Another wonderful Thai restaurant,this time in Pinellas County. I'm going to abbreviate my usual review only to save time. We ordered the krab Rangoon and summer rolls for appetizers. The summer rolls were beautifully presented with a piquant peanut sauce in the center. The rolls were cut, and this made them much easier to eat. We ordered the massaman chicken and khoa soi. Both dishes came out piping hot,freshly prepared, and loaded. The portions were more than generous. Both entrees were easily sharable. The service was a bit slow but very friendly. Looking forward to our next visit.

This is one of the best Thai/Japanese. restaurants in town, if not the best.
Everything is creative and authentic.
The presentation with the Sashimi was amazing. Was very fresh.
My wife had the red curry chicken. Very flavorable and not too spicy.
Portions were all really good size.
They were busy but the staff did an amazing job.
I would highly recommend this place.

Great Thai food! Super happy we found this place. Lots of great veggie sushi options as well, super yummy! We got the veggie sushi roll and the slim shady to go, both were excellent. We ate pad Thai and pad see ew there, and an order of spring rolls. Everything was excellent.

Wow! Amazing food. All in all we tried the sweet and sour chicken, chicken teriyaki, salmon teriyaki, sweet and sour chicken, dumplings, seaweed salad, khao sui and shimp/chicken pad thai. The whole family LOVED it. Just yums and mms all throughout dinner. 4 stars based on service. Our server was in a RUSH! We wanted an extra order of dumplings and could barely get a word out before he left after dropping drinks off. Took 5 bites and he dropped off boxes and the check. Didn’t even ask if we wanted dessert or more drinks. We were going to spend more money on our already $150+ check but were ushered out! What a loss, not smart business.

On a positive note, I didn't get food poisoning this time.

We came during a conference so the restaurant was extremely busy for lunch hour. Still they seated us and gave us great service. The food was excellent and served in huge portions. We ordered the pad kee mao and the Panang curry. Both were delicious: spicy, nutty, flavorful. The food isn’t cheap (we paid $19 for each dish), but for the quantity and quality you’re getting in this location, it’s worth it. Would highly recommend this spot, I’m sure it’s even better when they’re not super busy.

I used to get was $3.95 and is now 27 bucks- for a cup not bowl of soup??? It has chicken in it?? Will try and make my own. Your rolls are 30 plus bucks. You should fix your website if this is wrong. We found a new absolutely fabulous place that was priced so much better.

Good food. We didn’t get any meat or seafood. I would say it was a bit pricey.

Ordered pad tai……….mushy over cooked noodles. I took one bite and threw it in the trash. It was terrible. Tried the egg fried rice…. Inedible…. Spit out the first bite. You want to pass on this place. We paid $36.00 and cooked at home.

I did takeout and the food was the worst ever. The pad tai noodles were completely overcooked and stuck together to the completely dried out pork.
The egg fried rice was clumpy fried rice with some egg that was dry and tasteless. It was so awful..

Only thing we didn’t like is it isn’t were we live in Minnesota We love everything was great fresh hot and well made

Have dined in about a dozen times and it's located across from the beach, great location. I've had delivery from them, and have never had a problem with freshness. the sushi from there has always been second to none. Their sushi recipes, are on another level. From their Pink Floyd to their lobster 🦞 tail Rock and Roll sushi 🍣 if you are ready for sushi that doesn't have any competition in town, come to Basil Leaf 🌿, you will have a new favorite restaurant

Everything is homemade and comes out the second it’s prepared, they don’t wait for other dishes which I love.
The Crab Rangoon had chunks of crab with a little curry, So good.
The sushi was delicious and generous on portions, my gf doesn’t like sushi and loved it.
The chicken pad Thai was out of this world, so fresh and filling.
10/10 I highly recommend.

Came in with a party of 10. Service was great. Fast and attentive. Food came out timely. Portions were great. I got pad Thai and asked for thai hot but it wasn’t even spicy which was disappointing but overall flavor was great. Sushi was good no complaints. I would come back.

The food quality is horrible. The manager (Arty) needs to manage his temper before he manages the kitchen's heavy sugar formula & tasteless meat. Every plate we ordered had so much sweetener in it and the chicken had no flavor or taste to it. It really felt like we were at a candy shop eating junk food and not authentic Thai food. All 4 platters we ordered were too sweet we had to ask the server why is this food so sweet - literally said we add alot of sugar. The coconut soup tasted like watered down heavily sweetened soup, The Pad Thai was not authentic and disgustingly sweet. Inagine going to a place to try Thai food and all you taste is overwhelming sweet noodles and cardboard chicken. The server/manager Arty didnt get a tip because he was very rude & disrespectful to customers that were next to us. When we would ask a question about a plate he would look mean and ugly and act like he doesn't want to see us here. We chose not to tip because for 40 minutes our cups we're not filled with water & he just didn't want to serve us or others at the restaurant...Maybe he was going through something I'm not sure but that whole place was off, including the kitchen (with that heavy sugar formula). Manager kicked a couple out of the restaurant before our turn came to pay . He tried to force us to tip then he said don't ever come back here again.. I love asian food, I know asian food and I cook asian food and I promise you that this food is the worst non-asian food you'll try in a long time. You'll regret going here.

To be honest they dnt even deserve 1 star also we had the worst experience at this place first the customer service was too bad I requested him to push a hurry on food bcz I was too hungry so the server name Arty told me if u r in rush so go to McDonald n the quality of food was vry poor,the whole order of $120 of food was wasted ,as we didn’t tip the server Arty as he expected he started using foul language n also told us tht do not come back here again . Meeting up with conference attendees for the Visual Sciences Society. A group of people that had never-before met in person gathered ar this restaurant and shared Thai dishes and discussion. The staff were most obliging, the company was excellent and the food delicious and good for family style eating.

Best Thai in florida

While visiting St. Pete Beach area last year I had a meal at Basil Leaf in which I enjoyed. Upon return this year I didn't enjoy my meal. Lastly; A roach was at the table next to us trying to get our attention. The roach danced and ran around in a circle for a while. My spouse said "let the waiter know". I said to my spouse "they know about this roach and its friends because that roach is to comfortable, that roach is trying to get adopted." I hurried to pay the bill and we left. We stopped out side and spooked our thing out because we tried to make sure we didn't have any hitchhikers.

Food basic for price

Bland and uninspired food. We were very disappointed. Although there was a generous amount of shrimp/beef in respective noodle dishes, the noodles otherwise were VERY plain and not worth eating. Gyoza were good, but not good enough to warrant another try.

Been here many times—staff is nice, food is reasonably priced and the sashimi cuts are quite big. Recommend the cucumber rolls—so fresh!

Their food is amazing and their staff are excellent! We had a party of 5 and they gave us an extra spring roll because there were only 4. Not only did they do that but they accidentally gave us an extra plate of fried tofu and decided to let us keep it as well as take it off our bill!

Went here with some business associates purely because it was within walking distance from our hotel. What a great surprise and experience. Super friendly staff and the some of the best sushi and apps that we have ever had. Sake and beer choices were great. Atmosphere is not anything to write home about but the food and service MORE THAN MAKES UP FOR IT. Can't wait to go back.

I am on Vacation looking for Sushi and came here on a recommendation from a local and I am absolutely glad I did. Sushi was more than great. I can't say enough to justify the Volcano Roll and Gyoza. It was a little pricey but when it's this good I don't care.

There are many restaurants to choose from in the area. We love Thai food and if you too like Thai, you will not be disappointed; it was Delicious! You could easily share an entree or have another meal for later.

I’ve never had sushi roll this big and stuffed with tuna. Delicious and super fresh. We had noodles too but I forgot to photograph it was so delicious! Portions are large.

Food was GREAT! We lived in Asia for years and this was like being back. Portions were huge; all the classics and a few that have a more western touch for those that may not favor the original heat!. And how often can you actually taste the Wok Hei? Perfect! Service was excellent; attentive but perfectly timed. My only comment is that the lighting is a bit bright but even that was absolutely reminiscent of food courts in Chang Mai, Vientiane, or Pai. Very nice. Now on our regular rotation.

This is American Thai food. You can taste the sugar in the food. They also give you texas size portions. I have eaten real Thai food so I knew the difference. Even the drunken noodle dish was different.
Food is good, best Thai if you are in a resort nearby.

I was wondering where I can get a bottle of plum wine on this island? Without a car, there is not much option. But, here we go.

1st time at Basil Leaf.
Spring rolls were the best part of our order, full and crispy.
The Pad Thai was tastier than the Yakisoba which was bowl full of angel hair pasta, some vegetables and very very very dry chicken for $21.

Always a great meal. Staff is friendly and attentive. One of our go to places on the beach for take out or dine in.

We came in to order to go because our little guy was being v testy haha they took such good care of us while we waited & gave him noodles, too. I am very happy to report he loved it 😊 thank you!

Why they do that?

We have been getting food from this restaurant for many years but they have become grossly overpriced and their delivery has failed us tonight! The Door Dash driver has been stuck there for over an hour waiting. The restaurant has taken their phones off the hook so we could not even find out what's happening. It's well over an hour late and they have jacked up their prices to an outrageous level. We're done with this once reliable and reasonable business.

Nice place, food looks good, but if you're coming here to try the "all you can eat sushi" your entire party better want the buffet too because the establishment will force the entire party to pay the exorbanant $40/person. Me and my wife went in because I love Sushi and she had already eaten (she also hates sushi), so I decided to seize the opportunity to try and treat myself. Guess I will do so someplace else, and based off the attitude of this place, you likely should too. Honestly, I'm surprised they didnt try make me pay for my infant daughter asleep in her carseat...

I usually go to the sister store, “Nori Thai” but I was out earlier in the day & decided to try Basil leaf for the first time, they didn’t have my favorite roll (T.N.T) But the ones i got instead were delicious, (Spicy tuna & California) If You’re Every looking for early day sushi, they’re open at 12pm-10pm I believe, it was very spacious inside. There was many different menu options aswell outside of sushi, overall nice place.

The waiter forgot half of my order because of that took a longer waiting time. Sushi roll was just ok, soup was probably premade, the tai ice tea was disgusting. Whole waiting, the cockroach crossed the table. After that I couldn’t wait to pay and get out of the place.

Basil Leaf is my go-to for Thai takeout, and I can't get enough of their Massaman curry. The cozy ambiance and friendly staff may be missed with takeout, but the flavors of the Massaman curry are just as incredible at home. Every time I order it, it’s always fresh and just the right amount of spicy. The staff is efficient and accommodating, making ordering a breeze.

This place is the best in St Pete!

Everything is really fresh, fast service,very nice people, good prices for the quality, thoses sushi are delicious, we travel there from Palm Bay visiting friends and going to different places and finally me and wife agree " This is the ONE ".

Just coming back from basil leaf.. I will give 0 stars if I could. This Owner has so much temper that he literally yelled at me ( I am a 40 year old lady) when my 2 year old son broke a small bowl infront of other customers. I tried to control my tears and he said I should control my 2 year old toddler and should be very careful and yes he used words at me like ‘behave’ multiple times as if he is talking to a child and he said he will give me a check when I was still eating my food. Food is not great too not sure how he is still getting customers I think because of some fake reviews. Do not go to this place.if you have kids I will not recommend this place as owner is passive aggressive and you will know he is the owner once you see him.

Best food!!! You want Asian food come to this place!!! We went to haiku Japanese last night and barley got any food that tasted like American frozen food from a cafeteria! Spent $200.00 on nothing! Here, we got excellent service, amazing food, and a lot more for how much we paid! If you’re hungry and want Asian come to this place! It’s amazing!!!! Wish we took pictures of the food! So full… last night we left disappointed and still hungry…. Here we spent $80 on a sushi roll teriyaki beef that came with miso soup and ginger dressing salad… amazing btw. And we also got thia noodles! Check this place out! Please!!! No wait. Amazing service amazing food!

I returned to the restaurant after being away for some time due to Covid.

We had a very late lunch at 3:45 in the afternoon. The restaurant was open and the lunch specials will run until 4:00 p.m. That was really nice.

We ordered the chicken teriyaki lunch special at $14.50. It came with rice, miso soup, and a salad. The Miso soup was tasty, not watered down, and the salad was good. The chicken was a little bit overcooked, but the meal was okay.

We also ordered 1 sushi roll. While the sushi was okay, the serving was paltry, and the price exorbitant ($20 for 1 roll, 5 pieces!).

We probably won't return here again. The prices are too high for what you get, and there are better sushi restaurants to be found.

While I am unable to recommend this restaurant for sushi, it may not be a bad stop for a Thai lunch special.

By far the best sushi place we’ve visited! The Pink Floyd is possibly the best roll ever invented 😂 the Red Hot Chili Pepper has a nice kick to it. Plus so many more that’ll fit your fancy. The boba tea is absolutely delicious 😋 and the service is always top notch

Delicious authentic Thai with yummy vegan options

My family came here during our stay near St Pete Beach because we wanted sushi for lunch, and most places didn't open until after 2pm. We're lucky they didn't! This place is reasonably priced, offers generous portions, and the quality of the sushi is fantastic. The waitstaff was also super polite and accommodating.
The menu is impressive, with plenty of vegetarian options. The squid salad was to die for and the cuts of sashimi were melt-in-your-mouth. The pad thai was also the best I've ever had. The presentation of the food--served over shredded veggies and with edible flowers--was really nice. My family is from New York, so we're used to having plenty of sushi/pan-Asian options, but the quality of food and service really made this place stand out. If you're looking for good seafood or just a fun dining experience in the St Pete Beach area, this place is not to be missed!

Wasn't expecting much so pleasantly surprised to find pretty good food. I had a conch salad which was great and sushi wrapped with cucumber instead of rice. That was great as well.

I had the Pink Floyd roll. It was very good. Everyone in my party enjoyed their food. The food was excellent but the service was a tad bit slow for the size of the crowd.

The coconut chicken soup is good. Tender juicy chicken and just the right amount of spice. The shrimp tempura sushi was good. Wasn't crazy about the steamed shrimp dumplings though.

Delicious rolls and sashimi. Homemade tomago (sweet egg). So good!

Amazing food

If you like eating mediocre, high priced sushi then this is your place. The sushi incorporates asparagus in the majority of the rolls which is horrible. Bland and utterly flavorless.

Omg! This used to be our favorite little beach dive and wow! Has it gone down hill since they tried to serve a larger crowd. Super load, not comfortable. We actually had to ask to move it was loud. Food took forever, major under staffed.

I could bathe in their panang, it is that delicious. We love thai.. and this place is my absolute favorite. Dishes are pricey, but proportions are giant so don't let that deter you. Service could be improved 100 percent but rudeness doesn't make it taste any less amazing.

I was so excited to try this place for a nice sushi and Thai food combo! I ordered pad-kee-mao and my bf ordered sushi. He only had four pieces out of the three rolls (12 pieces) he ordered because they were alright in taste.
We got our checks and paid tip on it , only to realize we were charged double than our origjnal bill. We let them know and they rectified it, and told us we will get our refund in minimum of 3-4 days, the waiter however was super rude and asked us for tip when we paid the correct amount the second time and we refused due to poor service but he kept asking for cash tip after that.
Be aware, if you tip them less or don’t tip them because their service is not so good, they will confront you.

I'm a New Yorker who is used to a variety of food options from the best chefs. I am often disappointed when I travel but Basil Leaf Thai blew me out of the water. The food was amazing! I highly recommend checking them out if you are in the area.

Absolutely delicious. There were some options we had not seen in other Thai restaurants and we loved everything we tried, including having leftovers!

Aufgrund der Bewertungen von Google sind wir zum Sushi essen dort hin und waren sehr zufrieden.

Sushi ist in Deutschland schon nicht günstig, daher war es uns klar, dass es in den USA sicherlich nicht günstiger sein wird. Daher ist es schon ein teurer Spaß gewesen.

Dafür war der Geschmack von dem Sushi und den Vorspeisen (Suppe und Edamame) sehr gut.

Auch erwähnenswert war, dass wir hier tatsächlich normale Soft Getränke aus Gläsern bekommen haben. Eigentlich nichts besonderes, aber nach vielen Plastikbechern mal was anderes.

Uns hat es daher sehr gut gefallen, daher trotz des recht hohen Preises volle Sterne.

Special combo fried rice $27 was tasteless. Chicken looked and tasted like it was boiled.
I guess we should have tried the Sushi and Pad Thai.

We had Thai and Sushi - all was good. And all was larger-than-expected portions. Portions were approx 1.5 to 2x larger than expected.

This is our go-to place for Thai and sushi. Always consistent and always good. Definitely check them out.

My special Sushi rolls were good and plentiful I love eel and they give very good portions on the rolls. The pad thai was very good. It is a little awkward getting in front door with buckeked uneven blacktop and a ramp that you have to be standing on a angle to get door open if you are on a walker or wheelchair!! Very dangerous situation.
