What makes Thai food so special is the very fact that everything is fresh and prepared for the instant you’re going to consume and this place is great because it is no trouble for them to serve vegans compared to so many other Thai restaurants that cannot do it.
All I wanted was a pineapple friend rice with veggies and when I said “vegan version” she knew straight away I didn’t want any oyster/fish sauce nor eggs.
This is THE BEST pineapple friend rice I’ve had in a long time…
Average tasting sushi. Prices are ok. Not sure if I woukd return to it, perhaps to try those drunken noodles. Ordering the sushi combo adds some value as it comes with miso soup and salad. But again in my opinion the sushi is lacking, not sure if xue to freshness or ingredients. maybe it was not made fresh at the time we order it.
I came with the expectation that they either their thai or japanese food would be better than the other but was surprised both the thai food and japanese food was very delicious and fresh tasting. Their pad thai and tom kha was really delicious. Their ocean roll was also very good. Toilet was a little dirty but definitely would come here for the food.
Zumo Thai has the best Thai food in the DMV area. I can only recommend it. The excellent food is always paired with wonderful service. I have been coming here for several years and Zumo Thai never disappoints.
Very fresh sushi and friendly service. Highly recommend !
Excellent food and service!
The ga prao minced chicken was not very good tbh. I'd recommend people get a different dish. Service was great.
Warmed up at ZumoThai with a decent ~$20 meal here one recent rainy night. The soup was flavorful and plentiful, and the dishes that other people ordered near me made me curious to come back for more.

Amazing food and great service. Good portions and prices too
Absolutely amazing food! The food was ready quick and extremely flavorful. Will definitely come back the next time I am in DC.
Very delicious food and excellent customer service (very friendly). Highly recommended place to come and have a great meal alone or with your family.
Great service! Delicious ramen! Awesome sushi! Yum Yum!
This is one of the best Thai restaurants I have ever dined at. The ladies were so nice and helpful. The food was so good that we decided to grab a late night take out after our dinner. The green curry, pad thai, and fried chicken with Thai fried rice were all delicious. We would definitely come back here when we visit DC in the future.
I went during a very busy time to dine in. The line was out the door it was a conference. I ordered my food and found a seat by the window not a table, a bar. It was very tight I just wanted 2 sit and eat. I went to pick up my food and sit back down and the server was moving my things. I told here I was just grabbing my food but I was going 2 sit and eat. She told I could not dine in because I ordered take out. I only ordered take out because my break was limited but I intended to eat in. Either way I was still a paying customer. The food was ok. Based on service I won't return. Plenty of options in the area
The food is edible and warm. But it could not described as authentic, delicious or excellent cuisine. Ordered Fried Veggies Tempura, Tom Yum Soup & Pad Ga Prao.
This literally has to be the best thai place on this earth. I have never tasted food so good in my life. Their Thai fried rice and panang curry was amazinggg!!!
The worst drunken noodles I've ever had. Ate half dumped the other half!
Tom Kha with chicken 8/10
Spring rolls 9/10
Shrimp Shumail (steamed) 10/10
crunchy yellowtail roll 10/10 Simple roll but wow so flavorful! I loved everything
Our waitresses were absolutely amazing!!! Impeccable service! Fresh and tasty food!!! I highly recommend if you are in the mood for Thai!! We had sushi, drunken noodles, fried rice and a few other items. Mmmmm!!! Thank you!! 😊
Sehr leckeres Essen und super zuvorkommender Service. Ich komme definitiv wieder. Danke, es war klasse.

Sensational sushi. Great prices.
Great food, great service!
One of the best red beef curries I had in the last couple of years. The kid was happy with sushi.
Found this by accident while exploring at lunch. Sushi Combo is well worth it! Incredibly fresh. I will be back!

Very helpful staff - were able to reshare a receipt with me a month after I lost it.
Food and service were bad. And they don’t serve alcohol 😢
Most of the dish are sweet and don’t really like it cause of the sweetness
Pineapple fried rice was so good, the service super fast and friendly.
The price is about the same as the rest of Chinatown :)
Fried rice is bland. Totally unseasoned and flavorless. Ordered medium spicy and there's not even a hint of spice. The veggies seem fresh but that's the only redeeming quality. If you want real Thai food go to Baan Siam up the street.
Small place but best food & service
Excellent service. Tasty food. I find Chinatown to be very hit or miss. This was a welcomed hit. Very convenient to the Arena.
very yummyyy my mom and i stopped in here for dinner during our trip out to dc! she wanted thai fried rice and i wanted a poke bowl so this place was perfect since it served both! very nice and attentive staff. highly recommend this spot :)
Went to Zumo Thai with a big group of picky eaters for dinner since they offer both Thai and sushi options and we couldn't have made a better choice.
Staff are friendly, attentive and eager to assist with recommendations, answer questions and accommodate dietary requests.
The restaurant is bright, clean and cozy.
Everything was absolutely delicious - perfectly seasoned, savory, freshly made and served hot.
We were so hungry from the enticing aromas that we grabbed our forks and didn't talk until we had eaten every last bite.
Thai ice tea is soo good and there's a great beverage menu with lots of non-alcoholic drinks.
It was soo good that we forgot to take pictures!
Great spot with a menu filled with so many good choices whether you're alone or especially with a group.
Awesome food and service!!!!
Fine Thai place. The food was mid, service was OK. If you’re in the area it’s fine but there are better places in DC.
Amazing, amazing Thai food. Amazing, amazing service. My party had red curry, drunken noodles, gyoza, and jasmine tea. All of it was the best we've had!!! Can't recommend this place enough!
Before I just come off as some salty patron- the phi phi island drink was great as was the sushi. The staff members are nice and smiling and welcoming.
I had an order of the 3 plates of sushi for 22 dollars (which is a steal if you ask me!) - gyoza, and miso. The sushi came out and was great the wait was a bit long but I didn’t mind (at first) however I waited about 5 minutes before I had to ask for chopsticks/silverware to be able to eat my food and another three to receive a dish for soy sauce. I’m giving the food a three star rating because the order took so long I didn’t even want the things I was missing any longer.
My waitress was nice enough- and I don’t normally mind language barriers because you can normally explain but it didn’t seem to be going well. I wish we had the younger girl that seemed a little more seasoned as a waitress and I saw her moving quickly and checking often on the other tables she was serving. Whereas we were left to flag our waitress down multiple times- she’d glide past and often didn’t hear us calling for her.
I never received my miso so I simply asked to take it off because I didn’t want it anymore. She s didn’t seem to understand at first so I just stated no miso. My friend had ordered some desserts that we also ended up waiting over 30 min for she asked the lady if it was being made as we were still waiting and the waitress seemed to freeze and then slowly stated it was already made about to come out (I tried to get her to cancel it but she really wanted to try the mango sticky rice so she asked for it to go) we still ended up waiting for another 15 min. I ask for my bill (waited another ten to fifteen for that). The total was 72 dollars and some change. I gave the lady a 100 dollar bill and ask for my change. She had the AUDACITY to look at the receipt and point at the tip portion! I told her I know what it is and to give me my change! Had to wait another ten minutes for that. I made sure I counted it. I was going to leave her only 10 dollars but 18% was 13 dollars and I understand she’s working so I gave her that AND my friend gave her an extra 5 dollars even i didn’t think the service was good.
It’s to my understanding a woman owns this shop and I do think that is amazing- however I would have to say she should place her fastest and seasoned waiting persons as servers and let them know not to go pointing at the tip when they THINK they won’t be receiving one (13 (which is 18%) is fine but that service was not worth the 28 dollars (which would have been closer to 30%) she thought she could get by POINTING) I have no problem tipping so I didn’t appreciate the gesture at all.
Phenomenal Thai food! We are picky about our Thai food, having lived in Thailand for a few years. It's so hard to find authentic and delicious Thai food, but this place ranks #1 in our estimation (family agrees)! We ordered several menu items, including the mangoes with sticky rice. Everything we ordered was simply amazing - and I can honestly say - the best mangoes with sticky rice I've ever eaten. So yes, if 10 stars were possible, we'd give it 10 star rating.
Great sushi, big portions. Friendly staff. Will be back.
Went last year when they first open and the food and service was great. Came a year later and you find that there is no one to greet you and know if there were people waiting ahead to get a table. The server seemed annoyed and his facial expressions came off rude. Food took so long to come out. We waited almost 45 mins. People around us were annoyed and angry with the wait. They took take out orders ahead of those sitting and waiting. Seemed like they were short staffed. The food was good though but it wasn't worth the wait.
I was really really disappointed by this PadThai. It had nothing to do with the dish. Not saucy and kind of dry. It had vegetable like zucchini in it which doesn’t fit at all and just missed the whole PadThai flavor to me. It was definitely not worth my money. Last time I went there it was yummy but not coming back unfortunately for those prices…
probably the best Thai food I’ve had on the East Coast! The Pad Thai and Pad See Ew was phenomenal! Chicken wings as appetizer had the perfect crisp. You could tell everything was freshly made and the service was excellent.
Offered many options, I tried drunken noodles and pad thai, both were quite good (portions are relatively large)
I’m from Florida and am a bit picky when it comes to sushi (as any Floridian should be). The sushi is pretty damn good here though. Also had the drunken noodles, which were awesome!! Give this place a try, when you visit Chinatown.
Server was very kind. Food was awesome. Dining area was clean and music was great. Highly recommend the pad Thai and sushi
In DC for work and the crew went to Chinatown for a bit of late evening goodness.
We found Zumo Thai - good rating and nice walk from the hotel. Arrived after dinner rush and before late night rush.
We had a variety of dishes including Tom Kah, Green Curry, Pad Thai, and spring rolls.
Everything was very tasty and fresh! The spice level was kicked up a notch and well worth the kick!!!
Recently went here and the wait staff complained about the tip we were leaving. Ruined the entire experience after leaving. Consider raising wages for staff.
🤩 S P E C I A L 🤩
This food was just amazing, honestly. Nothing makes me more happy than eating good food. Absolutely delicious.
The food was tasteless and overpriced.
This place has great food. I recommend the gyoza soup, pad si ew noodle, and pad Thai - obviously. The service was great and they were very attentive to us. I will be back!
The food is good, but since it is so requested, the service people constantly push you to get up and leave, it is the only thing that damages the experience.
Nice and cozy spot to chill. The food was fast and tasty as they are. We had some stir-friend noodles which was very nicely savory and had some roll combo— such a bargain for sushi, tasty and light-hearted spot.
Great place with vegetarian and Brendan options
Super tasty food
I never have this a fried calamari in some where else. Only Sumo thai served 2 different sauces for it.It makes this dish pop up and so yummy until a last bite. All sushi is very good quality and rice wrapping is very thin. Mango sticky rice is nice presentation in a heart shaped. We will be back again. 😊😊
The food was hot but missed on a couple details as requested. The sign on the front did say SOFT OPENING, so will come thru later on and try again.
Shame
Terrible food
Avoid at all cost.
3/30/24
Had a great time here with friends coming from the SoCal. Their standards are high as far as thai food and always compares them to the ones back home. No idea how food is in the homeland but as far as LA thai food standards this place doesnt disappoint. Red curry is awesome and so is the pork fried rice (has that distinct slight smoked flavor - dunno how they do that 😆). They also serve Japanese food and according to my friends they were not bad at all but Im here for thai food. Will be adding this to my list of favorites.
I had the fried chicken fried rice and my friend had the drunken noodles. Both were generous portions and a good value. The food came out quickly and services were excellent the entire time, that glass of water was never left empty for long! I highly recommend this place!
Awful. Chicken is cold (maybe they need to micro wave it before serve) and medium spicy translates to extra sweet for pad Thai. On the list of awful pad Thais that I keep.
My fiancée and I came here the other day for lunch. It was empty, so we were scared, but my God the food was good. The portions for the price were incredible. I have tried Pad Thai in a handful of places and this one could be one of my favorites. We also ordered the volcano roll. It was a bit spicy, but it was fun. The waiters (owners?) were very kind and kept filling our water. I would easily come back here, or would even take a few friends for a nice chat and nice meal. I'll be moving to DC soon, and I'll be coming back.
The food was great. I ordered the Pad Thai noodles and I was craving pineapple fried rice. That was my first time having Pad Thai noodles and I’ll definitely order again, but the pineapple fried rice could have been better if there was a little sweetness in there somewhere. It tasted like plain fried rice that they threw cooked pineapple in with, not really any pineapple flavor throughout. I took off 2 stars for service because I ordered at work as I’m sure most people around here do, and they included not one condiment or utensil or napkin. Very inconvenient.
Perfect for a quick meal.
Nice little place. I would go back there.
This place is so cute and the food is amazing!!
Excellent sushi from such an unassuming restaurant! Red curry was very good as well.
What an amazing place! Stopped there early afternoon on our DC trip and was simply...amazing! The soups full of flavor and clean taste, the pad thai, incredible and my wife loved her complex, yet perfect salmon bowl. Service was filled with smiles in a warm and creative atmosphere. Thank you so much and we will be back for more! This is a must place to visit in DC.
Gyoza is soooo good!
Delightful hole-in-the-wall Thai and sushi restaurant in the Chinatown area that is reasonably priced for DC. Service was very pleasant and unobtrusive, with drinks being refilled without us even having to think to ask. I had the drunken noodles with tofu, which was pleasantly spicy and properly greasy. My son had a sushi combo meal with salad and miso soup. The spicy crunchy yellowtail was particularly good.
This is the first restaurant I’ve ever reviewed.
I felt the 4.5 rating was deceptive because my food was flavorless. I ordered delivery, so service and atmosphere are not included in my review.
I moved here from out of state and Thai is the top food cuisine I eat after Japanese. I was extremely disappointed with my pad thai. I asked for extra spicy, but the noodles were practically white, devoid of seasoning or sauce. My boyfriend had the red curry and Tom Kha and felt similarly to me.
Still looking for a good Thai place in DC; unfortunately, this is not it.
Would I repeat: absolutely. Green curry was fantastic. When I ate here, it was packed. There wasn't another seat in the entire restaurant. Understandably, it took a while to get served. Because of the size of the establishment, we were packed in pretty tightly. But once our order was taken, food came out promptly. The price was pretty good as far as lunch places go - but the curry was great.
Love the soup and fried oysters
We stopped here before a game at capital one and had a great dinner! We ordered a couple rolls of sushi, drunken noodles, and panaang curry. The sushi was extremely fresh and the salmon/tuna rolls were great. I got the eel roll however and I noticed they skimped on the eel a lot. It basically tasted like a cucumber roll. The drunken noodles were phenomenal. So chewy and thick and flavored really well. I personally enjoyed the panaang curry but my boyfriend didn’t. It was very sweet so if you don’t like your panaang extra sweet I wouldn’t get it.
Go there for excellent food, prepared quickly and served by warm, friendly servers. Decor is modest.
First time here. The food was amazing. Everything came out hot seasoned and well flavored. Staff was always checking up making sure everything was going well. Everything was delicious some would give 5 star however I only give 4s because there is alway room for improvements.
We got salmon and veggie sushi to-go and it had a weird taste. Not sure if it was the rice, the soy paper, or the fish, but there was an odd metallic smell and taste. We ended up throwing away most of the salmon sushi.
It's so emotive.
Great service and the food was very fresh and delicious
Great little place. I've ordered online for pick up and have dine in also. Friendly and clean. Food is wonderful. Eat maybe twice a month as our office is nearby.
Just a couple of blocks from SAAM and the Portrait Gallery, this little restaurant isn't fancy, but the food is good and service is fast and friendly. I didn't want anything spicy so I chose Pad-Si-Ew Noodles ($15.95), with lots of chicken and vegetables in a light sauce and Thai Iced Tea ($4.95). Close to the Gallery Place Metro.
It is a small place, but the food was delicious and the sushi amazingly fresh. Definitely recommend.
Cute little spot in that heart of the city. Trying it on a whim but the food was excellent! The service was quick, and catered to my vegetarian needs.
Tried the spring roll, tom yum and panang curry - all vegetarian. The flavors were great and we were in and out within 50 mins.
We were headed to a concert at capital one arena and wanted to stop by some place for a quick dinner! We kept walking and bumped into this place. We are soooo good we did! The food was absolutely delicious and very fresh! I ended up getting a poke bowl and boy was that fish delicious! Very nice cuts with good texture and overall the flavor was super nice!
We got there right before it started to get busy. This place is obviously a favorite! It was so cold that night and people were willing to wait outside until a table opened up!
In the bento box there was a spring roll, but it was so yummy we couldn't wait for the picture haha! The portions were great and filling!
I definitely want to come back and try some of their other stuff! ❤️
Also I would like to note that the staff are super nice and helpful!
Drunken noodle was over cooked, the water tasted weird and food came out really late. Server is very unresponsive
Great food, Pad Thai with Tofu Is nice.
Came here yesterday for a quick sushi lunch!
Service: Service was really great, the waitresses were friendly and took my order quickly. The food also came out quickly too!
Food: I ordered two sushi rolls. They were alright, the rice was a little hard so it wasn't anything to write home about.
Atmosphere: It's a little hole-in-the-wall kind of place, it was clean and cozy.
Great food bad service
Please note that Zumo Thai charges a “convenience fee” if you pay by credit card. If you want to pay by cash to avoid this, then you have to order at the counter and not at the kiosk. As for the food itself, the chicken Pad Thai was prepared well. You can also specify how spicy you want it. This takeout order did take almost 20 minutes to fulfill, which is a bit long.
I forgot to take pictures of our food, so I took a picture of my receipt. When I reviewed my receipt and discovered there was a service charge in addition to my 20% tips. I contacted the restaurant, and they will remove the service charge. Meanwhile, my review of the food was very good, and prices are reasonable for the Convention Center and Chinatown areas. I rarely gave 5 stars rating. This place is highly recommended.
Updated. I received the credit for the service charge as promised.
I’m we had the spring rolls, fried tofu, and fried rice with chicken. Everything was great!
The sushi was incredibly fresh. I got the Sushi Delux and every piece was delicious, even the ones I had never tried before! Service was a bit slow, but they were very busy.
We're staying downtown and was looking for a nice Thai spot to eat. It's interesting although this is listed as a restaurant it gives me carry out vibes. Service was great however.. as soon as we sat down we received our menus a minute later we received our Waters when we placed our order it came out relatively quickly. I think a restaurant requires more space we were sitting right by the front desk where you pay and check in the tables are a bunch of smaller tables put together and it's not a lot of space but overall good food, okay atmosphere great service.
Coming from a town on the ocean I was delighted at the freshness of the fish. Also the paddy straw mushrooms in the soup were a delight!
Compare the "Crispy Duck Noodle Soup" in the picture on the menu to what you put on the table. A shame ! If I order hot tea, then I want HOT tea. Not warm, not slightly hot, but HOT tea. And if you have free refill, then you don’t need to bring only warm water. I don't brew one tea-bag several times.
Pretty good off Uber eats. Wish the sushi was packaged separately from food as it came hot. But understandable only so much can be done there.
The Pad Ga Prao was tasty, but did not come minced like it was pictured. Asked for “Thai spicy” and it most definitely was not. Rice portion was small. Just be a bit more clear in your instructions when ordering from here.
In short, expected authentic Thai, got Americanize Thai. But it was very good American Thai.
Muy amable las personas y muy rico.
Food was very good & fairly priced. We had 2 appetizers and 2 entreés. Staff was kind. I would definitely go back.
Food was good, but spice was lacking. Asked for thai spicy and got what most places would call a level one or two out of five. Staff was great too.
Good little restaurant with a good variety of vegetable based sushi rolls
Très bon petit resto de quartier. La nourriture est bonne et le service agréable.
What the heck! You might walk by this place, but you'd be missing out. It's not much to look at, but the food is amazing, and the people are awesome. Would very much recommend. A wonderful surprise.
Closed 1 hour early.
food was amazing!!!!! service was great and the people were so nice!!
We were just there on July 12th 2023. Food was really good. I had pork cutlet curry and it was delicious. There was plenty of food for me. My daughter had katsudon and she thought it was good. That is amazing because she is very picky. I recommend a stop there for some good Asian food
I stopped by for a late lunch/early dinner at around 4 pm. Service was excellent—fast accommodating, and attentive. The food and drink was also delicious. I got a thai tea and it was delicious and lightly sweet, just how I like it. The miso soup was the perfect amount for an appetizer. I also got the pad see ew, and it had great umami and noodle texture. Would go again!
I was staying at a nearby hotel so I decided to give this place a try. The front desk was busy, so I ordered on the computer screen next to the front desk. It assumed it was a to-go order (system never asked) and my red curry chicken, rice, and coke to drink was all in a bag. I opened the bag to eat in the restaurant and there was no silverware, so I had to ask the staff for that. The red curry chicken was one note. I prefer a more complex taste with curry and coconut milk, this tasted watered down for some reason. There was very little chicken in the dish, it was almost all sauce. Almost no vegetables in the dish as well. I left hungry and went to get a snack at a nearby Walgreens.
