Visited Thai Basil for lunch today and it was everything a restaurant/food lover could dream of. The staff are friendly, the food is delicious, and the restaurant is clean and orderly. The prices were reasonable and the service was quick and efficient. We got the Pad See Ew and the Pineapple Fried Rice, with mango and coconut milk sticky rice for dessert. Everything was delicious and seasoned perfectly. My new favorite Thai spot!

The food was very authentic and delicious. The waitresses were very nice and had a good attitude. I loved how they didn’t cut down the trees when building the restaurant and I think it definitely deserved a 5 star review! And I recommend the Thai Tea it is delicious!

I ordered the Thai Basil Chicken. The temperature of the dish ranged from cold(outpart) to scalding(very center), giving me the impression that my food was microwaved. The rice was stone cold. Though we came in AND ORDERED BEFORE two other couples, we were the last to be served. Our server never spoke a word to us or gave further service after we received our late platters. Not even as we were sitting at the table in conversation she proceeded to move plates directly in the our faces, indicating we should leave. Overall, I’m disappointed and should have made the drive to Royal Thai instead.

Food was good …pricey but good. Service is as to be expected. Old building with the same improvements from the 70’s. You don’t go to a place like this for the atmosphere. It’s the food. So enjoy the fast service and good food.

This place is so good. The staff is really nice, and very attentive. The food is amazing and came out quick.

They have sushi back and it's amazing. Their crab rangoons are so fresh and good, the spring rolls are perfect and crispy, and the rest of the food was great. The staff was so helpful and friendly, and we enjoyed our visit.

We weren't crazy about this place. I felt bamboozled after leaving. The service was kind, but strange. The whole place smelt like mothballs and that definitely affected the flavor of the food. My husband had the three brothers and thought that it was pretty good. And a friend of ours had the shrimp fried rice that he liked. The gyoza was okay. And the vegetable soup was delicious (that is really the only thing worth noting). My friend had the duck and thought that it was awfully gamey. She has had it before and liked it in other places, but said that this one was too gamey. My garlic sauce seafood combo was terrible. I was feeling seafood but this combo was gross and had the strangest flavor. I. Could. NOT. Make. Myself. Eat. It. I kept trying a bite here or there (maybe small 4 bites total), but something was off. I couldn't even make it home before it evacuated my stomach. The server asked how I felt about it and I was honest. She offered to bring me another vegetable soup, since I didn't like my meal. I accepted. She didn't feel like my description of the dish fit the profile of the dish, so she took it back to the kitchen to fix it. When they brought it back out, it wasn't much better. I did not eat any more. My husband tried 2 bites, but he wasn't crazy about it either. The other soup was brought out, and I had a few bites of it. It was still good. But by then I wasn't feeling great and I was done with it. My friend did not eat her duck. She was asked about it and said that she didn't like it, but she didn't want anything else. She did not east another bite. She ate her sticky rice, but not the duck. They still charged us both. They charged me for the 2nd bowl of soup as well. It wasn't to remedy an issue to offer it - it was to upsell. When we walked in, one server took a small child (2 year old) to get a drink without asking the parents and charged them for it. It seemed like a nice gesture, but they would have given him water and gone without the extra charge if offered. Each family ordered a gyoza. We ate them and then my family ordered another one. We never received it, but were charged for it. We didn't want it at that point - we were leaving. So we told the server and paid. After paying we realize that she just added the extra one to our friend's bill. When he asked about it they just gave him 8 dollars, not accounting for taxes.
It was just really weird. The food wasn't all bad, but it wasn't good either. I wanted the experience to be so much better, but it just felt strange.

eaten. Red curry was great and they will make it Thai hot but if you're like me there is a spice jar on the table. Counut milk covered sticky rice with mango was a great dessert to end with.

I cannot recommend this place. It's pretty gross inside, one of the worse Pad Thai I've ever had. Hard pass.

Family owned. The owner is always there and has never forgotten who I was even though I only lived here one year 2017. Its an older building that survived Hurricane Michael in 2018 so grateful they’re still here. Such kind people here and authentic homemade Thai food. They are always happy you are here.

The family and I enjoyed trying out this restaurant for lunch. We tried five different dishes and they all were delicious. The only two negatives were the slow service and the plain interior.

This is the best Thai restaurant I've ever been to. I highly recommend it to anyone who has an inkling for Thai food.

The worst drunken noodles I have ever had. The sauce tastes like it has a lot of tomato in it. Felt like I was eating spaghetti. Gross.

The service was amazing went in for lunch and the server was so sweet and joking with us the whole time and the food was amazing my new favorite place for Thai! Amazing!

This is the SLOWEST place to order from. Unless you have an hour to wait on your food, don't bother coming here.

One star as ZERO which this place deserves is not possible. My Scallop Basil Fried Rice was totally inedible. Rubbery slices of scallop in oil drenched nasty stale rice with raw rotten veggies. Crispy Duck did not resemble duck OR the picture on the menu. Crispy Duck was just burnt breading. Then they had the nerve to hover over us with our inedible full plates to make sure they got tipped for CRAP. PLEASE STAY AWAY AND GO ANYWHERE ELSE!

terrible dishes, unauthentic, part of the order was not served, and then they apologized and cooked quickly, but not tasty. I refused the meal, but they still added it to the bill and refused to remove it. I said ok, pack it for takeout, but they already threw it in the trash, and the dish was taken off the bill.

Ordered a spring roll and pointed to photo that looked like a summer roll. Owner brings fried roll and i nicely said thats not what i wanted. She would NOT exchange it for the summer roll. Panang curry sauce was peach colored water, not the sauce we expected..the bathroom was dirty and we were 1st customers of the day. Customer service was awful. Will not be back.

Ordered thru Door Dash. Rice and extra mushrooms and basil were paid for and not delivered. When we called —they did not understand English and kept repeating our name over and over as if we were placing a new order. Finally after ten minutes of explaining-they said we come there and they make us brown rice. No refunds or credit is allowed. We are what they delivered and was the worst meal ever. The spice of 3 was like a 5 in other places and there was no sauce just oddly cut veggies. Save your time and money. Don’t use this place!

The food is always consistent. It is always hot. The atmosphere is great very comfortable atmosphere and the service is just as great.

We ordered take-out from Thai Basil. One panang curry and one green curry, spice level 3, and one order of steamed dumplings. The curry was excellent. Rich with spice, ample meat portions, and crisp veggies. The rice portion is larger than other Thai restaurants locally so that was a plus.

We have ordered takeout many times from here and decided to sit down on Christmas Eve . We waited 10 minutes before being greeted. I ordered veggie soup and received chicken. The sushi tasted questionable enough to not consume. I’m sure these are nice people however, they didn’t make us feel like guests at all, and the experience was disappointing.

Got the spider sushi roll and chicken pad Thai. Both were delicious. Also the Thai tea is sweet and delicious too!

My wife and I love the food. Chicken Larb and Drunken Noodles for lunch. Both were excellent. My daughter's spicy tuna roll and Tom Kha soup were excellent.

Had a pick up order today. First time visiting, even though I've passed the place many times both by car and when walking through downtown. For whatever reason we hadn't stopped in, and I feel like a loser for waiting so long. Incredible food and amazing staff. Even though I picked up the order when I came in a few minutes early the staff insisted I sit and checked in on me at least 3 times in 5 minutes to ensure I knew the order was being worked on. Clean place with a cute little bar and plenty of seating as well. I'll absolutely be back soon and can't wait to share this place with family and friends who visit us. Highly recommend the siam dumplings, spring rolls, and drunken noodles. And you have to get the sassy girl roll!

One of my favorite places that I don't visit nearly enough. The staff is always accommodating and sweet. The food is usually pretty great and it's always refreshing to have a change in taste. Their Thai tea is the best around and when I drink it it's like my tongue and the tea are the only two things that exist in the entire universe

Just some average Thai food. The staff were awesome and the restaurant was nice but it was pretty mediocre food. Good sized portions but nothing stood out, maybe the Thai tea but that's a pretty standard drink.

Ordered take out. $22 for one order of Thai fried rice and 1 order of spring rolls. Food was okay from friendly people and a good atmosphere. The restaurant floors could be cleaner it was 20 mins til they closed and with only 4 tables eating, 3 employees standing around ready to go home could've took 2 mins with 1 broom and would've had no conplaints.

I had the Angry Shrimp, you should too. This is exquisite food without shortcuts and the prices are very reasonable for the beach market. The sushi is a surprise bonus at a Thai restaurant- it’s thinly rolled in rice and more of the stuff you want. Top notch!

So next time you eat at Thai basil check check check your receipt. So we had a party of 8 with three separate checks. My check had a party of 4 so our total was $82 not bad food was fair. What made me give a two star was the mere fact that I had every intention on leaving a nice gratuity. However when I looked at my receipt after filling the tip line I noticed that our bill was $82 plus they automatically added a tip for a total of $ 112 and us not noticing we added another tip on the blank line. So an $82 dinner ended with $125. I dont have a problem paying a tip but the least you could have done was say if you’d like to add an extra tip the blank line is there, but we already included that in your total, but instead they charged us for our meal and on their own added their own tip and we filled in an extra extra tip. Not very honest. So pay attention to your receipt.

Placed an order for pickup around maybe 6:30pm. Left my condo around maybe 7:15 to go pick up my order because it was 15 minutes away. I got to the restaurant and had to wait there for I don’t know how long. Finally got my order and left the restaurant around 8:00. I didn’t go far yet and the restaurant had the audacity to call me and asked if I had my pad Thai chicken. I mean isn’t it your job to check the customers’ orders before you hand it to us? Luckily we already had it and didn’t have to go back and wait for who knows for how long. At least the food was good. This restaurant needs to work on their to go orders. Cannot be having people wait for so long.

Our go-to place for Thai curry. It's not perfect but we've never been disappointed by the food. Haven't really tried much beyond the curry. Panang and Masaman Curries are our favorites.

My bf and I just moved here and have been looking for a new Thai restaurant home. We order several appetizers, a sushi roll, and two entrees. Everything was delicious 🤤 The chef puts some much flavor and detail in their dishes and exceeded our expectations!!

We have visited Panama City for the first and got into this place . We have ordered food and even after waiting for 2 long hours we didn't get the food and on top this the experience with the manager and the service is to worst. I recently visited this shity restaurant , and I must say it was a disappointing experience. The service was incredibly slow, with waitstaff appearing inattentive and disinterested. Our orders took an exceptionally long time to arrive, and when they did, the food was poorly cooked. The presentation was lackluster, and the taste was underwhelming. To top it off, when we brought these issues to the attention of the staff, they were unapologetic and dismissive. Overall, it was a frustrating and unsatisfactory dining experience that I would not recommend to others.

Went inside to place a take out order. Told me 20 to 30 minutes. No problem. Walked outside to tour the old oak tree and came back. Was told to wait at the bar, order was almost ready. Not even close. After 57 minutes my $95 order was ready...yay, I thiught. Not so much, COLD COLD food. Sushi was tossed around in box and warm!

Best basil fried rice I have ever had! Loaded with perfectly cooked veggies, fair amount of protein and spiced to perfection. I usually order level 2 for spice. My go to meal for eating out.

I had the most appalling experience at this restaurant that I strongly urge potential customers who are of a DARKER SKIN TONE to stay away. My belief in giving establishments a second chance, even if the food isn't great, is shattered after my visit to this place.

From the moment I stepped foot inside, the lack of basic courtesy was evident. Instead of a warm welcome, the staff member immediately barked at me, "Doordash at the back," with a tone that could freeze water. No simple greeting or acknowledgement whatsoever.

Undeterred by this initial rudeness, I proceeded to place my order. When I inquired about dining in, she begrudgingly agreed. However, it quickly became clear that her friendliness was reserved solely for customers with lighter skin. I observed her warmly greet every white-skinned person who entered, while I received nothing but neglect and disdain.

To add insult to injury, my appetizer of crab rolls arrived promptly, but my main course was handed to me in a to-go box. It was laughable, really. This place is nothing short of a joke, and as someone who works in the service industry myself, I find this level of incompetence and discrimination utterly unacceptable.

Rest assured, I will never subject myself to such a terrible experience again by visiting this establishment. Save yourself the disappointment and find somewhere that truly values its customers.

Always get the spring rolls. My daughter loves the sushi. It's so fresh.

My friend and I had dinner there. The pad se ew there was aweful. Beef tasted like bubble gum been dry out in the sun. No one even came by to ask about our food there and we had to flagged down anyone to tell them about the food. When the lady came and I had expressed it was just too sweet and beef was not chewable. I often eat Thai food everywhere and for years so I know. All she can say is quote " our pad se ew here is like that" she could have handled that in number of ways instead of in a confrontation manner. Finally I didn't want to go nuts and I ask pay so I can leave. Customer service is horrendous.

This place is amazing we had the tai basil combination fried rice and the pad tai combination at level two. It was one of the best meals I've had around here in awhile although it was a bit pricy it definitely lived up to its price tag! I'm recommending everyone come to this restaurant and I've legitimately never took the time to leave a review before! Even the staff was nice and although we came at a time they weren't busy the service was super fast!

Really bad sushi. Tried to explain but they didn't understand. Really nice people. But the nori was like plastic. Couldn't chew it enough. I didn't finish my meal. The food coming out of kitchen looked very good. But I didn't order any Thai. Won't return.

Best Thai curry I have had in the states, period. I got the panang curry, my brother the green curry, and my dad the country style. Wonderful place, such sweet staff, I cannot reccomend enough. The subtle flavors in the curry can't be replicated anywhere else I swear!

Great authentic Thai food. Excellent service. The only thing was the limited parking in the front. However, there is free public parking in the back and unlimited on the street. Needs to improve some of the seats to be more comfortable

My favorite Thai place in the Panama City area. Food is always consistent and delicious. Appetizer portions can be on the small side depending on what you order but you get a big portion for your meal. I always have leftovers. Their curries are my favorite- yellow is the one I like the most lately. The curry has layers of flavor to it. I also like that they have the extra spice at the table so I can make my curry as painfully hot as I want.

One thing to remember with Thai food is that there are many styles/flavor profiles that come out of each region so one Thai place may not always taste as Thai as another if you aren't used to the variety of flavors Thai food can have. I feel like Thai Basil has an authentic homecooked Thai taste.

There is a sushi bar in the restaurant as well- it looks like they might sub lease it to another chef. I haven't tried it but I have heard good things.

BR roll (sushi) is to die for. Love the pineapple fried rice and Teriyaki Salmon.

We have been here multiple times and always have had great service and exceptional food. We keep coming back so that says something.

Delicious food! So good we went last night for dinner and came back today for lunch.

Quick excellent service! I love the Thai chicken fried rice with a heat of #4. The vegetable spring rolls are to die for!

Placed an order with krab ragoon, dynamite roll, Mango sticky rice and a thai tea.
I get home and realize she gave me a side of sticky rice. Not the dessert mango sticky rice. They close from 3-4 & it’s 2:30 so I called and asked if they could fix the mistake.
The lady proceed to tell me I did not order the mango sticky rice & that I was wrong. I told her mama I’m sorry but you misunderstood I come here often and order the same thing every time. This is the first time I’ve ever had this mix up. Is there any way y’all can fix this? She proceed to have an attitude & tell me I was wrong. refused to fix the mistake told me I could place an order of the mango sticky rice. I told her no thank you & I would not be eating there anymore.
This has been on of my favorite restaurants for years & always recommend it to friends & family. That WILL NOT be the case anymore.

Went in for lunch around 2:15pm didn’t realize they closed at 3pm and reopened at 4pm…our waitress was very attentive but we felt a bit rushed because they wanted to closed for their break time. Our meal was nothing to write home about it was just okay I did not tasted that authentic Thai flavor.

Really amazing food but the service is very unorganized and slow. Great people however.

Good sushi.. when they say close at 2 it means close. So you needed to be there by 1:30 if you want served.

Thai food is my favorite however this was not my favorite Thai place… the food was a VERY bland. The restaurant was dirty. The server was rude and pushy…Maybe I went on a bad day…but I paid a a lot of money for terrible food… the Pad Thai wasn’t authentic at all… and chicken was old and rubbery

Super friendly staff,nice little place. Was there waiting on my to go order. Fair warning though their restroom is not a public restroom it is a customer only bathroom

Best Thai option in all of Bay county Florida. Never too crowded and has great authentic Thai dishes.

Drunken noodles were so delicious!! The Tom Yum was tasty but could've used a bit more heat.

Not crowded, pineapple fried rice was great and served in a half pineapple! Added spring rolls for each and was enough for 2. Lwill be back

Local Asian family owned and staffed. Excellent food with fresh herbs and flavors typically missing from many such places. Sushi is “Americanized” but fresh. Not a plush setting, but expenses saved on decor isn’t missed at all once you taste the food! We go often.

Best meal experience hands down, on our trip/visit to Panama city!
Authentic Thai cuisine...Incredible staff... bay view! This place reminded me of my travels in Bangkok. It was like eating at my grandmother's house in Thailand. The food was absolutely delicious, the atmosphere so very inviting! I'd give Thai basil 100 stars if I could....my favorite stop on my Foodie tour of Florida!

Really cute spot with delicious vegan options! They are very knowledgeable about how to make a dish vegan which is so appreciated. I got the pad see ew with tofu, no egg, no fish sauce and it was very good. I’ll definitely be back!

Great authentic Thai food. Unbeatable prices. 2.50 for Thai tea, definitely try the Tom Kha coconut chicken soup, and the fried red snapper with basil sauce. Best Thai I've had in a long time.
Service was such a nice experience, loved the energy the waitress had it felt so friendly, the vibe of the restaurant was also so positive, cozy and family friendly. Will definitely recommend to others

If you want Thai food or sushi in Panama City, this is the place to go!!
