Stylish eatery serving sushi, pho & familiar Thai mains, including curry, in modern surrounds.
My family and I visited here during our quick trip to Brunswick. I really wish I could remember our server name because he was great. The food was good and the drinks were delicious. The atmosphere was nice, too. I ordered the New Zealand lamb chops, salmon roll, and Thai fried rice.
I had the lunch sushi. It was a spicy tuna roll that was pretty good. It's a pretty uneventful pick so I didn't expect anything outstanding or terrible -- it met expectations. I also had their pho will brisket. I prefer Vietnamese pho over Thai pho and I'm not shy about that. But this Thai pho was pretty darn good. The broth was flavorful and not too sweet which is often found in Thai pho. The noodles were a little thicker than I prefer but all around a solid bowl of pho well worth the price. The size of the meats were large and they did not skimp on the vegetables.
Great lunch spot!
Dumplings were delicious, loved the sauce!
Salmon was perfectly cooked! The green sauce has a bit of spice to it, but it was very good.
My daughter inhaled the hibachi chicken and rice!
The chicken and noodles were also a hit, my husband loved them!
The red velvet cheesecake was AMAZING!
Will go again!
We stopped in here for lunch over the weekend in downtown Brunswick.
The place has more ambiance than we were expecting. Quick service and good food.
We ordered the basil chicken and the Thai fried rice from the lunch menu. Both were quite good, but there were only a few bits of pineapple in the rice.
Good serving size and a tasty meal.
I'd recommend this place and we'll definitely return.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.4 stars
Nice place that has great Thai food prepared perfectly. I ordered a mussamum curry and it was delicious! I found the seating plan unusual: there were a few booths but the floor space was full of small tables placed end to end. This meant that when it got crowded, you might be sitting next to strangers.
Amazing food, excellent service, and very attentive personnel. Beautiful place ❤️
I think maybe a bit pricey but well worth it. And having been married to a Thai at one point in my life, I can affirm that the food will be as authentic as it can get.
the best thai food. i love coming here for lunch or dinner. it’s a little higher priced but the quality shows.
"Lobster" sushi roll was fake crab...smh
Great hibachi steak!

Super awesome food and drinks
After several days of cooking at home, we ordered delivery from Basil Thai through DoorDash. Despite paying premium delivery fees and including a driver tip with our order, we received only 2 of our 5 ordered dishes. My attempts to contact the delivery driver via text went unanswered.
When I called Basil Thai, they informed me our complete order was still awaiting pickup. After being placed on hold, the staff member and manager insisted this was solely a DoorDash issue and refused to take any responsibility or arrange delivery. When I pointed out that DoorDash couldn't have picked up an order without the restaurant's release, the manager remained dismissive and repeatedly told me to contact DoorDash instead.
As a business owner myself, I find this level of customer service unacceptable. While I rarely leave negative reviews, the restaurant's complete unwillingness to help resolve the situation or take any ownership of the problem leaves me no choice. I gave them multiple opportunities to address the issue, but their dismissive attitude and lack of customer care means they've lost my business permanently.
Good Pho, great service! Everyone enjoyed their meal at the table
A good place to visit. Never had a bad experience here. Food and service always "Top Shelf"
Great service and food. Establishment might consider changing bulbs in dining area to soft white to cut harsh atmosphere in the dining room.
Best Thai in the area.
I had an excellent seafood pho which I enjoyed very much. My family's food was good too. Service was acceptable and the atmosphere is decent. I'll definitely go back if I'm in the area again..
I highly recommend they lamb chop some of the best I've ever had. They are marinated for 24 hrs and cook to perfection

Great place with very good food !
The food is AMAZING!!!…This was our first time eating here…The service was excellent and atmosphere pleasant. I believe Caleb was our server. He was very nice and made our dinner very enjoyable. We’ll be dining here again very soon!!!
I’ve been here multiple times and never been disappointed! The atmosphere is calming and the staff is absolutely the sweetest. I hands down recommend this establishment to everyone I meet.
The place automatically tags on a 10% gratuities for takeout even without telling you beforehand.
Went in there to get my food. It was ready and hot. Great food
I spent almost
200 dollars not including the tip wasn’t impressed at all for the money
Delicious little gem!!
We went for lunch and had the beef phô. It was some of the best pho I’ve ever had, even though it was different than what we usually got in SoCal. They garnish it with sprouts, crispy garlic and cilantro, and it was so good! We live about 30 mins away but this will be our go to spot for when we want pho. Should’ve taken a pic, it was beautiful, but got distracted by how good it was.
Very Bad, Forgot one of my orders and overcharge on simple foods. Unless you got money to flush down the toilet, don't go to this place
The hibachi was terrible. The service was spotty and inconsistent. Definitely not worth the money.
Good, not very good, but good.
Sadly this place has gone downhil drastically and our most recent visit will be the last. The prices are way too high for the quality and quantity of food. They could just be another strip mall thai/sushi fusion shop and no longer distinguish themselves from the rest of Brunswick.
The last time I was there they left a key ingredient from the sushi roll and I had to send it back to be remade. This most recent visit, my rainbow roll only had shrimp and avocado on top. No other fish. And to make up for the lack of flavor, they covered it in teriyaki or some other sauce. I hate sushi covered in sauce, and this was not mentioned in the menu or I would've declined it. The combo roll was also slathered and was mostly rice with tiny portions of filling.
I don't recommend this place. They no longer distinguish themselves from any other Thai/sushi fusion restaurant that you can find in any strip mall.
The portion was bigger than I expected!
My family and I visited here during our quick trip to Brunswick. I really wish I could remember our server name because he was great. The food was good and the drinks were delicious. The atmosphere was nice, too. I ordered the New Zealand lamb chops, salmon roll, and Thai fried rice.
overall good experience! very nice cozy environment. servers/bartender was good. great place to rewind and relax with friends and family.
I've been a few times, the restaurant looks really nice upon entry and the food is decent. Unfortunately we are always seated in the corner by the front door, away from the ambiance. We were never offered a choice of seating but were close enough to the door to hear the host offer others a choice of seating. Our waitress, although nice, seemed to have forgotten we were there, tucked away in the dark corner. Our last visit, our appetizer was brought with hair in it so we decided to leave and will likely never return.
I had the garlic shrimp and my husband had the lobster roll.... It was delicious!!!! And the staff was great! Highly recommend giving it a try! Update.... This is now our second time going..... Delicious and the service was great too!
Good food !

Will go again!
The host informed us to go to the bar for service for placing to go orders; completely understandable. We went to the bar and waited for quite a while - while the two bartenders worked, avoided eye contact, and ignored us.
A lady standing BEHIND us was approached by the female bar tender and asked what she needed to which she said she had a to go order. I must remind you that the lady behind us had just gotten in line, and was promptly greeted and we were NEVER even acknowledged.
For management, this was on Sunday, March 17, 2024 around 1:25-130 pm.
We only wanted to place an order to go for our daughter. That’s it. To management, express the importance of professional rapport and kind customer service. A simple “we will be right with you” would’ve been completely acceptable.
But no, ignoring us and greeting someone who came in after and behind us is very pathetic.
**there were only 3 people at the bar and about 8 tables seated… **MAYBE 8 tables seated.
Basil Thai & Sushi is an Asian fusion restaurant and sushi bar in downtown Brunswick. First time visiting and was hoping for better. The restaurant is clean, well maintained, and decorated supurbly. The service however was spotty and random, and the food was a bit underwhelming. Not a fan of warm shrimp in a shrimp cocktail and the soups and ginger salad dressings were much to sweet for my taste. The jumbo soft shell crab was dissopointing when i recieved 3 peices of fried Crab mixed in with some vegetables and sweet curry. The mango key lime cheesecake dessrt however was incredible and I will return to give e this restaurant another try so I can another taste of it.
Yuck
Excellent place for good food, good drinks and chill mode atmosphere.
First time here, and we were thrilled with the food, atmosphere, friendly and professional service. But the food was incredible. The noodles were so incredibly good, both our lunch plates perfectly prepared, temperature perfect, size of serving large, prices very reasonable. I can’t describe how good the veggies, rice, chicken are. So glad we found this incredible restaurant. Thank you!
It has been a few years since we have been to Basil. We had a great time! The staff was wonderful! Thank you, Taylor!
Average atmosphere but good food. Steamed dumplings fell apart. Cashew chicken had no flavor the first time we ate but they added spice for me the second time I had it. Much better. Service was good.
The food here was absolutely amazing! So glad to find some diverse cuisine in Brunswick. The interior dining area is much bigger than it appears on the outside.
Exceptional Service and Vegan Delights at Basil Thai and Sushi in Brunswick, GA
Dear Basil Thai Management,
I am writing to express my profound appreciation for the outstanding service and exceptional culinary experience I recently had at your restaurant. After driving over 6 hours, I decided to make a stop in Brunswick, GA, and opted for a pick-up order at Basil Thai. Having been previously deployed to Brunswick in September 2023, I recalled the remarkable guidance and recommendations I received from Destiny, who had expertly assisted me in finding the safest and best vegan meals your restaurant had to offer.
Upon calling in my order, I was delighted to be connected with Destiny once again. Her warm and welcoming demeanor instantly made my day. Trusting her expertise, I ordered the ginger salad and Thai fried rice with pineapple, and Destiny took great care to ensure that both dishes were entirely vegan-friendly, free from any non-vegan ingredients.
The flavors and quality of the meal were simply impeccable. While I would have loved to dine in and savor the ambiance of your establishment, my furry companion was waiting for me in the car. Nonetheless, seeing Destiny in person after our previous phone interactions was a genuine pleasure. Her beauty, both inside and out, shines through in her outstanding customer service.
I must also mention that the ginger dressing for the salad is, hands down, the best I have ever tasted. It added a delightful and refreshing zing to the dish, making it an unforgettable part of my meal.
Destiny's dedication to providing exceptional service and her deep understanding of vegan cuisine truly set her apart. Her commitment to ensuring a memorable dining experience for customers like myself deserves recognition and reward.
In closing, I want to extend my sincerest gratitude to Destiny and the entire team at Basil Thai for consistently delivering unparalleled service and delectable vegan offerings. I eagerly anticipate my next visit and look forward to more culinary delights when I'm in that part of the world.
Warm regards,
Anita
We both had chicken and shrimp Pad Thai. We had enough for lunch the next day.
Food was excellent, as always!!!
The food here is delicious and seems to be made with high quality ingredients. However, the price is expensive for the area. My issue with this restaurant is the service. It's a hot mess. Everyone from the host/hostess to the bartender are very rude and acts like they can't be bothered to deal with customers. If you expect even moderately good service, I'd adjust your expectations drastically before eating here.
The owner is amazing and I HAVE NEVER HAD BETTER THAI FOOD IN MY LIFE!!!!!!

I'd recommend this place and we'll definitely return.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.4 stars
Extremely slow service
Some of our table received their food and the other half of the table waited another 30 min.
Food is fine but not worth the wait.
Basil Thai and Sushi is great for Thai food and OK for sushi. The Thai food is authentic if not a little Americanized. The sushi I experienced was not properly rolled and had a tendency to collapse. There tend to not be enough servers so expect long waits between drinks. The atmosphere is a bit too dark for me - a little more light would not be a bad thing. Overall a great restaurant!
Sushi was mediocre, and some of the listed ingredients were not included. Maybe the Thai dishes are better, but I wouldn’t order sushi there again. Service was attentive, the room is pretty nice, and the location is great.
We were looking for a unique place to have dinner in Brunswick. Everywhere we called said there was a long wait and we didn't have that kind of time. We ended up Downtown at this amazing restaurant. Walked in and we were seated right away! Smelled wonderful!! Unusual menu, like a fusion of Thai and Japanese food. We ended up ordering a tray of sushi. We had no idea what it would be. It was absolutely delicious 😋!! We thoroughly enjoyed it. So glad we stumbled across it. We will definitely go again.
I’ve been here twice recently. The service, quailing of food and prices are amazing. I strongly suggest the fried oyster roll and crispy Flounder Hibachi Bowl!
Great atmosphere and really good food!
Very fresh and tasty food with large portions. Nice atmosphere.
We go for the amazing food and service from Taylor! We love Basil and Taylor!
Amazing food, great service! We were on vacation when we discovered this place, now are wishing we had it back home!
I've been here before when I was visiting and the food was amazing. Yesterday, several people walked up and left because they weren't open at 4:30 as advertised. I even called twice and no one answered the phone. I finally left after sitting there until 4:40. I was really bummed about that. 😞
Delicious food, great cocktails and wonderful service!
This is a love letter to the bowl of pho I devoured tonight.
This restaurant is by far one of the best places I’ve eaten at in Brunswick and I’ve lived here 4 years. The atmosphere was amazing and is perfect for a romantic date night out. The service was absolutely amazing the host and waiter were attentive and helpful all throughout the night!
I order the beef Pho and it was by far one of the best things I’ve ever put in my mouth. I wanted to marry that bowl of pho. I’m not kidding that bowl of pho was like bow-chicka-bow-wow in my mouth. It was the most authentic pho I’ve ever had and the flavors were immaculate in every bite. I 100% will be eating here again and I can’t wait to try everything else on the menu. SOOOOOOO GOOD!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️🤤🤤🤤🤤
The worst meal my wife and I have had in a long time. My Hibachi fillet mignon at $38 was the toughest steak I have ever had, and my wife's Pad Thai was like no other Pad Thai I have ever tasted.
Not authentic thai food.
Thanks Taylor.
We really enjoy the food here
TC best guy
The hibachi chicken was dry. My party enjoyed their Thai food. The added gratuity was very high.
Food was good epically the sushi
Have been there multiple times very elegant inside and the food is delicious recommend to anybody.
The food is fantastic, The service is amazing. They took very good care of us.
I chose to eat here because I had been craving sushi and the reviews said the sushi was the best in the area. Sadly, it was probably the worst sushi I have ever eaten in my entire life. The atmosphere was cute though, and the bartender was good. Overall though, a poor experience.
The service was excellent, and food was served in a timely manner. We loved the appetizers and entrees especially the lamp chops. I don't like lamb buy wow!!!
Great building, room, and bar.
Amazing
If you're looking for a great restaurant in Brunswick GA, look no further than Basil Thai and Sushi! I recently visited on a Friday night and was blown away by the fantastic food, charming ambience, and positive vibe. The location is perfect, and the restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere. Although the prices are a bit on the high side, the quality of the food and service more than justifies the cost. Overall, I highly recommend Basil Thai and Sushi for anyone looking for a delicious meal and a great dining experience!
Maybe I'm just spoiled from having sushi in Vegas for so long but this was very...OK. Relatively fresh, and acceptable portions of fish. I got the Brunswick roll and spicy tuna roll (picture). For the high prices, I can't say I'm satisfied. The basil Thai martini was pretty good though. Service was slow and unenthusiastic as well. Likely would not return.
Just happened to find this place, it was the only place open in town. Phenomenal food and service.
Hreat pad thai
Friendly and Fast Service. There wasn’t a long wait and and my kids loved it!
Very good! We were a party of 12 and everyone was happy!
We love this gem of a restaurant and Brunswick is lucky to have it downtown. Crispy shrimp is so great. Same with the calamari, the fusion rolls, + the Tom guay soup with shrimp (or chicken) is a meal. And hubby loves the Blue crab 🦀 dinner, too. Very good service, too.
I was very very impressed, first time eating there I ordered sushi to go tonight. It was amazing. It even came with a ginger salad n some really good soup ..definitely ordering from there again soon!
Wow. I lived here nearly four years ago when this place was excellent. We've recently (last week) moved back to stay. If I had rated this establishment then, it would have been a 6 out of five stars, but now? It's on the lower side of mediocre AT BEST. The food has significantly dropped in quality, the service was totally scattered and disjointed. It took forever to even get an appetizer or to us, with our server, who was obviously stressed to the max poor guy, hurriedly explaining that there has been some error with the kitchen tickets not coming through the printer or some such. The lobster roll is NOTHING and NO WHERE near as good as it once was, although the price seems to be about the same if not a bit higher... My husband said the same of his eel roll. It was absolutely drowned in sauce to cover the mediocre quality and uneven slices. The fried rice Hibachi side was totally bland. Our server was in such disarray that he accidentally spilled someone else's (used) waters he was cleaning up on my husband and son's side of the table while handing my drink to me. He apologized, of course, and said he would return to clean the mess but never did, leaving my husband and son to use their napkins on it. He also sloshed my martini on my hand as he handed it to me during that whole debacle. Speaking of drinks, we only got one drink refill the entire visit. And finally, it took a whole 15 minutes for my husband waiting at our table (after me and my children left the table, clearly signaling we were done dining) to receive our ticket.
The whole experience was so poor that my husband, who has worked as a server before and usually never complains about bad service, asked to talk to the floor manager only to find out that there was no floor manager. There was only the owner, who was in the kitchen cooking. After speaking with the owner about what a poor experience we had, we were only comped $15 off the entire meal. Just about any other establishment with a decent reputation would have comped us half the meal if not **the whole meal.** I mean, they spilled a used drink from someone else's table that they were cleaning up all over our table while we were eating and never properly cleaned it, for God's sake.
This place used to be a fine dining experience, and the prices that they still have on their menu reflect that. However, with how it is now, I could probably get an equally satisfying dining experience at a McDonald's.
The only thing this place really has going for it anymore is a beautiful building. Good luck getting to the restrooms though. They had plastic bins with extra silverware/servingware/accoutrements stacked so tightly in the narrow passage that you could hardly pass between the bar-seated patrons and the bins containing the silverware to get there.
What a shame.
Food was below average in comparison to other Thai food restaurants I have been to. It was a bit dark to see the menu and enjoy my food.
Food was great. Server was very good. Needed to use flashlight on phone to see menu was only negative.
I only had drinks there, my brother had sushi and he loved it.
Overall i think the food tasted really good and the service here is one of the best. My one gripe is that there's not as many options for thai and it focuses on a bunch of different foods. Also it's a bit pricey for the food. Its good if you are craving some thai and you want a cool atmosphere but not for normal day to day eating.
Very tasty
Shrimp pho (medium hot) was so delicious that I ate it before I realized I should have taken a picture of..
We did not have a good dining experience here. The pad thai was sweet and sticky, the miso soup tasteless and the sushi fish was old and verging on being spoiled. The service was good but the food took a long time to come out, not the waiters fault, and the whole meal was disappointing.
Went for dinner at 7:30p. Was not crowded. Two different tables had dirty dishes removed but the liquid and food leftovers not cleaned off was a total turnoff!!! Staff left us standing there apparent wondering why we were not sitting down. The hostess said she would clean a spot for us and only picked up the glasses and again food liquid was plain as day left behind on the surface. So disappointed and never going there again.!! Especially not with so many other restaurants nearby to go to.
Excellent Thai and sushi.
Poor food quality - especially the Sushi. Staff had poor knowledge of the menu. Hoping I don’t get sick from what I ate. Restroom was not clean. Very disappointed and would not come back. Horrible value for money.
Service was great, my lunch Basil Chicken was decent and yummy. My husband’s steak hibachi was pretty delicious. We ordered a spicy tuna roll as an appetizer, I’ll probably never order sushi from here again. It was improperly rolled, the tuna was nearly non existent, and it was cut so thin as to give the appearance of more pieces, but you can’t fool us! Lol please stick to what your good at, or at least till the sushi right.
Very small portions for the price. I ordered calamari and got 8 pieces that were less than an inch around and 1/4 thick. However they were tender.
The food was delicious!
Delicious. My wife and I were staying on Jekyll island craving some oriental, I love sushi and she loves hibachi. Both were excellent. Service was great as well!!!
TC is always amazing. Food is hot and delish! Tried Tom Kha for the first time, I enjoyed it. Their tuna tataki is delish!!!! Sushi is always on point
I ordered a yellow curry that came with rice. Flavor was top notch, portions were excellent. It got pretty packed so service took a dip but the delicious food definitely made up for it.
Ambiance is good but their a/c was on the blink for several weeks. Service is above average The food is competitive with other Thai restaurants in the area.
Great place! TC makes sure it is spot on!
Great food in downtown Brunswick
I’m giving this restaurant a 3star ONLY because of there being a big dog in there that smelled while we were dining.. AND the servers(who probably lovesss dogs and has every right to) to play with the dog by rubbing and petting on it AND with the same unsanitized hands …served customers their food and drinks…I love dogs too, but to have had to sit and watch that being done was distasteful. Other than that the FOOD WAS GREAT, the ATMOSPHERE WAS PLEASANT and the WATERMELON MARTINI WERE SUPERB. I am not sure if this happens regularly, but to have had to witness that…very very displeasing and uncomfortable..
Everytime I kome here it's a great experience from the drinks to the food and most definitely the atmosphere!!! And the price is worth it too!!
The service here was one of the best, thanks for maintaining that through staffing shortages. We had the emperor sushi & sashimi platter and pad thai. The sushi platter was visually striking and it comes with salad and the most watered down miso soup. The sashimi was fresh but verrrry thinly cut. We got the dragon and spider roll and they were just ok. The tuna tataki was also just ok. The pad Thai was fine. Our waiter was very attentive and active, even though he seemed like the resident bartender, and I saw other servers just standing around. He even got out hot sake to the perfect HOT temp.
The Flounder dinner was excellent and the mango sticky rice dessert was really good too.
The crispy flounder is soo good 👍
Outstanding food!
Awesome food and service. I had hibachi chicken and my son had pho and spicy tuna roll. Everything was wonderful. Will definitely go back.
This place was fantastic! We went for Sunday lunch, and the food was great! I ordered the steak hibachi, and the steak was tender and flavorful. The service was excellent, and the restaurant is beautiful. We will definitely be back! Oh, and prices were super fair!
I am wowed at the food!!!
It was very tasty. I had the Tom Kha soup, which is now my favorite. And I had the Thai Salmon. Overall, I was very impressed.
Drinks were watered down. Sushi rolls were by far the smallest rolls I've ever been served. Wait staff is slow and spilled food on the table. Will not be back.
Curry is 10 out of 10, the prices are way too high though. 20 bucks for a bowl of green curry, sheesh!
Kind of like other reviews I found this restaurant to be a nice establishment, very pleasant inside with a good ambiance. The service was ok, nothing special, our waitress just seemed like she would rather be someone else. The food was OK my Massaman curry was at a level that I could easily achieve myself, not really authentic. My wife tried to reduce salt from her food by eliminating the soy and ended up with something that was inedible. While she may have been to blame for that I cannot see that the absence of soy from a garlic fried rice would make it taste like sweaty socks. It was really bad. I have had some amazing Thai food in the past including during several trips to Thailand but this was average at best. I gave it three stars because it is a nice restaurant and because it's Brunswick, GA.
Excellent food and service
Ordered 2 bowls of "pho" soup, and an appetizer salad.
Cost - 60$
Broth was bland. Noodles were wrong. Meat was plain. No lime wedge, no cilantro....
I was hungry after eating all my food.
This is a terrible place to get food. Pay double what you should, still end up hungry. Very disappointing. After tip I spent 70$ on a light meal. Will be sure to never get price gouged here again.
