Thai restaurant
It’s decent food for the price. Fresh and enough flavour. I liked the Korean wings. I also had a lunch menu with drunken noodles. Considering it’s a starter+main+drink for under 15$ it was a good choice, but don’t expect a lot of protein, unfortunately not even many veggies. But it tasted good. My partner had orange chicken, it did have orange taste and was in the sweetest side, I am not a fan of sweet but not spicy (although he is) so I personally can’t say I would order it for myself.
Amazing restaurant, I have been coming for years and they have stayed consistent.
I usually order crab rangoon, Pad See-Ew and their pineapple fried rice. I can be basic with my order but their food is certainly not. It’s flavorful and fresh, it’s a fun vibe with great service.
I hadn't eaten here since the revamp and rename of the place. Not sure if they're owned by new owners, but my friend and I were glad to have eaten here. It's small and could sit a small amount if folks plan to stay and eat, but lots of people order takeout. It seemed popular the night we went because there were many takeout orders. Everything was made to order, so be prepared to wait a little. The wait was well worth it! I had the panang chicken curry with rice, and my friend ordered the basil fried rice. Both were tasty and had the right amounts of flavor and spice. We also order gyoza soup and tom yum soup, which were perfect on a cold day. For drinks, I had the lemonade while my friend had the Thai iced tea. We ended dinner with mango sticky rice with a side drizzle of condense milk, and it was amazing! I highly recommend this place!
Food was decent in taste and reasonable in price. A bit tight on the spacing of the restaurant. Total of 2 tables. After eating, had to awkwardly get up and leave with girlfriends as the next group of people were already waiting right next to us (didn't have time to chat and relax a bit). Placed a generous tip as I had to pay in advance prior to receiving the food. But service was lacking and almost to none.
The food was ok. I say that based on extensive time in Thailand mainly the Isarn region where I have an apartment. Ironically the high end Thai restaurants in town are not as good as this little place so while I give a 3 the expensive places called Thai that are more like Chinese, Issues are, they want westerners to eat there! Go figure. What will bring me back to Che Thai was the customer service from , TK, Tiki very sweet, kind and helpful, she brightened my day. Kop Khun Krup! .
My wife and I went to this restaurant and were so disappointed. Here’s why.
The atmosphere: admittedly pretty cute! It has some fake plants around it with some soft music in the background. There’s no public bathroom though which is always a disappointment for a restaurant. It was 86 degrees according to their thermostat.
My food: a panang curry with tofu. While I got what I ordered I ended up only eating a little bit of it because of how bland it was. It was a coconut base with very little spice and it didn’t have the peanut flavoring that this curry is known for. Additionally I requested no bell peppers. Not only were they included but they also put tomatoes in my curry which was not stated on the menu.
I got some spring rolls that were pretty good! But after eating the other stuff the damage had already been done 😿
The Thai iced tea smoothie that I got was good but since it was so hot, it was already halfway melted when it got to me.
My wife’s food: they ordered a tom yum soup but what they got was a vegetable soup that lacked the sour flavors that the soup usually has. When they asked for glass noodles in the soup, they were charged for an extra entree of crispy noodles. This is a standard Thai dish!
Overall it feels like a fast food place but has the prices of a sit down restaurant.
The food is tasty and affordable, especially the lunch specials. The service for eating in is on an your phone and staff are friendly. This is a small restaurant and it's relaxed and casual. Easy to walk in and get a table on a Saturday at noon. There are veggie friendly options. Parking can be tricky on the weekends.
I recently tried Che Thai and, unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The service was good and quick, especially considering the walk-up window setup. However, the restaurant itself is quite small.
The vegetable egg rolls were a bright spot, as they were good and very fresh. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal fell short. The ribeye special was very tough and dry, with an odd flavor that tasted like celery salt had been sprinkled on top. The garlic beef was also very dry and tough, completely lacking in flavor. Adding soy sauce didn’t improve it.
The rice was very sticky, and for two entrees, we were only given one serving of white rice. Overall, the food was very poor, and I would not return to this restaurant.
Food is always on point! Service was good and they are very accommodating.
Amazing restaurant, I have been coming for years and they have stayed consistent.

the most bland stir fry i’ve ever tasted, the noodle dish also i don’t understand it’s like they forgot the sauce or something on both orders. such a bummer as i was waiting for it to be delivered and obviously excited. also barely any broccoli :(
This place is mediocre at best. It's a no-frills storefront where you order at the counter and your food arrives quickly. Little taste, unattractive presentation.
Super yummy food!!! I love the penang curry, crab rangoon, and thai tea. The restaurant itself is cute but it is more of a take out kind of place. I love this restaurant definitely come here!!
Had the lunch special. Excellent food for an excellent price point.
Great lunch special- try the drunken noodles 😍
Love it!! 🥰 First time and the Pad Thai hit the spot!! Very delicious and welcoming! 🤩🤩 Thank you!

It was so delicious we ate everything without taking pictures… we got Tom Yum, tom khah.
I’ve been coming here since last year since I move, and the cashew lomein with the combination is always my get go u less I’m feeling fried rice! With a side of gyoza or shumai! The coconut smoothie with tapioca always hits the spot on a sunny day, will always come back since the team that works there are very kind and patient:)
Curry was too less. This is my second experience in 2 months that the curry I got was less. I ordered Thai Yellow Curry with chicken.
THAI SLOP! … look elsewhere
I ordered the garlic chicken rice and mandarin chicken and was highly disappointed. 1) The garlic chicken rice did not have no garlic taste nor aroma. It tasted like regular chicken fried rice and further more it was not so fresh. 2) The mandarin chicken had a weird after taste and was flavorless. Only good thing about the experience was the politeness of staff.
Friendly service, great food, and a killer lunch special

The food was decent and reasonably priced, but the tight spacing and lack of service made the dining experience awkward and rushed.
Che Thai is a very good restaurant! Tasty and authentic food! This is our safe place to eat!
Always great service and accuracy!
Try the Crispy Panang Curry with Shrimp and get a side of rice or try the Orange Chicken!! With a Mango Smoothie or Lemongrass Lemonade. Fye 👌🏾!!!
Nice food & atmosphere! Love it!
Small restaurant with a few tables. Not much waiting room when ordering takeout
Good customer service. Food was not good and not worth the money.
The drunken noodles are $10 and are great!
Extremely good food loved it!

Easy dish, Thai comfort foods
The meal was incredibly delicious and the server was super nice. I will definitely come back when I come to Chicago again. The music and environment was relaxing. Great place! I recommend it 100%
The local is small, but cozy and clean. The service was very nice and welcoming and the food was amazing with a lot of veggie options. The prices are reasonable and affordable, especially for such a good quality, and we also got extra rice with no charge. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Lakeview. We had a great time.
Very unhappy with my Uber Eats experience. I ordered pad Thai with chicken spicy. Got wide noodles with brown sauce that was not pad Thai sauce, the correct ground peanut and sprouts topping for pad Thai, and absolutely zero spice. I would say it was less than mild. I don’t understand how this made it out of the kitchen. Not pleased.
Always delicious 😋
A hidden gem. Che Thai’s welcoming atmosphere’s great for solo dining or hanging out with friends. The flavors are rich and bright. The people are friendly. The music’s relaxing. Che Thai’s a great choice!
Very good food and even better people!
This place was great! Delicious too
We love panang curry, Thai iced tea and Thai iced coffee and of course the mango sticky rice! Wonderful staff. Place looks great after the refreshed interior design!
Good flavor, but swimming in oil. Small plates and expensive. Greedy
Used to eat here regularly until price increase with new owners a couple years ago. Seems like prices have lowered since then but food is different. Didn't taste as good but need to try more dishes; pad see ew was average and shoo mai was a little bland. Service was ok.
Costoso
I hadn't eaten here since the revamp and rename of the place. Not sure if they're owned by new owners, but my friend and I were glad to have eaten here. This is a little place with a great atmosphere, not a whole lot of tables but it's very classic in appearance. The person taking orders was very jovial and served with a smile. The food was fantastic and the music wasn't very loud. The decoration isn't over the top which I absolutely loved. They even agreed to exclude eggs from a fried rice item that we wanted but without eggs. I couldn't get over this place and highly recommend people to try it out.
Honestly, loved it. The lady at the counter was immediately inviting, so friendly, and promptly took my order. The aesthetic is adorable. I had been hesitant to try this place because other Google reviews were not as kind. Don't let them mislead you! I am so happy I tried this place out, as I'm a new Lakeview resident. The only other person in the restaurant was doing a TikTok live and reading the menu to their fans?? So please come support this small biz because they deserve for the place to be packed! 💜
I can honestly say this was the beat thai food I've ever had. I've been to many thai places all over the country and nothing beats this place. I'm not sure if the chef was in a great mood or what but the food was some of the best I've had (I got the green curry/eg rolls/ wonton soup/ ice coffee). The place was small yet very nice. I will 100% be coming back.
Food was so bland and the vegetables were still raw and crunchy. Not to mention the lack of seasoning on the general tsao chicken. The chicken was super stringy and chewy and kept getting stuck in my teeth and it actually ruined my molar tooth and have to go to the dentist since it cracked because of how chewy the chicken was. And it’s already a fake tooth. Which is going to take longer to fix. I most definitely won’t be coming back.
10 out of 10, a small fresh quality place with a cozy atmosphere. Staff was friendly and sweet I stoped in for lunch and they and on goza which was perfect. And the the tofu had a grilled taste in my dishes. 🔥
I got a take out Che Noodles, which was a stir-fried crispy noodle with brown sauce but the sauce was too sweet! It looked like the crispy noodles were deep fried and it’s too oily; it’s also been soaked in the brown sauce so it was over-sweetened. All in all very disappointing- wrong texture and wrong favor! I added on the bbq pork but it was too dry and hard to chew. I’d say this is the worst noodle dish I have in town so far! For god’s sake, shut it down!
Ordered through Uber eats. I asked for medium spicy, the second hottest option they have. They forgot to add any spice whatsoever. The chicken was gummy. Also the boba in the Thai iced tea was undercooked. The Tom yum was a small portion and no lemongrass taste. The chicken eggrolls were just ok. Would not order again
Last night we stopped by since we've noticed the rebranding of the place. We ordered Pad See-Eiw and Yellow Curry (both with chicken) for take out and minutes later we enjoyed both deliciously made dishes! Food was outstanding and honestly one of the best ones we had in Chicago.
Our only recommendations will go towards packaging - less plastic and more eco-friendly materials would be a great add-on!
We used to eat, or get food from this place all the time. But the owner retired, and the new owner higher the prices of food, taste is not the same. The new owner start charging for adding meat
It's a quick place for some spicy food. Not really my thing but the spring rolls were good. I think it cooked with the same stuff as their seafood since a friend had the same reaction he gets when he's near it. Not a good thing.

Overall it feels like a fast food place but has the prices of a sit down restaurant.
For the price and being a cute hole in the wall type place it's absolutely great. Super friendly staff and very delicious food. A mist go for a quick bite or a pickup delivery
Small space for dining in, food was good, staff were friendly
Great food, great service!!!!!
Lovely experience with the staff. Food was absolutely delicious. Recommended
Food was delicious but the sauce was a little too spicy for me. I wish they would cut the meat up a little more in the fried rice.
Happened to stop in cause we saw they had bubble tea. Staff was very friendly. Got a taro and mango which were both tasty and refreshing; exactly what I needed at the time.
What a gem! This place is amazing authentic, local and delicious. Don’t sleep on the beverages!!
Gonna have to give it another try. The space was nice and staff was friendly and wanted to share about their menu. The entree which was Fried Rice was not the best - not sure cause I got to go and it didn’t travel well? But mushy and too small pieces of beef. But the Rangoon was great (though probably frozen from a supplier). The wings were great! I would def get that again! Over is okay but will try another entree
Great food and friendly service!
Wish the tofu was more crispy but great vegetable selection in the vegetarian dishes. Can’t wait to go back and try more of their menu.
My first time. I ordered an array of things. I also have a culinary background and worked in fine dining restaurants.
I must say that the fried chicken wings are delicious and crispy. It has a little heat and love the the flavor. I also ordered the Tom yum fried rice and it packs flavor! The mandarin chicken is deliciously crispy! Loved it!
The crispy drunken noodles is flavorful. The next thing I got was the red curry with chicken. I am about to try the red curry atm and it’s on the lighter end of heat. Please go give this place a try. It’s really good! I give this place a 5/5 but remember food/flavor is subjective! I would order here again!
The inside is cute!
I've tried their Honeydew Smoothie, Thai Iced Tea and Curry Fried Rice with veggie rolls. I really like everything and especially liked the meat in the curry fried rice. I've always been a fan of Thai food and am glad I tried this place. It's one of the better restaurants in the area.
Hands down my favorite Thai restaurant in the area! I cannot recommend the Che Noodles or Panang Curry enough.
All rice, little meat. Ordered beef and shrimp, got 4 shrimp and 3 1x1” pieces of beef.
Had some of the drunken noodles and fried pad Thai. It was so delicious with a side of chili oil. It’s was great.
I love ordering from Che Thai! They have an easy online ordering system and the food has always been ready early for me. The staff is always so friendly and efficient when I pick up my order. I've tried a few different dishes here and they are all delicious. This is a great neighborhood spot if you are in the mood for some tasty Asian food!
Okay so I’m a smoothie fanatic. They all taste the same. Great. Lol
But this place does it different. And it’s pretty freakin awesome. Try it out. I love!
Me and my wife usually comes here. Love it!

I have been going to this place for a few years and have been greeted by 2 very nice woman and never had a problem, but I ordered today and I had asked for double chicken on my online order. I went to go pick up my order and noticed that there were some new workers in there. I got charged for double chicken but only got a normal serving with an endless amount of rice. I would make sure to not get double meat from this place because they will just charge you for the double meat but not actually give you double meat.
Food cause (curry or some side dishes) diarrhea, flatulence, stomache. Dont order that
Agree with the reviews. I have lived in this neighborhood and was excited about this place but the food is terrible and overpriced (for the lack of quality and small quantities). People are very nice though 🙄
Amazing Thai place! Just discovered walking by since it’s about a block from my home! Got the Cashew Lo-Mein with Chicken!
Really wanted to like this place since it’s close to the house. Green curry was pure sugar water and curry paste. Solid let down. The crying tiger was unseasoned hammered beef. The egg rolls were fine but you can tell they are prefabricated, which hey I’m not knocking but I can air fry those at home. Won’t be coming back. The people who work there were super nice, wish the food held up the standard.
We saw the recent remodeling and decided to stop in. Very glad we did! The food was tasty and the staff were so friendly. Definitely going to be a repeat for us in the neighborhood.
Okay so I really like Thai food. There’s just great spices and flavors that really excite the tastebuds. I ordered the Panang Curry and loved it. We got food to go and it was out within 15 minutes.
The woman working the cashier was one of the most positive people I have ever met. She was extremely welcoming and full of energy. It really made for a great experience here and I hope to come back again soon.
Got the cashew lo mein and garlic black pepper chicken for carry out, both were very flavorful and will definitely be back to try more stuff. Only problem was that the chicken was from the breast so it dries out a lot specially for carry out, something like thigh would be way better, or better pick a different protein option.
Decent Thai food, fresh but not spicy enough, not hot spicy but flavorful. However, the chicken pot stickers are delicious!!!
Food is absolutely amazing and the people here are so sweet and friendly!
We've just moved to the area and we've already eaten here 3 times. The food is REALLY good and the young staff are so I nice and happy for your business. I highly recommend the Che Noodles.
I’ve come to this place for a year and was excited to see the new renovations as the food has been great. I always order the same thing however now when I get my box of rice that comes with curry it is only half full =\ I have to now make extra rice at home to enjoy with my meal
Decent pad Thai but really pricey for the portions. A lower end place.
Che Thai is amazing! The new owner and staff are some of the friendliest people I've met in Chicago. The food is top quality, always. Crab Rangoon and Chicken Pad Thai are my favorites!
We had food here couple of times, food is tasty and flavorful. Must try!
The best place in town for AUTHENTIC Thai food. I've had a lot of so called "Authentic" Thai food, which really was just glorified Chinese food labeled as Thai. This restaurant serves truly authentic Thai food which feels like mom/ grandmas cooking. I get takeout probably about once a week! the staff is always so friendly and enthusiastic. You can tell they are passionate and genuinely happy to be serving their community with their cooking! You can feel their energy and the love in the dishes! would 100% recommend!
Y’all this food is excellent and so reasonably priced. New ownership is awesome!
Super delicious. First time going since they opened and was impressed by the tenderness of the beef. Loved the yellow curry too.
The new team at Che Thai is awesome! I've gotten several lunch specials and the black pepper chicken (spicy) is my favorite so far. I'll be be back soon.
IGNORE ALL REVIEWS FROM OVER A YEAR AGO!!!! UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT!!!!
Best place to get legitimately authentic and affordable and amazing Thai dishes. They are professional, kind and extremely talented chefs!!
Delicious!!! My favorite place in the neighborhood.
Che Thai is a decent place, but I don't like it as much as Asian Mix, the previous restaurant at this location. There aren't any curries on the menu as of August 2022, which seems a bit odd for a Thai place, but the wok noodles are good, at least. They're friendly as well, so I can still recommend them and we'll be back. (But I miss the delicious and rich curries of Asian Mix.)
Che Thai recently took over the space of Asian Mix and Che Thai is a solid replacement! The space has been freshened up with new decor and a new menu and it feels much more modern and updated.
On my recent visit I ordered Che Noodle with Chicken and the Crying Tiger salad for takeout. The new owners and staff are super friendly and the food was delicious and freshly made. I can't wait to try more of the new menu and their boba smoothies!
So delicious and people are soooo nice!! Very cheap and reliable 🥰
Good food
Che Thai (the new name)
Now under new ownership. The new owner TK has Thai heritage and really knows what she’s doing.
I travel to Thailand frequently and this restaurant reminds of trips to Bangkok for the great street food. I had Pad Thai with extra spice, my bride got the vegetarian and gluten-free option of the same. We both really liked the food. They even gave us a small free spring roll appetizer. Again very good food.
But it was the happy helpful workers that really made our day. Both were native to Thailand and had the famous ever pleasant attitude and smiles. Since they have lived in. Chicago for years, no language barriers exist. But it was fun using my limited Thai to speak with them both.
We plan to go back often, for the great food, great prices, and great service/smiles.
Amazing food, & the pretty girls hook me up all the time.
Watch out for the pad Thai, they literally used ketchup in the noodles. Orange chicken was average
The food was yummy and most importantly the people working here are SO nice!
I’m leaving the neighborhood and gotta give this place a shout out before I go. The curries are amazing, and their lunch deal can’t be beat. Any night I wasn’t sure what to get, Asian Mix came through. The owners are really sweet people too. Gonna miss this place!
Budget friendly. Best chicken fried rice in the area. Lunch specials don’t skimp on the portion size either. I always get the chicken fried rice lunch special with vegetable gyoza
Great family restaurant! Awesome service and great food. Prices are great too. Will be back
Great local place with a decent range of food. No dining spaces inside and very small interior. Regardless, nice staff and good food. Decent prices too.
Good affordable thai food, clean kitchen and fresh prep. Simple, friendly and functional. Recommended
Meh.... Not a cheap place given the size of the portions. Totally was expecting more than a small container for each entire that I ordered. Do I think $41.00 with tip was a good value - NOPE. Wasn't as tasty as I would have expected. Expect to pay more than what you get with this place. Delivery guy was nice though.
Top notch Thai food! We drive an hour and a half into the city to get this wonderful cuisine. The folks who run this restaurant are super friendly and attentive!
Lots of vegan options. Good food, good prices, and orders are made pretty quickly. Some of the best Thai curry I've had.
Authentic Thailand food
Very, very good food. What I ordered was lighter in flavor than what I'm used to getting from similar takeout in the area—but that made it all taste better, I think. Everything tasted and looked very fresh and nothing was too salty or too sweet! The portions are smaller than you may be accustomed to as well, but not in a bad way—everything was the perfect size for a meal. Everything was packed and garnished with extreme care.
I was helped by an older couple who were both very kind. After I left with my order, I realized a bubble tea was forgotten—which was understandable since it wouldn't be packed in with my hot food. I went back to get it and I was generously given two bubble teas as an apology. I insisted there was zero harm done, but it did really make my day after a rough workday. :)
Great taste and great owner
Yummy! Highly recommend this place. The food is delicious and the service phenomenal. The kindest people here
Great thai food and service. Highly recommended.
This place is so quaint and cute! The food is stellar and the people who work here are always in the best mood. Such a gem in Rogerspark! 😌
This quaint restaurant is run by an old sweet couple with delicious and very reasonably priced items. Their large menu has great options like their Thai style BBQ Pork Fried Rice or their Crispy Kung Pao Chicken. Their Lunch Special is a really good deal for $7.95 at the time, so I recommend everyone stopping to give them a try.
I think in truth, this place is very humble. The dining area and atmosphere is nothing praise worthy, and the food is nothing new. And there'a nothing wrong with that.
The place looks sketchy as hell from the outside and it’s no better on the inside. The food was decent but since they put zero effort into what it looks like i. e it looks like a construction site on the inside it makes you question the “food safety standards” though I have no knowledge about how good or bad they are. I won’t eat here again
Nice clean small restaurant good smoothies I had the fried shrimp big and delicious
The Curry Chicken Fried Rice is my favorite Spicy is the way to go.
I spent a bit of time here. As I remember the laksa is not great (more a yellow curry) but the stir frys are OK. If you've got to be in the area and need a feed, these guys are far from the worst place to go.
I come for the lunch special. Small, family owned place. My fave
amazing thai food. very personal whrn they serve.
Cute little Mom and Pop cafe, great Thai food.
Very good food😋
great customer service and food...
I have visited Asian Mix Cafe many times during the past 10 years. My companion and I were delighted with the food and the service today at this restaurant. PRD
Great food. The place smells fantastic, and the food is delicious.
Best Asian food I’ve had in Chicago and it’s not even close! Very fair prices as well.
This is my go-to budget friendly Asian restaurant in Chi. They have a wide variety of Asian cuisine. I stick to the Thai stuff. Prices are great and so is food. I always get the papaya salad and green curry. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. My friend got the pineapple rice and she loved it. Staff is friendly as well. Prefect lunch or lunner spot to go to after spending some time at the rocks. Looking forward to the next time I get to enjoy their food and service again.
Been going here for years; never had a disappointing experience. Tiny place with great character!! I always order the chicken skewers as an app. I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone in the north side, and they deliver.
Simple and classic Asian cuisine. A little pricey but this small shop earns that money with its many flavorful dishes. Sweet elders who run the shop!
I love the thai ice tea bubble tea and noodle dishes like pad see ew and pad woon sen. The cooks are really nice and will come out and talk to you.
This was our go to Thai place in Chicago! We are sad to have moved away, I miss their green curry and Rama delight! Always friendly staff, quick service, consistently delicious.
I called to express that the order was wrong and that it’s happened many times before and she hung up on me after years of loyal service. I feel disappointed and upset because they never even offer to rectify the situation like we will replace it or give you this dish next time..
Just disappointed because I enjoyed the place and the food but when mistakes happen and your order I think the owner should fix especially if you were there for 30 mins one time helping them with who to contact to fix their websitehours which are wrong.
Food is kind of bland, not spicy or anything if you like that, place is small clean nice people like a mom pop owner type cute. Not sure if I would go again as I like spicy flavorful food but it's nice
Excellent Thai food! Get the fried tilapia which has a delicious salsa on top of it.
The best hole in the wall! Great food!
Great Thai iced tea!
Have only tried the smoothies & they were delicious. Would definitely come back.
Always fantastic service and food.
Great food
Food is very good. Nice people.
Always good and always consistent. Friendly owners love to see you, very welcoming. Good value for lunch specials and authentic recipes.
