At Thai Pad, we believe that good food begins with the chef and ends with the guest. Since our founding in 2015 by a group of four families, we've been committed to offering a superior Thai dining experience in the Van Ness neighborhood of Washington D.C. Our passion is to deliver the best Thai cuisine in the city, using the freshest ingredients to create dishes that are both authentic and affordable.
Enjoyed lunch with a friend here. We sat outside and while the weather was lovely, the trucks going by on Connecticut Avenue made it hard to hear. Our meals of the lunch special were tasty and spiced just enough to enjoy without mouth burning. I liked my Pad Ginger with Pork served with a green salad with a memorable peanut sauce. My friend liked her Pad Thai with Chicken served with a taro roll.
This was my favorite spot until I started using Uber eats with them. I have consistently received orders where notes were not followed. Blan inconsistent food. I got pad thai that some how the forgot the sauce to cook in it just blan noodles every dish I ordered was tasteless! Waisted a 100.00! Then if you go into the restaurant the wait staff is blan too. They keep bringing out dishes but don't take the old ones up until you say something! If I'm spending 200 in-person I expect a smile and decent table service. Unfortunately on the the white customers get the extra smiles and I'm half Asian. Dam shame!
My go to Thai spot!! Such delicious food. I love their sukhothai and duck noodle soup - so authentic. Highly recommend!
I love the Pad Thai! I get this frequently for take-out. Service is always quick, and the staff are friendly, kind and welcoming. One of these days I will eat-in and enjoy the restaurant experience. Lovely neighborhood gem.

This place is amazing. I loved the service. I had the drunken noodles and I definitely recommend you feast here … this place is so buss. Thank you.
Generous portion of delicious pad Thai

The green salad was impeccable 🥹🙏🏾
Pleasantly surprised! Lovely local spot, food was pretty good and the pricing was okay. They have a lot of classic dishes as well as some traditional and creative options. Will be coming again.
Favorite spot for a weeknight dinner or dinner with friends or lunch… safe to say it’s my favorite spot. Get the drunken noodles! The lunch special is very affordable and worth it
Good Quality and nice portion size very tasty.

If you were to ask me if the food is good here, I would say yes…it’s delicious, but if you were to ask me on a deeper level…I would say that this restaurant is the kind that makes you rethink your life choices— This food was so immaculate that my taste buds are suing me for emotional distress (the good kind). I can feel my papillae squirm and revolt on my tongue now as I feed them anything else other than Thai Pad’s food. Woe is me, as I have become dependent on this food that has blessed me from the heavens, the nectar of the gods…I yearn for the mango sticky rice…it calls my name…
I ordered the crab meat fried rice, which was essentially a mound of rice with tiny flecks of carrots & spring onions, eggs, and a few pieces of crabmeat on top. The dish was dry with no flavor. The server was unconcerned about my concern. I will not dine @ Thai Pad again.
Good
very spicy
Everything is very delicious
An excellent, affordable local restaurant where one doesn’t have to fork out $50 - $60 for a mediocre ethnic lunch. As a visitor to this city, what a pleasant surprise!
Not me just going to a casual Thai spot and having one of the best meals in DC.
Outstanding, wonderful, I’ll be back so many times
I had a light dinner...green salad and curry puffs. The curry puffs melt in your mouth and the salad is almost too beautiful to eat! Excellent service...and speedy since I was on a dinner break from work. I'll definitely dine in again.
The food is good but there is only one lady to who serves both the restaurant and bars. She take the order, serves food and clean it. If you have ample time to waste go there, otherwise skip this restaurant. Also, if you take your car, don’t go there, first 30 minutes parking is free but you have to validate the ticket at the restaurant and that lady won’t tell you to do that. So, you will end up paying 25$ parking fees. In overall, this whole area isn’t worth.
This charming spot offers a delightful dining experience. I tried the Pad See Ew and it was truly exceptional, brimming with authentic flavors. I highly recommend it. Everything from the delicious food to the excellent service and the pleasant atmosphere contributed to a wonderful visit. The Thai tea was especially flavorful. All aspects of this restaurant not only met but surpassed my expectations.
Very misleading information. We ordered online the “mango” sticky rice only to find out that it was just sticky rice. We showed them how it looks like online when ordering. Especially since we wanted to try something new. We even offered to pay more for the difference and they didn’t want to do anything. I don’t know if there was a language barrier but they seem to understand us perfectly well and still did not show empathy or care or anything. We will never come back. But not their loss, right?
Great food and great service! Staff was so friendly!
I ordered cashew chicken from Thai pad dc via Uber eats last night. What I received was dry pieces of breaded chicken skin no meat .. no sauce and a few random vegetables and very little cashews.
I called the restaurant and spoke to a man who picked up the phone who told me that what I described was in fact how cashew chicken was made. I’ve had cashew chicken before at the restaurant and others and I’m offended that instead of acknowledging that I was given a meal of bad poor quality, I was told that crunchy chicken skin fried hard is what cashew chicken should be. I was offered no refund or credit but told that I should ask for it in the future to have more sauce ..I refused to eat is because crunchy fried pieces of chicken skin is NOT cashew chicken .. what I did taste was disgusting
I immediately ordered cashew chicken from Lamoom Thai and what I received from them with no instruction from me was pieces of juicy chicken that was not breaded at all that was not chicken skin but pieces that were most similar to chicken breast in a light ginger sauce with sautéed vegetables
wonderful food
Love this place!
Small place with good food. The place gets crowded very soon
As a person who has tried so many Thai restaurants in DC, I would say this is pretty good food, at least all the food items I have tried since I live close by. So I don't understand why this place is only rated by 4.3???? Should def get a much higher rating!!!!
Very amerecanized thai food. If you want real thai food, then this is not the place to go. Service is great.
We loved the take out from Thai Pad! The meal was amazing and the staff were super friendly and helpful! If we're back in the neighborhood for supper, we will definitely make a point of coming back!
Before COVID, this restaurant was good. I don’t know it it has changed management, but it is no longer one of my “go to” restaurants. Both the food and the service are average at best. I think Paragon Thai in Cleveland Park is much better.
Food is so delicious.i enjoy the taste of food.
We come here regularly and always have a great experience. I also like my food spicy and they bring out a plethora of hot sauce and spices for your dish. Also the lunch special can’t be beat.
Last week I went to Thai pad , clearly the owner has an anger management problem and as a woman I don’t feel safe and will never go back.
Delicious meals!!!!!
Our first experience with food from Thailand!
Service was excellent.
We are back next time to visita Washington DC.
Delia & Antonio.
Salty, but ok.
Great food, great service. ”Medium heat“ does indeed mean medium heat.
Very good
Great food Lunch specials during the week Highly recommend
Our go-to take out place! Our favorites are the drunken noodles, pad thai, and spicy eggplant.
I’ve had takeout and eaten in person many times. The food is spicy and delicious which is something I love in Thai food. 10/10 would recommend
Sometimes I like takeout after work. It took them 40 minutes to serve my order and the place was far from busy.
Surely my $16 chicken and rice would be good after that long. It was ok, after I added salt and garlic powder. I could cook the same at home in half the price and time.
If you’re looking for Asian cuisine in Van Ness, go for Viet Chopsticks across the street. Better food, portion, ambiance, and service.
My worst dining experience in years. Go literally anywhere else.
First timer and I loved it
Thai Pad is a neighborhood staple complete with quick service, cozy interior, and delicious food. I find myself there almost once a week for takeout. The menu is comprehensive with a lot of options for those with dietary restrictions. If you’re looking for a delicious Thai meal in upper Northwest DC, you should give Thai Pad a shot.
Enak banget, suka masakannya ❤️🫰
Get the duck
Had the krapow ped (pretty great!), green curry (good), and the tom kha gai (great, but a smaller portion?) Would be back if I lived closer!
Best Thai food!! Spicy when the the person wanted spicy and tasty all around! Best drunken noodles ever! Really good Green chili and Red chili dishes! We will be back-PS-always get the Brussels sprout salad-it’s always fresh and innovative -and TASTY!
First time here. Great Chicken Pad Thai and Thai Tea. The staff was also friendly.
Great and fresh food!
We have been here for Dine-in and Take-out. It is amazing! If we dine in, we can get it spicier than when we get it to go (even though we ask for it Thai Spicy both ways). Nonetheless, the food is excellent, the service is excellent, the patio is excellent! My husband and I love this restaurant and drive past many others to enjoy Thai Pad!
Food was very delicious.
Staff were friendly and kind.
Food came out quick.
RUDE customer service. Actually there wasn’t even any customer service. Maybe they are understaff? Couldn’t even say “sorry” when it was their mistake. Can’t wait to get my payment refunded. NEVER coming here again, very excited for the other Thai places.
Good food and fast service
Great food. Waitress was fantastic.
Found this place while searching for restaurants that served Chicken with basil with fried egg and enjoyed every morsel of their ka prow gai Kai dao. This place has outdoor seating and decent service even at odd lunching hours on weekends. Definitely would recommend their Kaprow gai kai dao for anyone craving that perfect blend of basil, veggies n spices with minced chicken, accompanied with tasty fried egg.
I worked close by for a week, and chose to order here 4 out of 7 days, despite a vast competition present. 👍🏽👍🏽
One dish i especially liked was the Drunken noodles with soft Tofu medium spicy. Never had that combination before, they nailed it. 🔥✌🏿😁👍🏿
This has been my favorite Thai restaurant in this part of DC since we discovered them during the pandemic. The curry puffs are one of my favorites...You can't find then everywhere. Also like that you can dine outdoors if you prefer.
Great neighborhood restaurant if you are craving Thai food. We sat outside because the weather was so nice. Service with a smile. I ordered the Spring Rolls with beet root and tofu to start and finished my meal with ground chicken larb. The dishes were flavorful. My husband ordered a curry dish with rice and he prefers his curry to be spicy, so he asked for the condiments.
Seating outdoors in front on the street, or inside the restaurant or order TO GO as I saw many locals do.
If I lived here, I would come here often! Thank you Thai Pad!
Fantastic food! Best Pad Thai I have ever had!!!
We used to eat there quite often but the quality became to inconsistent that we stopped. Now the food is either to spicy, or too bland. Sometimes too oily too. Last time the fried rice only tasted burnt that it was inedible and ended up in the trash. When you pay $15 for a pick up dish (before tax and tip), it is annoying.
I order takeout from here often. The larb gai is consistently delicious.
Good food - good service
Ordered Thai Pad shrimp, fried rice, duck soup, duck rolls, etc. online. The food that is delivered is exactly how it is described online. It is perfect all the time, and it makes for an enjoyable meal.
Not fresh it sucked and I was sick on my stomach.
The service was good. The food was really good. Had lunch here on a weekday; food came out very fast. Everything was hot and tasteful. The drink was ok, little watery but still good. For desert I tried the mango rice, my first time having this and it was surprisingly good.
The food is delicious. The Pad Thai passes my test. They were very generous with the beef on the Thai fried rice. But I'm definitely not a fan of their yam-filled spring rolls.
Delicious food at a great price. Portions are generous and the menu is large!
WOW! 3/29/2021 via DoorDash. regards in oven 265° 15 minutes. i enjoyed every dish: tom kha vegetable, curry puffs, steamed vegetable dumplings, taro rolls, pad see eew, pad prik khing. flavors had more depth than most that kitchens around here. not greasy. and not afraid of heat. Whoever was cooking tonight, thank you so much!
The food its not bad except THEY SHOULD HIRE PEOPLE THAT ARE WILLING TO BE MORE FRIENDLY. SPECIALLY THE CASHIER LADY SHE IS VERY RUDE . I think the pandemic is affecting her really bad. Terrible customer service!!!!!! Very bad impression from the first time ordering here.👎👎👎👎
Everything I've had on the menu is fantastic, presentation is excellent and their service is quick!
Such delicious food and kind welcoming staff. Beautiful zen type of dining atmosphere. I absolutely love their satay chicken and peanut sauce that I order an extra box to take home. One of my all time favorite Thai spots.
Really rude staff and manager. They gave me the wrong order and then tried to charge me to get the right order. They also left me on hold for a long time and kept blaming me for getting the wrong food. Thankfully, there are 2 other great Thai restaurants within a mile of this one.
The food was very good. I love everything about this restaurant. However, when I add shrimp and paid an extra 3.00, they only gave me 2 pieces! that’s the reason for the 3 starts . Other than that, very good !
Very rude hostess treated me awful. She is very disrespectful.
Great food. Very tasty. The pad Thai is great. Tried the larb gai salad and Tom yum both were excellent. Service is very nice also and fast. I ordered duck before, it didn’t seem fresh. I did not enjoy, good restaurant overall.
Delicious, glad I stop by!
Great Thai food, I like the Green Curry and the Curry Puffs.
We ordered to pick up the other day. It was so easy to order and was ready on time. The food was hot and delicious.
Underwhelming, to say the least! My drunken noddles we’re bland with little to no sauce. My husband’s panang was watery, lacking any coconut milk. Also the shrimp in our meals were completely plain, they couldn’t have been cooked with the dishes! The crab rangoon was delicious but 4 for $7 to expensive. Maybe the Covid shutdown has something to do with it but I’m super disappointed.
Exceptional.
Food was fabulous - and they totally adapted it to my many requests for changes...
Closer to a 4 than a 3 but I've been to better Thai places in DC. Spices were great but our potato puffs were definitely frozen before being cooked.
Good food and service.
This neighborhood restaurant has a cozy country Thai feeling. Presentations are simple but the food is delicious. One must ask for "Thai spicy". Otherwise you will get the food in American mild heat. Try the crispy duck and mango salad. There is a small bar and the restaurant has a good selection of wine and beers for such a small restaurant. Good location with easy walk from Van Ness Metro. The portions at the restaurant are more than what one gets delivered online.
Staff is super friendly whether you eat in or take out and the food is always good! Great portions for the price. I appreciate that a lot of dishes can be modified to gluten free, too.
I ordered on grub hub just to get it cancelled. Per the restaurant my address was 3.2 miles and I was told twice by the restaurant that they only deliver as far as 3 miles. When I added my address on google It said 2 miles a major difference. I called and was placed on hold and a lady picked up and said they use a system and it says it’s far. I mentioned again that on google it says 2 miles , then she finally said I spoke to the driver and he said we do not deliver in that area smh. I just ended up picking it up myself and I’m a high risk pregnant women. Defeated the whole purpose of bed rest today . Then 15 min later a young boy calls and says hi and pauses for a few minutes.I said “hellooooo what’s going on with my order ?” , just to tell me I have to pay for my order I placed on grub hub . Thanks for the inconvenience and inaccurate gps system you use !!!!!
First time come to this place. The food was wonderful. Food keep warm till finish ate. Service was good too. Recommended this place
1st time here and this place makes food very close to the original.. 2 thumbs up! The Drunken Noodle with Chicken is the best I'd recommend to anyone who likes Thai food or wants to try it...The restaurant itself could use a make over but it is cozy..
Always good food simply but well prepared and served by a friendly and courteous staff.
This is our favorite neighborhood local restaurant. The food is excellent and the staff are wonderful. Can't recommend enough!
Amazing place! Fantastic service and delicious food.
Wow, really impressed with this place. Fast and very friendly staff. Soup for appetizer was most excellent though a tad under spiced for medium but excellent otherwise. My drunken noodles were fantastic with an excellent balance of spice (medium) and basil and was a solid portion, with near half for leftovers. My date really liked her Pad Thai and the shrimp were excellent. Staff kept checking in with us and refilling our water as the spice built a bit.
I ordered the Chicken Cashew nut and was very disappointed in seeing that it only had 6 pieces of cashews in the entire dish! The flavor was good, but i ordered the dish because I like cashews.
Pretty good, but Siam House down in Cleveland Park is still better.
The food was ok...nothing crazy. I got the green curry and there was just a huge layer of oil on top which isnt appetizing. (See picture) I tried scooping some out but that didnt really work. Large portions. I asked for Thai hot and they tried so I give them props for that.
Very good thai food ..friendly owners/staff
Simply the best Thai food I have eaten in DC by far. Great and friendly servers as well. Also quite cheap. I recommend the Minced Chicken, the Duck in Basil Sauce and the Drunken Noodles.
I am so excited about this place. I have been looking for another great pad Thai spot and this might be it! The spices, vegetables and tofu were SO delicious. It was very authentic tasting and wasn’t overly expensive. I loved the lime that came with it, it enhanced the overall taste quite a bit. I’m definitely ordering from here again!
A delightful neighborhood Thai restaurant. Very often quite busy at lunch time. The food is delicious and the service is gracious. There is parking on the street. Highchairs are provided for the children. Quite often there are small groups who appeared to be either from the local offices and all travelers. #Thai#gingerbeef#spicy eggplant with tofu
Good thai food
Great tiny neighborhood tire place near Van Ness station. Ginger pad Thai with shrimp was awesome. I inhaled it
Rude staff mediocre Thai food I would not recommend this place
One of my fave Thai spots. Prices very reasonable and plates have all been delicious.
On a positive note, the Thai iced tea was cold and refreshing, and nicely served in a ceramic mason jar. The lunch portions of Thai fried rice and pad thai noodles were each served with choice of meat, a salad and an egg roll. The meals were filling, although the beef and chicken could've used some more flavor.
Great, incredible for the right price! Yummmmy
Best thai restaurant in town!
Very good! Prices are decent & food is good. I recommend the Pad See Eaw & the ginger beer. My friend with Celiac's was able to find a dish without any issue
I've visited twice now for lunch. Generous portions for the lunch special plus friendly and fast service. Definitely specify "Thai Hot" on the spicy dishes if you crave that burn!
Pretty good Thai food!
My go to place in this neighborhood. Staff are always friendly, the portions are generous and the food tastes great! Get the crispy duck. You won’t regret it :)
Delicioso! El mejor sitio de comida thai en Dc !!!!! Recomendadisimo
Awful place, I walked in to eat, there were plenty of empty tables and the hostess rolled her eyes and did not want to serve me. The guy working behind the bar said he was the owner and asked that I sit, but after that, who would eat there.
