The place was beautiful and small and cozy. I went in with my family and family friends for my birthday dinner. The menu is fairly priced and has chinese and thai dishes. They have a large menu and a variety of options. The drunken noodles was the only dish which threw us off but the waitress was sweet enough to substitute it for something else that we would like. The place is a must try for a small gathering or lunch or dinner. They do have parking, its small but substantial for 6 cars. You can also find street parking.

Pretty good wonton soup and 3 sisters noodle dish with pork. A little sad to find roughly 1-2 square cm of egg shells in the dish, but it was extra nutrients for my body so I can't complain. Five 🌟

Love this place - I order take-out from here often (shrimp fired rice absolutely delicious, I always get it with extra scallions and medium spicy #insidescoop). Also, the salmon sashimi is first rate! Price is reasonable. I only wish they had a loyalty card for frequent diners.

10/10 recommended!! I ordered the sesame tofu lunch bento box & it came with sesame tofu, sushi, salad, rice & miso soup .. Huge portions of everything, picture doesn’t do justice!! The sesame tofu was quite possibly the best thing I have ever eaten, the outside was so crunchy and perfect! Everything was absolutely delicious and so fresh. The restaurant was also super clean and the staff was super friendly!! Thank you Bambu!!

Used to be a great neighborhood restaurant.. Was 5 stars. I loved this place.

Even though they did not deliver to Bethesda, we did curbside pickup regularly throughout Covid. We tipped very well, just to support them.

Then...🤬

Today I called to order, just like before, about $100 worth of food, and tried to give them my credit card info for curbside pickup. Normally I pull in, call, and they bring out the bags of food and put it in the empty seat in the car. Nope. He said I had to go inside with my credit card, sign the slip, and pick up the food there. No prepay, no curbside to the car.

Really??? In the Covid era that is ridiculous!

I cancelled the order, called my other (remaining) favorite Guapo's and am now going there for curbside pickup. (There is also the excellent Moby Dick 😋 as an alternative.)

Sad thing is, even if Bambu wises up and begins doing credit card payment over the phone with curbside, I would never know about it to go back to them.

I just hope they survive the pandemic, because their food is excellent, but it's not worth dying for.

Sorry, I mixed up this restaurant with another in my original review. It was good and I would recommend it as a good place to get together with friends.

We just discovered this place. It's now our favorite go-to Asian restaurant. Chinese, Thai and Japanese dishes. Good food, great service, awesome value. And they have free parking, albeit a small lot in front. Our favorite server is Joyce. She's the best! Highly recommend!

Cat food.. what ever happened to Bambu?!
Happy Hour sushi is your best bet. At first ordered Thai fried rice had stuff in it - hard candy like - salt that cut my throat. Then ordered the drunken noodle that looks like cat food (see picture and judge yourself) . Years ago my husband had to go back to return rice that had raw meet in it, 2 years ago a rat was running on the pipes at the dinning room and fell on the table in front of everyone.. so nope. See you in 2 years to see if you have improved, maybe.

Fresh ingredients, well prepared. Our regular Chinese (and sushi) delivery choice. Go to dishes are General Tsao’s, Hunan Beef, and Moo Shu Pork. But everything is delicious!

The kapow basil chicken didn’t taste fresh. It tasted like it was left overs from the previous day. The orange chicken was okay. Not impressed.

Disappointing. Forgot our soup, then only brought one. The sushi was very fresh and tasty, though a bit too exotic for my taste. The place feels a bit cold and sparsely decorated, though clean.

My go-to for a quick and fresh lunch. Great Thai soups, fresh sushi/sashimi, kind and flexible staff.

Wonderful experience! We were able to conveniently reserve a table and order food to be ready at our reservation time all on their website. We walked right in when we got there, seated immediately, and our food was out shortly after.

The staff was very nice and attentive, and the food was delicious. Shout out to the pan-fried dumplings and General Tso’s chicken! And the establishment was extremely clean, bathrooms included.

Highly recommend for anyone looking for a great Asian cuisine!

This place is great. Good, quick service, good portions and great food. I come after work and order, it comes out promptly and they let me sit outside with a beer as I wait. They always bring it out to me which is very kind. I’ve done pickup orders too and they are always ready promptly.

I would give this place ZERO STARS if i could. The food is underdone or old very old looking/tasting, and there are bugs all over it. We found a worm on a broccoli stem, and when we brought it back, they simply said "Sorry, sometimes we can't properly wash all the veggies". They were quick to give the money back, which shows that it happens more than not. Please please please, i urge you to not eat at this place. The food is expensive for no reason, because it clearly isn't good, when you can go to a corner chinese place and have a 110% better experience. Never again!!

I've ordered pickup here twice in the last month, during Coronavirus shutdown. The staff was nice on the phone and in person. The first time they forgot an item in my order, and still remembered the missing item when I placed an order weeks later. The sesame chicken is the best I've ever had, and my girlfriend who orders Pad See Ew at every asian restaurant loves it here and orders two entrees just for herself every time, so she can have leftovers.

After seeing the bad reviews I will make sure to pay closer attention.

Visited in Jan ‘20. Like MANY other reviewers have mentioned, I found a large living cockroach in my sushi (check out the horrifying pictures on Google/Yelp). Waitress did not even seem surprised, which now makes sense after seeing the number of reviewers that had the same experience. Place is obviously infested. Go elsewhere.

My overall experience was decent. The food was freshly made and yummy. Unfortunately, my waitress Michelle was very unattentive and rude towards me, which is the reason I'm not giving a 4/5 star rating. The rest of the restaurant employees I interacted with were definitely of a more positive light, which made my experience better than not.

Fantastic food. I’m slowly making my way through the Thai curries and entrees - every one has been amazing. The sauces are delicious, and they always include tons of fresh veggies. 10/10 highly recommend

As a standard I tip 20%, no matter how great, or lackluster, service quality is. However, the practice of self tipping by servers--without explanation, forewarning, or any written policy, especially after half of the menu items ordered, explained well after our order was placed, would not be available--to be completely offensive. Also, it automatically ensures I'll never spend money in that establishment again. Judging by other reviews, I cant help but notice a demographic pattern, in which the practice is applied at Bambu.

This is my 2nd day eating here girl a week the experience is consistent, the food is excellent, and the faults are minor. Like many small restaurants it's staffed by members of the immediate family, they work hard, most of them do not speak English really well. So you have to be patient in pronouncing words.

Had two disappointing experiences - had chicken pad thai once and sashimi (tuna) the other time. Definitely would not order again; both were fairly bland. I heard that the owners are of Chinese heritage, so I may have just ordered from the wrong parts of the menu; I've heard their fried rice dishes are good. Restaurant was clean, staff was friendly, and prices seemed reasonable. They have a few parking spots outside the restaurant, but finding parking around dinner time may prove challenging.

Maybe this place is better in person, but the delivery was not good. It was fast and I liked the variety of the menu. However, the two beef dishes we ordered, Pad See Ew and Mongolian Beef, were terrible. The meat was unsettlingly soft. Parts were bright red like they were either not cooked or for some other unnatural reason. The spring rolls were ok, but the filling was more like an egg roll and didn't taste fresh at all. I do not usually waste food I've paid for but this was so bad we literally threw out the $35 worth of food.

I have been here twice and each time I have to say they have impressed me. The service is excellent, the quality of the food is noticeable. I had the lunch special boxes General Tso's and red curry. As an appetizer we had the edamame it tasted fresh and you could taste the green-ness (possibly not frozen). Bathrooms are clean and so is the rest of the visible restaurant. I will return.

The Thai dishes here are very good! I love their lunch bento boxes.
