Since moving to a new part of the city a little over a year ago, Chim Thai has become my go-to Thai place for takeout and eating in. Having worked in Thai restaurants before, I can say the food is authentic, tasty, evenly high-quality, and very affordable! The mango sticky rice is also incredible—get it if they have it. Delivery is also very quick, food usually arrives within 30 minutes of placing an order.

I’ve only ordered delivery and the food is delicious. My favorite is the Chim Tom Yum fried rice with the house made spicy sauce. Haven’t had anything like that and I’ve ordered it 3x in two weeks. Ordered the crab Rangoon once and the housemade sweet and sour sauce had me trying to get every last drop. It’s not overly sweet and a bit tangy which I love. Prices are incredibly fair and I can’t wait to try everything on the menu.

Easily the best pad Thai on the north west side. Paired with marinated beef - I destroyed it. My most recent visit, I got orange chicken with fried rice. Chicken was slightly over cooked but the orange sauce has great flavor. Wonderful staff as well!!

I have mixed feelings when it comes to this place.

We ordered crab Rangoon for a starter and though it was tasty, they were skimpy rangoons, not stuffed well enough so it was more like crunching on fried dough. The homemade vinegar chili sauce they served us on the side was terrific. I ordered the green curry with tofu as protein. The curry sauce was fine, the tofu was fresh and a good amount but they skimped on the veggies. I literally got about 4 chunks of eggplant, a couple threads of basil and a few shards of lemongrass in my dish. Not impressed.

My friend ordered basil rice, and again, while his was tasty, it was basically rice with some basil, some tofu and hardly any actual veggies on the plate. Skimpy again.

I was pumped to try this place based on reviews and though the food was fresh and tasty it lacked actual ingredients ie color, variety, and portion size. I know we are living in economic squirrely times but come on...

And I'm a big Thai food fan.

They have a variety of delicious dishes (including vegan) for all seasons, are fast and organized with takeout, and the restaurant is such a warm and inviting place to sit down and enjoy a meal - thanks in part to the vibes, as well as the welcoming staff!

This is a new review, 8/8/24. I order food from Chim Thai about 3-4 × month. I love their Spicy Basil Leaf entree with chicken, Pad Thai, and their Nam Tok Nuar. Today, they sent me a gift, from their recent vacation. It is an elephant keychain. Elephants are very special to me. I couldn't be happier with my gift and always my food! Thank you so much, you made my day with your kindness.

Best thai tea in Chicago hands down. Worth the price. Food was ready when they said it would be. Wished my curry dish would have been spicier. I ordered medium+. The flavor was spot on though. Fried spring rolls had an awesome dipping sauce that had a super unique flavor. I will definitely be getting those next time

Just got takeout at this place and was pleasantly surprised by the food. They truly have some of the best tasting curry I've ever had in Chicago. The flavor is absolutely bussin and I was placed in a state of heaven while enjoying this meal. The prices and portion sizes are also great! I ordered delivery, and this was some of the worst Thai food I’ve ever had. I used to order from Roseded and also a place on western. Now I cannot find a decent Thai place to save my life.

I don’t know how this place has a high rating!? The pad se ew was bland and not even tasting Thai like. The beef friend rice was totally disappointing, the crab Rangoon was chewy and poorly cooked, not crispy.

We got takeout so I can't speak to the quality of service, but this was the worst Tiger Cry I've ever had. The beef tasted low quality and/or overcooked. It was very dry. Pretty disappointed considering all the positive reviews and the description of the dish ("tender, grilled to perfection") lol. Papaya salad and pad see ew were decent though.

여기는 진짜 맛집이다. 팟타이, 팟씨유, 파인애플 볶음밥, 비프 쌀국수, 똠얌 국수를 먹어봤다. 배가 별로 고프지 않은 상태에서 갔는데 전부 맛있었다. 시카고 다음에 오게 되면 꼭 다시 가고 싶을 정도다. 간도 잘 맞고 가격도 저렴한 편이다. 강추!!!

점심을 배불리 먹고도 정말 맛있게 먹었습니다. 부모님도 만족하면서 먹었습니다. 향이 엄청 강하지 않고 누구나 먹기 적당하고 배불러서 더 못먹은게 아쉬울정도였습니다.

Highly recommend the Pad Thai and Green Curry. I usually order “medium spicy” and they nail it on the spice. Also the mango sticky rice and banana sticky rice are awesome for desert. They even throw in free egg rolls if you order a few dishes. You can eat there - it’s a no frills low-key type of place and the service is excellent. Great spot.

Went here for an early dinner this week and the space is super cute with great service. The food was great. Got the Pineapple Fried Rice and a noodle dish with 2 apps and we killed it all. Our Waiter was super attentive and all around a great experience. Moving to the area and can't wait to make this my go-to takeout place as well!

Delicious food. We love the chive dumplings crispy and they make sum tom without fish sauce. Only thing missing was the northern thai dishes I love. The decor was ok and the place was dead when I visited but it was the Superbowl so I get it. I would go back for sure.

Since long time classic Rosded closed, it’s difficult to find authentic Thai. Their dishes aren’t loaded with sugar and the flavors (sweet, salty, sour) balance perfectly. We are glad Chim Thai has opened! I personally think the Chinese dishes aren’t necessary.

This place opened about a year ago, and my wife and I have probably been here over 20x. Some of the better Thai in the city, reasonable prices and the owner’s very friendly. Most recently, I showed a bit early for my pickup order and he offered me hot tea on the house while I was waiting. 5/5 stars easily!

Ordered carry out, it took 15 minutes and we had their ginger tea as we waited. Delicious!! I ordered combo fried rice, cashew chicjen, spicy vegetable stir fry, panang curry with chicken, chicken satay, larb kai, and got free eggrolls. Everything tasted so fresh, down to the chicken! I can't tell you how excited I am to have this amazing restaurant so close to me, and it's honestly the best tasting Thai I have had in a long time. Other places near here have chicken that taste like rubber. The gentleman who took care of us was so friendly, the place was cozy, and the food was so flavorful and filling! Please keep up the quality, you have a fan forever!! Can't wait to go back!

I ordered take out this evening and walked over to pick it up. As soon as I walked in, the person behind the counter acknowledged me and asked if I was there for a pickup. I paid a reasonable low price for my order. I was early, so sat down for a bit. He brought me tea to drink while I waited, very cool.

Soon enough, he brought the food out and I walked home. The food was delicious, hot, and carefully packaged. I will surely be back.

Amazing, the food was just delicious, we had to have 2 of their sesame chicken because with one wasn’t enough, we also had their cashew nut on beef I ate all of it, if I had been on a date this wouldn’t be the plate to “pretend that you eat little” let’s not forget their Thai iced coffee, oh god! It made my bf cheat on his keto diet cause it has sugar in it, but it was worth it, every sip out of it. Definitely coming back. Highly recommend

My husband and I had a perfect little afternoon date here. Our soups were piping hot and very flavorful. The portion seemed larger than a standard cup of soup which I obviously did not mind. We order take out from this place and has been the go to for thai takeout. Competes with any establishment on Western, which I thought was the only destination for REALLY good Thai. The Chef's specials are fantastic, the pad thai and pad see ew are some of the best we've had, and of course they have those really good crab rangoons stuffed and chewy. The family favorite though is the basil fried rice, it just has a deep depth of flavor not found in other fried rices. Really a great addition to the neighborhood!

The minced basil had the best taste. The portions are a bit small per the price. Overall the food is average but the ingredients were fresh.

Excellent food and very kind service, I would definitely come here again and highly recommend for others to eat here. It’s a nice and cute place to enjoy your food

Great food at a great price with great service. We had gyoza, beef Pad Thai, and pineapple fried rice with chicken - and they were all so tasty. The mango fresh fruit freeze with tapioca was wonderful too. Definitely a new favorite spot.

Great lunch specials! Comes with a side of cucumber salad and a choice of a crispy side, I got an egg roll. There's a good selection of rice and noodle stir fry for lunch. I was more intrigued with the Chef's Special, a lot of entrees I don't typically see. Plenty of seating inside and a great addition to the neighborhood. So far a solid Thai place.

Soooo glad to have this neighborhood Thai restaurant just down the block from me. Everything I've tried has been delicious and very authentic flavors to Thailand.

I also love that many of the dishes on the menu are true, Thai home recipes. Many dishes you can't find at other Thai spots, who only cater to the popular dishes.
