affordable, and the employees are wonderful.

Great little spot. Good food. Good vibes
Best pad khee mao I've ever had. Moo ping is fantastic too. I never go anywhere else for Thai.
Kra Phrao Kai Yeow Ma was phenomenal!
We are visiting from Detroit and loving Chicago. Gorgeous city.
I ordered the Pad Thai "medium". It was better after I added a teaspoon of red pepper flakes. Very little flavor and very bland though. The egg rolls had cabbage in them. No chicken as the menu stated. Apparently different than Detroit Thai. I always say, "we are very spoiled with ethnic food in Detroit". The best for multiple ethnicities.
The atmosphere was nice, service was good and the place looked clean. The food was light on flavor though.

My favorite Thai Restaurant.
Blast of tasty flavors.

Amazing place! Simple and good food.
1 am on a Sunday night into Monday morning when people need to be up early for work, and they have music louder than any club in the city you can hear from blocks away, and people standing outside yelling and screaming at each other. They have good food, but they are an awful neighbor to have. Zero respect for the community.
Terrible food and service attitude !
If you’ve ever watched the video of the dude who takes a bite of food and then cries because it tastes so good, is exactly how this place made me feel. Everything was SO delicious - I ordered the garlic rice with chicken, the beef basil rolls, and the crab Rangoons. I’m so excited I have leftovers to eat and I seriously cannot wait to try the other dishes. I highly recommend this place!! And it’s not often I leave a review for restaurants
Everything is yummmy

Do not! Check the yelp review. There was a roach in someone’s food from a few years ago. The review used to be listed on google but it’s been removed.
Ordered egg rolls and pad thai noodles with beef via grubhub. The noodles were in a big, congealed lump. The beef had a disturbing greyish color. The egg rolls were the best of this order, but a bit oily.
Overall pretty disappointing. I won't order from here again.
Delicious!
Great service, nice atmosphere, awesome food!
The food is delicious. The service is great. Everyone is so friendly. Super chill vibe! ♥️
A favorite spot with the neighborhood, or for anyone who enjoys Thai food! Good bar selection and drinks, along with a great patio, makes it perfect for date nights, or girls night out!
We had a wonderful dinner at Tac Quick! We ordered the Crab Rangoon, Panang Noodle and the Pad Mee. The Crab Rangoon were some of the best rangoons we’ve had recently and both noodle dishes were flavorful and fresh. The Panang Noodle was a little chunky for me as the pieces of veggie were large and crunchy, but the flavor of the curry was delicious. The restaurant was lively and the small patio was perfect for the weather. Our servers were very helpful and the service was quick. I would eat at Tac Quick again!
Very authentic and delicious Thai food and Best Thai iced tea I've ever had!!! $9 lunch special and an awesome happy hour will keep me coming back for more!
Food was very affordable and tasty. If you are looking for a great place to eat it’s a must. Spacious
Got there once they opened - staff was so kind and helpful! The food was delicious and a definite fave for me. It was a refreshing meal that I enjoyed thoroughly!
Pleasantly surprised! Great quality of ingredients, and fantastic tasting Thai food.
One of my favorite thai places around. The vegetable potstickers are fantastic and unlike any potsticker I’ve ever had. Honestly one of the main reasons to keep coming back! Pad see ew here is very good as well. Those are our two regular options, then we switch up what else we get - usually a curry dish. Always easy to get a table, never usually too crowded. Takeout from here is always hot when it’s delivered - definitely recommend!
Great location, atmosphere, and service. The food was excellent, really hit my hunger spot. The place was so chill, I couldn't stay for hours. My drink however, was a margarita and I believe it was the margarita mix that made the drink taste cheap, I could not finish the it. Other than that, I really enjoyed the restaurant and will return but will order a different drink.
Love this place. Will miss it as we move out of the city. Order from the secret menu! Pad thai omelet is the best!
Delicious! Get the Prink King Crispy Pork
I found myself in the area with an hour plus between appointments. the food is okay. not super spiced, almost under seasoned. fast service and the waiter leaves you be but looks over at you. a decent lunch spot, lots of street park, fast service, decent enough food, inexpensive for lunch.
Really nice food and excellent service, in a laid back atmosphere with lots of room. Good spot for lunch meetings.
Love their lunch specials. They are always so pleasant, quick, and stuff the to go boxes with so much food.
Authentic Thai food that doesn't attempt to cater to adjust its traditional cuisine to the American palette.
Favorite Thai food in the neighborhood!
Cute space, love the Thai movie posters! Very friendly and fast service. Food was good.
Outstanding Thai restaurant in Chicago! I went after some Thai friends recommended it, and it does not disappoint!

Definitely a place you will want to come back!
Great bang for the buck, some of the tastiest Thai food I've had in the area. It's awesome that they have a bar, too- the cocktails are unique and delicious.
I used to love Tac Quick but the quality is in serious decline. Everything is overpriced and quite flavorless. Ordered the Tom Yum soup with pork - it was basically hot water with rubbery, flavorless pork. Unfortunately this was my last time ordering from Tac Quick.
The best Thai in Chicago.
The good is great, the restaurant is a really nice environment. The lunch special is perfect. Go try it!
Ordered the basil duck and chicken lettuce wraps. The duck was average and the chicken was so stringy and fatty that you couldn't chew it. I wish they would charge extra per entree and ensure the ingredients are better. I would rather have excellent food than fancy cocktails.
Best thai restaurant ive tried!!! I have loved everything ive tried here. The tom kha soup is very flavorful, and the calamari is just the perfect batter…i cant get enough!
Super-fast meal prep, a wide tea selection, a full bar (we didn't drink, but the patrons looked like they were enjoying themselves) and the crispy tofu appetizer was awesome. Get it with chili sauce.
Great lunch specials. Though what they call a spring roll is a salad roll and not to my particular taste, would definitely try them again as their food was amazing!
Amazing food and super fast service. Very nicely decorated. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Overall great place for dinner and drinks.
We placed an order for delivery at 6:10pm-we are only 4 min walking distance from the restaurant. It’s 7:50pm-we still haven’t received our food. Very disappointed.
Always good.
Small but nice lunch menu. I wish I could have chosen a dinner option in lunch portions. I like this space better than when they were around the corner.
Massaman curry is good
This may very well be my all-time favorite restaurant. It's always unbelievably delicious. I don't visit Chicago as often as I'd like but Tac Quick is absolutely a must stop. Many native Chicagoans don't seem to know about this place but everyone should support this amazing restaurant that hasn't lost any of it's luster despite the neverending pandemic that has lead to severe declines at other restaurants. I ate dinner at Tac Quick two nights in a row and would love to eat there everyday if I lived in Chicago. This is the #1 best restaurant! You can't go wrong here. My advice is visit on an empty stomach and enjoy!
Pad Thai was average but the crispy pork red curry dish was the most delicious curry I have ever eaten. I want to drink that curry and eat it every day. We also had the egg roles and cucumber salad which was good along with a Thai beer that was refreshing. I'm definitely returning!
Enjoyed the food and the great air conditioning! It was not crowded and the wait staff was superb!!!
MY FAVORITE THAI RESTAURANT!!! This place is seriously the best! I’ve gotten take out multiple times and everything has always been so delicious! My most recent visit, I dined in with my sister and we sat on their patio with our pup. We had martinis (lychee & sake); Moo ping (chicken skewers), grilled squid, spicy basil fried rice, peanut curry with noodles instead of rice(one of the best dishes I’ve ever eaten). For dessert we had some lemon cake, which I will definitely be ordering again the next time I visit! I’ve never ordered food that didn’t taste amazing and the staff is always so sweet! Unfortunately, because the food was so amazing I ate it too quick and forgot to take pictures, but I will post a pic of the pup having an enjoyable time at Tac quick :D
Great lunch specials and very reasonably priced. Big fan of the pad Thai and garlic chicken
After the very bad experience with another "Thai" place. This was such a pleasant surprise!!! I loved that they have a secret menu and in there was Hainan chicken one of my favorite Thai cuisine dish. They were out lol but I got garlic chicken and my bf got Duck curry, what a delightful meal we had. The garlic chicken was so good, my boyfriend asked me to swap as he enjoyed it a lot. I ate the rest of his duck curry, which had fruit and he is not a fan of fruit in salty dishes. I cleaned the bowl. It was a perfect combination of spice, curry and sweetness. I will go back and try to get the Hainan chicken but won't be mad if I get the curry again. Ok Drinks! Omg Cucumber tini. It was freaking amazing, I had the lychee tini it was good just too sweet for my taste. Good service, good food, good drinks, this is a gem in the neighborhood. Please try I recommend and will take my friend and family when the visit me!
For the most part, food is always good here. I've ordered the pad thai, pad see ewe, khao soi, chicken satay, and larb chicken salad. My order today was NOT good, so I'm wondering if there's a new person in the kitchen. The larb salad tasted awful (not much flavor, but the flavor it did have was not good), and kao soy wasn't cooked properly (chunks of undercooked noodles). Normally this place is great, so I'm gonna pretend this didn't happen.
Fresh Thai experience with outdoor seating to enjoy the beautiful weather.
Great food
We had the lunch special Pad Thai with spring rolls, Pad See Ew with egg roll, Banana in Blanket and Thai tea. Everything was great! Could be a little more spicy but that was easy fix with chili paste they gave us. Tea was perfect, just like what I had in Thailand. Pad Thai was very flavorful and had just the right amount of sprouts (some places only give a tiny bit). Pad See Ew was also just like what we had in Thailand, like drunken noodles, super yummy! Definitely coming back, especially with it being the best deals of Thai food in Chicago!
Great Thai spot and one in our regular rotation for takeout. My favorite is the green curry with pork and my wife’s is the spicy stir fried basil (Kra phrao kai yeow ma). The Tom yum is also tasty and great for a winter warm up. Very efficient and easy for takeout despite always being at least one other person picking up food too. Lunch specials are also a great value if you’re working from home on a weekday.
Come for the food, stay for the amazing movie posters
Good selection of Thai food, moderately priced.
Delicious pad Thai! Also loved their drunken noodles. They have a pretty good lunch special and the servers are always so pleasant when we pick up our order. Big fans!!
One of my favorites, I use to live by here and I miss it!!!
Reasonably priced and quite delicious. The dishes especially the soups preserve the simplicity of the thai cuisine and taste good. Unlike quite a few of the Asian restaurants, the quality and treatment of the meat/protein used is pretty good, not the highest quality like in a star restaurant, but still very good value for money. Recommended.
I love living so close to this location. Great Thai food with a lot of specials. Well worth the buck to eat in for the lunch prices vs. the dinner prices. They even let my girlfriend eat some Subway while I ordered Thai (since she’s not a fan of Thai food, but I am in love with it)! Looking forward to tasting their food again soon
Terrible. Disgusting. Gone down hill for sure from when I went in January.
good food
There was a long hair in one of my basil rolls. Really gross, couldn't finish the meal after that. Chicken pad Thai was below average and the Thai iced coffee was the sweetest I've ever had, waaaaaay too sweet. Won't order from here again.
Went here on 9/13/2020 and their Covid protocols were pretty good! Decently sized outdoor seating, disposable plates/utensils, masks, and sanitizer available. Service was great and the food came out very quickly. We had the spring rolls and Pad See Ew (Drunken Noodles) which were both tasty and decently priced. The noodles were not overwhelming packed with filler veggies which was great! Cocktails were sub $10 and well made. Definitely will return and try other things from the menu.
My favorite spot for Thai food! LOVE the decor and aesthetic! Staff is always so friendly!
Food is top notch! Just moved into the neighborhood and have tried something new everyday for the past three days- going in again today! You honestly can’t go wrong with anything on their menu!
They’re doing a great job following Covid precautions and the food is always piping hot so be careful!
Really cute restaurant. Not expensive, very interesting menu. Food came quick and was good. I felt the tables needed cleaning and the weeds needed to be pulled. The bathrooms were clean.
Amazing food & great service
The food here is tasty. Some days are better than others but still worth trying.
I went with Thai friend and we both loved the food. TAC has an extensive menu and some cool craft cocktails. They followed all the COVID restrictions withiut compromising on the service. I am gonna be regular here. 100%
No Som Tum on a Saturday during lunch...ok, not a big deal but kinda unexpected. Ordered Tom Kha Gai soup w sticky rice and also Larb Gai. The soup tasted like tomato soup - was not rich and creamy. Mushrooms were raw and not soft. The sticky rice was likely a day old - looked like porridge. Inedible / that's a hard thing to screw up. Lastly the Lard Gai was off / served on a bed of spinach - lived in Thailand 6 years. Never had food like this before.
Wife got the Kao Soy and I went with the Jungle Curry. Both were very good. Flavors were great and we ordered online and picked it up after a 25 minute walk. Are it at home and it was still nice and hot. Great flavor. Only reason not 5 stars was I ordered spicy and it feels like it was white guy spicy. Come on, bring the heat next time.
great value on the lunch specials, and a really delicious "secret menu" of more authentic Thai cuisine that you don't find in a lot of other places
Always tasty! Have tried the crab rangoon, spring roll, pad thai, pad see ew, pad woon sen, and panang noodles: all delicious! Good portions and price for noodles.
Always great food here, one of my favorites!
Some people love this place. I don't get it. I think it's fine, but the flavors always seem a little thin. Maybe it's just that the vegetarian dishes aren't their strength. I haven't had anything truly bad here, but I've also never had anything that blew me away, either. Very friendly, and take-out has always been ready on time.
Simply delicious dishes here, and much more authentic than your typical Thai restaurant. While the non-secret menu is quite good, be adventurous and try something from the secret menu; your bravery will be rewarded. Highly recommend the shrimp paste rice with mix-ins.
Great food for a reasonable price. Not the widest selection of beverages but service was great and not too crowded during peak hours on a Friday night
Best Thai food in the City!
Should have taking the sign when we were the only table in the whole restaurant.. food here are way below average, some we couldn’t even finish. Nothing seem fresh, and customer service were also non existent.. We will not be coming back here. Very disappointed!
Delicious Thai;)
Service started very slowly but eventually improved. Food not as spicy as they indicate, but still tasty.
Service started slow, but improved greatly. Try the fish cakes appetizer!
Best potstickers
Had the chinese broccoli. Nice and spicy. Would try the curry on the next visit.
Time to revisit my review oct 2019. Sadly After several issues spanning several visits I can not recommend any longer esp for takeout
I really enjoy the food at Tac and the pricing is fair as well. Dining in is low key and comfortable and take out is quick and easy and fresh as well. I tried their delivery service for the first time recently and one of my appetizers was not what I ordered. It took at least an hour to arrive and although still good, it was just not as good as every other time I have dined in or did take out. Never the less...this is one of my favorite Thai places in town!!
I’ve been going to this place for years. It used to offer good food decent prices and fine service. I noticed things started going downhill once they moved to the new location a few years back. Smaller portions, questionable customer service and food started to taste different. On my last visit, 2 out of 4 entrees that we ordered we couldn’t finish. One tasted really bad and the other one was served with a hair in it. When we addressed it to the waitress she smiled, said one word ‘sorry’ and left. We also had to go grab a jar of water from their cart because she seemed not to be very interested in our table. The place was completely empty (I wonder why..) and we could hear the staff laugh at the bar the whole time we were there. We’ll never be back!
My son picked up my order and it wasn't what I had ordered. the only solution they offered was for me to return the order and have the correct one made. I'm using a walker and found this unacceptable. They deliver so they could have picked it up and delivered the correct item. They are located very close to my address.
Excellent food!
My serving portion was normal.
Not busy when we arrived so our food came within 5 minutes or so.
Indoor/outdoor seating available.
Good place for kids. Our kids will eat anything and are not picky!
Con: BE WARNED: They add a 20% tip automatically to your bill. I didn’t see that on the menu. Misleading business practice if you tell me! That is why I rated them a 3/5.
First time in! Tried the Duck Curry and it was a great time! Can’t wait to come back and try more things.
Update: Came back and tried the Thai Beef Salad! Spicy 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 but soooooooo good! Great balance of flavors with the cilantro and mint. I’m gonna try and tackle the full secret menu before having anything twice.
This place is really tasty. Quality beef and noodles. Please try their peanut sauce!
It's very good and would be five stars but unfortunately they switched out the margaritas from freshly made to premixed. The change wouldn't have been so disappointing if the first round wasn't there delicious fresh ones and the second round was premixed. Food is great and fresh margaritas but they'll switch it up on you out of nowhere
I love this place and used to order almost weekly. My favorite dishes were the gyozo, panang curry, and the mild curry.
Whether dining in or getting take out, the food is great every time. My wife and I have been here several times and keep coming back.
The food here is good and the atmosphere is cool but I did not get enough food with my meal
Fantastic Thai food. Great lunch menu. Exceptional taste and value. Highly recommend
Buena atención y comida
We love Tac Quick - rarely too crowded, inexpensive drinks, and great food!! It’s perfect for a casual date night.
I would feel bad leaving one star, but this place needs to get it together. I've been there a few times because it's so close to me, but each time it's gotten worse and I won't be going back. Thai quick means you should eat it really quick so you can't taste it. They clearly don't clean their pans between cooking because my chicken fried rice tasted like expired fish which made me feel sick, as I'm allergic to most sea food and shell fish. Not to mention on top of that it was very mushy like something you would feed to a baby. This is definitely a roulette place. I've had decent food from there 1/3 times.
Amazing Thai food! I loved the Thai movie posters on the wall. Super neat eatery. Worth checking out!
Parking is available
I've been going here fairly regularly for a couple years now. It's still good, but it's gone a bit downhill, I'm sorry to say--they're cutting a few corners, I think. Here's hoping they turn that around.
Still, they're hard to beat in this neighborhood. You should definitely consider ordering off of the "secret menu," which has more interesting choices than you find at a typical American Thai restaurant. They have a full bar with decent beer and wine selections.
Got a couple of lunch specials from here. Fresh tasting ingredients and very tasty.
The curry fried rice is my favorite thing I've ever eaten 😍😍😍
Thai food is delicious here
get it for take out.
Amazing food
Fire
It's not the best Thai food. Most dishes are tangy.
Awesome martinis and cocktails
