Lao Ocean's owner was born in Laos, so we know our Laos food, but we also love food from other cultures that we bring to the table as well. We want to serve good food that we grew up with and love, and share it with everyone. We want everyone to eat- that's why we offer delicious vegan, vegetarian, gluten free options. We have a bigger menu because we want everyone to have something they can say they absolutely love.
Main foods on the menu are asian fusion (thai, laos, some japanese inspired, some vietnamese inspired) Authentic Laotian salads, Authentic thai stir fry, soups, curries. Japanese teriyaki, ramen, sushi, poke bowls and Vietnamese Noodle soups-pho.
We can make most dishes vegan, gluten free, or vegetarian upon request!
The food was good, however, I ordered online for takeout and was given a specific time to pick up my food approximately 30 minutes later. I went in to pick it up and they said it would be another 30 minutes. So I waited in my car. Went back in 30 minutes later and was told it was almost ready. 25 minutes later, I finally had my food in hand, no apologies, no added perk for the additional hour wait. Also the order was missing fortune cookies, peanut sauce and spring rolls. The restaurant had zero warmth vibe wise. The food was pretty good nonetheless. I will give them another try down the road to see if I can raise this review up. Please don't forget to follow me for the latest in reviews and pics! ☮️☯️👣
We've been coming here for 7 years, and I can't recommend it highly enough. Truly a cut above. You MUST get the Nam Khao -- it is this incredible umami bomb of crispy rice and sausage. The Laab is outstanding, their Laotian sausage too. Really everything we've ever had has been great, but the Nam Khao is the one thing I make sure to order every time!
Me and my son came by to only grab us a boba tea but the young guy at the front who took our order was extremely nice and patient and also helpful. His energy was the first thing we noticed. The boba tea was the best we’ve had so far even when we lived in Texas. Definitely will be back!
The food was fantastic, and so was the atmosphere. It was a little hard to talk to the workers, because they were not fluent in English, but other than that everyone was super cooperative and friendly. We ordered green curry and it tasted exactly how we wanted it to. The ramen also tasted pretty good, even though you could tell it was not made fresh.
Delicious! The fried pork belly is my favorite 🤤
Went here for a menu tour yesterday with some friends and we didn't take pictures because we were too busy enjoying and sampling everything! Absolutely delicious and authentic food!
My favorite Asian Food In Pensacola. Just a little pricey
Family favorite 😍
Great food for great price and portions! The fried rice is top-notch, definitely a must stop if youre craving asian food in pensacola! For older people, one plate is definitely enough for 2.

I waited 50 minutes to get my poke bowl and boba while I watched families who had entered after me get served after 10 minutes. The poke bowl was mediocre, with the most disappointing part being the serving size. The boba size was good, but the tapioca wasn’t cooked/warmed properly and was sticking to each other.
Had the Beef Pad Thai and it was amazing. Kind service and it’s clean! Will be back.
Very pricey for what it is. Pho was ok. Plate of sprouts and basil was very small. No cilantro came with it. My husband got the Pad Thai which was also overpriced and underwhelming. Looks like a cafeteria, you order at the counter, and get your own drink and condiments.
this place was so stingy w the rice! it was not enough. just a quarter cup for what they said was a quart of curry. it turned into SOUP. they were so mean bc I said something & then began ordering me around disrespectfully & yelling. when I yelled back at their BULLYING, they ordered me to leave. all bc they were too stingy w 10¢ worth of rice!!
they were consumer terrorists!! all for rice!
also the food was not hot enough to eat slowly & healthily for a good 20-30 min and still be hot when you're done. you cannot serve lukewarm food unless you want your customers SHOVELING IT IN AS FAST AS POSSIBLE AND LEAVE AS FAST AS POSSIBLE FOR MORE MONEY TO GET THRU THE DOOR!! OMG BULLIES & TERRORISTS!!!
I have never had seen so much food fir a single order. Two could have eaten one order. The food was hot and excellent. Might be the best I ever had.
Atmosphere is mello and quiet.Service is spot on.
Delicious food, wonderful staff, clean place. Nothing fancy but so good!
Food is very good! It took longer than expected to receive all that we ordered, but Mason has awesome customer service and was very willing to go above and beyond to improve our experience!
I got pad see ew with an extra choice of meat and the total was $65 including a 15% tip for take out. not worth the price for me and could be more flavorful
I got the drunken noodles. I’ve accepted that restaurants like this will always be a little different, and these aren’t my favorite I’ve ever tried. The chicken seemed a little dry in my opinion, but still edible. Everything else was very good! The service was phenomenal. I’m not local to the area, but I can see myself eating here again if I come back.
People were so kind and helpful, and the food was truly amazing! We stopped in trying to find açai bowls, which they did not have, but we stayed and got a bite to eat - and we are so glad that we did!
Delicious every time

Great food and each dish has its own unique flavor :-)
What a local treasure! I recently moved back to the Pensacola area and found Lao Ocean a couple weeks ago and I’ve become a regular patron. I’m working my way through the menu and I’m thoroughly impressed. Every dish has had a richness and depth far beyond the humble appearance of this restaurant. You can tell they love their craft here. The staff is friendly and the prices are reasonable.
The drunken noodle was exactly how i like it. The tom yum was well seasoned. Absolutely a must
Me and my son came by to only grab us a boba tea but the young guy at the front who took our order was extremely nice and patient and also helpful. His energy was the first thing we noticed. The boba tea was the best we’ve had so far even when we lived in Texas. Definitely will be back!
We ordered a pick up order for sushi and their pad Thai with chicken and shrimp. Sushi was absolutely the worst I've ever had. Wasabi was so dry and falling apart, that's a first. Sushi had zero taste. Pad Thai that was madd for us, used poor quality ingredients. The young kid working the front assured everything was packed inside. He was wrong. Food quality not good and do not recommend, try something else.
Poke bowl and coconut curry rice noodle soup were amazing!
This was the best shot I never knew about... highly recommend and the portion sizes are huge!
Decided to take out and man was I NOT disappointed! Best beef pho I've ever had... and the pad thai was excellent, all I can say is 5stars all the way! We will be back! Thanks for sticking around!
My first time having Lao food and oh myyyyy. Mee Ka Tee is my new favorite thing. Delicious - thank you!
Good food. A bit pricey. Very good service.
Wow wow wow. The food was amazing. People were super nice too.
This was my second time trying Lau Ocean, and I must say I was still a bit disappointed with my food. First, I want to acknowledge the gentleman who took my order—he was very pleasant, outgoing, and the perfect person to handle guests. I wish I had gotten his name.
I ordered the fried rice with added chicken and shrimp, which I thought was quite pricey at $23. I also ordered the "pillows," which are their version of crab Rangoon. The pillows were delicious—crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. However, the fried rice was a different story. It was a little greasy and overly salty. For $23, I expected more protein, but I mostly got a ton of rice, which felt like the cheaper part of the meal.
All in all, I don't think I would go back. If I did, I would definitely order something else.
Food was fresh and hot
Got the Pad Thai, I ate it too fast for a picture! It was delicious
I am from California and ever since we had moved here. It has been really hard to find really good food around pensacola. Until we found this place when we first moved. The portions are worth it with the price you pay for and they have so many different options of food on their menu that won’t disappoint you. Definitely worth trying!
PLEASE STAY IN GULF BREEZE!!! 3
Great selection of Asian food and quick lunch in convenient location.
Food was pretty good. Not the best but not the worst.
Excellent food, friendly service, and great place ro eat at.
I love this little place for great food (I LOVE their take on pineapple fried rice), a casual “hole in the wall” feel and always friendly staff
We ordered the chicken broth and it was delicious. The broth was consistent and was lovely with the noodles. The chicken was chewy but we were still able to digest it and it tasted amazing not gonna lie. The vegetables were normal and not that special. But the fish cake was on another level! It was a mix of sweet and was the best fish item that I have ever tried. The chicken nuggets were also pretty basic but they were amazing when dipped in their sauce. The shrimp sushi was very well made because it was soft on the outside but very crunchy on the inside. The red curry was a very good refreshing curry and was not to spicy. There are many other options but these are the ones we got and it was amazing.
Best curry meals in Pensacola! The punkin curry is the best!
Sushi was delivered without Soy Sauce or Chopsticks.
I found a hair in my food, a dead fly in the basket they served my rice in, and the rice came in a bag. The food tasted ok but the fact that there was hair and flies in my stuff was a major turn off and made my meal very unenjoyable.
We stopped here after a long day of driving on our way to Ft Pickens campground and just wanted something quick and easy. Mind blown, my husband and I were surprised to be enjoying what we both agreed was one of the best things we’ve ever eaten. I got the Nam Khao with fried tofu, he had the chicken laab. Also just as pleased with the 5-level spice level~ it’s usually never spicy enough and this was just right. We will be thinking about these meals for days! So good! Thank you!
I used to love this place when I first started coming over a year ago. I would be there sometime twice a week. I ALWAYS GET THE SAME dish. Eggplant stir fry and fried pork belly. So good! We stopped coming over the summer cuz the food started to taste different and could never get the spice level right, different cook I guess. Today we decided to give another chance. I order my eggplant stir fry and fried pork belly. I ordered 3 dollar Extra eggplant. What I got was less eggplant than what it would normally have. I usually get two fried chicken breast as my protein on the side. What I got was one chicken breast, if that ! 😤
The best pho!
Over priced, small portions, and far too sweet for my pallette. More veggies please...
You can have it Gulf Breeze.
The red curry was amazing! The flavor just just right. I loved being able to pick my exact spice level too. They give a great military discount. My only constructive feedback would be I would have appreciated a slightly larger portion of rice.
As good as advertised! We very much enjoyed the food. The young man at the checkout was very friendly and helped us get our order right!
It's take out! Good food I love their egg rolls and pork friend rice.
To noisy, to long of a wait for food, poor service.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Gulf Breeze and would highly recommend eating here if you’re just visiting. They have an assortment of various dishes and meals but I usually get the beef Phó. If you love adding spice to your food I would highly suggest asking for the “spicy fish sauce”. The restaurant makes their own in house spice mix of peppers and it’s absolutely amazing. I ordered the beef noodle soup and dressed it with hoisin sauce, crispy pepper oil, Asian hot sauce, and their spicy fish sauce. Included is the Thai bail, bean sprouts and extra jalapeños. The brisket is always so tender and juicy. Their staff is super friendly and accommodating and I eat here at least once a week.
Amazing vegan food options. This is probably the best Asian restaurant I have ever been to. Their Tom Kha is out of this world
My friend and I were really happy with the place. The drunken noodles were fantastic! The sweet tea was good, service was good, and we enjoyed the atmosphere. It was a nice place to eat. The prices were a bit high though.
Excellent pineapple fried rice. The ginger chicken was also great. Well worth a visit!
Excellent food, amazing service! We will be back! Appreciate the military discount!
What a great hole in the wall
Such a great place, i love coming here for the sushi. And the military discount makes it even better! Delicious every time.
I love Lao ocean. The flavor of their dishes are delicious. But today I don’t know exactly what happened, I ordered online around 11:15 . I knew my lunch break was going to be at 12:30, so I asked it be ready by then. Not only was it not ready , they couldn’t even find my order at first. So I ended up waiting till almost 1 o’clock to get my food. I understand things happen, but it wasn’t like I didn’t put it in early enough. I do wish the app on the website gave you an option to put in a gratuity . I like to pre-pay so I can just get my food and go. (when it’s ready on time)
The food wasn't really good. The papaya salad tasted like pickled papaya. It's not authentic. The sushi was fine but so small for the price.
Delicious dishes prepared to order.
Fast service and very friendly staff. Kelly was the first person I met and she guided me with my selection which was wonderful and had so much, I could bring it home and have enough for 2 more meals.
Outstanding food and service. The kind of deliciousness that makes you reflect on life and how blessed you are. Had the papaya salad, Jalapeño roll, pumpkin soup and Pina Colada Boba. Even ordered traditional sticky rice. I will definitely return.
Great Thai restaurant. We went right when they opened and ordered take out, and got our food right away. The pineapple fried rice and red curry weren’t the best I’ve ever had but they were still good. The Nam Khao/Lao Crispy Rice Salad was delicious!
Definitely 5 stars. If you're looking for a fine-dining experience, this probably isn't the right place. But that doesn't mean it's run-down; it's just a very casual atmosphere. You order your food at the cash register and then they'll bring the food to your table. And they bring a lot of food. The portion sizes are more than enough, and they're always delicious. Keep in mind though, that this is a Laos restaurant, which, while similar, is not the same as a Thai restaurant. That means that the dishes typically seen as Thai will be a little different than you're used to (although, they still have popular Thai options like Thai Iced Tea). All in all, this is a casual restaurant with great, large meal options.
One last note: my taste for spice is high, and if you're like me you'll want a spicy meal. In my experience, even the highest spice level isn't as spicy as I would want it. But this is of course more personal preference than anything.
Tasty, but a bit pricey. Great spice!
My Laotian buddy of mine took me here and said the quality was pretty good. It was my first time having Laos food and I was not disappointmented. I got the Red Curry, Tham Khem, and Shrimp Fried Rice. All were really good but the Shrimp Fried Rice was my favorite. I would definitely come back again.
Nice folks was busy
Great food.
Love this place! I've only ordered to go so I can't speak to the atmosphere. But I've loved every dish I've gotten.
First time ever eating this kind of cuisine and I have to say it was an amazing first impression. Very fresh and tasty!!!!
SO GOOD! Food is fresh, restaurant is clean, service is super nice. This has quickly become my and my family's favorite restaurant in the GB/Navarre area.
I usually get the thai basil stir fry or the pho - both are phenomenal. My father loves the curry so much that he usually gets some to eat in restaurant and another order to take home. I'm not much for spicy but he is, and I appreciate that they're willing to custom adjust the spicy for every dish.
I picked up food here; a delivery.
It's kind of like yummy poke.
Loved everything about this place. Worth it to try them out if you haven't. Food was delish.
Food came out well after others that came later got their food. Was missing the meat ordered, missing spice, and the table was dirty. I took the cleaning towel and spray bottle from the worker so that I could get my table clean after telling the workers the table was dirty and asking if they could please clean it. The overall flavor was ok but NOT worth $40. This is not THAT kind of restaurant.
Having run a restaurant before, I almost blew a gasket. What was the point of a number if you're going to wander around from table to table and ask people if they ordered what you're carrying? What's the idea of bringing out one order 15 minutes late then the next 15 minutes later? No no, I give praise where due but this place took every bit of my military bearing to restrain my inner drill sergeant from going off in there and demanding a refund. I am tempted to go back and demand a 25$ refund.
An excellent restaurant overall. Great service and price point.
Lao Ocean is just average. The food is hit or miss mostly because it lacks flavor sometimes. I don’t think I’d pick this place over Taste of Thai, even with the construction and traffic on that side of Gulf Breeze.
Loved the Pho!!
I would not recommend this place for any party over 2. Would make for a very confusing time as there is not really a waitress. This business needs waitress food is good
Will rock your socks every time.
Lao Ocean. Amazing. Period.
Searched for Thai spot around town, found this little gem. Google pictures do not do them justice. Very authentic and delicious lao/ Thai cuisine.
Ordered basil fried rice which was a new menu item, and curry noodle soup. Basil fried rice came out fresh and hot, with ton of ingredients such as Thai basil, yellow and orange peppers, carrots, and a choice of protein.
Curry noodles soup with rice noodles, light curry broth which is flavorful and creamy, topped with a choice of protein and red onion slice, fresh lettuce, and crush peanut.
On top of that, they had authentic homemade eggrolls which I was not planning to order until I saw someone else ordered them, they immediately caught my eye.
Strongly recommend if you are looking for somewhere not just touristy, and seafood orientated that is crowded with people.
Awesome Thai food
Good food, nice staff
Great food great staff great service
This place used to be delicious. Since the new ownership, the food quality has gone way down. Last time I was in to pick up an order was the last. I saw cockroaches crawling on the counter where they prepare the food and a 3 legged dog walking around the kitchen area. Do not recommend going there any longer.
I’ve never had anything I didn’t like here. I usually get a sushi roll and a large soup. It’s always delicious. DELICIOUS lol. The workers are super chill and very nice as well. Food comes out in an organized timely manner. Never disappointed
Caramelized pork was delicious
One of my favorite places to have lunch with my co-workers.
Good people good food large portions good poke
Always love some Lao Ocean! Quality everytime!
The Pork Shumai Dumplings, Crispy Chicken Teriyaki, and Pho Gai were excellent. Fresh and delicious, generous servings, beautiful to look at. Will definitely order from again!
Wonderful use of flavors! It's so nice to have a great Laotian place here! The curry soup is our go-to and the pho is the best we've had in the area.
Amazing food!!
Really great food.
Drunken noodles were so yummy! The place was clean and the server was pleasant.
Was a great spot. But they're changing and so now I'll have to change where I eat. Used to order and eat here for lunch all the time.
Excellent customer service and food of quality and freshness that is a step up from most Asian restaurants.
Nice Thai restaurant. Tasty food at reasonable prices.
Rather plain environment. The drinks and condiments are set up help yourself style.
Excellent fresh food! Next time we will custom order what we want in our sushi rolls. Fast, friendly !
Excellent food that is always consistent! I love having a local spot for vegan options.
Very good food. Highly recommend
The food here is so fresh and delicious. You won't be disappointed.
I would add more stars if I could. This is a place I wish I knew about sooner, however after having amazing 10/10 fried pork belly and sticky rice, I will be coming back on a regular basis. I want to try everything on the menu and I know that I will never be disappointed. Great place. If you are hungry, you must go here.
Heard how good this place was from a friend. Grabbed a coworker the next day and we went for lunch. I got the Lao Ocean roll and he got the fried pork belly with sticky rice. We had no words. This place is awesome! We work in Pensacola and will continue to make the trip to GB. 10/10
Wow! Amazing curry! - staff was super friendly. Will be returning and can’t wait to try other menu items.
Could not have asked for better food. We absolutely loved everything on our plates. The eel nigiri was fresh, and my boyfriend loved the laab entree. We had some of the "golden bags" and I have to say they were the best I've ever tasted. I need to know if the wrappers were homemade because they were CRISP and the filling was a great balance of crab and cream cheese. My only complaint was the pork in the caramelized pork dish was dry, but it was very good with rice 🧑🍳 thank you!!
Lao Ocean has become a regular lunch spot. The menu can be rather verbose, but the staff is very helpful and quick to help simplify it. Spice, by the way, is not overwhelming. Try the number two.
Wish I had taken a picture of the food but it looked to good to wait any longer. The sushi was GREAT. Service was friendly, timely and helpful. I'll definitely be back.
Do waste your time coming into this restaurant. There are plenty of workers but they’re just extremely unorganized and the “to go” ordered must get overwhelming for them. Not only did we wait 50 minutes for our food in the restaurant…we had to ask them to make it to go, so we could get home to our kids, they forgot sauces.
When we asked he girl why it took so long, she explained the to go orders were a lot, then when they realized they hadn’t got to our food, they had to finish the others first.
Not really sure the logic behind that. Food was warm, and tasted good but this isn’t the first time we have had issues with getting our food. Maybe they should only do to go(which still takes FOREVER) but then you run the chance of them forgetting something and having to go back. Not worth it.
Good food, nice place 👍🏼
I ordered two rolls and a poke bowl to go. It took 37 min to finally get the food and when I got it they had messed up the order. Went in and told them and they said sorry but I didn’t have another half hour to wait for them to fix it
Food was really good, got fried rice, veg stir fry, poppers, breeze roll, and mango Boba. Had take out the other day of pho, it was ok. Staff really nice. Would ear here again.
good service
Good, fresh food, diverse menu, clean, moderately priced. Would absolutely eat there again!
Sitting in the parking lot in front of Lao Ocean. The teenager working here started cleaning the exterior window at 2:30pm and then closed and locked the door and walked out to his vehicle at 2:40pm. Suppose to close at 3pm. A mother parked at 2:30 and pulled her infant stroller out. Set it up and placed her infant in then got her toddler out. Started walking over to discover that the Loa Ocean is already closed. I feel bad for her. Having kids myself it takes some effort to set up the stroller and get out of the car with an infant and a toddler. I watched all of this while I sat in the parking lot eating my yummy Chick-fil-A.
Pros: Great customer service. The young ladies in the front were very attentive and professional. Blown away by that service from girls that seemed to be high schoolers. The food was tasty and came out as advertised.
Cons: There was some information that needed to be updated. The hours on the door was wrong, and some items on the menu were no longer offered or just labeled wrong.
Ultimately would probably not go back. Wasn’t bad, but didn’t stick out for being a Lao specific restaurant. Felt too commercial.
So glad I found this hidden gem during my travels! They were out of the Laotian sausage, and it was recommended I try the crispy rice salad. I'm so glad I tried it! It was so fresh and crispy and savory. The taro bubble tea was also super refreshing on a hot summer day. :)
Good looking establishment. The restaurant looked clean. Friendly customer service as soon as you walk in. We order the chicken drunken noodles, pork fried rice, and a shrimp cruch roll. Food was good but average. Prices are on the higher end. The menu has too many items, which I think makes it harder to order given that there are no pictures for reference. (Have to rely on pictures from previous reviews) However, I do Love that they have a complimentary water station to the side.
