Food was fantastic. The restaurant was very crowded so service was slow, but once we ordered thr the food came almost immediately. Owner greeted every table and prices were reasonable. I will definitely go back!

My husband got the Amazing Trio, it was the perfect amount of spice for his tolerance, not too spicy but not bland, very delicious. I ordered the red curry with shrimp and let me tell you it was one of the best dishes I've eaten in this area. The flavor was out of this world, good portion size but I still wish there was more.

Update: lunch today was superb. Service the way it always was, friendly and efficient. Husbtlices the duck curry here and I ordered shrimp Pad Thai. The best I’ve had since Nit Noi closed in Houston , TX. I ordered medium spice and wow it was delicious. We love the chicken satay. New owners did take out plants which makes area more roomy for a small space. Veggie eggrolls and chicken rice garlic soup broth cones with lunch. The soup is so tasty! Overall, look forward to returning with a larger group after Thanksgiving holiday.

It’s located in an old strip mall — don’t let the exterior scare you off though. It’s a Thai sanctuary inside. Nicely decorated. Clean and so were bathrooms. Outstanding service too. We ordered Thai tea, chicken satay (peanut sauce served warm!),Tom Yum, Fancy Duck, and Panang Chicken Curry.
Can’t say enough good things, will return (soon)! PS: don’t wait until 5pm for dinner to arrive. This place was 3/4 full at 4:40pm. Standing room only at 5pm. Worth the wait though.

Update: Sept 2024, moved from 5 stars to 3 stars. Reasons: #1. “Canned Soda, no refills. #2. Price increase on menu. #3. Smaller portions. #4. No fresh flowers on table anymore (not significant but noticeable).

Best Thai I’ve had in a long time! I use to go before and it was okay but now it seems the food is more fresh and delicious! The staff are so friendly and welcoming and the owners are AMAZING!! The place is so much more open and inviting now!! Best thai tea I’ve ever had! I highly recommend this place for family or friends night!! I’ll be back soon!

Worst place to eat.

Been going here for years and it’s always been good told people to even come here but after today I don’t think I will ever come here again the rice was clumped like uncle Ben’s rice and it didn’t taste like jasmine rice the pineapple was canned the pad Thai was dry and tasted bland all the sauses that want with the meal were like water moral of the story is don’t come here

My first and last visit. Food was terrible. All dushes we had were made with frozen vegetables. Chicken was dry and tough. Don't waste your money here.

We used to love coming here. The food was always good and promptly made. The last few times I've come here I order chicken pad Thai with NO spice and they have given me the spiciest meal I've ever had in my life. Waste of money and not worth the drive back to get the right order.

They used to know their food. not sure what happened to this restaurant they took a nosedive in to bland town. Their food has lost its authentic Thai flavors. They managed to take Thai food into bad Chinese takeout zone. That is saying something!!

We love this little hole in the wall Thai restaurant. The food and prices are both great. Get the Crazy Noodle and chicken coconut soup. You won't be disappointed.

First time ever going there, and I can't wait to go back!
I ordered the Fresh Rolls with Peanut Sauce and was very pleased in the flavor & impressed with the size of them, as I'm used to much smaller ones at a different restaurant. I also had a bowl of coconut chicken soup, which was fabulous.

I wa pleasantly surprised walking in. Great decor!. I had a few issues with the food. The little soup tht came with my lunch tasted strange and the shrimp tempura was Overly battered but other then those two small things the noodles were amazing and generously portioned!

Since the take over of the new owners the restaurant has been in a decline. Sad because we loved going there but has gone down hill I don't see it surviving. Good luck we won't be back

Price increase, when I asked, got an uncaring mumble.

I recently visited Bangkok Thai for dinner. Let’s start with the positives: the Pad Thai and canned soda were enjoyable.

However, there were several downsides. The waiter mistakenly brought two servings of white rice, left them on the table, and later returned to take one away, saying only one was ordered. The shrimp fried rice was bland and lacked color. The music in the restaurant was excessively loud, making it hard to have a conversation. Lastly, the sweet and sour chicken was undercooked and tasted bad. When we returned it, both the waiter and manager were reluctant to address the issue. We will not be returning.

Enough to explain some of the meals

This place used to be one of our favorite Thai spots. After today we will not be going back. As soon as we stepped in I knew something was different and sadly I was right. The Bangkok rolls were greasy and chewy with less filling. The curry itself was great, but the veg and meat tasted precooked and reheated. My husband said the same about his dish. The whole thing was lack luster and actually left us both hungry and nauseous. To top it off, my husband said the beef was sour as if it had gone bad. Couple this with never being asked if we needed anything else (like a drink) or if everything was okay, I must say being ignored by staff and having a terrible meal is not my idea of a great time. There is another Thai place a few more minutes down the road, they are magnificent in every way and will be the only Thai restaurant we go to from now on.

Food is always great, even lunch which has smaller portions. Changed management about 2-3 months ago. Then new owner died & food is still great along with servce

We have been coming to Bangkok Thai since we moved here almost 15 years ago. It's founder, the beloved Paula, with her husband and her mother, who cooked, the place dazzled with delicious dishes, subtle flavors, and charm. Her sale of the business has not brought a change in ambience or service, but the change in food is perceptible. BT was known for subtle flavors, for umami, subtle but significant variance in flavors, always delicious. The current restaurant is a decent place, but the food is ordinary, no subtleties, and if I had to guess, one sauce (from a can?) is used with many different dishes. BT used to be a gem. It is now just a restaurant.

We don't have an opportunity to eat out often, but wanted to try something different for a change and needed take out. Ordered Satay, Pad Thai and Fried rice dishes for a group of us. Satay smelled wonderful but the meat (both chicken and pork) was so dry and chewy it wasn't enjoyable at all. Only had a couple of bites and it was all left aside. Same thing happened for the Pad Thai and Fried Rice. Chicken and pork were so dry and had no flavor...like they were cooked separately, reheated in a microwave and then added. So disappointed!! The pad Thai noodles noodles were yummy and the fried rice was fine, but I didn't spend $78 for noodles and rice. Called to discuss with the manager/owner, after all guests sadly voiced the same feelings, and was told the only thing they could do was replace the order.
I asked for a credit as it was late and guests were still there but told we had to bring the food back ???? OK, we did that the next day and were met with yelling and angry boss offering us a small portion of what we paid. Terrible customer service, especially after making 2 trips. Not so great end to a 20th Anniversary celebration. Won't be back!

The first time here, I'm from Wisconsin visiting my Dad with my kids, I loved the food, and the people were very nice and friendly..

Unfortunately, Paula and her Mom decided to retire. New ownership. Thank goodness Thomas is still there. The food was perfect under former ownership. We were regulars. The food is just not the same, not saying it is bad just not as much flavor. I wish the new owners well, and we will continue to support them and hope they add more flavor to the menu.

First time here was great. Second time a week ago was very disappointing. My wife ordered the whole fried snapper. Wondered why she asked for takeout box to bring it home. Found out at home they served her a very expensive spoiled fish. She just did not want to make a scene at the busy restaurant. There is no way the chef did not know he was serving a spoiled fish. It was nasty, smelly and off color. Must have thought the sauce and spice would mask it. We felt cheated and likely wont return.

We've been going to this restaurant for about a year and have LOVED it. Clean, good service and the best Thai food I've ever had. Whenever we have visiors we always bring them to Bangkok Thai.

A new owner came on the scene perhaps two months ago. He's been friendly coming around to tables and introducing himself. We told him how much we love the food and that we visit often, both in person and for pickup. We said "Please don't change anything!" and he said he didn't plan to. We've been in three more times... and we see some small things changing. Today we didn't see him.

I order the exact same thing everytime, so I have a baseline for comparison. The peanut sauce seems thinner and the flavor is a bit different. The satay chicken is a bit chewy and the pieces are a little smaller. The spring roll appetizer is much smaller, very noticible. The size brought out would compare to what they usually serve with the lunch special. We thought the appetizer WAS the spring roll they bring out was the lunch, but no it was not. They brought those out later and they had reduced in size so much there was barely any filling. The spring rolls were cool in the center which we had never experienced and the spring rolls included with the lunch were chewy, not crispy.

I'm not saying the food was bad, it's still good, especially our main meal, but it is slowly changing. Like us many people won't complain if it changes too much, they'll just stop going. Please don't change a good thing!

Everything on the menu is exceptional and the daily specials are always wonderful. The soups are so delicious! The crab Rangoon and fried wonton appetizers are very tasty. The curries are all flavorful and there are several great choices. The service is exceptional, quick and friendly. Try the iced Thai tea! They serve beer and wine, too. I love Thai food and this is a gem! Hands down the best Thai food you will ever eat!

Hate sharing negatives. Always good in the past. Under new ownership. My meal was forgotten so it was microwaved - chicken dry - noodles soggy. An incorrect meal and replacement likewise microwaved. I hope the new owner will bring this restaurant back to its original good quality and laid-back atmosphere.

We’ve been going to Bangkok Thai for a few years. They have a new owner. He is very nice and polite. However, our table all agreed that the serving size was smaller than before. I ordered the Pad Thai scallops. My wife order grouper curry. She also noticed her serving size was smaller. The food was delicious! I was surprised that there wasn’t a line of people waiting to get in which was also the case. I don’t know if we will return. New owners change things even when they say they don’t. There are a lot of new restaurants opening soon, so competition is inevitable.

I don’t understand the Fancy Chicken reviews that said this dish was good.
Ordered it for lunch. Crispy chicken strips were thin and rubbery. I have never had such tough and chewy chicken. No baby corn. Sauce in the dish was boiling hot.
I ate the white rice and vegetables only.
They weren’t busy and no one came back to see how the meal was. I just told our server about the meal when he brought the check. He said the hot sauce was to make the chicken not so chewy.

Recently taste has gone down in quality. We've eaten here a few times, it was better before. Also I was sick after eating the food this last time as well, so quality of ingredients has also gone down. Not vomiting sick, but body aches and a general bad feeling in my body for 24 hours after eating their food. PEOPLE we must start becoming aware that our food is poisoned. The corporations and the government support the poisoning. We must reject it. Buy organic! We must also call for a higher quality of organic because they keep changing the rules around it to lower its quality and poison it too. We must become aware or soon we won't have any food we can eat.

My fiancé and I came in yesterday early evening. We waited to be seated. The server was cleaning a table for four and motioned to wait. That was fine. Then four people came in and he motioned to them to get the table. He motioned to a table for 2 that needed to be cleaned. So he cleaned it and we finally sat down. He brought silver and went off. So we’re talking over what to order and it took several minutes til the tall young server came to take our drink order. He finally brings out my ice tea and a cup for my fiancé’s hot tea. A few minutes passed then his hot pot of tea came. We’re sitting there waiting to order. Then people sat down by our table and it’s not long that they’re eating! Even the four people that came in behind us are also eating! My fiancé tried to get the older lady’s attention that was serving the tables beside us and she looked at him and just ignored him. Walked away. We got up and left. It was so humiliating!
Even the woman sitting next to us was wondering why we weren’t being served.
We had eaten there before and the food, the service was great. We’re never going there again!

Can't tell you about the food because I waited there for over an hour with several other ladies and we never got to sit down. They don't take your name you wait in line. You have to wait outside. The place is very small. I don't care how good the food may be the waiting is ridiculous.

The food is really good but expect to wait. Once you're finally seated you can expect to wait 25 to 30 minutes before someone comes to your table to ask what you would like to drink. We live in the area and we actually quit going because the service is so terrible. Once you finally get your food they will rush you out the door. Don't expect to hang around talking to family and friends relaxing having a couple of drinks before or after dinner. Haven't been in several months. Went back tonight when they opened at 4:30. Sat there for 30 minutes before someone finally asked what we would like to drink. I don't know about you but after a long week, I want to go and relax having a drink and appetizer, talk, and catch up with my family. This is not the place to do that.

Lovely little local spot, though it can get a bit crowded during dinner hours. Server was friendly and attentive. I especially like the garlic and pepper chicken. For fans of coconut, they have a huge selection of dishes that use it. They also have a few things I don't normally see, like duck.

This family run business has never disappointed us with the exception of when you really want to eat there and they are closed. I've eaten many things. Highly recommend Shrimp or Tofu panang curry, Pad Thai, Fried Rice, Vegetable rolls, donuts for dessert. I've eaten alot from their menu, but those are my highly recommended items.

Been eating here for years. Last time was tonight. Ordered drunken seafood. Which used to be my favorite. It came to me with 2 Scallops, 3 shrimp and a remnant of squid. About half of what it used to be, for $16.99. I asked the waiter about the serving size being half of what it used to be. He shrugged his shoulders and went to get the manager. The manager lady acted as if I was wrong in saying that the serving size was small. No offer to make it right. No accountability at all. Just, "nope", that's all we give you. I've eaten drunken seafood at this location at least 5 times. I handed her my plate. (I had eaten exactly 1 shrimp and 1 scallop.) They charged full price. No apology. Best Thai Food in Citrus County. My wife had Pad Thai with Shrimp and Scallops. I had Pad Baa Mee with Shrimp and Scallops. Also a Chardonnay and Heineken in a frosted glass. Everything was amazingly good. Happy Valentine's Day.

Best chicken pad Thai and sweet Thai tea in the area!

This is by far the best Thai
Restaurant I have been to and I have been to many.
The food is outstanding.

This place has some of the best Thai food I have ever had. I’m going to miss it now that my mother has moved out of the area.

A hidden gem in a barren wasteland of good restaurants. Food and service are always good.

Excellent food, clean bathrooms fast service . Good prices , recommend a reservation if you don't want to stand for a 1/2 hour or more.

Oh how I wish we lived closer to this place! Yellow chicken curry is so good. We don’t have any good Thai food in The Villages. Please open a restaurant there!

Walked into to a surprisingly beautifully decorated and very clean restaurant. They had just two people running a very busy night and they did an amazing job running it so smoothly no one waited for anything and all the courses came smoothly and in a timely manner. They did absolutely fantastic.

The food itself was also just phenomenal! We tried 4 different dishes and they were all so delicious and hot & fresh. 10/10 recommend!

Very nice atmosphere. Our food were ok except the fried grouper filet that we questioned if it was really a grouper. $17 for Very thin, tail end piece, not as good quality as we expected. The basil sauce that served with it was tasty though.

Beautiful restaurant, very clean. Service was excellent. Appetizers: vegetable rolls, chicken satay- really good. Wonton soup- good. Chicken fried rice was very disappointing… super bland and was the texture of boiled rice. Not good. Food came out quickly which was above average. Overall we won’t go back because our main dishes weren’t up to standard.

We backpacked South East Asia in 2019 and have been wanting to try Bangkok Thai for a long while. So glad we finally made it! It was perfect :)

• We arrived around 5:10 and had about a 10 minute wait because every table was full
+ The staff was on point, drink orders taken and received quickly, we ordered Thai Tea and Thai coffee (Thai= with sweetened condensed milk) , waiter also brought two waters with lemon for us
+ Food order shared: Steamed dumplings (5), Green Curry Chicken w/white rice, Pad Thai Chicken, and the Amazing Trio w/white rice.. Each one was hot, delicious, perfect portion, affordable prices...
• We asked for the small plate of hot sauces and fish sauce to compliment the meal as we like it ..... 52 total spent plus tip

Food was very good. Pretty well attentive staff. Nice and cozy atmosphere.

UPDATE:
Have to drop a star because last night when my son and I were there dining we told the waitress my son is allergic to cashews and one of the meals that has cashews in it she said they could take out. Needless to say there was about half a dozen cashews in the bottom of his plate when he was almost finished he did not eat the any cashews, had a very slight reaction, but they should have been more careful cuz it would have been an emergency room visit.

I also bit down on something that was crunchy like sand but I did not want to thank much about it other than that good portions and very tasty as usual

Big portions, very tasty and authentic Tai food.

In all of Florida this restaurant is my absolute favorite to go to for their Thai curry. If you go, you have to try the Masaman Curry. You won't be disappointed.

The only downside that I noticed is that they were too popular and it takes some time to get a seat. (Worth it!)

Nice people. My go-to spot for Thai food. Stop by weekly for lunch. You can't beat the overall value, and service. Even with a 50% tip it's less cost than faster alternatives.

Went there a couple weeks ago. Had the chicken pad thai, crab Rangoon, and a Thai iced tea. All delicious! Definitely on my list of places to visit much more in the future.

Amazing food! This is our go-to restaurant for lunch/dinner. We always feel like family when we’re eating here. Never fails that the food is wonderful, customer service is great, and very affordable! I love this restaurant.

I've been coming to Bangkok Thai for a while, their food is always amazingly good and hot.
The workers are friendly. Thomas already knows what i like to drink when i show up. Hes a very kind and sweet fella also very hard working. Mrs.Paula is very hard working ,always on top of trying to make sure all tables are taken care of. This food establishments has became one of my top most favorite places to go and eat when i have the money and time. And im always grateful for their service. I spent one of my last days coming by to eat for the last time for a while before moving out of Florida for the time being.
Thank you for making ever visit worth it.
This review is late on date do to being busy settling into my new area but i wanted to show my appreciation to my favorite restaurant and all the workers even the cooks for all the amazing food.

On Saturday 08/19/23, Transaction# 601266. My wife and I stopped by to have dinner. My wife's choice was N. 2 Pad Thai and I ordered the FR. 1 choice fried rice beef.... I must say, we were very disappointed with the dishes, after they claim authentic Thai food!
It tasted to us like it was frozen and reheated food , or better yet came in a frozen bag and microwaved food.
The only thing good out of the whole meal, was the crispy spring rolls.
We didn't complain to the restaurant manager, because they were very busy 😕.
Lost good to be customers.

Great place to get Thai food ! Been here several time … I would have giving it 5 stars , however when we ordered take out… it was not the same … the order looked like it was prepared by another chef or another Thai place all together!!! The flavor was odd and not as fresh as if ordering at the restaurant !! It even looked different ! Stick to coming in instead of ordering out I guess…

I have been coming here for many years, and the quality of the food has never diminished. Their Massaman curry and coconut soups are some of the best I've tasted and look forward to going there every time. Nicest owner's ever and feel like family.

First time here and it was good. I’m not the biggest fan of Thai food personally, but my mother in law absolutely loves this place and comes weekly. The service was quick and friendly. The staff are very knowledgeable and sweet.

Great restaurant! It was very busy when we arrived, but we still got a table fairly quickly. The food was good, and there were vegan options available.

Tonight was the first time we ordered from Bangkok Thai and I can say we will be ordering again! The food was phenomenal, as well as the service. I ordered take out, and they were quick to have everything ready. We ordered Chicken Red Curry, Fancy Chicken, and Frog Legs in Garlic and Pepper. Everything was perfect!!

My first time. The food was good but the coconut based soup and coconut based Panang Curry was too sweet for my taste. I am used to a spicy, savory taste. I will be back to try some other types of dishes.
